Hook-billed Kite (Chondrohierax uncinatus), family Accipitridae, order Accipitriformes, Ecuador

This raptor uses its hook shaped beak to remove and feed on terrestrial snails.

HBKs have slightly different shaped bills throughout their range, depending on the species of terrestrial/arboreal snails available (which have shells that are different shapes, and have different depths).

Found in South TX, Mexico, Central and South America.
