I think I'm going to have to go with tumblr, and it's not just because we're here. Twitter and Bluesky are nice and my experiences on both are overwhelmingly positive. But tumblr has an atmosphere that encourages originality, sharing your creations and talking about things in depth.

hey this isn’t aimed at anyone in particular but I’m saying it for the record here: if I tell you no, please stop messaging me about fundraisers and mutual aid.

I get enough messages that it’s impossible for me to keep up without devoting at least half an hour each day, when I’m not even on tumblr that long most days. Me having a boundary about this isn’t a moral failing, it’s a lifeboat for me on my own blog.

In my personal life I’m already advocating and donating literally as much as I can spare. This is not me not caring, it’s just me not willing to interact with that on the one place I go online to not interact with irl news and world events for the most part.

I cannot be upset all the time. I cannot be upset everywhere. I cannot use all my emotional and mental energy fielding my own upset from ongoing events. My options are to hold boundaries about this or stop coming online at all.

I’m all for sharing information and signal boosting to reasonable extents, but the scale of it this year is so large and so enduring that it is literally not possible to for me to participate on every account I have. I’ve previously shared links to Gaza eSIM donations and a major hub of verified Go Fund Mes here and elsewhere online. We, the online humans, know how to look those things up ourselves by now. There are many, many people choosing to do advocacy work, and right now, I can’t be one of them.

If you’re extremely upset when I tell you I can’t share/donate right now about a Gaza family or personal fundraiser you ask me to share here, just unfollow and block me. That’s what those buttons are for. Protect your own emotions and energy and get me off your feed instead of staying upset and continuing to engage with online people or content that upsets you.

Please don’t send repeated angry messages based on manufactured purity politics and moral outrage into my messages and inbox when I exercise the right to run my own blog.

matthew lore: childhood friends & teammates

AKA a vaguely chronological list of current NHL players Matthew knew before he ever played an NHL game

This is already a massive list, so in an effort to keep it as short and organized as possible, I have bolded the names of guys who appear in multiple categories and have only included those who have played at least a full season’s worth of games in the NHL.

For a comprehensive list of his teammates that have ever played an NHL game, this invaluable tool will provide you that information dating back to his first season in the NTDP (2013-2014).

CASEY FITZGERALD gets to go first and uncategorized, because he’s known Matthew longer than anyone else on this list, seems to be the cousin he’s closest to, and is one of the three childhood teammates that became one of Matthew’s NHL teammates. (And roommate!)

THE ST. LOUIS BOYS

LUKE KUNIN is THE guy. Their families are friends (Matthew’s whole fam was at Luke’s wedding, Luke’s whole fam was at Brady’s), and they were teammates for fourteen straight seasons before finally getting separated after their time at the NTDP, which is so long Luke's literally known Matthew longer than Taryn has.

Of the six St. Louis guys drafted in 2016, Luke and Matthew were the only ones born in 1997, so the following have all played with Matthew significantly less than Luke.

CCM Motown Classic 2005

TRENT FREDERIC From what I can find, Trent only played with Matthew during the 2005-2006 St. Louis Rockets season, but he played with Brady and was coached by Keith in the same Junior Blues hockey program, was one of the family friends that got to come around and play mini sticks with David Backes as a kid, and his time at the NTDP overlapped with Matthew’s in the 2014-2015 season (Trent U17, Matthew U18).

2010 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament

CLAYTON KELLER played in the 2010 Quebec International Pee-Wee Tournament with Matthew and likely more but trying to find youth hockey rosters from before 2015 is a herculean task. But he was one of those U17 guys that got to play up with the U18s his first year in the NTDP and played with Matthew for 16 games and then went on to win gold together at the U18 Men's World Championship in 2015.

LOGAN BROWN Other than the 2010 tournament, Logan seems to have played more with Brady than he did with Matthew, and wasn’t in the NTDP like the other guys, but does train with them in the summer.

2011-2012 U15 AAA Junior Blues Team

2013 U16 National Tier One tournament champions

JOSEPH WOLL Unlike the other St. Louis boys, Joseph seems to have played exclusively with Brady, but his time at the NTDP overlapped with Matthew’s the same as Trent’s did. It’s unclear if he trains at the same place as the others during the offseason, but along with the rest of the 2016 St. Louis Draftees, his signed draft day photo is framed in Matthew’s bedroom at his parents' house because of course it is.

THE 1997 JUNIOR BRUINS

This Athletic article is about all the NHL players who played for the 1997 Junior Bruins tournament team over the years, but from what I can find, Matthew only played on the 2010 team with Casey Fitzgerald, NOAH HANIFIN, CHARLIE MCAVOY, COLIN WHITE, and the ever present, Luke Kunin.

Matthew is still close friends with all these guys, but Noah in particular is a Noted Best Friend and with him being from Boston and the Tkachuks having a house in Cape Cod, their summers overlap a lot even when they aren’t teammates.

With Casey, he and Colin White are the only childhood teammates to play with Matthew in the NHL.

Okay, this section is where it gets a little chaotic so I split it between the guys who played with Matthew and those he went to school and was familiar with because their time at the NTDP overlapped.

CHRISTIAN FISCHER spent his youth hockey years playing against Matthew, and when they both headed off to the NTDP, their parents split billet duties. He is one of Matthew’s best friends, attended Matthew’s draft, and even went with Matthew to Brady’s draft.

JACK ROSLOVIC was linemates with Matthew (and Auston) in the 2014-2015 season and when Matthew went to the 2015 Draft to support all his 1996 boys, Jack was the one he chose to sit with. The next summer, Jack returned the favor (see photo with Christian at Matthew's draft above).

AUSTON MATTHEWS is another family friend. He was Matthew’s center in 2014-2015 and when he broke his leg the previous year, Keith got a bunch of NHL guys to reach out to Auston , and he’s the one who gave us the best story about Matthew texting his own highlights to his friends.

QUINN HUGHES is Brady’s best friend from billeting with him and Keith while in the NTDP and is on this list because Jack called Brady and Matthew QUINN’S BOYS, their families are friends and met at the latest, in 2010 when Quinn played on Brady's Junior Bruins tournament team. On top of that, Quinn he once included Matthew in his answer about watching Chris Tanev play after he got traded to the Flames for no reason at all other than to say he likes to watch him play too.

And last, but certainly not least, is CONNOR MCDAVID.

Matthew spent multiple summers, including the summer before his rookie season, training with Connor at Gary Roberts’ and the two of them are what I like to call STAR CROSSED TEAMMATES. Not only does Matthew swear the Oilers almost drafted him—and there’s certainly enough reports and predictions from before his draft to back up that being the plan—but Connor could’ve been a 1997 Junior Bruin if Brain McDavid wasn’t out to get me.

MASSIVE ASS LORE DUMP BELOW BEWARE OOoooOoO

UG!Mariella is very similar to Stanley, in that they can both see things that Narrator can’t and are slowly losing their grasp on reality. They are both going insane and don’t know how to stop it.

But they don’t really KNOW each other.

In the game’s script, the only time Mariella ever sees Stanley is when he’s dead. She’s randomly plucked and placed to see a DEAD. PERSON.

Imagine if the only human interaction you get is by looking at a corpse. That would take a toll on you, wouldn’t it?

Due to this horrible loop she’s placed in, she tries her hardest to stay positive. Nar believes she’s nothing but an NPC, and doesn’t pay attention to her. But sometimes while Nar is off fixing a bug, Stanley uses this opportunity to talk to her through the walls. Like Sans and stories if you think about it! They are the small parts of care for each other, and while Stanley has someone to talk to, Nar, she has nobody.

Due to her mental instability she’s very easy to fool, which {]~>>>>>>> takes advantage of. [IiuuujjLpppp] uses her weakness against her to manipulate her into doing things for just a bit of affection. She’s desperate at that point and can only confide in Stanley secretly (which is hard to do due to Nar’s constant watch.)

And if you’re asking, “Erm what about Curator doesn’t she have a part doesn’t she have a role and protect mariella and help her ehem aherm 🤓 “

No. She can’t help Mariella because she doesn’t KNOW her. You know how where Curator is says “ESCAPE?” You know how it’s a supposedly secluded area? Let’s just say Curator was subdued and locked away and JUST managed to manipulate one of Nar’s texture packs so she could leave the words there.

You said how you aren't going to tell us your actual names. Is this a 'names have power' sort thing, or just social convention?

Whichever it is, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess collector naming conventions have an astral theme. You know, Moon, Pulsar, Asteroids, that sort of thing.

The Charmer: Well, since you're so determined to know, then I will just tell you why we don't tell you our names. It's because they are in our native language and you wouldn't be able to pronounce it. We speak two languages. One is the language we've been using to speak to all of you, it is instantly understandable to you no matter your own first language, it can even be heard in the vacuum of space, but so can our main language. This language is a spell of sorts, when we speak it, it is understood, and all those that hear it can then understand others who've heard it spoken.

The Cartographer: In our first language anything we might say is entirely incomprehensible to you. Your mind actively rejects it when you hear it spoken. I'll prove it.

They begin to speak, and you cannot tell what is being said, their lips move but your mind forgets the shapes they become. You try to concentrate on the sound but once the word is no longer being spoken you can only recall a melody or music, but that soon leaves you as well, like sand slipping between your fingers.

The Coordinator: Yes, it is impossible for you to understand our language, let alone speak it. It would be like trying to force yourself to speak in colors. So we use code names that will be understandable to you.

The Curator: Plus, if our names did have power, something as easy to guess as space theming would be silly and far too easy for something so important.

DREAM SEQUENCE RECAP PART TWO: Why the Fuck is Persep Here?

Alright, it's been six months since THE LAST RECAP (though much less than that in-universe) so it's high time we summarize what's gone down in that time!

Settle in, grab some popcorn (or perhaps cotton candy?) and let's do this!

STORMS ARE BREWING

When last we checked in, Cylion was faced with the difficult task of fixing Favion's mess.

Damage Control - Step one? To get Nymira out of her room, of course! Cylion crafts a daymare he knows will send her running to him, and boy does it.

Damage Control II - Step two, naturally, is to take the arm away. Cylion and Somnia tag team this one.

Irritating - Unfortunately for Cylion, Favion's not too pleased with how he chose to fix this little hiccup. Sheesh, can't this guy do anything right? His dad sure doesn't think so! Cylion's pretty peeved about it.

UH-OH SPAGHETTI-OS!

Squabble - Hey, remember that note Nymira left herself? The one written in her own blood? Don't worry about it, you don't need to. She does! And she did! So when Cylion tries to convince her that Marrie was never at the church at all? Yikes. Then Nymira threatens to tell their father, and Cylion snaps, taking Little Friend hostage to keep her from getting Favion involved.

Getaway - AND NOW PERSEP IS HERE? No, false alarm. Cylion's just visiting him in dreamland. They hang out and chat! It'd be kind of nice if they weren't, y'know, Persep and Cylion.

Connections - AHH FUCK NEVERMIND NOW HE'S HERE FOR REAL! Nymira slips away from home to ask Ailzea for help. Her entire world is crumbling a little, she needs some support. Unfortunately, she doesn't get that. Instead she gets kidnapped!

Devils and Deals - Persep wants to use Nymira's powers. Cylion wants her back home. They compromise. Persep can have her for four days. Nymira's none the wiser.

Candy and Crocuses - Nymira's abilities aren't as malleable as Persep had hoped. He's having trouble getting exactly what he wants from her. So sad for him.

NOW WE'RE COOKIN' WITH GAS

Desperate Measures - Nymira tries to pull Cylion into her dreams, then stumbles into Persep's instead. But Cylion's there! Yippee! And he's... talking about how they agreed on four days. Un-yippee. Nymira's world shatters. She does the only thing she can think to and enlists Persep's help, determined to learn everything her knows about the church and herself.

Rescue - Cylion to the rescue! Nymira pretends she's unaware that he's been in league with Persep. It's like chess out here!

Here There Be Witches - Let's hop on back to the House of Restoration real quick. Weaver's here! She helps animate Marrie's new arm. We also learn some more about Favion. Seems Nymira's not the only one with powers that can help treat his affliction. Archie donates blood btw.
