You read something which you thought only happened to you, and you discover that it happened 100 years ago to Dostoyevsky. This is a very great liberation for the suffering, struggling person, who always thinks that he is alone. This is why art is important.

Meowdy!
I just wanted to start by saying that I adore Statistics and Purity Through a Prism.
Do you have any general advice you can give to less experienced writers? I’m also hella into making LiS fics, but I’m still trying to find my footing. Plus most of my projects fizzle out around chapter 5, and I’m not sure how to get momentum back after taking a break 😂🥰 how do you write stories that go for so long?
Thanks!
First of all thank you very much for enjoying my fanfics! I'm sorry that I haven't updated anything in a while, life and original fiction projects have pretty much taken over (I'll be self publishing a novel in the next few months).
For general advice, consider the following.
Keep an idea diary. Write down your ideas, just because you have nothing to go with it doesn't mean you won't later and don't be afraid to mash things together.
Learn about story telling as a craft. Study any and every medium and think about how to apply their lessons to word smithing. I highly recommend Every Frame a Painting, Thomas Flight, Hello Future Me, and Ellen Brock.
Read everything twice. Once for pleasure, once to tear it apart to figure out how the sausage is made. Dissect word choice, structure, pacing, foreshadowing, all of it. If you want to get better as an author, get better at media analysis.
Ask yourself why a project fizzles out. Did you lose sight of your original goal? Is it not turning out the way you hoped? Can you not remember where you wanted it to go? I tend to write with a few very specific scenes fixed in my head and I need to massage the characters to make those scenes happen and make sense. For Prism that was Kate and Chloe's clifftop kiss. Everything after that was kinda ad-libbed.
Embrace failure. Enjoy failure. Fail faster. As the Frizz would say: take chances, make mistakes, and get messy! You will learn more from your mistakes than from your successes. It's okay to be disappointed and upset when things don't go your way, but then dust yourself off and figure out what went wrong where and learn your lessons. (Just because you can write a novel in 3 months doesn't mean you should)
Your ideas are crap. It's okay, mine are too. Ideas always suck, they become good when you actually write the stories and find your blind spots. Make it work in the edit. You can change things right up until you publish, so play around and have fun.
It's okay to not finish projects. Use them as learning experiences. Practice writing better and better hooks. Find character's voices. Toy around with premises.
Practice with a purpose. With everything you write, pick something you want to focus on. Dialogue, pacing, structure, action, word play, imagery, etc. Pick something, study, execute.
Keep it simple. Elevator pitches are 30 words or less. If you can't summarize the crux of your story simply and succinctly, consider revising your idea to make it less complicated. Prism's premise is literally "What if Max never went to Blackwell". Statistic's premise is "What if Chloe was a homeless trans girl dealing for Frank". Complicated premises aren't bad, but they make executing much harder, and you don't need them to tell a good story.
Don't stop. Always be reading, writing, and thinking. Your creativity is a muscle, work it out. Hit the brain gym regularly with focus and intent and you'll see the growth.
I hope these help and good luck!

about White Rabbit Red Rabbit
Experimental drama at its best. See what happens with no rehearsal, no director, a different actor each night and a script waiting in a sealed envelope on the stage.
Each night a completely new adventure awaits – depending on how the author’s words compel each actor to perform. Internationally acclaimed White Rabbit Red Rabbit, by Iranian writer Nassim Soleimanpour, is a theatrical adventure embracing comedy and tragedy. An edge of your seat experience with some of the UK’s most extraordinary talent, you don’t want to miss this theatrical event of the year.
“I was born on Azar 19th, 1360 in Tehran. That’s Tehran, December 10th, 1981 in Christian years…”
Forbidden to leave his country, playwright Nassim Soleimanpour distilled the experience of an entire generation in a wild, utterly original play. White Rabbit Red Rabbit is as much about contemporary Iran as it is about power dynamics in the rest of the world.
Since its joint premiere in 2011 in Edinburgh and SummerWorks festival, White Rabbit Red Rabbit has been translated into more than 30 different languages and been performed over 3,000 times by some of the biggest names in theatre and film.

Hi. I don't know if you still use Tumblr, but I've came across you by coincidence and I really resonated with your posts. I've been back and forth about whether I should start studying paganism, and your posts kinda gave me the kick I needed to finally start researching. I wanted to ask if you have any recommendations on where to study or any materials, since the internet is full of information, but not all is reliable.
(I hope this doesn't come of as if I'm trying to find short cuts, I'm just really lost in where to start. And sorry if my english is bad, it's not my first language.)
Hello! My apologies for the late response and I hope you're still looking!
I have a few favorite books I can recommend, some have free online PDFs as well!
1. Taking up The Runes by Diana L. Paxson.
It's great for learning in depth how to communicate with deities through runes, and a good look at what runes mean!
2. The Way of Fire and Ice: The Living Tradition of Norse Paganism by Ryan Smith
It goes into again, a lot if detail around Norse Paganism as a whole!! It also touches on sensitive topics, like how to steer clear of Paganism symbols that have unfortunately been used by white supremisists and other excluding people.
3. Also by the same author, I recommend Spinning Wyrd!
Its another great book that expands on The Way of Fire and Ice!
4. Of course I must include the Poettic Edda, which us sometimes referred to as the Bible of Norse mythology. It has all of the original translated texts so you can learn everything yourself!
5. Outside of Norse, I recommend Of Blood and Bone by Kate Freuler! It goes deep into rituals for darker and more taboo Magic, but still very informative!
My DMs are also always open for personal questions and more guidance.

My friend just moved to a her grandmas old place and she doesn't have internet, so instead we dug out Grandma's trusty VHS collection and watched a bunch of movies from the cusp of Y2K. We also have plans to dig out more because this is our thing now, fuck Netflix. So here's my reviews so far:
Holes. what a GREAT fucking movie. Good message that is blatantly anti-prison industrial complex and anti-capitalist. good morals, good soundtrack, great casting, the author of the text wrote the screenplay so it hits hard like the book does, the romance between Kate and Sam will be goals to me forever. "I can fix that"!?!? KILL ME JFJDJWKWKFNJRNE 11/10 good shit. youuUuUUUU got to goOooOoo dig those hooooles 🎶
Another one that's still good? POTC: curse of the black pearl. Yes it's Johnny Depp Disney Garbage Trash, but it's WRITTEN SO WELL. Whatever writers they got for that shit obviously have written many a fanfic (positive! praise!!) bc the dynamics and dialogue btwn characters flow so smoothly. It's absolutely and utterly unlike real life, it's just the pirate story we all always wished we could be in, and it's still an absolute blast. for that I award it 9/10. This one was funny bc it came out on VHS in time for the commercials to be advertising DVDs.
Jimmy Neutron Boy Genius? This one's hard, cus this was one of my FAVORITE movies growing up. I noticed going in, however, that I remembered far less about what happens to Jimmy and his friends then I did about Caveman. Basically all I remembered was Jimmy's dad is stupid, and "when I sneeze it looks like a advanced species too." and that's bc Jimmy Neutron is a completely vapid and inane tale with absolutely no message, that unfortunately did not stand the test of time to me personally. It's pretty much unremarkable. they try to mix the "he's a genius baby" humor with 5th grader booger jokes and it just doesn't work, the booger humor doesn't land for adults and the genius humor isn't quite smart enough to be actually funny most of the time. Tbqh I think watching this as an adult gives me more ideas for horror movies than anything else. They go into space ON ROLLER COASTERS, WITHOUT HELMETS!!! They're fighting an entire civilization of space traveling ritual sacrificing EGGS and they have A SINGULAR! ONE! CHILD! ARMY! TO FIGHT THEM!!!! THEY CANT BREATHE OUT THERE! that's too scary I can't take it seriously lmao. 4/10 with all positive points going to Jimmy's hot mom and himbo dad (ideal romance tbh and where 90% of the humor comes from), Carl, Sheen, and Cindy, for screaming "THOSE FINDINGS WERE INCONCLUSIVE AND YOU KNOW IT" during their first on screen fight, that joke did actually land so they can have a cookie for it. And the teacher who gets turned small and gets left that way forever. What the fuck lmao
We also watched Pocahontas and I mean. Even as a kid watching that one was more of a lesson in "here's how NOT to talk about history," and as an adult, her "romance" with John Smith is more weak and pathetic than anything I've ever seen before or since! We got to "Savages" and all I could think was "Disneys orchestra really put their whole pussy into this one, huh?!?" I wish I could say the rest of the movie/soundtrack made it worthwhile but I'm gonna go with a solid 2/10 here. we still had a fun time tearing into their choices, and the aesthetic of an old Disney movie watched on VHS like nature intended is a form of ASMR. I didn't realize how much I missed the clackety clack of the plastic cases or the smell of a warm, freshly rewound tape. <3 good shit.
Stay tuned for more of my 20 Years Later: VHS Reviews No One Fucking Asked For! we're holding out hope that her parents still have my friends own VHS collection bc her and her sister used to have a banging VHS collection and I NEED to see Quest for Camelot.

Through the Storm
Tumblr media
Benedict Bridgerton, Anthony Bridgerton Ficlet <1k words Rated: G
Summary: Benedict's POV as Anthony rescues Kate.
Author's Notes: I played prompt roulette and got 'sad, Benedict, adrenaline'. This little canon idea popped into my head. The name and backstory of the valet Mr. Smith are the creation of @fayes-fics Enjoy 💙
Tumblr media
Benedict lauded Mr. Smith’s efforts to keep him safely covered with an umbrella but he wasn’t going to wait for the poor doddering man to keep up. He needed to reach Danbury House as quickly as his feet would carry him there. He didn’t know what on earth was going on, but the details were unimportant when he was certain that his brother needed him. Even his hangover was already forgotten, the one born from the prior night’s pity drinking after his family’s embarrassing non-event of a ball followed by Eloise’s public shaming which had left her crying in her bedchamber and unwilling to speak to anyone, even him. He had stationed himself outside her locked door to ward off any reprimands from Anthony or their mother, but drank enough from his prized flask that he hadn’t realized he had drifted off until Smith was half-carrying him into his own room. As he attempted a meager breakfast the next morning, looking out at the dreary downpour with his head in a vice, his valet had skidded into the house to inform him that Anthony was seen carrying Miss Sharma unconscious into Danbury House. Somehow just when his family had thought they were rounding the corner out of scandal and back into happiness, everything seemed to be falling apart.
He was dripping by the time he barreled into Lady Danbury’s foyer, Smith scuttling in behind him. He turned to interrogate a footman but then heard Anthony’s voice barking upstairs.
“She’s still shivering!”
That fearful timbre shot a jolt of adrenaline right down Benedict’s spine. It was the same voice that had cried for help from the lawn at Aubrey Hall, the one that had made him go numb with dread as he shepherded his siblings outside to witness a scene he somehow already knew would play out. Anthony never let his steely command slip unless something was terribly, terribly wrong. Blind to the footmen and maids who tried to guide or stop him, he bolted up the stairs toward the voice, toward the source of all commotion in the house.
Happily, the first person he saw as he entered the bedroom was Anthony, upright and seemingly unharmed. It was reassurance enough that he started to breathe again.
“What happened?” He turned to see Kate, soaked through and lying on the bed in a riding cloak, head lolling as a surgeon worked over her. “My valet saw you carry Miss Sharma inside. Is she alright?” As much as he hoped to blame a broken ankle or fainting spell for the state she was in, he knew in his gut something much more sinister had happened.
Anthony, haggard with no jacket and looking as if he had swum to the house, barely registered his appearance.
“I do not know,” his brother’s voice was hollow as he shook his head. His eyes never left Kate, filled with a rare desperation and fear. That was when Benedict knew that Anthony must be his focus. The surgeons would tend to Miss Sharma but his brother was his responsibility. There was a reason Smith had called for him when he saw the Viscount in distress. The man had worked for each of them in turn and knew how the younger could calm the moods of the elder.
Benedict clapped a steadying hand on Anthony’s shoulder. “Are you alright?”
Still his brother wouldn’t look at him. He looked instead at Kate’s mother and sister weeping in the corner of the room, at the surgeon’s bloodied fingers as he examined the back of her head. His jaw clenched in that way that signified he was barely maintaining composure.
“It’s my fault,” he rasped. “It is all my fault.” His voice wavered as his eyes continued to dart, taking in the scene of anguish, of mortal fear, one that they had both been a party to before. When his breath started to heave, Benedict knew his brother might slip beyond recall, might fall prey to one of his spells where he trembled and gasped like a man drowning on dry land.
“Anthony?” He tried to lock eyes with his brother, wrapping his arm tighter around his back so that he might guide his attention. “Anthony.” He felt his own desperation begin to swell as his calls fell on deaf ears. The Viscount’s chin quivered, his brows knitting as he surveyed the room one last time and then slipped out of his grasp and tore out the door with a grimace.
“Anthony!” Benedict moved after him but halted in the doorway, watching helplessly as his brother stalked down the hall. It was clear he didn’t want to be followed, clear he didn’t want help. As he had so many times before, he made the choice to contend with his demons in solitude, something Benedict would never deny him but something he feared Anthony was not as skilled at as he believed. Tight-lipped as Anthony was about the whole situation, it had become obvious to Benedict that he loved Kate, and the terror of seeing one you loved with their fate hanging in the balance was a burden he wanted to help shoulder. But he had been shut out. Ignored. His assistance rejected as it had been so many countless times that season. He had known it would be an eventful year when his brother committed to finding a wife but he had never expected the tempest of moods he had witnessed in Anthony, ones which Benedict was not permitted to navigate no matter how many times he tried. Nevertheless, he would stay. He would follow, steps behind his brother as he had always found himself in life, waiting. Waiting for the moment when Anthony needed him. Because while the Viscount watched over the rest of their family, he deserved someone to watch over him in return.

Hi Sex Witch! This is a book rec question, really. Do you have any recommendations you would give people who want to start reading about gender theory? I know I want to learn so much more about queer gender identity and about its cultural impact and growth in different places but I dont really know where to start because it's such a big topic to cover.
Gender related or not, thank you so much for everything you do!
god okay that's a huge ask and I don't want to just throw a bunch of super dense unapproachable text at you where you're just getting into it (Judith Butler is so good to read but they are WORK) so here's a long list of some authors you can pick and choose from
Sara Ahmed
Meg-John Barker and Jules Scheele's illustrated nonfiction Gender and Sexuality
Kate Bornstein
Ivan Coyote
Kimberlé Crenshaw
Angela Davis's book Women, Race & Class
Shon Faye
Leslie Feinberg
Cordelia Fine
Jules Gill-Peterson's book History of the Transgender Child (fairly dense read I will not lie)
Ruby Hamad's book White Tears/Brown Scars
Kit Heyam's book Before We Were Trans (haven't personally read this yet but I'm excited to)
Patricia Hill Collins
Mariame Kaba ("Makenzie she writes about prison abolition not gender" THE OPPRESSION ARE INTERLOCKING)
Mikki Kendall's book Hood Feminism
Audre Lorde (Sister Outsider is a great place to start)
Aileen Moreton-Robinson's book Talkin’ Up to the White Woman
Molly Smith and Juno Mac's Revolting Prostitutes is a BRILLIANT feminist analysis of sex workers' rights by sex workers
Amia Srinivasan's book The Right to Sex is just shakingly brilliant
Sabrina Strings' book Fearing the Black Body is a FASCINATING explanation of the formation of contemporary gendered norms and fatphobia as part of the creation of race, cannot recommend it enough
Susan Stryker
Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore
Kai Cheng Thom
Riki Anne Wilchins
Rafia Zakaria
this is obviously not a complete list please not one @ me, it's just! a place to start browsing!

YA Books about 🇦🇹 Austria
Tumblr media
List of Austria books for the YA World Challenge.
It's been quite a while since I did a country-themed list. This one has been sitting in the drafts for a while.
I have discovered that YA books in English featuring Austria consist of only 3 categories:
WW2 (sometimes WW1)
Empress Sisi (interchangeable with Marie Antoinette or Nannerl Mozart)
Eva Ibbotson
And that's it. Well, I'm kidding, but it almost seems like it. Here's the little list I came up with. Feel free to suggest any I missed - I mostly search through Goodreads to find these so the list is prone to mistakes and omissions!

Why Do We Love...
Bebe Buell
The first time we knew about Bebe Buell was as Liv's Tyler mum, instead of someone's wife/girlfriend. We built a website at piczo platform for some actresses we loved (Drew Barrymore, Jane Asher, Shannen Doherty, Kate Winslett, Liv Tyler...), and looking for some Liv Tyler pics, I found this photo set:
Tumblr media
[1980 baby Liv and mum Bebe Buell by Marcia Resnick, NYC]
Now, Liv wasn't a child actress like Shannen or Drew, so the famous was her beautiful mum! So we started googling about gorgeous Bebe, and we learnt that she was a very successful model in the 1970s and also had been posing for Playboy magazine.

[Covergirl: modelling for he British "Girl About Town" magazine, in 1976]
Bebe has a very interesting life. Besides being a very beautiful model, Bebe was also friend of many rock stars, girlfriend and muse to some of them, and was in the American rock/punk scene in the 1970s and 1980s. Todd Rundgren, Jimmy Page, Steven Tyler or Elvis Costello were some of her lovers; Patti Smith, Alice Cooper, Liz and Dick Derringer, Debbie Harry, John Lennon and Joey Ramone were and are some of her friends.

[Bebe in 1985 by Bob Gruen]
Bebe was a model and a muse, but she is also a rock musician and an author. She is a very spiritual woman and a vegetarian, so she respects animals and nature, beliefs in cosmic energy, UFOs and after-life once we die here. She knows about history and literature too, being a very intelligent woman.
Tumblr media
[Bebe in 2001 when she published her first book, Rebel Heart]
Like all the other muses, we built both a website and a yahoo group for her, and on Facebook we were friends with her and shared many photos and memories (until Facebook didn't allow us to be there under the "Little Queenies" name and were forced to delete it...).
Tumblr media
[Beautiful Bebe in 2003 at her daughter Liv's wedding]
Our dream, of course, is attending to one of her concerts or even get one of her two books (or both!) signed in person by her. To meet her either in Europe (London probably) or the States (more difficult but who knows!). We are full of joy to know and be aware that she knows about us!
Today, for her 70th birthday, we wanted to share with all of you, dear followers, how we knew about Bebe and what made us love her.
Here we share:
OUR BIOGRAPHY OF HER, WITH LINKS TO AMAZING SITES
HER POSTS IN OUR BLOG
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR ROCK STAR!
