John Price with a makeup loving partner who's used to buying drugstore makeup because all of the products they want are so expensive.
When he realises how they look at the Charlotte Tilbury, Chanel and Dior makeup stands at every department store they go to with longing eyes, he's immediately pulling out his card.
"John, I can't!" They're immediately taken aback by the thought of spending his hard earned money on something so silly.
"Course you can. Makes you happy, right? If you're happy, M' happy too."
They spend silly amounts of time swatching blushes, glosses and fancy eyeshadows, John plopping every little thing his partner so much as looks at in their basket.
"You like the glittery things, yeah? The ones for your eyes?"
"Mhm!"
Goes on to grab some £70 eyeshadow palette without even glancing at the price.
"Go grab us a coffee whilst I pay for this?"
Doesn't even give them a choice as he slides a £50 note into their pocket and ushers them away from the till towards the Selfridges or Harrods café.

TF141– protective or possessive? (afab!)
Price 🚬:
Protective. John doesn’t see you as something he can possess. You’re your own person, you can do as you please, but he’ll always have an eye on you, even when he’s gone on deployment. He’s had numerous sit-down talks with you about what he expects to know, purely for safety reasons. Where you are, who you’re hanging out with, what you plan to do, etc. He’s not a fan of spontaneity, he’d rather know at least a day in advance if you plan on going somewhere without him. He knows the dangers of the world, and although he trusts you to take care of yourself, he can’t trust others. All in all, he cares very very deeply for you and would blame himself if anything remotely bad were to happen to you and he wasn’t there.
“Where are you going?”
“Out with a co-worker, you remember Cami, right?”
“Mhm.”
“She asked me to lunch.”
“You didn’t tell me.”
“I know, I’m sorry, it just came up-“
“Your location on?”
“Of course.”
“Have fun then, bug. Text me when you’re done, I’ll come get you.”
“Thanks John.”
“I expect updates.”
“I know.”
“Good.”
Simon 💀:
Possessive. Simon’s not a jealous guy, he knows you’re his and he’s yours and that’s that. But, lord, it gets on his nerves when other guys hit on you like he’s not standing right there. When he’s home, he follows you everywhere, like a lost puppy. Except, he’s more of a hound. Dark, brooding, your personal shadow. He won’t keep you from doing things you like, just expect him to be right there with you. It irks him when he’s on deployment, knowing you are by yourself and he’s not there to protect you. Just like Price, he expects texts of where you are, what you’re doing, and especially when you make it home safe and sound. Even if he can’t immediately answer back, he still wants you to let him know. It eases his mind. He feels awful when he realizes his own paranoia seeps into you sometimes, reassuring you that he’ll always be there, even when he’s off on the other side of the world, if you need him, he’ll find a way home.
“Where ya goin’, dove?”
“Just running out to get, uh, girl stuff—what are you doing?”
“Gettin’ dressed.”
“Why?”
“M’ comin’ with you.”
“Si, you don’t have to-“
“Either I go with you, or I go by myself, your choice.”
“…you know-“
“No.”
“But-“
“No.”
“Simon-“
“Keep it up, sweetheart. M’ not arguing with you on this.”
“….fine.”
“Atta’ girl.”
Johnny 🧼:
Possessive. Like his lieutenant, he’s not jealous, or so he says. The glare that he sends other guys that try to even talk to you is downright nasty. Johnny always has a hand on you when you’re out in public. On your hip, your waist, holding your own hand or even slipping his hand into the back pocket of your jeans (he totally gives your ass a squeeze or two. Can you blame him?). You’ve asked him about it once, calling him out on his obvious possessive behavior. He shrugged and denied anything. “Dunno what yer talkin’ bout, bonnie.” You gave up on trying. He was adamant about keeping tabs on you, maybe a bit excessively. Not just knowing where you are or who you’re with, but who your friends are, your co-workers, even memorizes your orders at restaurants so he can do it for you. Totally has a whole notebook on what your schedule is for work, when you run out of certain things like makeup or skincare, all the way down to your passwords. You’ve got no idea though, you just think he’s being an observant, caring, boyfriend.
“Johnny, did you get me more makeup?”
“Makeup?”
“Yeah..I’ve got more of that Charlotte Tilbury lipstick I thought I was running out of…and another Rare Beauty blush-“
“Oh, yeah, ran out n’ got ya some more.”
“…you did?”
“Mhm-hmm.”
“…how did you know I needed—?”
“I just know ya’ that well, bunny.”
“Johnny-“
“Y’ want some takeout? I’m starvin’. What d’ya think, tha’ lil place down the block?”
Kyle 🧢:
Protective. Kyle is head over heels for you, always keeping an eye on you out of pure concern. God forbid something happened to you and he wasn’t there. He’d never forgive himself. When you’re out without him, he’s texting you constantly. So much so, you’ve had a friend or two comment on how annoying that must be, to which you promptly unfriended them. You thought it was sweet, especially after he took a night you had together to explain why he was such a ‘helicopter boyfriend’. He’s been to war, almost died a handful of times, and he wants nothing but joy for you. Well, you can’t be happy if you’re not safe. He won’t go overboard like Johnny, he’s similar to Price in the sense that he doesn’t think you’re something to possess. Knows that you’re a capable young woman and can take care of yourself. He does go out of his way to teach you some good self defense though. Just in case.
“I’ll be right back, love you!”
“Wait, where are you going?”
“Gotta pick up my niece from school, my sister can’t make it and you know how that piece of shit baby daddy is-“
“Yeah, yeah, we don’t like him, I know angel, but…you’re going alone?”
“Yeah, I’ll be quick, I promise.”
“Mhm…you sure?”
“Yep. Twenty minutes, tops.”
“Alright. Be careful please…and keep your ringer on!”
“I will, love you!”
“Love you too, sweetness.”
A/N: this took me way too long, lol. I think Simon’s is the most accurate because I’m still getting used to writing for the other guys. I’m working on it, I swear!

imagine price coming home at the same time as his ( extremely successful ) missus and leaning against the doorway to watch her undress in their walk-in closet. the mere sight of her under the gentle, orange glow of the lights, slightly bent over the table to take off her ( south sea, celine ) pearl earrings across the mirror enough to make him drop everything and just watch. silent, focused, entranced: price's eyes moved slowly, roaming down the bra and her sheer black pantyhose. when she stops at the realization of being watched, he only fondly tells her to continue, voice low and gruff — don't stop now, love.
imagine graves crossing his arms together and tilting his head to get a better view of his babygirl applying lipstick: laser-focused on how she rubs her lips together — rogue red (charlotte tilbury) staining the tip of her thumb as she swipes to fix it. graves only chuckles against her neck when she scolds him for ruining her hard work, his hands already hiking up her dress to palm her ass.
imagine soap melting against the soft and warm lap of his bonnie as she runs her hand across his hair, fingers grazing the scalp and turning his head into mush. his mind still heady from the lazy makeout session against the couch. she thanks him for taking her out on a pedicure, hands already trailing down his chest and down his abdomen to unbuckle his pants, eager to show him just how pretty her fingers look around his —
imagine gaz gawking at the set of wheels his love got him for his birthday, only recovering from the shock when she twiddled her fingers nervously, face crumbling at the thought of him disliking it. he immediately hopped behind the wheel to reassure her, fingers tentatively touching the leather interior. when the engine purred to life, he let out an excited cheer, eyes lighting up like a child’s on christmas. he can’t wait anymore, locking the door to push the passenger seat of his new aston martin v8 all the way to the backseat — pinning her under him, hands running down her sides. he wanted to thank his darling, in more ways than one. imagine alejandro having to yell at one of his men for jogging straight into a pole because he was distracted by his cariño — eyes in front, cabrón! she can't help but let out a bewildered laugh at his sudden outburst, running her hands down his shoulders to soothe his temper: reminding him that he's supposed to be lenient with rookies. flustered, alejandro had dragged her inside one of the tents, zipping the entrance up before trapping her against a table. she mentioned how silly it was for him to compliment her sundress only to rip it off. he says he’ll get her a new one.  imagine ghost pinning both her hands against the wall, a scowl under his balaclava as he snarls — you fucking brat. she lifts her chin in defiance to retort with a snarky comment. a moment later, she's weeping, sobbing, begging against his chest: three of his fingers barely pushing past her entrance. he stares at how her mascara stains her cheeks, lips trembling and legs shaking, clenching down his wrist as they try to balance themselves on sleek, black stilettos. not satisfied, he flips her so that she has her palms flat against the window ledge, ass bare for him to discipline some obedience into her.
Tumblr media
a/n : i don’t know what would be a good title for this but these are just my midnight thoughts... i love the army couple trope , where reader fights side by side with the men, those are really chef’s kiss because it means the characters understand each other ( e.g : when it’s an afab! reader and it touches up on their struggles as a female officer in the army ) but i also need a benefactress or old money heiress or fashionable human rights lawyer or cia informant f!reader [ i used her instead of ‘you’ in the imagine above to test the waters but feel free to make it a self insert! ] who sucks with a gun in her hand but excels in other fields of counter-terrorism or even as a housewife/work wife/civilian. i know it sounds less realistic or even impossible, but to be fair, considering how military operations often need help from external divisions such as law, humanitarian aid, medicine, etc. it is more than possible + God forbid these women have military husbands who work covert and dangerous operations as if they also don't have hounds nipping their heels and praying on their downfall by playing dirty with the kind of money and information they carry. Although distinctly different, they can definitely relate to each other in more ways than one and maintain a form of mutual respect, understanding and even love.
( i just don't have the depth and writing skills to explain my thoughts and this very specific trope that itches my brain yet, but just wait babes i'll get back to my point in the future i swear 😭) additional hcs for imagine above : → i can see gaz as a long time james bond fan, so the car referenced was from the most recent bond movie starring daniel craig : no time to die  → i always see price and his dynamic with the missus ( wife ) as a george & amal clooney kind of vibe, except george in this case is jonathan and not an award winning silver fox but rather a medal decorated war hero silver fox. she would be a human rights lawyer ( and i’m sure she treats gaz like her own son and has met simon a few times due to how many missions he used to run with her husband back in the day ) → soap + a bimbo gf, he would adore her.... → graves wants to live that lana del rey national anthem life so bad it’s embarrassing ( me too ) where he owns a holiday home by the lake + he dreams of having a son when he retires so he can make him wear expensive khaki shorts and teach him how to fish ( highkey enjoys golf ) → alejandro falls victim to his girl showing up to base in a cute sundress only to find out she’s not wearing any underwear. he simultaneously loves and hates it. → ghost has a crying kink, don’t get me wrong, he has been through a lot and his trauma probably won’t make him enjoy any sadistic kinks. but he does like manhandling you and is not afraid of being a little rough, and seeing you all vulnerable and crying ( out of pleasure ) just drives him feral. plus, it turns him on to fuck you when you look so dolled up and pretty ( gives him a reason to mess you up ) +  likes the fact that you’re bratty too

big find for me tonight, can’t recommend it highly enough, kinda freaking out. this one’s a collab between the “A” Trio, the ‘oldest free improv group from Lebanon.’ They’re fabulous, a lot of their albums still have the meditative quality that the opening of this one does but also a lot of fun, all worth hearing (I really liked “A Tower With No Imam” off their album Folk). They’re playing here with AMM (Eddie Provost & John Tilbury) who were one of the first and greatest British free improv groups (ridiculous body of work amongst each of them and the AMM itself, Tilbury is one of the best performers of Feldman and definitely Cardew in my opinion.)
anyway that’s the nerd history pitch mostly this stuff is beautiful, really leaves you with something. If you like noise when it’s ‘quieter’ and don’t mind instruments (that’s a joke), if you’re into stuff like this at all, and maybe even if you’re not—-I think a thing like this could turn people onto it. wow. cool shit.

"Two Of Five Alleged Bank Robbers Committed, Given Bail," Windsor Star. October 22, 1943. Page 5 & 6. --- Local Men To Be Tried In December ---- Gerald Gates Tells of Finding Money in Backyard of Brother's Home ---- Five Windsor men charged with armed robbery of the Royal Bank branch at Wheatley on September 10 will face trial in Supreme Court at Chatham early in December. Allan Baldwin, already waiting to start. four years prison term for receiving stolen tires: Franklin Smith, who was discharged from the Canadian Army after serving overseas in this war; Vernard Gates, Leo Dubroy and Peter Devlin were all committed by Magis-> trate Ivan B. Craig in police court at Chatham yesterday after a preliminary hearing.
More than $34,000 was stolen in the bank holdup.
Peter Devlin and Leo Dubrey have been granted bail and are freed. They appeared before County Judge H. E. Grosch at Chatham today, who permitted the same bail as they were allowed before. Each had posted $2,000 cash.
Only other one of the five who had been free before the preliminary hearing was Vernard Gates, but as his bondsmen were in Windsor the new bail must be arranged through that city. It is expected an application will be made here in a couple of days. His bail was for $16,000 cash.
SURPRISE ENDING A surprise ending was given the two-day hearing when Magistrate Craig sent up Devlin along with the rest. As Crown Attorney A. Douglas Bell, K.C., admitted after James H. Clark, K.C., counsel for Devlin, had protested it, no evidence had been produced at the preliminary hearing to connect Devlin with the robbery.
Mr. Clark asked the grounds for sending Devlin to trial along with the others, and Mr. Bell cited a case in the Supreme Court of British Columbia in which the learned justice had upheld the commitment of an accused man even though no evidence had been put in against him. It was maintained that when accused were charged jointly they should be kept together for the trial.
STANDS BY DECISION In spite of Mr. Clark's objection, the magistrate said he would stand by his decision and commit all five.
Afterward, Mr. Clark said he would enter a motion before a Supreme Court judge in chambers asking that the commitment be quashed before the trial begins.
STARTLING EVIDENCE Startling evidence was given by Gerald Gates, who is now facing s charge of receiving money stolen from the bank, before the hearing concluded. He told of digging in the backyard of his brother, Vernard, on Byng road, Windsor, with the intention of planting a peach tree when he found s boiler filled with tins of money. This, which later was found to total $4,584.67, of which $3,650 was in bills, he had quickly replaced under the soil and then at night, two days after the bank robbery in Wheatley, had dug it up again. Gates told the court he had then taken the boiler to a road in Tilbury East Township and thrown it into the ditch.
He explained that he knew his brother, Vern, was arrested in connection with the bank robbery and that if the money were found in his yard it might cause trouble.
After dumping the boiler in a ditch on a sideroad, he had returned with his brother, Harold, and a girl friend with the intention of getting the money and turning it over to police. He had left the girl and Harold in Tilbury while he continued on alone. But he changed his mind, deciding it would be difficult to explain to police, and left the money where it was.
Still later, he went with Constable Len Neil of the provincial police in Windsor and Detective Chris Paget of Windsor city police and directed them to the spot where they found the boiler full of money.
IDENTIFIED CAR John Nicholson, of Wheatley, said yesterday afternoon he had seen a Mercury on Lake street in his village and had seen men hurrying toward it. Later, in Windsor, he found a car in a lineup of other cars which he identified as the same one. He said the peculiar pattern of dust on it was one thing which led to his picking it out. Earlier, Mrs. Dorothy Julian said she had seen such a car in front of her home in Wheatley.
Sgt. Dave Duncan, of the Ontario Provincial Police, explained that the Mercury owned by Vernard Gates had been put in a lineup in Windsor and it had been picked out by Nicholson as the one he saw in Wheatley. Licence plates found on the car at this time were said by police to have been those belonging to Gates, although they were not the same plates Mrs. Julian had reported in Wheatley.
Another witness yesterday afternoon was Inspector George McKay, of the criminal investigation branch of the provincial police, who told about the investigation in Wheatley and of arresting Leo Dubroy and Peter Devlin n in a Windsor hotel. Later, with other police officers, he had gone to the home of Allen Baldwin and there saw Franklin Smith but not Baldwin.
They had accompanied Smith to this room in a downtown Windsor hotel, and found an army kit, with the name "Smith, F. F.," on the side of it. In the bag they found $6.456 wrapped in pages of a newspaper. Among it was $223 in United States currency and a bundle of new $2 and $1 bills. Smith was arrested and charged with the robbery.
Asked about the money, Smith had said: "It's my dough, but I've accumulated it." Asked how he got it, he replied: "You can see I've done some good betting on the horses."
REVOLVER FOUND Later Baldwin was taken into custody after a blue denim smock, of a type witnesses said one of the robbers wore had been found at his home. A search of Vernard Gates' premises on Byng road yielded a revolver and a sealer of pennies and Gates was arrested.
During a police lineup when Mrs. Kathleen McLean, of the Wheatley bank staff, had picked out Baldwin, he had said:
"Be careful, lady, this is 20 years." Constable Neil explained about finding money in Tilbury East and said Miss Jean Tait identified two $10 bills found with the amount.

Listed: Al Karpenter
Tumblr media
Al Karpenter was originally Álvaro Matilla (from Barakaldo). In 2014, Mattin started to collaborate with him and in 2022, Marta Sainz and Enrique Zaccagnini from Santander joined. They’ve spent the years post-COVID in a fever pitch of noise collaboration, working with fellow experimenters Sunik Kim, Dominic Coles and Triple Negative on their album The Forthcoming and with CIA Debutante on another self-titled disc. Jennifer Kelly reviewed both in August, writing that, “Al Karpenter swamps threads of song in seething banks of noise and dissonance. You find yourself focusing on blaring surface noise, while sense and melody percolates somewhere underneath.” Here Mattin picks ten boundary-pushing favorites.
El Inquilino Comunista — “Cruel Off” (1992)
youtube
This track was actually in their first tape, which for me, was probably the best thing to come out of Getxo Sound, a small noise rock scene that happened in my hometown around the early 1990s. I remember getting this cassette and being blown away. I got inspired to see that there were bands doing things like this in my surroundings. Then I found out about other great bands like Cancer Moon, La Secta, Lord Sickness and Pop Crash Colapso. Now some of the members of El Inquilino Comunista play in other bands like Basurita and Trampas (where my very good friends Piji and Pablo play).
Hanne Boenisch — A Journey to the North Pole: A documentary about the Scratch Orchestra and Cornelius Cardew. (1971)
youtube
This documentary portrays the last tour of the Scratch Orchestra and the heated debates that they were going through, but also it documents the amazing experiments and street concerts that they were doing. After this tour, a split happened between the more Maoist-influenced section called the ideological group around Cardew, John Tilbury and Keith Rowe and the more anarchist and performative tendency that went into forming the Slippery Merchants. The tension between the artistic and ideological parts and their split reminds me of the division that occurred with Situationist International in 1961, in Gothenburg, where all the artists were expelled from the group.
Junko — Sleeping Beauty (2002)
youtube
I heard this record at Taku Unami’s house when I was on tour in Japan for the first time in 2004. I knew Junko from Hijokaidan, but this solo recording really cut through everything that I listened to before. It could be said to be concrete poetry or noise, but for me is something else that takes an existential level. What are we as humans when communication becomes only lubrication for commodification? This is not a form of primal scream but rather an expression of the impossibility of meaningful existence under capitalism.
Parmentier — Luxsound: 5 Untitled (1998)
youtube
Rosy Parlane and Dion Workman formed Parmentier when Thela — the New Zealand noise rock they both had with Dean Roberts — disbanded after a legendarily chaotic concert in New York in 1997. Parlane and Workman left their rock instruments and started an excellent electronic label called Sigma Editions and their band Parmentier. I saw them live in 1999 at the Sprawl in London, and I was so moved by this amazingly precise electronic music but made with a New Zealand noisy attitude which gave it a very warm character. I ended up becoming very good friends with Rosy, Dion and Dean and collaborating with all of them on different occasions.
Constant Pain — Demon Lover
youtube
Another band from New Zealand with Cameron Bain, Greg Cairns and Roddy Pain.
Cameron lived in London and used to play in the bands The Mean Streaks and Heliogabalus with Matthew Hyland (of Triple Negative). Roddy also had a short-lived band called Evil with Liz Matthews and David Mitchel, which was simply incredible. Both Cameron and Roddy took the rock spirit seriously, unfortunately to its ultimate consequences. Noise rock made with love and integrity.
Roberta Settels — “Landscape With 3 Tape-recorders And…” (1985)
youtube
I got this record, Isolation! Meinhof In Memoriam, when I was living in Stockholm, and I thought it was the coolest record ever. Settles self-published it on her label Music in Crisis after Caprice Records — an institutional label part of Musikverket (Swedish Performing Arts Agency) — refused at the last minute to publish it because they were scared of the political message of the record. Some of it reminds me of what the composer Bernhard Günter was doing in the 1990s but without any of the esoteric connotations. For me, this is a great example of how avant-garde music can meet radical politics.
Batile Alake — The Waka Queen
youtube
When Xabier Erkizia and I got to Lagos in 2014 to record Billy Bao’s Lagos Sessions, the first thing that we did was to go to Jazzhole record shop. The owner Kunle Tejuoso started to play us all these amazing records of Sakara, Apala and Waka Music at full volume, and Alake really struck a chord in us. For some reason, later on, Kunle would not tell the name of Alake as if she were some sort of sacred secret. Somehow, we managed to find out who she was, and since then, we have been in love with her.
Petrona Martinez — Le bullerengue (1998)
youtube
After that experience in Lagos, I have been searching for similar sounds that focus on percussion and voice in other places by tracing Afro-Caribbean music. The first thing that I got into it was Cuban rumba, especially Muñequitos de Matanzas. A couple of years ago, I was hearing a DJ session of Amuleto Manuela, an incredible Colombian DJ based in Berlin, and she played Petrona Martinez which is bullerengue from Colombia, and this got me into similar forms of music like Puerto Rican Bomba of el tambor from Venezuela.
Gérard Lockel — Gwo Ka Modènn (A.D.G.K.M - 1988)
youtube
Another interesting musical genre from the Caribbean is Gwo Ka from Guadalupe.
I discovered Gérard Lockel when I was researching Bèlènou, a fascinating group from Martinique mixing traditional Bèlè with avant-garde approaches. Bèlènou was founded by Edmond Mondésir and Léon Bertide, and I read that they were influenced by Gérard Lockel, so I went to the source, and it was life-altering. I quickly found out that I was not the only one deeply touched by his music, his records cost between 300 and 600 euros on Discogs.
Elvin Brandhi — Shelf Life (2019)
youtube
My friend Miguel Prado mentioned Elvin Brandhi, and she is doing some of the best stuff that I heard lately. She is collaborating with incredible artists and travelling all the time. A noise nomad and a fantastic improviser. The first time that I saw her was with Yeah You — the group that she has with her father — at an empty shopping mall in Glasgow as part of the extraordinary Counterflows festival, and it was magnificent. As far as I know, this is her only solo record.
