If HTTYD and Brave had a crossover, would Stoick offer his own son to Merida to wed off and make peace for previous viking men invading their lands?
Fergus wouldn't trust his word at first and the dragons make him more uneasy. "THEY stay in the stables! Aye even the wee black fella! Go on, get him out of our halls."
Toothless growling, at Fergus' lack of hospitality but Hiccup insisted they follow the Kings commands until he warms up to the vikings.
Pfft! Toothless be like "Fine! Be that way, ugly bear-man!"

- From Queen Elinor’s page on the Disney wiki about herself and King Fergus.
Well, yes, because they came to love each other. Living together for 16+ years and raising four children does do a lot to create and sustain a relationship. And it’s not like they were total strangers beforehand - they would have met and spoken with each other. An arranged marriage is not necessarily a loveless one.
Why is it that people out there would belive that Merida is a Spoiled Brat despite what the Movie truly tells us about Her and Her own relationship with her own Mother?
Uh ?
No no the thing is she is at first. It is a dick move and very stupid to have your mother eat a spell without knowing all while herself not knowing what it should do
Plus even if of course she is completely right not to want to get married with someone she doesn't know at only 15 and wants to have more time for fun, history and context wise it is very self centered from her to provoke the other lords, we see it almost makes a civil war because as the princess of the land a lot of symbolism and responsibilities lay on her shoulders, which she ends up understanding at last
Also... it kind of is Fergus' fault. It is Elinor's not to understand her and feel her, sure, the art book does describe her to be stuck in the future while Merida like teenagers is stuck in the present, but Fergus is stuck in the past, only caring about old battles and not truly doing anything about the kingdom and Elinor has to. And the beginning of the movie plus additional promotional featurettes implies he kind of spoils his daughter. I mean of course he is right to think anyone should have weapons if they want to even a lady, he is a fun dad who understands his daughter and he knows when she is bored and prefers fighting for fun rather than teaching her history... but she is the princess and he is the king. By privileging the fun side of parenting he leaves Elinor only the responsible side which gave Merida the idea one parent was great and another annoying for a good while who only wanted fun and was given the impression by her king dad that she was entitled to anything and her queen mom was a boring obstacle, whereas while of course Elinor was wrong to handle the matter like this with her daughter it HAD to happen one way or another for a Queen or a Lady of the House in Middle Age, like the post I reblogged about a medieval lady's responsibility and power say. Both Fergus and Elinor should have been a balance of the 2 side like all parents should be, and the conflict of the movie might have been lighter if so with no need to bond again. Fergus and Merida thought too much about her for her own person which in great lines is great but not when you have power in a near civil war and your image is important, and Elinor thought too much about said power and image rather than Merida as her own person
The point of the movie is the whole family was wrong at first then finally changes for the better in the end
