Caged Death
After speaking with Clockwork, Danny discovered that the Ghost King's job was not only as the ruler of the Realms or the caretaker of the ghosts, but also as the representative of death.
It turns out that death has taken different personifications over the centuries (and because of the number of dimensions) but they always needed a leader. The Ghost King was meant to be the one to guide them and do most of the work, guiding the humans' souls to a better place and help when needed, which is why he needed so much power in the first place. This was obviously neglected by his predecessor, making the current deaths suspicious.
Although it was hard, Danny began to do his work, he noticed the misinterpretation that people had of death, and how those who were at the end of their lifetime understood it better. When he went to visit one of the dimensions that had recently gone through a war, he was captured.
An old wizard had discovered that he could trap death and prevent it from spreading. He caught the King and demanded that he return the soul of his son, he also demanded him to go away and take no one else with it.
Danny refused, those souls needed to rest, and the other personifications of death could do his work in the other dimensions but since they knew that he would take care of DC dimension problem, he was worried that he had stopped the cycle of life by accident on the dimension.
The Justice League were undecided on how to proceed, wasn't the lack of death good?, but after John Constantine took them to the hospital with all the injured begging to rest in peace they understood, although Batman seemed reluctant to help, Robin's recent death was probably still affecting him.

Here’s a thought-
When Splinter says Leo’s the leader at the end of Season 2…pretty sure he was joking.
After so many high stakes and high emotions, he (a bit cluelessly) makes a joke to add some levity, just to make things a bit easier for he and his sons to digest everything that happened. It was a lot that happened, so it makes sense that Splinter wants to make things that much softer for everyone.
But- making a joke like that, after everything they all just went through…I can definitely see how the events of the movie pave out in response.
For example, by joking about Leo in particular having the responsibility of a leader, that puts him directly in the sight of Raph’s building anxieties. Because after everything, it’s clear that Raph really started taking the hero name seriously to the point that he started undermining his own fun and childhood in the process. So in the eyes of a Raph who is so worried about what could happen if they’re not prepared again, Leo in particular kind of stands almost as a point of danger in that aspect.
And with the joke of Leo “leading” in any capacity ringing out over them, it’s easy to blame Leo and Leo alone whenever he goes and goofs off with Mikey and Donnie. I think as well that the concept of a leader being spoken after the Shredder just pushes more weight on Raph’s shoulders and makes him realize how much goofing off they did before when they should have been better heroes (despite them all just being kids...)
Raph knows his brothers are good, he knows and has pride in them and himself in turn, but it terrifies him to know that they won’t be ready for the next big threat, and Leo directly going against this caution even more than usual just pushes Raph to want to try more.
As for Leo- keep in mind what happened all throughout “Many Unhappy Returns.” Keep in mind what happened all throughout the series in general. In the former, Splinter more than once points out how he would rather have his other sons with him than Leo, especially because they “would take this seriously”…even though Leo was taking it seriously. (Not that Splinter should be expected to read what Leo was doing when Leo wasn’t making his plans clear, but that wording sticks with kids.) Even after Leo’s plan pulled through, Raph’s the one who spoke in trust of Leo, not Splinter.
As for what happens in the series in general…well, we see Leo mess up a lot, apologize a lot, get his brothers out of messes a lot, and even when he does well or is responsible it’s either glossed over or still seen as goofing off (no I will never be over that moment where Leo almost got Gus’s tags and got screwed over out of pure bad luck.)
So imagine hearing a joke like that as Leo, who for a good chunk of especially the start of the series has been a lowkey voice of reason. The idea that Leo being responsible for the team is nothing but a joke…? It’s understandable that it could feel like a blow, that it could push him to want to try less.
Especially after everything they just went through.
They’re heroes. | They’re kids.
Why shouldn’t they care? | Why should they care?

the frenemies of all time
it was so hard to find pictures of them in the same shots 😭 they're in the same scenes all the time but not the same shots- i think it's actually a purposeful choice by the animators to show they're not actually allied, which i think is cool

I’m hoping that we get to meet other Bloodhounds members in Leander’s route, since Kuras mentions Leander’s closest peers are “results of Lowtown’s harsh realities” and are “questionable,” but trust him “with their lives.”
How messed up are his closest peers? Are they better or worse than Leander? Do they know how Leander is like behind the scenes? A part of me thinks maybe not, since Leander wouldn’t want anyone, even his closest friends from the Bloodhounds to have a leg up on him and use it against him for leverage. BUT if they do know, do they instigate and enable him into doing terrible shit or do they just watch their leader commit crimes and not say anything so he can keep his spotless reputation?
I’m starting to think it’s not just Leander that’s messed up, like every single one of those members are messed up in some way. I’ve mentioned in a previous post Kuras states “Leander prefers those like him,” and so the attitude and vibe of the Bloodhounds should also reflects on him as a person.
Anyway, I hope we get to see more members in his route and their relationship with each other and the leader. I want to meet the OG members of the Bloodhounds, and know their opinions and thoughts on Leander.

The Laoshi and The Yiling Laozu
by chiyukimei (@chiyukimei)
M, 7k, Wangxian
Summary: Burial Mounds era Lan Qiren and Wei Wuxian had time travelled. - Lan Qiren narrowed his eyes. “You’ve heard of the Patriarch of Yiling before, boy?” Wei Wuxian watched his former teacher with suspicion, “Laoshi, you’ve been there when the sun was shot?” Lan Qiren nodded. Kay's comments: It's rare to find a Lan Qiren time-travels story that still feels close to his character like here. Though he's still a much nicer uncle than he is in canon, he actually needs some time warming up to Wei Wuxian after accidently time-travelling together with him. It's also extremely cute to see how much Wei Wuxian enjoys running around younger Lan Wangji and playing with him. Excerpt: A few days later, Lan Qiren caught sight of Wei Wuxian running alongside Lan Wangji, trying to make him smile and shouting non-stop: Lan Zhan this, Lan Zhan that. He tried hard to not roll his eyes at that childish behavior. God forbid, this man was twenty years old, and still, had no trouble blending in with the fifteen-year-olds. After Wangji left, he stopped Wei Wuxian. “What are you doing?” Wei Wuxian asked with a surprised face, “What am I doing?” Lan Qiren, “Why are you pestering Wangji?” Wei Wuxian bit his lower lip, “I’m not pestering him. I just want to be friends with him.” Lan Qiren, “Why?” Wei Wuxian happily exclaimed, “Isn’t it obvious? He is an upstanding, righteous, and beautiful person. Who wouldn’t want to make friends with him? If he smiled a bit all the sisters would be running after him.” “…Hmm, maybe that’s a good thing he doesn’t smile. You don’t have to deal with all those ladies Laoshi!” Lan Qiren grumbled, “Shameless!” Wei Wuxian, “Hah! That’s what Lan Zhan says, all the time! I really forgot how strict he was even when he was a teenager.”
pov lan qiren, canon divergence, humor, crack treated seriously, time travel, time travel fix-it, burial mounds settlement days, burial mounds ensemble as family, cloud recesses study arc, wei wuxian is so whipped, sect leader wen qing, developing relationship

Randomly because I’m thinking about it, one thing I think is interesting about the Ancients’ designs is that Golden Cheese, Dark Cacao and Hollyberry all have eye colors that match the colors of their Soul Jam. Meanwhile, White Lily’s don’t reflect her Soul Jam’s color, and she ended up becoming Dark Enchantress
But then we have Pure Vanilla, who has one eye that matches his Soul Jam, and one that doesn’t
I’d argue that this could have a meaning of him being somewhere in the middle, or having to struggle between, but I’m pretty sure nothing like this will end up actually happening with him
But I mean, it’s an interesting detail
Actually you know what, while we’re speaking of Pure Vanilla’s design, he’s weird from the other Ancients in other ways too
Most obviously, his color scheme doesn’t match his Soul Jam whatsoever, unlike the rest of the Ancients. I mean sure, Dark Cacao’s color scheme has a lot of greys, but they’re purple tinted greys, and he does still have purples in his cape. But Pure Vanilla is made up predominantly of yellows with some white and brown, while his Soul Jam is blue
Granted I don’t think that’s an intentional character thing. I think it’s just because they had two Ancients with predominantly yellow color schemes, both of which couldn’t really change too much since that’s what their ingredients typically are, so one of them had to get a different colored gem if they wanted all the Soul Jams to be distinct in color. And you can’t really make blue the predominant color in a vanilla based Cookie, that just wouldn’t make sense. I mean sure, cacao isn’t really purple, but Dark Cacao has the black hair, and his purple leans more on the warm color side, which cacao usually is, so it isn’t as ludicrous a difference
I mean maybe they could have made his Soul Jam a reddish brown or white like Mystic Flour’s, but that’d break with the color schemes of the other Soul Jams, which are all bright, vibrant colors
And then aside from his color scheme, another thing I noticed is that the shape of his Soul Jam doesn’t really feature anywhere else in his design. Everyone else has this to some extent, with Dark Cacao’s diamond shoulder pads and crown, Hollyberry and Golden Cheese’s heart and triangle patterns, and even White Lily in that her dress is like an upside down fleur de lis. Pure Vanilla meanwhile, doesn’t really have the club anywhere
I can’t really give an explanation as to why, other than maybe the club symbol being hard to incorporate, but they were able to put White Lily’s symbol at least somewhere else on her design
Sorry, this pivoted after the first point, but I just wanted to add on more observations I made

it's lowkey hilarious how committed to Zelda these games are while still insisting on keeping Link as the one who is actually playable. the TOTK devs really said "oh you thought BOTW was about Zelda first and Link second? watch this"

I'm fascinated by the fact that the Burrow's End fam are cultists
like they walked into stoat bastion and immediately clocked the leaders as Evil and Fascist based solely on (*checks notes*) the fact that they were the authority figures. and they dedicated themselves to overthrowing the First Stoats, and murdered them, and immediately set about claiming authority over the bastion using their skills as literal cult leaders
it's haha funny but also remember how Thorn and Viola literally run a cult?? it's not a mercenary group or a small princedom it's a cult. it's called that in and out of character. Thorn is a charismatic cult leader with mystical powers. they murdered the First Stoats and Viola immediately put the pope hat on and it was haha funny but also she did it because she wants the bastion to be their new cult
it's buckwild
Tula said this episode to Bennet 'anyone who strives for power is suspicious' and her sister was RIGHT there. Tula actively assisted in Viola's desire to infiltrate Population Support to turn it into Population Control. it's haha funny but you did that in character. oh are the First Stoats keeping information secret and trying to nudge their population into war with the humans?? what was Thorn doing. what is Ava doing, actually. once you put that stoat pope hat on what are you going to do that's different from what stoat pope did??
there's a world in which Aabria leaned more into the family's own fascism, pitting the reality of their actions and mentality up against the First Stoats. it feels like she wanted to but didn't because she wanted to preserve the cooperative vibe of the season but I am absolutely on her side in this adventuring party: at the first sign of opposition the family jumps to lethal solutions and bids for power. Lila and Jaysohn are children and their instinct was to establish themselves as supreme powers within their age group. again, haha funny, kids being kids, but their favorite auntie and uncle are cult leaders. Thorn's talked about giving them places of power in his cult. I can't get over it
like I can't get over this lmao!! the players kept trying to contradict Aabria and say no no, the First Stoats are evil, clearly we had to kill them—and yes, this is how the game works, and the crew made all these complicated battlemaps so yes you did have to use them. but you didn't have to be cultists!! you didn't have to be so clearly trying to take the First Stoats' places for yourselves! like Aabria said you could have talked!! so many times!!

“You’ll regret this.”
Two guards dragged Leader into a small study. Soft rain hit the window, streaking down in droplets.
Behind the desk, Whumper sat with an air of success, leather boots on his desk. He folded his hands and allowed himself a small, satisfied smile. "Ah, he's come to join his companion."
Leader snarled and lunged against the guards. His lip was broken and his nose was bleeding. "Where are they? What have you done with them?" His words were thick with crimson.
Whumper raised a hand--rings flashing in the lamplight-- and one guard hit Leader with the butt of their gun.
Leader winced but remained standing.
They kicked him in the back of his knees and forced him to the ground. Leader held his head as high as he could, blood trickling down his chin and dripping to the floor, refusing to break eye contact with Whumper.
Whumper yanked his boots off his desk and stood. He walked around his desk, slowly, leisurely, like he had all the time in the world.
"You want to try that again?" Whumper drawled, his accent faintly Southern.
Leader tilted his head back and spat a mouthful of blood in Whumper's face. "Where is Whumpee?"
Whumper pulled a handkerchief out of his jacket pocket and wiped away the blood carefully, dabbing at his mustache. He folded the cloth back up and placed it on the desk. Then he slapped Leader across the mouth.
The rings dug deep.
Leader saw bright pinpricks of light and reeled. The next thing he knew, Whumper had grabbed him by his jaw and pulled him close. With a soft rasp, Whumper said, "You're the one at my mercy, boy. Ask politely or keep your mouth shut."
Leader suppressed the urge to bite Whumper's nose. He took a shuddering breath, forcing some resemblance of calm he certainly didn't feel. With a twitch and barely hidden sarcasm, he spat the words out. "Pretty please with a cherry on top, will you tell me where Whumpee is?"
Whumper let go of Leader. He smiled down at him, ignoring Leader's sarcasm. "I'm not a cruel man. I won't just tell you where Whumpee is, I'll show you."
Leader's expression twisted-- not a single emotion disguised but plain to see. Fear. Panic. Worry. Hatred.
Whumper nodded to the guards and they hauled Leader to his feet. Half-dragging him, they followed Whumper down a flight of stairs. And then down another. Whumper unlocked a gated entrance with two flickering lamps beside it.
Leader paled. No. Surely Whumpee wasn't down here-- Surely--
But Whumper, seeing how Leader froze, took hold of the front of his already-torn shirt and hauled him towards the bars of a cell. Whumper pushed him up against it, forcing him to look inside.
"They're even alive," said Whumper. "At least, they were, last time I checked."
Leader's heart jumped from his chest to his throat and stayed there. He thought he just might throw it up.
There was a shape in the back of the small, disgusting cell.
"Whumpee?" he whispered.
Please no.
The shape stirred and two points of light peered up at him.
Oh.
Oh god.
"Whumpee!" Leader gasped.
They had a thin blanket over their shoulders and clutched it close, their arms red with welts. On their right hand, they were missing their index and middle finger.
They stared, from Leader to Whumper, then shrank back against the wall, breaths ragged. They were already pleading softly, "Sorry, I'm s-sorry, I told you everything I-- I told you everything."
Whumper stood uncomfortably close to Leader. Leaning close, he whispered, "Your Whumpee betrayed you for the price of their three remaining fingers. But turns out, I didn't even have to find you. You came to me. Loyalty like yours is remarkable, boy."
Leader never took his eyes off Whumpee and tried to smile at them, "Hey, hey, it's me. It's okay. You'll...It'll be okay." To Whumper, he spat a curse. Then, slowly, with precision, "You'll regret this. I want you to know that."
Whumper only shrugged. "Maybe, maybe not. You're in no position to make threats." He slapped Leader again, lightly. He waved for his guards to take Leader away. "Put him in the one next to Whumpee's."
They dragged the cursing Leader into the cell. The last thing he heard was Whumper's scratchy voice. "I want him to hear Whumpee's screams and know there ain't a thing he can do to help."
