Caninekin food ideas
Mostly a list for myself, but may prove useful for others too. Food that is vegetarian will be marked with "🌿"! Feel free to ask for things to be added, as this will be a big post. Please let me know if there are any niche species that I should consider. This will be an ongoing project :]
Reindeer stew (Renskavsgryte)
Seared rabbit with rosemary
Dog bowl recipe (human safe, of course)
Deer poppers
Crispy orange beef
Strawberry and feta salad 🌿

Jicama, kirby and carrot salad with charred lamb
Caprese bison sirloin steak with bow tie pasta

Vegan Kin Food Ideas
S'up! So, we've been seeing a lot of kin food posts, but the focus is always on meat. Then when vegan or vegetarian options are listed it's like salad + fruit and that's it. We've been vegan for some years now so here's a list of things we eat that we think others might enjoy too!
A piece of advice we found helpful is to think about the food item you miss and break it down into what exactly you miss. If you miss eating gems, is it the appearance? The crunch? Gritty texture or dry taste? In that spirit of that, our list will be largely broken up by texture/experience.
Crunch Crunch Snacks
This includes snacks/sides that get your jaws working or have a satisfying "snap" to them.
Roasted chickpeas
Kale chips
Ants on a log (celery, peanut butter and raisins)
Hummus + baby bell peppers/sugar snap peas/carrots
Granola / cereals (a lot of types are vegan, read the ingredients before purchasing)
Banana chips
Nuts + seeds
Popcorn (avoid "buttery" packages, buy plain or kettle corn)
Peanut butter pretzels (crunchy outside, delicious soft inside)
Smartie candies
Keep your cookies/chocolate bars in the fridge or freezer
Also, load cookies up with extra nuts/seeds/choco chips
Soft, but with some crunch
This section is for dishes/sides that are overall easier on the teeth, but with elements that still crunch or snap. If you're looking for recipes that combine different texture elements check these out.
Lentil nachos + nacho cheese sauce
"Crunchwrap" (quesadilla made with refried beans and homemade cheese sauce that we open and place tortilla chips and lettuce inside after grilling)
Tempeh bacon (we like this on a BLT or grilled cheese sandwich)
Crispy tofu sandwiches
Grilled asparagus
Apple slices with nut butter
Pickles
Apple turnovers
Vegan sushi (there's a ton of recipes, check out these two collections to get started X, X)
Falafel (can be used a hundred different ways, sandwiches, wraps, on it's own, etc.)
Roasted chickpeas again, but with a caveat**: You can roast them at 350 F for 30 mins and they'll be cooked enough to pop between your teeth, but soft in the center. We like to either eat them as-is or top our salads with them. (We season with salt/pepper before going into the oven, nothing else) **Must be eaten after baking, they will not keep
For the foragers in the crowd
These dishes focus more on having either multiple different foods in a visible way or a tactile element to how you eat them.
Chia pudding
Smoothie bowls
Overnight oatmeal
Trail mix
Pumpkin bars (We replace the egg with a flax egg and use vegan butter)
Chocolate chip banana monkey bread
Corn on the cob
Grilled veggie kebabs
Cranberry cilantro quinoa salad
Chili
Bush's beans and rice
Salads topped with sliced fruit, nuts, grains and/or beans
Edamame (a favorite, we love pulling out the insides with our teeth, you can get ones without the pods if they bother you)
Plant-based burgers, the kinds with the chunks of veggies (our favorite is dr. praeger's black bean quinoa burgers)
Chewy Foods
This section is for foods that work your jaw, but more in a "needing to chew" way.
Potato gnocchi
Dried fruit (comes in all different flavors, not just raisins)
Swedish fish, red vines, skittles or sour patch kids
Granola bars (a lot of types are vegan, read the ingredients before purchasing)
Thick bread-y pizza (our favorite dough recipe)
Pancakes
Chewy chocolate chip cookies
Peanut butter cookies
Baked oatmeal
Potato skins
Meat Substitutes
The most obvious way to make a dish vegan is to sub in the appropriate mock meat. We've eaten quite a few and we won't sugar-coat it: a lot of them are either going to match the taste, texture, OR look. It's hard for mock meats to copy meat 1:1, some get way closer than others, but if you go into this expecting no difference you will be disappointed.
Our two favorite brands are Impossible and Gardein. We've tried a lot of their products and have yet to eat one we don't like.
These aren't your only options though!
Beans
Falafel (deep-fried balls of ground chickpea)
Tofu
Tempeh (fermented soybeans)
Seitan (made from wheat gluten)
Jack fruit
You might have guessed based on the recipes shared, but we usually opt for beans. We haven't eaten much seitan or jack fruit, but they are options. At our local grocery stores they're sold in the "free from" section and can be brought pre-seasoned and ready to cook with. Jack fruit in particular is a popular replacement for shredded pork.
The trick with a lot of these is to marinate them. Tofu in particular so you can infuse it with flavor. Here's a few recipes we love:
Lentil and sweet potato loaf ("Neat"loaf)
Marinated tofu
Crispy tofu sandwiches
Tempeh bacon
Chili (our mom's recipe that we modified)
Soft / Squish
For things that are soft or squishy and you can slurp up.
Seaweed salad
miso soup
Pico de Gallo Black Bean Soup
"Nice" cream
Chocolate mousse
Oatmeal
Popsicles
Applesauce
Brownie batter hummus
Chia seed jam
Lavender syrup (to flavor other drinks, we use it in coffee)
Lavender lemonade (final product will be a light brown color)
Mashed potatoes + Gravy
Slow cooker apple cider
Tofu scramble
JUST egg
Non-dairy mac and cheese (our favorite brand is the upton's)
Smoothies (if you're looking for a protein powder to include, we recommend Vega)
**Just a reminder to supplement for B12 if you're consuming a vegan diet. There are some foods that are fortified with it; however, a supplement is cheap, easy to find and all-around a more reliable way to ensure you are getting enough.

A delicious recipe for lovers of light, fluffy, sweet foods!
Tumblr media
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 banana
- a bunch of whipped cream (I didn't measure, maybe a few cups???)
- a teaspoon of honey (add to taste)
I personally like using a fork to mash the banana up before adding the other ingredients, but you don't need to.
Basically all you're doing is mixing the ingredients together. It's a super tasty sweet snack, though! I'm thinking angelkin, deitykin and ghostkin might like it best!

hi !! could i request some grey fox therian foods?
special requests for: texture safe (few mixing texture in one recipe, no liquid and solid mixes [like textures similar to yogurt with strawberry bits or smoothies with seeds]), and limited pallet? as in a bit more bland
i'm nd and just very sensitive to textures and too many different tastes but i want to feel more connected to myself !
You got it!!
Grey Foxes generally eat small mammals, birds, and wild local fruits. Persimmons and Grapes and other wild fruits are a common treat. But their FAVORITE treats are eggs of all kinds. So let me see what I can come up with! I also tried to keep this as texture safe as I can -- most of them don't have competing textures, and those that do can be easily augmented to not have as many!
Crock Pot Rabbit Stew (if the chunks of rabbit are small enough, they'll be as melty and soft as the carrots and potatoes!)
Gamekeeper's Pie (if you find mashed potatoes don't work, roughly chunking the potatoes will get you a similar consistency to the filling~!)
Garlic Chicken with Herbs (I almost always use garlic paste or powder cause I don't like the texture of whole garlic cloves)
Squab with Mushrooms and Pears (I would make these portabello mushrooms instead and do a roasted pear, to keep the textures similar to each other)
Pigeon Pies with Bramble Gravy (skip the cabbage and pancetta, used chunked parsnips and smaller chunked pigeon, to keep a similar flavor profile but more consistent texture)
20 Minute Mushroom Chicken (again, use portabello mushrooms, probably halved or quartered, to keep textures similar)
Pineapple Ginger Chicken Stir-Fry (If you can get or make Pulled or Shredded Chicken for this, it'll come out with perfectly paired textures!! Otherwise much smaller chicken bites will come out as soft as the pineapples)
Soft Boiled and Jammy Eggs! (I prefer Jammy for texture, but soft boiled is good for dipping toast into)
Poached Egg and Cod (Tenderizing the cod in advance with something like this will make it much softer and not clash as much with the poached white. The yolk makes a creamy sauce that helps make the cod a lot creamier, too)
Easy Grape Sorbet
Mulled Grape Cider
Broiled Persimmons with Mascarpone (though any mild, creamy cheese works! Try the persimmons alone first to see what texture will go best!)
Easy Persimmon Jam (very tasty with Peanut Butter~)
Persimmon Muffins
also here's some Wild Berries to try!
Happy nomming, friend! I hope these were safe enough!

church grim recipes with meat for @bitchywitchheart
i think of traditional english or scandinavian foods and i think hearty warm food. you can never go wrong with a good old beef stew in my opinion
good cuts of meat for stewing are full of collagen and are tough if cooked quickly like a steak. long, slow cooking in a stew will break these tough cuts down until they fall apart whereas cooking a lean cut like this will turn it dry and tough and unpleasant to eat. chuck, short rib, brisket, and cross cut shanks are great for stewing. you may also be able to find cuts labeled "stew meat" in the meat section of your local grocery store
old fashioned beef stew
Tumblr media
1/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1 pound beef stewing meat, trimmed and cut into cubes
5 teaspoons olive oil
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 cup red wine (you can omit this if you can't legally buy wine or don't want a mostly full bottle sitting in your house)
3 and 1/2 cups beef broth
2 bay leaves
1 medium onion, peeled and chopped
5 medium carrots, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch rounds
2 large baking potatoes, peeled and cut into 3/4-inch cubes
2 teaspoons salt
combine the flour and black pepper in a bowl. add in the cubed beef, tossing the chunks to coat them evenly in flour. heat 3 tablespoons of olive oil in a large pot. add beef to the pot a few pieces at a time, avoiding overcrowding (basically just avoid having the pieces touch, give them breathing room). cook the beef, turning it over to brown each side, about 5 minutes per batch. add more oil as needed between batches
remove the beef from the pot and add the vinegar and wine. cook over medium heat, scraping the browned beef and flour bits off of the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon. add the beef, broth, and bay leaves. bring this to a boil, then reduce to a slow simmer
cover and cook, skimming off bubbles from the top of the broth on occasion, until the beef is tender (about 1 and 1/2 hours). add the onions and carrots, then cover and simmer for another 10 minutes. add the potatoes and simmer until all of the vegetables are tender, about 30 more minutes. add broth or water if the stew is dry. sea salt and pepper to taste
imo any stew is great with a good loaf of bread. pick your favorite kind, i think its nice with a long baguette or roll thats been slathered with butter. tear off chunks and dip it in between spoonfuls of soup

an experimental recipe i tried for bunny identifying human bodies (not for bunnies in bunny bodies), or any others who identify as herbivore nonhumans really!
okay here goes:
1/2 of a mashed banana, 1/4 cup shredded carrots, 1/3 cup shredded wheat cereal soaked in water until mashable (drained), 1/3 cup rolled oats, and 1 teaspoon of honey
mix them in a bowl, put them on a greased pan one teaspoon at a time. they go in the oven for 25 minutes at 350°f. if you don't eat all of them then refrigerate the leftovers. enjoy!

Another food post!!!
Tumblr media
A much better picture this time :3
This is some very simple mochi with only a few ingredients. (Glass in the background is full of pink lemonade, of which I will share my dad's recipe of)
This mochi will go well with those who want something chewy and sweet! ♡
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
INGREDIENTS:
120g Potato Starch
60g White Sugar
350ml Milk
1 Cap Vanilla Extract/Essence
☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
INSTRUCTIONS:
STEP ONE
Mix potato starch and sugar together in a small bowl
STEP TWO
Get out a pan and put it on the stovetop, turning it on low heat
STEP THREE
Pour milk into pan, then starch mixture
STEP FOUR
Stir constantly with a wooden spatula (or any other type I guess - silicone might work better to prevent mixture sticking to it)
STEP FIVE
Keep stirring until mixture starts to clump together into a sort of dough. You should be able to move it around the pan and it stay in one large clump.
Note: It is fine, if you want to speed things up, to turn the heat onto medium or just below medium (I'm just impatient and I'm sure some of you guys may be too)
STEP SIX
Get out a chopping board and dust potato starch onto it. Transfer mixture onto chopping board with the spatula
STEP SEVEN
Dust top of mixture with potato starch and wait for it to cool down enough to touch. When you can touch it, start kneading it like dough.
Note: If you happen to have gloves in your house (latex or food-safe gloves) these will be incredibly helpful. Also while kneading, make sure to keep the potato starch nearby and rub it on your hands/gloves when the mixture is sticking onto them.
STEP EIGHT
You'll know the dough is ready to be shaped into balls (or whatever shape you want to/can make) when it is squishy and springs back a bit when poked. Now we can shape them. Tear a chunk off the smooth lump of dough and roll it either in your hands or on the chopping board. Once rolled, transfer to a bowl or plate. Continue until dough has all been shaped.
OPTIONAL STEP:
You may want to dust with strawberry powder, cocoa powder or icing sugar (or any other powders you like)
♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡
And there you have it! I found this recipe via Pinterest and here we are. They were sooooo good and I live the feel of the dough heheh
