keqing

when you found out keqing is secretly into rex lapis paraphernalia, you fought the urge to laugh. but that was then. now…you find yourself with a limited edition rex lapis plush. you couldn’t help it - it’s just so adorable you’d spend all your savings on it! fortunately though, you didn’t have to do that

though you then realize that you do not know how keqing would react to you having such a thing. would she be jealous? would she want it for herself? either way, you obviously need to find out her opinion on the plush for…reasons. you totally don’t just want to see her reaction towards you having limited edition geo archon merchandise

so you waltz to your shared home casually with the plush in your arms, you hugging it so tightly that you might squeeze out its stuffing. with a big smile on your face and a catchy hum on your lips, you enter your humble abode

keqing is, unsurprisingly, working in the living room (although you have a study room - you guess that she was simply waiting for you to come home) and she looks up once she hears your footsteps nearing her. she greets you happily but the moment she lays her eyes on the plush, her eyes widen

“i-is that what i think it is?”

you smirk as you nod vigorously in response. she folds her arms and shuts her eyes, assuming a pondering pose. you await her remark excitedly and for your chance to flex your little limited edition plush-

“i…already have that, (y/n).”

you feel your heart sink. then again, you should’ve expected this considering she is the biggest rex lapis fan you know but you suppose you clung onto that small sliver of hope a little too much. you try to reason that you bought it for yourself instead of it being a gift for her and she only snickers in agreement

she pats your back supportively as you sulk on the couch beside her and insists that hey, two is better than one after all; now you have your own and you two don’t have to share! though this does not help with relieving any of your shame but it’s the thought that counts

the next day, you see her hugging both of your plushies. she tells you not to say a word - not to her and not to anybody else. knowing her, you do exactly as she says.

zhongli

oh, now you’ve done it. this is the peak of embarrassment for you; here you are, living with the ex-geo archon himself, and yet…a rex lapis plush with the softest fur you could ever imagine is sitting in your hands. it stares at you cutely with his shut eyes, fast asleep in his own dreamland. how could you ever resist such an adorable little thing?

even then, you decide that you are not going to let him see you with the dragon-and-mini-him. you worry that he may be roaming the very streets you are walking through right now so you rush home, determined to keep this your “dirty'' little secret

the moment you step into your house, you relax and start making your way to your room to stash your little dragon away somewhere safe. where would work, you begin to wonder. would under the bed work? or should you hide him in your personal dresser? or even-

“(y/n)? is that…me?”

you freeze. you turn towards the direction of his voice hesitatingly, your cheeks slowly but surely growing red. there is no way to hide the plush in your arms. but at least there is a way to deny his statement…if you are to use the word “deny” loosely anyway

“y-yes? i mean, no! i mean, technically it’s rex lapis and you know, you’re not the geo archon anymore, you’re just zhongli now, hahahaha…”

you nervously laugh and scratch the back of your head sheepishly with your right hand, your left hand still clutching onto the plush firmly. following suit, zhongli offers a chuckle of his own. your cheeks are flaming red now

“what fine craftsmanship. it is no question that you procured such an item. and you are correct - i am zhongli.”

thankfully enough, he seems to not question it much. you don’t know why you were so worried; zhongli is quite literally one of the most open-minded people you’ve met. and that’s saying something for someone who has lived for centuries. so you breathe out a sigh of relief. until zhongli continues-

“although, if you simply wanted to hug rex lapis, you could’ve merely asked me. i would’ve been happy to oblige. i still am, if i were to be completely honest.”

you’ve had enough. you sink onto the ground out of embarrassment, your knees growing weak under his unintentional tease. he grows concerned and kneels down in front of you to check if you’re okay. and quite frankly, you are not

the plush now sits in your room (“your” as in either your individual room or shared room with him) and when he is ever in the mood to tease you, he will bring up the incident. he knows it always brings a blush to your cheeks.

A/N: GN reader in Jean's, Male reader in Keqing's, a passing mention of sex, no comfort. Keqing is quite mean in this one.

Jean Gunnhildr

You knew what you signed up for when you accepted Jean's proposal. Long hours at the office limited the time you two could spend together, and you were okay with it. At first. After three months of seeing her working herself down to the bone, you started taking interest in what she was *actually* busying herself with. You asked the other closest person to her, Lisa. And what you found was... You had conflicted feelings about it. On one side, imagining Jean climbing the rooftops in search of signposts blown away by the wind was quite funny, albeit frustrating. On the other hand, it broke your heart. This was what she was doing instead of taking care of herself? Instead of eating regularly, sleeping, spending time with you?

Another date idea, another promise. Another disappointment. You agreed on hanging out at 9PM on Star Snatch Cliff. You figured it would be late enough for Jean to have finished her work, but not too late to be tired. And Jean, despite having agreed to it, didn't show up. You waited for about two hours before heading back to the town. All of the candles, the bottle of dandelion wine, crackers and cheese you've prepared, splayed out on the blanket, looked like they were mocking you. How stupid you've been, they say, to think that she would come. You were even thinking that yourself. You took a sizable book with you to keep yourself from getting bored. It became a habit of yours when the streak of missed dates reached three.

Before you left for the city, the candles landed in the sea.

The first person you saw in the headquarters was Otto. You inquired about Jean's location, and heard the expected answer. It turned out that she passed out on her desk. Normally, you would scoop her up into your arms and carry her home, jokingly scolding the woman for her behavior. Maybe you would have done that two months ago. Now, you just shaked her gently.

As soon as her eyes met yours, she jolted upright. Her gaze quickly turned towards the grandfather clock in her room. It was well past midnight. She opened her mouth to speak, but you cut her off.

"What was it this time, Acting Grandmaster? Fighting some Hilichurls a boy with a sword could handle for a few thousand Mora? Or delivering fowls and berries to the Good Hunter?" You asked, a bit more harshly than you wanted.

"I'm sorry, Y/N, I really am. I just got all of these papers to fill, and I really had to complete them, I swear, and one hour turned into two and... and... it came out as it did." A slurry of words came out of her mouth in response. You could tell the tone was apologetic, but it meant nothing. It sounded like she cared, but nothing could be further from the truth. If she really was, she would have at least tried to change.

"Sure, sure. Let me see what the fuss is about." Jean raised her hand to stop you, but you snatched a handful of files from the top of her little pile of shame. 

"Favonius kitchen spendings." You flipped to another page. "Break room damage review. Maid work orders. What is this, and why do you have to waste your time on it?"

Jean stayed silent. She lowered her gaze, feeling a pool of shame in her stomach. There was no answer, really. She had a habit of taking all the bureaucracy she was offered. Jean knows this is bad, you've told her countless times. She promised to change, but it always went back to the starting point. She knew this was her fault.

Seeing her dejected expression, you almost felt sorry for fighting Jean right now, at this hour. Almost.

You still pulled out the wine bottle, and headed for her cupboard. Upon seeing your reflection in the clean glass, however, you halted yourself. Was this really healthy? Are you really going to try again? Isn't this madness, trying something you know won't get the expected results over and over again, hoping to see a change?

Yes, this was indeed wrong.

You went back towards the door, turning to the large flower pot in the corner. It housed a healthy bush of blooming dandelions. It was a gift from you for her twenty-third birthday. Getting these to grow in a pot was a struggle, even for Albedo whose help you enlisted. But after a few months you managed it, and you couldn't have felt more proud of it. It all seemed so stupid now.

In a burst of frustration, or sadness - at this point you weren't sure - you removed the cork (you've already unsealed the bottle to sip a little of the alcohol in order to help you cope with the cold and loneliness hours before) and tilted the bottle over the decoration. Jean watched in horror as the wine poured down to the soil, staining it red. Tears formed in her eyes. There was nothing she could say, nothing she could do. For the last year you showed her immense patience and understanding, helped her everywhere you could, comforted her when in need and she couldn't eve find a few hours in her day for you.

"Find me when you finally come to your senses, Jean."

She heard the door click close, leaving her in silence. Holding her emotions in became impossible as the realization dawned on her. She buried her face in her hands, and laid down on her desk.

It was all her fault.

Keqing

Loving Keqing was hard, to say the least. Being the Yuheng came with a lot of responsibilities, meaning little free time usually remained for you two to enjoy. Unfortunately, that 'free time' of hers would often turn into voluntary overtime, leaving you to spend your time alone. It was bearable at first. You met in the morning for breakfast before she scurried off to her tasks, and late in the night to rest together. She made a lot of promises to 'free up her schedule', and occasionally she really did. But the time you spent together slowly grew more awkward as her workload increased. Less and less interactions took place between you. It came down to a few 'good mornings' and 'how was your days', maybe some 'good nights' as well. The long debates about the future, friendly arguments about values, shopping and hiking, were gone. The spark in her eyes when you finally had free time was gone, replaced with a distant expression and a dull voice. Most nights you would just stare at the ceiling, holding your hand on the empty side of the bed to feel any connection to your girlfriend. Sometimes this loneliness would last for weeks. But it was your second month of isolation, and you were reaching a breaking point.

You pick at the food on your plate. On the opposite side of the table sits Keqing, practically inhaling the Golden Shrimp Balls you made her. It was late afternoon, and she had much more things to do. In a rare moment of realization, she took a fifteen minute break to visit you and have a meal together. In her eyes you could see all the thoughts rushing through her brain. None of the considerations were about you, however. Not a thought, even a passing one. She didn't try to spark a conversation at any point. Actually, scratch that. Having a meal together is saying too much. You were just eating at the same table.

Keqing pushes the empty plate towards you, and moves to get up.

"Thank you fo-"

You stand up and grab her forearm, preventing her from running off again.

"No, Keqing. We need to talk." You say firmly, not letting go.

She rolls her eyes, a gesture which makes your blood run faster.

"Y/N, is it really that important? I have places to go. Can't we put this off for later?" She asks, politely, but in a rushed fashion.

"Put off, you say? Put off for when, exactly?"

"For when I have free time, obviously. But that's not now, Y/N. I'm really busy with the Qixing because of the Lant-"

"The Qixing." You cut her off again, much to her frustration. "The Qixing. It's all there is to you, isn't it?"

Keqing relaxes her tug on your arm, seemingly caught off-guard by your statement.

"Come again?" She asks.

"I rarely see you do anything other than sign papers and run errands for Ningguang. You work six hours of overtime every day. On your own demand." You point out.

"Yes, and what about it?" She sounds annoyed now.

"What about it? Well, I get the feeling you prioritize them over me."

She opens her mouth to bite back, but closes it shortly. She tries again.

"That's not true. I do not prefer my job over you."

"Oh really? When was the last time we did something together?"

"We... We made love a few times recently, have we not? Isn't it enough for you?"

What.

She was right. You did. But the sex didn't make up for her negligent behavior, especially that it was so obviously forced. There was no passion, no excitement from either of you, like with your first few times. There was no chemistry between you. She didn't arrange any romantic meeting like you always did. She just randomly came up to you one night and asked, practically demanded it. You fulfilled her wish, obviously, but she didn't look very satisfied. Her mind was clearly somewhere else. As soon as you were done, she went for the bathroom and back to sleep in a span of ten minutes. She needed to get to work in six hours, so she wanted to get any sleep she could. All of this made it feel not like quality time, but like scraps of attention thrown your way.

And she thinks it's all you need from her? You voiced your concerns.

"You think so low of me?"

"Low?"

"Do you think it's all I need from you? Do you think a few kisses will suddenly make up for all of those times you've left me hanging, alone in the cold, because something came up?"

She huffs.

"Building a strong and prosperous Liyue is my dream, and I'm willing to sacrifice my personal things for it."

You laugh at just how selfish she is.

"You don't consider me a party in this scenario? You call me a thing? Oh, and wasn't starting a family one of your dreams, too? You said it a few months back, when we went on a trip around the coast. Have you forgotten already?"

Keqing furrows her brows, but the frown of annoyance doesn't leave her features.

"I want to make this country safe before we do that. These are the basic conditions, you know."

"A basic condition is also having a loving husband who wants the same, is it not?

"You don't love me?" It's the first question she asks, almost instinctively. It's the easiest thing to inquire about, and may give her some time to think of a response.

"I don't think that's the case anymore, Keqing."

Your answer throws her off guard.

"What do you mean?" She asks, now much less dismissive of your entire exchange.

"You feel... like a stranger to me. You rarely spend time with me nowadays. When was the last time you had a free day, during which we could just rest and do something fun? Go shopping, or to the mountains? Where are the long, meaningful talks we used to have?"

She is pensive. Combing through her memory yields no results of any recent rest days.

"I know it's been stale between us, I've been snowed under work, but I promise it's going to get better soon." Her voice is not so firm anymore.

"I'm sorry, but it's been two months. For sixty days you have neglected me. You showed me that strangers are more important than me. What was that hangout with the Traveler about? You can find time for him, but not for me?"

She remembers now. Indeed, she entertained Aether for a few hours, at first for job-related reasons. But it was simply fun being around him and Paimon, even up to the point when she agreed to go have a meal with the two. It ended up taking an entire day.

Her eyes widen as, slowly, the realization dawns on her. She forgot. Forgot about you.

"S-surely you don't want to...?" She asks, hoping to get a comforting response.

"Yes, Keqing. I think it's best we split up here. "

No.

No no no.

"B-but... what about o-our dream? About our family, our wedding, our future?"

"It's not your dream. If it was, we wouldn't be talking about it right now. But looks like you treated this more like a distraction. You treated me as a distraction."

Her heart cracks more and more with every word.

"That's n-not true!"

You let go of her hand and turn to leave.

"So I won't distract you any further. You have a country to run, after all."

Keqing grabs your forearm weakly, hoping, praying to make you stay.

"Don't g-go. Please."

You yank your arm away, and move away from the table.

"Goodbye, Lady Yuheng. Good luck with your work."

You've left the restaurant, and the woman is alone, safe for a few people in the corner. Her title falling from your lips hurt. It felt so cold and spiteful, despite being said so emotionlessly. Her mind raced, attempting to cover everything that would change from now on. Her plan was left in splinters. Since you were now gone, she couldn't propose on top of mt. Tianheng, like she envisioned it. You couldn't get married in the Jade Chamber. You couldn't plan and build your own house from the ground up. And you couldn't have children. You couldn't travel to Inazuma, couldn't have a beach day, couldn't start a garden, couldn't adopt a pet.

All of her dreams involving you just burnt to the ground in a span of merely ten minutes.

Her knuckles are white from how powerful her grip is on her purple dress. Keqing's fingers wrinkle the material as soft tears flow over her cheeks. She stiffles a sob.

Gone.

Everything is gone.

Modern AU - Gender Neutral Reader (No pronouns) - Platonic ft. Ningguang, Beidou, Yae Miko, Kokomi, Keqing, Amber, Eula

"You really don't have to do this Ningguang, I'm fine, I swear," You tried to excuse yourself, but felt it was no use either way.

"Come on Y/n! You deserve something fancy every now and then." Beidou reassured, pushing you through the entrance of an expensive name-brand store by your shoulders.

Today was a monumental occasion, to say the least, or that was certainly how it felt when the girls announced it. Amber, ever attentive to her friend's emotions, had seen the late nights, the endless cups of pure caffeine, and the hair-pulling stress you had been experiencing recently. Once she discussed her concerns for your health with the other ladies, Ningguang had the idea to spoil you with some retail therapy.

So here you were at the largest mall in the area, the bubble tea Kokomi bought you in one hand and a posse of fashionable women acting as your team of personal stylists around you. In front of the group, Miko, Keqing, and Eula stood before the map, planning a route to take you along.

"Well then, shall we?" Miko mused to the group.

"I believe an anticlockwise approach will allow the most efficient trip, starting from the top floor and making our way down." Keqing proposed, evidently taking her job very seriously no matter the task.

"Sounds great. Y/n, are you ready to go?" Kokomi asked, causing the group of women to look at you. You smiled, nodding at their enthusiasm, however subdued or evident the emotion was in each of them.

"Ooo! This top would look amazing on you Y/n!" Amber pressed a light top to your chest. Nodding in the confidence of her own choice.

"Yes, and this jacket would complement it nicely, wouldn't you say?" Eula presented a cropped jacket, the paneled colours matching Amber's choice.

"I believe these would suit the bottoms Keqing found earlier," Kokomi identified, matching an outfit in her head.

The women lead you back to the dressing rooms, where Beidou and Miko sat patiently waiting for your return. They had overtaken an entire stall in the corner for your use, the small wall hooks already flowing with garments of varying styles. The range surprised you as much as the volume did, from casual wear to formal, a rainbow of options laid awaiting your approval.

"Welcome back. I think we've gathered more than enough material to play dress-up" Miko prompts.

"Where are Ningguang and Keqing?" Amber asked, noticing the mentioned women were absent from the party.

"They're off searching for accessories," Beidou informed.

"I'd suggest you don't attempt to predict my movements Captain," Ningguang said as she and Keqing approached the dressing room. "I may just surprise you." The duo shared a smirk, as Keqing approached you, holding a simple, but elegant chain necklace.

"Here, we found this and believed you would take a liking to it," Keqing held out the jewelry, allowing for your scrutiny. You took it carefully from her hands, inspecting the beautiful piece with awe. The women around you gasped as tears began to fall slowly from your eyes, Amber quickest to come hold your arm in comfort.

"What's the matter Y/n?" Kokomi asked softly.

"Is it the necklace? If so, please know I am happy to remove it from your sight immediately-" Ningguang offered.

"No, no the necklace is beautiful," You choked, clasping it with care. Eula approached your front, carefully lifting your head from its bow and locking your gaze in her own.

"Y/n, please know we are here for you, and you alone. Your strife, no matter how small, will dissipate under my wrath, our wrath, should you only give the word," You smiled at Eula's comfortingly Eula-like words.

"It's just, I haven't been treated out like this in a long, long time, if ever," You began, attempting to wipe the tears from your face. "And you're all so kind to me, I still can't believe you're willing to go so far just to make me happy. I'm so lucky to have you all, and I want you to know how much I love you all,"

Without warning, your body was surrounded by the warm arms of a half-a-dozen women, many with tears in their own eyes.

"Shoot Y/n, you even got me crying," Beidou chuckled, wiping a tear from her eye as her other hand squeezed your shoulder, her arm encompassing the group in the wide hug.

"We love you soooo much!" Amber was crying the hardest of the group, squishing her teary face against your unoccupied shoulder, Eula coming up just behind her to support you both in your tears.

"You are always welcome to come to us if you ever need a break, you are entitled to our services, you know," Your remaining tears were swiped quickly away by Miko.

"We're here for you, always," Keqing agreed, hugging your side. Kokomi nodded quietly, focusing more on petting your hair lovingly. Ningguang took your face in her hands, smiling as she pressed a gentle kiss to the crown of your head. The love around you was warm, constant, and comfortable.

You hoped it would never end.

— slightly rough but when she sees you upset it is on SIGHT with the person who made you cry — will go batshit crazy. just for you — gives a very opinionated speech about how she would report this person who made you upset to the department head yadda yadda and it makes you smile

“are you guys sure about this?” mona asks.

“let them be, momo. if the barista reacts negatively to it, then it’s none of our fault," childe replies.

well, to formally start things, it was a normal afternoon when you and your circle of friends decided to go out for some coffee since you all had a vacant at the same time. however, nothing really goes calmly when either childe or kaeya is with you (worse if they’re both together)—which brings you right now to you, who had just finished saying all of your orders to the cashier.

mona rolls her eyes at the nickname childe wouldn’t stop calling her with. “still, what is going on in all three of your heads? seriously, making them name themselves “honeybunch”?” she replies to him. “calm down, mona. it’s not like every day there’s a hot barista that you just randomly encounter.” kaeya joins in, chuckling at his words.

“i say kaeya has a point! like have you seen him, mona?” you finally say. when your group had finally settled for a table, mona steals a glance at the barista that you’ve been eyeing ever since you stepped foot into the cafe. “well… he isn’t so bad, i guess. and he does look like your type.” she sighs.

“but do you even know his name?”

“his nametag reads albedo when i passed by him earlier when i came out of the restroom.” keqing approaches the table, taking the seat next to mona.

“damn, even his name sounds good.”

“seriously?”

after a bit more chitchat and catching up with your friends, you had a feeling that your orders should be done by now. and that was when you heard it.

“one iced latte for… my honeybunch?” you heard it. you heard him say the silly name you assigned for yourself.

it just popped up randomly, honestly. you didn’t want to be that concerning and say that your name would be “my darling” or just simply darling on it’s own. so you had to settle for something more simple. simple yet silly.

and what else could it be if not honeybunch?

god, this might’ve been the most memorable moment you’ve had in a cafe.

childe was already snickering when he heard it for the first time, and it seems like he’s not going to last any longer when he hears it for the second time either. people were slowly giving looks, not expecting to hear such a… unique name being called out to the barista. and mona was close to melting at her seat because of embarrassment over the shenanigan you had just pulled.

“(name), get up, you idiot. that’s your order," kaeya says. he’s starting to feel bad for the poor guy since he’s still waiting for someone to claim the order in hand.

quickly getting up from your seat, you walked towards the counter, where the tray full of your friends’ and your order were neatly placed. as you placed your hands on the tray to hold it, you felt albedo’s hand brush against yours—as if it were a reflex to help you carry that tray towards your table. and is it crazy to say that his touch felt a bit electrifying despite his hands feeling soft?

the day moved on as usual, much to your dismay. albedo continued on his shift, and you as well as your friends stayed there until you were all ready to go. what you didn’t notice at first was that there was extra tissue left. but what surprised you more was the message written on the tissue itself.

Starting off with our beloved Yuheng Keqing, in all this time in Genshin, she strikes me as a tsundere at the core of it all.

She's responsible, and is often busy working, so she would be very surprised with a reader that would suddenly cuddle them a lot.

She may also find it... time-consuming at first, since she is held in place by you when she wants to do work, but I believe that over time she will adapt your love for cuddles into her timetable?

Paperwork? Fine, she will sit on your lap and do her work, but don't do anything funny. And don't get caught, or else Ningguang will tease her about it

On a more personal context, I believe that she will greatly enjoy such cuddles. She is still a young lady who would desire affection from her lover, and she is secretly clingy in private.

Which is much welcomed by you, since you also love cuddles.

She's a terrible mess at home and wants to drop that stoic look of hers

I would believe in her younger years, when she was more innocent, she would be very cuddly. Very innocent, very trusting of those around her.

I think I can imagine her with a happy smile as she hugs you close as a child.

But, as we all know, her childhood isn't all sparkles and rainbows.

Becoming orphans, nearly being abducted, having to grow up in the House of the Hearth... which isn't exactly having pure intentions but better than what she previously faced with her brother...

I personally suspect that for the reason why she is rather stoic unless it is regarding those she cares about eg Lyney and Freminet.

And as a result is rather... not used to being touched by most people.

But you... You have a lot of work to do to make her feel comfortable.

I think the first time she would hug you is when she sees that you're sad over something. Maybe you would be friends, or lovers by then.

And over time... she would definitely accept your cuddles.

you and venti arrived at ayaka’s family mansion about a half hour after the agreed time for the party. a few people were already there, like ayaka stated, most of them being your shared friends and the hosts. the faint bass from the speakers could be heard from where you parked.

how you had become friends with a rich person was beyond your comprehension, but ayaka was genuine and nice, so her income didn’t matter to you and the same could be said for her. you were going to get fucked up tonight and forget the drama with kuni once and for all.

”oh my gods diluc is right there,” venti unlinked his seat belt and picked up the brown bag of alcohol he snuck (stole) from diluc. “please y/n, make sure he doesn’t actually fight me.”

”you’re fine, venti.” you laughed, unlocking the car doors and stepping outside. the temperature outside was nice, not too warm and not too cold - the perfect amount of sunlight and breeze for you to enjoy.

walking towards the entrance, you spotted diluc sitting with kaeya and thoma, waving at the three of the while venti stayed by your side, standing a bit behind you — promptly avoiding diluc’s gaze on them.

”venti, don’t try to hide from me. i know you took alcohol from my basement.” diluc sighed, running a hand through their hair; which, for once, was down with a small braid running through the left side. thoma was sitting on her right, braiding another section of his hair.

”fuuuuuck.” venti peeked over your shoulder, although diluc would never actually hurt venti, it was funny to see how scared the other would get. “heyyyy, diluc~”

”venti, he’s not mad at you—“ kaeya started. he was standing off to the side of the couple smoking and still wearing that damned eyepatch. did he even need that thing? you always wondered.

“don’t speak for me.” diluc glared at their brother with no actual malice in his eyes. thoma giggled quietly at the siblings bickering, leaning into diluc’s side.

”ah, guys, no fighting! come on, it's a party~!” thoma whined, looking at diluc with puppy eyes — you were a little jealous; most of your friends were in loving relationships (with each other at that) and that was... something you had once. not anymore though and tonight was to forget about him.

”ew, okay, i’m leaving.” kaeya fake gagged at the display of affection between them and linked arms with venti, “let’s go inside.”

”good idea. i need to set these snacks down.” you lead the three of you inside, spotting a few more friends around the room.

lumine, aether, and xiao were sitting in a circle by the fireplace laughing at whatever conversation they were having. you knew the minute you let go of venti's other arm, she'd leave your side and tackle xiao.

gorou, itto, alhaitham and kaveh were sitting on the couches, talking amongst themselves with drinks in their hands.

ganyu and keqing were in the back garden, you could see through the glass door, holding each other and being all cute and coupley.

but there were still a few people missing; tighnari, cyno, collei, kazuha, heizou, ajax, zhongli and yoimiya. regardless the cozy vibe was still there. and as soon as ajax arrived... the party would definitely get started. 

ayaka and ayato, the hosts of the get together, were in the kitchen arranging the food and drink platters. you ran up to ayaka, jumping onto her back to give her a hug. “i’m here!!” you cheered out, getting a laugh from ayaka.

”y/n!! i’m so glad you and venti made it here okay!” ayaka spun around and returned your hug.

”we did! and here are some more snacks and drinks for everyone.” you handed over the bag of collected snacks and venti handed over the drinks, greeting the hosts quickly before skipping over to jump into xiao’s lap and greet him with kisses.

“it’s nice to see you again, y/n.” ayato greeted with a head bow, hand resting over his chest as he did so. so proper!

”hello ayato! nice to see you too!” to be honest, you were a wee bit frightened of ayato from time to time — he had this air of superiority to him and that probably came from his looks, height and job. but ayaka and diluc insisted he was kind when you actually got to know him.

”enjoy the party.” he smiled at you with his eyes shut and then disappeared into the other rooms.

”so, do tell,” ayaka grabbed your hand and walked to the cupboard to get you a drink of your choice. “how did the roommate situation go?” she asked, knowing she meant well, you decided to talk about it with her — maybe she could even give you some wise words of wisdom.

”ugh,” you pouted a little, holding the glass while ayaka mixed and poured your drink. “it sucks. i bought him a cake because i didn’t even realize it was fucking kuni and then hid in my room all day. i know it seems shitty but… i don’t know!” as soon as she finished pouring your drink, you lifted the glass up to your lips and chugged it in one go.

”and then he apologized by getting me flowers? fucking tulips too…” you knew what flowers represented, tighnari was one of your friends after all. “and the worst part?”

ayaka raised an eyebrow at you to continue, letting you vent to your hearts content. “i feel bad. i even want to forgive him for putting me through that heartbreak...” you admitted, ayaka sighing and pouring you another drink.

”i normally wouldn’t recommend getting wasted this early but… you sound like you need to it.” ayaka picked up her own glass of wine and took a sip before thinking carefully about her next set of words, “it’s been years, has it not? maybe forgiving him and using this living situation as a turning point for a potentially new relationship might be good for you?” she did make a point... although you may hold a slight grudge towards kuni for ruining your senior year, the positive memories of becoming friends and eventually lovers outweighed the urge to hate him anymore.

”yeah, i think you’re right.” you mumbled, swirling your drink in your hand. “thanks, ayaka.”

”no problem!” she grinned, clicking your glasses together as a silent cheer.

the rest of the night went by fast — everything blurred as more people arrived and more drinks and gossip were spilled. ajax had arrived shortly after you did, accompanied by zhongli, yoimiya, kazuha and heizou. all were already a bit faded from hotboxing the car before coming inside and that only set the party in motion as blunts, drinks and bongs were passed around. before you knew it, you felt a buzz underneath your skin from your consumption of marijuana and alcohol. you felt like you were floating, and if it weren't for the pillow resting on your lap, you probably would have been a bit paranoid too.

music blarred loudly on the speakers, groups of people huddled together singing karaoke or talking shit. others were outside in the garden or pool, casually sipping their drinks and acting way too mature for a college party. and the other others were…. you were glad ayaka’s family home was large and had a lot of bedrooms for people to use.

meanwhile, you sat wedged between different people who were drinking, eating and/or smoking. currently, alhaitham and tighnari were sitting on either side of you while ayato was directly across from you on the other couch. you had loosened up a bit, finding ayato to be less scary and actually quite interesting when you were tipsy — especially after he went on a rant about overpriced bubble tea shops in the downtown area of where your college was located.

tighnari was a nice moral support too, keeping an eye on you while you got faded out of your mind. alhaitham was a nice guy to meet too — tighnari knowing him made it a bit more comfortable for you too. you were confused if the blonde he came with was his friend or unfortunate roommate who got dragged along to this party — and then you saw them fiercely making out in the corner and put two and two together. but even so, he was funny and sarcastic which complimented tighnari’s own wits and humor and you couldn’t stop laughing as they bickered back and forth over the stupidest of things.

the conversation around you didn’t register in your mind as you rocked back and forth in place in your drunken state, occasionally chiming in with “yeahs” and laughs. but that didn’t matter, because soon after yoimiya came down from upstairs and stood atop the coffee table in the middle of the living room and clinked a spoon on a glass, gaining everyone’s attention.

”alright guys, listen up!” yoimiya was smiling as ayaka stood on the floor beside her, making sure she didn’t fall off — although if you looked closely, you could make out that she was a bit nervous by the way her leg was bouncing in place.

“i know we’re all having fun right now but since, for once this entire night, everyone is in the same room — i think it’s time to talk about the woman of the hour!” cheers erupted when yoimiya hopped off the table and gestured towards her flustered girlfriend, who shyly held a hand in front of her mouth and bowed, saying thanks to everyone. 

“guys, please—” ayaka started but yoimiya shushed her gently.

”first, words from her brother!” ayato stood up, giving everyone a bow too.

”right. that would be me.” ayato cleared his throat, though he was a tad bit drunk too, he was much more kept together than anyone else in the room. “ayaka, my sweet little sister. where do i even start?”

ayato began quite a long speech about ayaka as a little girl, chasing after her dreams of being a figure skater as well as juggling the weight of being a kamisato heir — it was sweet, and at times you even felt like crying seeing how ayaka’s own eyes glazed over at the praise from her older brother. by the time he had finished his twenty minute speech, tears were spilled by almost everyone in the room and the kamisato siblings exchanged a long hug.

”wow, i don’t even know what to say...” ayaka wiped away a tear and laughed quietly.

ayato looked around before spotting yoimiya renter the room and gave a knowing smile, nudging his head for ayaka to turn around. “well, it’s not quite over yet. so hold your tongue.” she gave him a confused look before turning around and locking eyes with her girlfriend.

the room immediately quieted, everyone seeming to understand what was about to happen which made you (and quite literally everyone else) take out their phones and press record. you fought back tears, blaming being drunk and tired on the whole thing though you knew your emotions were already running high and getting drunk only made you think about kuni more.

”hi...” yoimiya was oddly shy, hands clasped behind her back in a poor attempt to hide something though ayaka was clueless nonetheless.

”hi!” ayaka laughed, tilting her head to the side at the blonde’s strange behavior.

”gosh, okay, you know i’m not good with this kind of stuff.” yoimiya laughed nervously, “so instead of giving a long speech like your brother here,” she looked playfully at ayato, “i’ll just do this-“

she got on one knee and ayaka finally seemed to understand what was happening; gasping and covering her mouth with both hands as tears welled up in her eyes.

”kamisato ayaka will you-“

”yes!! oh my gods yes!!” she practically tackled her girlfriend fiancé in a hug and knocked her over while pressing their lips together in a long, loving kiss. cheers erupted again as everyone started to congratulate the newly engaged couple, clinking their glasses together and hugging each other.

you, while incredibly happy for your friends, could not help but feel empty at the engagement. only one thought crossed your mind, and that thought was kuni.

could that have been us? a single thought that plagued your mind that you kept blaming on being drunk. why were you thinking of him now out of all times? was it because everyone around you was in a relationship and were clearly showing their lover(s) extra affection after the engagement? or was it because you weren’t over him yet? it was silly, you didn't love him that much to think of marrying him.

Hu Tao

While, at this point, most people would think that Hu Tao had no idea how to read a room, the funeral director was confident in saying that their theory couldn’t be more false, as she simply chose to ignore it whenever she could. So when you started acting increasingly shy and nervous around her, she was quick to pick up on your behavior. And once she noticed how you were acting, her discovering why was already on the horizon.

Of course Hu Tao used this gained knowledge to sort things out for the two of you. Or at least she will… eventually. After she got her fun first.

The longer you stared at the lines of the poem Hu Tao had handed you, the more of a weird feeling you got in your stomach. It was unusual enough for her to write anything that wasn’t at least 50% meant as a joke, so when you saw that it was about love you wished for nothing more than to either sink into the ground or wake up from this awkward scenario. 

What didn’t help was the fact that she continued to stare at you with a grin the whole time, not seeming to blink once whenever you stole a quick glance towards her.

“Uhm”, you tried to find the right words to start, only for Hu Tao to cut you off.

“Is there a problem?”, she asked, almost sounding genuine, if it weren’t for her grin growing bigger.

“Don’t take this the wrong way, but why didn’t you choose anyone else to proofread this?”, you nervously asked, seeing her playfully tilt her head from the corner of your eye.

“Who else should I hand it to? Xingqiu? Nothing against him, but he really isn’t made for criticizing romantic poetry”, she was quick to respond, letting out a small yawn as the first sunrails made their way towards you, causing you to realize how long it was since she had dragged you out here.

“And I am better at talking about these kinds of texts for what reason?”, you asked with all the sarcasm you could muster, both of you knowing damn well how bad you were with any material about romance.

“Your reactions are funny”, she stated almost matter of factly while raising her pointer finger and pointing at a specific verse in the poem, looking at you expectedly. “Reread this once more and tell me if there’s something to change”, she demanded, causing your eyes to scan those words once again, only for the realization that the person described shared a lot of features with you… Almost too many for this whole thing to be a coincidence.

Before you had a chance to say anything however, Hu Tao snatched the paper out of your hands, giving you a smile before playfully patting your shoulder.

“Oh no, it seems like a new morning has dawned, which means that a new day of work lies ahead of us, so sorry that I have to cut this short all of a sudden”, she feigned sadness, only to give you one of her usual mischievous smiles. “But hey, if you need to tell me anything, you know where to find me.”

Ganyu

When you first began acting awkwardly around Ganyu, going so far as to avoid looking her in the eyes, the more anxious side of her began worrying she may have unintentionally done something that caused your behavior, only for you to blush whenever she mentioned it before trying to assure her that everything was fine.

It was only after one specific, purple haired coworker of hers started to notice the way you two acted around each other and decided that enough was enough, that Ganyu was confronted with the possibility of you having caught feelings. And while the intention of revealing your somewhat obvious crush was to make the half Adeptus stop worrying too much, it turned out to have the exact opposite effect as Ganyu also began to turn into a nervous wreck whenever she was around you.

Taking the initiative in situations like these never was something Ganyu was all too fond of, her own anxiety not exactly helping in making things easier. Nevertheless here she was, waiting for you to meet her as she requested, doubts about this whole thing quickly starting to invade her mind, only for her to try and shake them off once she saw your form in the distance.

“Good morning Ganyu!”, you greeted her, a smile on your face as you made your way over to her, completely oblivious to how much of an anxious wreck she was at the moment.

Or at least you were until she presented you with a rose, barely managing to look you in the eyes as the color of her face started to turn into the same shade of red as the flower.

“I-I’ve heard of a nearly opened shop that sells beautiful flowers, so I wanted to… buy you one”, she mumbled just loud enough for you to hear, the sudden change in atmosphere causing you to start blushing as well, slowly taking the rose out of her hand, making sure not to sting yourself on any of its thorns.

“T-Thanks, I would have brought something with me too if I knew you bought me something. Please excuse me for a minute, I’ll get you something”, you offered, trying your best to get out before your nervousness took over completely, only to stop when you heard Ganyu speak up again.

“Wait!”, she almost yelled, immediately stopping herself once she realized how loud she was, lowering her voice drastically. 

“There’s something I wanted to tell you.”

Keqing

No matter what way she looked at it, Keqing couldn’t help but feel slightly infuriated. You were her secretary, the first one to hold out for such a long time at that, so why were you spending less and less time around her, preferring to pretend to be busy running errands around the office?

This wasn’t jealousy that was speaking of course, it wasn’t like she started to enjoy having you around her at work so much that she couldn’t help but feel lonely whenever you weren’t, but if you had a problem with her, you should simply tell her that face to face instead of trying to run away.

And so, the Yuheng decided to ambush you somewhere private, fully intending to resolve whatever issues you had in a direct way.

“O-oh Keqing. Is there something you need?”, you asked, nearly jumping as Keqing appeared from behind the corner, cutting off your way suddenly enough that you nearly ran into her..

“Yes. I need you”, she stated, her tone sounding slightly frustrated, only for her eyes to slightly widen once she realized that her words could be taken another way, quickly adding a few more. “-to do your job as my secretary.”

While Keqing may have been full of resolve when she set out to confront you, the longer she had to wait for you, the more she began to actually fear what could happen. What if you really had a problem with her? Would you resign? Did you not enjoy working together as much as she did? At this point it was fair to say that she was feeling somewhat nervous, increasingly hoping that this all turned out to be some kind of misunderstanding.

“I can’t help but feel like you're avoiding me. Even now I had to basically ambush you to get you to even speak to me”, she explained while crossing her arms, checking your face for any reactions before taking a deep breath and continuing, “If you have a problem with me, just say it”, Keqing tried her best to continue her confident facade, only for it to slowly giving way with each and every word, her nervousness making its way onto her face.

“I don’t have a problem with you”, you quickly blurted out, only to almost instantly be cut off by the Yuheng.

“Then what is it?”

Her question almost instantly managed to shut you up, causing you to look around nervously as you tried your best to find the right words to continue with. Eventually letting out a long sigh as you closed your eyes in defeat.

“Could we go somewhere more private? I… have some things I need you to know.”
