Theory about Chris and Wesker (RE9)
Tumblr media
Hey Tumblr, today I brought you two crazy theories. I promise you that my theories will be very interesting and will make you think about something.
Alive Wesker, BOW Chris
Tumblr media
I kept them inside my head for a long time, but coming of RE9 pushes me to release these theories outside. I really love Chriskers, so these two theories are directly related to them. This is not AU, but my assumptions about the canon. I would like to warn you that English is not my native language, so there may be errors in the text, excuse me for that.
Theory about Chris
What could be his immediate future?
Knowing that the year is 2037 in Shadows of Rose and Chris is still alive, we can say that his future after RE8 (2021) will definitely not take his life. Chris will definitely be alive until 2037. At the very end of RE8, Chris discovers BOW from BSAA and decides to go to them to sort everything out. This is probably what will become the main idea for RE9.
But what kind of bioweapon is this? Let's take a closer look.
Tumblr media
I can assume that this is not a single instance, and that all the other BSAA soldiers who are involved in the same "village operation" look identical to this instance. That is, they are clones. Cloning a bioweapon, instead of making a new one every time, is very logical, especially since you don't need to look for the right person for a particular virus every time.
Also, these clones have consciousness and "upbringing" close to a person, or even identical to a person. After all, they use weapons, and judging by the calm facial expression on the concept, they also do not show aggression. They can control the equipment, act smoothly and coordinated as a team. This is not a mindless herd of armed majini like in RE5 or j'avo like in RE6. Their brains should be very developed and almost untouched by mutations. And now let's remember in which project this has always been the main goal? Tyrant.
I touched on the topic that these BOW soldiers are clones of one person. But who is he? Some person with genes suitable for the virus should be taken as a basis. Remember Sergei Vladimir, who was used to create Tyrants. Who can be the donor in this case? I have an answer to this question.
Tumblr media
This is Chris Redfield. At first, the similarities are barely obvious, but take a closer look at the facial features. The shape of the nose, lips, wrinkles around the eyes, a mole under the eye.
And now look at the gait. This pose is identical to the typical walking of any Tyrant.
Tumblr media
The BSAA, unbeknownst to him, used his DNA to create these BOW soldiers.  We can say that this BOW weapon is the most advanced version of the Tyrant, because it is indistinguishable from a human, has high intelligence and is well controlled. And it is also easily disposed of, because after the death of BOW, the soldier did not mutate into a Super Tyrant.
Tumblr media
It may not be a Tyrant, but some new project. But the data on the Tyrant clearly formed its basis.
There are legitimate questions - why Chris and who thought of it?
Answer to 1 question: Chris is a soldier with high experience and survival in the most dangerous situations. He is psychologically prepared for everything. If, by a lucky coincidence, such a person is genetically suitable for the role of a new version of the Tyrant, then this can be used.
Answer to question 2: In order to guess before that, you need to know Chris well. Who is Chris "one of my best men" for? For whom is Chris the only equal rival? For whom does Chris mean so much that this person would want to subdue him?
I think you've already guessed. Albert Wesker.
But you will ask a logical question, "how could Wesker pull it off if he died?"
I will answer directly - he did not die. If you are wondering how he survived, then read my theory about it below.
After Wesker survived, he decided to poison Chris's life, because his own life was wiped off the face of the earth in a volcano. All Wesker's plans are destroyed by this man, as many times before, he is humiliated and revenge is boiling in him.
He penetrated into the heart of BSAA, to those whom Chris trusted. To Chris's "house". And he poisoned this house with a bioweapon. Quite possibly there was some other reason for this, perhaps he had a new plan and "poisoning Chris's life" is only a pleasant addition to this plan, and not the main goal.
Here is a variant of the main goal: The new Mold was created by the organization The Connections who collaborated with H.C.F still in 2000. H.C.F. was led by Wesker. It is not known whether he took part in the creation of Mold, but it can be assumed that he was aware of it. This could be the reason to send BSAA BOW soldiers to the Village in RE8 to destroy everything The Connections had a hand in. Maybe Wesker would just like to get rid of something "useless" that could get in his way in the future.
But why "useless" you ask? Wesker's children in "Project W" were raised in accordance with the ideals of Oswell E. Spencer. And here's what Spencer himself thought about Mold:
Tumblr media
There is no denying the possibility that Wesker could have been thinking for a long time about turning Chris into something or doing something based on him. He likes to "evaluate" Chris during their encounters. What if he was evaluating Chris to weigh the pros and cons if he suddenly decided to create a BOW based on him? It's also possible Wesker always spared Chris because he thought he would use him in the future.
I can only decipher these Wesker facial expressions as "hmm, not bad"
Tumblr media
I assume that in RE9 Chris will meet Wesker. But not the way he remembers him.
Tumblr media
Theory about Wesker 1
To begin with, he's not dead. I won't go into details about what he did after he survived, but I'll just explain to you why Wesker didn't die in a volcano in RE5. These will be the real facts.
1. His death was not shown. All we can see are missiles that fly past his head without hitting the target. They fall into the lava behind him. If you slow down the video, it is noticeable that for some reason the model of Wesker's head simply disappears, and the missiles fly through. This is not done to show that he lost his head, because otherwise the rockets would have exploded in the area of his face. But no, the missiles flew behind him.
Tumblr media
And now pay attention to how Alex Wesker's death was shown:
Tumblr media
Her death can be seen in great detail. And the reason why we were not allowed to see her brother's death in the same detail is clearly NOT that there were not enough graphics capabilities or budget in RE5. There are a lot of great fight scenes in RE5, images of mutations, Capcom could easily depict Wesker's death in the same detail, especially since this is their cult character. But for some reason they didn't.
 2. The fact that Wesker was flooded with lava after the explosion of rockets does not mean that he died. He stands quietly up to his waist in lava and does not even burn. This again can be push it off to the graphic capabilities of RE5, the game is 2009, but this game perfectly shows how the enemies burn. Wesker really doesn't care that he is in lava.
Let's pay attention to the fact that he has already been attacked by fire. It certainly doesn't compare to lava, but it gives us some idea that Wesker has resist to fire.
Tumblr media
Judging by this moment, it is still possible to burn him, but he still doesn't care. He stands there while everything explodes around him, and he is engulfed in fire.
Tumblr media
3. Wesker does not die if the "core" of Uroboros is destroyed. Core is a weak spot not only in Uroboros, and when we destroy it, the infected organism dies along with the virus inside. In RE5, there are as many as two ways to defeat Wesker – attack his core with a knife, or destroy his core with a firearm. No matter which way we choose, defeating Wesker looks the same, but he does not die from the loss of the core. He continues to stand in the lava, still using the abilities of Uroboros. Although logically, in this case, Uroboros should destroyed from lava, it afraid of high temperatures. But it's fine, and with Wesker too.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
   4. Even after two injections of PG67A/W, Wesker did not lose his main strength. This item flows from the previous one. Wesker did not die during the destruction of the Uroboros core, and also did not burn in lava, which means that his body did not lose (or did not have time to lose) the properties obtained with the help of his powers. The fact that Uroboros was also not destroyed by fire suggests that this virus merged with the Prototype virus inside his body, as a result of which he gained resist to fire.
 5. There is a hint that he survived. I think few people have heard about Umbrella Corps. This failed shooter, seemingly having nothing important for the Resident Evil universe, gave us quite important information. Now I will tell you about it in detail. But keep in mind that this game is canon.
The actions of this game take place first in 2012-2013 (single-player mode), and then in 2016 (multiplayer mode). That is, AFTER the events of RE6.
In 2012-2013, according to the plot, information appears about a certain "man from the high ranks in the organization", who arrived to observe the experiment. In the course of the plot, notes about this person are supplemented with information that "this mysterious boss" was present during the events of RE4 and survived them. And as we know, only two men survived RE4 – Leon and Wesker.
After that, one of the acting characters becomes very interested in "this mysterious man", because "this mysterious man" seems trying to make a show of his own strength. This person finds it suspicious and wants to find DNA data about this "mysterious boss". He even wonders, "Who is this guy? Why is everyone afraid of him?".
I think after that it becomes obvious about "what a terrifying and mysterious person" we are talking about. About Wesker.
While playing in multiplayer mode, there is a chance to catch Wesker's phrase at the end of the match. They are different and there are quite a lot of them.
Here is an example:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe7LEaA7em8
At the end of the game, it says that there are "plans" for the main character of this game. By the way, the main character is voiced by D. S. Douglas, same with Wesker. Wesker watched the experiment on his clone? Sounds interesting, unless, of course, he is a clone himself.
6. If Wesker had died, he would have seriously mutated. Think of all the characters who have ever injected viruses into their bodies. After death or when seriously injured, these characters mutated uncontrollably. The same thing happened with Alex Wesker, she mutated when she "died" after being shot in the head. If Wesker had died in a volcano, some kind of creature would have escaped from the volcano. Do you remember how Nemesis was dissolved in acid in RE2, and then he became a huge monster? Lava may be as good a medium for mutations for Wesker as acid is for Nemesis. If Wesker didn't mutate, this is another confirmation that he didn't die.
There is a theory that Wesker did not become a huge monster due to the fact that his body adapts to any viruses. But here I can argue… I believe that once he dies, the virus destabilizes in his body.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Theory about Wesker 2
Now it's time for real madness. In RE5 in vulcano, we killed a Wesker clone. In general, throughout the game in RE5, we fought with his clone. We could meet the real Wesker only in the DLC "Lost in Nightmares". And now I will explain why.
The events of "Lost in Nightmares" take place in 2006, 2 years before the events of RE5. In this DLC, we have the opportunity to fight Wesker, who poses a great threat. One of his blows is able to throw the player into the wall and stun, and he also has several different ways to kill the player. He's constantly trying to kill us. Instead of walking, he moves exclusively with the help of "blink". This is the most ordinary Wesker, as dangerous and unpredictable as ever.
Tumblr media
Then we meet Wesker in 2009 during the RE5 events. This famous scene, which gave us the quote "seven minutes", must be the most harmless confrontation with him. A child's fight. Here Wesker, to put it mildly, lost his strength. He prefers to follow us instead of "blink". He trying to "show off" in front of Chris and Sheva. It is very easy to deceive him, and his blows do not cause much damage. Instead of throwing the player into the wall and stunning him, Wesker's blow pushes him away only a few meters. At the same time, here he does not have an attack that can kill the player. Is he playing with us? Alright.
Tumblr media
Finally we meet Wesker in our last fight with him (before the volcano). He shouldn't be playing with us here, he's serious. But he's no different from Wesker from the last fight... he just doesn't have any "showing off" animations. But he is still weak and does not carry danger. He had an attack that Wesker had from "Lost in Nightmares", capable of piercing and thereby killing a player with a full health indicator. But otherwise he is not dangerous. I don't feel threatened by this Wesker, even though this is the LAST fight with him! This is his LAST chance to shine in front of Chris! But instead of being as cool as in "Lost in Nightmares", he's just a weak. Walking simulator.
Tumblr media
How much Wesker from 2006 differs from himself from 2009 makes you think. Let's think deeper.
When Wesker kills Spencer, he mimics the old man. It may seem that he really wanted to become a God, but if you don't think about RE5, it really can be mistaken for an ordinary mimicry. Wesker wanted to humiliate him at any cost, because the most important and unpleasant secret of his life had just been revealed to him – he was fabricated. This Wesker is real and he falls off a cliff with Jill and saves her.
Tumblr media
During the experiments on Jill, he starts working on some related project and realizes that it will take a very long time. Therefore, he creates his own clone (or maybe even several) to replace himself. And he also "hands" his clone a wild Jill with P30 in the blood, after all, the Wesker clone is clearly weaker than the original and he needs "support". Of course, the Wesker clone does not know that he is a clone, and continues to develop the idea of "becoming a God." He's a defective clone, and that's why he's so paranoid about this idea. In the end, this "clone" loses his mind and becomes fixated on the idea of "becoming a God" and everything that he had from the real Wesker in character simply evaporates. He becomes a laughing stock, macaroni monster.
And eventually Chris and Sheva kill him, ridding the world of a useless Wesker clone while the real one is alive and just hiding somewhere.
Think for yourself which theory about Wesker seems more plausible to you, anything can happen in this fandom. I really want to know WHO made BOW Chris and WHY.

Daily update post:
It's funny how the biggest news in Israel can change so fast. Throughout the day, everyone was talking about one thing. Then in the evening, all everyone could talk about was the news that Saleh al-Arouri was killed in Lebanon. He was the Hamas commander in the West Bank (meaning, every terrorist attack that happened there, fell under his responsibility. In 2014, for example, he took credit for being in charge of the kidnapping and murder of 3 Israeli teenagers, a terrorist attack which led to Operation Protective Edge, during which 76 people in Israel and roughly 2,000 Palestinians were killed). Al-Arouri was also responsible for the concept of "connecting the scenes" (meaning, the idea that it's legitimate for Hamas to fire rockets from Gaza at Israel, for whatever Hamas claims is happening in Jerusalem, rather than for what it claims is happening between Israel and Gaza), which led to Hamas firing rockets at Jerusalem on May 10, 2021 and thus leading to Operation Guardian of the Walls, lasting 11 days, and during which 13 people in Israel and roughly 280 Palestinians were killed.
Tumblr media
The parents of one of the 3 teenagers murdered according to the orders of al-Arouri in 2014 said that they do feel relief, knowing that this murderer is no longer in this world. Security seniors said that his operational abilities in carrying out terrorist attacks were so extraordinary, that this is a real blow to Hamas' terrorist activities.
I saw an interview with al-Arouri's sister, who said she's not surprised, because "The Jews are capable of anything." Not Zionists. Not Israelis. Jews.
Despite the fact that this is a clear achievement for the fight against terrorism, the immediate reaction will likely be a painful one, so heads of councils from different Israeli communities along our northern border have said that they are getting ready to be targeted.
There was a terrorist attack today in Iran, on the anniversary of the American assassination of the IRGC commander Soleimani, next to his grave, at least 70 people were killed. I have no doubt some people will think this is Israel's doing, but the MO doesn't fit. The number of civilian casualties is huge, and there was no military target present to the best of our knowledge. We've also seen the US trying to lower the flames in the Middle East, so I don't think it's a CIA operation, either. IDK which one of the Islamist regime of Iran's enemies did this, but the fact that there are so many candidates says something.
It's been reported that 3 people of Syrian and Lebanese origin have been arrested in Argentina for planning a terrorist attack at the America Maccabiah games.
Tumblr media
The Maccabiah is the "Jewish Olympic games," founded following the many Jewish athletes who participated in the 1912 Olympic games in Sweden, but were not recognized as Jews. The Maccabiah takes place in Israel every 3-4 years since 1932, when the first games commemorated 1,800 years since the Jewish revolt of Bar-Kokhva against the Romans. The idea was a continuation of a call from 1898, to renew Jewish sports education, which had been neglected in the diaspora, since it was seen as a threat by the non-Jewish environment. In addition to Jewish athletes from all over the world, there are also Israeli non-Jews who participate in the Maccabiah. In parallel, we were also supposed to have the Maccabiah winter games, which were meant to take place in different countries every 3 years since 1933, in Poland, but after the second one, in 1936, the third one only happened in 2023, and symbolically, it was held in Germany. Another thing we have is the Maccabiah continental tournaments, like the current one being held for America, and taking place in Argentina. Lastly, outstanding non-Jewish athletes have been invited along the years as guests, to participate outside the contests for medals, in the Maccabiah games. Here are the posters for the first and second Maccabiahs in Tel Aviv, in 1932 and 1935:

Harvard president Claudine Gay has resigned, after her testimony on the subject of antisemitism on campus included a reluctance to clearly say, that calling for the genocide of Jews is harassment. I wonder, if the new accusations regarding plagiarism hadn't surfaced, whether she would have resigned. The fact that in her resignation letter, she claimed the attacks on her were race-based (as if the pressure on Liz McGill wasn't even greater, causing her to resign a whole month earlier, when the UPenn president is completely white) proves she doesn't see Jewish people or their very real distress. I hope that she would have had to resign even without the plagiarism issue, because allowing antisemitism to thrive on campus is a HUGE problem, and should be treated as such. Firing the people currently responsible for it, or at least making it clear to them that they have to resign is the LEAST that needs to happen. I guess we'll never know whether the antisemitism issue alone would have been enough to have Claudine Gay resign her post. But don't be mistaken, the fight to make sure that antisemitism on college campuses is treated like the serious problem that it is, that's far from over. The resignation of these presidents is just the bare minimum of showing that people care about the safety and well being of Jewish students, there's still a lot that needs to happen for them to be actually safe.
Tumblr media
In continuation of this, 7 Israeli Nobel prize winners have addressed a letter to US universities of Harvard, UPenn and MIT, in which they wrote (my loose translation, as I haven't been able to find this in English anywhere): "Tolerance for violent protests on your campuses, which support the most horrific crimes against humanity, hurts your basic mission, and contradicts an essential component for a climate that encourages study and research: emotional security."
Speaking of the fight against antisemitism, here's a shoutout to the French court that sentenced Youcef Atal to a suspended 8 months in prison sentence and a fine of 45,000 Euros (49,000 dollars). Atal is an Algerian soccer player, who has been playing in France, for the team of Nice, and has shared a post calling for "a black day for the Jews." Not Zionists. Not Israelis. Jews. As if Oct 7 wasn't a black day for the Jewish people already. As expected, anti-Israeli websites are claiming that he's being punished for "Gaza solidarity" or "Gaza post."
Tumblr media
Compare that article, versus these headlines:
Tumblr media
This is 31 years old Ben Shimoni:
Tumblr media
On Oct 7, he was at the Nova music festival. He made it to his car, and drove himself and others he took with him away from the massacre, while he was being fired at by terrorists, and while overhead, Hamas rockets are targeting Israel's south. Then he drove back, and did that a second time. On his third drive, he was murdered by Hamas terrorists. He's believed to have saved at least 9 people. Now there's a song dedicated to his memory and the love between him, and his gf Jessica, by singer Ma'ayan Zar. It's one of many songs born out of the pain, grief, trauma of Oct 7, and the hope that exists even after it.
May his memory be a blessing.

good day madam, i am a hungry lesbian in need of your gayest wresting moments. can you spare me a cup of gay?
Anon you have come to the right person. Everything's been leading up to this. This is what it's all been for. This will probably be long.
Anon I got so excited about this I even solicited my friends for THEIR gayest moments so I'll do those first. You were recommended:
Mahiro Kiryu briefly getting a takarazuka gimmick in TJPW's Hyper Misao produced show HYPE
Tumblr media
Giulia vs Konami from the 5 Star GP 2021, which was described as "the first match I remember watching and going OH MY GOD KONAMI AND GIULIA ARE FUCKING", and their feud did later give us a promo where Konami was like "Hey Giulia, you know how I bully you and you like it?" and Giulia was like "Ahaha, yeah?" and Konami was like "Well that's basically our entire relationship, so there you go." She did have examples.
pretty much anything with Raku/Pom Harajuku/Yuki Aino in TJPW, who my friends have lovingly dubbed the Pomycule
Okay enough from them though. You didn't ask them, you asked me and I asked them. Now for the me. I think it's important to note as well, anon, that not all of the gay shit in wrestling happens in a match, or even in the ring. Sometimes it's just shit on social media, a lot of the time it happens at press conferences, you must maintain constant vigilance. Anyway.
Whatever the fuck Syuri and Utami have going on, which I wrote about here.
Tumblr media
There was the time Himeka kissed Syuri last year
Tumblr media
There was Komomo enjoying getting beat up by Saki Kashima a Little Too Much, which I wrote about here.
Tumblr media
There was the exchange between Utami and Syuri at the press conference for Stardom Gold Rush last year
Tumblr media
There was Tam Nakano starting an entire faction to, in her own words, surround herself with women with big boobs (their focus has since shifted)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was AliKaba, the tag team of Giulia and Syuri, which was basically just one long enactment of gay longing from Giulia
Tumblr media
There was the time Giulia posted this picture with the caption ^-^ and then deleted it
Tumblr media
There was the time FWC, the tag team of Hazuki and Koguma, spent 5 hours in the bath together (sadly they just talked about that I don't have pictures)
another time FWC both got matching bruises at the same time, and then later confirmed that yes they got them together. In the bath again
Tumblr media
There were both Cosmic Rules matches at Stardom in Showcase 1 & 2 which I unfortunately don't have any great screenshots of but I'm positive were inspired by lesbian porn
There are constant small exchanges like this that don't even have a lot of context they just happen all the time
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There was the time Hikari Noa had a hardcore match against Nao Kakuta and after they did this
Tumblr media
There was the time Mina Shirakawa spat on Saya Kamitani and then licked her face
Tumblr media
There was this shit in Act Wres Girlz, which for the record kind of depressingly does not do gay stories super frequently but has legitimately I think the highest percentage of out wrestlers I've seen in any company
There was the brief Tam Syuri feud which shockingly somehow did not involve anyone kissing but had the vibe that they were kissing mentally the entire time
Tumblr media
There was every single exchange Tam and Natsupoi had before they realized they were still in love with each other but ESPECIALLY their cage match
Tumblr media
And, for my money, the gay moment that lives the largest and dearest and most bittersweet in my mind was when Tam and Unagi had their singles match as part of the 5 Star GP last year, which was, unknown to us at the time, something of a farewell tour for Unagi before she went freelance, where afterwards they hugged in the ring for two minutes and then kissed.
Tumblr media
I'm gonna cut myself off there but trust me I could go on and on and on for way too long but that's why I think you should watch for yourself. Wrestling is always moving and new gay stuff is always happening. In conclusion,

#mahoyosweep is getting a movie, congrats, you did it
The Mahoyo movie was announced years ago (before we even knew we would be getting an English translation) though it has been heavily delayed since iirc it was originally announced for 2023 and it was announced on 2021.
To be honest I'm not quite sure how well Ufotable can capture it. Mahoyo already looks good as a VN, but also contains a lot of slow, domestic life scenes that aren't going to be as great to watch as it is to read where you have narration to accompany you.
This isn't the Ufotable that animated Kara No Kyoukai anymore. I've noticed their productions no longer do the slow, lingering scenes or even the focus on character movements during fight scenes. It's all ultraflashy particle effects and meticulously rendered environments and character models.
This worked really well with something like Demon Slayer, but with the Heaven's Feel movies for example, scenes like Saber Alter vs Berserker legitimately got tiring for me to watch. It was funny to joke "Behold the power of tax evasion" while my eyes got obliterated by ten thousand flashes a second, but looking back on it I didn't like how even scenes like Shirou hugging Sakura in the rain had all these bombastic camera movements and effects.
I'm hoping they show a little more restraint with Mahoyo. It's a sleepy town filled with inhabitants who have no idea the supernatural exists, and it's Aoko and Alice's job to keep it that way. There will be a time for Ufotable to do its thing, but it's specifically all the way in the Night of the Witches chapter and I don't want to see the adaptation getting overexcited about Soujuurou learning how telephones work.

the alex kister drama......well......
idk how long i've posted something but ever since this alex kister situation came out, i need to speak my thoughts about this because this situation was the ONLY thing I was thinking
If you're not chronically online, Alex Kister is just a youtuber that created The Mandela Catalogue (2021) and other things like Mystifying Oracle and The Red Box Project, and he got exposed for being weird and predatory towards a minor.......yeah
i actually loved The Mandela Catalogue back then and i was a huge fan of it (even if there was only one post about it in my blog and it was only just a reblog of a fanart in like 2022 probably 💀) like I loved the concept, characters, the creepiness, everything in general. i eventually lost interest in this series and gained new interests in 2023. i kinda forgot about this series until now, and........
yeah, what alex did was fucked up, but here's the problem: I don't know if I should believe the victim or not because there were times where creators were accused for being pedophiles or just being creepy in general and majority of them were false accusations (ex: Kwite, ProJared, etc.). Like...I literally do not know who to trust, and I'm telling the truth. Especially considering the fact that ruining a famous person's career is getting easy, I don't know if the evidence are legitimate or not.
So what's my opinion on this?
I won't pick a side yet. I'm not choosing a side until Alex released his response to this situation. I don't want to immediately jump to conclusions because I don't know who to trust. If everything the victim said was true, let's hope that Alex will stay away from the internet and another person will pick the up series. But if the victim was lying the entire time, we'll beat their ass for trying to hurt Alex. We don't want to repeat our mistakes (especially if you remember the Kwite situation).
For now, I won't pick a side until Alex releases his response. I'll remain neutral.
Yeah, that's all I gotta say. 2024 really is the year huh? I'll post more light-hearted and positive posts after this, because I think there's too much negativity in my blog recently.
Oh and if you're wondering, here's the link to the doc:
TRIGGER WARNING: sexual themes, suicide themes, fucked up shit in general. If you're uncomfortable with these themes, don't read it.
Cya everybody, and I hope you guys are having a decent day.

Seriously, I don't know how the person who interviewed Jess didn't question the fact that Jess lied during most or all of the interview about her experiences and careers professionnels and didn’t she get annoyed with Jess's answers which mostly made no sense ?
Especially her experience in dance when she was young, the fact that she says "I never wanted to be a professional dancer but I wanted to be a dance teacher and I always wanted to go into dance teaching" it does not make sense what she says, because when you want to be a dance teacher, you are obliged to be a professional dancer, to transmit your knowledge and to teach dance to other people (maybe I'm wrong, I don't know not much in the world of dance).
The title of the YouTube video of Jess's interview is "Jess Moloney (Jamie Bower's partner)" the video was posted on YouTube in 2021, I think there are people who watched her video because of title and not because she is co-founder of a company called Ice Studio and that she is in celebrity management (otherwise she would have been written "Jess Moloney co-founder of Ice Studio instead of Jamie Bowers Partner)", because no one would have watched her video and because no one really knew her in 2021, because there weren't many people who people knew she was dating Jamie and that it was a new relationship. Many people started to know her in 2022 thanks to Jamie's success in Stanger Things season 4 (not because of herself), the fact that she was all over the world with him for conventions and Anthony Vaccarello fashion shows in Venice, Paris and Morocco, for almost two years now she has to attract attention to herself through Jamie and her lies.
If it's true that she is co-founder of Ice Studio and that she is in celebrity management, Can she afford to travel the world with Jamie and leave her business ?
Jess is lying about her professional career and her life and no one realizes it, neither her fans, not her supporter and not Jamie and I hope they will open their eyes, especially Jamie.
I'm confused about who this person is and why she was giving an interview in the first place. The intro says "Beats: A Rewind" and she introduces it as if this is a normal thing that Beats does. It uses the official Beats logo in the intro as well. If you go to the official account for Beats you can't find any evidence of this existing in their reels or anything (you think they'd have promoted it if they were partners in creating it). If you go to her account you can find a highlighted reel of her talking about the series to promote it but it doesn't seem like it got very much traction on her end either. She does seem to have worked with/for Beats at some point but this series seems to only exist in one place and with people who aren't extremely noteworthy. I wonder if she and Jess just happened to know each other already and she asked to be interviewed or something, or even paid for it for exposure (to look more legitimate).
I also question why this person, Lily, would think of Jess Moloney of all people to interview as "inspirational" and "pivitol" in the fashion industry or entertainment or whatever the point of this series was...unless she already knew her for some reason to begin with. Why is this the only video interview with Jess that seems to exist and why did she only get it after dating Jamie? Did she talk this woman into giving her the interview because it would get views? Maybe Lily thought that it would boost her follower count. This interview seems more like it was done as a favour to Jess (or for self-serving promotional reasons) than for legitimate interest in who Jess is or what she does.
This is a very long and roundabout way of saying that the reason I think that Lily doesn't question what she's saying and doesn't draw attention to how crazy it is, is because this was pre-arranged by the two of them for cross-promotional reasons and was mutually beneficial. Since Lily actually works in that industry (and you can verify it in various ways, unlike Jess), this woman has got to know that what Jess is saying is entirely made-up bullshit but she probably believed that interviewing her would get her the attention she wanted for the series because of Jess's connection to Jamie so she didn't really care what Jess said as long as she got her interview done.
The first "Rewind" on Lily's account she openly states that she's worked with the woman (Leah Abbott) forever and they've been friends for a long time. Though she does not do this for Jess's interview I'm starting to think that she just reached out to friends that had some level of social status or following and used that to try to launch this series which really only lasted for ten installments. Jess's interview on Lily's account has under 1500 views and only 17 comments. It doesn't seem like anyone who follows Lily really knows who she is.
As for the YouTube video you pointed out (and how it's titled) that's a Jamie fan account. Not the original account that posted the interview. However, I do agree that the person titled it the way they did to maximize the views that it would get because they knew if all they said was "interview with Jess Moloney" no one would know who the hell she was. The interview is directly stolen from Jess's Instagram account (which they say in the description). The only reason this ever got the few thousand views that it did was because of Jess's connection to Jamie, not because she's worth interviewing.
On top of the fact, with how much Jess stumbles over her words, says "um" and "like" and seems to avoid giving realistic details on how anything in her life actually happened (so many things boil down to I sent an email and everyone loved me so much they had to give me a job!) that it's clear she's never been formally interviewed in her life for anything. I can't imagine an actual person who really does interviews for a living (and according to Lily's LinkedIn she doesn't even do interviews for a living) would be able to stand talking to Jess for that long unless they absolutely had to.
As for owning her own businesses (or co-owning Ice Studios) it does seem to be true in some capacity (or it was in the past and the information never got updated) but it doesn't seem like very much is expected from Jess when it comes to her part in running her end of the business. Honestly, it seems like all she does is take credit for inventing the idea that Renell should start an "artist collective" or something (and Ice Studios as an entity existed before Jess got involved, I looked it up) so I don't even know how she somehow convinced Renell to let her be part of this, take credit for it, and then do basically nothing to earn the title she uses.
Jess even said in that very interview when she met Renell she had no experience managing photographers, had no idea what it entailed, but she didn't think it mattered anyway because she would figure it out as she went along and she believed because she was already a manager she could "sell anything" so she sold this idea to Renell without also having the experience to back up whatever it was she was saying. If that isn't the mark of a scam artist I don't know what is, exactly.

I wanted to talk about something real quick.
In 2021 I was booked in to the hairdressers for the first time as an emergency by my sister because even she was like "Hal, you need a hair cut."
It was only when my mum said I could have what hairstyle I wanted and I chose to go part head-shaved for the first time, did my brain truly really know what euphoria was - I was so happy
But it was also terrified me. Because as I made my way home alone, in the back of a taxi/uber , my brain legitimately started asking me a very weird question it had never thought of before this point: What if you're trans?
I pushed the feeling aside, thinking it was me being silly. But over the past couple of years since then, those thoughts have started to come more frequent -
I've come off all of the meds that I needed to, to officially fully recover from my psychosis episode from 2018 from a reaction to sertraline and anxiety spiralled and so on. I'm on the meds I was on before I got bad.
On Tuesday 12th February, my psychiatrist discharged me from her services because she said there's nothing she could do for me- I was happy, I had no problems and we talked about my feelings about who i think I am. You know what she said to me? Because of how much progress I've made, to the point where I can now control my anxiety and push it back so its not even a bother at all, she thinks my brain is starting to explore things it couldn't when I was younger - things I could have known about myself earlier, but I never had the chance.
She wanted me to be happy. She told me it was alright to feel this way. People have been so accepting and I'm so grateful. And there is hope.
I still get that good feeling from a hair cut even now, I love my hair super short and shaved and right now, I feel like I'm nonbinary. But I also have the feeling to start shopping in the men's clothes.
I'm 27 and learning things about myself I didn't realise. I'm still questioning things, I'm still learning.
I'm me. I always have been. And the future is looking oh so bright

What do you think about asoryuu?
Oh boy, this one's going to be a bit loaded, so here's a bit of a preemptive apology for a ramble/word vomit/rant on my end. Suffice to say ASRY is a NoTP for me. When I was first getting into DGS all the way back in 2019/20, I was a bit ambivalent towards the ship. I had only watched a playthrough of the first game, and I had the feeling that Kazuma was going to come back, but the ship didn't really scream to me at that point, and it kind of befuddled me to see how it was so popular (and a bit of a tangent, I think people only really ship the 1-1 dynamic, but that's a convo for another day). If you even look at the header of my blog, it is no secret that I ship Ryuususa, and it is my OTP. When I had watched the fifth case on the playthrough, I was sold on that ship, and the last moments really sealed the deal for me-- there's something really compelling about the goodbye scene between Susato and Ryuunosuke at the docks, and the localization legitimately made me cry (happy tears of course!) Being a little naive, I started to post about it and I got... a LOT of harassment calling me a lot of names/accusing me of being okay with a lot of really horrible things (intrusive thoughts WHOOOOOOP). The harassment was so bad that I only recently opened up to my therapist about what had happened, and I was pulling away from servers/people I thought I was friends with/wouldn't treat me horribly. I found a lot of solace with people who were also violently harassed pre-localization (shout out to the Baroryuu community, you all were really kind to me, and I am proud to also be a Baroryuu lover <3), when I say it was drama filled pre localization, I mean it. I can even point out when my harassment started to March of 2021 when someone on twitter said not to read my dgs fics since I was a proshipper (I hadn't even called myself that at this point, and honestly I don't really use that title [idk how else to describe it lol], but I do follow that philosophy and call myself anti-harassment), and since I hadn't had a twt at that time, they linked to my ao3, and since I put my tumblr on my fics, I got a LOT of disturbing anons. Even when I made my server, I used to have a link that anyone could click on (word of the day is naive lmaooo), and I got a lot of creeps coming in trying to surveil the server and make sure their friends weren't in it (one person was even trying to get access to the nsfw section which was FUN). After reading this, you're probably thinking "what does this have to do with ASRY?". A lot of the major bullies in fandom HEAVILY shipped ASRY, and would harass people who shipped other ships (Baroryuu and Asobaro shippers were racist, Homuryuu shippers were okay with incest because of that stupid "greatest family in the world" line, etc.). All in all, it came with a lot of entitlement and anger that other peopled DARED not to ship that ship. Those sorts of people really tainted the ship for me. As for the ship itself, I can definitely see why people love it a lot (especially 1-1), but I really didn't like Kazuma in 2-4/5. I found him to be really particularly awful and obtuse (which, makes perfect sense in the story! Who wouldn't be in his position?). I was also mad that he only said ONE (1!!!) thing to Susato when he got his memories back (despite HER recognizing him and getting the ball rolling), and it was basically "Thanks for helping out my friend, bye!" (#justiceforsusato lol). Even at the end of the game, I still was mad at Kazuma and didn't really like him. It's only due to my friends (namely @leafyemeralds and her VERY GOOD TAKES in our convos) that I eventually started to warm up to him. Now he's my personal punching bag to Atone(tm) XD I suppose TL;DR I'm not a big Kazuma fan, harassment made me really dislike the ship, so I don't ship it (also, can ASRY shippers tag their stuff? this is more of a problem on twitter, but it happens on tumblr. Filters can only work if they're there =3=)

Hi its me, the anon with the sociological analysis, now with an account! And here I have gathered, to present why I think RBR decided to make many unforced errors with the Brazil PR.
Behold: “What were they thinking - dissecting the PR strategy of Red Bull Racing in the aftermath of the 2022 Brasilian Grand Prix” shout out to the other anon for that!
Lets start of simple, why on EARTH did redbull fail to make Max apologize and take some responsibility?! They absolutely should have, people who have never taken a communications class in their LIFE could tell you that. But why. Well....
There are three reasons that RBR in my view did not make Max take responsibility:
Max has been in the midst of a PR crisis since 2020, a PR crisis that reached a fever pitch years later, in 2022. As a result, RBR was eager to make him seem as faultless as possible, as we all saw, he ended up losing a lot of grace when RBR failed to convince us that he was not at least partially culpable in the issues with Checo.
RBR's first driver strategy is a lot more stringent than other teams. Whilst we tend to assume that teams have first drivers even if they do not admit to it, RBR tends to aggressively favor one driver over another when it comes to things like defending them in the press. This is not new, just look at how RBR handled multi 21.
RBR itself was in the midst of a PR crisis, this was around the time that a lot of articles were coming up about Dietrich, lawsuits to do with racism, criticism about red bull not pulling out of russia etc.
Now remember by Brazil a couple of things had happened, namely, the cost cap scandal, awarding full points at the Suzuka GP and what english speaking audiences thought was not a big deal: Checo not getting to speak to press at his home gp. And this series of missteps was off of the back of AD21 and rumors that someone was using illegal floors. As for Max, since 2020 he has had scandals related to use of slurs, defense of poor behavior etc and then one unforeseen thing happened: Lewis was nowhere near the front, and so RBR could not juxtapose him against his new rival.
What these problems did was that they brought a lot of debate around whether or not Max and Redbull were legitimate champions. They had a controversial win in 2021 and then there were few moments where there was racing against Lewis and Mercedes at large and the few times they did, Max did not bring his best performances, especially in Brazil where even the harsher critics of Lewis were baffled by his attitude.
So with all of this in mind RBR needed to achieve something by the end of the year: legitimize themselves and Max, in order to quell concerns that Red Bull itself was a PR nightmare *and* that Max was profitable.
They failed on both counts but we will get there, trust me.
RBR has had a strategy for well over a decade at this point where they prop up their number one driver, and let a driver from another team be set up as this boogeyman rival, against whom the second driver tends to defend. Just look at what claims Horner has made about multi 21 https://www.essentiallysports.com/truth-behind-red-bull-multi-21/ and tell me you do not see the same script from Brazil last year. "The second driver slighted the number one, and the number one just needed to prove a point. The first driver had had a conversation about this with the second. The second driver was provocative in some capacity" Just one problem. Max had already wrapped up the championship. And it had been controversial yet again because of the full points at Suzuka and the Cost Cap Breach.
So why did RBR PR try it? It had worked before in another conflict that had led to a media frenzy. Only F1 is much bigger now on social media than it was before so everything is a bigger deal if it happens now than a decade ago, Max was already champion *and* the rumor that Checo messed up his race in Monaco somehow had not stopped him from becoming champion, and between Mercedes making a tractor, Ferrari having stale strategies, and the F1 grid being as far apart on the timesheet as ever, the season had long been dubbed a boring one with lower stakes. As a result, audiences were very bemused by Max. Because at this point he was now coming across as needlessly cruel and malicious because he stood to gain nothing from not helping Checo especially after several seasons of bad press around his character.
RBR then tried to counter this by having Checo do clean up, hoping that it would create the impression that he was at least partially to blame and therefore taking heat off of Max who was once again being called "fast but not a REAL championship" with more anger about rumours that there was foul play at Monaco further impacting RBR's image. As you may have noticed, RBR PR also has a very "both sides were wrong" approach to PR. And Max himself often defends his behaviour by saying that other people also behave badly. Once again I draw you back to multi 21 https://racingnews365.com/vettel-offers-honest-assessment-of-webber-role-in-multi-21
This strategy by RBR backfired, because as you may recall, RBR boycotted the press at Checo's home GP.
As a result this created a new debate that unlike the past, perhaps RBR and Max deliberately harmed Checo, and did not value him. Remember that rumors about teammates being undervalued is nothing new, those are rumors that circulate practically every season and not just with RBR.
They tried to neutralize the situation by having Max not take responsibility, because its what they always do. And in this situation they had hoped that fans would view it as an oopsie moment by Max, but unfortunately for them this was the straw that broke the donkey's back. Because in Brazil Max broke an unspoken rule about sportsmanship which is to be gracious. For all the infighting between teammates in F1, in recent years its become even more taboo than it once was to be unable to be gracious to your competitors.
Its been said here before I think, but insofar as having a reputation that makes money, none of these f1 drivers are likely to ever be able to reach the heights of Hamilton especially not in terms of endorsements and level of celebrity. But there is money to be made off of image. And what RBR hoped they could PR Max into was instead achieved by Leclerc. One paragraph before I return to this and wrap this essay up haha.
RBR PR was unwilling to push him to be a little less abrasive, and they ended up paying the price for it. One of the biggest examples of this is that people who call Lewis "crymilton" and say that he does not focus enough on racing were the ones pulling up clips of him giving Bottas his spot when he failed to overtake in the midst of a championship. So much of Max's PR had been built around how different he is from Lewis, just for people to see Brazil and go "maybe he should be a little bit more like that sometimes". When you see people who liked you for NOT being like a rival turning around and using that rival as the example of how you should behave, you are in a PR crisis.
Leclerc on the other hand had a smarter approach. People view him as someone who wants to win, but when him and Carlos Sainz are in conflict or people are debating team orders, people are not accusing Charles of malice. That is not accidental. He will let you interview him and he will talk about how much he respects other drivers, he will be very self deprecating after incidents and importantly he will do his best to avoid getting into what the press says about him. You add those to his social media approach and it gives you this charming boy next door vibe because he does enough to give off the impression that he values sportsmanship. Remember that whilst Max is demonstrably dishonest about not caring about being liked and all of that, he still refuses to ever engage with anything but winning or how he should have won, and in the past RBR could do whataboutisms or people were forgiving of him. And in part it is because of how RBR does its PR.
RBR PR and people who had been forgiving of Max thus far also did so under the assumption that Max was going to grow out of his abrasiveness. They thought that especially now that he was a winner, he would behave in a more traditionally sportsman way. Yet, seemingly from nowhere he just would not? So RBR tried to organize around how he would not cooperate because ultimately what can they do to Max? They do not have a driver to replace him, and they have already signed him for a contract. And before any of that security, they had already been highly defensive of him and did not make him apologize for behavior in the past.
Its just that they entered 2022 not realising that it is not 2013. People are not looking to pundits to tell them what to think so no matter how locked in you are with Will Buxton or Martin Brundle or whoever else, with the advent of social media, people are interacting more. So now you have people pulling up old clips, mentioning past issues, reminding each other of every trangression he has not apologised for.
And that led to them making unforced errors, because they used the old approach of how controlling traditional media narratives means controlling audience narratives. And more than that, they failed what was arguably the only goal outside of winning the season: legitimizing themselves. Already the season has begun with cost cap debates and ad21 debates, exactly what they hoped to avoid.
Additionally there has been a "what do you expect from Max" narrative brewing from the Heineken ad, from past criticism that was directed at both him and RBR about selling products in Russia. In the past people would simply point to a history of teams and drivers having controversial sponsors and brand deals including present day, alas for those teams and drivers it would either go "I give them the benefit of the doubt" or "I am disappointed but not surprised, this is how it is in f1" but for him its already been "Oh you know he doesn't care."
Ultimately, they had to bring back Daniel despite a whole mess around him leaving in the past, because the old strategies just do not work anymore and they do not have better ones. A
Sorry for the long read, but if any of you have questions, just ask!
OKAY HI
firstly, I want to say your blog bio about thinking everything that deep is A++++ because I do too so I'm glad for the company!! Also I want to express my appreciation because you explain things so well and it's just like "OH HOW DID I NEVER THINK OF THAT"
I hadn't even thought about how they essentially used the Multi 21 PR framework but the way I gasped when I read that article you linked.
The comparison to Charles Leclerc is SOOO good too -- I agree that he does PR the way RBR was hoping Max would. There's so much to unpack what you've written, I think I've read it like 4 times now and every time I find something new to think about but I'm forcing myself to respond so other people can read it too HAHAH.
I think the questions I'm thinking most about are -- how do you think RBR will try to utilize Daniel for PR and do you think it will work? And do you think RBR will continue to try and legitimize themselves and Max or do you think that will happen anyways if they have a dominant season?
Thank you again for writing these, they're such a joy to read!!

All Is Not Well At Alpine
So I think it’s time we talk about the French Elephant in the paddock. Alpine/Renault
It can no longer be ignored. Something is terminally wrong at that team and has been for a while.
I’m old enough to remember the Renault team the first time round and their questionable antics, however either rightly or wrongly I have always laid the blame for that era at the feet of Flávio Briatore. However the writing has been on the wall since 2016 and finally we are out of excuses.
Let’s start with the revolving drivers. Palmer, then Sainz, then Hulkenberg, then Ricciardo, then Ocon, now Alonso and Piastri. If you have been a fan of any of those drivers you will probably feel that the team treated them poorly, threw them off at the first opportunity, or if a “better” option appeared. Netflix caught it perfectly, the toxic production line the team had going. And how many times have we excused them for it, “oh he’s under performing” “well of course you would take that driver if he became available”. It still breaks my heart thinking of Carlos being binned off and just looking broken having given up his Red Bull ties for Renault to be booted out a year later. They were literally playing God with people’s F1 career.
As an engine supplier. The split with Red Bull was messy and public. The signing of Daniel Ricciardo felt more like a middle finger to Christian Horner than actually looking to Daniel’s best interests. Isn’t that evident that after a single year, he was on his way out of there through choice? I remember Paul Di Resta saying in 2020, “when Daniel leaves the team I hope he tells you what he’s done for that team, because it’s unbelievable”. As far as I know, we never found out.
Then the partnership with McLaren. Everyone seems to place the switch to Mercedes engines with Seidl, but as I recall at the time, with McLaren beating them in the championship engines had started to be a little slow in delivery or mid season, amazingly, couldn’t be saved or fixed for the papaya team meaning grid penalties. Again we all smiled and chalked it up to gamesmanship.
To sabotage your competitors is one thing but then we discover that Esteban has mechanics he really doesn’t get along with. Now each to their own on Esteban as a character, I’m not going to tell you what to think*, but to sabotage your own driver in such a way. I can’t think of a single reason why you would do that.
Then 2021, the big money star driver is off to your rival and then out of nowhere bye bye Cyril. That was probably the first WTF are they playing at moment.
Let’s talk the young drivers academy. They had collected a wealth of young drivers into their academy to fight for an F1 seat. To date, have they placed any one other than Romain Grosjean? Zhou left and went to Alfa as there was no way in, Lundgaard went to Indy same reason, Piastri has walked away from them now. If you look at what happened with Max Fewtrell, what as an academy did they do to support their drivers following the death of Hubert? I think at this point the Alpine Academy is a failure and a huge waste of money. At least Red Bull and McLaren have their juniors and “finds” dominating the grid. Even Ferrari legitimately have placed 2 drivers. It kind of breaks my heart that is where Abi Pulling is, as I think she is young enough and talented enough to punch through, but sadly is at the wrong team.
Then we need to discuss Alain Prost. Not only to leave the team, but do so with such scathing criticism of the organisation. Alain is respected up and down the paddock and if there was any doubts left something was very wrong, this was the tipping point.
So then we arrive at what has transpired over the last two months. Alonso saying that the threat of Oscar taking his seat was constantly being used, Oscar believing there was no seat for him. I don’t think he’s even got to do the two FP1s he was promised.
Don’t get me wrong, I have never been Fernando’s biggest fan. The damage he did at McLaren in 2007 and then the unnecessary public outbursts during 2017 are still raw, but he is clearly one of the top 3 drivers in the sport at the moment with Lewis and Max. Charles, George, Lando they can’t cope with him yet. So why make him think his seat was ever in doubt? Open the cheque book and ask how much for how long. It’s not hard!
Then to allow Otmar to go out there (and I honestly believe he believed what the team told him) and belittle Oscar’s integrity, for us then to find out Alpine had no legally binding contract with Oscar at all, has to be the final nail in the coffin.
There are no more excuses. This is a team that has been free falling for a while. They treat everyone connected to them appallingly and when you step back and look at it, people have been fleeing that team for a number of years now. Including press officers!
As much as I want Gasly to get a real shot outside the Red Bull programme, if I were a fan of his I’d be screaming “no, don’t do it” every time a move to Alpine is mentioned. I really don’t want Daniel to go back there. The fact he paused for so long before saying yes he would go back speaks volumes.
I’m sorry Alpine. No more free passes, no more excuses. We see you for what you are.
*For the record, I personally have no issues whatsoever with Esteban.

No. 49 - Discover Airlines
You know, 'Discover Airlines' is kind of what some readers on this blog do when I review an airline they're unfamiliar with. Anyway.
Earlier this week I talked about Eurowings. To be honest, that was me laying the groundwork for another post in response to a new development in Lufthansa's quest to kill Eurowings.
I'm sure some but not all of you are familiar with the fact that Eurowings is incapable of going too long without a subsidiary-of-a-subsidiary. They were probably still feeling quite full from their main course of Germanwings when, in 2021, Lufthansa said it was time for another one.
Tumblr media
Yay, new subsidiary! Just one problem.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Well, okay, that doesn't look like all that much of a change. But zoom in a bit closer. That's...yellow. That wasn't in the Eurowings livery at all. A seemingly minor change of logo disguises an actual new livery. Despite this, it hasn't stopped being quite...Eurow, if you know what I mean.
Tumblr media
This screenshot contains multitudes. The fact that they haven't even changed the page title from Eurowings Discover. The fact that they call it the new leisure airline of the Lufthansa Group - yes, the only one, and it's new, it just started existing now, cross my heart and hope to die. The generally awkward phrasing even though this isn't my browser trying to translate it from German or something, this is actually the way it's written. Chef's kiss.
Tumblr media
Happy to announce it, are you? I'm sure you are.
I'm surprised it took them this long. Honestly, I'm surprised they made another Eurowings to begin with. (Especially since Discover Airlines doesn't seem to be low-cost, given it offers business class. 'Cheaper than Lufthansa' is not the same thing as low-cost.) It's a pretty laughable and pathetic admission of their own failure, but to be honest it was obvious from day one that Eurowings Discover would be short-lived one way or another. Even on the old logo the 'discover' is about twice as large as the 'Eurowings', as if begging you to forget what airline this is. That's a reasonable thing to want people to do, since you'd probably like to not be stranded in Cuba for 60 hours during which you are technically an unauthorized arrival. Only one airline has ever provided that particular experience!
Tumblr media
I did mention last time that it's weird Eurowings doesn't use any of that cyan up front, but here's the thing: if you just put it on white it's downright illegible. They may have realized this in their initial design of the livery. They then immediately did it anyway for Eurowings Discover! Some real mind experts on the job here. Anyway, I'm not going to comment on the Eurowings Discover livery because it's just the Eurowings livery with a word added.
Discover Airlines (the former Eurowings Discover) is a long-haul vacation airline, and they'd love to fly you to sunny destinations like Funchal, the Maldives, Corfu...Halifax... Alaska...or Tenerife, or maybe Gran Canaria if you're not feeling Tenerife for some reason. Or Ibiza!
youtube
Unfortunately Venga Airways has had its Air Operator's Certificate revoked and the Vengajet is currently in storage.
Discover Airlines' main competitor in this market is another German airline, condor. I said this before and I'll say it again - condor is worth a billion examples of Eurowhite dreck. There's a legitimate sort of fishhook theory where while I prefer a good livery to condor, I strongly prefer condor to an unsatisfyingly average livery despite the fact that I do think their planes are truly poorly designed. Sometimes a good concept just overpowers bad execution. And, to quote a friend of mine's quip about Unfriended (2014), a film with way too many good qualities to be Unfriended (2014), "it sucks but at least it does it well".
Tumblr media
Surprisingly given this is the Lufthansa Group, the website actually contains a bit of insight into their creative process. Worryingly, this implies that there is something of a creative process and it's simply had these sorts of results. But let's dive into this and see if they've made any changes that aren't worse. Discover Airlines, like Icelandair, condor, Riyadh Air, and others, have included a page dedicated to the inspiration behind their livery and brand. All upcoming images, unless otherwise specified, are taken from this website.
Let's begin with the color scheme.
Tumblr media
This palette is pretty interesting. Blue and yellow isn't unheard of, and blue with a yellow accent is the most common variant of this, but it's still a pretty uncommon color scheme. It helps that they're not common colors for flags, and even the countries that have it in their flags don't use it. Sweden is part of the SAS throuple instead of having its own flag carrier; Air Astana doesn't use yellow; and Palau and Barbados do not have flag carriers. This leaves Ukraine International Airlines as the only flag-derived user of this palette. I don't like yellow on its own, but I actually like it with blue for its distinctiveness. If you pick the right shades it can look pretty nice. Actually...
Tumblr media
image: lufthansa bildarchiv
The most prominent user of this palette, in my own mind, is Lufthansa, back when Lufthansa had a livery I actually approved of, which I thought stuck out and which I miss dearly now. We've fallen so far since then, lost so much, but I wonder if this Discover Airlines palette is an intentional nod to the thing we were robbed of. Indeed, they mention at least the blue being an intentional homage:
Despite the distinctive character of the new design, our connection to the core brand Lufthansa is subtly indicated by elements like the dark blue and the wordmark in the Lufthansa font.
...and they're using Lufthansa's proprietary typeface, Helvetica Neuer. Joy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At least when you make it larger and lighter colored it's not quite as cramped and you can sort of forget it's a hideous font. Something about the all-lowercase styling also cushions the blow by making it look intentional instead of, like I said when discussing Eurowings, not bothering to change from the default font on your word processor.
...well, it also uses the exact same livery layout as modern Lufthansa, that's for sure. Booo. I've gone on a lot about the eponymous Lufthansa Line and how abominably bad it looks on longer planes despite seeming deceptively decent on shorter ones, so let me just show you Discover Airlines's various planes.
Tumblr media
Hmm, yeah. You can just see it getting less and less offensive from left to right. This is why this type of livery needs to adapt on different airframes to work, and airlines are so unwilling to do it.
Tumblr media
This fuselage layout is so overdone I could probably end the post here, but I'm not going to, because I'm not done with their website. This is where this post actually gets a bit interesting.
Fittingly for an airline, it’s inspired by a view of the horizon. More specifically, by the various lines and color nuances that emerge when the blue of the sky meets the landscape. These “skylines” are the most important design element of our brand and arise from various blue tones as well as a sunny yellow.
(Why is all the copy on this website so awkwardly written?)
So, this concept...this is really good. I like this. I like something about Discover Airlines. This is a great idea for a leisure airline. And, like condor, a good idea won't spare you my wrath, but in this case, when it's so similar to so many Lufthansa Line liveries it does earn a few points from me. There's not much else to comment on, so you could be fooled for not realizing this, but there's actual lost potential here. It implies the Lufthansa Group is capable of some measure of improvement over time, which is disturbing.
Tumblr media
This picture, featuring the deeply generic and sort of frumpy Discover Airlines cabin crew uniforms, represents me giving them a condescending high-five as a teacher might give a student aged in the single digits. Good job, sweetie!
Tumblr media
No, seriously. The uniforms are fine to wear to summer brunch but very poor for cabin crew. I think you can buy this off-the-rack from Vineyard Vines. Also, that is the most pre-tied looking scarf I've ever seen.
youtube
I do like the use of the colors as well. The circular highlight, which keeps the tail stripes from being as boring as they might be, puts me in mind of the sun, or a lens flare. The balance of light and dark is tasteful, and I love the hint of yellow. My issue really starts and ends at the Lufthansa Line, that ever-present ruiner of liveries.
I think the solution was fairly obvious. And I'll probably do a Project Runway Runway on it, because I think I can make it happen with a mouse and keyboard - it's genuinely that simple. And that's about where the meaning the website offers ends, so that means it's time for my rating.
Tumblr media
I find myself conflicted, much as I did with Eurowings. There's definitely enough here that I don't want to give it a D, but at the same time I do. I've given Lufthansa Line liveries grades as high as C+ in extenuating circumstances, and I stand by those, but I don't want to do it for concepts that don't translate to visuals, and I don't want to give it to liveries that I don't think are exceptionally good examples of adding elements which mitigate the archetype's inherent flaws. Given its modern relevance, at this point I despise Lufthansa Line adherents more than the old Deltalikes, and I think I'm going to make it a policy that they're all going to get D+ or below unless they really demonstrate something different. Or unless they only fly really stubby planes that the livery looks okay on, but basically no airline has that excuse. Discover definitely doesn't with their A330s.
But given this tangible improvement, given the visual interest added to the tail, given that they have an actual philosophy this time, is a D+ really fair?
...what am I talking about? I gave Saudia and Eurowings D+ for doing nothing despite actively liking how both of their liveries look. Discover missed the most obvious idea ever in order to toe the Lufthansa Line. They're not special and they're getting no mercy.
D+, for Discover
Tumblr media
That's it for today! If I have enough time, I'll fit in a redesign as a bonus post later this week. It doesn't take a genius to know how to make this good. Maybe if they read my reviews, don't send me a cease and desist, and learn from my critiques, in the future the Lufthansa Group can Discover some decent liveries.

14, 25, 26?
Thanks for the ask!! I'm sorry if these aren't going to be super thrilling answers, but some stuff I just don't hear much or don't remember well. ^^;;
[prompt]
14. Any favorite motifs
Haha. Have you noticed. That I like angels. And birds. And wings. And radiant light. And feathers. Do you think that's noticeable in what I draw. Kingmaker has really spoiled me for these- there are so many legitimate reasons to draw them, and I still feel like I'm not doing enough here. At the least, I feel like there's a lot more that I could be doing thematically that I'm not. But I think it's telling that as soon as I started regularly drawing Not Kingmaker stuff I just kept going with the wings- sometimes for Real Reasons, and sometimes... not really. It's my natural state. And I will draw More Wings in the future. This is a promise. I will continue to think about them and hopefully do more interesting and thoughtful things with them, haha.
And I also of course love flowers... I'm not a flower language knower, but I looooove drawing flowers and floral motifs.
25. Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by
Last summer while recovering from surgery I took an actual real figure drawing class, like in a real studio downtown with real people and real models. I had a lot of trouble adapting to the materials, the scale of the drawings (big...), and the idea of shading as one of the earliest parts of a sketch. I remember speaking to the instructor after class once about having trouble, and he was pretty nice about stuff even if it didn't help me all that much except to reduce the stress a little. But in that conversation I remember him saying my art (of which he had only seen the model drawings) had a comic book quality. That really surprised me, especially considering the context! I was trying very hard to do realism the best I could there, and besides that I have just never spent a lot of time with American comic books. Even the artists in that sphere who have styles I find really compelling and want to learn from are just not in my mind when I draw almost ever, and they certainly weren't when I was trying to sketch the model! It was interesting to hear though- one way or another, the graphic background I do have comes through that strongly both in how I interpret things into work that's not meant to be stylized and in how I work. I guess it stood out for better or worse that I leaned so heavily on lines ^^;;
26. What's a piece that got a wildly different interpretation from what you intended
I remember back in 2021 I did this sketch of Nyrissa and Tristian (I swear it is in fact from 2021 despite the post date. my art was slightly better and definitely more accurate to the game in 2022.) where Nyrissa had a hand under Tristian's chin, forcing Tristian to look her in the eyes. I don't really remember what was on my mind drawing that. I think consciously I was just looking for a typical domineering villain pose that seemed fun to draw- I like the idea of the power dynamic between them and I was interested in how that relationship had shaped the Tristian we see in game. Just doing a little thing to put that master/servant dynamic on paper was satisfying for me. Of course, the second I showed it to other people all the responses were like "this is so horny. you can't show me an image this horny." or "this is so horny, I don't know who I want to be." And at the start I think I was always like "noooooo it's super normal!! it's not horny at all!!!" But I think deep down it probably was a horny drawing, whether I did that consciously or not... And I've definitely leaned into that Vibe since then when I draw them together, haha.
That's not a very good story, but honestly I think I just have not seen a lot of interpretations of what I draw that were so different from what was on my mind that they were memorable. ^^;; I don't have a super great memory for this kind of thing though

kind of a vent bc idk where else to put it. maybe a cry for help LMAOOOO
cw sex talk and a godawful lot of tmi.
you’ve been warned.
starting to find myself relating more and more to like,, posts made by asexual people describing their view on sex/sexuality, that feeling of not being in on some joke that everyone else knows, that absence that isn’t felt like an absence.
and I’ve noticed that I don’t need or want sex, or even to touch myself. not out of shame, I just don’t need to. (and a legitimate medical issue but that’s not relevant yet). I don’t understand that pull to sex or sex culture that society has, it doesn’t matter in a relationship to me, i would never want or need an open relationship on MY end since I don’t have the libido to support it. I can literally count on one hand the amount of times I’ve ever been even slightly horny the last two years and every time, I just ignored that urge and it went away. I don’t have that need to let it out.
So. logically, that’d mean I’m probably somewhere on the asexual spectrum, right?
Maybe not.
I’ve never been diagnosed with anything (I can’t afford allat), but I did rudely find out one glorious night when I was, like, 13, that any attempt at masturbation ended in severe, writhing-on-the-floor pain, or feeling nothing at all— no matter what i did.
so like any semi smart person, I never really tried that many times; BUT when I was 15-17, my libido was still really really high. a perpetual NNN, if I may.
and then one day sometime in late 2021(?) it just kinda,, dipped and never ever came back.
yay? I mean, it’s not like it’s a bad thing for me. If anything I’m starting to get a bit sex-repulsed
so therein lies the rub— can i identify as asexual since I do experience a lot of what asexuals describe and experience? or despite the fact that my libido is gone from something else that may or may not be a medical issue? or the other fact that I used to be really horny but am not anymore?
idk anymore
anyways sorry to subject the three (3) people who view my posts to this ramble. I’ve been holding it in for a long ass time.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is the best Ghostbusters *thing* released since 2009.
Tumblr media
In yet another one of my wacky minority opinions, apparently, I think Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is fucking GREAT.
Background: Ye olde Ghostbusters movies were something I grew up on and always loved. I even used to watch "The Real Ghostbusters" reruns. And like many fans, I adore the 2009 video game (now available in a Remaster!).
Then we got the 2016 reboot, and you know something? In spite of all the hate it gets, I enjoyed it! I thought it was funny more often than it wasn't... the theatrical version, that is. The "Extended Cut" they put on Blu-Ray later is like, loaded with alternate takes and extended scenes that are painfully awkward and unfunny IMO. But the theatrical cut is a pretty fun time, albeit a bit lacking in new ideas.
I was basically the prime audience for 2021's Ghostbusters: Afterlife, and... I really, really didn't like it. Because: 1) It's not very funny at all? The "Podcast" character was funny and Paul Rudd gets a couple moments, but it's too busy being sentimental about callbacks to the old movies and memorializing Harold Ramis to focus on comedy. 2) The other half of the movie is a blatant nostalgic retread of the original Ghostbusters, except now in a small town instead of New York. Imagine if half of The Force Awakens was focused on blowing up another Death Star, and you'll get it. 3) Why are ALL the new Ghostbusters children? I get that the series gained a lot of kid fans along the way, but the original was never aimed at kids. Doesn't this feel like a backslide, to make the entire new team be under 18? 4) You're telling me that Egon never told Ray that Gozer was returning? Or that Ray wouldn't believe him? *EXTREMELY* OUT OF CHARACTER FOR BOTH, FUCK THAT. And that NO GHOSTS have showed up for DECADES for no fucking reason? THANKS FOR RUINING ALL OUR IMAGININGS OF INTERIM ADVENTURES. I will say, at least, that the performances were all good, and there are some heartwarming moments in here; Egon's apperance near the end and the credits scene with Dana stand out.
....but here comess Frozen Empire to save the day.
We get a returning cast of both ADULT and KID Ghostbusters... yes, even new adult Ghostbusters! MULTIPLE! Paul Rudd and Carrie Coon get upgraded into the family business, and there's even a plot point centered on whether CHILDREN should be allowed into such dangerous work.
There are ghosts randomly running around even when there's no greater threat pushing them forth; no reason is given for the change in lore, but I don't care because THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD'VE BEEN.
A lot of ideas that me and other fans have often discussed/pondered over the years ("Are there any friendly ghosts who fear the Ghostbusters? What do the ghostbusters themselves think will happen when THEY die? Will THEY become ghosts, and if so, won't other ghosts hate them? Or will they immediately become as hostile as every other ghost we meet? Or what?") are made not only points of discussion but even MAJOR PLOT EVENTS!
We get a new, NON-REPEAT threat — and frankly, it's a spooky-awesome one?!?!
Extensive comedy BACK and ACTUALLY FUCKING FUNNY! (IMO, anyway. Humor is subjective, I know. But they do it while still including good dramatic character development with genuinely touching scenes plus legitimately strong spooks.)
The returning classic GBs are not only in-character, but Janine gets to put on a uniform and fight alongside the boys, just like in the old cartoons!
Phoebe's character is expanded upon in ways that make her still endearing but much more unique than just "mini-Egon genius" like last time.
GHOSTBUSTERS II GETS ACKNOWLEDGED AS HAVING HAPPENED, THANK YOU. I wish the video game was somehow canon, too, but I guess I can't have everything? I preferred Winston getting his doctorate over him becoming a finance tycoon, but whatevs.
My only real complaint is like: Seriously, y'all never went back to the New York Library to get that library ghost between the open scenes of the 1984 movie and now? :P And... well, I do wish Walter Peck had grown and changed as a character since we last saw him, but I've got no other issues. EVERYTHING ELSE IS SO WONDERFUL.
This movie is everything I wish Afterlife had been, and THEN some. And yet... people don't seem to care? The reviews are very "meh"? Despite all these new ideas and great stuff?? Did y'all just want the Ghostbusters to stick to the Midwest from now on or what? Is it too soon for people to want more Ghostbusters? I DON'T GET IT.
Except... well, maybe people just don't care because this is an OLD franchise that failed to get a new movie for like, over 25 years, and people just lost interest in that time? Most adults today probably weren't raised on '80s movies like I was. :P Maybe that's all there is to it.
If this series is gonna die out, though? What a note to end us on.
