I used to lead the kind of lifestyle where the Super Mario Bros. Super Show came up in conversation a lot, usually focusing on one of three subjects that also represent 100% of internet discourse about the show:
1) Mario being played by pro wrestler and music video veteran Louis Albano
2) Sometimes legend of Zelda was on it and those cartoons are a source of more enduring affection than the show itself
3) The end credits song where Mario tells you how to “do the Mario,” which is supposed to be a sort of dance but in my wife’s words “that’s just describing Him Walking.”
I’ve never met someone else who wanted to talk about Luigi.
For those who don’t know, he was a Canadian named Jack Westelman, aka Danny Wells, and he’a one of those guys who was in two episodes of everything in the 70s. The Mario show was a smash hit but it was only his second breakout show, after playing the bartender Charlie on The Jeffersons. He’d go on to narrate the HBO produced show Crashbox and play the king on Potatoes and Dragons.
He also made movies and while he didn’t usually have big roles he was in a lot of real hits, including ding Gus, The Shaggy DA, and Private Benjamin. He was in a Mel Brooks movie (Life Stinks). He was in Magnolia.
For a while there he was the face of K-Mart when that was something you’d want to be and also kmart was a going concern…
Tumblr media
He passed away in 2013, ironically declared the Year of Luigi. Think about him a little this week, raise a glass to Charlie Day, and pour one out for “the Old Luigi.”

The crowd that got mad at Ariel being black is real quiet about Chris Pratt (a non Italian) playing Mario. I thought y’all cared about characters backgrounds?

Snow White 2025 x Once Upon An SMG4 Teaser Trailer thumbnail
Tumblr media
After 5 hours and 23 minutes of work, taking 1 whole hour to find out how to put SMG3’s head on Princess Peach’s body with raging and getting a headache afterward, multiple scene changes and tears of laughter, the Snow White 2025 x Once Upon An SMG4 Teaser Trailer has been complete
The trailer will premiere on my YouTube Channel on September 8th at 12 PM EST
Note: I do not own Disney or SMG4, this is simply a fanmade trailer for shits and giggles and who knows? If another trailer comes out and this “trailer” does good I might make another one
See you at the premiere 📺🧩🍏🪞

Just a quick one:
Can anyone tell me if Mario and Luigi have the exact same eye colour in the Mario Movie?
I can't tell if it's the lighting, but does Mario have a more bluer eye colour than Luigi?
Mario

Luigi

I know this is a weird thing to ask - but since the games give them the exact same eye colour, why wouldn't the movie?

Okay, why did no one warn me that the Super Mario Brothers Super Show has a Sherlock Holmes episode where Holmes' name is Herlock Solmes and Koopa's name is Professor Kooparity and Solmes gets literally 22 full fucking seconds of R O A S T I N G THE S H I T out of Koopa (this show's Bowser).
I took psychic damage from this episode. It has struck me to my core and I don't know who I am anymore

I just saw people on tiktok trying to argue that Luigi x Bowser is problematic cause it has a large age gap???? ig????
I mean, Bowser is a gigantic evil lizard dragon turtle and Luigi is a human man, even if there was a problematic age gap, I'm not sure if it would matter.

I autually like the Super Mario Bros live action movie. I remember the first time I watch it, it was on Disney Channel. I still like it til today.
I love it how Mario is protective of Luigi. He’s not just act like a older brother but like a parent to.

Entry #469: The Super Mario Bros. Movie
Media: film (animation)
Character: Luigi
Type of restraints: tied up
Location: early on in the film, after Luigi falls into the Dark Lands
Bwahaha! This is going on my bondage blog. You can’t stop me!
After Luigi lands in the Dark Lands, separated from Mario, he comes to an abandoned castle where he is captured by Shy Guys. They bind his hands in front of him and drag him to Bowser. Really enjoyed the tugging along (once so strongly that Luigi fell) and Luigi sadly looking at his tied hands after feeling that he truly is helpless without his brother. That angst is so good.

I actually don't mind Chris Pratt as mario, it doesn't really bother me that much.
Maybe it's just cuz I grew up with the Koopa chronicles and the live action mario movie. Nobody knew what the bros sounded like, all they have is "Italian plumbers from Brooklyn". And it's giving the godfather

Super Mario Bracket: FINAL ROUND
Tumblr media
"You're about to have a really terrible experience!"
Vivian
SEED: 1 (215 nominations)
PREVIOUS OPPONENT: Daisy
SPECIES: Shadow
DEBUT: The Thousand-Year Door
BIO: Vivian is one of the main characters of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for the GameCube and its 2024 remake for the Switch. while she is introduced as an antagonist along with her sisters, she later joins Mario, at a time when all of Mario's friends have abandoned him.
Vivian's arc is one of the most memorable parts of one of the most critically acclaimed games in the greater Super Mario franchise. the 2024 remake of The Thousand-Year Door was specifically praised by critics and fans alike for making Vivian's transgender identity textually explicit in the English-language release, which had been censored in the original 2004 localization.
in the Super Mario Bracket, Vivian has consistently been one of the strongest competitors, from before the bracket even began. in the preliminaries, she received over twice as many nominations as the second most nominated character, Luigi. she has yet to finish a match with anything less than 70% of the vote, as can be seen in her previous matches against Dribble & Spitz, Goomba, Kamek, Count Bleck, Big Bertha, and Daisy.

"I'm The Old Psychic Lady with the Evil Eye Who Reads Fortunes and Knows Everything Before It Happens."
The Old Psychic Lady with the Evil Eye Who Reads Fortunes and Knows Everything Before It Happens
SEED: 38 (17 nominations)
PREVIOUS OPPONENT: Luigi
SPECIES: Human
DEBUT: The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!
BIO: The Old Psychic Lady with the Evil Eye Who Reads Fortunes and Knows Everything Before It Happens is a character from the live-action segment "The Great Hereafter" from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. she is a spirit medium who brings Mario and Luigi into contact with the ghost of their deceased grandmother.
The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! is, among English-speaking Mario fans, one of the most well-known of the Super Mario franchise's non-video game works. its live action half-episodes were either paired with animated Super Show! episodes, or (as is the case for "The Great Hereafter") with episodes of the Legend of Zelda animated series.
The Old Psychic Lady with the Evil Eye Who Reads Fortunes and Knows Everything Before It Happens is introduced after Mario suggests to Luigi that they should talk to "the old lady with the evil eye that she could tell fortunes and she could tell things before they happen", just before the woman in question rings the doorbell and says her full title out loud.
in the Super Mario Bracket, The Old Psychic Lady with the Evil Eye Who Reads Fortunes and Knows Everything Before It Happens has gained a notable dedicated following, winning new fans over almost entirely from her name alone. her pure appeal has led her to win against Ms. Mowz, Funky Kong, Yoshi, Elvira, Rosalina, and Luigi: a remarkable achievement.

Behind-the-scenes photo of Lou Albano and Danny Wells from the production of the live-action segments of the Super Mario Bros. Super Show, wearing less detailed (likely early) versions of their Mario and Luigi outfits. It is possible that test or pilot recordings of them using these outfits exist, though none have yet surfaced.

CONTROVERSY: Did From Software Use CGI in Shadow of the Erdtree?
FIJMU News 5-23-24 by Scrute Schroedinger
With the new trailer for Elden Ring's upcoming DLC, sharp eyed viewers think they may have caught From Software in the act of using computer generated imagery.
Tumblr media
According to Computer Graphics expert Khan Putretsper, "I've seen quite a few pixels in my day and I'm certain the trailer contains at least three. This may not have been shot on film, it may not even have any live action footage in it whatsoever."
With recent controversies over Disney using AI in their films, novelists using ChatGPT writing in their stories, and even certain celebrities such as Hatsune Miku using autotune and pitch-shifting technology to change their voices, From Software is the latest to face accusations right as their new work is released.
Computer Generated Imagery or "CGI" was first used in the film "Tron," which lost its special effects nomination for such a cheat. Still, CGI has been used on films such as James Cameron's "Avatar," M. Night Shyamalan's film "The Last Airbender," and Netflix's series "Avatar: The Last Airbender." Now From Software will have to face the scrutiny of its audiences. According to gamer and watchdog group founder Luigi Samus Zeldasen, "I'd hate to see a game like Elden Ring stoop use a computer for its imagery, but I've seen the new trailer myself, and I don't think that tower of ten thousand skinned bodies is real."
Troubling words indeed.
