I finished A Short History of Trans-Misogyny by Jules Gill-Peterson last night and I really liked it! I think more people should read it, there's a lot to learn from it.
I really enjoyed the analysis of transmisogyny in the book, and how the author ties history and context to it. I found the analysis of how colonialism, racism, and capitalism ties into transmisogyny especially good. I find the term "trans-feminized" to refer to groups that aren't trans women but experience transmisogyny particularly useful. The commentary on American queer history and how the gay and lesbian communities of the 1970's abandoned street queens, trans women, and drag queens was also very good. I also liked the discussion of the rise of the term transsexual, and how there was a particular whiteness and wealth associated with it, and how it was also tied to the respectibility politics of the time (the sentiment of essentially being "normal people" besides the queerness, and the desire for assimilation). This book took a lot of things I'd already known separately and tied them together in a really nice way.
I enjoyed it so much that I'm planning to pick up another of Jules Gill-Peterson's books, Histories of the Transgender Child, at some point soon. I've skimmed through a PDF of it and am interested in her thoughts on the history of intersex children and how that relates to the history of transgender children.

OBJECTUM MOVIE REVIEW: HER (2014)
Tumblr media
this movie is an insane fucking emotional rollercoaster, but it's really good at showing the relationship struggles of having a non-human partner like that. in this world, os / human relationships are normalized, but there is a short scene where theodore is being berated in public for his relationship. i do really appreciate how this movie shows relationships like this as not an insane concept though. theodore also shows a lot of growth in the movie. the ending is not awesome but no spoilers except for saying that the ending doesn't end with the dude forming a human relationship (which is GOOD.) this film also touches on objectophilia a little so if that makes you uncomfortable, either skip those parts or dont watch. 7/10 ⭐️
content warnings for the film if needed

Verne: The Shape of Fantasy
Tumblr media
Absolutely losing my mind over this game!
"Verne: The Shape of Fantasy" is a side-scrolling adventure game with beautiful graphics.
Tumblr media
The storyline takes place in an alternate dimension. You play as the chief scientist of the Nautilus, one Monsieur Jules Verne. In this alternate dimension, a world war is underway and Captain Nemo is leading a resistance against "The Nation," a global power which is slowly taking over more and more countries.
Captain Nemo is salvaging ancient Atlantean technology which has the power to alter reality. Everyone quickly realizes that only Monsieur Verne seems to have the ability to alter reality.
Things turn dark, Captain Nemo's mental health declines as he faces the pressures of war. You, meanwhile, begin to question your own sanity as you begin to hallucinate weird things such as...a Mysterious Island...books with your name on them...messages from someone named "Ned Land"...
Tumblr media
A lot of the game involves exploring. Personally, that's my favorite aspect of adventure games anyway, but I think some players might possibly wish for more puzzles.
There are collectable info cards you find around the game world which have interesting historical facts surrounding Jules Verne's life and literary works, which I thought was absolutely brilliant. They showed photographs of Jules Verne and his associates during the credits, and there was an after-credits scene as well.
Tumblr media
"Verne: The Shape of Fantasy" is available on Steam and GOG.com:

240419 ~ Dick Sand, A Captain at Fifteen by Jules Verne
trying to enjoy the last days of my sick leave with a book! at first, it thought it was a fun adventurous novel for teenagers and found it a bit naïve but then... oh gosh, it shows so much pain innocent people had to go through and my heart aches...

Twisted series book review
☆ Twisted Love
1. This book was amazing. The plot twists will blow your brains out.
2. Alex Volkov. That's it. Just him. Like he is just amazing.
3. Pretty words and pretty faces don't equal pretty souls. This line. This. Freaking. Line. It had me crying.
4. Also the way he just walked her home for a year without them talking.....AAAAHHHH just everything in this book was amazing.
5. In book 2, 3 and 4 there relationship just was so pretty even if they were there for like 1 page.
☆ Twisted Games
1. I love the whole bodyguard princess thing like I'm here for it.
2. I read this book 1 year ago I don't remember the details well but I loved Rhys and Bridget.
3. The whole you and me against the world, princess was just so sweet and cute and asfkjhjilw
4. I love how Bridget just overall slays with her feminine energy as Queen and shit like slayyyyy
☆ Twisted Hate
1. Okay this book was hilarious. There were so many funny scenes and their back and forth bickering was just everything.
2. I also loved how josh and Alex became friends again in this book like we all knew they were gonna but the whole conversation was epic and alex asking for permission to marry ava was just beautiful.
3. The possibility of you is better than the reality of anyone else. This quote people it was just amazing. I was like dayum I need to take two minutes and scream.
4. Overall the plot was actually pretty lit in this book but the one thing I didn't like about this book was how they fucked every two pages literally but they were kinda friends with benefits but I'm a hopeless romantic so when I was expecting a cute angry confession I got an angry sex....
5. I also love how they actually struggle with money lowkey because all the other book the characters were loaded with cash so that was a bit realistic yk
☆ Twisted Lies
1. Omg when I tell you this book was perfection I mean this book was perfection. It was like Ana huang took all the critics and molded this book into perfection. It was everything.
2. The way Christian was obsessed with her from the moment he saw her but never labelled it as love but just everything he did was wow. I will worship this man he's amazing.
3. Touch another man, he dies. Let another man touch you, he dies. Tell me I can't touch you...and I die. This had me in a chokehold I was like.....AAAAHHHHHHHHH
4. Also the way all the other 3 men just made fun of Christian and the scenes where all the characters were together was just really funny.
5. I love how Christian was always there for Stella and supported her ❤ like asjdhrkjdhsk
Overall all the books are amazing. These people live rent free in my head. But the fact that all of them got a happy ending and are successful and shit is like probably the fakest shit ever but then again it's books so eh. But on a real note photographer, queen, lawyer and fashion designer like are ya kidding me??? And the diversity their friend group has like Asian, European, American like wow. I have to say I'm not a huge fan of the smut in the book but then again that's just my personal opinion a lot of other people loved the smut tho so idk. And can we talk about how all of them have the prettiest names ever??! My most to least favorite book would be
Twisted lies
Twisted love
Twisted hate
Twisted games
My most favourite to least favourite twisted men would be
Christian harper
Rhys Larsen
Alex volkov
Josh chen ( his I lied thing just set me off)
My most favourite to least favourite twisted women would be
Ava chen
Jules ambrose
Stella Alonso
Bridget von ascheberg ( I don't like her being last but I love those three way more )
Overall id give the series a 9/10

Dread by the Decade: The Tell-Tale Heart
👻 You can support me on Ko-Fi! ❤️
Tumblr media
★★½
Plot: After years of abuse, a weaver kills his master, only to be wracked by guilt.
Review: Though successful in some ways, this film ultimately lacks the dread and desperation cultivated by its source material.
Tumblr media
Source Material: The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe Year: 1941 Genre: Psychological Horror Country: United States Language: English Runtime: 19 minutes 40 seconds
Tumblr media
Director: Jules Dassin Writer: Doane R. Hoag Cinematographer: Paul C. Vogel Editor: Adrienne Fazan Composer: Sol Kaplan Cast: Joseph Schildkraut, Roman Bohnen, Oscar O'Shea, Will Wright
Tumblr media
------
Story: 2/5 - The removal of the short story's most horrifying element—that the unhinged murderer kills an innocent, unsuspecting man for a senseless reason—hampers the film and makes it a bit generic.
Performances: 3/5 - Schildkraut does a solid job portraying an abused man pushed to the brink, and Bohnen is likewise decent as his cruel abuser.
Cinematography: 3.5/5 - Some nice use of lighting.
Tumblr media
Editing: 3.5/5
Music: 3/5
Sets: 3/5 - Nothing special, but well-dressed enough.
Costumes, Hair, & Make-Up: 3/5 - Like all other elements of this film, the wardrobe is serviceable, but not terribly striking.
youtube
Trigger Warnings:
Mild violence
Abuse

"No inkling of a love story before this episode" (ep. 2.06)
I'm sorry, but did we watch the same tv show? I genuinely don't understand people who watched series 1 and where like "yeah, this is a totally conservative, good christian show. There's nothing queer at all in any of this."
All the insanity of the whole plot/premise is totally acceptable, but omg how DARE they love each other.

🦋❤️👑☀️I've read all of the Twisted Series by Ana Huang, so I need to put my thoughts on Tumblr ☀️👑❤️🦋
For reference, I didn't read them in order. I read Love first, then Lies, then Hate, then Games. But I could follow everything just fine.
Overall thoughts: I really like this series. I don't think they're literary masterpieces, and you can tell the themes that Ms. Huang sticks to in her books. But they're fun, the twists in the stories were good, and they were 🌶🌶🌶 muy caliente 🌶🌶🌶.
I will likely let Games settle for a minute then go back and read them as well as some of the additional material. If you like spicy romance with morally gray men who apparently aren't allowed to have functional families and beautiful, slightly naive women (other than Jules) who also have family issues, all with people who have more money than you will ever have in your lifetime, I recommend.
Below are some of my rankings! ENJOY! 🥰 (Spoilers Ahead)
Books Overall
Games
Hate
Lies
Love (but that doesn't understate its importance in setting up the universe.)
Couples
Josh x Jules
Rhys x Bridget
Christian x Stella
Alex x Ava
Male Leads
Christian (I will not explain)
Josh
Rhys (but it's close)
Alex
Female Leads
Jules
Bridget
Ava
Stella
Best Boombayah Scenes
Hate 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Games (which I was not expecting to be as spicy but 🔥🔥🔥)
Lies (low key wish there were more)
Love (I only remember the one with the couch because I need to reread it)
Nicknames
Princess
Sunshine
Red
Butterfly
Grand Gesture
Ohio
Italy
Costa Rica
London
Proposal
Rhys
Christian
Alex (though him asking Josh was so fucking cute it almost got bumped past Christian)
Josh (mostly because it doesn't happen until fucking Lies epilogue and we DON'T SEE IT)
Best Friend Overall
Ava
Bridget
Jules
Stella
How much I trust the male leads
Rhys (and it's not even close)
Josh
Christian
Alex (but he and Christian are close in the billionaires who've done a lot of shady and illegal things category, I'm just more scared of Alex)
How much I trust the female leads
Ava
Stella
Bridget
Jules
How likely I would date the male lead
Josh (he's the only non broody guy here, and I love a sarcastic, charismatic guy)
Rhys (overall great bf/husband but too broody)
Christian (looks are great but too sociopathic)
Alex (same as above, but Christian is at least charming)
How likely I would date the female lead
Jules (most real and fun)
Stella (looks and sweet)
Ava (most genuine)
Bridget (is a queen and I would be ✨️stressed✨️)
Breakups that hurt my feelings the most
Josh and Jules (which made me cry AND angry)
Alex and Ava (similar to the above)
Christian and Stella
Rhys and Bridget
Reunions that made me cry
Rhys and Bridget
Josh and Jules
Alex and Ava
Christian and Stella
Favorite Twists
Rhys's parentage and the parazzi leak (fuck you, Ellen!)
Who killed Alex's family and Ava's almost murderer
Jules's deal with Christian to get rid of the video
Stella's stalker ID and Magda origins (also shout out to Magda for being one of the most consistent characters for being an ugly painting)
Tropes
Enemies to Lovers (Hate)
Forbidden Love (Games)
Brother's Best Friend (Love)
Fake Dating (Lies)
Best Male Lead Not in Their Own Book
Alex (he literally comes in clutch for everyone)
Christian (in Games specifically)
Rhys (in Lies)
Josh (he's just better in his own book tbh)
Best Female Lead Not in Their Own Book
Ava (literally the glue of that friend group)
Jules (will kill for friends confirmed)
Bridget (because #is queen and for what she did for Ava)
Stella (also just better in her own book)
Best Sexual Tension
Christian and Stella (I was edged for 30 chapters 😫)
Josh and Jules
Rhys and Bridget (but was VERY close to #2)
Alex and Ava (again not fourth by much)

OBJECTUM MOVIE REVIEW: ELECTRIC DREAMS (1984)
Tumblr media
okay so i’m starting by saying this movie is Awesome. its awesome as fuck as hell. if you’re here for any sort of formal review, then i’m so sorry bc it’s not gonna be. yes, this movie is a cheesy 80’s rom-com. no, i don’t give a shit. it’s silly and real as hell! my only complaint is that i wish the computer got a happy ending. i really recommend this movie to anyone who is techum because it shows good romantic and platonic attraction (it’s only platonic if u don’t realize miles and edgar are gay). 8.5/10 ⭐️
