Challenges and Opportunities in Scaling Adaptive Learning Technologies Globally

Adaptive learning technologies are revolutionizing education and workforce training, offering a personalized approach to learning that adapts to individual needs. By leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, these technologies promise to transform how we acquire knowledge, improve skills, and address learning gaps. However, scaling these solutions on a global scale presents both significant challenges and exciting opportunities.
The Promise of Adaptive Learning Technologies
Adaptive learning technologies create tailored learning experiences by analyzing individual performance, behavior, and preferences. These solutions are invaluable for personalized education, corporate training, and professional development, as they enable learners to progress at their own pace and focus on areas requiring improvement.
Globally, these technologies have the potential to:
Bridge education gaps in underserved regions.
Enhance workforce capabilities in a rapidly changing job market.
Offer scalable, data-driven insights for better learning outcomes.
However, scaling these benefits globally requires addressing various barriers while seizing emerging opportunities.
Challenges

Infrastructure Disparities: Access to reliable internet and digital devices is essential for implementing adaptive learning technologies. In low-income and remote regions, inadequate infrastructure remains a critical barrier. Without consistent connectivity, learners cannot fully benefit from these tools, perpetuating inequalities in education and training.
High Development and Deployment Costs: Developing and maintaining these learning technologies requires significant investment in AI, data analytics, and software engineering. For organizations and governments in emerging economies, these costs may be prohibitive, limiting adoption.

Columbo and the Knight (1984)
put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.
Autism W!
#columbo#knight rider#art#michael knight#kitt#comic#highlight reel#crossover#telebeast#there are two small easter eggs here. can you find them. they were somehow not Entirely lost when i resized these for the public#this is what i mean when i say I Draw And It's Everyone Else's Problem. look at my INCREDIBLY niche crossover comic boy#if the knight rider fandom has like 12 people in it. how many of y'all have seen columbo#this comic is for like 4 people and me and phoenix are already two of them#niche is my specialty lets be real. weird niche obscure shit and ships nobody's paid attention to yet#not to suggest this is ship art. columbo has his wife and michael has his car lmfao#stylizing real people is EXTREMELY hard btw sorry for when they get off model. its partly a 'better imperfect than never finished' situatio#cant tell you how much i redrew some of these panels. weeps#this took me 2 weeks but i think i thumbnailed it all in may and the ideas been rollin around in my head since march#is anybody good at editing. please edit michael and columbo into an image together like its a screenshot. NOT generated. edited.#it would be so cool#ive drawn columbo a lot but i haven't drawn a lot of michaels. i was learning things about his outfit AS I WAS DOING THE DAMN#COLORS ON THIS. all the lines done. it was too late to change anything. i did all the lines and colored page by page#i realized my mistakes on like page 3. 1 and 2 were already done. it was Too Late.#imagine it though. them working a case together. switching between the more serious tone of columbo vs the goofier#action antics of michael and kitt. columbo being so impressed by Modern Technology. there's more i could say but phoenix may write#more of this crossover and i don't want to spoil it :'3#there's opportunity here though i swear. there's gold to be dug.#i like how kitt gets shading but columbo's junker peugeot doesn't. kitt looked wrong without any. columbo's car is matte and dirty#i also applied effects to this to make it look a little film-grainy and VHS like. some CRT TV vibes#the only question left is. did they put knight rider into columbo; or columbo into knight rider 🤔

Still laughing at Brian May offhandedly writing the greatest understatement in the history of academia in his astrophysics doctoral dissertation:

Ah, yes - “various pressures.” Like being one of the greatest guitarists ever and playing/writing/singing for the most legendary rock band of all time.
Those various pressures.

Star Wars Republic Commando Intro Remake by Oleksandr Maziura
I've just come across this recently. This looks SO cool & incredibly detailed. If ANY OG Lucasarts Star Wars game deserves a remake, it's this gem of a video game, Star Wars Republic Commando (2005). Thank you so much Oleksandr Maziura for this Republic Commando Intro Remake.
In addition: Taun We's hand gesture was a really nice touch (showing her care & empathy towards Baby Boss). Also, after encountering that A-DSD Advanced Dwarf Spider Droid in the Training Simulator, I remember when playing the game I'd IMMEDIATELY toss a good ol' Detonator towards 'em, target 'em & then order ALL Squad Members to concentrate fire on THAT Target.
Back in the day I used to ❤️ using the Engage Target Command and see my Squad just unload their array of Blaster, Sniper & Anti-Armor rounds (in addition to their Thermal & EC (Electro-Static Charge) Detonators) while my Target's health just slowly drained away. Nothing beats Concentrated Firepower!

Okay but does Peri KNOW that Dev has a robotic leg when he shows up? Something about the fact that Peri's wand is a cane and the fact that Dev could have kept his leg and just had a cane for the rest of his life instead tickles my brain.
I mean he doesn't know immediately, he wasn't like briefed or anything, but he basically lives in Dev's house so he definitely finds out. Peri doesn't comment on or react to it all though really, there's no reason for him to think anything of it, plenty of people have missing limbs, a lot of people are born without them, it doesn't necessarily mean anything sinister happened. He had no reason to pry or ask and I think Peri's lack of reaction to it helped Dev feel a bit more comfortable in his skin. (Not by much but.. a little bit.)

Double traumatization whammy!#If he stopped even for a second to ask Dev what he wanted he'd have learned that this was absolutely not it!#Half the reason Dev is so secretive is because he thinks being visibly disabled is showing weakness and is some terrible thing#You need accommodations right now man!!! Tell people what you need!!#Dale doesn't actually care all that much about people knowing about the prosthetic leg as long as Dev is quiet about the cause#and doesn't make him look bad#tbh he's kinda proud of the prosthetic leg. Im sure half the reason he was so eager to push it onto his son was because his own company mad#it and wanted to try it out#I have so many thoughts this is getting so long

For the purposes of this poll, research is defined as reading multiple non-opinion articles from different credible sources, a class on the matter, etc.– do not include reading social media or pure opinion pieces.
Fun topics to research:
Can AI images be copyrighted in your country? If yes, what criteria does it need to meet?
Which companies are using AI in your country? In what kinds of projects? How big are the companies?
What is considered fair use of copyrighted images in your country? What is considered a transformative work? (Important for fandom blogs!)
What legislation is being proposed to ‘combat AI’ in your country? Who does it benefit? How does it affect non-AI art, if at all?
How much data do generators store? Divide by the number of images in the data set. How much information is each image, proportionally? How many pixels is that?
What ways are there to remove yourself from AI datasets if you want to opt out? Which of these are effective (ie, are there workarounds in AI communities to circumvent dataset poisoning, are the test sample sizes realistic, which generators allow opting out or respect the no-ai tag, etc)
