A pinch Dried Thyme
A pinch Dried Rosemanry
2 pinches of Cumin
A pinch or two of dried garlic
Salt (1 pinch to each vegtable as its added to the pan)

Steps:
Use an oil of your choice and put your pot on low and let it heat up as you prep the vegetables.
Finely dice the white onion and green bell pepper. Leave celery is slices for added texture.

At this point add the lard if desired. And move aside the onions to add in the green bell pepper.
Let the green bell pepper loose its water and begin to loose its form becoming mushy. Add the celery and stir. Add in the bay leaf and rosemary
turn the pan to medium or medium high to brown the vegtables that are in contact at the bottom of the pan.
Deglaze with chicken stock be sure to scrape the bottom of the pan to collect the fond. Completely submerge the vegtables. Add water if necessary. Add the half the juice of the lemon and lemon skin/ rind be sure to grate it with a grater.
Add cumin and garlic powder. Bring the mixture to a rolling simmer or gentle boil.

I’m still decompressing from Othercon (I might do a con report later) so essay-writing brain is off right now but I thought I’d share a little kinfood thing I picked up along the way! Please be warned this is a cocktail I’ve made some very minor tweaks to, so it’s for those of legal drinking age only. I made a picture of the end result, so I’ll make a cut.
Tumblr media
Yeah, it doesn’t look pretty but it tastes good. This is a Bee’s Knees with some added floral notes! If you don’t know how to make a Bee’s Knees, here it is:
-1 pt honey syrup (I mixed in lavender to give it a more floral flavor! To make honey syrup, mix in equal parts of honey and water, but instead of boiling both together, heat up the water to tea temperatures, then add the honey, stir, then steep in the floras while it’s still warm....though I like leaving in the buds as you can see! They absorb the flavor of the honey, lemon, and gin.) -2 pt lemon -3 pt gin
The botanical flavor of the gin, the sweetness of the honey, and the floral flavors of the lavender go together in a way that is...well, divine, in my opinion. ^v^ And lavender is good for easing anxiety! I’d love to try mixing in some elderflower liqueur but it’s hard to get ahold of where I live.

Are there any angelkin that find certain foods to be difficult on their stomach?
I find that most food is hard for my body to process, but red meats and rich/greasy food are worse. I can’t eat very much and I’ve always joked that while I love food, it doesn’t love me back.
On that note, I have a h o r r i b l e sweet tooth 😳🍰🍫🍪🍩

I don't have kinfoods. Does that make me a bad kin? I hate most of what I used to love. I'm autistic and a very picky eater, so most of the stuff I ate in kin canons I can't stand anymore. Is that bad?
The kin food thing is simply a fun game and opportunity to talk about our kintypes and canons! It is not meant as a kinda 'does this make your kintype valid?' testing thing! Only you can decide how valid you're own kintypes are!

Hey, I hope you're doing well. I was wondering if I could ask for vegan recipes that mimic brains or raw meat, specifically for Joseph Oda from The Evil Within. I'm sorry if that's a strange request. It doesn't have to be a complete dish. Any kind of flavor is fine, I just want ideas to work with. I normally do my own research, but this one is really evading me, so I thought I'd ask for help. I checked kinfood already, too. Thanks for your time.
Heya!
I'm so sorry for the wait! I hope this list makes up for it!
Personally, I think, from my own eating adventures, mushrooms (particularly bigger ones with like... slimier consistencies) tend to lean to be most like raw meat, I'm not the most brain knowledgeable, but it tends to in most depictions also be quite slimy? So I made a list of vegan mushroom recipes, so I hope this works!
Portobello Steaks
Biscuits and Mushroom Gravy
Sticky Apricot Mushrooms
Vegan One Pot Creamy Mushroom Pasta
Portobello Mushroom Bruschetta
Mushroom Stroganoff
Mushroom Sautee
Vegan Garlic Butter Mushrooms
Vegan Mushroom Bourguignon
Vegan Mushroom Risotto
There ya go! I hope you enjoy and if not let me know and hopefully I can refill the request again! :) Cheers and happy eating~ <3

Can i kin something for fun? And what would that involve, how would it work ect. Sorry, i feel like i can never find any good information about kin stuff and i know that im not /actually/ something nom human but the idea of kinning something for fun seems cool, sorry if this is insensitive
I think this is probably debated but personally? I think so. I think it would fall into how some people using kinning to cope - so if kinning something for fun makes you feel good, then I personally say go for it.There’s no requirements to how to “act” otherkin. Try some things out. Collect things that have to do with your kin. Eat things that your kin might eat (@kinfood has a bunch of tagged recipes). Add things to your bedroom that make you feel cozy or remind you of your kin.
Also, I think it’s a misconception to say that otherkin don’t know they’re human. Of course we know that physically we’re in a human body, but either for spiritual reasons or coping reasons or past life reasons or any number of other reasons, we don’t feel human.

Things to make you feel more connected to your kin (Fae/Faerie)
Tumblr media
Make some food! Any fruits that you can put honey on are good (I prefer strawberries) for more in depth recipes, @kinfood is very helpful! (Go to their fae or faekin tag).
Try drawing what you remember of your wings! It’s pretty simple, if you have time, draw them in great and extravagant detail, this helps me when I’m bored and reminds me of what life was like. You may end up feeling upset over your lack of visible wings, though.
Meditate!!! Find a quiet place, preferably outside, and just... think! It clears the head and connects you to the nature around you.
Try gardening! And if you can’t do that, get a succelent or cactus and try to make a lil’ space for them to hang out with, this is good for so,done who lives in an apartment or so,where without space to garden in.
(This is kind of just an extra lol) crafts? Making some fae themed home decor could be cute! A dream catcher or customized plant pot could make you feel nice and faerie-y
Reblog if you’d like to add anything! These are just some fun suggestions :)

Thoughts on cringe
Well, it wasn’t what I planned on writing, but I sat down and blacked out while free associating and here’s what popped out. Putting part of this under a cut because it got long. If the opening paragraphs tantalize you, just read on I guess? :,>
I wish I’d been cringe.
I wish I hadn’t spent years trying to hide and ignore a key part of myself, perhaps one of the most key parts of myself, because I thought I was just engaging in wish fulfilment. If I ignored it, improved myself, then my self-esteem wouldn’t be so low and I wouldn’t need to pretend I was a divine being to feel better about myself. I went to therapy and hoped it would go away. I quit otherkin and furry groups because they were “a bad influence” and hoped it would go away. I took medication and hoped it would go away. I started transitioning and I hoped it would go away.
Ten years. It never went away. Ten years to realize that by telling myself I was lying to myself, I’d lied to myself.
Ten years I could have spent learning about me. Ten years I could have spent learning about my faith. Ten years I could have spent growing. Ten years I could have lived more openly and been happy.
I see young otherkin, going to meets and talking openly about their kintypes. I see them bark, growl, hiss, and so on in public. I see them play. I see them do what their kintypes do. I’m jealous. I know I shouldn’t be. I just wish that was ten-years-ago me, being the angel he knows he is.
I grew up in the shadow of an expanding Internet and an expanding world. I saw what happened to people who were too openly weird, too openly nonhuman. You heard horror stories of furries who lost jobs when their hobbies came out. You had to deal with freak-of-the-week shows tearing away the curtains of secrecy in what often amounted to a safe space for people who were different in any way.
I had to constantly explain to furcon onlookers that the CSI episode was not indicative of the realities of a furry convention up until 2012, nine years after it aired. Almost as long as the ten years I spent choking back my awakening as it tried to crawl out of the human skin I was desperately trying to hold together. They approached me because I was the “normal” one. I didn’t wear ears or a tail, and certainly not a fursuit. You wouldn’t have caught me dead at a midnight howl. Furry was the only nonhuman indulgence I allowed myself for a time, before it started forcing me to realize I wasn’t pretending to be nonhuman on the weekends, I was pretending to be human on the weekdays. I could barely even do furry things, because I had to be respectable.
That was an annoyance compared to the people who’d stalk you across everything you did, of course. At least the onlookers had a sort of innocent ignorance. They didn’t know they were talking to someone who, while he didn’t think he was an animal, knew deep down he wasn’t human. The people who’d figure out all the names you used were the ones to be afraid of. It exposed the vulnerable side of you that you could only show with a name true to yourself, more real than the one you were given by someone else when you fell into the world screaming, then stitched the two together in an ugly patchwork for all to see.
I wouldn’t call myself a private person. I wouldn’t be writing this if I was. It’s more there’s just parts of me I couldn’t face. I put too much stock in being the logos-oriented person that society places so much value on. Humans are humans. There are no past lives. Only children pretend to be animals. Only someone with delusions of grandeur would pretend to be some sort of powerful mythical being.
Angels aren’t real. I can’t be one. I can’t. I can’t. It’ll go away and I can move on with my life. I can’t howl at the moon. I can’t talk about the dysphoria. I can’t run around in the woods barefoot. I can’t wear gear, no matter how much better it makes me feel. I can’t groom and preen in public. I can’t be an embarrassment to myself. I can’t be one of those people.
A fun fact! I still feel a deep sense of shame when I catch myself doing species-typical behavior in public despite not trying to actively repress it anymore.
Melodramatic, maybe, but I feel like I’ve damaged some part of myself and now I have to try and repair it. So I’ll wear gear. I’ll have my chew toys (they’re stim toys for human bodies, don’t worry, I’m responsible.) I’ll dump florals and honey into everything that it pairs with taste-wise and call it kinfood (and delicious, because it is.) I’ll make a nest to sleep in, and I’ll wear my kigu when I do, because it has wings and horns, and that’s me. I’ll wear a shawl and when the wind blows through it, I’ll close my eyes, and it’ll be the wind through my wings.
I can’t change what ten-years-ago-me did. I can affect what now-me does. So I’ll be cringe.

hey there bud! im trying to figure out what my theriotype is. i growl at people sometimes, but i cant bark, and sometimes i walk up the stairs on all fours and i can go pretty fast! what else would you suggest? im looking at kinfood alternatives to the real thing and im leaning towards scavenging or meat. thanks!
Well, there's a lot of possibilities here! You can typically tell your general type of animal, as well as things like size! You said scavenging and hunting, and definitely all fours! As a coyote, a scavenger myself, I'd suggest that! But as for noises, my mind goes to a more silent type of canid. Somewhat scavenger, but a very quiet type! You might be a maned wolf! Tall, agile, and are howlers but not barkers!
Tumblr media
You also might want to look into various dogs! Your energy, scavenging drive might come from a type of dog! I'm a hound cameos shifter myself, and there's a few breeds that don't bark! A basenji is an excellent example of such! They're smaller, energetic and have a very soulful, yodel kind of howl! (They're also a very pretty breed of dog!!)
Tumblr media
And then of course there's foxes and such, but I also suggest looking into other types of animals! Felines, while not really scavengers, could be an option! Then there's others like members of the weasel family, bigger cats, squirrels and other rodents! Other than that, just keep your mind open! Feel free to explore, and do tons of research! Some types take years to find, and some are never found.
Either way, I wish you luck!

(hiding on anon from main) If you do open for mod positions then please let us know with a post! If you just need someone to fill the queue with reblogged food posts or go back and mass-reblog vegan tags on other kinfood blogs I may be able to do that!
I definitely will let everybody know! I’ll probably open up applications soon!
