I'm so sorry to have kept you all waiting on the requests, however I hope that now you see what I've been working on, you might understand why it took some time!! Especially when I've been working on this only in the evening, and while trying to keep my tiny human alive!
When I started this, it was originally a combination of requests/characters I really like! and somehow I ended up with 62 of them!! I'm hoping maybe in the future Ill revisit this, maybe try get 100?! But for now I'm glad to be able to take a break and start on other projects!!
This was really a labor of love, and I really hope you all like it as well! I did try my hardest to get as many details as I could, but I did take a few uniform liberty's here and there!! I hid a few little movie and game Easter eggs in there as well, let me know if you spot any!

That Part by Lauren Spencer Smith
Tumblr media
Summary: You and Kate have been dating a little less then a year but you couldn't help but think about a future with her.
Warning: pure fluff, Kate has anxiety, engagement, small mention of death
Note: thank you @sycamorelibrary754 for helping me with the ring lol
These moments were your favorite, quiet, peaceful moments with Kate. Inside your shared apartment, you weren’t an ex-HYDRA soldier turned adoptive daughter of Natasha Romanoff and Maria Hill, and she wasn’t training to take over your uncle’s mantel. You both were normal humans enjoying a slow Sunday morning. Kate’s head was in your lap, head turned to face the TV to watch the morning cartoons. You were reading, one hand holding the book while your free hand through your black hair. The book was a simple romantic comedy. You enjoyed these stories because they allowed your brain to have a break from the darkness that you fought every day. The characters were cheesy, and the plot was easy to predict, but it made you feel all warm and fuzzy. At the end of the story, the characters have a happy ending.
Happy ending. You glanced at your girlfriend, whom you’ve only been dating for a year. Maybe it sounded weird, but you wanted the picket fences, an arch around the entrance, and two IKEA twin beds for the kids. Your relationship started rocky, and both were unable to admit their feelings for one another. Your moms could have been more helpful, too. They made it clear that you were off-limits to all the new trainees. It was humiliating, but it didn’t deter the archer. You caught her staring at you; a blush would overtake her cheeks. When she asked you out, you kept it from your parents until your aunt caught Kate kissing you good night. It was better to tell them yourself than to come from Yelena. They took it well, surprising, but gave Kate the shovel talk. “Where did you run off to?” The sound of Kate’s voice pulled you out of your thoughts. Her voice was a few octaves deeper in the morning. You hummed, letting her know you heard her but were confused by her question. She chuckled, moving onto her back to look up at you. “You stopped playing my hair like 5 minutes ago. So where did you go?” She asked again, taking your hand in hers and kissing each finger. You smiled.
“Just thinking about you. Us,” she dropped your hand so it rested on her heart. It was beating fast, her anxiety skyrocketing. “All good things, I promise.”
“Tell me,” she said, sitting up and turning down the volume of the TV. You pressed the bookmark to the spine to avoid losing your place. “Tell me what you were thinking about.”
“It’s going to sound crazy out loud,” you admitted. “Promise me you won’t laugh.” She took both of your hands in hers.
“I would never laugh at anything you say.” Sighing, you bite your lip and focus on your connected hands. It was a stark contrast. Her hands were rough, callouses on her fingers from years of training to be the best. On the flip side, you were smooth. HYDRA used your brains, not your strength. You created the battle plan for every operation. You may not have pulled the trigger, but so much blood was on your hands. You sighed again.
“I was thinking about you, us, our future. I never expected to have a life like this, you know?” She squeezed your hands for you to continue. “When you hold me, I see the end of our movie where you kiss me surrounded by friends and family. I know it sounds lame, and maybe you don’t feel the same. I can’t wait for that part.”
“Would you take my last name, or would I become a Romanoff-Hill?” Your eyes shot up to look into her blue ones. Her eyes were calm but bold, warm but cold with little specks of green. They were windows to her soul. You chuckled.
“Kate Romanoff-Hill is a bit of a mouthful,” her hands moved up your arms and to your waist. It was easy for her to move you onto her lap.
“It is, but I like the sound of it,” your hands went to the back of her neck. “Are you saying you would say yes if I ask you to marry me?”
“Ask me anyway; I don’t care,” you leaned closer. “The only thing I care about is if you’ll meet me there.” It was the consent she needed to capture your lips with hers. Kissing Kate was your favorite. It made your stomach drop and your heart race against your rib cage. It made you feel at home.
*
There weren’t many things that scared Kate. She fought against HYDRA agents, enemies that threatened to disrupt the balance of peace and aliens from another planet. She wasn’t scared. All of her years of training have led her to these moments. However, she was out of her element here. She sat in front of Natasha and Maria in a conference room. She asked if she could speak with them privately after training. Dating you caused the archer to get closer to the Black Widow and Deputy Director; she saw them in a new light. More human, not the soldiers they were known for. During movie nights, Natasha liked to be held by Maria. Dinner would take a little longer sometimes because the couple would start dancing; you inherited that from them. Kate knew it was a privilege to see them like that. “What’s going on, kid?” Natasha asked. They were intimating, and she knew they would do anything for your best interest.
“Right, sorry, I know you have other things to do, and I’m taking up your time, so I appreciate that -”
“Kate,” Maria cut off her nervous rambling. “Breath.” She did just that, a few steady, deep breaths in and out.
“I want to ask Y/n to marry me,” Natasha let out a surprised noise from the back of her throat. “I had this whole speech planned to ask for your blessing, but my anxiety is getting the better of me,” she managed to get the couple to smile. “I am probably not the person you thought would be dating your daughter. I am impulsive, rash, and sometimes reckless, but I am so in love with her that I can’t see my future without her by my side. So I am asking for your blessing.” The room grew silent. Kate was positive Natasha could hear her heart beating against her ribs.
“Kate,” Natasha said. “You are spontaneous but also devoted, loyal, true to your heart. So you are the perfect person for our daughter.”
“Holy shit, I can’t believe you gave it to me,” Kate admitted. Natasha’s eyebrows went to her hairline. “I was given it like a 50 - 50 chance.” Maria chuckled.
“You make her happy. It would be foolish of us to take that away from her.”
*
“I’m so excited!” You said, probably for the 100th time, but Kate couldn’t care less. Your smile was infectious, and it was dampening the nerves in her stomach. They were going to St. Petersburg to visit Melina and Alexei; it would be the archer’s first time meeting your grandparents on Natasha’s side. She was nervous, especially since your parents and Yelena were coming along. The cherry on top is that Kate would ask you to marry her. She was a ball of nerves; if you noticed, you weren’t paying attention. “Melina had a new litter of piglets. I can’t wait to hold one!”
“Keep an eye on her, Kate Bishop.” Yelena teased. “She’ll try to bring one home again.” You rolled your eyes, sticking your tongue at your aunt.
“She almost got away with it, too,” Natasha called from the cockpit. “Until her bag started oinking.”
“It happened one time!” You defended. Everyone laughed as Kate put her arm around your shoulders and kissed your head.
“I’ll get you a pig one day, baby,” you wiggled in your seat and leaned against her. Yelena chuckled.
“You are whipped, Kate Bishop.” The archer flipped her friend off, and you giggled at their interaction.”
*
“Omg!” You shirked. “They are so cute, babushka (grandma).” You were leaning against the wooden pen as Melina was inside handling them. The piglets were skittish about new people and hid behind Melina and their mother.
“Are you going to try to steal one?” She asked. You huffed.
“No, I already got told no on the flight over. But,” you lopped your arm with Kate’s. “Someone did promise me they’d get me a pig.”
“I said one day, sweetheart, not today,” you pouted. “Besides, I don’t think we have enough space in our apartment.” Introducing Kate to your grandparents went without a hitch. Alexei made her swear they would spar before she left to test her strength and dedication. You were holding after a few bottles of vodka; the man would forget that. You saw Melina’s lips cruel up in a smile.
HYDRA and the Red Room’s paths rarely crossed, but you heard her name whispered among the higher-ups. After your adaptation, you learned Melina wrote your training program. It was hard for her to overcome that guilt. “Would you like to hold one?” She asked, standing up with a little piglet in her arms.
“Do you even have to ask?” You held your arms out so your grandmother could place the tiny creature in your arms. Immediately, you brought it closer to your chest. It amazed you how animals and humans were born so small and vulnerable. They relied heavily on those around them until they were more robust and capable of caring for themselves. At one moment, you were this small. Instead of caring for you, your birth giver gave you away. A slight squeal pulled you out of your thoughts. The piglet was getting comfortable. You looked up at Kate, staring at you with a soft smile. “Sorry, I got lost in my head for a second,” you handed the little one back to Melina. “You’re starring,” you said to Kate. “Do I have pig shit on my face or something?”
“No,” she said quickly. “I just think you are the most beautiful girl in the world.”
*
Kate thought it was impossible to fall in love with you more, but seeing you in St. Petersburg was a different you Kate got to fall in love with. There was a softness in how you acted around Alexei and Melina that you’ve never shown her. Kate was curious to know if she knew you were doing it. It was how you hung onto every word during Alexei’s ridiculous stories or your face lit up when Melina surprised you with a gift. It was adorable to watch, and Kate knew your parents loved to see it too, even though Natasha complained they were spoiling you. Kate was so in love with you, and she couldn’t wait to ask you to marry her.
You were curled up near the fireplace, reading one of the many books Melina had. Kate was 90% sure it wasn’t in English. “Hi, pretty girl,” Kate said, placing a new log on the fire. It wasn’t cold in Russia, but Kate learned you liked to have one every night. You smiled and lifted your head, asking for a kiss. Kate was never one to deny you that. She kept it quick as your family was in the kitchen. “I have a surprise,” Kate whispered. “Can I steal you for a moment?” You quickly shoved the bookmark in its place and took her hand. Kate led you upstairs, ignoring the thumbs-up Yelena sent her way.
On the first night, you showed Kate your favorite spot. It was through the window on the second floor to the flattest part of the roof and the perfect views of the property. You told her that Natasha and Maria had a heart attack when they found you asleep in the same spot. Kate opened the window and helped you to climb on the now-decorated roof. She heard you gasp as she joined you. A blanket with pillows and fairy lights lite up the dark space. There was a cooler filled with your favorite desserts. “You did all of this for me,” you said. Kate nodded. “Why?”
“Because I wanted to,” Kate chuckled. “Sit. Melina helped me make your favorites.” The older Black Widow was overjoyed when Kate approached her for help. Your favorite was the pitchy Moloko, a thick but light cake with a rich chocolate ganache glaze. She made medovik, a famous honey cake, and varenye, a traditional dessert with various fruits and berries cooked with sugar. Melina helped Kate make her favorite, syrniki, a fried cottage cheese pancake topped with apple sauce. You made it for her when she first started dating, learning quickly Kate preferred to savor desserts over sweets.
With your belly filled with sweets, you learned heavily from Kate and looked up at the stars. She had to admit she was jealous of the life Alexei and Melina built for themselves out here, away from all the fighting and bloodshed. Clint walked away from it, too. She could as well. “Thank you for this,” you broke the silence. “And for meeting the rest of my family.”
“No place I’d rather be, sweetheart,” she honestly said. As long as you were by her side, she would be home. “Actually,” Kate pulled away from you, smiling at your whine of protest. “I have one more surprise.” Carefully, she pulled you to your feet and took both of your hands. “Y/n Romanoff-Hill, ever since I saw you in training, I knew you were going to be trouble,” you giggled, a small smile on your face. “Even with your parent’s clear order to stay away from you, I couldn’t. I knew I needed to be in your life. I didn’t expect to fall head over heels in love with you.”
“It’s my charm,” you teased. “I get it from my moms.” Kate huffed out a laugh. Tears were forming in the corner of your eyes.
“You are the light at the end of the tunnel—my saving grace. I keep fighting to return home after the mission,” Kate said. She got down on one knee and took the ring out of her pocket. “Will you marry me and make me the happiest person in the multiverse?” She asked. You gasped, and your free hand covered your mouth as Kate opened the small jewelry box. Wanda helped her pick out the ring with your mom’s and aunt’s approval. The ring was more contemporary, with a square-cut diamond in the center and the bands intertwined with diamonds on the side. Tears were freely falling down your face. All Kate needed was your answer.
“Kate Bishop,” you whispered. “Of course, I’ll marry you.” The archer let out a sigh of relief as you pulled her to her feet. With shaky hands, she put the ring on your finger. It fit perfectly. You were quick to kiss her. Your lips tasted sweet from the chocolate and salty from your tears. You ended the kiss, keeping your forehead against hers. Kate could feel your breath on her lips. “I’m going to be your wife.” Wife. Wife. She was going to marry you. Holy shit. Kate laughed, lifting you and spinning you around. Your laughter was music to her ears.
“Come on,” she said. “I know some people are excited to hear the news.”
*
Your right hand was tightly in Kate’s. You were getting married. You had a wedding to plan and a dress to buy. Holy shit. “So,” Natasha smiled. She was the first to see you descending the stairs. It got the other’s attention. Instead of answering, you showed her your left hand.
“Finally!” Yelena cheered. “We can get drunk!” You laughed at your aunt’s antics and made your way around your family to show them your ring. It was beautiful, exactly what you dreamed about.
“Congratulations, squirt,” you turned around, surprised by the sudden voice.
“Uncle Clint!” You said, running over to the man and throwing yourself in his arms. “What are you doing here?” The man rolled his eyes.
“Do you really think we would miss your engagement?” This time, it was Wanda appearing through the door. “The others are coming.” You looked back at Kate, who had a sweet smile.
“You did this,” she shrugged.
“I had some help to make it happen.” Clint walked over to Kate and hugged her, kissing her on the side of her head. When you first met Kate, you told one person of your feelings for the archer. That was Wanda; you told her you would disobey your parents and date her. Now look where you were, surrounded by your family, celebrating your engagement. Kate wrapped her arms around your waist, resting her head on your shoulder. She swayed to the music that was playing.
“Where did you run off to?” She asked, kissing your neck.
“Just thinking about us,” you responded similarly when she asked you that Sunday morning. “Can’t wait for the next part.”

Not me who made a Hadir Karim playlist because I couldn't find any and had to put matters into my own hands..
Playlist link for those who actually want to listen here
Tumblr media
Not like it's a very long one or one that might be very connected to Hadir, just songs that make me think of him every time they start playing.
Here are the songs that are on the playlist:
1. waiting Room (Phoebe Bridgers)
Tumblr media
“Know it’s for the better” He stole the gas and used it because he wanted Urzikstan to be free. And “Plus, I know whatever happened to me, I know it’s for the better” because let’s be honest he probably knew he was going to die at some point, and he knew that it most likely wasn’t going to be from natural causes, not with the war he grew up in.
2. Fool (Bôa)
Tumblr media
“You and I, born as fools now.” I don’t know what it is about this line, but it hits and it makes me think of Hadir. Maybe because he used the gas, making Farah despise him. “You and I think, think we rule now” this mf became Commander at some point, which just ENRAGES Farah, no?
3. O Superman (Laurie Anderson)
Tumblr media
Well, does this song need any explaining? I found this song on a Farah playlist (made by one of my favourite Tumblr accounts, hence me making a post about the Hadir playlist). So if this song makes me think of Farah, it immediately makes me think of Hadir.
4. Love and War (Fluerie)
Tumblr media
Love and War, says it in the title, no? Plus, “the truth begins to show”? Him using the stolen gas to save Farah and Alex, but only killing the Russian army and some ULF soldiers (if I remember correctly). And don’t even get me started on “lover, hunter, friend and enemy, you will always be every one of these.” UGHHH it's such a good line and I think that it represents Hadir very well, maybe alongside Farah too.
5. In the house - In a Heartbeat (John Murphy)
Tumblr media
Do I really need a reason for this song? It's so good and it makes me think of numerous edit ideas (despite the fact that I give up on editing the minute I open Capcut), just the vibe and sound reminds me of Hadir, makes me think of his whole character development, his story, ect:
6.Forest (Twenty One Pilots)
Tumblr media
"The situation's becoming dire" The line makes me think of the moment when Hadir calls Alex to help him get the gas, making it be used and everything kicking off and him becoming the enemy. "And for some reason I smell gas on my hands" well, this needs no explanation. "This is not what I had planned" Although I think that Hadir knew that Farah would have gone against him the moment he decided to use the gas, I feel like he wouldn't expect her to basically turn on him so much that it seemed like she didn't love him anymore.
7.Army Dreamers (Kate Bush)
Tumblr media
I think everyone can see why I put this song on here, not only because it is such an amazing song, but also because Hadir is obviously a solider. Also, I know the song's meaning is about a mother grieving her son dying because of war. HOWEVER, the song does heavily remind me of PTSD that soldiers suffer from (more so from the music video where all their eyes are wide, which kinda is like Shell Shock/PTSD), and I'm 100% certain that Hadir, like any other character is CoD, would suffer from some type of mental illness, or nightmares, or grief/guilt from being soldiers.
8. I know it's over (The Smiths)
Tumblr media
The repeat phrase of 'Oh mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head" just makes me think of how he died and, in my head, I have an image of him just dead and, well, we know his and Farah's parents are dead. I don't know how to explain it exactly, been staring at this paragraph trying to figure out what the hell I'm trying to say. But it just makes me think a lot of him and his mother, because I seriously get vibes from him that he was a mama's boy before she passed.
9. Advice (Alex G)
Tumblr media
"The world is full of fishes, but I trust you" really makes me think of him and Farah, because the two of them would have had to relied on each other at a young age after their parents died and when they were building up ULF and during their time in prison. They would have had a lot of trust in one another, which makes sense with the amount of pure betrayal and rage we hear in Farah's voice when she finds out Hadir stole the gas and then used it. The two of them would have had such an almost unbreakable relationship, not only because they are siblings, they trusted one another and they went through so much, they would have HAD to have trusted each other.
10. Poison Tree (Grouper)
Tumblr media
This song alone has so much emotion to it, it ALTERS my brain chemistry. I love this song, so it just meant I had to link it to one of my favourite characters. Which, therefore, means it has a place on the playlist.
11. The Hand that feeds (The Crane Wives)
Tumblr media
This song screams Farah, but I feel like it could apply to both Hadir and Farah. Afterall, the both of them are doing a tiring job that is going to both mentally and physically drain them. It's dangerous and they know it. "My papa taught me how to growl, how to bear my teeth and growl", although in the scene where we see of kid Farah and Hadir, their father turns to Hadir and says to 'stay strong for Farah', this is probably one of the many reasons why he does so much for her, even if makes her fucking despise Hadir for what he's done.
12. I wait for you (Alex_g_offline)
Tumblr media
"I wait for you" I don't know what is it about the repeated line that makes me think so much about Hadir, about his whole character, but for some reason it really does.
13. If we have each other (Alec Benjamin
Tumblr media
The song that makes me, really, think of any two characters that are related. "So I'm thankful for my sister, even though sometimes we fight" the line is more so towards the usual sibling type fights that happens throughout with growing up with siblings, which would easily be able to apply to the two of them. However, it also makes me think about the fact that Hadir still loves Farah and calls her sister, even when she hates him. When he was dying, he even said to her that he still loves her even though she hates him now (something along those lines)
14.Where'd all the time go? (Dr. Dog)
Tumblr media
"There ain't no way to sweep up the mess that we've made" I know it says 'we' but I think that Hadir regrets what he did, even if he believes that it helps winning against the Russian army, I don't think he likes that fact that Farah hates him over it and he knows that he can't do anything to fix that, to 'sweep up the mess'. There's no fixing that, there was no fixing that broken trust between them after that.

Master List
(tag list at the bottom)
“Lights out, Granny, need directions.” Johnny’s voice echoed in her headset.
“Call me Granny one more time, Soap,” Y/N snapped into her microphone in the middle of giving directions to Johnny and Simon to allow them to get out of the dark building that had just lost all power. Johnny snickered and she knew Simon cracked a smile.
“Keep going straight and turn right, then take the third door to your left. Gaz and the Captain are waiting for you.” Y/N watched two dots on her screen move on the map of the building she’d constructed.
“Thanks, Gran-Gran,” Johnny snickered once more coincidentally as Y/N was taking a sip of her coffee she nearly spit it out on her keyboard but luckily she barely missed it and hit the edge of her table and the floor. She coughed and tried to chug water to alleviate her pain.
“Y/N, ye alright?” Simon asked as Price scolded Johnny.
“Quit trying to give L/N a brain aneurysm, Johnny,” Price shook his head as he watched him and Simon come out of the building with slight amusement.
Once Y/N collected herself, she looked up at the ceiling, then down at the mess she made on her desk that needed to be cleaned once she knew the team was safe. She sighed deeply into her microphone and returned her gaze to her monitors and keyboards, “If I don’t die of cyanide poisoning, I’ll die by your string of bad jokes, Soap.”
Kyle scoffed and mumbled, “That’s what she said,” under his breath.
“I heard that!”
“Enough!” Price’s voice silenced everyone in the car and Y/N over the microphone. The silence lasted just under thirty seconds before he continued, “Y/N, take us home.”
“Aye, Captain.”
“Thanks, Gran Gran.”
“OH, MY GOD. I’m telling Laswell.”
—-
“Kate, you have to help me,” Y/N held her head in her hands as she was slumped over her table, surrounded by tools and radios, and small communication devices in various stages of being taken apart and put back together.
Laswell smiled and looked over at her desk, shaking her head slightly, “You know I can’t help you with that stuff, Y/N.”
“No, not this.” Y/N looked up at her, not helping being able to laugh, “These people have decided to call me Gran Gran.”
“They call you what?” Kate thought about it, then chuckled, “Oh, I see. I can’t do much about that either.”
“Ugh,” Y/N sighed, then went back to work, tinkering with a radio. Kate checked her watch and nodded, “Speaking of which, they should arrive any minute.”
“Gran Gran, here are those old radios you wanted,” Johnny placed a small box of radios on her work table. Y/N looked up at Johnny from her monitors, daggers coming out of her eyes. It’d been a week and Kyle and Johnny had been calling her Gran Gran all week. Simon knew not to call her that unless he wanted to tease her - it happened once and she chucked a half-eaten apple at him.
And Captain John Price? He was the only one she could tolerate calling her that horrendous nickname. But the first time he called her that and after she told Laswell, she didn’t speak to him for almost two days. She simply would not respond to him. Y/N would turn to the person next to him and ask them to tell the Captain what was on her mind or her answer to the Captain’s question. She couldn’t help that the deliciously green Granny Smith apples were the superior apples in taste, size, and looks. She couldn’t help telling them to be safe on missions by saying “Godspeed” or “Welcome back, Soldiers.” She couldn’t help double and triple checking that their gear was put on correctly and made sure their radios and technologies were up to date and calibrated. She couldn’t help worrying about them whenever they left for a mission.
The nickname seemed fitting - and ironic since she ended up being the youngest member of the team.
“Will you ever speak to me again, Y/N?” Price chuckled and put his hands on his hips. Y/N crossed her arms and leaned back in her chair. This was Johnny’s and Kyle’s cue to leave. Simon followed suit, picking up the half-eaten apple off of the floor.
She blinked once for “yes.”
“Oh c’mon, you know they call you that in good fun!”
“I know! But out of all the things to call me, is Gran Gran the best you could come up with?” Y/N finally spoke. At this point, she couldn’t keep a straight face, and neither could the Captain. Both of them laughed it off.
“Well, it wasn’t me who picked it!”
A few hours had passed, and Y/N was nowhere to be found.
“Where’s Gran Gran?” Johnny inquired his captain.
Price sighed in amusement, then thought for a moment - he hadn’t seen Y/N for a while either, “I don’t know… Haven’t seen her since we came back this morning.”
“Soap! Captain! You have to come to try this!” Kyle walked by them with a plate of food, inhaling whatever was on the plate, mumbling and half moaning between each bite.
Johnny and the Captain looked at each other in slight confusion, then back at Kyle. He swallowed hard and spoke again, “Y/N made apple pie and it’s probably the best thing I’ve had in a long time.”
Johnny and Price looked at each other once more and then headed in the direction Kyle was coming from. As they approached the common room, the scent of warm apples and cinnamon became more prominent. Y/N looked up at them and smiled as she handed Simon a plate of apple pie with a scoop of ice cream on top.
“Hey! I was just about to come to look for you! Come have a piece, I just made it!”
Johnny’s eyes widened with excitement as his heart nearly skipped a beat. He thanked Y/N and waited for his plate, admiring it before taking a bite.
Price walked up and stood beside Y/N, waiting for his turn. He noticed a plate that sat to the side and watched as she took that plate and handed it to him, “And this one is yours, Captain. I saved you the first piece. The ice cream’s a little melted though.”
His heart ached as he took the plate, just looking at it, then back at Y/N, watching as she put a piece for herself and scooped out a ball of ice cream, and gently dropped it on top of her piece.
“Y/N, you didn’t have to! It smells delicious.” He almost didn’t want to eat it - it was too perfect. He watched and waited until she’d put the ice cream away to take his first bite until she did.
“Of course I did! I told you I’d make some. What do you think?”
Price nodded and nearly moaned in between each bite he took, “I don’t know where you learned to do this but this is stunnin’, Y/N.”
“Well good, because I’ve got another one in the oven.”
“There’s more?” Johnny’s voice echoed in the common room, making Y/N snort before she laughed, which in turn made the rest of the team laugh - including Simon, surprisingly.
Captain Price couldn’t help himself to laugh and put his plate down on a flat surface so he ensure he wouldn’t drop the plate, “Lass, are you alright?”
Y/N couldn’t contain her laughter, and tears started to form in the corners of her eyes. She felt her face grow warm and fanned a hand in front of her face and wiped her tears of laughter as she managed to calm down, “Yeah, I’ll be alright. And yes, Soap, there’s another one in the oven. There’s plenty of pie for you.”
For the rest of the afternoon and evening, the taste of warm apples and cinnamon stayed in the back of Captain Price’s mind. Who’d bake him a pie? Who saved the first piece of a pie for him?
“John?”
Her voice took his attention away from his paperwork. She stood in the doorway with her laptop and some papers in her hand.
“Y/N, everything ok?”
“Yeah! I just wanted to drop off the invoices and inventories from this past mission.”
“Yeah, almost forgot.”
Y/N walked inside and closed the door behind her and walked up to his desk, she handed him the papers, and his fingers quickly brushed against hers as took them from her. His hands were rough and calloused against her soft and nimble hands.
He couldn’t deny that feelings were forming - he couldn’t quite pinpoint what kind of feelings they were, just that he wanted her to be near him, he wanted to make sure she was always safe, and he wanted her to always be happy.
“Would you like me to go over them with you?” She sat down on the chair opposite him and watched as he went through the documents. She shouldn’t feel like this. The captain was good to her. He appreciated her skills and her efforts and she was a valued member of his team and she worked well with the others. She enjoyed watching him work and how he preferred looking at the paper over a computer.
But he also made sure that she felt welcome. How he scolded his team when they felt she didn’t do a good job, telling them that she did her best. Making sure she consumed something other than apples and coffee - even while he was on the field. How he’d held her and comforted her that night and kept her at arm’s length for the next few days after that.
He asked questions. He got to know her. His eyes lingered a while when he looked at her. She had his undivided attention when she spoke to him. He always saved her a spot during briefings, he always stayed close to her as much as he could when she had to go on missions with them and work from a makeshift base.
Y/N knew he cared about her, just as much as she cared about him. It wasn’t right to feel this way - especially since there was such a gap between their age.
“Yeah, pull up a chair.” He scooted his chair to the side and pushed his paperwork to the side to make room for Y/N. She stood up and held her laptop in one hand and grabbed the chair with the other, placing it beside him. She sat down and placed her laptop beside his papers.
She opened it up and waited for his instructions on what to update, who to contact, and prepare for the completion of the paperwork at the end of each mission. It was a ritual. At the end of every mission, they’d sit next to each other, leaning towards each other as they compared notes and findings.
It was quite amusing actually. Seeing Y/N working behind her laptop and Captain Price marking up paperwork, occasionally one of them would look over the other’s work. If they ever were disturbed, they’d both look up and stare at them for a moment before answering, scolding whoever disturbed them with their eyes.
But this was different. Something was different. They were more hyper-aware of each other’s presence. The Captain used to never notice that he could feel Y/N’s breath on his arm sometimes when she leaned over to look at his paperwork to transfer onto her computer. Y/N could smell his cologne every time he leaned over to point at her screen, sometimes actually touching the screen and leaving a fingerprint, then looking at her apologetically.
Occasionally she’d look up at him as he spoke to her and just get lost listening to his voice - usually, she’d catch herself and turn away to start typing on her computer, hoping that he hadn’t caught her not paying attention. Most of it was due to her being tired - they tended to work well into the night and his voice was so soothing. On more than one occasion Y/N would lean close enough to him, her eyes would get heavy with sleep and all of the sudden the Captain’s arm would feel heavy.
The Captain kept talking for a few minutes until he realized that Y/N was leaning against his arm, sleeping soundly. God, such a sight. He didn’t dare more. He didn’t want to. He didn’t even want to breathe for fear of waking her.
He looked over at her laptop to look at the time - 2:31 - then closed it with his free hand. His heart is aching to hold her properly. But he couldn’t leave her on his arm, it was going numb.
Every so gently he swiftly moved his body and positioned himself so that Y/N was leaning against his chest, hoping to whatever entity in the heavens that she wouldn't wake up. He slipped one arm under her legs and the other under her torso and lifted her, holding her close to his body. Captain Price nearly held his breath as he carried her out of his office and walked as quietly as he could to her room.
He cursed under his breath every time Y/N would stir, almost waking up. He finally made it to her room and gently placed her on her bed. Covering her with a spare blanket in her room. Before he could stand up properly and leave, Y/N stirred and groaned, waking up slightly. Before realizing where she was, she sat up quickly, then saw her Captain with his hands up, speaking in a low voice, “Hey, you’re ok! You fell asleep and I brought you to your room.”
Y/N blushed slightly, “...You carried me in here?”
“Sleeping on my arm couldn’t have been comfortable, Y/N.”
“I know… but you could’ve woken me up, John.”
“I know, but I didn’t want to wake you up,” He dropped one of his arms, scratching the back of his head with the other. “It’s late, Y/N, get some sleep. Good night.” Fucking hell, what am I doing? He quickly turned around to leave-
“Wait. Please?”
He stopped and half turned around and looked at her. Y/N was standing now and walked up to him. Both of them blushed, both of their heartbeats racing in their ears. Y/N opened her mouth to say something, then closed it.
Dare she risk it? He was her superior. He was in charge. She’d have to leave - or at least be transferred to a different part of the base - either way, she’d see him less. It was enough that he’d leave for days, sometimes weeks. She enjoyed being in his presence. She wanted to be in his presence, even if they didn’t do anything.
Maybe she’d attached herself to him. Maybe it was a result of what that other man did to her, but she didn’t care.
He hated when she looked up at him like that, it made his heart ache. He never wanted her to worry, be scared, or be tired ever again. He nearly jumped when he felt both her soft hands encompass his large hand.
The Captain looked down and then looked back at her, putting his free hand on her cheek, “Y/N…”
She turned her head closer to his hand, her cheeks becoming warmer. He took a deep breath and then removed his hands from her to wrap them around her body, holding her close. He took a deep breath, just taking her in. She looked so beautiful, even when she was tired, “You know we can’t do this…”
Nodding in defeat, but with understanding, she simply rested her head on his chest for a moment. Sighing heavily, Captain Price rested his chin on the top of Y/N’s head, smiling slightly when he felt her arms around his torso.
Was he going to regret this? Most likely.
Did he want to take the risk? Yes.

Okay but we needdddd more high school Edwina x Josie
Okay but we know Josie is stoked, even if she’s nervous to actually text THE Edwina Sharma but Edwina is also VERY excited. She’s had a crush on Josie for three years, and pretty much everyone except Josie knows it. Even Kate.
“What’s new with you?” Kate asked over the phone from university.
Edwina sighed, leaning back against her pillows, “I’m going out with Josie Bagwell this weekend!”
Kate gasped, “You finally told her you’re in love with her?! How’d it go?!”
“Technically her brother yelled out across the cafeteria that she wanted my number but she’s been sending very cute texts since then.”
And pretty much from that weekend onwards, Josie and Edwina are inseparable. Josie waits outside school for Edwina to arrive and waves awkwardly to Mrs Sharma while Edwina wraps her arms around Josie before they walk in hand in hand. And they’re always sitting at lunch together, Frankie winking at Edwina’s friends while Josie and Edwina giggle over something.
Even the teachers are sighing about it when Josie walks past with Edwina on her shoulders.
“Josephine, please put her down before you drop her!” Mrs Smith turned to her colleague. “Actually they’re very sweet together.”
“They make me feel so fucking single.”

so my poor poor mutuals and followers have been dealing with my bruce greenwood obsession for a better part of a year now and i'm so sorry but it's not stopping anytime soon i think
it all started when i binged the entirety of the resident in a week and a half this time last year and said to myself "ughhh i loooooove bruce greenwood, why have i been neglecting him for so long?" 😭😭😭
and in so doing, i found myself back here on tumblr, which led to aos boyce/pike fanfic (shoutout @ofsmokenandgold's "weight of a man" series and @gracieminabox's "the way our horizons meet" series. completely altered my brain chemistry they're both sooooo good)
which led to me going down the rabbit hole of watching everything he's in, stuff i've seen and stuff i haven't seen. i'm not even close to watching everything but i may or may not have created a spreadsheet breaking down how much he's on-screen in the stuff that he's in. because i'm a freak. (but at least @lizzy0305 supports me in this endeavor)
EXAMPLE: he's in the film "Flight" with Denzel Washington, he's plays an old friend of his but he's also the rep for the pilots' union. the film is 138 minutes long, and Bruce is on-screen for roughly 27 of those minutes. which comes out to about 19.5 percent.
the shows are going to be a pain in the ass to calculate. like The Resident. even though he's credited in all 100-something episodes, he's not actually in every single episode
St. Elsewhere is also going to suck because i don't really care for that show AT ALL. 😬 (that show has both bruce and mark, not at the same time sadly, but it still can't hold my attention, i really tried)
and that led to "hey i'm gonna watch some NCIS, i need a reference point for my guy phil boyce in these fics" because iykyk 😏 and then i somehow ended up watching THIRTEEN SEASONS ( @bowserbabe don't laugh at me.) i didn't really watch it too much back in the day but i somehow still shipped kate/gibbs because of course i did 👀 and also watching some of mark harmon's other stuff because he is also very very pretty (like prince of bel-air, he is SO EFFING GORGEOUS in that dumb movie, i love it. i'm probably gonna rewatch it soon. and i just watched the presidio again yesterday, a classic!)
and then i found some stuff of theirs on youtube; sleepwalkers with bruce and a young naomi watts and also surprise! jeffrey d. sams. it was very unfortunately cancelled after six episodes, i liked it so much! and reasonable doubts with mark and marlee matlin but the pilot is the only full ep that i've found on youtube... i really gotta find the rest of those eps. that show got 2 seasons so that's better.
speaking of youtube, i follow some comics youtubers and they also like polls over there. one was "outside of kevin conroy, who is your favorite batman voice actor?" options were: troy baker, jensen ackles (i think), roger craig smith, and of course bruce greenwood. so that's who i vote for, not just because i want him to win the poll (he didn't but he was in 2nd place) but because i do actually feel that he's the 2nd best after kevin.
then i came across another youtube poll asking "what's your favorite justice league animated film?" choices were: "justice league: new frontier", "justice league: doom", "justice league dark: apokolips war", and "justice league: crisis on two earths". and so i voted for crisis on two earths (and it was the clear favorite of the poll). y'know.. the one with james woods as the evil batman couterpart, owlman. he was so good in that role. he's so good as villains in general. probably because he is an actual villain irl so it's not really acting for him.... oh and also mark harmon as superman, no biggie. kinda wish he did it a few more times, he was pretty good.
so after pondering for a little bit and putting two and two together, now my brain is like, wait... huh... i want that 👀👀👀 i want bruce as batman and mark as superman.
and i do kinda ship batman/superman sometimes. 'cause why not? they're cute. and all of the fanart here on tumblr doesn't help! it's so good
i want art of this. i'd do it myself but i can't draw for shit, i'm just not talented in that way
so someone draw that for me, please? i'll give you money and find all of the reference photos you'd ever need. probably more than you'd ever want.
i don't know about a particular art style, it just has to obviously be those two guys? i guess it couldn't be an action scene because i want to actually see that it's bruce's face under the cowl so maybe they're hanging out in the batcave or fortress of solitude after some crime-fighting. or maybe they're out and about as bruce and clark in metropolis or something? nah, i want them in uniform but no cowl on bats! and it doesn't have to be shippy either (but i wouldn't say no 😁😁😁)

The Best Album Per Year for Sixty Years
Tumblr media
No-one asked for it, of course, but I do like making lists, so here's me pondering what have been the best Long Players in the album artform the past 60 years. I originally tried to keep it to just one per year, but many years that proved impossible: when listing multiple albums I have tried ranking them with the one I feel narrowly edges out the others first, and I use lower case to indicate an album that is not at the same level as others on the list but was the best I've heard from that time.
Feel free to have fun with the list and make up your own.

Hell Hath No Fury (7/?)
I’m so glad you all enjoyed the last chapter! It was about time they had a real discussion about her mom’s case…and they left no secrets between them. Castle’s secret about Smith bothered me in season 4, and Beckett didn’t have to hide a confession here, so it really seemed like he COULDN’T keep a secret like that from her in this case.
Beckett really earned her character growth by being willing to put the case down…at least temporarily until she has a real lead AND telling him she wants him with her when she gets justice for her mom is huge for her. It means she won’t run blindly alone into the battle next time…she’ll go with him. That’s really, really huge for her regarding her mom’s case. The way I see it, the emotional epiphany she had hanging off the roof at the end of “Always” is the same emotional epiphany she had here in this story with Castle being shot and almost dying…so that’s where she’s at in her head space right now.
To everyone who has read and reviewed, thank you so much! I really love interacting with all of you and try my best to thank everyone who I can. I hope you all continue to enjoy the story! I think we’ve all earned some fun and fluff for a little bit. This chapter starts right where the last one left off.
I still don’t own Castle.
xxxxx
They remained on the back porch after their conversation, enjoying the ocean breeze, each lost in their own thoughts. Instead of pulling her hand from his, Beckett laced her fingers with his after a few moments, silently creating a more intimate gesture than one simply of comfort or friendship.
For the first time in a long time, the silence between them was comfortable; sure, they hadn’t talked about their relationship…or subtext…or whatever was happening between them, but that would come in time. Right now they both just felt the relief from the weight that was her mother’s case and everything it brought with it lifting; they both felt like they could breathe a little easier.
Castle was the one to break the silence first, his thumb gently drawing small circles on her hand. “How do you feel about Chinese?” he asked softly.
“Hmm?” she turned her gaze to him as his voice brought her out of her thoughts. The feel of his thumb stroking her skin had sent her mind down a path she hadn’t allowed it to travel much until recently…a path where she couldn’t help but think how his thumb might stroke other parts of her body, and she had no desire to stop it right now.
He smiled slightly. “For dinner? There’s a great Chinese place I can order from. It’s almost as good as the Chinese you get in the city.”
Dinner. Right. “Sounds good,” she returned his smile.
Nodding, he released her hand and took her empty coffee cup. “I’ll go order,” he started. Seeing her make a move to follow him, he gently stopped her. “Why don’t you wait out here, and when I’m done, I’ll come back out and we can watch the sunset while we wait for the food? It’s a pretty spectacular view over the ocean if you’ve never seen one.”
“Sure,” she agreed, watching him disappear inside. Once he was gone, she ran her hands over her face and through her hair. Watching the sunset together sounded incredibly…romantic. She wasn’t sure if that had been his intention when he’d suggested it, but if he wanted to try to romance her, she had decided to let him. She wanted this, wanted him, and though she was still trying to find the courage to tell him that in so many words, she certainly wouldn’t stop any advances on his part in the meantime. She found herself wondering if she just dropped some hints maybe he would pick up on the subtext and they could find their footing that way, because doing this…a real relationship where she would be completely and totally all in…was not something Kate Beckett was comfortable with, nor knew how to do.
He interrupted her thoughts once more as he rejoined her, having exchanged their coffee mugs for glasses of wine. “My doctor said 1 glass a day is all I’m allowed right now. I would rather have it here with you at sunset than save it for dinner,” he explained softly, offering her one of the glasses.
“Thank you,” she responded, her voice just as soft as his as she took the glass, looking down after a moment with an almost shy smile.
Though she looked exactly like the Detective Beckett he was used to, he realized the woman standing with him now was all Kate…she was soft and shy and even more beautiful that he’d ever realized. He had known Beckett for 3 years, and he’d thought he loved her; but now, he couldn’t wait to get to know and fall in love with Kate.
She sipped her wine slowly, content to just share the moment silently with him. It was like neither one of them knew just what to say. They both knew they had to eventually talk about their relationship, what they were doing…but neither seemed brave enough to risk what they had yet either.
Once again, it was Castle who broke the silence. “My mother told me how you were there for Alexis the day I was shot,” he started softly.
Her eyes jerked to his at the mention of that day, the memories of how scared she’d been came flooding back. Instinctively she moved her body closer to where he was standing until she was close enough to slip her arm around his waist. She just needed to reassure herself that he was really still here. “I knew better than anyone how she was feeling at the time; I wasn’t going to let
her go through it alone and have her spiral out of control the way I did for awhile,” she told him quietly, her eyes focused on the wine in her glass.
He turned his body more into her, drawing her closer in the process. “You have no idea how much it means to me that you did that for her despite what I know you must have been going through.”
She looked up to meet his eyes, offering him a small smile. “I did promise you that if something happened to you, I would watch out for her. I don’t break my promises.”
Reaching out, he gently pushed a stray strand of hair out of her face. “I know you don’t,” he agreed softly. “But still…thank you.”
She tugged her lower lip between her teeth slightly as his fingers brushed her cheek. “You’re welcome,” she murmured, her eyes locking on his. “I didn’t just do it for you, though. I care about them too,” she admitted, finally breaking the eye contact as she took another sip of wine.
He smiled at her words. “I do know that, yes,” he nodded.
“This view is beautiful,” she looked back at the sun setting over the ocean as she tried to steer the conversation away from talk of his shooting.
“Yeah, it is,” he commented, his eyes never leaving her. His tone let her know the view he was referencing was not the same one as her.
Turning back to him, her cheeks flushed slightly. “Yeah, well you’re still on pain medication, so I’m not sure how reliable your opinion is at the moment,” she tried to joke. But she knew he’d always been attracted to her; no amount of pain medication was going to influence that.
“I’m not on as many pain meds as you think I am. If I were, I wouldn’t have been able to have any wine,” he pointed out. “You are beautiful, Kate,” he continued softly.
She noted his word choice. Beautiful. Every other time he had complimented her appearance, he’d use words like gorgeous or hot or sexy...words of desire, lust. But beautiful carried other implications with it, she knew, and he was a writer…his word choice was intentional. Beautiful was a word for love, not lust. “Rick…” she breathed softly.
He smiled at the way she used his first name. He slowly leaned in, giving her ample opportunity to back away if she wasn’t ready for his advances. When she didn’t, he smiled a little more as he moved closer. Just as his lips were about to touch hers, the doorbell rang, signalling their dinner had arrived, and he sighed, dropping his head at the universe interrupting them…again.
“You should get that…” she murmured, but she’d made no move to back out of his personal space.
“Yeah,” he sighed again, taking a step back from her and heading inside to get their delivery order.
It took Kate another moment to compose herself, draining the rest of the wine in her glass in the process before following him inside to meet him in the kitchen.

Dinner had been easy and comfortable between them; they’d shared meals before, both at the precinct and on occasion elsewhere. They were above all else friends first, and could easily have intelligent and pleasant conversations that went nowhere near the romantic boundaries that had started to blur outside earlier.
He gave her a tour of the main level after they’d put away the leftovers, his hand moving to find hers easily. He’d decided as long as her earlier permissions weren’t going to be revoked, he was going to take advantage of them. When they got to his office, he couldn’t help but grin as he watched her drawn to all the books he had lining his shelves, and he was reminded once again how much he truly loved her brilliant mind. “You’re welcome in here and can borrow any book you like whenever you want,” he perched on the edge of his desk, watching her.
She looked over her shoulder with a genuine smile before selecting a book, mostly to mess with him at this point. “Even if I want to read James Patterson?” she asked, holding up a copy of one of the Women’s Murder Club books with a teasing smile.
“Well I don’t know why you’d want to read Patterson when I have written over 20 best selling mystery novels, but sure,” he chuckled.
Her smile grew a little more as she moved closer to where he was still perched against his desk. “I don’t know. There’s just something about Patterson…he just does it for me. Hit’s the spot, you know?” she had dropped her voice to a huskier tone as she moved in closer until she was standing in front of him.
His eyes darkened slightly as he caught the innuendo in her words, and he reached out to grab her hips, tugging her closer until she was between his knees. Taking the Patterson novel from her hands, he placed it on the desk behind him. “I promise you, anything he writes that you think hits the spot, I can write better,” he said lowly. “You’ve read Heat Wave. I think page 105 more than proved I know how to hit your...spot,” he added arching an eyebrow pointedly, his word choice very intentional.
She swallowed hard, both from the way her body was reacting to the close proximity as well as
his words. “I don’t know…that sex scene didn’t really do much for me…” she countered, arching an eyebrow back at him. She leaned in closer, her breath teasing his ear as she reached behind him to grab the book he’d taken from her hands. “I think I’m just going to stick with Patterson for now,” she whispered in a low tone by his ear much the way she had after their very first case. “Goodnight, Castle,” she smiled, stepping back from him then and walking out of his office to head to bed, again, much the same way she’d walked away from him after their very first case.
He was left to stare after her, completely confused how she had played him so easily again, especially when he'd been convinced he had the upper hand this time. He shook his head with a grin. Kate Beckett should come with a warning label, he found himself thinking before pushing himself off his desk and making his way toward his bedroom.
xxxxx
Kate started to stir from her sleep when she felt sun hitting her face, but she refused to open her eyes yet. Between the pain medicine for her ribs, the wine and the ridiculously comfortable mattress in Castle’s guest room, she’d had the best night of sleep she’d had since before the shooting. She snuggled a little deeper into the covers, but as she did so, got a whiff of coffee and bacon close by…closer than it should have been considering the kitchen was downstairs. Her eyes snapped open and she saw an older gentleman in a suit and tie standing in her room, arranging a breakfast tray on the desk by the window. “Uh…hi?” she murmured, very confused at this point.
“Good morning, Miss Beckett,” the gentleman greeted her in a proper English accent. “Mr. Castle suggested I bring your breakfast up to you since you slept in this morning.”
She just looked at him, not sure which aspect of this entire scenario she was more shocked by. “I’m sorry, Mr. Castle didn’t mention you,” she shook her head.
The older gentleman gave her a small smile. “I apologize, Ma’am. I assumed he told you to expect me this morning. I’m Alfred. Mr. Castle hired me as his personal butler for the summer.”
She bit back the laugh that threatened to escape at the name…because of course Castle would hire an English butler named Alfred…and nodded. “I see. Well, Alfred, thank you for the breakfast. And please, call me Kate.”
“You’re welcome, Ma’am. Once you’re finished, let me know and I’ll come remove the tray for you. If you need anything else, please don’t hesitate to ask.” The older gentleman finished arranging her breakfast tray and then left without another word, closing the door quietly behind him.
She grabbed her phone from her nightstand and sent a text to Castle.
You seriously hired a butler named Alfred? Did he come as a package deal with a Batman suit?
She felt a little ridiculous sending him the text since he was just downstairs, but she wasn’t sure if he was taking it easy in bed like he was supposed to be doing or not. And he’d had his butler bring her up breakfast; she was going to enjoy it before leaving the room. Getting up from the bed caused her ribs to protest slightly, but not as badly as she’d expected. She headed to the bathroom before checking out the breakfast tray, and when she came back, she saw the text message back from Castle.
I know, isn’t it great? Sadly there is no Batman suit; alas, I will just have to be Bruce Wayne.
She laughed out loud and shook her head reading his message. He actually reminded her a lot of Bruce Wayne…millionaire by day who worked to help put away some of New York’s toughest criminals as a side gig.
Bruce Wayne gets the girls.
Tossing her phone back on her bed, she moved to examine the breakfast tray she’d been brought. There was an omelette, some bacon, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee. Seeing a small vase with a single red rose in it on the corner of the tray made her smile. She wasn’t sure whether Castle had instructed his butler to include a rose on the tray, but she assumed he did have something to do with it, and that thought made her smile more; he was trying to impress her, to romance her, and that gave her butterflies. She moved the vase with the rose to her nightstand before returning to the tray to enjoy her breakfast with a spectacular view of the beach.
xxxxx
I really hope you guys liked this chapter. I felt like this was a natural stopping point for it, and I also wasn’t sure Castle and Beckett could handle anymore innuendo and tension that I put them through for the moment.
As always, I love to hear your thoughts and comments! I did warn some of you guys in my responses back that it would still be a slow burn…
