These tortoises grow to be between 16 and 18 inches and can weigh 40lbs. The lifespan of this species is not well known.

Went to check on the thermostat for the incubator and got surprised by these two cuties 💜

(The eggs weren't due until next month so I wasn't expecting them to hatch so soon but I'm certainly not complaining 🥰)

One of the highlights of the trip has been the Philadelphia zoo. I’m extremely biased to my local zoo but I think they have some incredible enrichment at the Philly zoo and might go on record as saying it has some legs up on mine.

We happened to catch the end of the Galapagos tortoise time. The trainer would place her target down and they’d amble eagerly toward it for a bite of delicious watermelon.

But the best bit was two who were munching together.

They ran out of watermelon and slowly both their necks rose as they simultaneously decided to fight each other for more delicious sticky treats (which neither of them had any longer).

The trainer huffed in exasperation and marched over, ramming her stick down and ordering like a drill sergeant, “Girls! Target!”

Both feisty ladies immediately desisted their display and turned obediently to the magic yellow circle of watermelon.

Out of these three only Taraxin has seen any altertions, taking more inspiration from its old Mega, which is now defunct. In general they were just desperate for a tidy up. Questox are held in poor regard by much of Bretlan, old legends painting them as conniving and insidious pokemon. Some truth is present in these tales as Questox are dangerous predators, ambushing prey before running them down and inflicting their venom through their vicious bite. Intelligent and self-assured, they can be hard pokemon to train but provide a versatile partner for the dedicated trainer. Tartrap have incredibly adhesive skin which they spread thinly across their immediate area, acting as some form of living web. Whilst a Tratrap will usually wait in ambush for prey to blunder into their tendrils, they aren’t above lashing out with their eyestalk in an attempt to grab anything close enough. The eye is very vulnerable to damage and so this is a risky manoeuver, with a Tartrap preferring to protect it with the bones it collects. Once prey is caught it is reeled into the central maw, where it is ground up by a series of rotating teeth. Taraxin are heavy dragon pokemon that are slow if not tenacious predators. By huffing toxic fumes from their mouths they can quickly coat an area in a miasma that hampers vision and slows reaction times, if not outright suffocating prey. Very territorial, once a Taraxin finds a place bountiful with food nothing is going to make it leave and disputes between Taraxin for these territories are particularly brutal. --Ability Index-- --Attack Index--

last night i had a dream that i wasnlead down to the afterlife by a sort of count dracula guy and it was a massive dome under the sea bed (kind of like those glass tunnels in aquariums where you walk through surrounded by sealife?), and there was a massive hotel in it, i mean MASSIVE, like those really luxurious 5 star tropical ones omg it was so nice and also there were capybaras for some reason??? anyway i ate chicken goujons and chips bc i was kinda craving them but you probably could have ordered anything you want, and then i woke up after sleeping for 12 hours straight.
