my sweet boy turns 5 today, wherever he rests. i’m so grateful to have had him all 4 years of his life, but just because he’s gone doesn’t mean i’ll stop celebrating him. happy birthday my sweet boy. mama loves you so much <333

30 seconds of research told me I was correct to take the snake.

Me: going to my friends house to get her things because her husband is keeping the house. So, I was like, okay ill get your shit. He won't fight with me, known him 20 years.

"I'm taking that. *points at nope rope*. Where is its light? *looks for lamp, finds it broken, with no bulb* you'll let it die.😒"

🤡- "the pet store said they don't need lamps, what do they do in nature? He doesn't need any of this stuff *look of disgust at huge set up I know cost well over 1000. But proceeds to help me get him into a bucket. A bucket.

🐀 - leaps up to bite me.

Me-- wtf?!

🤡 - "yeah it's been in there for a while, stupid thing won't eat it. Damn thing doesn't ever even move."

Well.

Looks like I need to buy it different food because it's SUPPOSED TO EAT DEAD ONES.

He doesn't seem to mind his new tank is a quarter the size of his old one to me.

Oh, and what's that, he's, moving 😱?

I need more green stuff and snake sticks, and a snake log instead of old Tupperware😅?

So now I guess, I have a mouse too?

Do I leave it there to see if he will eat it, now he's warm?

Or do I risk it hurting him?

((My friend has been out of the house for almost a month. The relationship was one that had/s abuse. She was too afraid to go get her things and has been without her glasses the whole time. Which she didn't tell me until yesterday. Today, her kid *that's the snakes actual owner* texted and said "____ I really want my switch and my mask making stuff, can you get it? I miss waffles 🥺"

So I did it all without asking my friend first, not knowing she can't have said snake where she is. So he's here for now. Or forever idk the future lol.))

also while i'm talking about it, if and when loki has children, they are mom/mother. they do not go by father/dad. they refuse to, it makes them sick. ( odin's fault ). they take a maternal role in the family.

Those are my chickens. I’m gonna name them all.

The small gray frizzly thing is Grayling (we hatched her).

The all white one is Opal (we bought her and Grayling raised her, she’s also the youngest one).

The two Sussex chickens (the brown, black and white ones) are Sunny and Glory but I like calling them either Evie and Mal or Heather Chandler and Heather McNamara (bought them).

The light gray one is Lavender (I like to call her Veronica) and the other light gray one with some dark gray on her neck is Gandalf (both bought).

The black one with no feathers on her neck is Emu and she’s supposed to look like that, she’s a naked neck chicken (we hatched her).

The black and light yellowish-white one with the poof on her head is Chickpea (I like to call her Heather Duke) and we bought her.

And the other one that I haven’t mentioned, the brownish gray one with black on her neck, is an Easter Egger named April (she’s named after the person we bought her from and the month that it was when we bought her) also I call her JD.

That’s Dusty-Bun and I call him Dust Speck when he gets annoying.

And that’s Thunderfrost but we just call him Thunder. He looks miserable in there but he is happy when it’s his turns outside.

That’s my snake, Loki. He’s a ball python.

Those are my sister’s fish. The white one is Luna and the blue one Midnight.

Summary: Loki pays you a visit, saying that Bubbles- his cat- may be allergic to Thor. Is Loki serious or is it another excuse to hang out with you?

“You again?”

That was the way you greeted Loki as you walked into your office- a few folders under your arm and a box of medical gloves in the other. Your white coat flew behind you with every step like a cape, making you feel like in a movie. In all those years working as a vet it had never gotten bored.

“It’s nice to see you, too.” The trickster replied with a playful smile.

“What seems to be the problem, buddy?” You leaned over the table and gently patted your little friend’s head who purred in approval. “Why did your dad bring you here this time?”

“I think he’s allergic to Thor.” Loki said.

“Ha, that’s a good one!” You giggled, but stopped when you noticed their dead serious expression. “That’s a joke, right? Tell me you’re joking.”

“Why would I?” The god put his hands in the pockets of his dark blue jeans- something they didn’t wear often. “I noticed that Bubbles acts differently every time my brother visits.”

You weren't sure if it was a prank or if Loki really thought his cat could be allergic to his brother. The first time you met the god they barged into your office right before closing because the cat he just adopted was sleeping too much and refused to leave until you explained to him how the cat's body worked in great detail. You found it sweet how much Loki cared about that little creature and how eager they were to learn more. And what better way to learn than to take your information from the professionals? The second time they visited was to give Bubbles his vaccines and make a file for him. One time Loki ran into your office while you were in the middle of examining Clair- a beautiful ball python who has been your patient since the day she hatched- just to tell you that Bubbles made a chirping noise while watching birds and if it was normal for a cat to do this.

“Different? How?” You straighten your back, giving all your attention to the trickster.

“He’s really affectionate with Thor and he always hated people”

“Let me get this clear-” you had to hold your laugh for Loki’s sake. You were a professional after all and Loki- although a friend- was still your client. “You think Bubbles is sick because he likes Thor?”

“Obviously.”

“Alright.” You sighed and put on a new pair of gloves. You pretended to examine your little friend, feeling Loki’s eyes on you. Thankfully Bubbles was a very brave patient and you never had much problems with him. He even let you touch his belly. That’s why instead of looking for the cause of the cat’s ‘unusual behaviour’ you just tickled him here and there- which he really liked.

“If you wanted to ask me out you could have just said so. Or you could always just call me.” You have my number.” You broke the silence while still giving all of your attention to Bubbles, who happily flipped on his back, demanding belly scratches.

“I’m not- that’s not-” The god of mischief stuttered, suddenly taking an interest in that one picture of your dog on the wall. You have figured out his little plan and that was just embarrassing to him.

“I wouldn’t say no.” You smiled, looking directly at Loki who was still refusing to meet your eyes.

“Pardon?” The god asked, surprised.

“If you asked me out I wouldn’t say no.” You left Loki speechless. Their heart was beating like crazy and his mind was completely empty. “You know how much I love it when you and Bubbles pay me a visit every 2 hours, but I have other patients waiting for me so….”

“Oh yes, that’s-” The god took his cat into his arms and awkwardly stood in the middle of the room, thinking about their next move. “So if I asked whether you had time for dinner tonight you wouldn’t say no?” The god of mischief asked, still unsure of your answer.

“Only if you pay.”

“I guess it’s a date then.” Loki opened the door to finally exit your office. Their heart was still beating fast and almost stopped when you said-

“I guess it is.”

quick life update--

hurricane helene hit me HARD. as in, my city is in shambles. my partner and i were able to evacuate by some miracle, as were most of our friends, we're just waiting to hear back from one more to make sure he's okay. we're on our way to the other side of the state where my partner's family lives to stay with his mom until things are back to normal.

obviously writing's going stagnant for a bit while i focus on evacuating, but i'm safe, my partner's safe, and most importantly my beloved ball python, loki, is safe. we're picking up my partner's family friend and taking the three (four including the snake) of us to our final destination. we've got a long drive ahead of us but we're past the worst of it.

check on your loved ones in western north carolina if you have any. things are really bad over there, easily worse than any storm we've ever gotten. i grew up in south florida and even i haven't seen anything this bad. our city alone has 15 deaths so far. i'm scared for my friend who i haven't heard back from. i'm really praying for the best, my thinking is he stayed in our city with his dad which would mean he doesn't have any service right now.

i'll check back later when we get off the road. i'm just hoping i can take a shower soon.

First certified snake post!!!! This is my beloved ball Python Loki, whom is our pride and joy. We got him liiiiikkkkee last LAST year holy shit. But he’s really a sweetheart and the best snake ever. He’s currently in a too small enclosure, (he comes out to play and stretch daily to compensate), but I am working on getting him a bigger one.

That’s just a very big matter of us rearranging our room and setting up a bio active enclosure which will take time. Hopefully going to be documenting this here!

Feeling a lot better since earlier. Turns out weed and reaching out to ur friends helps a lot ☺️

First ship: Vegeta/Bulma (DBZ) was my first ship ship, but I had mild ship feelings for Rachel/Tobias (Animorphs) which would have been much bigger feelings if I'd started the series a few years later.

Fave childhood book: Where the Red Fern Grows! Though not the whole thing. I never, like, despised the ending, but I wasn't there for that: I liked the beginning & middle of the book, where the MC is saving up for his dogs, then training them & running around hunting at nights with them

Currently reading: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, because I've been reliably informed I need it to fully get everything in Sunrise on the Reaping. So far I like it way better than the movie, though it's a low bar since I didn't like that very much.

Currently watching: Rewatching Babylon 5. I'm on s5, which I may or may not actually finish, since I don't like it a quarter as much as previous seasons. I want to try The Pitt, but am not willing to pay Max subscription prices for it.

How many animals do you have?

four cats (cwoosh, blaire, antfrost mellohi the third, and cream cheese), one rabbit (peaches), a ball python (loki), and eleven chickens (felony, misdemeanor, tax evasion, dream (chicken), clovis, harlow, ginger, cluck, brittney m. crockpot, creature, and george)

but all the chickens except two live outside in a large run we built.

okay so I personally have 2 snakes, ball pythons called sunny and calypso, but my dad has 3 more at his house(atlas, chip, and Loki), and my brother also has one (honey) and a turtle, my dad also has a giant tortoise from before I was born, and another turtle

My favorite reptile is probably gargoyle geckos! No real reason I just think they’re neat. but in general I do like snakes better

Other than lizards and snakes there are turtles tortoises, & crocodilians (alligators, crocs, caimans, & gharials)

I think the most interesting color/pattern that I’ve seen on reptiles is anything iridescent, like a rainbow boa or sunbeam snake(magical names too)
