I don't know if you can answer this, but you're the best person I can think to ask. Normally in Fallen Order cutscenes, whatever poncho you have Cal wearing is the one you see. But in the Vault vision where Inquisitor Cal comes face to face with regular Cal, regular Cal just wears his scrapper outfit without a poncho regardless of what he was wearing when you triggered the vision. Do you know if this was some sort of behind the scenes technical limitation, or something else?

So I usually play/film Fallen Order with just the scrapper outfit which means I never noticed this - but you're right! "Mirror Cal" at the end of the Bogano Vault vision always wears the default scrapper vest with no jacket, regardless of what outfit you give Cal in the actual game. (cutscene for reference)

I checked using my camera/pose editor mod, and Inquisitor Cal is labeled with the "hero" (player) tag through the cutscene until the mirror breaks. Mirror Cal doesn't have any tag at all. Maybe the customization system is tied to player Cal , and adding that system to a different character instance for a 20 second cinematic just wasn't worth the time?

The default Scrapper outfit is also the assigned/canon outfit for Good Guy Cal, so for the mirror scene, it would be best contrast to Inquisitor Cal. Though at the beginning of the vision, the "I will teach you the ways of the Force" Cal does wear the player customization sooooo who knows?

It's been almost one year now since Vollema's demo released, and the full game is launching tomorrow! I saved a lot of footage from throughout development, and I'm glad I did. It's neat to look back on how it's changed from start to finish.

If you like weird story-driven rpg-type games, this one might be for you.

Young young Jeremy walking into the church fundraiser luncheon and flicking Jeremy away so he wanders off to walk around, making sure he’s out of any adults' way and within sight of his parents.

He should talk to the other kids maybe but he really doesn’t feel like it. His parents are smiling and laughing and mingling and it’s so weird, because less than ten minutes ago, their faces were twisted with disappointed expressions at him, warning him not to embarrass them. He doesn’t remember the last time they smiled at him so openly.

Jeremy shakes himself when his mom turns her head his way and pivots to where he knows the children are - his heart drops; there’s a kid standing right in his way. He didn’t know he was there, hadn’t heard him come up, or maybe he was too distracted.

The kid is about his height, wavy black hair an unruly mess on his head. He’s looking at Jeremy with pale, wide eyes.

“Do you like fruits?” the kid says, in heavily accented English. He sounds European, but kind of looks like he could be Jeremy’s neighbour.

It takes a moment for Jeremy to process what he says, and a moment longer for him to respond. “Oh. Sure.”

“Strawberry?” Jeremy grimaces, which the other kid correctly means no. He opens his mouth to say something else but his face pinches with concentration, like he’s looking for the word.

The kid tilts his head and says something Jeremy doesn’t recognize. Instead of repeating himself, he slashes his arm in the air and gestures for Jeremy to follow him. He turns without waiting, so Jeremy skips to follow him.

The kid brings him to a snack table and grabs a basket off it. He points to a fruit and looks at Jeremy. “What is this in English?”

“Oh - it’s a peach.”

“A peach?” the kid repeats. He puts a lot of emphasis on the P somehow, but it mostly sounds right to Jeremy.

Jeremy smiles. “Yeah, peach.”

“Do you like a peach?”

Jeremy’s smile widens, charmed by this kindness. Softly, he says, “Yeah, I like peaches.”

“Peaches.” The kid makes a displeased expression, then says something else in his language. “C’est laid.”

He takes the peach from the basket and gives it to Jeremy. When he’s put the basket back, he takes the peach and walks further up to grab a plate and a knife. He cuts up the peach and fans his hand when he’s done. “Eat,” he tells Jeremy. He hands a slice to Jeremy and takes one for himself.

“Thank you,” Jeremy says, feeling light, bright and sunny. The kid nods as he takes a bite of his fruit and Jeremy follows suit. “What’s your name?”

“Jean.”

“Jean?”

Jean shakes his head and says it again, then again when he’s not satisfied with Jeremy’s pronunciation. “I’ll practice,” Jeremy promises, and Jean only nods then points at him.

“My name is Jeremy.”

“Jeremy,” Jean confirms, but he says it with his accent. His name sounds new, nothing like the harsh syllables his parents or siblings call him with.

“Jeremy.” Jeremy tries it like him, and Jean shakes his head again. Jeremy laughs and says, “I’ll practice that too.” Jean gives him a strange look then hands him another slice of peach. He stays with Jeremy until they’re done and cuts up another one.

“Yeah, I like peaches,” Jean confesses.

Jeremy says, “Me too.”

Blog Post 3: Final Steps and Reflections

Title: From Blender to Reality: Preparing for 3D Printing

In the final processes of design, I finished with modeling and texturing and then proceed to 3D printing. This involved for example making sure that the model gets the best preparations for exporting on an STL file.

Preparing for 3D Printing: The first effort was to inspect the model for embedded geometry or areas that are too thin and likely to fail during printing. I used the add-on called 3D Print Toolbox in Blender to evaluate the shape of the model and make some changes.

Once the model was validated, I exported it an STL file format this is common in 3D printing .

Challenges and Insights: One good point with this design was that it was uncomplicated, but there were problems with this as well. It did guarantee an easy print but there was always a challenge in how the playfulness of the design would meet functional needs.

Future Plans: In my next update, I intend to add more details in creases and play with the texture of the print. Thanks to this project, there are numerous opportunities for improving the everyday object through artistic intervention.

Conclusion: This assignment was a great opportunity to explore the sphere of three-dimensional printing. I also found out how it’s like to create an object, from the conceptual stage all the way to converting an STL file. Can’t wait till the chick comes out in print!
