26, what would you describe as ooc? For... Lewis, if you need a specific blorbo

in every fandom for every character it's ALWAYS therapyspeak lmao. He Would Not Have The Emotional Intelligence To Say That is basically a universal truth but also i think even for characters who i would describe as relatively self-aware (your alex albons of the world, for instance) - just because you're aware of a feeling doesn't mean that you can articulate it to yourself, much less out loud to anyone else. so more than it even feeling OOC i think it annoys me because i think the way that people try to rationalize/explain away their feelings, or subliminate them into a different thing, or talk around them, is so much more interesting and reveals so much more about their character than saying (even in internal narration) "he felt X"

for lewis specifically: i think that we (collectively, myself included) need to write him bitchier and more insufferable lol. this is something that i get annoyed by for any driver (love and light to anyone who loves grid dad seb but.) but i think it's especially prevalent sometimes w lewis for many reasons, including the live laugh love public persona that he has actively cultivated in recent years lol. and i think: as w any person. putting someone on a pedestal can be as dehumanizing as the opposite! like. the universal human condition is to be so annoying and to bitch during video shoots about how everything is taking so long and and to be kind of toxic about how everyone else on the grid couldn't take the heat during qatar 2023 etc etc. and i think that fics that actively engage w him being whiny and stubborn and petty and a little immature are actually much more compassionate and nuanced and more interesting for it.

(this is also actually the number one thing that will make me back out of brocedes fic is like. if it's too sympathetic to lewis lmao/paints the toxicity in that relationship as purely one-sided. you cannot be like "this place is a freak show i don't respect either of you people" and then make one half of the pairing NOT an annoying freak. u know)

Charles finds it hard to believe sometimes, that he gets to have this. It feels a bit like a daydream; a little too good, a little too perfect.

There's sunlight streaming through the window of Sebastian's bedroom in Switzerland, filling the whole room with a brightness and a warmth. They're in bed; Sebastian leaned back against the headboard with a book in his hands, and Charles next to him, propped up on his elbow, smiling as he watches Seb read.

"You're staring," Seb says, without looking up from his book. It's one about organic farming that Charles is pretty sure Seb has read at least twice before.

"Yes," Charles says, because there's no point denying it.

The corner of Seb's mouth quirks up. "Why?"

Charles smiles, his eyes tracing over the shapes of Seb's face; his nose, the crinkles by his eyes, his mouth. He wonders if Seb knows how much time he's spent staring at him through the years. It's only recently that he's stopped hiding it, stopped looking away quickly whenever Seb looks at him. He remembers their first year together at Ferrari, how in awe he'd been at the man sat across from him during debriefs and team meetings. He never would have thought they'd end up like this.

"Just because," he says, voice soft.

Charles is pretty sure there's a faint blush on Seb's cheeks. He's also pretty sure Seb would deny it if he brought it up.

Seb chuckles, but he still doesn't look away from his book. Charles shifts a little, leans over and grabs the book out of his hands.

"Hey," Seb tries to protest, but Charles has already tossed it to the side and is now crawling onto Seb's lap.

"Hello," Charles says, smiling. He rests his hands on Seb's shoulders, rubbing slightly back and forth.

"I was reading that," Seb says, but the smile on his face makes it obvious that he doesn't actually mind.

"Oh, I know," Charles says. "You are very cute when you're reading."

Seb quirks his eyebrows. "Cute, huh?"

Nodding, Charles raised on of his arms, trails it up the side of Seb's face. "Yes. When you think something is extra interesting you get this wrinkle, right-" he lifts his hand, thumbs at the space between Seb's eyebrows, "-here."

He leans in, replaces his thumb with his lips, leaving a gentle kiss there. Then he moves further up, kissing Seb's forehead, and then further down, on his cheek, and then the tip of his nose.

When he pulls back, Seb's eyes are soft, fond. "What was that for?"

Charles smiles, leans back in one final time and pushes their lips together. "Just because," he mutters into Seb's skin.

55. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

i think max is really fun to write About, from an outsider pov, but i really like writing from logan's pov because it's super easy. i like novelty though so whatever feels the most new and shiny at the moment will usually be the most interesting to me.

56. What’s something about your writing that you pride yourself on?

i think my blocking, esp in smut, is really logistically sound and detailed enough to make sense. i think i'm also really good at describing anything i have a good enough visual impression of. i tend to rely more on photos/videos/life as reference for writing over textual descriptions.

I think it rearranged my brain a little bit.

'In fact, Lance literally has his foot so far up Fernando’s pant leg that Stoffel is surprised he’s not choking on Canadian toes each time he opens his mouth to talk to the engineers.'

shatter my life apart (see me for somebody else) by @vicsy | M | 1.4k An exploration of Lance and Fernando's relationship. This is a stunning fic. This author has just the most beautiful writing style - it's like poetry, and flows in the most stunning way. This is as much a love letter to Lance as it is to Strollonso - I really, really loved this one.

'Fernando Alonso is a perpetual wildcard and Lance builds his attitude around this little image, prepared for some sort of psychological warfare but it never happens.'

nsfw: victor's spoil by venerat | E | 1.9k Following Fernando's first pole for Aston Martin, Lance is invited to his room - a Winner's Room AU. The vibes here are suitably unhinged/rancid/possessive. If I were to recommend a fic to help someone get Strollonso, to understand the essence of who they are together, I would recommend this one. I love everything this author writes.

'Imagining Fernando with them makes Lance want to chew through wire. Again: fucked up, truly and extensively. He’s just really fucked up about Fernando.'

nsfw: I make two grand an hour by @kritischetheologie | E | 3.1k Lance meets Fernando for the first time at a sponsor event. I adored this fic. It is so funny and well-characterised and hot. One thing that I really love about this author is their ability to weave in detail - you could read their fics over and over again, and still pick up something new each and every time. It just makes for the richest, most delicious stories that draw you in every last time.

'(Lance had almost just said fuck it and gone into banking when he graduated two years ago, like he’d always known he probably would eventually, ever since the day he showed up at St. Andrews and realized that the entire world economy ran on fake numbers on a half-dozen computer screens, but the whole point of trust funds was supposed to be not having to be boring. Who the fuck else was going to make art? Humanity needed him to be living dramatically, falling in love with a thousand beautiful men whose lips he could immortalize in poetry.)'

nsfw: green light, red wine (and i don't feel fine) by @vicsy | E | 9k (wip) Fernando is a crime boss caught in a long-standing feud with Lawrence Stroll - things get complicated when he meets Lance. This fic is fantastic. The vibes are unmatched. This author has such a beautiful, almost melodic writing style, which I love. Also. This is fucking hot. 10/10.

'There aren’t many opportunities Fernando deliberately missed in his life. He wouldn’t be on top if he did. Right next to him, clad in a tight white t-shirt, sits an opportunity for a power move, the one Fernando would take all the way.'

nsfw: silver platter by @wewentcarracing | E | 9.7k Lance and Fernando grow closer, much to Esteban's dismay. This is delicious. Full of unhinged and intense moments. Every word of this is perfection; something I particularly appreciate about this author is their ability to build tension - you won't be able to put this story down once you've started it. Perfection.

'Lance laughs, off-guard and delighted. Fernando has this way of deciding what's true in his own mind and then forcing it into reality with brute strength alone. He's decided that Lance will make it to the podium this year, and so he will. It feels so, so good to hear coming from another driver—any driver, really, but the fact that it’s Fernando. Two-time WDC. Veteran. It doesn't feel like he's being toyed with; it feels real.'

nsfw: Not Even Jail by @baldrmoon | E | 9.9k (wip) Lance is a rookie detective with a new partner - they've met before. This is such a fantastic start to what I know is going to be an incredible story. The world-building here is fantastic. A world away from F1, but with so many of the dynamics and relationships mirrored in a totally new setting that feels very organic and true-to-life. It's just very well done, and I am excited to see what the author does next!

This fic came out when I was at my tenderest and hit me right where it hurts... as fucked up as the concept is, the vegas princess cake au is somehow very heterooptimistic to me. An all time favourite.

This fic won me over on the Lewis/Miles front. And afterwards I clicked on the tag wanting more... but alas this is still a rare pair. Anonymous author of dip it low please know that you have written a foundational text.

Easily my favourite grideon fic (although all are amazing). Hot and cozy and joyful... such a comfort read. Honourable mention to a sense of proportion which is also unbearably hot and hilarious.

It’s probably crazy for Daniel to be in the back half of his 30s and still feel like a fucking imposter all the time.

It isn’t until they touch down in Perth that Daniel admits to himself that he’s been living in a state of low-grade panic for the past couple months.

I’ll be in town in a couple weeks, Zach had texts him. Let me take you out for an early birthday.

In the few minutes afterward, when they’re laying side by side, Daniel’s leg draped over his, Daniel’s come dripping out of him—it’s hard to remember why this ended.

Somehow, Max ends up following Daniel back to his motorhome.

“How’d you find this dump?” Daniel asks, running a finger over the chipped edge of the dresser.

Daniel panicked, when it happened.

Afterward, Daniel gives it a good five minutes.

"How will I know if I'm hurting you? Or if you want to stop?" Daniel asks, sliding the slippery satin back and forth across his palm.

Daniel isn’t supposed to be hearing this.

I'd say the main pattern I see is that I really prefer writing Daniel POV lmao. And also that Daniel is often panicking or deflecting, but like...of course he is! I'm pretty happy with the variety here overall though. Sometimes it takes me aaaages to figure out how to start a fic, and I feel like I often just dash off something I'm not happy with and then refuse to think about it any more, so I'm relieved that looking back it usually turns out okay, haha.

the attention to detail is so stunning. the way the scene is set, the inherent power imbalance, lance so eager to please it's almost painful to watch....

"Even when Fernando aims it warmly, it still makes Lance shiver. That’s because Lance, of course, is fucked up. He’s already getting hard between his legs, just because Fernando chose him. Just from being here, from the anticipation of knowing his role. From the uncertainty of sitting there, waiting." im sobbign <3

im still reeling at this concept okay. i havent gotten over it yet i don't think my review is sufficient to describe how good this is but can we talk about this like

"Mouth open and sucking in air, trying his best to keep quiet, Lance feels both compressed and torn apart by the intensity of Fernando’s attention, redirected. He’s being talked about, but not talked to. Praised but not acknowledged. Lifted up high and pushed down hard." such a waaay with words!!!! i am very extremely enamoured.

the push and pull here is perfect: bratty lance (<3) trying to elicit a reaction, nando willing to indulge despite his discipline (he's actually so into it.....it's all a game for him.......uuuueegeghheheu.....) the way tension is built and released is so so masterful and a delight from start to finish :)

nando as an exhibitionist is...something. how he draws lance in to do the most brazen things, how lance is powerless to resist, is such a tantalising prospect. lawrence's obliviousness makes me want to shake my head patronisingly ("Lawrence agreed, feeling grateful he had another driver pairing that were getting along." ??????? ?????) this fic really shines because of all the details (sweater paws?? hand on nape??? the actual db12 feature???) the "canon compliance" makes your concept so true to life and now i can't unsee it.

the thing that stayed with me was the image of nando bent over the car. it still makes me lose my shit to think about.

the voicing is nailed doWN to a tee and i am thriving. there is one very interesting roscoe related comparison in there that i will not be forgetting any time soon. this ticks all the boxes for me - backstory, characterisation, humour, there is even Plot !!

also love the offhand mention of glance.....they could have been together in another universe..... "Everyone was short except for George Russell, who was both tall and fast. Why couldn’t his father have invested in Mercedes instead?"

this author brings so much delight and depth to every single one of the pairings she writes about, and i will not be forgetting about this any time soon.
