Drunk wasps, wild turkeys and pokemon cakes. You live an interesting life.
mmm, bear with me here-
I've taken art classes since I was a kid, like traditional art training since the age of like, five. Mostly from the same guy, he was also my AP art teacher in highschool. But for a lot of that time my art was very... bland, flat. I was taught to draw what I saw, in a very literal sense, he wouldn't even allow us to take a picture of our subject matter to work on outside of class hours (mind you, there were no cell phone cameras then we were working off digital cameras mostly but that's beside the point). So, much of my art was also literal, leaves were greens, brick was red, water was blue. My art wasn't great, and I couldn't quite figure out why.
I also took art classes in college, whole different teacher, he admitted my technical skill was there, but I wasn't pushing things at all, and I really still didn't 'get' it. I eventually got to an oil painting class, and again my technical skill was there, but it fell flat.
Until one assignment. He set up a still life, basic, I couldn't tell you how many damn still lifes I've done, but this one was only in greys. Every single item was a flat shade of grey, and our assignment was 'paint in color'. It took me a bit, to see it, and I won't say that I got it immediately right then, but it started to click. Literally, those vases and boxes were grey, and that wasn't the point, the point was choosing to see the colors in that. There's the golds of the sun through dirty skylights, the copper bouncing up from the cheap flooring, the blue shining from the jacket of the kid falling asleep in the front row. Once you think to look for it, you can see the bouncelights and colors, there's a rainbow in even a white wall, I would know, I painted one.
My point is, life is bland, painfully so, or worse, its stressful, painful. One can see things literally, in dull shades, that tree in the yard invites bugs, living near the metroparks means local forest wildlife, a lot of my 'art' nowadays is done in buttercream, and everything is... boring.
Or, you can find the color in the little things, like the ridiculousness of the fact that apparently local herds of deer like to get drunk off fermenting ornamental pears in our front yard, or the comedy of trying to find a way to explain what the hell Mewtwo is to a coworker that's never played pokemon.
I write and present things the way I do because, I choose to see the colors in mundane things. It doesn't make living less painful, but it can make it easier to bear.

Consider this: Lesbian Yinu (she found out when she was a teen)
I don’t know why but on the rare occasions I have thought about Yinu getting a partner, they have always been a guy.
Though honestly they have never seemed to work out, so maybe instead of Yinu figuring out she is a lesbian as a teen, she figures it out when she is older. Maybe later in life such as late 20s or early 30s.
I just see her as the type to put off ever truly dating for a long time. So her teen years would be very much focused on furthering her career and not even thinking about dating. Sure she probably had small crushes or thought people looked nice, but she never gave it a second thought.
She would try to date in her 20s after taking a leave from NSR, but she’d be more focused on trying to live her life and traveling. She again wouldn’t be looking for a relationship. Maybe a one night stand or a small fling, but she would move on soon to try and experience more of what life has to offer.
Once she gets into her 30s though, I can see her finally slowing down and trying to find an actual life partner. I still see her as trying to find a man, someone like her father was to make her happy like how her mother was. She would be trying to chase that dream love that her parents had. And unfortunately I don’t see her finding it.
I don’t know why, but I just don’t see Yinu as the type to really truly fall for someone. At least not in a super romantic or outright sexual way. She just seems like a person to me who would value very close friends to the point of her potentially having a queer platonic relationship.
I can definitely see her sharing her life with a woman, maybe even a man as well, who she ended up bonding with through her travels and later reconnected with. Together they would share a house and live together and see each other as dependents. Cook, support, and enjoy the company of each other.
Yinu and a few life partners just sitting out on a bench swing in a garden full of plants and maybe a few animals during a breezy summer day enjoying some homemade tea and talking about their adventures in some remote place. It sounds like a lovely time and that is what I see Yinu doing.

Anyone else come to some wildly different conclusion on Ghibli movies with age?
Kiki's Delivery Service: Kid: Being a witch is so cool! Adult: Growing up and growing apart from the life you had before is a natural progression of life. You aren't losing the old parts of yourself, just finding new pieces that were there all along. Life is about changing, you'll never stay stagnant.
Ponyo: Kid: She's such a cute fish, you should always follow your dreams! Adult: Leaving home will not take you away from your family. Even when you're miles away and you feel like you're in different worlds your family will still be there, encouraging you. Parents are meant to let go of their kids at some point.
Howl's Moving Castle: Kid: Sophie's a big sister like me! I want to a princess in a magic castle. Adult (I've also read the book): Sometimes you don't find your place in this world, you make one. The people that come along with you will see you through every ugly part of yourself and you would do the same for them. Chase after that shooting star.
Spirited Away: Kid: What just happened... Adult: SHIT HAPPENS! And it sucks, life sucks but you keep going. You can cry along the way. You are being so fucking brave for even going on this hellish journey we call life. It's okay. You're okay.

chris keeps you secure and warm in his arms as the two of you go on a ghibli marathon. he snuggles in closer, lips pressing against the crook of your neck for the tiniest of pecks before he plans another one further up it--just behind your ear. he cuddles you again, eyelashes brushing against your skin as he lets out this blissful sigh.
"comfy?" you tease a little, and you feel him smile against your skin.
"mmhm," he wraps his arms around you a little tighter, leaning back into the couch even more. "you?"
you squirm just a little to readjust, and relax into him as you enjoy the warmth of his embrace. it becomes just more apparent how badly the two of you needed a cozy, happy movie night like this. "mhm. i'm perfect."
"i know," he giggles. he reaches toward where the blanket has slipped, and carefully readjusts it so that the two of you are nice and snug again. "it's okay if you fall asleep, by the way," he mumbles. "i've got you."
(he falls asleep first anyway. he always does, but you're never far behind when you listen to the sound of his heart beating in his chest. maybe you'll pick the movies back up another day.)

Still in love with the neglected reader trope, but make it unexpected in that Reader was actually breaking the fourth wall by CREATING those written tropes with the batfam narrative in their ao3 account.
They are happily typing away as another tragic chapter is released.
Sitting in their comfy chair that baba had bought them recently, tucked in with the fluffiest blankets that Dick had purchased, and hair pulled back by a cute kitty-shaped scrunchie that Damian had picked out for them. The picture perfect civilian sibling pampered and adored.
So why, Tim wondered as he stared at his phone’s screen to see a new batfam x neglected! Self Insert, why were you so swift in these chapters and one shots?!
And why were they so sad?
Couldn’t you write something cuter?
Nicer?
Why was it so dark and tear jerking?
Seriously — in what universe would the Wayne’s ever treat their littlest sibling/child in such a way?!
Sure their vigilante persona’s were propped up as some ‘found family’ situation, but it still hurt to ever imagine causing such heart ache to you.
Maybe… he should bring this up to Bruce.
