It's been what? Seven years now since the first film? It's been almost a decade and I still think about Mordo crying as Stephen leaves him to fight Dormammu and Kaecilius taunts him because he KNOWS Mordo is in love with Stephen and is about to have a complete breakdown thanks to Stephen's "betrayal" thank you for being mentally unwell about this ship with me for so many years. It's so comfy and nice to always have this sweet and peaceful fandom to come back to <3

This ship will always be 🔥 In every universe sweet Nonny. There’s just something so incredibly delicious about their dynamic. I can’t get enough. That scene alone may not have much dialogue but man the implications and headcanons streaming from it are amazing. Like why would Kae say that to intentionally hurt Mordo? 🥺 Must have a past there. Why does Mordo look shattered when Stephen leaves? 😭😭😭😭 And those few seconds gave fueled two ships, Kaerdo and Strordo 🤣 I fucking love it.

I’m so glad people are still visiting this blog after all these years. You guys have been absolutely wonderful ❤️ I’ll do my best to keep this blog cozy and peaceful. But if I need to bite, I’ll bite 🤣 😉

First of all, forgive my English is not very good, translation from the software. Ahem -- in the first film,Kaecilius keeps ceremonial paper in a roll-up wallet.

In the trailer and deleted footage, Mordo can be seen leaving the Hong Kong with what looks like a scroll in his hand.

In the behind-the-scenes footage, a scene in which Mordo summons Dormammu is deleted.

Well, I can imagine that one of the plans was to put Mordo on the same path as Kaecilius, and they might meet in the dark dimension!

I am going to assume this means that the characters' personalities stay the same, it's just that they have been reborn to live the lives of Marvel characters (Assassins versus Templars plot optional XD)

Alright.

First of all, we’ll focus on MCU characters because having the ability to choose from the entire Marvel roster will… well… it would require more research that would probably take too much time XD

Also, I will primarily be using Phase 1~3 MCU characters (focusing on the Avengers with some exceptions) because the post did have Infinity Saga MCU characters (yeah, that’s the main reason why).

Alright, let’s give everyone some new problems!

Desmond: Moon Knight. Okay, he’s the main reason why I said ‘with some exceptions’. I mean… come on. Come oooonnn. Oh course, Desmond will still suffer thru the Bleeding Episodes which would lead him to be the AC equivalent of Moon Knight. Not to mention, just imagine the absolute fuckery he will suffer thru when he meets up with the reincarnated versions of his ancestors while he still have his ancestors in his brain as the Bleeding Effect. Instead of Khonsu though, I suggest we go for Ra (for the sun irony) or, if you wanna stay in the Greco-Roman mythology that was strongest in Desmond Saga, may I suggest Minerva (to make Minerva suffer with him) or Dionysus?

Altaïr: Doctor Strange, hands down. Used to be an arrogant overachiever? Taken down a peg by some kind of tragedy? Still a bit of an asshole but now has an entire subject he could spend the rest of his life studying and be the top expert still? Becomes leader of a secret-ish organization trying to protect the world in what amounts to a short time all things considered? OP powers with a lot of glowing gold accents AND holds an OP artifact? Altaïr is, hands down, the nearest Doctor Strange we will have on this list. Sidenote: Malik gets Wong’s job of being the usually annoyed dude that has to keep Altaïr from bending the rules too much. The Sanctum Masters are the Rafiqs of Damascus and Jerusalem + Kadar. Karl Mordo will have to be Abbas (sorry Karl Mordo) while Al Mualim would either take the Ancient One (if we plan to keep him good in this one) or Kaecilius.

Ezio: Iron Man. He comes from a rich family with lots of connections, is actually smarter than people usually assume he is, flirts a lot but also carries a torch for a specific person in his life, and a tragedy in his life changed him. Of course, his father wasn’t a dick to him (up to you if we gonna kill Giovanni and Maria off for drama), Federico gets reborn as Happy (who is still Ezio’s brother but preferred to be his security officer), Claudia is still his sister but has Pepper Pott’s job (although, everyone in Auditore Industries knows it’s really Claudia who takes care of the everyday operation, Ezio is the inventor and the face of the company, Claudia is the shadow queen) and Cesare gets to be Justin Hammer. Petruccio can be the kid in Ironman 3 or he's just living his life as the third Auditore child who has cool 'toys' to help his weak body that his brother made for him.

Ratonhnhaké:ton: We can go for Hawkeye/Ronin, the normal human who can keep up with everything that’s happening (also, he would make a good parental figure for the Frye twins). Also, even if we call him ‘normal’, we all know he could kick everyone’s ass thru sheer determination and stubbornness alone. Another option would be Black Panther but I kinda want Adéwalé to be Black Panther?

Haytham: … is it weird I kinda want him to be Nick Fury? Like… he’s the all-time suffering man in charge who doesn’t actually have any authority over any of the superheroes he ‘conscripted’? I just want Haytham to suffer while, for once, not being on the other side.

Edward: Okay… I mean… I know there would be a Phase 1~3 character that would work for him, the easiest would be making him part of the Asgardian family drama but, may I suggest a non-MCU character? Daimon Helstrom. Because Edward’s actor Matt Ryan is sooo good as Constantine that I will always think of him as Constantine. Helstrom is the nearest Marvel equivalent to Constantine and he’s also a free agent type which works well with Edward’s character for most of Black Flag. (plus I got “canceled after a good season 1” deja vu with Helstrom as I did with Constantine). If you really want him to be part of Phase 1~3, Antman (Scott Lang) would work with Jenny taking the place of the daughter Cassie.

Shay: If Haytham is our Nick Fury, Shay gets to be his Maria Hill (second-in-command, normal human that can kick so much ass, and… that tight outfit) or Phil Coulson if you wanna go down the route of Shay doing his own thing.

Arno: Spider-Man because I think Ezio mentoring him would be a nice touch and… his first love Élise being a Templar is kinda similar to how Liz was the Vulture’s daughter. Still thinking about who his Ned should be though.

Evie and Jacob: Look, we’re talking about twins here so I’m pretty much obligated to make Evie and Jacob Wanda and Pietro. Although, this time, Jacob’s not gonna die. XD

Bayek: Steve Rogers (no, he will not be called Captain America, think of a more ‘universal’ superhero name) because he’s an all-around good guy, his default weapon in AC promotional images has him using a shield, and he started out as a man who just wanted to do what was right and protect his people that got sucked into the overarching plot because of a tragedy. Also… Aya as a badass normal human like Peggy Carter, hhhmmm?

Kassandra: You know, I was thinking that Kassandra could be Steve Rogers with Alexios becoming Winter Soldier. (Which I think would still work, we’ll just have to change Bayek into someone else…) But Kassandra has to be Captain Marvel, right? The OP powers and “not to be a lesbian but oh my god oh my god” vibes she gave off just made her suited to be Captain Marvel more.

Eivor: She’s gotta be reborn as Thor, right? Like… sure, Odin is right there but Eivor’s love for fighting and her loyalty to her people feels more like Thor than Odin. (Let’s not make AC Odin reborn as MCU Odin. I’d even go for Varin to be reborn as her father again or even Sigurd to have a bit of arrogance at this point)

Basim: Look. We all know Basim’s gonna be reborn as… Korg. Of course, I’m kidding. He’ll be reborn as Loki as we all expected. XD

Clay: Deadpool. He’s supposed to be dead, his mind got shattered after receiving his ‘superpowers’, and… he’s the only person in this cast other than Desmond that actually remembers who he was before. His whole ‘knows about the fourth wall’ shtick is connected to the fact that he still has access to the Calculations and that’s actually what broke his mind… again.

Oh, Karl. It's time to talk about Mordo.

I made a remark early in the film that the Ancient One collects kinda shitty people. Nobody comes to Kamar-Taj because they're well-adjusted people living healthy lives. Karl plays the role of the mentor to Stephen, but the red flags under the surface are occasionally visible and tragic.

Karl doesn't understand what the Ancient One has to teach. He understands enough. He sees the importance of their mission, and he is grateful to her for giving him a sense of purpose. He is a man bristling with violence, sharpened into a weapon by Kamar-Taj but restrained from true enlightenment by his need for purpose.

It's not control for Karl. It's control for Stephen. It's control for Kaecilius. But for Karl, it's purpose. To be a part of something bigger than himself, to devote himself to a higher calling, and to do his violence in that calling's name. That is what gives his life meaning. HARD MEN MAKING HARD CHOICES and all that.

(Honestly, the casting of Chiwetel Eijofor is perfect. Mordo is basically "The Operative from Serenity if he worked for us instead of them.")

And it's because of this need for everything to have a purpose, for everything he's done to have meaning, that he can't truly embrace the Ancient One's wisdom. Because the world that she sees is uncontrolled. It's wild. Chaotic. And all we can do is adapt and overcome.

Mordo cannot adapt. He needs his unbreakable truths of existence. And when his truths about the Ancient One are broken, when it is revealed that he's committed his violence in the name of a cause that is not so unyieldingly just as he believed, he snaps. The Ancient One teaches Stephen how to bend, but Mordo cannot bend. And that which cannot bend can only break.

Pairing: Supreme Strange x Female Reader

Summary: You would follow Kaecilius to the end. He was your master and your teacher. When he met his demise of Doctor Strange you went into hiding. You hid in the Dark Dimension, gaining power and made deals with anyone who needed your services. You earned the name ‘The Zealot’ as many associated you with Kaecilius. You set up a palm reader shop, offering your services to the mundane. So when the Sorcerer Supreme comes to your humble little shop, you can’t help but feel nervous. Will the sorcerer recognize you? What does he want from you?

Summary | Preview

“Kaecilius...” You said softly and turned around to see your master standing a few feet from you. 

He approached you and stood a few inches now. He tilted your chin up to meet your gaze. “My raven...You know I have a special place for you. But we must focus.” He gently brushed his knuckles along your cheek. 

You closed your eyes, savoring his touch. “Yes master...” You nodded and he put two fingers in between your brows. 

He closed his eyes and you concentrated. You showed him Karl Mordo and Stephen Strange making their way to the temple and subduing Kaecilius. 

The zealot leader stepped back and opened his eyes. “When is this?” 

“Three days from now.” 

“Then we must make preparations for our guest, hm?” Your master smirked and began to make his way out of the room. 

You bowed to him and watched him leave. What you didn’t tell him was that it was really the Ancient One coming. And there was no way your master would be prepared...

I Grade: The Dread Dormammu

Appearance: Dormammu, for what we have to go by right now, looks like shit. What were they thinking? They took a famous comic design and just threw it out the window in favor of some generic CGI abomination! With his servant Kaecilius, however, it’s the opposite - his original comic design sucked (it looks more like DC’s Deathstroke the Terminator than anything I’d associate with the mystic arts) while the look the filmmakers came up with looks stylish and formidable, especially around the eyes. As such, a 1 and a 5 balances out to a 3.

GRADE = 3

Performance: Mads Mikkelsen plays Kaecilius, while Benedict Cumberbatch, who also plays Doctor Strange, voices Dormammu. Both of these are fantastic actors, but they just don’t get the time or opportunities to really display their villainous talent here, especially the latter who only comes in at the climactic scene and isn’t even really the one who makes an impact in it.

GRADE = 2

Motivation: Dormammu is just pure evil, so he’s got no motivation. Kaecilius apparently had more of a motivation in production relating to his personal life and how the Ancient One’s hypocrisy negatively impacted it, but it’s completely glossed over in the actual movie. Instead, Karl Mordo is the one we actually see become disillusioned with the Ancient One and turn to the dark side on screen, which honestly makes Kaecilius come off as a little redundant.

GRADE = 2

Villainy: Just the basic evil stuff that you would expect. It’s passable, but not much else.

GRADE = 3

Resolution: It’s honestly hard to remember anything about Dormammu and Kaecilius except for how the threat they posed is resolved. Doctor Strange enters the Dark Dimension and confronts Dormammu, announcing “Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain!” Dormammu then kills him. Time rewinds due to the Time Stone and we’re back at “Dormammu, I’ve come to bargain!” Dormammu kills Doctor Strange again. Rinse and repeat several times until Dormammu finally realizes that he’s trapped in a time loop, and that killing Doctor Strange won’t stop it. The only way he can be set free is by recalling Kaecilius and his henchmen into the Dark Dimension with him. It’s a magnificent resolution since it relies on the hero outwitting the villain and being willing to endure constant defeat in order to achieve ultimate victory.

GRADE = 5

Overall Grade: 3; pure middle of the road middle-ness.

Ooh, 838 Kaerdo after 838 Strordo? Interesting! Kaecilius as an Average Joe, maybe he's not even a sorcerer, and now he's dating the Sorcerer Supreme. I don't think 838 Mordo would fall for cult leader Kaecilius. He had a loving upbringing and he isn't as starving for a Daddy's love as much as 616 Mordo is. Evil Kae would have no chance with 838 Mordo. I see a sweet, melancholy courtship with Kae knowing he will never replace Stephen in Mordo's heart, just wanting to make Mordo happy.

I really enjoy the idea of Kae being this sweet, non-murderous man in earth 838. Go on red right? ❤️ It makes me wonder how he and Karl would have met and developed their romance. I imagine Karl would have a difficult time realizing he’s opening up his heart again. After all he’s still grieving with the added stress of being Supreme. It’s just so much for him that I think adding a new love would make him rethink things. Mordo wants to be happy again, but I’m sure there’s guilt there too because he’s still in love with Stephen.

I see this Kae being very patient with him, and being mature enough to understand that Stephen and Karl’s relationship was a different level from most. It’s not a competition and he knows it. Yet he’s still there for Karl, not demanding instant reciprocation. I can see him having so much respect for Stephen as well. And instead of trying to get Karl to move on and forget him (which is impossible), he encourages Karl to talk about him and honor his memory.

Hmmm…..I guess earth 838 Mordo is gonna be the lucky one in terms of having people who genuinely love him 🥺
