Not defending ai art, genuinely asking: does the "If you don't make it with your own hands it doesn't count" argument equally apply to photography, in your opinion? The exact same criticism was leveled against it when cameras started to become widespread, which made me start to think more closely about where I draw the line and why.

(From a Baltimore Sun article:

As early as 1842, a magazine writer was complaining that “the artist cannot compete with the minute accuracy of the Daguerreotype.” By 1859, essayist Charles Baudelaire was denouncing photography as “the mortal enemy of art.”

“If photography is allowed to stand in for art in some of its functions,” Baudelaire fumed, “it will soon supplant or corrupt it completely.”

And a few years later, the writer Hippolyte Fandrin lamented: “I greatly fear that photography has dealt a death blow to art.”)

Again, this is a genuine question. I'm not an AI fan I'm just trying to figure out why people (including myself) treat it differently from other image generation or manipulation methods.

Oh! Thanks for the ask! It prompted a lot of thoughts, actually. This got kinda long, but as a philosophy nerd I like this stuff so buckle up! (I'm purely freestyling this btw, consider it more of a philosophical discussion rather than something based on empirical evidence - nearly impossible to do while discussing what defines "art"):

Yeah photography is real art as much as any other kind of art. I should not have limited it to art only being art if it's produced using hands, but rather mainly involving the creative process of a human consciousness somehow. I think my comment in the tags was more of a way to express the opinion that "AI art will never be human in the same intrinsically valuable way that human-made art is". In my opinion, humanity is intrinsically valuable and therefore the human creative component is integral to art. This creative component can of course look very different depending on the medium.

One could however argue that AI art does involve human intention. It is the human that picks the prompts and evaluates the finished image, after all. As with photography, the human picks an object, frames it, clicks the button and then evaluates and perhaps edits/develops the image. The absolute greatest problem I have with AI art however, which the original post focuses a lot on, is the art theft and the fact that many companies are actually using AI art as a direct replacement for human art.

And AI art can imitate a wide range of styles taken from huge datasets of existing images and create something that looks like an oil painting, a photo, watercolour, digital art, graphite, or written works like poems, articles, etc! So AI art can be everything, with much the same creation process behind it. Photography might have replaced a lot of demand for portrait art and photo-realistic art in society, but that is only one single quite small branch of the overall ocean of genres within art (it perhaps rather expanded on it!) and eventually became a whole branch of its own with many different subgenres.

Some questions that popped up in my head while writing this that I realize might actually be quite difficult to answer (these are for thinking about & discussing only, don't read these questions as me trying to justify anything):

Is the process of writing in prompts for an AI work art? Why/why not?

Is non-human art less valuable than human art? Why/why not?

If AI art is theft, does it disqualify it from being art? If so, what makes it different from human-made art that is directly plagiarizing another person's art?

Is the human process of programming an AI considered art?

How could AI art be produced and used ethically?

My own conclusion from this is that Art is a difficult concept to accurately assign one single universal definition to, and just as with everything in human society, it is constantly evolving. Whether or not it does qualify as art or not at the end of the day, however, it does not change the fact that AI art is currently being used in an unethical way that is having complex and direct real life repercussions on artists.

Again, thanks for the ask!! I love stuff like this and I try to think about it as critically as possible. My own opinion is probably still mostly "AI art bad" but mainly because of the negative effects and the unethical practice.

(Asking "why/why not" is so valuable btw, it allows one to continue asking and answering questions almost endlessly and eventually either arrive at some sort of "root" answer or go around in circles)

Digital art done without a tablet (art progress)

July -> September

thought I'd share this comparison cos I feel like it really shows how I've improved in the few short months I've been doing digital art without a tablet!

also figured this might be a good time to talk about my process with digital art at the mo, which might be helpful to anyone who hasn't got a graphics tablet of some kind lol?

with both of these I started the drawing in my phone's notes app (I did briefly try another app on my phone but I found it wasn't as easy to use as the notes app... I might try looking for other drawing apps though so if I find a good one I may make a post about it lol) before transferring that file to my usual art program (which is FireAlpaca, in case you didn't know!)

I have to scale up the image at this point which does make the line art look pixelated, though I don't dislike it as I think it can help give it a pencil-like quality! it's not ideal if you want to create neat and smooth lines, though, so bear that in mind!

I then make the sketch background transparent (make sure to draw on either a white or light grey background otherwise this can be tricky to do!) so I can add the paint layer behind the drawing. I also sometimes add the paint layer directly onto the sketch layer if I don't want the sketch to be in the final piece (this is no different from the way I paint digitally with a tablet, though, so I won't go into great detail here)

I paint with just my mouse (specially my laptop's mousepad, rather than a separate mouse btw) which yes, before you ask, is a very tedious process lol! it takes a lot to learn how to control the mouse, and I definitely haven't mastered it yet, but like all art related things, it just takes practise!! I will say that I have yet to figure out how to do really blended paintings with just my mouse, but for the more painterly style I've been doing recently, using the mouse works a treat!

another note is that you can't really get pressure effects when drawing with your mouse or finger (which is effectively where the harder you press, the thicker and/or darker the line is), but I've just been working around it since the very first digital artworks I ever did had no pressure opacity to them lol...

idk tbh this whole thing is a learning process for me which is simultaneously frustrating and very exciting, and I look forward to seeing how I progress in another few months lol!

finally, I thought I'd share this drawing from 2013 I did drawing with just my mouse and a comparison to one I did recently too! I didn't use a reference with either so it's a kinda janky looking eye, but I like to think I've made some sort of improvement in these 10 years lol

I do it on my computer in my drawing software. If you don't have one, you can probably achieve just about everything that needs doing using this free software:

I'll break it down step by step how I made mine below the cut. there are lots of pictues. i hope this makes sense. we'll be recreating my Aether/Ardis one for this tutorial.

here is what we are going to do today

So step 1 is to download the template

I like using the transparent version because I find it easiest to edit for my purposes, but feel free to use the other ones as well if there's one you prefer. you'll just skip the first couple steps of this tutorial. Open it up in your software. I'm using Paint Tool SAI. It should look like this.

First, I'll drag in the background that I want and put it on a layer underneath the template. It will look something like this (you can also use a flat color, whatever you want)

Now I want to fill in the big boxes so that I can actually read the text, so I'll go back to the template layer and magic wand select the main bit of empty space (blue shows what's selected),

then invert it (there is probably a button for this on your software)

now I'll make another layer under the template and bucket fill what i want to be white

you can color in extra things you want to change the color of on this layer too, or just leave it as-is. I'm going to spruce it up a bit, though.

ok great. now i'm going to change the grey text boxes to be white because the light grey clashes with my pastels. this may not be necessary for yours. you can bucket fill those too on the main template, but I'm going to use what's called a clipping layer on SAI, which basically means that it's a layer that only draws on top of things that already exist in the layer under it (this may or may not exist in the software you're using, but do whatever works for you). so i'm going to make a new clipping layer over the template and color white over all the grey parts.

much better. it's time to cut out where we want our pictures to go. I find it easiest to work when I treat all the boxes like picture frames, kinda like how the ones in the bottom right are. there are other ways to do this, but this is my prefered method. so we're going to go to our template layer and magic wand select everywhere we want a picture to go (once again now highlighted in blue)

and delete those from both our template layer and our white layer. it should look like this now

so now all you do is drag in your pictures so that they're underneath your template, erasing any parts that stick out

and then you just add text and little rectangles and whatnot! (I added mine in a different program because my art software doesn't have a text feature)

I made a couple other adjustments to mine (black circle around the one photo, getting rid of the line at the bottom of the aesthetic trio) by just editing the template layer.

and that's it! all done! does that make sense? i hope that makes sense. if i skipped over anything vital or if that makes no sense, let me know.

Hi, my name is Crystal. I consider myself to be an intuitive abstract artist. My work involves a great deal of playing with paint, both digitally and real paint. I love to challenge myself with new color palettes all the time and don’t think I’ll ever be able to be known for a body of work that’s super cohesive in color scheme, especially digitally 😅. That said, there are certain color schemes I find myself returning to again and again. I understand that Moon in this situation is undecided. But I would like to know if the reason they do doordash is for fazbear or if it's to try and survive in the real world and that is currently the only way they can reliably make money?

Also I can definitely see Moon being the type to find whatever Y/N's job is to be extremely interesting (even if he will never admit it) and try to do whatever Y/N does for a job. Like if they are a digital artist of some kind- Moon tries to make digital paintings that he tries to keep away from Sun ect.

IF ONLY MOON WAS PROGRAMED FOR MORE THAN CHILDRENS DRAWINGS But that's cute as hell, oh my god. I could see him starting out with the default level of skill from the daycare days and just... This is not working. This isn't right. How do humans turn into printers??? what the fuck?????? So he'd end up both frustrated and also determined if he tried to copy that. Sun treats it like it's just adult arts and crafts but Moon being more like... Less active with the kids in that regard from back then just sees it as a normal hobby activity and it being something HE could do to help make money possibly instead of being just as shielded off from the world as YN would be (though not by choice, but he still can't really be trusted around humans safely) he doesn't have that many options. THOUGH this actually does kind of circle back to a headcanon I was debating pulling in for... technically 2 things I'm working on, but more for Sun cause he's more active with arts and crafts, of him having his own actual painting stuff that he works on in private during the hours the daycare is closed and painting pictures based on the descriptions the kids give him of the outside world, and also the images he's seen on their clothing so it would be a kind of surreal style of cartoony trees and more realistic ones, not totally gathering the concept that they're not both real, but also things from the Fazbear approved kids library of books for story/naptime they'd have with the varying art styles. Kinda sad before he gets to see the actual outside world and realizes he really doesn't understand how anything beyond the pizzaplex looks. Same for Moon though, cause even though he's got more free range of the whole place, he wouldn't have seen the world outside the shutters like the other animatronics can during the day so I AM REALLY digging the concept of them becoming artists in their other spare time. THOUGH cicrling around again, I don't see them still being "employed" by the Faz, this probably taking place a bit later after the plex initially burns to the ground and they end up as sort of a refurbished piece (stares at copper cogs longingly) that either slipped away from whoever restored them for (pick a shitty reason) or they're now working 'for' the person that refurb'd them that's still in that stage of treating them like a tool and not like a person which would also push Sun's anxiety and Moon's distaste for people into a more focal point (and also leave room for them to decide they're done with that guy and just... dip and try and move in with YN) for future plot~ (unrelated I have been eating up Sleuth Jesters this week piece by peace and it's giving me life~ I'm not all the way through yet though)

HONESTLY no poetry inspired me to write poetry (IRONIC) I thought I hated poetry!!!! I’ve written many things since I was a kid but always been more of an essay kinda dude..I attempted to read poetry a few times over my lifetime and mostly it made no sense to me..I thought it was just a bunch of pretentious ppl flexing their advanced vocab (which honestly I lack bc of a whole other story I won’t get into and maybe I was just jealous) - the only time I wrote a poem was back in final yr of highschool lit class when my brain was malnourished af and writing it made me want to kms plus I had major imposter syndrome (and then my lovely grandma went and sent it in to a poetry magazine without me knowing and it got published and still I didn’t think poetry was for me) only in more recent times I no longer have access to a psych who I can send weekly 3000 word emails to and I needed to do something so that I would stop driving myself completely insane bc I also live alone 4hrs from family and no friends so have noone to save me but myself so I started writing every day on wattpad like a digital diary entry(today was day 118 in a row) then I started to see others who had written poetry and combined w the fact that I’ve come very far over the yrs in terms with perfectionism (as in not needing to be) I found myself in a place realising that poetry didn’t have to be “good” and that I could just make it work for me. I could just write for myself. To get things out (even tho it’s only like 5% of my mind). It didn’t need to look impressive for others etc like what I used to think poetry did… so yeah basically poetry is just my budget therapy now and a tool to prevent me from ending things :))))) everything I write about (so far, at time of writing) is from real life experience and I love using it as an outlet to say the things that wouldn’t be taken so well if they were said out loud.. cause everyone has some sort of darker side whether they are exposed to it or not and whilst I do hold onto a lot of hope I love being able to have an outlet to get the rot out of me or at least create something with it so it’s not completely useless and all consuming. ALSO I think it’s cool that poetry allows you to turn your words into art. I’ve always loved art and ppl consider me arty or whatevs but I can’t draw or paint (well - not that it matters) so this is kinda something that comes more naturally to me! (I’ve only been writing poetry for 4 months now so hopefully I can only get better)… AND THANK THE LORD in the meantime as I have come to write my own poetry I am now able to appreciate other people’s poetry, I can understand it more, I can be inspired by it, I can admire it. I get it now. Or at least I think I’m starting to get it…. But to answer ur question l wouldn’t say it was a singular traumatic event which inspired it but rather a combined experience of like 20 genuinely traumatic events combined with being neurodiverse & a lifetime of various mental illnesses which I wouldn’t say are all treated etc. and quite honestly having read NOTHING in the past which resonated with the depth of my own experience so I thought you know what I know I can’t be the only one feeling this, I’m gonna try write my own! If I can’t read it I’ll write it and hope I can be that for someone else I guessss

Very curious still if the Stable Diffusion and other AI lawsuits are going to result in another Napster-like situation. Adobe has already basically copy-pasted Stable Diffusion and is marketing it as Firefly. The more likely end result of the lawsuits looks like taking it away from the majority now and putting it in the hands of mega corps to sell instead (if it doesn’t win as transformative, that is). Still mixed feels on it all. And still neutral. As a piece of software doing what it was designed to do, it’s a major success. As an artist, I do have a problem with the term “Artist” being tacked on to people who make art with it, because they’re not. And that’s just a clear cut fact. Writing text into a prompt box, copy-pasting code and messing with sliders teaches you NOTHING about art or the fundamentals to make it outside of this magic box and requires you to know nothing about art or the fundamentals to use it to make something in. If you’re a visual artist, then you learn the same fundamentals that all of the visual mediums learn, value, composition, anatomy, color theory, light and shadow, line, et cetera. You aren’t no longer an artist if you switch tools from painting to sculpting, because you’ve already learned the basic rules and fundamentals to make it regardless of the tool set, et cetera. It’s the same with any traditional or digital medium be it sculpting or painting or animating or anything else. A majority of the people using AI to make art, and specifically the ones who talk-down to the understandably upset artists, are not artists themselves. The software is the one doing the work and the one who has been visually trained, not the person behind the screen inputting prompts. Not saying they’re not doing any work, but the work they’re doing to help the software produce the artworks is not the work an artist would have to do. I have no problem with Ai Artists making art with AI or doing their own thing with it, people SHOULD be free to explore creative mediums and outlets of any kind as much as they want to and open to experiment. I just wish there was a better term to coin them as than ‘artists’ though, personally. As an artist who studied and dedicated myself upwards of 20 years of my life now to get better at and closer to mastering the fundamentals and who threw away literal decades of my life to improve my craft on the literal back-bone of my own sweat, blood, hard work and actual tears, it’s a huge slap in the face to have someone be treated as if they made the same life-long sacrifice and put in the work for clicking a button and have a code generate an image. Ai Art itself still looks fucking incredible and keeps getting better. That’s also a clear cut fact. I still think it’s provided an invaluable abundance of AMAZING fucking reference material like never before for artists to learn from and study from and I still think its potential at streamlining a pipeline is insane and will continue to have insane potential for classically trained artists as well, if more could set aside their egos and try it out. My biggest personal issue still just lies mostly with the general public en masse. Seeing week old AI Art accounts spring up left and right and hit 1-2k followers after spending again, decades of your life and getting nothing, is one of the worst fucking feelings in the fucking world as an artist and one of the most demotivating. It’s very easy to see and sympathize with artists’ concerns and upset around it. But it’s not the fault of the AI or the people using it. The end result is designed to be good and designed to be appealing. It’s not at fault for doing exactly what it was meant to do. And whether it was around or not wouldn’t change the shitty fucking nature of the general publics’ shitty fucking lack of support and hunger for consumerism that puts a lot of artists out in the first place. It is just kinda sad to see a whole new way that artists can be undermined and under-appreciated and treated like shit now. And it does make it really hard to not want to just fucking kill myself after wasting my entire life honing a craft I loved and praying that “One day i’ll make it if i just get good enough!” to keep myself going, mean fucking nothing, because some guy sitting in front of his computer with a piece of software installed is typing into a text box right now making some fat anime tiddies and getting paid more for it in less time than I have my entire struggling, soul-wrenching career. I didn’t mean for this to get this long. Sorry followers for clogging up your dash. some headcanons of my oc you've probably never asked for but i'm posting it anyway pt. 2

i'm back with another set of headcanons for my oc oribel! i added some canon parts from the game so this might be considered as semi-canon. tagging @solomons-cooking bcs u want to know more about my baby ><

- oribel's room is kinda messy, mostly filled with stuff she collects for her hobbies and never touches them. she does clean her room sometimes, and you'll notice that she organizes things pretty well. even if her room's messy or clean, her eye collection always stands out no matter what.

- even after learning mc's connection with lilith, she won't change the way she treats them. she will treat them just as kindly and remind them that they are their own person, and just because they were somehow related to their sister doesn't mean she has to treat them like they were lilith.

- she's the only sibling who knows about belphie's whereabouts and tried to talk to the both sides. seeing that lucifer and belphie wouldn't change their minds with her words alone, she warned them about the future instead.

- secretly tries to lessen mammon's debt by going to some of the witches he's indebted with. she also knows about the human child and sends money to the witches who takes care of them as well.

- levi once asked her to join the navy but she refused. he was confused and angry at first, going on about how oribel didn't want to be with her 'yucky otaku brother', but when he remembered her fear of the ocean he apologized to her non-stop. he still does up to the present even after being convinced that it was fine.

- oribel goes with asmo whenever he goes shopping, helping him choose some matching outfits and make ups. she carries some of his stuff sometimes and secretly buys something for him too. she goes to the club with him too, making sure he can go home when he's too drunk.

- she always makes sure that everyone's okay; that beel isn't always too hungry, that belphie is always well rested, that mammon doesn't steal often, that satan doesn't go overboard with his pranks on luci, that asmo goes home even if he's drunk, that levi still sleeps and that luci gets a break from his work sometimes.

- despite being a demon, her alcohol tolerance is quite low. because of this, she doesn't drink often in public. when she tried drinking once, she became drunk easily that she started crying and complaining on how unfair the curse on her was.

- speaking of her curse, it is kinda complicated. she should only do small things to prevent something bad happening. if she makes drastic changes about/choose to ignore something in the present that may affect the future, her curse will activate, making her go 'blind'. her irises will disappear, leaving her eyes completely white. sometimes she'll feel the pain she felt from their fall as if their father was there to constantly remind her about everything in the past.

- oribel was once put in charge of taking care of the cherubs, and she was quite experienced in dealing with children. she cares for luke the same way she does to the little angels back in the celestial realm, maybe that was why he's attached to her.

- she has a pact with solomon, and she somehow trusts him although she knows how shady the sorcerer was.

- oribel knows how to make art both traditionally and digitally. she painted a lot back at the celestial realm, ranging from portraits of her siblings, self-portraits and sceneries. she painted a portrait of their family before, and simeon kept it for her after they fell. she has an art page on devilgram and does art collaborations with levi sometimes.

- she visited the human realm with lilith a few times before, and she even got to know her lover. she saw that he was kind and loving to her older sister and it was enough for her to know that lilith was happy with the human.

- while falling, oribel saw a vision of lilith 'dying'. she assumed lilith was dead when she woke up in the devildom, yet she learned the truth after seeing another vision.

- if you hear metal clashing against each other underneath the demon lord's castle, it's probably oribel and barbatos sparring whenever they have free time.

- oribel helps simeon writing tsl, knowing that it was referenced to them. she does check the different outcomes in the future and rereads the whole story before publishing. soon after, she became a co-author of 'christopher peugeot' under the name of 'crystal peugeot'.

- as one of the avatars of sin, oribel has her own familiars too. her banner has a fox symbol and her color theme is light blue.

I absolutely love your art and how you color, I was wondering if you could give some pointers of your coloring process? It looks so clean and sharp and I have such a hard time with making it look too muddy on digital paintings

wahh anon thats so sweet of you to say thank you so much!! 🥰

going to focus on how i colour skin for this ask! also please note im specifically talking about colouring light skin here, the process for colouring dark skin would differ slightly (i.e. more highlights as darker skin reflects more light). colouring clothing is a bit more intuitive for me, i tend to just scribble about a bit on multiply/screen layers and see what works! (also as a note the drawing programme i use is the original paint tool sai)

ive slightly branched out into a more painterly style this year but the process is still more or less the same! i shade on multiply layers - there ends up being at least 3. highlights are done on sceen layers and again there tends to be 2-3. lets use this drawing i did lately as an example:

for me it just tends to be a case of figuring out where your lighting is coming from then build up some shadow layers! i tend to use a light purple or orange for shading. the last multiply layer i tend to use something like a dark purple / red and sparingly put it in areas where the light isnt hitting (i.e. eye sockets, nose shadows, inner ears, under chin). my multiply layers are all at different %s, the darker i want the shadows the highter the %. lets take a look at highlights:

im someone who loves looking at references! if you get stuck on where the highlights should go, looking at photos should definitely help. the main places i tend to put highlights are nose, chin, and cheekbones as they stick out and tend to get light bouncing off them, and forehead bc its a big ol' vast space of nothing where light tends to hit. again like with the shadows i build up the highlights and they tend to look lightest in the areas i just mentioned.

finally ill go in with the finishing touches which arent the same for every piece so i wont go too detailed here - i went in for a rim light around the outside of the face for this one as i think it tends to make the features pop especially against the darker shadows, and i also threw in a blue overlay layer at 25% over the top of this one for that melancholy lighting feel:

BASICALLY what this all boils down to is - i love to put every single tiny little thing on a new layer. i love using layers! i think using layers in your art might help making things looks less muddy, as the shading is all separate and you can mess around using different colour shades before you get something that feels right! if im drawing a fullbody with a background i tend to hit sais maximum layer count and have to start merging things!

also want to reiterate this is just how i do things and isnt the be all and end all. if you decide to do something completely different thats great - im always feeling at awe of people who do everything on one or two layers! ive built this drawing style up over many years and it comes very naturally to me now. i treat hair and clothes in a kinda similar way - i.e. building up multiple shadow and highlight layers.

the twins have a joint channel but they post things together as often as they make videos on their own. they do vlogs, story times, and challenge videos both together and not, but do stuff with fashion/makeup together. taako does cooking on his own and lup does chemistry experiments that involve fire more often than not. if someone says they like the twins’ videos it’s a wild card as to what they watch them for, but everyone ends up liking all of their content because who can hate the twins? they have a lot of “annoying influencer” energy but are actually really nice to fans/people in general and donate a lot of their Youtube Money to charities and stuff (all of the ipre does this too because fuck rich people except for them)

magnus’ channel is mostly woodworking/construction projects. he does occasional story times and in every one he’s carving and/or painting a wooden duck. he does vlogs too and half of them are him buying more woodworking stuff (idk shit about it so idk what he’d get lol) and the other half have a part where he sees someone walking a dog and him going to meet them. almost every video includes/mentions julia and people make “magnus talking about julia” compilations bc he loves his wife and talks about her all the time. he’s very positive in general and everyone loves how he’s a human golden retriever

merle’s channel is 99% gardening, 1% collating with the others. he made one joke along the lines of plant fucking and it was not serious at all but his subscribers/followers made into such a big joke that he makes at least one joke per video except for when his kids are in the video, which is when he makes it suuuper educational and fun and wholesome. mookie tries to eat the plants and play with the soil and mavis tells her dad about what she’s learned about biology in school. also he puts “(emotional)” and “(not clickbait)” at the end of video titles randomly despite knowing what they mean

barry’s channel is science-centric (yes he collabs with lup frequently) but about more feilds of science. sometimes he goes on rants about theoretical physics like a madman a la bdg’s unraveled series and sometimes he makes videos titled “making the volcano kitchen experiment but the size of a kiddie pool (emotional).” he also has a series about paranormal activity/cryptids, stuff like “why ghosts should be and are real” and “my top five favorite pieces of bigfoot evidence” and like i said this is a no magic au but he once was asked in a q&a about what he’d do if he was a lich and gave a surprisingly detailed response? people were really confused but intrigued?? did barry invent magic???

lucretia 100% has an art channel, but she also writes prose and poetry in her free time and sometimes reads them for videos. she posts speedpaints of her work (digital and traditional) with her telling her process/inspiration or doing story times as the background audio. she had a period of time where she started writing a whole novel in her spare time (basically the balance story but different characters) and all her videos were her making concept art. her fans loved it and boosted it to the point where it actually got published, so now she’s a best selling author with a seven book series. now she keeps making videos of her concept art for other book ideas (the other arcs) with her infodumping about the characters/plot/etc

davenport doesn’t actually have a channel, but has been in the background of all the others’ videos to the point where he’s treated like a cryptid and has a small fanbase of his own. he’s mostly in merle’s videos (because they’re dating) and magnus’ vlogs (because magnus Loves His Friends) but he’s been in at least a handful of everyone’s videos. he makes a twitter and instantly gets thousands of followers. he tweets the most random shit at the most random times and half of them become memes. people find out he’s a professor at the college the rest of them met at and everyone looses it

kravitz is in a similar position as davenport, but he was convinced to start a channel. he mostly does stuff involving antiques because he collects them, so he does haul videos of what he bought or thrifted and videos of him restoring them as he looks up how old they were and what random shit they were used for and stuff. people make compilations of him getting off topic and going on a tangent about taako then realizing he just rambled for ten minutes and getting flustered. he also plays a handful of classical instruments and makes occasional collabs with lup + barry

despite having completely different channels they’re all friends??? people didn’t know at first but they found out through davenport and kravitz “this one guy who i think is dating taako but i’m not sure and idk his name” showing up in everyone’s videos. from then on they started collabing more often and it’s really fun to see them outside of their element. lup once almost burnt down magnus’ workshop while making a chemistry video with him. taako tried to teach kravitz how to make macaroons (keyword: tried) and kravitz talked about this new antique shop he found the whole time. barry went on and on and on about biology while gardening with merle, who tried to follow along but failed and ended up making fun of all the scientific names for plants

they call themselves the red robes after the main characters in lucretia’s novel (they’re not similar to the characters but there’s seven of them and six youtubers + one davenport)

they once did a big group collab where the twins dressed everyone up in high fashion outfits and lucretia painted a big portrait of all of them. it was very wholesome but also had a lot of lup and taako arguing over what accessory fits who and “no this person should do their hair like this!” and at one point magnus and kravitz just dipped to go play cards and talk about dogs

speaking of wholesome angus has a channel of his own which is mostly booktube with him getting halfway through a mystery novel, predicting the ending, and being 100% correct. he’s done videos with the others and is kinda associated with them but not totally, and is often lovingly referred to as the nephew to the rest of them

killian and carey don’t have a channel but are in the bg of magnus’ videos often. they were referred to as “magnus’ lesbian friends” until they got popular on instagram and became an internet power couple. johann has a small channel and a soundcloud he plays violin on and did one (1) collab with lup and it made him blow up overnight. avi has a semi-popular twitter and is mostly known as johann’s bf. sloane and hurley have a channel about drag racing/cars in general and don’t show their faces and go by the raven and ram

i was trying to think of who’d have a gaming channel and it’s 100% graham, who casually mentions that he’s friends with Pro Wrestler Jess The Beheader

lucas has a science focused channel similar to barry’s where he tries to be educational and ends up being annoying/kind of wrong about it. barry has a mini series called “lucas miller is a bitch here’s why” and it’s him disproving lucas’ theories with a deadpan expression and generally being better at science than him

remember when i said taako and lup have influencer energy despite being nice? yeah, lydia and edward are like that but they’re actually annoying. they have a popular makeup/fashion channel and lup and taako have gotten into slight drama with them over how the wonderland twins have been rude to them and the how the red robe twins are “jealous.” the internet is divided over who likes which pair of twins better

lup learns that greg fucking grimauldis (who the twins knew in high school) has a popular twitter/insta platform and tweets the “i am to collect” speech out of nowhere from everyone’s pov. taako tweets the video he took of him telling her and her immediately going “no fucking way that ASSHOLE is getting away with what he did to me” and opening twitter. it becomes a meme and he pays her back and changes his social media handles to “gregfuckinggrimauldis”

i can’t think of anything else because i don’t know enough about youtube but yeah.

Its a new month which means I’m going to talk about books again for a minute! This is the biggest list of books I have ever read in a month in my entire life...willingly..like on purpose..I also bought 2 art books that were on sale and I got through the Audible Original Heads Will Roll which I thought was hilarious and I needed it in my life.

mostly the books I read are what I can get for free via libby and my audible subscription and...through youtube....audiobooks are easier for me to get through because I can listen when I’m at the gym or walking the dog or paining. And as much as I like shiny new pages, I cant justify spending money on physical books when I can get them for free thru libby. I usually have an audiobook and a digital book going at the same time. I read the digital one on the treadmill and before I go to sleep at night. So audio goes a lot faster.

Anywho, Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson I started a couple months ago but couldnt finish it in the 12 some odd days libby gives me so I finished it at the beginning of this month. They’re just so long they take up all my energy. I’m finding I dont think Im a fan of complicated magics and probably won’t be able to do high fantasy. I get bored with all the explanation of how things work and why. Which was what my problem was with Legendborn. Technically neither of these books were super difficult to read its just that they require so much explanation from the characters on why things are the way they are that I frankly dont care. I just need to know somebody has boomboompow powers..I don’t want to read the explanation of why. I really thought I’d like fantasy so much more than I do which is just a shocking revelation to me. As much as I’d like to get through more Stormlight archives itll have to be months from now to recharge..which is why I usually go with a kids book for a while after.

malamander was free and kinda dark for a kids book and fun. NeverAfter had a cute premise but honestly sucked even if I wasn’t the target audience. Middlegrade doesn’t have to treat kids like they’re stupid to be a kids book. Dont judge me for Ickabog. I was more curious than I was afraid of the internet and again it was free. This book went from extremely goofy to super DARK to ridiculous and wasn’t worth it. 

Before I get to my favorite books I want to mention Queen of Geek. Which I figure’d Id read one day when I had a moment of nothing immediately available. I identify with online nerd culture and so I did identify with the book to an extent. Except this book is a complete written daydream of a nerd who marysue’d herself into a situation she really wishes would happen. Second hand embarrassment and I honestly think insulting to fandoms. Essentially a fan is recognized by a celebrity in the middle of a convention from their nerdy tumblr posts and the celebrity falls in love with them. Followed by a good ol “and then everybody claps” speech. No. I cant. 

Chain of Gold had nothing probably technically wrong with it (other than a tightlacing trope..are you friggen kidding me?) its just that I’m not familiar with this series and I was told it was a mistake to read this one first.

So favorite books. The Inheritance Games, Good Girl Bad Blood and Winterborne Home2. Loved them. Will read the next sequels that come out.

Shadow and Bone, read purely because the tv show is about to come out. I read Six of Crows and Crooked Kingdom when those came out but wasn’t a huge enough fan to read the older books. Well I finally started it. I’ve got Seige and Storm too and I plan to start it when I  paint next..probably.

Kaminari, you wouldn’t think five inches is enough for him to look down and bully you about your height. But...honestly? You couldn’t be mad at it considering it’s what made your friendship with the blonde bloom.

Then again, when you first met him you were kind of a wreck and didn’t have the guts to tell him, “I’m not an arm rest stop leaning on my shoulder.” Instead you let it be, fidgeting fingers and looking ahead until her smiled brightly at you, “SHORT FRIENDS ARE GREAT!” he looked down at you eyes closed, “I should keep you around more.”

Well, after that you were adopted by, THE BAKUSQUAD! Bakugo not really caring, but when Kirishima and Denki followed him around he always made sure to grab you and drag you with them, because “I WAS SCARED AND PANICKED! I DIDN’T WANNA BE ALONE!”

So, for the first and second week he treated you like a quiet kid, mostly starting conversation until you got into a comfortable groove, and he almost died seeing how you really turned out. YOU started to bully him, when he entered his short circuit, the jokes you made, but still, you took care of him making sure he didn’t get into trouble or hurt. At times you’d become a bit impulsive and your chaotic side came out.

“MOVE! IM GONNA DO IT!” You screamed “Y/n! NO! I LIKE YOU BETTER ALIVE!” He screamed. Silence, you moved your head, trying to pull back, but no luck, your eyes moved in panic looking at Denki, his own eyes wide before he started laughing. You tried to move your head regretting it instantly. Your right hand came up, forefinger and thumb pulling at your tongue that was now stuck to the pole you had made victim to your weird antics. “mm thuck.”

you have great goofy moments together, but the moment he hears Bakugo screaming and silence, and then he hears you screaming? Hah, no. All relations are canceled/expired/rejected/blocked/denied/gone. He likes being alive, and right now, you were a threat to his life, so “Oh, uh yeah I got a thing to do in the other ro-“ RUN

he’s more than great full to have you around, your patient with him when he just can’t do something but he’s determined to. Like the month he dragged you of the dorms every night, because “IM GOING TO GET THROUGH THIS HAUNTED HOUSE WITHOUT SCREAMING.” The haunted house opened the first of October, and ended on Halloween, it was terrible, at one point he passed out, another frothed at the mouth, his screams were priceless, he clung to you more than a few times crying about being scared. Decked a few jump scare people, and at least twice went into Pikachu self defense mode and electrocuted the groups of workers around the two of you at least twice. Honestly, you were surprised they let you both keep coming back. But the last day, he managed to only let out squeaks and squeeze your arm and hands but he did it. Thirty one long nights of walking the same halls, jump scares, and voids, mesmerizing the right way of the maze, you mad wit out fine, he was only slightly shook.

Art? Denki doesn’t get it, claimed he can’t draw to save his life and when you watched him try you believed him, BUT THE COMPLETE AND UTTER SHOCK WHEN YOU FOUND OUT HE WAS BASICALLY AN ART MAJOR WHEN HE SHORT CIRCUITED..... you started saving his drawings and sketches, and then you’d show him and he’d be impressed, but completely denies that he ever did it. “Nope, you got the wrong guy, you’ve seen me, I can’t draw a circle.” But he loves to watch you paint, and take photos, but don’t take him to wildlife sets with you. He will get hired of waiting for birds and throw himself on the grass and start sighing loudly and rolling around, “Nothings coming y/n!” “MAYBE IF YOU SHUT UP THE BIRDS WOULDNT FLY AWAY LIKE ITS THE END OF THE WORLD!” Silence, you can definitely feel him staring you, “Well that’s just rude.... you scared off the only bird that was actually here.” Pottery? He watched you, and he wanted to try, the first time he ended up slinging clay everywhere, second he can’t keep his hands still enough, the third time you took pity and ended up like the cheesiest movie scene, but, you were behind him guiding his hands, he became a flustered mess and crushed the almost pot when you spoke to him and he felt your breath on his shoulder. He was blushing and flustered and then started apologizing for ruining the pot... in the end you both together did make a lopsided pot, it now sits in your room, home to your shared black prince succulent. When you brought it home he made anyone who would listen come see his first pot and new child.

“Y/n?” You heard knocking and groaned getting up off your bed to open your door.

“I brought someone else to meet prince...” the look you gave him was one of ‘Are you sERIOUS?’

You closed your door a bit to look at the digital clock that was hanging just above your desk, 1:37 in the morning...

“It couldn’t wait till sun up?” You asked eyes kinda squinty as the hall light started to flood into your room now that you opened the door wider to let whoever in.

“It’s important everyone knows my new son!” He stepped in and you moved and plopped onto your desk chair.

“Alright, but be careful, you bruised one of his petals last time.” You stretched and looked at your abandoned school work, you looked at it reading the question you had struggled on, and by some miracle, being half groggy and half awake, you read it and the answer came to you. You started to write it down before you forgot. And you were so proud of yourself, until you heard the feminine voice.

“Kaminari, you’re an idiot.” And then a slightly muffled laugh.

You didn’t have a problem with Jiro, in fact you liked her as a friend, she was nice, had good taste in music, bullied Denki with you sometimes, friendly and you’ve never seen her angry or get snobbish with anyone. She was laid back and cool.

But, one thing you didn’t like, was the fact she was slowly becoming the center of Denki’s flirting. Jealous? Nahh....well....no.... maybe a little? Nope, nah that’s not it.......okay yeah.

“Y/n Chan! Jiro is bullying me.” He came and shook you by your shoulders pulling you from staring at your school work.

You turned your head to look up at him. “What?” You asked.

“She called me an idiot.” He pouted and closed his eyes.

You laughed and dropped a hand onto his head, after he kneeled to plead you defend him, “Oh Denki, if you want me to disagree it’s gonna be a long night.”

He pouted at your words but sighed in defeat, until the next words came, “So (y/n), if Denki’s son is in your room does that make you the mother of his son?”

You looked at Jiro a faint blush tinting your cheeks as you registered what she said. You gave a few quiet laughs but before you could say anything Denki became a stuttering flustered mess. Catching both of you and pulling you both out of the conversation that almost started.

“Well! (Y/n)! Well go! A Princess does need her beauty sleep!” He winked at you as he left in a hurry, Jiro just quirked a brow before she told you good night and you returned it as she left. You yawned and got back into bed, before your phone buzzed and you cursed, but the blush on your cheeks wirsned at the flirty text you’d gotten from Denki, you’d think you’d gotten used to it already, but maybe the feelings you thought you’d pushed away never really left the surface.

Cringe yes, but that’s literally the best flirting line he has. Apparently getting comfortable with Denki meant he was comfortable flirting with you 24/7, no hesitation. And you enjoyed the attention and flirted back with him, but things kinda changed when Jiro started to give him attention too.

“Mornin’ babe,” you yawned at Denki’s greeting and gave a wave and small smile as you walked to a table and plopped down. You didn’t get much sleep, you finished your homework so now you had the weekend free, but what were you going to do? You stared at the empty table in front of you thinking about nothing, head empty, until Mina came and sat across from you, “So babe huh? Is it official!” She whisper screamed.

“Pfft, just about as official as me being All Might.” You had a small smile, small but genuine. “Boooooooo.” She pouted, “I have my own theories but I really want to tell you this one, soooo! Bakusquad girls day! But... just you and I. Get ready let’s go!”

So, after deciding you’d buy something to eat instead of cooking you got ready and then both you and Mina set off to talk theories and what’s really going on in her head. “So, I think he wants something serious but since you guys joke so much I think he thinks he’s in the friend zone and don’t even deny it I know you like him, I’ve seen the way you smile at all his stupid jokes even I don’t laugh at all of them and I try to be nice. Plus the way you loook a Jiro is enough to show your jealous but he doesn’t see that, I’m pretty sure he thinks you just don’t like her humor or something, but from what I’ve seen your good friends with her when Denki isn’t around so that lets me believe your jealous of his attention going to someone else. Soooo, what do you say? What do you think? And I think he’s trying with Jiro because you guys kinda have similar personalities and hair cuts? Well not really but you know? When your in love you call broccoli Midoriya and a grenade Bakugo but that’s a different story, so? What do you think?” You just stared at her, the takoyaki had with your toothpick just to far from your lips as you wondered if she was right. A shot smile pulled at your lips as you looked down and closed your eyes to let out a sigh, “Well, I won’t say your wrong, I’ve done lot of things but being in denial has never been one of them. I’m not going to confess or anything but I do have one question.” You looked at Mina through the corner of your eyes while your face was still pointed to the ground. “Yes!” She cheered and nodded looking at you with a big smile, “If this is about a plan I’ve got it all figured out so don’t worry!”

You shook your head and faced her completely, “Nope! Keep the plan well use it later but, if I do something about this Denki thing you have to so something about tape boy.” Mina became flustered at your words but nodded, “well, your first lady she smacked you back causing you to slightly choke on the Takoyaki you’d finally started to eat, after catching your breath and wondering around for a bit you both talked it out and it’s go time.

The next morning you started the plan (titled by Mina) “Seducing Pikachu” Taking a deep breath you readied yourself to take your flirting next level, he called you babe you had to call him daddy, he gave you a hug you pulled his face down to peck his cheek, he draped an arm over your shoulders you had snuggle closer and hug his waist, he tried to tease you by taking your hand you can’t pull away, in stead you interlock fingers and squeeze, if he leaned into your ear to whisper something you can’t push him away. And we’re you ready? No, in fact you felt queasy, and like you had to bathroom, but with a shove from Mina you entered the kitchen and like usual “Good morning babe!” And the usual flirty wink, but this time instead of getting flustered or yawing you locked eye contact and with everything you had, “Mornin Daddy.” You smiled at him and walked to the fridge to try and occupy yourself. In the background you heard Mineta screaming about the name daddy. You looked at Denki with the same smile after grabbing a juice and he was flustered, red cheeks and it looked like his hair had fluffed up a bit. It’s working! You waved at him and walked to the common room and sat down on one edge and looked at the tv, it was playing some show about volleyball. Jiro came and sat across from you on the other sofa joining you and a few others in watching this show, right now, the only empty seats are the spot next to you on the love seat, or the two seats beside Jiro. He sat by you and was strangely quiet, oh gave him a smile when he turned to look a you, he smiled and looked at the tv, after an hour or two your hands began fiddling with the juice in your lap and you felt a tug at your hand, you felt Denki place his hand on yours usually you’d pull away and punch his shoulder, but this time. You didn’t take your eyes of the tv when your intertwined your fingers and squeezed his hand. You brought your other hand and squeezed his hand between both of yours and snuggled closer to his side and laid your head against his shoulder, he tensed a bit then relaxed quickly. He laid his head on yours and you eyed Mina real quick, you gave you a thumbs up and you motioned to Sero with your eyes and she stopped and pouted. After another hour you started to get up and pull away from Denki. You felt a hand pull at yours and you looked at Denki, “Where are you going?” You titled your head, “Gonna go buy lunch maybe.” He looked up at you still holding your hand, “Don’t leave me.” He said, “Come with me then.” You gave his arm a tug and without second thought he jumped up outside you were cool, but inside, you were going ballistic, inside you were nothing like usual, you were honestly so surprised that this plan was working, with your attention he didn’t even pay attention to Jiro,,,, were you really jealous?

Getting to a ramen place you both sat down and filled our sheets with your orders, casually sitting in silence your phone dinged, “So.... did he confess? Or do women really have to do all the work, 🙄, Sero didn’t understand what I meant until I- never mind, how’s it going?”

You smiled at the message and shook your head.

Denki being curious why you were smiling tried to peek, “Mina is trying to confess to Sero and she says he’s an idiot.” You smiled and turned to Denki explaining before he could see.

“Yeah, I didn’t wanna say anything sometimes Sero isn’t the smartest.”

You felt a smile pulling at your lips, “Yeah, I know someone else who is just the same.” You propped your elbows on the table and placed your chin on your palms. He did the same and pushed his cheeks so they looked chubby against his palms.

“Kaminari,” you called his name in a chirpy tune with a smile, he closed his eyes and smiled before he said your name in the same way.

“How good are you at noticing small things?” I asked and tilted my head. “Hmmm, did you grow out your hair?” His head tilted, and he smiled.

“No? It’s been this short for a while.” I dropped my arms flat against the table palms up, “try again.”

“Yooouuuu,,,, are wearing contacts?” He asked. “I’m not blind.”

“Yoouuuuu.....are trying a different Boba?” “No... well yes, but not what I’m talking about......try one more time and I’ll give you a hint if you can’t guess.”

He nodded and squinted at me looking like he was concentrating hard.

“I know!” He took my hands in his and squeezed them, I felt my heart start to race, “You’re fingers are cold, the tips are turning reddish.”

I smiled and looked away and licked my top lip trying to not laugh, “That wasn’t it but a good guess.”

“Then what is it?” He asked pouting.

“Close your eyes.” I said and waved a hand, he nodded and then closed them, I placed my finger tips on the left side of his jaw and tried to pull him closer, after getting him halfway across the table I leaned forward and lightly pressed my lips against his cheek.

I pulled away, and moved my hand away from his jaw.

“I...so think you should try again, I didn’t get the hint.” He looked away with a bush slowly becoming prominent on his cheek.

I smiled and shook my head, silence fell over us as I shifted around, “Another hint huh?”

“Maybe just one... or two... or a few....” he still didn’t look at me hands now fiddling together.

“You know, for a flirt you sure do get nervous when someone actually makes a move on you.”

“Heh, yeah.” He was smiling but not looking at me, “Sooo, when?”

“Do you remember the day, you got sick and made me baby you for a whole week? It was that Thursday, you feel asleep on my chest, and I held you and had to pull the blanket off, I realized then, how much I cared about you, and how much I’m willing to do to make sure you’re okay. I realized how much I love your terrible jokes and cheesy pick up lines, your warm hugs and the face times late into the night, and the movie nights passing out at three in the morning and rushing to class when we woke up late. Holing your hand when you were scared, and bullying Bakugo, honestly, I wouldn’t wanna die at the hands of Bakugo with anyone else. I’m not saying I love you or anything, but if this is what falling for someone feels like...I don’t not like it, especially when it’s you.” I looked out the window we sat by and could feel his stare, I looked at him through the corner of my eye.

“I wouldn’t want to be murdered with anyone else.” He held his hand out and I tilted my head to look at him, I took placed my hand on his and he smiled, before he shifted his fingers and closed them around mine. I smiled and closed my fingers squeezing his hand.

“So? Are you going to ask?” He said.

I felt my brows furrow, “Ask?”

“Ask me to be your boyfriend.” His smile widened.

“You’re supposed to ask me!” I scolded and shook our hands.

He tucked his head between his shoulders, “okay okay, fine.... now you’re going to wait because you yelled at me.”

“Y/n!” I turned to look for the person who called my name, “yeah?” I asked and pulled my blanket tighter, the Christmas season was here and I was freezing on the sofa.

“Come look! The snows falling again! And the it’s pretty on the blossoms that are still around.”

“Fine.” I grumbled and stood up, I walked to the second floor windows and looked out. Sero, Denki, Kirishima and Bakugo were all outside, I could hear Katsuki screaming at them while the ran around dropping things on the floor.

They all stopped and moved away as Bakugo screamed at them and took off his gloves, it looked like he was grumbling something until Denki slung an arm I’ve this shoulders, Bakugo brought up his hand causing sparks and Denki to smile nervously before patting his shoulder and moving his arm off.

Mina tapped on the window and they looked at us, we waved when three of the four waved. Denki turned to Bakugo and with a simple blast a chain reaction started and lit up a circle, inside the circle were the words made in very sparse but still pretty blossoms, “will u be mine?” Your phone began to ring and you answered it.

“So, after two months of non official dating, will you be mine?”

You smiled, “Yes, Kaminari, yes.” You swallowed and over the phone you heard cheering and watched to em high five minus Bakugo who was pulling his gloves back on. That night, you spent under the blue keys you two piled high, his head on your chest, and you kissed his head running your fingers through his hair, “I love listening to your heart, it’s pretty, like you.” Your take his face in your hands and kiss his lips or forehead, and eventually would change spots, still cuddling to keep the warmth and love between you while the rest of the world was slipping into sleep or madness.

Debug x Fell Part 1

Debug went into Underfell, he looks around with curiosity.

Behind him, Debug hears "heh, you don't look like you're from around here."

Debug looks behind him to see the person talking, "Maybe and what about it?"

There's no one there. Fell appeared right in front of him while he was looking around. "dunno, what about it." He's leaning close wearing a sharp grin.

Debug took a few steps back, He's ready to protect himself.

"hah! you shoulda seen ya face." Fell chuckles "really though, what are ya doin here? lookin a little soft for this area."

He looks Debug up and down "tryna get another crack in ya skull?"

"just looking around" Debug' voice is glitching, he's looking at Fell.

"s'not the kinda place to be 'just lookin around' buddy." Fell does air quotes. "so ya got a actual reason, or are ya really that much of a numbskull?"

"No, I don't have an actual reason . . ." Debug' voice glitched a bit more, He's avoiding eye contact.

"well you're gonna get killed wanderin around lookin like free exp..." Fell sighs pinching the bridge of his nasal cavity. this guy looks too innocent for his own good " ok... ok, what was it ya wanted to see then? i'll accompany ya with your explorin and when you're good'n satisfied ya can get the fuck out, capiche?"

"I can go now if you don't want me here" Debug doesn't like when people treat him like a defenseless child, he's looking at Fell, Debug has 5 LV.

Fell shuffles his feet awkwardly "nah now i didn't say that." He chuckled

"personally don't mind visitors, just also don't mind visitors not dustin gettin their asses jumped. it happens 'round here, ya know?"

"I know" Debug slightly scratched himself near the crack in his skull.

Fell rubs the back of his head sheepishly "look i feel like we got off on the wrong foot... hows about a do-over?" He holds out his hand to shake.

"the names sans, sans the skeleton. though you probably know a couplea those huh?" He chuckles "most visitors call me red or fell... or that asshole. heh. take your pick."

Debug shook his hand a bit hesitantly "Ralz or to be specific Debug, nice to meet you Fell" He smiled a bit.

Fell grinned "nice to meetcha debug."

Fell looks around. "it still isn't the best idea to be standing around out in the open though. ya hungry by chance debug?"

"Hm . . . A bit . . ."

"i know a safe place ya can kick ya shoes off with good food that'll warm ya soul." Fell winks. "can head there if ya like?"

"Sure" said Debug with a small smile.

"k. let's take a shortcut though." Fell holds out his hand for Debug to take.

He took Fell' hand. The two blip into an an alleyway and Fell stuffs his hands in his pockets.

"k, just follow me and don't talk to no one. s'not like you're the first visitor here but i don't want no trouble." He jerks his head in the direction he wants Debug to follow and leads them out of the alleyway and to the front of Underfell's version of Grillby's, opening the door and stepping inside.

Debug walked behind him, he looked around.

There were only a couple monsters inside. just Lesser Dog and Greater Dog practicing poker at their usual spot and a rabbit monster passed out in a booth.

Fell seemed to relax a little and turned to Debug. "you want a table, booth or bar seat?"

"Booth"

"booth it is" Fell slips into a booth and nudges the standing menu towards Debug. "figure out what ya want before burning man gets over here."

Debug is looking at the menu.

Fell leans on the table and puts his head in his hand, his phalanges clack on the table loudly as he idly taps patterns. It doesn't take long for Grillby to come to their table with a notepad and pen in hand.

"heya hot head, i'll just be ordering my usual and whatever this guy wants." Fell gestures to Debug.

Debug placed his order, nothing special.

"so what's your story?" Fell stops tapping on the table and looks at Debug.

"Hm?"

"who are ya? where'd ya come from? i dunno, life goals? everybody always has somethin' goin' on."

"Hm . . . I come from an art based AU, to be specific from a timeline where the Underground collapsed, I was the only one to survive . . ." Debug' voice gradually became more sad.

Fell looks sympathetic "ouch." He hissed, wincing "that uhh.. that really sucks... sorry for askin'."

Fell gives Debug an appraising look "that uh, makes sense why you're just wanderin' au's."

"Yeah" Debug is looking at him.

"well welcome to underfell." Fell chuckles. "dunno why a cute little guy like you would wanna come here, place is a shithole."

Fell suddenly gets hit in the back of the head with a small poof of flame.

"oof! fuck! i wasn't talkin' 'bout you! ya oversized fuckin' pocket light." Fell mumbles the last half while rubbing the back of his head.

A small blush appeared on his cheekbones, Debug giggled when Fell got hit "Are you okay?"

Fell's face lights up "yeah, yeah, i'm fine."

Debug is smiling slightly.

Fell's tapping on the table again. "so an art au huh? what was that like? everyone go 'round drawin on shit all the time? if- oh eyy thanks."

Grillby served the two's orders up, Fell's usual was apparently a burg and three mustard bottles.

Grillby put a milkshake in front of Debug, signed "on the house" and gave Fell a warning glare before walking off.

"what!?" Fell called after him. He shook his head and turned back to Debug "what were we talking about?"

"My AU" Debug took a sip from the milkshake "It was nice, almost everyone was doing some kind of art, be it music, paintings, animation"

"that sounds it'd be fun." Fell says while dumping an entire bottle of mustard onto his burg, it's disgustingly messy. "was everyone good at everything or didja all have.." Fell paused trying to think of a word "specialties?"

"Specialities, I'm for example good at digital art, sewing and knitting, also cooking"

"so ya all did all the arts huh?" Fell takes a bite of his burg chewing and swallowing quickly. "that's sew cool."

Debug snickered at the pun.

"did ya knit that scarf yourself then?"

"Yeah"

"looks soft, can i feel it?" Fell's got a sly smirk on his face.

"Sure" Debug's looking at him.

Fell makes sure his hand's clear of mustard and reaches out to touch it.

"yep that's just as i suspected. s'made of top quality boyfriend material." Fell winks at Debug.

Debug' cheekbones are covered with a blush, his freckles barely visible because of it, he sips on his milkshake, he doesn't know what to say

Fell snickers "sorry don't mean to needle ya."

Debug giggled.

Fell takes a bite of his burg and squirts mustard directly into his mouth moaning in delight.

"gotta admit the hot head's a asshole sometimes but he sure knows how ta make fuckin mustard and burgs."

Debug is watching him, taking sips from his milkshake and eating his own food.

Fell all but inhaled the rest of his meal. sagging in his seat with satisfaction.

Debug soon finished his food too.

Fell glanced at the bar and back to Debug and leaned in close saying in a lowered voice

"hey ya ever dine and dashed before?" Fell grins "s'the only way i can get 'im to put it on my tab."

"Um . . . No . . . but I could try . . ."

"don't worry i do this all the time, we're friends, it's like our thing." He says shrugging with his eyes closed, the sweat on Fell's forehead however says otherwise.

"s'ok on my count you'd go for the door and i'll cover ya." He gives Debug a mischievous grin. "ya in? or nah? s'fine either way, no pressure."

"I don't know really . . . I don't want you to be in trouble . . . "

"nah i'd be fine. it seems it'd make ya too uncomfortable though." Fell sighs in defeat.

"alright guess we're playin it straight this time." Fell chuckles "can't say i play it straight that often." He says with a wink.

Fell then turns around and shouts at the bartender "yo grillbz! the check!"

Debug is looking at him.

"nevermind just keep the change!" Fell slaps some g on the table and turns to Debug "lets bounce." Fell stands offering a hand outta his seat to Debug.

"i think there's a couple places that'd be interesting to visit round here, ya gotta stick close to me though, not too many'll fuck with ya if i'm around."

"Okay" Debug took his hand.

You are incredibly talented, and I was hoping to bother you for a recommendation. I want to get a tablet/ipad for drawing, and I was hoping to get your opinion and which had worked for you best. Also, do you have an art program you recommend? Sorry if this sounds like an interview - I just want to upgrade to something good. If you know anyone else that would like to weigh in with an opinion, that would be absolutely amazing. Much love to you and yours.

thank you, first of all! 💖 you’re going to get a LOT of opinions on this kind of question, so i would definitely recommend asking around and figuring out what your budget is, because there are soooo many options.

personally, my first tablet was a wacom bamboo create, which was a great starting point for learning digital artwork. not too expensive, but works just as well as anything else. it’s a graphics tablet rather than a monitor, so it doesn’t have a screen, but there’s a lot of inexpensive options for graphics tablets that you can look into. 

if you’re upgrading though, i would definitely recommend a graphics monitor since they mimic the feel of traditional artwork and allow you to draw directly on the screen. i have a gaomon pd1560 (about $360, so very reasonably priced,) and it’s fantastic for my use. it’s not independent, so i have to have it hooked up to my PC to use it, but that’s fine for me since my pc has 4 ports for it. these sorts of graphics tablets, which connect to your computer and display what’s already on your screen, are really common and popular. i love mine because it has 10 programmably hotkeys on the side, so i can just press a button to undo or change my brush or whatever.

the drawbacks of these are that they do have a lot of wires, which makes transportation a pain in the ass. the saturation on my tablet is also kinda weird, but i don’t mind that too much since i check the colors on multiple screens before posting anyway. my friend livio, one of the idw artists, used a wacom cintiq, which are super popular and work great, but they’re really expensive.

i’m not AS familiar with ipads, but i do know that the apple pen is one of the best pens on the market. it has an amazing feel to it and ipads are primarily used with procreate, which is ipad-exclusive. the drawbacks i have with ipads, personally, are the software limitations, price, and size-- i like a big chonky monitor, and ipads are just too small for my taste. but if you like procreate and you like the way apple pens feel, those are definitely a good option! 

the software i use is clip studio paint, and i absolutely adore it. you can buy it on sale for like 25 dollars (one time purchase, NOT a subscription like photoshop), and it’s extremely robust. the assets store has a ton of amazing brushes, and it’s overall just a wonderful piece of software. the downside of it is similar to photoshop (which i use on occasion as well) and that’s the learning curve. but once you dive into tutorials and get some pens you like, it’s a DREAM. i’ve never looked back after buying it.

tldr, it depends on your budget and what you’re familiar with! but don’t overlook non-name brand tablets just because everyone says the cintiq or ipads or whatever are the best. my tablet was less than 400 and is treating me dearly, and i know people who make amazing shit on their phones or with surfaces or literally anything. you don’t have to break the bank to make great stuff! if you like csp/photoshop, i’d recommend some kind of graphics monitor, and if you like procreate, go for an ipad :)
