One thing it hit me when I was scrolling through Harry Potter stuff and I was like, "Oh lord....how did they survive 7 years in Hogwarts" and it was "HOW THE FUCK did the Patil Twins and Cho Chang like not freak out at the fact that Hogwart's Food had no Rice or Noodles"
Like Hogwarts is British, the amount of Rice they are going to get would be from Welsh Rice Puddings, Irish Dunmurry Rice and low chance of Cornish Game Hens with Wild Rice Stuffing, but OH HELL NAW there are no Noodles.
Cho Chang and the Patil Twins must be screaming internally being like,
"Where the Fuck is my Briyani?"
"Where is my Mala Xiang guo when I NEED IT?"
"What do you mean there isn't Chongqing Mian?"
"They don't even have Tikka Masala? WTF?"
And so in Every Fibre of my being, my headcanon is that the Patil Twins and Cho Chang hang out at each other's Houses so they can finally get their Asian Food.
They also make Electricity or Steaming spells to run a Rice Cooker or just Steam a bowl of Rice they got from a bag of Rice and packets of Noodles they brought from home.
Imagine waking up in the Middle of the Night and it's just Cho Chang studying near the Fireplace while having a whole set of Guò Qiáo Mǐxiàn, like she got a platter of Quail Eggs, Ham Slices, Chicken Slices, Vegetables, Rice Vermicelli and a pot of Hot Boiling Soup from her Cauldron Levitating over the fire in the fireplace and just looks at you and be like, "Sup"

Day 5: Mr Snake
Naga Bakugou x Human AFAB Reader
Tumblr media
They always told you to stay out of the forest. Sometimes the snakes there were bigger than you thought they were.
Words: 7,3k. NSFW Warning. SMUT. Blood. Biting. Breeding Kink for Mr Snake-boi. Venom. Tranquilizers. DUBIOUS CONSENT. Katsuki is an Albino Copperhead Naga
You looked down at your map to try and find the camping site that was recommended on the brochure. You were on a camping trip, albeit it being a one-man camping trip, but you were still going to make it a good one. Initially it was supposed to be you and a group of colleagues camping but emergencies kept on popping up one by one and soon you found yourself alone on a trail in the forest trying to find the camp site that was suggested.
You had never done this by yourself before, and it was all the more exhilarating to do it knowing that you were going to survive this all on your own. Not like you had plans not to survive, but your intrusive thoughts kept telling you that this was the start of your horror story documentary on Netflix.
You heard the sound of an engine not to far away. It was actually really close. You stopped on your path and raised an eyebrow as you looked around for the source of the sound. You scratched your head over your hat as you thought you were going mad.
“GET OUT OF THE WAY!”
Just in nick of time, you stumbled back onto the ground just as a quad bike went zipping into the air nearby you and landed on the ground with a loud thud. You looked up with wide eyes as another one shortly followed it, but the driver of this one skidded to a stop.
“Oh my goodness, are you alright?” You looked up as a man hopped off his quadbike and crouched down offering a hand. “Don’t worry, I am here.” You looked up, lifting a hand to block the sun trying to see who it was.
“Jesus?”
You heard a laugh come from the man. “Last time I checked, Jesus isn’t Asian but I’m sorry to disappoint you.” As you took his large hand, you were pulled up to meet the green sparkling eyes of a ranger. He had a green hat on his head that matched with his dark green curls and undercut. He smiled down at you kindly as his gaze locked on yours, matching green eyes to go with his hair. A broad grin, accompanied with dimples, went to his freckled face as he helped you up to your feet. He tilted his hat down to you, his eyes never leaving you. “Midoriya Izuku, forest ranger.”
“Uh...” You blinked up at him for a moment. “Y/N. Civilian.”
He laughed at that. He observantly noticed your camping supplies and the map that was previously in your hands. He bent down to pick it up for you. “Are you going camping?” He asked as he looked over where you had circled to go to. You nodded with an affirmative sound. “By yourself?” He asked concerned as he stood up to full height.
“It’s alright.” You tapped your bicep to make a show of your non-existent muscles. “I’m a big person. I’ve got this.” You stood proudly with a determined look on your face.
For a moment, Midoriya thought you looked like a little Animal Crossing character, with the stars in your eyes. He chuckled at that, handing you back your map. “Alright then, big person. You show the forest what you got.” He nodded his head, looking you up and down so subtly you didn’t notice. “Just go straight to the camp site, and stay on the path, we have a...” He hesitated with a sort of annoyed look on his face. He looked away from you into the forest with a sort of glare. “Snake... problem in these woods.” He turned his attention back to you, his kind smile back on his face in a way that you barely remembered the hostility at all. “Just be safe.”
You nodded your head. “Thank you, Mr Midoriya.” You stated with a nod to your head.
He opened his mouth to speak. “DEKU!” He turned around to see his comrade on her quadbike, looking at him. She had her brown thick hair tied up behind her head as she looked at him in urgency. She stood up on her bike, straight, revealing to you a perfect hourglass figure. “Lets go!” She told him, motioning behind her, where she had come back from, noticing that he hadn’t followed her.
“Alright!” He shouted over at her. It was then you noticed that he had a name tag that said the name ‘Deku’ on it.
It was then that he took a small jog to his bike. “Deku?” He turned back to look at you. You looked at him inquiringly.
He chuckled. “Ranger nickname.” He informed you. He motioned to his comrade. “That’s Uravity.” He told you. “Remember to stay on the path. Don’t go looking for trouble when the heroes aren’t there.” He warned you. With a final rev of his engine, he went driving off, Uravity following him in the trail of the dust he left behind.
For a moment you did nothing. Then you smiled diabolically “What a nice cutie pie.” You state to yourself as you kept on walking.
Sadly, for you, the words of Midoriya might have just been words to fall on deaf ears as you quite literally got lost. You were now in the dark forest with your phone as a flashlight, looking around for the path again. You were getting worried and anxious. It was dark, really dark, and what wasn’t helping was the fact that you were all alone with no signal and had no other way to contact Mr Nice-cutie-pie ranger for help.
You grumbled to yourself as you looked around the woods. “Argh... I should have just stayed at home.” You let out to yourself. Just as you did you heard a twig snap. You gasped and turned your entire body towards the sound. “Who’s there!” You called out into the dark, seemingly empty, forest.
You couldn’t see anything as you looked around. A chill went up your spine as anxiety full on settled into your body. You didn’t know what was about to happen but you prayed to the heavens that someone would take care of your cat. Your breathing increased as you started moving backwards. You then stopped as you heard a sound you didn’t want to hear.
The sounds of a snake. The long hiss of a snake that was much too loud for your liking. You tried to figure out where the sound was coming from, but it was seemingly coming from all sides of you. You tried not to freak out, the thought of multiple snakes starting to creep into your mind. You started to slowly back away from the area, hoping that one wasn’t behind you. Unfortunately for you, you stepped on something cylindrical.
You froze as you slowly looked down to see the thick tail of what looked like the pattern of a white and cream coloured (almost orange) copperhead. A big copperhead from the looks of it. Your face fell for a moment as you realised your luck.
“Fu-CK!” Your legs suddenly got wrapped and tangled in something and you were suddenly hoisted up into the air defenceless. You screamed as you were hanging upside down, your phone having fallen out of your hand to land on the ground with the flashlight facing downwards. You looked up to see what looked like thick moving coils wrapped around your legs. Your eyes widened, wondering what type of snake the ability had to do that.
“Look...” You heard a voice start. You were spun around to face the dark silhouette of what seemed to be a very large person, with glowing vermillion eyes. “at what I have here?” Hissing down at you was a blond man with a forked tongue and eyes of pure fire and blood. You looked down noticing he was shirtless. Then you also noticed that he didn’t have legs. From his waist down was the tail of a snake. He was absolutely humongous and clearly hostile and unfriendly too. However, it was hard to tell with the giant smirk on his face. “A pretty little human for the taking.” He grinned as he moved closer to you. His hypnotising red eyes locked onto your form with a look of hunger on his face.
You looked up at him with wide eyes. “Y-y-you're a-a... a naga.” You whisper in shock.
He raised a blond eyebrow at you. “And you’re a human.” He pointed out. His eyes trailed your upside-down figure for a moment. Then all of a sudden you were dropped to the ground with a thud. You hissed in pain as you luckily landed on your side and not on your head, however your hip really started to hurt and so did the side of your arm. You let out a small cry in pain as you tried to push yourself off the ground. “I would stop making such pretty little noises if I were you, little one.” His voice rang into the air as you heard the hissing again. Suddenly you saw you were being circled by a thick long white tail. He was circling you and very fast too. You tried to find where his head was but your senses were being overwhelmed by the pattern and colour of his thick tail. Suddenly you found your body up straight and wrapped up in coils as he looked down at you with a grin with sharp fangs. “Food tastes so much better when it’s in pain.” He told you as he leaned closer to your ear.
You looked at him wide eyed. You shook your head trying to get out but he only tightened his hold on you making you gasp. “I’m sorry Mr Albino-Copperhead-Naga, but I-”
“Bakugou.”
“Excuse you.”
“No, human!” He hissed at you in annoyance. “My name. Bakugou Katsuki. It’s like me just calling you... He looked your features over. He squinted as he sniffed you. “Well whatever type of human you are.”
“I am Y/N.” You smiled up at him. He frowned at your smile. It ticked him off. “And as I was saying, I’m sorry for stepping on your land Bakugou, I didn’t know.” You told him honestly.
He glared down at you. “Didn’t the annoying Deku warn you about straying off the path?” He asked you. “He’s always ruining my fun.” He grumbled more to himself than for you to hear.
You tilted your head. Then you smiled dreamily. “Oh... you mean the nice cutie pie with the freckles?” You asked with a sigh, remembering him and his gorgeous thighs.
Bakugou’s face scrunched up as your scent changed. Of course, you didn’t notice it but he did. He let out a growl of a hiss as he tightened his hold on you making you squeak at the tightness. He barred his fangs to you as he glared down at you. His body positioned higher than you as he glared down at you domineeringly. “Don’t fucking get aroused by that walking tree! He wouldn’t make a good mate.”
You hummed as you thought of the green haired ranger's large hands. “Hm... I beg to differ.” You nod your head. “I bet he has tons of people to call.”
“What! No he does not! He probably is a loner, and he still lives with his mother too!”
You look at him with a raised eyebrow. “Please, Mr Snake.”
“Bakugou.”
“Bless you.” You ignored his correction of your statement. “But I don’t exactly see you with any mate.” You point out.
Bakugou was taken aback as he moved his head back in surprise like a snake that had just got slapped on the head. His arms folded over his large chest. His upper body was packed with muscle to match his thick scale, but he had a thin waist and clearly mythical attractiveness about him. He scowled down at you. “How do you know I don’t have a mate?” He asked with an almost smirk, thinking he had won the argument.
You look around the dark forest. Your eyes had adjusted so that you were now able to easily see around you. You hummed as you tried to find anything that remotely looked like signs of another obnoxiously big snake. “I... I don’t see anyone...” You looked at him with a ‘really?’ look. Instantly he lost his smirk. “Besides, if you had a mate, you wouldn’t be standing- sorry, that’s not very inclusive... uh, what do you do? Slither? Sit?”
He looked at you annoyed. “Stand is fine.”
“Okay great. Where was I? Oh, yes. You wouldn’t be standing around talking to me now, would you?” You tilted your head to the side with wide eyes and looked back up at him.
Bakugou huffed as he angled his body slightly away from you. “I... I’m just defending my territor-”
“HA! You lonely, Mr Snake!” You laughed.
Bakugou looked down at you with a frown. “I’m not-”
“Lonely!”
“I-”
“Mr Lonely-Ass-No-friends-ass-got-nobody-to-talk-to-ass-Albino Snake-”
A huge growl sounded as suddenly you were unable to breathe. All the air was sucked out of your lungs as Bakugou’s thick white tail squeezed you tight and his dark red eyes looked down at you with malice and annoyance. A chill of fear ran down your back. You sensed you had made a mistake of some kind. Bakugou leaned down and bared his teeth at you. “Looks like my days just got a lot more interesting.” He hissed down at you.
He uncoiled himself from around you, finally allowing you to breathe. You collapsed onto the ground, gasping for air as you were finally let loose for a moment. However, that was short lived as you were grabbed and dragged away from where he had dropped you. The blond naga, held you tightly with his tail and pulled you along to God knows where.
“Ah... Mr Snake... Mr Bakugou... where are we going?” You asked as he lifted you off the ground but kept you tightly bound and following him.
He didn’t look back at you as he moved forward, his body swaying side to side slightly as he slithered onwards deeper into the forest. “Den.” He stated simply.
“Ah yes.” You nodded. “But to do what?”
“You are my mate now.”
Your eyes widened. You quickly shook your head furiously as you truly understood what he was saying. You started to realise that maybe just not coming on this trip at all would have been better than getting kidnapped by a naga. “No. No, no, no, no, Bakugou. I can’t be your mate.” You told him with certainty. “I’m a human. You’re half snake. It’s not going to work. I have enough snakes in my life, thank you very much.”
He stopped for a moment, pulling you closer to him. You had to applaud that his tail strength and ability to move his tail around so effortlessly was very impressive as he held you with it. He pulled you to once again hang in front of him. He looked your body around. “You do have a slit do you not?” He asked as he looked around your abdomen, his hands grabbing at your flesh making you laugh. You giggled as he moved his hands around. He put his finger in your belly button, making you squeak. He glared at the odd thing before adventuring further down your body. He started tugging at your pants trying to see what was hiding between your legs.
“Hey!” You quickly hit his side making him stop and stare at you. “Don’t touch there without my consent! That’s rude!” You glare at him with a warm face. “Besides you haven’t even brought me dinner first.”
“Dinner? Are you hungry?” He asked you with a tilt of his head. Before you could even answer again, the both of you were moving, but much faster. You held onto his tail as you were suddenly speeding through the forest moving towards wherever the hell, he was taking you. You then widened your eyes as you noticed that the both of you were now by a mountain side with what looked like a cave. Bakugou moved inside effortlessly, before plopping you down on what seemed to be a bed made out of pelts, leaves and wool. You carefully sat up as the snake started making his way out of the cave again. “Don’t move.” You knew it wasn’t a suggestion as he left out of the cave.
You looked around and noticed that you were in a very sticky situation. The cave seemed well maintained though, but you wondered how you would ever get out of it. First thing you did, was stay put. You weren’t going to anger a very scary, giant and heavy snake hybrid further than you already have. It would be stupid. Besides, as he said, this was his territory. He knew the forest probably better than you ever would. Trying to navigate it in the middle of the night with no map was going to be disaster waiting to happen.
You took off your backpack and put it in front of you. Luckily you still had some items you would need if you were staying here for a few days. You opened your backpack but then you whimpered at some pain. You noticed that your arm still hurt, probably from the initial fall. He seemingly liked to drop your body as he pleased. You wondered if you had any cooling cream inside your back. As you searched with your non injured arm you took off your jacket to assess if there was any exterior damage. You sighed as you saw only bruises, and nothing cut nor scraped.
Deciding that now was the best time to take care of yourself before Bakugou came back, you applied the cooling cream to your arm, allowing the warming bruise to ease at the feeling of the cream on your skin. After that you took out your small blanket and a travel pillow. You had dropped your sleeping bag somewhere but that was fine for the mean time. You started shifting your items and placing them in a nice way to not bother you when you went to bed.
“Look at you getting cozy.”
“Oh my God!” You nearly saw the light as the voice rang out.
Bakugou chuckled as he moved back inside the cave, holding something in hand. You placed a hand to your heart as you tried to breathe to calm it. The naga circled around the place you had adjusted to suit you. “Making a nest? I didn’t know humans' nest.” He spoke out as he circled you with his long tail that you were sure was probably over thirty feet long.
“Nest?” You asked with furrowed eyebrows. You looked down at the pillow and blanket over what you would consider what he built to be a nest. “Uh... sure.” You weren’t entirely sure what he meant but you kept to yourself about that as you settled in perfectly.
“Here. Dinner.” Throwing to you on your lap was a rabbit.
You looked down at it for a moment, then you realised it was dead. “OH SWEET JESUS!” You jumped up and positioned yourself far away from the dead rabbit as you leaned against the wall that he formed out of his coils around you. Your heart beat out of your chest as you tried not to become too stressed out. Bakugou raised an eyebrow as he lay on top of his tail, a hand holding his head up as he lay to the side. “It’s dead.” You announced.
“Uh yah... did you want to kill it yourself?” He asked.
“NO!” You turned to him with furrowed eyebrows. “I can’t eat that.” You motioned to the poor fluffy soul that you hoped was hoping around in green pastures with endless amounts of vegetables. “My stomach can’t digest raw food well.”
Bakugou hissed annoyed. “You humans are so complicated.” He folded his arms and closed his eyes.
You furrowed your eyebrows. “Aren’t you hungry?”
He raised an eyebrow as he looked down at you. “And you think a rabbit is going to solve that? No. I’m still digesting.”
“Digesting what?”
“A child.”
“BAKUGOU!”
He chuckled at your upset expression. You couldn’t help but notice how nice and deep his laugh was, accompanied by a smile. You knew that if he were a human, he would have been modal worthy. He looked back over to you. “Deer. I don’t eat humans. You guys taste bad with all the shit you eat.” He told you sticking his forked tongue out in disgust.
You stuck your tongue out a little bit. He raised his eyebrows in surprise. He leaned over closer to you, his face not too far away from yours. You watched his pupils expand slightly. He stuck his tongue out again and so did you. You moved your head back and forward once. His pupils dilated again as he followed your motion again. Whatever you did with your head, moving it whichever way you wished, he copied. Finally, you bopped his nose with your own, taking him by surprise.
You looked up at him going with a grin on your face. “You to continue to dance for me, snakey snake?” You asked moving your eyebrows up and down.
You watched a blush cross over to his face, his cheeks going pink. He glared down at you with a nonthreatening hiss and turned away from you, crossing his arms and lying on his tale. “I’m sleeping now.”
Your eyes widened as you realised what his denial meant. “You can dance?”
“Goodnight.”
“Dance for me, Bakugou.”
“Stop talking.”
“Snakey dance!”
He groaned in annoyance.
You had been staying with Bakugou for the past week and so far, you couldn’t really complain. It did suck to know you didn’t exactly have the things from your life like electricity, a microwave, or food that didn’t make you feel like you were a bad person, but it wasn’t entirely bad. Bakugou, despite all the angry shit he gave you and his constant grumbling, was a very attentive person. After the whole rabbit incident he stuck to getting you snacks. You wondered where he got the human snacks from but you assumed he just stole them for you, which you didn’t entirely mind (Don’t steal kids).
He was also very interesting when he chose to talk. He told you a lot about his past, his friends that didn’t live too far away from here but were also planning on settling down too. He told you about all the places his seen, the hybrids his met. Your favourite time with him is that sometimes, maybe every second or third day he would coil around you at night and the two of you would look at the stars. He would tell you about tales you could hardly believe in with beasts just as monstrous or scary as him. He told you about a time long ago when hybrids were more common than humans. It was one of the few times he was ever so soft or gentle with you. He was mostly just like that when he was sleepy.
He was sleepy quite often actually. Especially in his midday naps were he would lie in the sun, on his back and basically sleep there for a few hours as he took in the heat. You knew that as a relative to a  cold blooded animal, he needed the sun. Even then, he would often either block your way out or leave you to do whatever you needed to do without his prying eyes that were always watching you.
While he was sleeping, you made sure to change into a change of clothes you had packed and do your business away from his eyes. You also attempted to wash in a lake nearby that Bakugou had (sort of) told you it was safe enough for you to submerge yourself in without fear of puranas or some other predator.
The oddest part of everything was, you didn’t run. You hadn’t done much to provoke him into distrusting you either. You spent most of your time making flower crowns and giving it to him, to watch him blush, or trying to seduce him with your attempted snake dance that he found halerious because of how uncoordinated your limbs were (You almost got him to do it for you but he quickly caught on and almost bit your ass off for that).
You noticed that Bakugou had the habit of gifting you something, whether it be food or an attempt at a flower crown (he was getting there) and when you accepted it, he would put his chin on your head and rub his shin on your shoulder and head. It seemed to be a real calming act for him, since whenever he did it, his eyes would close and he would sigh for a moment.
You decided to test this theory.
Bakugou was asleep sunbathing, his arms cross as he lay on his stomach on a large slab of stone. You carefully moved around his tail, being careful not to step on it despite knowing that his tail was thick enough that it wouldn’t hurt him if you did step on it. He was really silent when he wasn’t talking or hissing, just like a snake. You wouldn’t know he was there if it wasn’t for the fact that he was a giant naga with a tail that was probably ten times your size.
“Bakugou.” You said his name as you got closer to his upper body. He ignored you as he kept his eyes shut as he lay in the sun, trying to soak up the heat. You walked over to sit in front of him. You crossed your legs and tapped his head. “Bakugou.” Once again there was no response. You bent down closer to his face. “Ka-tsu-ki.” You drawled out.
Bakugou opened his eyes tiredly as he looked up at you. His red eyes locking onto you with a glare. “You annoying person, waking me up during my very important nap.” He groaned as he tried lifting his head. You shifted forward to bring his head into your lap. You pulled your hand through his hair as you looked down at him, caressing his face. Bakugou frowned but his cheek grew pink in colour. You were really touchy, naturally. A very affectionate person, and to him, he could never understand why. “Mh?” He asked with a frown. “What’s up?”
You didn’t answer him. You just smiled. You leaned down and put your shin on his head and rubbed your shin against his soft tufts of ash blond hair. You tried to replicate the little hidden rumble he makes whenever he did it to you, of course it sounded more like a humm than anything else but you tried. You moved your head away from him with the same smile on your face.
Bakugou however wasn’t smiling. He looked up at you with wider eyes than you had ever seen on him. He seemed shocked. Shocked right off his axis. His red crimson eyes held your gaze for a long moment, his own gaze was unblinking and intense as he looked up at you. You stuck your tongue out at him. You moved to get up but immediately you were pulled up off the ground. You found yourself in Bakugou’s arms as he moved off of the warm place he was in and towards the cave he resided in. You tilted your head to the side in surprise at his urgent movements that seemed rather unlike him but you weren’t going to complain. It meant a free ride back.
When the two of you made it inside, you were immediately wrapped up in coils. You wondered what was up with him today as he never really left his afternoon naps before. Before you could ask anything you noticed coils grind between your legs making you squeak at the sudden friction. A rush of heat went up your neck to your face. “K-katsuki. What are you doing?” You asked.
His eyes on you reminded you of the first time you met him. Hungry and with a hidden agenda that was beyond what you knew. He watched as you shifted left to right, trying not to show how aroused you were getting, but Bakugou could tell, obviously he could tell. “You are really slow human, but you catch on quickly. But it is a relief you think the same as I.”
Your eyebrows furrowed. “Think about wha-” You stopped talking as you bit down on your lip to stop the moan that was going to be pulled out of you. Along with the increase in pressure to the coils that were rubbing against your clothed sex, you felt his hands move to grab and grope at your chest. He positioned himself behind you, feeling at your skin as his hands adventured underneath your shirt. You let out small whines with your mouth closed not wanting to make sound.
“Hm... you could be more sensitive...” He let out more for himself than for you to hear. Soon the blond had an idea. He leaned closer to your ear, his tongue brushing against it. “Scream for me.”
Before you could question what he had just said, you felt sharp fangs pierce your neck. You jolted forward as a scream was pulled out of your throat at the painful feelings of his fangs inside of you. You whined at the pain but then a blooming heat went across your body. You felt hot all of and you could barely think straight. Bakugou retracted his fangs from your neck, licking the blood away with satisfaction. With the small dose of venom in your veins you would be just how he wanted you to be.
With a single brush to your chest with his hands you were quivering in his grasp. He chuckled. “Perfect.” Ripping your clothes off your body, he lay you down on the nest to try and get to you quickly.
You were breathing heavily as everything felt so hot. “Katsuki.” You let out lowly. “Help.” You whined. “I need help.” You let out needily. You weren’t even sure what was wrong with you, but you were in desperate need of anything to make the blooming heat and ache go away.
He smirked down at you diabolically. “It’s alright, sweetheart. I’ve got you.” He assured you as you were finally naked underneath him. It was like this that he realised how small you were compared to him. How you were only but a small fraction of his actually size and weight against yours. It only made him grin wider. His eyes roamed your body, settling on your sex with interested eyes. He moved down towards it. He watched with interest and curiosity. “...not like the others...” He mumbled to himself.
He pushed a finger inside nearly making you sit up abruptly with a gasp. He noted down that reaction in his head. He moved his finger in and out of you with his eyes hypnotised on your sex and the noises it made. A shiver ran down your back as you moved a hand back to grab onto his tail for support. Instantly Bakugou flicked his eyes up. In some consolation for you, he wrapped the end of his tail around your hand for you to squeeze to your heart’s content.
He then noticed your clit. He tilted his head to the side confused. As he forced in another finger inside you, he brushed the pad of his thumb down against it. With the venom running through your vains, everything felt like it was an overload of friction and stimulation that your body wasn’t ready for. You gasped as your walls clamped down on Bakugou’s fingers in need and frustration. He raised an eyebrow. He did it again and this time you freely let out a moan out into the air.
Bingo.
He knew what he wanted to do next. He curved his fingers inside as he moved them around the inside of your gummy walls. He smirked at the way your insides squelched around his fingers. Bakugou brought his mouth to your clit linking across the sensitive bundle of nerves. You gasped as you squeezed his tail and wrapped your thighs around his head. “Katsuki!” You cried out his name loudly, echoing off the walls only encouraging his efforts. He started to lap at your lips and the juices escaping you, as if it was the only sustenance on earth to satisfy his hunger. “Fuck, just like that Katsuki! Just like that. Don’t stop.” You encouraged him.
Bakugou tried his best to work open your hole as best as he could. He couldn’t hurt you so he needed to make sure that you would be worked open as best as you would allow him. Then again, he wouldn’t mind hurting you. It made it all the more delicious to him in the end, but he chose your comfortability over what aroused him the most. With a scrap to a spot that had you seeing stars, you clamped down on his thick fingers harshly.
You arched your back with a cry. “Fuck!” You cry out as you could barely breathe. Your walls spasming and working to try and knead his fingers for something he couldn’t give you from them. He gently guided you out of your high allowing you to finally get air back into your lungs. You sighed as you collapsed down back into the soft nest below you.
He finally relents allowing to relax below him. Your breathing heavily, trying to fill back up your lungs. Bakugou stands over you, licking his hand of your juices, not wanting to waste a single drop of it. He grinned down at you sinfully. “You taste impeccable, my little Y/N.” He spoke down to you menacingly. “Better than any of the other females I’ve come across. I might just want to keep you like this.” His eyes unbashful looked over you in your recovering state, your legs still spread for his eyes to easily see your sex. “But I have plans for here.” He dragged a hand back down to your cunt, brushing against your clit making you whimper. He chuckles.
Bakugou picks you up to wrap your legs around his waist perfectly. You looked back up at him, then your eyes nearly bulge out of your skull once you realised that suddenly he had two cocks when he didn’t even have one visible to you before. You looked down at them in horror before looking back up at him. Bakugou chuckles menacingly as he lines both cocks with your entrance.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be nice.”
“Katsuki, wait I- FUCK!” You screamed as he bullied his cocks into the depths of your tightness. Long painfully cocks that forced your sex to stretch and allow space for the both of them. Although Bakugou beant down to bite your neck once more to allow more venom inside you, to relax you more. Once it reached your heart, pumping fast around your body, you felt yourself gasp in pleasure as the stretch turned absolutely delicious within you. “Katsuki...” Your eyes rolled back as you moaned out his name.
Said naga bit down on his bottom lip as he forced himself inside you. You felt so good, so tight and so warm. He almost fell in love with the feeling. Hypnotised by your body and all it could give him. He could see a belly bulge forming in your lower abdomen which only made him happier to do this. He had broken skin on his lip but he couldn’t will himself to care. He was going to fuck your cunt into submission, make you feel every ounce of pleasure so hard that you wouldn’t know what to do but to stay with him and continue to scream his name.
He was sure of that.
And that’s exactly what he did as he slowly pulled back and slammed back into you with a fluid movement of his hips. It only made you moan and gap as you arched your back forcing yourself closer to him. Your hands clawing down his back as he fucked you hard and vengefully almost. It felt more like he was fucking you like he hated you, which made it even more delicious. Pure rage and animal instinct to claim and break you down into submission. That’s what it was. He grinned down at you almost as though he was taking absolute pleasure from destroying your insides.
Bakugou moved his mouth to your neck and shoulders, biting and kissing your body as he saw fit. Wanting to make you a masterpiece of his bites. All you could do was allow him to use you. You couldn’t even complain if you wanted. You sounded pornographic, as if you were nothing but a whore to his cocks. Which at this point, wouldn’t be too far from the truth.
He groaned as he fucked up into you harder, increasing speed as he did so. “Fuck! You’re so fucking good for me. Yes, you fucking are. You want me to cum inside you? Make you my little cum filled mate. My little bearer? If we wait a little longer, I’m sure you could give me the best hatchlings, can’t you?” He asked you, hissing his fantasies into your ear. He moaned as he held onto you tighter. “Fuck, fuck, fuck!” With a roar, his body shivered as his cocks spurt hot cum inside you. With a whine of overstimulation as your cunt milked his cocks, he fucked his cum deeper inside you.
He held you tightly, not letting go even after he had finished. His breathing heavy as he kept you resting over his heart. He cupped your head as he made sure you were not going anywhere. Not like you could even move, but it was the thought that counted. Just before you could drift off to sleep, you felt something rubbing the top of your head. You weakly looked up to see Bakugou happily chinning the top of your head and trying to cuddle up to you. He even adorned a small, cute smile on your face, unlike any smile you had seen on his face before.
You smiled. It would all be worth it.
Midoriya jumped off his quadbike. He knew that stepping into the naga’s territory alone was a bad idea without Bakugou’s consent, but he couldn’t care less. It had been ten days since anyone had last seen you and like hell would he believe that you had just gotten lost in the forest, or you were off camping deep in the woods. People were stupid, but you didn’t look that stupid.
The green haired ranger held a scowl on his face as he moved forward towards where he knew the blond hybrid would be. From the tracker he had on Bakugou, he knew that the hybrid was in his cave. Midoriya just hoped that he wouldn’t find you as a corpse. “Y/N!” He shouted as he stepped forward to the opening of the cave, a hand to the side of the cave.
“Hey Deku!” You chirped out as you sat tightly in the coils of the now hostile naga that was glaring daggers at Midoriya. Bakugou’s pupils were thin as he glared at the green haired man. “How are you?” You asked.
Midoriya, glad that you were at least alive, also noticed that you were without clothes, at least not having a top, and your neck and shoulders were covered in bites. “I’m fine.” He called back out to you. “Are you alright?” He asked you.
“Yah!” You nodded your head. “Pretty warm actually, Katsuki just came from his nap.” You told him.
Midoriya nodded, turning his attention to the blond naga. He scowled his green jade eyes locking onto the snake hybrid. “Kacchan.” He let out darkly. “What have I told you about taking people? You can’t do that!” He shouted as he took a step closer making Bakugou hiss, however it didn’t scare Midoriya one bit.
Bakugou moved you further down his tail as he moved forward closer to Midoriya. “Listen here you walking bush.” He pointed a finger at Midoriya. “This is my mate, I am not letting you take them away from me.”
The ranger looked at Bakugou with an annoyed expression. “Kacchan, let me say this to you... I. Do. Not. Care.” He pronounced every word with emphasis. “This person has been missing for days and you’ve been hauling them up here like some prey you caught. Do you want me to get the spray bottle?” He threatened the blond making Bakugou back away with a glare and another hiss. Midoriya put his hand ready to grab the spray bottle of water he had by his waist. “Don’t think I won’t.” He threatened with wide eyes.
“I dare you t- OW!” Katsuki grabbed something that landed on his shoulder blade. He growled as he wrenched it out of his shoulder. He held it in his hand for both men to see. Bakugou’s eyebrows furrowed. It was a tranquilizer dart. Midoriya’s eyes widened at the item in Bakugou’s hands.
“That won’t be necessary, Mr Midoriya.” You stated. Both males turned back to look at you. You stood with your jacket on, covering everything that was necessary. You held a tranquilizer in your hand. You threw it back into your bag, as you slowly moved towards the both of them. You pulled out a walkie talkie from the inner pocket off your jacket. You lifted it to your mouth. “Bring the chopper for relocation. I’ve got the albino naga contortix .” You said into the walkie talkie.
It buzzed. “Stand by Y/N. We’re heading there now.” A voice rang through the walkie talkie.
Bakugou froze as he looked at you confused. “Y-” He felt his body start to go limp as he found it difficult to stay up right. Against his will he started to fall. He barely caught himself with his hands as you walked forward to him.
You shushed him sweetly, bending down to put your hands through his hair. “I’m sorry, sweetie.” You spoke almost condescendingly as you messaged his skelp. You watched his eyes focus and unfocused on you. Trying to keep you in his line of sight. He tried to lift his head closer to you with a small broken expression. He whined, unable to talk to you. You shushed him quietly. “I didn’t mean to hurt you. When you wake up you’ll be in a much better place with me. I promise, my love.” You spoke softly to him. You placed a kiss to his forehead just as he dipped into unconsciousness. You smiled down at Bakugou with a sweet smile. You knew he would be pissed at you for lying to him, but it would be alright in the end. “You can stand down now, Mr Midoriya.” You flicked your eyes back up to him. His face emotionless as he stared back at you. You stood back up and took out an identification card of the Yuuie Hybrid Nature Reserve Group. “We received your message.” You notified him.
“You guys took your damn time.” He finally spoke, putting his hands on his hips. “Do you know how draining it is working undercover as a ranger? Also...” He lifted an eyebrow as his facade of sparkling eyes and broad shining smile left his face. “They sent you?” He asked. “To seduce him? Who even are you?”
You chuckled. “You’d be surprised how easy it is to play dumb and compliant for a male to get enchanted by you.” You glanced back up at him. Midoriya didn’t like the way you were looking up at him so intently, it made him feel almost as if he had been unknowingly played. You shrugged. “Besides, someone has to handle him when he’s back at Yuuie.” You informed the green haired man. You outstretched a hand to him. “Lets try this again. Y/N. Naga expert and hybrid rehabilitator.” You informed him.
Midoriya smirked as he took your hand. “Well, its glad to finally meet you. Glad they finally got someone for the position.” He stated. Midoriya was in a higher position than you in the company, and well renown too. You weren’t the least bit surprised that he was able to stay close to Bakugou as long as he did. “Midoriya Izuku. Hybrid Chief Co-ordinator and orientation master.” He shifted his gaze down to the naga. “What is going to happen now?”
You bent down at the sleeping blond. Bakugou’s face was relaxed and without worry as he was deep in sleep. You made sure to give him a high enough dosage that he would be well asleep. “Now... we take him to his new home.”

Pat's Growth- from troublemaker to walking green flag
Pat Napat Jindapat is by far one of the greenest flags i've ever seen in shows. Especially asian shows with men. But for quite a while i was wondering why Pat's character in the first episode gave very different vibes from the one he turned out to be eventually.
Tumblr media
Of course he liked to help people but Pat in episode 1 is mostly picking fights for no reason and just exuding aggressive {alpha} male-ness (derogatory) and i just couldnt really put a finger on exactly how his transformation happened. How convincing it was that this was the same guy.
Tumblr media
Pat and icy?? I just had to replay that part when i rewatched the episode for the second time cos the pat i loved was the very opposite of icy.
That's when I was reminded of Pat from high school. The younger, happy go lucky version of himself who had few disappointments in life being the spoilt golden son in a clearly patriarchal household. Despite being spoilt though, while he was still mischievous he wasn't really picking fights for no reason. He had left that in his childhood as had Pran.
Tumblr media
High school Pat was thus a glimpse of the man he could turn into, the man he would turn into. That was until Pran moved away and Pat was suddenly all alone. He was still the popular guy, he still had people around, his family was there still hurrahing every small and big victory spoiling him left and right, he didn't have to move away, he no longer had to compare GPA's he was finally at peace, except that the peace came at the price of a loneliness so depressing and soul crushing it literally sucked the very Pat out of Pat.
The loneliness borne out of Pran's absence allowed a multitude of thoughts to fester in his mind. Idle mind is devil's workshop and whatnot. He began to be more man. Be more louder. Be so in your face nobody could ignore his existence. Loud enough that maybe it could drown out the deafening silence of his loneliness. And that's the Pat we meet in episode 1. The one who picks fights for the flimsiest of reasons and just can't control himself in one. And then? And then he sees Pran.
Tumblr media
Memories flood back. Of times gone by. Childhood games and Guitar picks and writing songs.
Except it doesn't. Pat doesn't allow them to come back. There is no instant change in him. He tries to continue his old ways. Tries to fight.
Tries to keep it loud and all man. But alas how longer could he have stalled the change. How longer could he have pushed away the memories. Pran was back. His competing dimpled and fierce buddy-enemy was back. More importantly at that point the Pat who he was when Pran left was steadily knocking at the door to be let out. And Pat could choose to suppress him again. Or he could choose to be him again.
With Pa's advice and fate intervening and putting them in  next door apartments, things begin to change. Pat suddenly finds himself wanting to be around Pran all the time. Trying to make up for all the lost time. For all the loneliness. And that's when we see Pat meeting his younger version.
Tumblr media
A softer, kinder, more safe space puppy human than macho fighter.
Tumblr media
Still Pat, but a better one. One who looked for solutions than to create problems. One who wanted to be friends more than fight. The one who wanted to and now once again suddenly got to be around Pran.
And so he does. He sheds his macho skin like that, he becomes the Pat that Pran fell in love with in the first place.
Tumblr media
He becomes the Pat that Pran continues to fall deeper in love with.
Tumblr media
He becomes the Pat that sacrifices his win for his boyfriend, sacrifices his need to be loud if that's what Pran wanted, the one that is lifted up by a simple phone call or the smallest note, the one who still fights but apologizes soon after.
Tumblr media
The one who wakes up early to make breakfast for his boyfriend, the one who reaches inexplicable levels of happiness just by sniffing a shirt.
Tumblr media
The one that ends up on that rooftop with Pran. Not the iconic rooftop kiss one. Of course that. But eventually the one on the house they will end up sharing together.
Tumblr media
And thats how i believe Pat became the Pat we loved in episode 12. He was always in him. And when he longer suppressed that part of him, when Pran's return heralded his own revival, that was when that Pat could come out and breathe the fresh air and become the person he was always meant to be. The one with whom just being in his presence makes Pran feel like freedom was his. The one who both Pran and all of us fell in love with.
Tumblr media
I made a much longer version of this but for Pran, do check it out if you'd like here

hidden - huh yunjin x femreader
genre: angst, hurt/comfort
warnings: overworking, fainting spells
(requested by anon)
____________________________________________
you gripped the edge of the dressing table, fighting to conceal your weakness. you felt your energy had dimmed, eclipsed by an unseen force. though it was obvious what the reason truly was. you felt u couldn’t keep up the character any longer.
your asian tour was coming to an end and frankly you and all your members were exhausted. as fun as the fan interactions and concerts were, you felt burnt out and overworked.
although your energy was slowly fading and work became more mundane over the tour, it was your determination to be meticulous in the way you performed in-front of fans that had paid a value to see lesserafim on stage.
it going to be okay; the last song for the night.
as you made your way down the staircase and towards the backstage rooms you felt proud of the effort you had put in the performance. despite how your muscles began the ache and the vibrations from your singing voice had begun to serrate the inside of your throat and vocal cords, you thought you did pretty well on your behalf.
amongst the cacophony of your members cheering for the ending of your tour and staff running around in distress, an unexpected wave of distortion hit you, it’s grasp tightening with each passing second. the loud noise made your head buzz, as the room around you began to sway and malform, all while you attempted to stay steadied to your feet. panic surged through your body as you realised you body was no longer under your own control.
reality had turned into a blurred haze and the sounds of everyone bustling around began to subside. you could still feel your heart pounding erratically against your chest, and your body trembling.
by the next second you had lost consciousness.
amidst all the cheering and chaos, yunjin noticed your complexion turn to ash. watching as your panicked body lost against the battle of gravity. you collapsed to the ground, limbs giving away beneath you.
yunjin screamed, running down beside you and clutching your limp body, tears welling in her eyes. the other members were quick to notice the scream and rushed down to you, yelling at staff members for assistance .
you stayed still, breathing shallow and unsteady. beads of sweat surround your head, much like the now crowd that enveloped you and your members. whilst in shudders of shock, yunjin manages to grab a handkerchief, gently dabbing away at the perspiration on your head.
after a chaotic tour end, you had all returned to your hotel. you had a medical team on standby at the concert, who ensured you were physically stable and would just require some food and a good rest.
yunjin was known for her sharp intuition, and noticed the cracks in your facade much earlier on; the skipped meals, the sleepless nights and quieter, more introverted demeanour. it made it easy for her to direct most of her attention towards you, due to her growing affiliation towards her member. then again it was difficult to approach you about it, since yunjin believed it would break a barrier she was trying to create. though she was unable to bear the silence for any longer; the reasoning for her confrontation.
you heard a soft knock at your door, walking over you peep through the small hole to see a 0.5x perspective of yunjin. laughing; you open the door to see a serious-faced yunjin. the room was now in stillness as she looked at you, eyes burning with a mixture of anger and concern. her voice trembled with suppressed emotion, word laced with disappointment.
“yn, this has gone too far,” yunjin said, “i’m worried about you, you can’t keep hiding things from us. i’m not oblivious to it.”
your heart drops from realisation, you’d been caught.
“w-what? what do you mean, yunjin?”
“don’t act all dumb! if it hasn’t come to your mind i’ve noticed your eating; you basically aren’t, and i can hear you awake at night; late, at night.” she spills, tears threatening to spill, “you’re quiet, you’re not yourself and i miss you.”
yunjin recoiled from the last statement, her eyes widening in guilt. she couldn’t be too obvious.
you gave up on your side, letting the wall that had been standing for weeks fall to your feet.
“i didn’t want to burden you all. I can handle it myself, it’s okay, i don’t want so many people to be concerned for me.” you said, your hands trembled at the possibility yunjin was blatantly angry at you.
“handle it on your own? yn, we are here for you! we’re not just teammates, or colleagues, we’re a family, a support system, right? you don’t have to face your struggles in solitude.” yunjin voice grow louder and somewhat desperate, you could see the frustration bubbling to her face.
tears were now falling down your cheeks, your voice filled with regret and self-blame.
“i didn’t want to disappoint anyone. i didn’t want to be seen as weak. i thought could manage, push through, it’s too much.” you said, struggling to form the words from the interruption of hiccups.
yunjin’s angered complexion softened as she glimpses at your vulnerability. she approached you, now gentle and soft-spoken.
“yn, no one is disappointed in you. we’re worried about you. especially after what happened today.” she continued, “we care about you. keeping this hidden not only hurts you but us too. we want you to be okay. i need you to trust me, yn.”
“i’m sorry,” you said shoulders slumped, voice spilling with remorse and longing for forgiveness.
yunjin reached out, sliding a hand behind your back and pulling you into a warm embrace.
“i’m here for you, we’ll get through this together,” she whispered, giving you a peck on the forehead, “i love you.”
you pull away in shock, face flustered from the intimidate contact.
“what?” you squeal.
yunjin clasps her hand to face, eyes wide from letting her only well-kept secret collapse - in front of the girl it was about.

no bc. like. the eighth sense is getting EVERYTHING right.
it's compelling. like. you feel like you KNOW where the storyline is going, what's going to happen next, and then BHAM! NO! something entirely different happens. its never boring. and it makes the wait for the next episode jittery and anxious and it leaves you on tenterhooks BUT THAT'S THE POINT! its meant to leave you guessing. its got this "impending sense of doom" vibe to it that i referred to in a previous post, but that describes the current vibe of jaewon and jihyun's relationship and the atmosphere surrounding it: its thrilling.
characters can breathe!!! and we can breathe with them! jaewon and jihyun are allowed to have scenes where its just them alone, immersed in a hobby that THEY like, and you're there with them! they get to have scenes with so many other people that aren't just with each other. they get to form real relationships with their boss, their therapist, their new and old friends. and each relationship and dynamic brings something new, each dynamic formed between jaewon or jihyun and the people around them is made to allow a certain type of conversation to be had for jaewon and jihyun that they can't really have with someone who isn't that character, for example jihyun can only really openly speak to his boss in the same way jaewon can to yoonwon or his therapist. jihyun can't talk in that same manner to anyone else, nor can jaewon. at the same time, it also soooo BEAUTIFULLY illustrates how performative we can become in certain relationships and situations and around certain people, and how unhealthy and detrimental that can be for us - look at jaewon and taehyung, who are meant to be best friends, but are anything but it.
its such a QUEER show. it takes the small little scenes you'd normally see in a white western heterosexual movie, like the two love interests linking their pinky fingers together to then clasping each other's hands and smiling shyly to the side, to sitting opposite one another on a train and just gazing and gazing and gazing at one another, to calling a taxi after your not-a-date-but-its-so-a-date to go home in and the taxi is literally stood right there waiting but you can't let each other go ..... its taken all those cliche scenes and made them feel so ... new and fresh and vibrant and so so QUEER and any queer person watching the show FEELS those butterflies in their stomach.
oh to see a main character who is asian and queer actually GO TO therapy, and imply that jaewon has been going for 10 whole years to therapy. to have his mental illness be given a name (depression!), to have him talk about his issues so openly!!, to discuss what the struggles of being in your mid-twenties feel like!! to see him talk about how burdensome he finds it being "nice" to everyone and wearing a mask all the time and ultimately his therapist telling him straight that, "in fact, in life, you don't need to be loved by everyone." or when jihyun's boss stood up for him and fought eunji over how she treated him bc she KNOWS jihyun would never bc he isnt a confrontational person, but jihyun's boss did not stand for it, and how she continues to just give him the correct life advice as and when he needs it.
the romance. the chemistry. the way jaewon and jihyun pull you into their bubble. the way you feel the excitement and joy and apprehension and tension and heartache and disappointment between the two of them. YOU feel it. and thats all down to the way the show has been shot and the muuuuusic (oh my god the muuuuusic) and the way the camera is used. it makes it feel personal. in first person. not you watching them, but rather, you BEING them. the way you can FEEL how nervous and anxious jihyun gets when he is in ANY kind of social situation. how you can FEEL the quiet anger and the exhaustion from being so performative and the lack of patience in jaewon like a ticking timebomb when he's around taehyung. you do, you just FEEL it.
anyway. the eighth sense might just be (who am i kidding, it already is) on its way to claim the title for the best bl of 2023, and its only april.

i'd really like to see someone do a full writeup on the sheer glut of specifically "black genre art" amongst generative image spammers. it's at the point where if i see something tagged with any iteration of the word "melanin" i'm automatically hunting for generative artifacts and usually end up being disappointed and right.
i think at least part of it has to do with the prompts that are used; just due to the general disparities in representation in art, the pool of art on which black characters can be trained is a lot smaller and often made by black creators themselves. the ai datasets all think "woman" means the same nebulously asian woman with porcelain skin and huge tits, which means that if they want to specifically generate a "black woman" they have to do a lot more inputs with a lot more specific references to the artists they are trying to mimic.
this means that if someone wants to portray a black character with AI, most of the data they are using is from a genre of art that specifically celebrates blackness ("black girl magic", african themes/patterns, lots of yellow, big natural hairstyles, etc.), so anything generated also has that same unrepentant theme to it, just without any of the actual pride and joy that would have gone into an original work, defeating the purpose and saying literally nothing.
the prevalence of this stuff is just kind of overwhelming, though. it somehow feels more predatory than your usual ai stuff.
that person on the radar is a pretty peak example of it. you can see the ghost of a signature on this one... i wonder from whom they stole.

Constructive criticism: Raya and Wish (2023)
Ah yes, Raya and the last Dragon and Wish... and a bonus
Raya and the last Dragon
Taking place in the fictional country of Kumandra, based on Southeast Asian culture, the movie follows the warrior princess Raya as she seek the fabled last dragon to save her father and the land of Kumandra from evil spirits that are known as Druun.
Critics gave the film positive reviews; some critics praised the imagery and depth but criticized the limited Southeast Asian representation.
The movie is very good on a technical level, Visually impressive, fun characters and the story is good... until the third act.
It`s message doesn`t really fit into it`s narrative. It tries to fit a square shaped peg into a round hole.
If I could wish upon a star that I could travel back in time and do some changes to the script I would like to make one small change.
Namaari giving her "This is just as much your fault" speech and Raya acting as if she`s right
The biggest downside in this scene is Raya`s reaction to what Namaari says, looking at her own reflection in her sword as if to say: "My god, what have I become?"
How I would do it: Raya and Namaari fight. Raya gets the upperhand, disarms Namaari and is about to strike the final blow... but then she looks at what`s happening around them, the city is falling apart, killing Namaari is not gonna solve this. She drops her sword.
Raya: "My original plan was to steal the gem. It was Sisu who convinced me to talk to you. She believed in you. And for a moment... so did I."
Then she leaves to save what still can be saved of the people of Fang.
Namaari looks at her own reflection in one of her twin swords and has a "My god, what have I become?" moment.
I guess I could stop here, but I want to change one more scene.
Raya giving her gem piece to Namaari
In the scene where they are all in the pit trying to fight the druuns with their gem pieces and Raya realizes that they have to put the pieces together, it would be better if Namaari gave her piece to Raya before she gives her piece to Namaari.
Namaari would then step backwards and let the Druun take her. The others would then give their pieces to Raya, stand next to Namaari and be turned to stone. Raya tries to put the gem back together, nothing happens, she places herself between Namaari and the others (Tong, Boun, Little Noi and the Ongis), puts a hand on Tong`s arm and a hand on Namaari`s shoulder as if to form a bridge between the two. (Symbolism!)
Then the dragongem starts working, everyone gets unstoned, the dragons return, Kumandra is united and everyone`s happy.
The end.
Yes, I know. Raya needed to learn how to trust, but Namaari needed to show that she could be trusted.
Wish (2023)
Disney (the company that owns your childhood) was turning 100 years old and decided to give itself a big pat on the back by making an animated movie that would celebrate it`s legacy.
The film received mixed reviews, with praise directed towards the vocal performances, the animation and references to the wider Disney canon, but criticism levelled at the plotting, songs, and screenplay.
People were disappointed in Wish because it was supposed to be a milestone, the movie made to celebrate that the Disney animation studio has been around for 100 years! It just couldn`t live up to the hype. But if you take all the hype and great expectations out of the equation and just view it, not as this BIG thing it was intended to be, but just, as the movie it is, it`s... just OK.
Later when the art book of the movie came out and people saw what could have been, many youtubers decided to do what I have been doing since 2015, and do a little constructive criticism of their own. With so many rewrites of Wish popping up on the internet and my history of playing script doctor, it only seems logical that I too throw my hat in the ring and submit my own Wish rewrite.
So... if I had a fairy godmother who could Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo me back in time to when this movie was written, this is what I would change.
People willingly giving their wishes to Magnifico
It would have been better if Magnifico took peoples wishes from them without their knowledge. It would have made him a better villain. He could take peoples wishes when they are asleep.
Asha
I`d dial down her quirkiness a little. Personalitywise she could be an ambitious overachiever, kinda like Hermoine, with an adorkable side.
Valentino
Does everything he says have to be something comical? I like jokes but not all of them landed. It was like his funniness was mandated. Dial down the number of jokes.
Some of the songs
It`s not that the songs are bad per se, some of them just don`t fit into the scenes where they are used, like "At all cost".
They should either have :
A: Given Julia Michaels more time and let her be more involved in the production. (Howard Ashman was very involved in the making of The Little Mermaid.)
or
B: Hired people experienced in musicals. Maybe the people who wrote the songs for Wicked, Hadestown or Hazbin Hotel?
Magnifico needing a book to be evil
The biggest problem this movie has is that it couldn`t decide if Magnifico should be a redeemable, three dimensional antagonist or a classic Disney Villain, so it did both and the results were underwhelming.
I would have made him a twist villain, but instead of waiting for the third act I would reveal it near the end of the first. He would be a charismatic leader, great at fooling people that he has their best interests at heart, who`s paranoia gets the better of him.
To Starboy or not to Starboy, that is the question.
At first I wasn`t gonna bother with the whole Starboy thing since it`s not really an issue. The movie`s biggest problem lies in how they wrote King Magnifico. However, a while ago I saw a video on youtube by ColeyDoesThings who talked about what the movie could have been if they had gone the Starboy route, and she made some compelling arguments. So for this rewrite I`ve decided to go with the Starboy idea.
Starboy`s personality could be a lot like Aladdin, a little bit like Peter Pan with a pinch of Flynn Rider. A bit of a contrast to Asha. I did not change change Star becase I thought it was necessary, but because I thought it sounded interesting.
I would also make Hal and Bazeema gay and have them kiss eachother in the end.
Plot
Asha prepares to interview for the job of Magnifico's apprentice on the day of her grandfather Sabino's 100th birthday.
When Asha is around, her mother and Saba put on a happy face for her, when she leaves they become a bit apathetic. This is something that many people in Rosas over the age of 18 (who have had their wishes taken) do.
She leads tourists through the town as she sings about what an amazing place it is and what an awesome king they have in "Welcome to Rosas". She rehearses for her job interview with her friends,
There are three wishes that the king refuses to grant:
Wishes about killing people.
Wishes about making someone fall in in love with someone else.
Wishes about bringing people back from the dead.
If you wish to become a magician you`ll have to become the king`s apprentice (and you don`t have to be 18.)
Queen Amaya shows up and takes her to Magnifico. At first it goes a little shaky because she`s nervous but then it goes well and Magnifico thinks she is worthy to be his apprentice.
They sing a duet, but not "At all cost". It is a song about optimism and ambition, about what a great student/mentor team they`ll make. The chorus could go:
Magnifico: "With you as my student!"
Asha: "With you as my guide!"
Both: "Great things will happen with you by my side!"
Something like that.
The interview is over and Asha leaves Magnifico`s study.
She is excited. She gets to work with the king! The most awesome king in the world! She does a dorky little victory dance. Valentino shows up, he snuck into the castle with her. Asha starts chasing him, she doesn`t want him to break something expensive, she really wants this job!
Valentino sneaks in through a door to a big (and probably forbidden) room and knocks down an ancient scroll. Asha picks up the scroll to put it back where it was, then she notices the title: How to remove someone`s wish.
Remove? The king grants wishes, he doesn`t take them!
She tries to convince herself not to read it, it`s not meant for her eyes, it`s classified, but her curiosity gets the better of her. She reads in the scroll that the spell should not be used on people under the age of 18. The individual who has had their wish removed becomes docile and free of aspirations, and in some rare cases, even lethargic (just like Simon). They will feel like something is missing from their life but are not able to put their finger on what.
She refuses to believe this. This can`t be true! Magnifico wouldn`t do something like this! He`s a good king!... Right? There are magical orbs of light floating in the ceiling, she takes a ladder and climbs up so that she can get a better look at them. One of the orbs shows a woman that wishes she could fly, another a woman who wishes to sail the seas, another a man who wishes to climb a muntain, and one of the orbs shows... her Saba! It is true, the king takes peoples wishes from them!
She climbs down, puts the scroll back and leaves the room quietly with Valentino under her arm.
She`s about to leave the castle through the main gate when Magnifico shows up. He tells her that there will be a wish-granting ceremony later that evening and he wants her to be present. Asha is nervous, but not a "OMG! I`m meeting my hero!" kind of nervous, but a "Hope he doesn`t figure out that I went into a forbidden room and saw things I shouldn`t have seen" kind of nervous. He seems not to notice, but at soon as Asha leaves the room we see that he did.
Later that evening there`s a wish-granting ceremony, a woman gets her wish granted, the people cheer for Magnifico and Asha sits there next to the queen, stiff and nervous.
Later that night: Asha tries to tell her family the truth about Magnifico, but they don`t believe her. Distraught, Asha runs away and makes her own wish on a star as she sings "This wish". (Not a bad song, but it could have used better lyrics in some places.)
Starboy appears and surprises Asha who smacks him with a branch. (Meet-cute!)
Magnifico senses Starboy's arrival and sees it as a threat to his power.
Starboy doesn`t really grant wishes per se. He`s only as helpful as giving the means, but it’s up to the wishmaker to put the work in order to have their wish fulfilled.
Starboy's magic brings the forest to life, giving voices to the animals, plants and Valentino. They sing "I`m a star", but with better lyrics. (No "we're all shareholders" or "Get that through your system. Solar!") Asha, Valentino, and Starboy embark on a mission to recover Sabino's wish. She wants to save all the wishes, but if she can only save one she`ll have to focus on Sabino`s.
Tension rises in Rosas, Magnifico makes a public appearence and promises a great reward for any information relating to the strange light phenomenon. This makes Simon react. The residents of Rosas begin questioning his rule for the first time. Magnifico gets uncomfortable, leaves and sings "This is the thanks I get" (But sinister, not upbeat, and no "I let you live here fo free and I don't even charge you rent").
Asha returns Sabino's wish and he is overjoyed to have his memories back and sings "A wish worth making", playing his lute. King Magnifico bursts into the family's home, having been informed by a mole that Asha was responsible for Starboy's arrival. He crushes her mother Sakina's wish as punishment, rendering her overcome with grief. Starboy tries to defend her and is spotted by Magnifico, who vows to capture him. Asha and her family flee with Starboy. Sakina can barely stand after what Magnifico did to her wish, so Starboy uses his magic to give her the strength to walk. Sabino and Sakima hide somewhere safe while Asha goes back to Rosas to free the other wishes.
Magnifico turns Simon into a knight, not in a public wish-granting ceremony though, but in his study.
Later, a brainwashed Simon is walking the streets with the company of other knights, searching for Asha and the rest of her friends. Asha sees him and looks for a place to hide. She finds her friends` hideout, not because of Valentino`s butt, but because of his sense of smell. She rallies the rest of her friends, Queen Amaya shows up and joins them.
Asha and her friends start making a plan.
Meanwhile: King Magnifico has made a staff, Amaya shows up and tells him what Asha and her friends are planning.
Gasp! Queen Amaya is a villain! (Dun dun dunn!)
She and Magnifico sing an evil duet villain song which is kinda similar to "With you by my side".
Asha`s friends infiltrate Magnifico's study to open up the ceiling and free the wishes while Asha plans to distract Magnifico. She and Starboy hides in the woods, she is nervous, Starboy tries to comfort her, so they talk a little. The talking leads to feelings being revealed which leads to singing. They sing "At all costs" and dance a romantic dance, first on the surface of a lake, then high up in the sky. (Thanks to Starboy`s magic.) Starboy gives Asha a magic wand to use as he leaves to help her friends, he then notices that he is getting weaker. Magnifico arrives, he and Asha fights. Magnifico turns out to be Simon disguised with an illusion and he breaks Asha`s wand, Asha finds a way to knock him out using the environment to her advantage.
Her friends almost free the wishes but are betrayed by Queen Amaya. Starboy tries to stop her but she pulls out a dagger and threatens to kill one of Asha`s friends, Magnifico shows up and zaps him with magical chains that he can`t break free from.
Asha returns to the city, is caught by Magnifico, finds Starboy in magical chains and finds out that Queen Amaya was just a mole. Magnifico darkens the sky with clouds so that the people won`t be able to wish on stars.
Asha (to Magnifico): "I believed in you! I thought you were a good king!"
Magnifico: "I`m not a good king. I`m a GREAT king!"
All hope seems lost, Asha starts to sing the reprise to "This wish", her friends and the people of Rosas join her and their singing makes Starboy strong enough to break free from his chains. The breaking of the chains creates a shockwave that knocks Asha, Amaya and Magnifico off the tower. Starboy, still weakened, only has enough strength to save one of them, so he saves Asha.
With Magnifico defeated, his spell powers down as a new day dawns over the kingdom, with the citizens, Asha's mother included, are able to get their wishes back, afterwards, Asha is soon confronted by a regretful Simon, who understands if she doesn`t want to forgive him, but she does as she understands why he did it.
Starboy keeps getting weaker and has to go back, he gives Asha a new wand and the two of them say good bye. She wonders if she`ll ever see him again, he tells her that he`ll be the second star to the right.
With urging from her loved friends, Asha promises to help others earn their wishes as a Fairy Godmother, aiding everyone in making their dreams come true.
Post-credit scene: One year later: Asha is walking to the wishing tree in her fairy godmother outfit. She walks past a grave stone. Sabino is sitting in the tree playing "When you wish upon a star" on his lute. A tear rolls down Asha`s cheek. After Sabino has played the song he disappears as if he was a ghost. We see that the grave stone that Asha walked past earlier was Sabino`s. She wipes away her tear, looks up at the second star to the right, takes out her wand and teleports to some place where she might be needed.
And that`s how I would do it. Not great but hopefully not bad.
I cut "Knowing what I know now" because it was getting a little tight between songs. It would be hard to fit that song, Magnifico and Amaya`s villain song and "At all costs" so close to each other, while still maintaining a good narrative flow.
At first I wasn`t gonna turn Queen Amaya evil because I couldn`t come up with enough evil stuff for her to do (that I could fit into the plot without making it worse). But then I made her a villain because it would make things harder for Asha and her friends, which would make the movie more interesting.
But like I said before, the movie`s biggest problem is not that the Queen wasn`t evil, but that the writers couldn`t pick a lane when deciding if they wanted to make Magnifico a three-dimensional antagonist or a classic Disney Villain.
And now... a Bonus
One more thing about Frozen 2
Turning Kristoff`s Lost in the woods into a cheesy 1980s rock ballad musicvideo
I was gonna have this in my Frozen 2 CC but forgot and didn`t remember until after I published it. Since I don`t wanna go back and edit it I`ll write it here.
This scene is admittedly entertaining and if you don`t care about tone as long as it`s entertaining it`s fine.
But funny songs works better for funny characters and what Kristoff is singing about feels sincere, which clashes with how the song is executed.
The 1980s rock sound: Lose it.
The visuals: Have Kristoff walking around in the woods, seeing things that, to him, looks like Anna: a pile of rocks, a pile of leaves, a cloud in the sky. Stuff like that.
Probably an unpopular opinion.
It is of course very easy for me to write these because I have the luxury of hindsight. And unlike the filmmakers I didn`t have a movie studio full of corporate suits breathing down my neck, focus grouping the movie to death, forcing in unnecessary changes and pressuring me to get it made before a deadline.
Why do I write these?
For several reasons. I`m nitpicky. Sometimes the movies I criticize aren`t bad, I just like my own ideas better. Sometimes the movies I critize are bad. I care about good storytelling and it`s a fun excerize in creativity and script doctoring.
But also because I have a lot of of free time.
---------------------------------------------
Other movies on my Constructive Criticism list that you can look forward to
Supergirl (1984) Jonah Hex (2010) Dragonball evolution The Spirit (2008) The Dark Knight trilogy
And as usual: English is not my first language, so if my writing doesn`t seem to flow naturally, you know why.

I know, I know- I went right for the jugular with that title. at first glance, this might look like a KinnPorsche finale hit piece...an "oh, y'all thought this was a HEA?" before I throw a bucket of gore all over your warm fuzzies, Carrie-style.
in reality? this is a long-form love letter to perhaps the most meticulously-constructed show I've seen in years- Asian, Western, European, etc., et. al. period, fin, full stop.
if there's an idea that KinnPorsche has driven home over and over again, it's that more than one thing can be true at once. that idea has never been more overt than in the finale.
something can be immensely satisfying, hella romantic, quietly appalling, empowering, and like a waking nightmare- all at once. for me, the finale was every one of these things- just maybe not for the reasons you'd expect. in summary: have a little faith before reaching for the pitchforks (thanks in advance).
but first: a little history, a little fandom
some background before we jump into the, as @dancinbutterfly likes to say, "it's about the DRAMATURGY"- of it all. I've been going into every piece of media for years now with as close to the inverse of expectations as you can get, because she has been burned and then some. I've been in fandom of all sorts for many, many moons. perpetual disappointment followed by headcannoning fixes are old friends, and I know them well.
I dumbed this show down before it even began, at no fault of the story or crew or anything else. eliminating my expectations before the word 'go' is just something that happens automatically. if you had told me pre-KP that a quasi-porn-with-feels, Thai-BL-meets-the-mafia show would shock me out of my media coma, I would've just giggled and said "sure, Jan".
that's exactly what happened, though: week after week, this show gave and gave and gave some more. unapologetic queer horniness on full display? here; take it. you want a light, joyful relationship in contrast to perhaps the most intoxicatingly-toxic one you've ever seen? sure, we got that too. how about fascinating moral quandaries and a dark, twisty thread of mystery running throughout? we got you covered and then some.
and oof, that mystery. the possibilities, the implications? the personal ramifications for these characters we were falling in love with? crumbs were suddenly being dropped from a table I forgot could have so much food on it, and I grabbed onto as many morsels as I could get my greedy little hands on.
we all did: the sheer amount of god-tier analysis and meta this fandom created is a testament to that. this show awoke something in our brains that made the collective talent shine brighter than I've seen in a fandom in a long while (Bad Buddy is a close second).
and then- the Finale™
but the real pièce de résistance here: the part of this horny, batshit beauty of a story that puts this show front and center in my mental hall of fame? that finale. pardon the crassness, but it's very much warranted here: that FUCKING FINALE. it was more than the sum of its parts, while simultaneously being the EXACT sum in a whispering, "are-you-paying-attention?" kind of way.
it confirmed little red flags I didn't even trust I was really seeing, which, sure- that's just good writing, solid storytelling. but then it said "nah- we're not done", and stuck the landing so intelligently, it elevated the rest of the story past my wildest expectations. thanks to the finale, I know that my rewatches (yeah, it'll be plural- move along) will be a perpetual mind-fuck affectionate.
it set up us for a likely-explosive second season, with as much potential for greatness as there is for Shakespearean levels of tragedy. without that 81-minute magnum opus, I doubt I would’ve been compelled to write this monster in the first place.
so let's get into the impact of the finale by taking a closer look at the most important players- starting with our sex-on-a-stick (I had to), second-in-command himself.
without further ado: you ready for a deep dive?

kiss me so that I forget myself. I close my eyes & fall in the abyss. -Kamand Kojouri
the title for this meta- Tragedy Dressed Like a Daydream- was inspired by Porsche's iconic walk down the hallway, cementing his new status as he symbolically ascends his throne.
my first thought during this scene- besides the obvious serve-CUNT-king- was, "that's a man who's walking to the gallows- he just doesn't know it yet."
Porsche also embodied raw, effortless power in this moment- but it carried even more weight than just that. this was an easy, almost-royal kind of stride- like he was born to it.
from Porsche's unforgettable presentation to the visual callbacks (more on that in a minute), this is the definition of a full circle moment. it felt less like the victorious kind and more of the snake-eating-its-tail variety, though. again, more on that analogy later.
my doom-and-gloom reaction to this scene has nothing to do with the fact that Porsche is not only staying in the Family, but rising to the top of its ranks. this is a mafia tale: I signed up for bullets, bloodshed, moral ambiguity and as much be-gay-do-more-crime as possible.
once I started to drill down into what exactly about this moment made me feel so unsettled, the reasons turned out to be much more nuanced.
a couple interesting details about this scene before we get into the nitty-gritty: we've seen this kind of oozes-power walk before. it's what I opened my Kinn character analysis with:
Kinn carries himself with the relaxed ease of an heir born to inherit a throne, and the singular, brutal focus required to keep it.
Tumblr media
this is how Kinn walks into every room he enters- when anyone besides the people he's closest to are present, anyway.
there's so much I want to say here about the choice to film Kinn from behind versus Porsche head-on, the framing, etc., but I promised myself I wouldn't get too far into the weeds in this meta.
one more tidbit I noticed in this scene: Porsche never blinks- not once. a neat little trick I learned in Psych 101: blinking less communicates ease, confidence, lack of anxiety; while frequent blinking says "I'm afraid/nervous/lying." if you want someone to see you as more confident than you might feel, look them straight in the eye- or straight ahead and past them, like Porsche is here- and blink less. I doubt this was intentional, but it adds (subconsciously) to the powerful aura radiating off of Porsche.
Tumblr media
when you know what a man wants, you know who he is- and how to move him. -George R.R. Martin
belief can be manipulated. only knowledge is dangerous. -Frank Herbert
the triumphant veneer on Porsche's ascension starts to crack as soon as we ask, "how did he get here?" the answer- the rot at the root, discreetly leeching off all the life it touches- is Korn.
we're well-aware that Korn is a master manipulator. he knows his sons' strengths and weaknesses like the back of his hand.
what really makes Korn a force to be reckoned with is his patience. he's been using his knowledge of how to utilize his sons- like the tools I believe he sees them to be- for a very, very long time.
it took years-worth of quiet, methodical consistency to orchestrate the events we arrive to in the finale- and to best mold his sons to carry out his purposes. we've also been getting hints at this the entire time- some of which weren't made clear until the very last moments of the finale.
galaxy-brained @dancinbutterfly caught a god-tier hint at just how deep Korn's machinations go, and it happened in episode ONE- yet it's impact in the finale is enormous. if you aren't convinced that Korn has been planning on using Porsche from the start, you're gonna want to hold DB's/my beer for this one. I'm going to be giving the CliffNotes version, but you can read DB's epic finale analysis here.
the last scene in the finale- with Kinn and Porsche declaring their commitment to each other on the boat- is a callback to episode 1 already, bringing us back to where Porsche jumped off the deck. after Porsche escaped, we cut to Kinn and Korn in conversation. I'll quote DB directly here:
Kinn is asked why he didn't procure Porsche- and we see Korn playing chess. he's playing as white, and white always goes first. Korn always has the information needed to make the first move. he takes the queen [Porsche]- and he uses it to get checkmate.
back to the finale: right after Kinn and Porsche's final hug on the boat, we cut over to Korn. he's sitting at a desk with two betta fish in front of him (my theory on that in a minute). Korn stops to look at his phone, smiling at the picture of Kinn and Porsche that Tankhun just sent him.
Korn's expression is that of a warm, loving father, by all appearances happy to see his son happy- but it kind of just made my stomach roll. and then, we reach the line that takes us all the way back to Korn's first game of chess, right after the other boat scene when he won the game using the queen:
"history is only written by the victors."
not to lapse into tag speak in the middle of a semi-serious meta, but are you crying screaming throwing up yet? someone throw me a thesaurus because "chilling" doesn't cover the level of twisted we're witnessing here. the juxtaposition of these scenes in particular casts such a deep shadow over Kinn and Porsche's happy-for-now ending, it's impossible to ignore (again, all credit to DB for catching it).
Korn didn't just make Porsche's sudden meteoric rise happen- he orchestrated it all. this hint was just a standout one of many. I don't think Korn ever expected Kinn and Porsche to get romantically involved, but did he ever switch gears masterfully when they did.
there isn't a single event in the course of Kinn and Porsche's story that Korn didn't either 1) make happen himself or 2) expertly adapt and work to his advantage.
riddle me this: what could be better for Korn than having his ever-loyal but soft-at-heart son on the throne? let's dream even bigger: how about having his son's heart as his second? as smart as Porsche is, this isn't a world he's known for long- at all.
Porsche doesn't fully understand the rules or know the players- and he certainly doesn't have the benefit of experience required to see the bigger picture. Kinn's biggest weakness is now right out in the open, ready for Korn to exploit when and if needed.
for a man like Korn, what could be better than that?
Tumblr media
back to the fish, and what could be our last hint the finale at Korn's next move. betta fish- or fighting fish- are known for their aggression towards other bettas. Korn has the fish in two bowls, separate but still in each other's line of vision- and able to antagonize the other.
before he looks at his phone, Korn is tapping on just one of the bowls, almost like he's deliberately trying to rile the fish up. he's also watching them very intently- and Korn is the most intentional character in this show.
the meaning here is wide open to interpretation, but this moment doesn't feel accidental- next to nothing in this show is. I don't see how pitting Kinn and Porsche against each other at this stage in the game would work to Korn's benefit- they're the most obvious explanation- but I'm calling it now: there's something there, and I have a nasty feeling that it's important.
so- Korn is pulling all the strings. Kinn and Porsche are in power in name only. they’re simply pieces on the gameboard and they always will be, as long as Korn is alive. they’re only there because Korn wants them to be.
Porsche and Porchay were only reunited with their mother because Korn made it so. I could write pages of meta on those scenes alone- the combination of intelligence and fear in her eyes, her catatonic-seeming (but were they really?) reactions, ad nauseum.
Tumblr media
I'm not going to delve too deeply into the Namphueng plot here, but I have to mention that something about her reveal feels reactionary. the timing and suddenness of it feels more akin to thinking on your feet than it does to a long-game strategy. there has to be so much more happening here than we're aware of yet.
the main evidence of this for me: Korn left Namphueng essentially locked up in a tower for years. Korn is nothing if not brutally efficient. he could've used her just like he uses everyone else right out in the open. it would have been a million times more practical for him to go that route, but he didn't. that choice says something.
I don't know if I can buy into the idea that his only reason for pulling off this years-long kidnapping-in-plain-sight was just to time her reappearance in order to control Porsche (and Kinn by extension). we're missing a puzzle piece here- really, I feel like it's a lot of them.
which leads us to the million dollar question: what the hell does Korn know? how far down the rabbit hole does the history- and crimes- of this family go? Korn methodically knocked so many threatening pieces off the board, there's now history that ONLY KORN is privy to. let that sink in for a minute. if knowledge is power, Korn's is now near absolute.
Korn's inescapable influence takes what otherwise looks like a beautiful triumph- Kinn and Porsche, united, back where they started- and makes it look more like walking into an abyss.
when and if we get S2, I can guarantee that none of us are prepared for whatever Korn is planning next. like I mentioned in the beginning, the potential fallout for our players left on the gameboard is, in a word- catastrophic.
I'll wrap up this section with a chef's kiss quote from my beloved @elnotwoods:
I got so blinded by the metaphor and the symbolism [playing chess] that I overlooked the fact that the pieces on a chessboard only ever do what the player wants, because there are different ways to play, different moves and strategies- but it’s ultimately up to the person moving the pieces to decide.
Tumblr media
so the story of man runs in a dreary circle, because he is not yet master of the earth that holds him. -Will Durant
there's also the issue of who Porsche is, and the question of if he did possess full autonomy here- i.e. if Korn wasn't making his moves for him from the shadows- would this be the choice he'd make? does it align with who he is- or, at least, with who he used to be?
because no one- outside of the people in the Family itself- have been more directly affected by the brutality that comes with the criminal underworld than Porsche and Porchay.
their parents: slaughtered in their home. debtors harassed and threatened them both for years, to the point that Porsche went to beg for mercy on his uncle's behalf. they had to feel like they were living in a semi-constant state of fear- likely with plenty of righteous anger and resentment mixed in, too.
so rather than just a cycle that repeats, we have a true tragedy here in the form of the metaphorical snake eating its tail. the Kittisawasd brothers' lives, loves, even their life's purpose (for Porsche, at least) are now inextricably linked to the cause of the greatest trauma they ever experienced. they're not just a part of the Family now- they sit its throne, either directly or by association.
love- especially the new, fresh, starry-eyed kind of love- has a way of blinding you. of bending you in ways you never thought you would, without either lashing out or getting out first.
is Porsche capable of thriving in this world? absolutely. will it require depths of compromise he can't even fathom yet? undoubtedly yes.
I also don't believe Porsche would have put Porchay within 1000 miles of everything Kinn's world brings if it weren't for love. the "keep your friends close and your enemies closer" argument could be made here- the enemy being the world of the Family, not Kinn himself- but it doesn't ring true for me.
plus, we have Porsche's own words to fall back on:
I'm not on the main family's side. I'm not on the minor family's side. I'm on your side.
Porsche is here for love and love alone. Kinn is here because he is ever-loyal...Porsche's love is a bonus. a life-changing, beautiful bonus- but just a bonus nonetheless.
I have to pause to address what Kinn did and said right before this moment. he doesn't know his father is alive, but Korn's influence- or maybe more accurately, Kinn's indoctrination- is still SO strong, Kinn pulls a gun on the man he loves at the mere possibility that Porsche MIGHT believe Korn was responsible for murdering his parents.
and do you believe him? if you believe him, you have to be on the main family's side. if not- we're on a different sides.
more on this when we talk about Kinn, but this is bone-chilling stuff.
to circle back to Porsche and how he got here: at the heart of it, his decisions aren't all that different from the things anyone who's been stupid-in-love have done or come close to doing: compromising your values, making exceptions- being blind to the bigger picture.
what could catapult Porsche's ascension into a full-blown tragedy (gay gods, let it not; I mostly like being alive) ultimately rests on the gorgeous shoulders of our next major player.
Tumblr media
the proverb warns that 'you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.' but maybe you should, if it prevents you from feeding yourself. -Thomas Stephen Szasz
while pretty much all of Korn's scenes gave us glimpses of his manipulation, they showed us something else equally important: the depths of Kinn's devotion, specifically to his family and the Family. in Kinn's mind? I don't think he can tell the difference between the two.
this isn't Kinn's fault- he never stood a chance. how could he? Korn's had an actual lifetime to subtly shape and mold Kinn into the obedient foot-soldier-in-a-Gucci-suit he is today- and did he ever get started with him young.
remember Kinn's fireside confessional? he told Porsche about his dream as a kid to be a singer, but he seemed to let go of that dream almost as quickly as it came. where did Kinn get the idea of having to step up to take the burden off of Tankhun if not from Korn?
he was a child, but the walls of his cage were already closing in- and he was none the wiser. cut to all of these years later, and he STILL isn't aware. Kinn is incredibly kind, caring and soft with the people he loves, so he just said "yes- I can carry this great and terrible thing." he took on the burden, and his life is forever changed because of it.
he can't get that time back, that dream, or take back all the things he's done in service to Korn since. he's left with wistful "I wonders" before shaking himself off and moving onto whatever task is assigned to him next.
Korn is incredibly aware that love- romantic or otherwise- is Kinn's Achilles heel. all he has to do is casually mention how much the Family needs him (e.g. the apple scene) and boom- Kinn immediately falls back in line. Kinn would move heaven and earth for Porsche, but his blind loyalty to Korn is just as strong, if not stronger- the ultimate question, really.
and it bears repeating: Kinn's blindness is through no fault of his own. he's been systematically manipulated and groomed into becoming the man he is today. the fact that he's retained as much of his humanity as he has is a small miracle- however compartmentalized that humanity might be (read: being able to assassinate someone on the spot without a sideways glance).
if Porsche was walking to the metaphorical gallows unaware, Kinn is living on the knife’s edge, not realizing how incredibly precarious his newfound happiness is. he has faith in a foundation that doesn't exist. he's been drinking from a poisoned well all his life, and he's unwittingly invited Porsche to partake, as well.
I have no doubt Kinn’s intentions are good, and that his love for Porsche is as true, deep and real as any. it's the same sort of unquestioning, all-encompassing love- for his family, THE Family- that could be their ultimate undoing.
Tumblr media
I am no bird; and no net ensnares me. -Charlotte Brontë
we're going to stick to the surface streets where Vegas and Pete are concerned, because to the shock of absolutely none of you who know me, I could write a book on them.
however, I have to highlight the stark contrast their story provides in the finale against Kinn and Porsche's. they were the only characters who walked away with complete autonomy.
what felt like the final nail in coffin to Vegas- no longer being in line to assume his father's position, gain his power and prove himself worthy- was his saving grace. again, this isn't because they got out of the mafia, but because they got out from under Korn- which, irony heaped upon irony, was still Korn's doing.
for now, Vegas, Pete and Macau have been set to the side of the game board by our main player. they're out of the game, but they'll still receive some of its benefits (likely financial). it's probably the best outcome they could have gotten.
regardless of how it came about, or whatever the future holds for Pete and Vegas- it'll be a future they author together from start to finish. they're going into this new chapter with their eyes wide open, their feet on the ground and with a mutual purpose- to somehow be a family- based exclusively on what they want and need most.
I wish that wasn't more than I could say for Kinn and Porsche, but with where we leave them in the finale, it is- for now.

we aren't one story- we can change our stories. we can write our own. -A. Poehler
and so, we reach the end. Kinn and Porsche are silhouetted against/almost swallowed by the darkness behind them (intentional? I'm thinking yes) on the deck of the boat where it all started.
everything has been leading us to this moment- even their final lines are a callback. Porsche is gazing at Kinn with so much warmth and affection, declaring that his life is Kinn's. Kinn assures him he'll treasure it, clearly in bliss- probably feeling like he finally has everything he's ever wanted.
the parallel- along with Porsche repeating again that he's there for Kinn and Kinn alone- gave me chills at all the high-romanticism, coupled with deeply-ominous foreshadowing.
Porsche's life is now Kinn's, and Porsche would give him absolutely everything (he already has). can the same be said for Kinn? is he capable of rising above a lifetime of submission to Korn for their relationship's sake, for Porsche's sake- or most importantly, for his own? Kinn and Porsche are on equal footing on the surface only, and Porsche couldn't be at a more dangerous disadvantage.
as @dancinbutterfly put it to me so eloquently:
there can't be equanimity when one person is standing on earth & the other is in chains, looking up at him from the heart of hell.
I have to use our catchphrase one last time here, because it's never been more applicable: this scene is the definition of many things can be true at once. when we step back to look at the state of play, the bigger picture- Kinn and Porsche's final moment is as tender and heartfelt as it is potentially heart-wrenching.
we're watching these characters we've come to know and love teeter on the edge of a precipice they don't even know exists- but we do. Korn knows- he created it, and he even gets the literal last word- not counting the small bit of dialogue in the final-final scene with Porsche, Porchay and Namphueng.
I was so distracted by the beauty of the relationships between our main/side characters and how they were developing, I didn't go over many of these small- but, in retrospect, crucial- details too deeply, until the finale left me feeling so uneasy, I had to figure out why. even that might have been intentional.
not to go crazy conspiracy board here (but I will): how poetic would it be if the intention all along was to 'dupe' (but not really, because we're talking about it here) the audience into being in exactly the same mental boat as Kinn and Porsche?
i.e. we're so distracted by all the pretty, shiny things (love! HEA! they're in power together! etc.) that we don't see the forest for the trees? I really hope- and dread- that we might get to see it all come to awful, angst-ridden fruition in a second season. because that, my friends? truly god-tier level story telling.
even with all this possibility for heart-wrenching fallout, I've never felt 'safer' as a viewer as I do in the hands of these writers. they left some plotlines under-developed or unaddressed entirely (for now), but the unforgettable story this team managed to create from the mostly-trash heap that is the source material is a testament to their professional prowess, and evidence of all the thought and care they poured into KinnPorsche.
this show has consistently delivered on every promise it made, and managed to surprise me at every turn. I don't know exactly where we're going from here, but if we get to see Kinn and Porsche's story continue? I can't wait to see where they take us- even if it rips our collective hearts out in the process.
what a way to go, no?
special thanks to @dancinbutterfly for going full-on Pepe Silvia with me through half the night (more than once) while I slogged through this thing, and to my wonderful wifey @elnotwoods for helping get my ideas off the ground 💖 tagging some lovely peeps who have been patiently waiting for this behemoth to drop: @patprans @ellaspore @bengiyo @snimeat @rainbowcolored7 @maleficent-cannoli @i-got-the-feels @shinwoonoh @risu442.
as usual whenever I write long-form, I’m doubting whether I actually said anything at all here? either way- thank you for reading this far & I hope you enjoyed it 🖤

daily dose of sunshine kdrama ramble
just would like to preface this by saying i don't watch a lot of kdramas, mainly ones that my faves are in
it felt so much like a sister to its okay to not be okay. they both use a fantastical way of portraying mental illness where it captures the feeling when mental illness is such an invisible illness. both shows also had their main characters deal with mental illness but with daily dose i love how they approached it where its like one isn't "recovered" per se, you just learn to live along side with it and also how it explores the stigma that korea has with mental illness. obviously im not from korea so im not sure how accurate it was but as someone whos family background is also asian, i know how hard it is for people to destigmatize mental illness. it was also really interesting as someone who grew up in the west to see how different it is portrayed in the east.
spoiler alert! but when da-eun was outed with being hospitalized for depression i was so upset at the caregivers protesting against her to get her fired like she has depression not leprosy? shes still capable of doing her job and at the meeting head nurse song was spitting FACTS. i also loved how the people around her were like "it's not your fault you're sick, don't worry" and its so true. mental illness can hit anyone at anytime, people don't ask for it... that is to say although there is still a stigma in the west (canada specifically where im from) i find that among the younger generation its "normalized" to a certain extent.
park bo young as usual, kiiiilllled it. i love watching her in dramas cuz they never disappoint. i like how da-eun was grounded and felt real. her depression wasn't kinda overblown that a lot of kdramas might do. also whoever decided yeon woo jin's character needed their hair permed should be fired. it does not look good on him.
also side note: whoever did the ADR mixing also needs to be fired because i noticed all the ADR in the show. it was SO obvious. that is all :)
TL;DR - if you liked it's okay to not be okay, i think you would like daily dose of sunshine.

I just want to rant for a sec so ignore if you’re not interested/know about the Kooleen drama since I haven't seen a lot of people talk about it.
As an artist, I can’t comprehend not understanding black/poc features, ESPECIALLY if you are someone giving out tutorials online to new and impressionable young artists.
If you aren't aware of the Kooleen drama, essentially, she made a side profile tutorial where she called a profile with protruding lips and chin (a feature common in poc) "gorilla looking." After that video, people found a clip of her "criticizing" a drawing of a black girl with the same features claiming it looked "goofy" before using the liquify tool to "yassify" it. In the same video she referred to edges as second eyebrows.
Now, this has a lot of implications, but at the end of the day, all of these can be chalked up to racism. I'm tired of people trying to defend her by saying "oh she's just ignorant." OKAY? AND? If you're an artist giving out tutorials, you have to be knowledgeable about different, non-Eurocentric features, and can't just go around erasing them because you view them as "goofy."
It doesn't help that Kooleen claims to only draw "pretty" people because she knows that it will get her attention on the internet, leading her to get more money. This by itself is fine, but then you notice she literally just doesn't draw black people. Like at all. You can go on her Instagram and look at all her art and I think the darkest character she drew is Miguel O'hara, not before de-aging him of course. Like I get wanting to draw people you find attractive, I believe all forms of art is wish fulfillment, but to only draw Eurocentric white and Asian people is insane.
And if you come at my trying to defend her by saying she was "doing an anime side profile tutorial." or "it's just her style." Then you're stupid. This isn't 2016, you can draw black people/poc in the anime art style without taking away ethnic features. And if your art style prevents you from drawing a wide range of people, including poc, fat people, disabled people, or anything else, then YOU'RE A BAD ARTIST.
This is all to say without even mentioning her art style which, while isn't bad, it's what I would call "safe." Her art is designed in a way that appeals to young artists, and her tutorials do the same. It's why her tutorials very rarely go over 10 minutes, because she isn't actually trying to teach you how to improve YOUR art, she's teaching you how to draw in her "juicy" style. It's very clear at least to me that she doesn't actually understand concepts like anatomy and face structure, just the basic ways of drawing them to make her characters look as visually appealing as possible.
Overall, I'm just disappointed with the amount of racism in art communities. If you are someone who likes Kooleen or are simply an artist looking for tutorials online, please look for tutorials that actually teach you how to understand what you are trying to learn. I'm tired of this trend of art tutorials that are 20 seconds long that don't teach you anything other than how to draw a basic looking eye as quickly as possible. If you really want to learn, look up references of real people, not quick and easy tutorials. Look at yourself in a mirror rather than watch a video on how to draw a pretty anime girl. Watch a video of someone explaining the basics to you rather than refusing to learn.
And please, I implore you to draw things out of your comfort zone. If you're just drawing for fun, okay, whatever. But if you're serious on improving, only drawing skinny white people is going to get you nowhere. You can't improve by staying in the same place forever.
Also, if you genuinely believe that Kooleen did nothing wrong please explain, I would love to have a discussion with you as long as you're not rude.

reading r.f. kuang’s babel right now and after skimming through some locked reddit threads i am so disappointed by the reception.
spoilers ahead, and disclaimer that i am only on chapter 21, but i went looking for a discussion about how their plan to cover up after lovell was a little lacking, and what i found instead were hundreds of disappointed (apparently) white readers tone policing the author. calling her a bad writer, unsophisticated, and overly simplistic. Arguments that are so profoundly rich with irony as these are nameless white readers discussing the qualifications of an asian cambridge/oxford/yale graduate, but i digress. i can easily enough dismiss these criticisms as inane and incomprehensible to anyone who values non-western intellect.
Wthe criticism i have seen over and over again though, which infuriates me to the point of hysterics is that the book is too “preachy”. again and again and again dozens of people posted and hundreds of people upvoted that kuang’s book about the evils of colonialism wasn’t subtle enough. that it’s too in your face, the characters are too aware of “modern” discussions and opinions of colonialism, and that her heavy handed, over-articulated critique shows her youth and inexperience.
i could scream.
because why should colonialism be subtle? why must people of color assuage our indignation to accommodate the feelings of our oppressor’s descendants? why must the cruel, ceaseless destruction of hundreds of world cultures be boiled down to a beautiful metaphor? why is it that books about the evils of capitalism and discrimination can be so easily understood in the fantastical dark academia pieces of white authors, but the second the discussion shifts to imperialism and white supremacy, we must speak in similes and hushed whispers?
does reading about western missionaries intentionally devastating the lives and cultures of people of color for dominance and profit feel like preaching to you? imagine how the natives feel. for monolingual, white intellectuals who base their intellect purely off of western morality and philosophy, this book may certainly feel like a lecture, but for the marginalized communities who to this day speak the languages of their colonizers, this is just reality. a reality that in upper academia is still discussed in stilted, awkward tones because it would require considering where their endowments comes from. and kuang would know that, as someone who graduated from such institutions thrice.
for those that say her character’s speak with too much modern disdain and comprehension of colonialism, these opinions are not modern. the novel takes place in the 1830s, slavery, indentured servitude, and genocide were common practices of the western empires, and i can promise you none of their victims would be upset by admitting so. to say that the cantonese protagonist, with his indian muslim and haitian best friends, the three of whom were torn from their colonized home countries and now make up 75% of the incoming class of oxford’s most prestigious college, should not hold beliefs of anti-imperialism and should not have the vocabulary to express such, is so completely absurd and insulting I can’t even dignify it a response.
make no mistake, it is not that i cannot believe the outrage, because it is so very believable, but i cannot fathom how someone can deign to call themselves a reader and so flagrantly despise learning the experiences of others.
something that was particularly fascinating to watch was when someone mentioned achebe’s things fall apart, lauding it as the faithful brother to babel’s prodigal son. in an interesting reversal of roles, this black author’s novel was presented as the model to which minority writers should aspire to. subtlety, intrigue, mysticism, a delicate string of scenes and plot points to allow the reader to internalize the profound pains of cultural oppression without pointing too many fingers at whose doing the oppressing. because it is simply ‘more powerful’ to draw a beautifully direct parallel to a rhetorical issue than to point at the true source of our real world, ongoing crisis. not only is this a deeply mischaracterized description of achebe’s novel, but is precisely the rhetoric that both novels aimed to critique.
no novel is perfect. i still have yet to finish babel, and some comments I’ve seen about dialogue and characterization choices, with which i often disagree, i see the merit and validity of such arguments. however listening to the mindless degradation of this work by self-proclaimed white academics, who offer nothing of note besides overly-intellectualized statements of cultural insecurity, frustrates me on a level i struggle to put to words in any language.
anyways back to reading! i don’t imagine my thoughts are of much note, but if i have anything interesting to say, i’ll give an impassioned key smash when i finish

🤍 About this guy 🖤
Keiji is 21 years old, born April 22th 2001 in Mt Komorebi. He is a bit overconfident for someone who is alone most of the time. His confidence helps him with his drive to succeed for his goals and music production career. He's a calm, rational thinker--driven but would prefer to be realistic and not rush things. Keiji struggles with expanding his social circle, but is not without friends.
He's loyal to the core and when there is someone who he is mutually comfortable with, they will find the time spent together to be very relaxing and easygoing. When betrayed, Keiji won't accept apologies and will block/ghost you right away to move on. When he is in the outside world, don't expect him to answer back to a "how are you or ask you about your day. If he knows you well enough and you have a bad day or cold, Keiji won't bring attention to it and instead will quietly bring you something to help you feel better when you aren't looking.
Living next to Penny Pizzazz in the fashion district, Keiji has lots of money to spend on fashion but wants to try to limit how much of his family's money he spends (unsuccessfully) and makes decent money with his music. As for the way he prefers to dress--mostly he just loves the aesthetic. According to his Chinese grandmother, his lucky and unlucky colors are black and white so he thinks its funny and ironic (to her disappointment). He gets an earful every Friday to remember to exercise, eat, about what is auspicious this month, and what to avoid if something is unlucky.
He's a picky eater, and prefers all types of Asian cuisine over others. You have to fight with him to try something unfamiliar to him. When he's at home, Keiji spends all his time in music--practicing piano and guitar, putting music together to send to his other music production friends. Thankfully, living next to Penny means he can be as loud as he wants back and usually has headphones on 24/7 anyway. Outside, he follows routes he plans ahead of time for photography in the day and goes to clubs and fashion shows with friends if he feels like it.

Basketballs and Bat Tattoos (Eddie Munson x Reader)
Tumblr media
Masterlist
Eddie Munson x Sinclair! Reader (She/Her)
Warnings: vague threats of violence???
Synopsis: When Y/N finds out that Eddie has been making fun of her brother Lucas, she has to do something about it
Y/N notes: muscle/ toned build
Ty again to my black readers who gave me advise on this! I really like Lucas and I wanna write more Sinclair! Reader where she has a different personality so if you’ve got an idea, shoot it my way! I might write it
I know that black female characters get the “aggressive, more masculine” trope a lot and it was never my intention to make my first Sinclair! Reader a stereotype, it just kinda happened. I want you to know that whenever I write Y/N, I’m always imagining her as somewhat myself (a half white half Asian girl). BUT it’s not always about your intentions with your content, it’s how it is perceived by the audience that consumes it. So again, if you’re black and wanna talk about this, send me a message in my inbox and I’ll DM you so we can talk:)
Ty for reading, have a nice day!
- Willow

Y/N happily made her way down the hallway towards the locker rooms, her bag with her basketball kit on her back.
After school practice was always her favourite. Being the captain of the girls basketball team, she had a lot of responsibility. Not that she worried too much about that. Making sure everyone was having fun was always the most important thing, and that came easily to Y/N.
She was peppy and bubbly, an easily likeable person. She was helpful and considerate, and passionate about her sport. Someone having a bad time during her practices was a rarity.
The sea of students headed in the opposite direction to the exit, ready to go home. A couple of them greeted Y/N as they left.
“See ya tomorrow Sinclair!”
“See ya!”
“Have a good practice!”
“Thanks I will!”
“Hey Y/N!” A familiar freshman greeted.
“Oh hey Dustin! You heading to Hellfire club?” She asked with a smile. She noted the shirt he wore, one she had seen many, many times.
“Yeah Mike’s gonna meet me there.” Dustin replied excitedly. He hesitated for a moment. “Is… Lucas coming tonight?” A hopeful glint in his eyes.
“No I think he’s going to basketball practice.” Y/N replied, sharing in the younger one’s disappointment. Dustin sighed and nodded.
“Okay well tell him I said hi. Have fun doing basketball stuff!” He yelled as left, pushing through the older kids. Y/N gave him a wave and continued on her way.
Lucas had been seeing his old friends less and less recently. When he told Y/N that he was starting basketball, she was ecstatic. The oldest had been trying to get her younger siblings to play sports with her for years with no luck. But something was wrong.
Why the sudden interest? It didn’t take her long to figure it out. High school’s a tough time for anyone, but it’s also a fresh start. A chance to reinvent yourself. Y/N had always been one of the popular kids. She couldn’t relate to Lucas’ struggles as a nerd, but she could see it was hard at times. If he wanted to try and be someone new, she wasn’t gonna stop him. She’d just keep a close eye.
As she was thinking, Y/N spotted her younger brother ahead, also heading to the locker rooms. She jogged to catch up with him.
“Lucas!” She said loudly as she slapped a hand down on his shoulder, making him jump.
“Jeez Y/N!” Lucas looked to his left at his sister, slightly annoyed as his shock subsided. She grinned.
“Oh you’re jumpy today. Y’know that’s a sign of a guilty conscience? Whatcha’ hidin’ from me?” She poked.
“Nothing.” Lucas huffed, moving away from her. Y/N chuckled.
“You excited for practice? Jason and I are planning on getting the girls and guys teams to train together today.”
“Oh nice.” He nodded, no where near as excited as his sister. Y/N paused before speaking again.
“I just saw Dustin.” She saw Lucas flinch at his friend’s name. “He says hi.”
“Ah. Right.” Y/N waited another moment saying more.
“You’ve been missing a lot of the Hellfire sessions recently.” She commented.
“Yeah well they clash with practice so…” Lucas mumbled. Y/N could tell he was still conflicted with hanging with the jocks and hanging with his friends.
“You can practice basketball at any time. You can only do Eddie’s campaign right now.” Y/N stated.
She liked Eddie. The fact that he took Lucas and his freshman friends under his wing and gave them a place in school where they could be themselves. He was always unapologetically himself and he oozed passion for what he did, just like Y/N.
They were very alike in a way.
“Yeah well I’m one of the popular kids now and they’re not so…” Lucas’ words trailed off as they reached the locker rooms. The siblings stood outside to continue to talk.
“Hmm well sports were always my thing. You never wanted to play with me when we were little. Yet you suddenly do now? Your thing was all that nerdy shit-“
“Don’t call it nerdy shit!” Lucas defended. “And Erica likes that nerdy shit now!”
“Oh so what? This is just copy the older sibling?” Y/N asked with a teasing smile.
“I thought you’d be excited that I was finally playing with you.” Lucas mumbled, looking at the ground. He pushed the boys locker room open, Y/N grabbed his arm and pulled him away.
“Hey hey hey. You okay? I was just kidding, you know that right?” Y/N searched Lucas’ face to see if he understood. He just huffed and pulled himself away from her grip.
“Yeah whatever I’m fine. It’s just…” Lucas stopped taking. Y/N could tell from his tone that this wasn’t about her.
“Just what? What’s wrong?” She asked, concerned.
“Eddie started hassling me after I missed one session and he keeps doing it.” Lucas finally replied. “Makes me not wanna go anymore…”
“Wait really?” Y/N asked, a mix of surprise and sadness in her voice. She didn’t expect that from Eddie. Lucas continued to look at the ground.
“Yeah he kinda makes fun of me.” He mumbled.
“Does he now?” Y/N replied, leaning back slightly. She folder her arms. Her sadness was turning into annoyance and silent rage. Lucas’ eyes widened in panic.
“Don’t say anything to him! Please!” He held his hands out frantically, like she was gonna run down to Hellfire club that second and punch Eddie right in the face. Y/N stayed where she was of course, thinking about what she should do. Her eyebrows furrowed.
“Yeah well that’s what you told me to do with those bullies you had in middle school and-”
“You’ll just make it worse.” Lucas said seriously. Y/N stopped talking, not sure on what to say. “Just- I can deal with my own problems, okay?” Lucas went to go and get changed, leaving Y/N unsure of her next move.
She couldn’t do nothing.
She had to help.
———————————————————————
“Hey, Eddie!” Y/N called out as she stormed over to the table in the lunch hall that next day. Mike and Dustin sunk in their seats.
“Shit…” They both mumbled. They had known Y/N basically their whole lives and only seen Y/N mad twice.
The first time was when she was 15. Her first boyfriend cheated on her so she made an alliance with the other girl he was seeing and beat the crap outta him. They were all in Lucas’ room, watching from the window as the guy was curled up on the sidewalk.
“Dude. Your sister’s fucking terrifying.” Dustin whispered. Half in fear, half in amazement.
“She can be when she needs to.” Lucas replied, glaring at the boy as the girls began to walk away. Y/N looked up at the bedroom, seeing the four younger kids. She smiled and gave them a wink.
The second time was when Erica was really little. She was being picked on by some girls in her grade. They were too young to beat up but Y/N didn’t need to get physical to put the fear of God in them. She screamed at the girls in the middle of the elementary school playground, the rest of the elementary schoolers watching, Erica standing beside her. Saying that if they so much as looked at Erica funny she would end them. Lucas can remember that as the point where Erica started being like she was now. Doesn’t take shit from no one. Must’ve been copying her sister.
Eddie however, had never seen Y/N be anything but bubbly and energetic. Her usual self. So he had no idea what he was in for.
“Sinclair. What’s the head of the girl’s basketball team doing talking to me?” Eddie grinned. His smile faulted slightly as Y/N got closer and he saw her face. She grabbed him by the shirt and pulled him up out of his chair, beginning to drag him out the room.
“Let’s talk.” Students watched as Eddie scrambled to stay on his own two feet. Mike and Dustin looked over to Lucas at the popular table. He scrunched his face up in embarrassment and hit his head on the table.
Y/N dragged Eddie out into the empty hallway, pushing him against the wall before finally letting go.
“Shit Sinclair.” Eddie said, catching his breath.
“You been giving my brother a hard time?” Y/N stood with her arms crossed, staring at him intently. Eddie’s panic seemed to lower, his smile retuning.
“What? No no I was just-“
“Don’t lie to me Munson.” Y/N cut him off with a low tone. She pointed a stern finger at him. Eddie frozen up then sighed. He put his hands in his jean pockets and shrugged.
“Okay okay maybe I was teasing him a little for hanging with you jocks but it was just a joke!” He chuckled nervously.
“A joke huh?” Y/N repeated. Her tone sounded threatening, sending chills down Eddie’s spine. She took a small step closer to him. Eddie stepped back, his back to the wall. He felt himself going down as his legs began to cave in under him. He sat on the floor, looking up at her.
Y/N put a foot against the wall, inches from Eddie’s face, and loomed over him.
“Say anything about Lucas playing basketball again, and I’ll end you.” Eddie gulped and nodded shakily. Y/N took her foot off the wall. “Good. Have a nice lunch Munson.” She said as she walked away.
After a minute or two of sitting on the floor, Eddie found the strength to stand up. He made his way back into the lunch hall and to his seat where he dropped down on it.
“Glad you’re still alive.” Dustin said.
“So what happened? What she say?” Mike asked. Eddie didn’t look at either of them.
He sat in silence, thinking over what had happened. He really wasn’t ready for any of that. He had no idea Y/N could act that way, she was always so nice and bubbly.
Maybe it made a little sense. He knew that Y/N had always been a passionate person, her love of basketball showed that immensely. She worked hard in classes and would never hesitate to go out of her way to help others. Guess that included threatening him for her younger brother.
Eddie felt the blood rushing to his cheeks. He didn’t want to admit it but…
… a part of him found the exchange weirdly hot. He kept thinking about Y/N’s leg so close to his face, foot on the wall. The girl’s basketball shorts showed off her toned calf and thigh.
“Eddie? You okay man?” Dustin asked.
“Y-Yeah. Yeah I’m okay.” He managed to say. He looked up, seeing Lucas leaving the lunch hall. “I’ll be right back guys. I gotta do something.”
———————————————————————
Y/N got home from school that day. She hadn’t seen Lucas since lunch. He had gone home before her so she hadn’t had a chance to talk to him.
“Hey Mom.” Y/N greeted as she entered the kitchen. Mrs. Sinclair was chopping vegetables, preparing dinner.
“Hey honey how was school? Practice good?” She asked, not taking her eyes off of the knife in her hand.
“Yeah it was good. Where’s Lucas?”
“In his room!” Erica shouted from the living room couch, watching tv with her Dad.
“Everything okay?” Y/N’s Mom asked, a little concerned. Y/N smiled at her and began walking towards the stairs.
“Yeah everything’s fine Mom, just basketball stuff y’know?” She shouted to her sister before going up. “Thanks Eri!”
Y/N dropped her things off in her room and went to Lucas’ door. Usually she would’ve just walked in, but today felt a little different. She knocked. “Lucas?”
“Come in.” Y/N opened the door to see her brother sitting on his bed, reading a comic. She stood in the doorway.
“Hey.” She greeted cautiously. Lucas smiled a little at her.
“Hey.” He didn’t seem mad which was a good sign. Y/N went and sat on Lucas’ bed.
“Look I’m sorry I made a big deal out of the Eddie situation but I couldn’t not do anything-”
“No it’s okay.” Lucas cut her off. “You actually helped a lot so, thanks.”
“I did?”
“I mean you could’ve chosen a more inconspicuous time and place but, yeah. Eddie found me at lunch and apologised.” A smile began to appear on Y/N’s face.
“Really?”
“Yeah. Really. He said he was sorry and that if I wanna play basketball then he doesn’t have any problems with that.”
“Wow.” Y/N’s smile widened then dropped. “Shit I feel kinda bad now.”
“What did you say to him?” Lucas frowned.
“That if he messed with you again I’d end him?” The siblings laughed.
“He must’ve been so scared!”
“He was! He fell to the floor! He was looking up at me with those big puppy dog eyes- damn maybe I took it too far.” Y/N looked to the ground, beginning to regret her decisions. Lucas continued to laugh as Y/N said her thoughts out loud. Erica walked into the room.
“The hell are you two talking about?”
“Erica remember when you had those bullies in elementary school?” Lucas asked, still laughing a little. Erica turned to her sister.
“Which loser at school did you beat up now?” She asked, hands on her hips.
“I didn’t beat up anyone! I just threatened to beat him up.” Y/N joked, making Lucas’ laughter start up again. Erica shrugged.
“He probably deserved it. Mom says come downstairs and help with dinner.” The siblings began walking down, still laughing.
“I’ll talk to him tomorrow.” Y/N said to Lucas.
“If he doesn’t run away.”
———————————————————————
The next day before school, Y/N waited in the parking lot for the familiar van. Soon enough it appeared and parked near the back. Y/N walked over as Eddie got out.
“Hey Eddie!” She called out. Her voice made the metalhead jump and drop his keys. He turned around to face her.
“Shit Sinclair I haven’t done anything else I swear-“
“Eddie. Chill. I’m not gonna do anything to you.” Y/N chuckled a little as she picked up his keys and handed them to him. Eddie cautiously took them from her. He could see she was back to her bubbly self but he was still on edge. “Lucas told me you apologised to him. That was sweet of you.”
Y/N began walking towards the school, Eddie followed, keeping a little distance between them.
“Uh well yeah I was thinking about what you said and I realised I was being a bit of an asshole.” He rubbed the back of his neck, a guilty look on his face.
“Well I’m sorry too. I was also being an asshole.”
“No no i-it’s fine I get it. You were protecting your brother and all but yeah.” Eddie breathed out. “Fucking hell Sinclair you can be scary when you wanna be.” The metalhead said, starting to smile. Y/N laughed.
“The reason I was so mad was because I like you Eddie, so I was mad that you were acting like that.”
“Y-You like me?” Eddie stopped walking at the entrance of the school. Y/N turned to him.
“Yeah of course I do. I know some of my friends might not share that opinion but yeah, I like you.” Eddie’s couldn’t help the corners of his mouth turning up, as it stayed open from the shock. Y/N began walking into school, Eddie followed, his surprise subsiding.
“Y’know I really wasn’t expecting it from you, cause you’re usually like this cute, bubbly type girl.” He explained as they walked down the hallway.
“You think I’m cute Munson?” Y/N tilted her head to the side. Eddie’s words got caught in his throat.
“I- well I mean yeah- yeah I guess-” Y/N giggled as Eddie continued to verbally stumble. A bunch of the jocks were hanging out by the lockers. Jason spotted her.
“Hey Y/N! We’re all going to mine after practice today, you in?”
“Yeah sounds fun!” Jason looked over at Eddie. His smile faded.
“What are you doing with this freak?”
“Talking.” Y/N stated plainly. A couple other jocks walked over too.
“Is he giving you trouble?” One of the other jocks asked.
“You think I couldn’t handle myself if he was?” Y/N retorted. She smiled at them. “I’ll see you guys later.” She pushed one of them with her shoulder as she passed, making it look like an accident. The jock nearly fell over with the force that she shoved him with. Eddie stuck with her.
“You’re fucking strong Sinclair.” Eddie commented, chuckling.
“Yeah I know. I could crush your head between my thighs like a watermelon if I wanted.” Y/N said with a grin. Eddie gulped at that image in his head, his blush returning. “I’ll see you around Eddie.” She gave him a wink and walked away, leaving him to watch her go. He breathed in then out, composing himself, slapping a hand in his chest.
“Damn Y/N. How’d you do that to me?”

2023 kdrama list
list of the kdramas i watched and loved in 2023
obviously this is quite late but to those who want to start a kdrama, this is it.
#10 - soundtrack #2
Tumblr media
there is such a comfort in the soundtrack series. even soundtrack #1 was so good, but this new instalment, truly works on the og kdrama tropes. lovers to exes to accidental 'fate' encounter to forced proximity to lovers again. puppy dog male lead, angsty female lead, jealousy, wholesome second lead, it's got it all. and ofc, music.
#9 - king the land
Tumblr media
many people did not like this drama. honestly, if you're watching a kdrama that is romance and comedy then why would be angry that it had romance and comedy. again, a true example of a classic kdrama, rich ceo guy with hardworking girl, mix in some trauma and employee-employer drama, and this is the perfect clichéd drama.
#8 - see you in my 19th life
Tumblr media
honestly i just like watching ahn bo hyun. he is such a pretty man. storyline-wise, i feel like they did a lot of stuff, but the ending honestly disappointed me. shin hye sun, as usual, love the woman, what an actor, the second leads also did not disappoint, loved them all.
#7 - crash course in romance
Tumblr media
such a heartwarming drama. choi chiyeol with the temperament of a wet cat, the stress of studies in all asian countries, not just korea. all the romances were so cute (barring the best friend and brother). one thing they could have done better was cast a younger actress for the female lead. even this love triangle was so cute and fun.
#6 - my demon
Tumblr media
song kang and kim yoo jung really killed it with the chemistry. i mean, forget everything else, i'll just take 16 episodes of them hanging out. even behind the scenes reels will work. the plot was pretty solid, felt like a remake of doom at your service. song kang does a wonderful job at being both goofy and serious, and kim yoo jung did so good at the angsty ceo.
#5 - the good bad mother
Tumblr media
am i surprised this ended up higher than my demon? yes. this was such a good show, the past and present layered together so beautifully. the villains seemed like actual villains, but you weren't sure who to hate until the last episode. really shows some aspects of motherhood through both the eyes of the kids and mothers. had a cute little romance as well.
#4 - the worst of evil
Tumblr media
ji chang wook and wi ha jun. need i say more? i have said it once, and i'll say it again - so few do action like koreans do. i mean, vincenzo, my name, midnight runners, and now this, such action masterpieces.
#3 - daily dose of sunshine
Tumblr media
park bo young wa sso cute in this one. i miss small kdramas with intense plots. mental illnesses were dealt with very well in this one. the romance was so cute, and chang ryul, my baby, i missed him so much.
#2 - alchemy of souls s2
Tumblr media
i just. love. this series. so much. like, the characters are so well built, the storyline, the romance, the destiny, oh my god. please watch this.
#1 - welcome to samdal-ri
Tumblr media
this comes as a surprise to absolutely no one. what a feel-good drama to end 2023. it was the perfect remix of hometown cha cha cha that we all needed. ji chang wook, my absolute gem of a man, and shin hye sun, queen of no shit given but too many shits given roles. adore the friendships, romance, calm setting, the love between everyone. please watch it.

No, Ncuti Gatwa's Casting Isn't Regressive
Chapter 2 - Strong (White) Female Character
There are many women in Who loved by fans of all genders. In Classic Who, the female leads were the companion to the Doctor and played the role of audience surrogate. They asked questions, got in trouble and got rescued. But over time, this role would develop and gain more significance. Classic Who female representation is usually brushed off as one-dimensional compared to the girl-bosses of Nuwho, but still some representations shined through. Characters such as Sarah Jane Smith and Ace McShane are considered great female representation for the time they were created and archetypes for modern female leads in Who we see today. When the show was revived in 2005, this would be the beginning of a new type of female lead in the companion role. Women would save the day and even the Doctor. They’d gain supernatural abilities, defend galaxies, fly TARDISes, fight Time Wars and save the universe. Doctor Who makes the message (or at least tries to) that us girlies are not just the sidekicks but key parts of the journey too. Most fans agree the show has plenty of strong female leads, even if there are still critiques to be made about agency and sexualisation.
Tumblr media
But all that glitters isn’t gold. Whilst it can be agreed women shouldn’t be limited to the role of companion, there are many demographics of women yet to be included in the companion role even if it is the bare minimum, Using intersectionality as a framework for Doctor Who’s female representation, there’s still a long way to go. There are only three women of colour who are companions in the main show. There are only two female companions of colour from them that are canonically queer. Only two are Black. Only one is South Asian. There is only one doctor who is a Black woman and she is not in the main lineup. There are no East Asian, Latina or Indigenous main female companions. There are no trans or disabled women as companions. There are no female companions that are dark-skinned women (close to Ryan or Fugitive Doctor’s complexion). When fans ask for more female representation I’ve questioned many times what or who they imagine. Even when we look at the female lead progress of the show a pattern merges; the first companion of Classic Who, the first companion of Nuwho, the first female master, the first Time Ladies and the first female leader of UNIT are all white women. Most companions of the show both classic and new are white women. So when Jodie Whittaker was cast as Thirteen I wasn’t quite sure how to feel. It was a huge moment as the Doctor themselves had never been played by a woman before. Girls across the fandom shared their excitement and joy, sharing group photos of blonde cosplayers excited for Thirteen’s era. And yet, I felt like something was missing. Whittaker got tribute videos from fans who looked up to her and was continuously asked about the importance of representation on screen, whilst Mandip Gill and Tosin Cole sat quietly beside her. I thought the first South Asian Muslim companion and first full-time Black male companion were just as big achievements as casting Whittaker for Thirteen and still do. But the show and fandom didn’t seem to think so. Some women of colour tried to express this disappointment back in 2017, but were met with ‘wait your turn’ or ‘at least you have Bill and Martha’. Don’t worry! You’ll get your POC Doctor one day!
Tumblr media
7 years on, this progressive irony has yet to be addressed by the greater fandom. I’m not asking for Doctor Who to treat every marginalised group as a list to tick off and I don’t expect it to perfectly represent my experiences to the letter, but I do expect an allegedly progressive show and fandom to practice what they preach at the absolute bare minimum. If white marginalised genders can recognise how the companion role, despite growing to become more fulfilling and meaningful, is still the side character to a role historically played by a cishet white man, and that playing the lead themselves is, essentially, the greatest form of representation to have in the show… it begs three questions:
1. Why are Black fans then expected to settle for that ‘lesser’ companion role?
2. Why do we not deserve to have the ‘greatest form’ of representation as the lead?
3. Why is casting a Black man as the lead in a show that has only had three Black male leads, two Black male companions and only one that travelled full-time a step back, but a white woman in a show where most female leads are white women already a step forward?
Even when we finally got our ‘POC Doctor’ by Jo Martin, she was another side character. Fugitive’s role was to add to the Timeless Child Mystery and once that was completed, she was a get-out-jail-free hologram in the last series of the Whittaker era. Our first form of Black representation as the lead was still a supporting role. Women of colour in the fandom, Black women especially, had to wait our turn yet again. Ncuti Gatwa is a man and I am not, so I know there are limits on the extent I’ll relate to Fifteen in the same way there were limits for Thirteen. But looking at representation statistically, Black men in Doctor Who are not outnumbering white women, so this idea of a ‘stepback’ is just disingenuous and incredibly antiblack. Many fans shared their ideal doctor castings for after Gatwa and even in place of him. Minus the occasional Lydia West and T’Nia Miller cosign, most of these castings were white women; Olivia Coleman, Gillian Anderson, Tilda Swinton, Phoebe-Waller Bridge etc. Apart from the need to replace our first Black male doctor before his era even began being wild in itself, I thought about who is the idea of female representation in Doctor Who. Gatwa is dark-skinned, but the ‘replacements’ minus T’Nia Miller were not. I want to believe the ‘but he’s a man’ backlash and ‘oh but we only meant white men!’ rebuttals came from a genuine place of hurt from certain parts of Thirteen’s stanbase. However, the continued dismissal of Black fans of all genders who rightfully critique Chibnall’s neglect of the Fugitive, the surprise that conservative white men still rejected Ncuti Gatwa ‘even though he’s a man’ when manhood has never saved Black men from antiblack racism and the treatment of the show’s first Black female companion, Martha Jones, that is still yet to be addressed by allegedly misogyny-concerned fans has me very, very pessimistic. If Ncuti Gatwa was a woman would this response be different? Only time will tell and if we get a dark-skin Black woman in the main lineup one day, we’ll see if this support comes through for real. I’m going to wait and see what Fifteen can provide for the show and wait for my ‘perfect fit’ casting to arrive just as other fans who are Black women have done since day. I hope that white marginalised genders waiting with us ask not why they have to wait, but why is this the first time that they have ever had to.
