Do you guys REALIZE the level of woodworkers that the Shire has to have? Pretty much everything in their houses is made of wood or lined with wood, and a LOT of it has to be bent to a circular shape. They have wainscoting on their round walls:

Which means they have to be shaping the wood with steam and fitting it to pretty massive forms to keep the shape.

They must have some really impressive carpentry shops, is what I'm saying. Carpentry, like gardening, must be a thriving and respected art, and now I'm just thinking about a hobbit carpenter finding her way to Rivendell and immediately tracking down an elf carpenter to tell her about their techniques:
