This is a better worded, better formatted version of the notes on this post if you want to see the rough draft & my conversation with @hoffmansrealwife who started this whole thing!! 🫶🫶

Eric Matthews is an incredibly tragic character, who deserves a lot better treatment from the fanbase in general. He was a good father, who was doing his best with what he had.

He’s introduced to us as a very stubborn, bull-headed sort of guy. He yells at his son (though not without reason), he’s stressed, he’s tired, and he’s angry. I feel like people really dumb him down to just these traits when he is so much more than what we see at first glance.

I genuinely believe Eric was a good dad. A good person? No, he still framed people, but, on the other hand, I can see where he’s coming from with that.

He knows these people are guilty of something, but he doesn’t have the evidence, so he plants it. He gets them locked up for a crime they didn’t commit because he knows they have committed a crime, and doesn’t have the proof to lock them up. That doesn’t make him right but it’s understandable, in my eyes.

Eric was a good father. He had issues with impatience and controlling his temper, but he was incredibly stressed. Jigsaw himself (who, at the time, was completely unknown) was coming after him, and his son was stealing and getting in trouble. His son, Daniel, is angry at him wants to go to his mom’s, making Eric out to be a bad father to his ex-wife when all he wants is for Eric to be safe.

He tries his best, but he fails sometimes. He doesn’t communicate right, as many parents don’t sometimes.

But he cared, and it showed in everything he did that he cared. He reacted, in my opinion, very lightly to Daniel getting into trouble with the law. Yes, he raised his voice, but it’s not like he screamed at Daniel. He was very gentle with his son.

Even if he wasn’t the best parent he could’ve been, he should have been able to work that out with Daniel himself. He cared so much about his son, to the point of defying Jigsaw’s rules, knowing what happens to those who don’t “play by the rules”. Eric isn’t stupid, he knew he was risking his life by hurting John, but he cared so much about Daniel that his own life didn’t matter to him.

Eric was constantly being reminded, while working on the Jigsaw case, that even the smallest infraction can cause Jigsaw to come after you. As far as he knows, Jigsaw doesn’t care how young you are, as we see with what happened to the Gordon family and how young Diana Gordon was at the time.

Eric is constantly being reminded of how anyone could be taken from him at any moment. He was completely right in lashing out, and was reacting as any good parent would to the situation. He never even found out that Daniel was truly safe.

He’s a good father and deserves a lot more sympathy from the fanbase. People adore Mark Hoffman and Peter Strahm, and they’ve done much worse things (in the context of their jobs; abusing their power etc) than Eric has. Eric is an incredibly tragic character and deseves more love </3

So. Getting a job as a caretaker is actually very selective. Alma herself is the one who chooses them. And even then, they gotta have certain requirements.

So Hortencia and Roberto are the day time caretakers. This is usually the easiest to get into, you really just have to wake up super earlier and be able to handle sleepy guppies, and give them to their parents on pick up. Hortencia is the oldest of all the caretakers, and has been working there the longest; since around Isabela and Dolores. Roberto is newer,but has been there long enough, and works well with the guppies.

Emilia and Mateo work the afternoon shift. By far the hardest to get into. They have to be fast enough to keep up with them, and keep them entertained for hours while the other adults go about their day, if theguppy can’t come along. Keep in mind, not every single guppy is there during the afternoon. Emilia mostly keeps them entertained and fed, but she is capable of chasing after them if needed. Mateo is usually out in about, and takes the guppies out to play in the reefs, typically in groups of no more than 6-8.

Ignacio and Maria work the night shift. This shift is really only given to deep sea/trench dweller sirens. And one of the caretakers is almost always a jellyfish siren. This is, in Alma’s words, just so they have much easier access to the box and moon jelly fish that are most common around the grotto. Ignacio is basically like a night light. He stays inside and monitors the underwater and ground level grotto when the guppies are asleep. Especially the toddlers and the babies, who typically takes above ground since they can’t swim as well as the older kids. Maria is like a body guard of sorts, and patrols the outer regions, occasionally going to the surface. She has to deter ships from coming too close to the main island.

These guys aren’t the only caretakers, but they are always on shift. There are younger caretakers, sort of like trainees??? Usually they help the main caretakers, especially during mealtimes. But mealtime in Guppy Grotto is like a battlefield 😭 it’s always recommended that the parents take the guppies home for meals if they’re able, though it’s fine if they can’t. This was said mainly by Alma but literally ask anyone who was old enough to remember the last two “incidents” involving guppies WHICH. IRONICALLY. WERE LEAD BY CAMILO AND MIRABEL AND LATER ANTONIO 💀💀 (though it’s not entirely their fault)

The grotto is in the center of the community. Both on the ground level on the main island and the underwater region. Underwater is for obvious reason. Above ground is so if guppies who are playing the forest get lost, they just have to keep going towards the island and will eventually find the entrance to the grotto. Humans can find it, but it’s rare.

I went on a rant 🌚 but hopefully is enough‼️‼️‼️ I Love getting these kinda questions, I like world building for AUs <333 🦈🦈🦈

Cinder and Winter being the kind of people who get far too into card games only because it fulfills their whole desire to be competitive and they get to show off their tactical and skills. The kind of players who would just make decks of sheer immensity that them playing is just something to deter others.

Cinder does the whole villain laugh and cockiness when she wins while Winter treats every victory like its assured.

Though the pair of them aren’t invulnerable, Ruby beat Cinder once at a game of cards and she had to actually go find a training dummy and explode on it before going back and vet her deck.

Winter was much the same when Weiss eventually beat her, there was some pride in having her sister do it after all, but she is quick to rush back and start improving her deck so that she’s never beaten again.

I don’t think I’ve really seen anyone talk too much about Subspace Emissary in Brawl much in reference to King Dedede and his role in the whole thing + the scenes that were cut from the final project since they happened prior to the start of the story.

While Subspace isn’t canon (arguably) it is still on a project by Sakurai so that means he was still the one with the say on his characters. It can also be a bit confusing since I know that I only now realized some of this once I started digging deeper despite playing brawl for over 200h when I was younger.

In Subspace Emissary it’s assumed King Dedede is a villain as in his first appearance he does turn Luigi into a statue and then steals Ness and Zelda/Peach from Wario. But it comes to light he became aware of Tabuu’s plan to turn everyone to statues, defected, and thus created the 3 badges that ultimately revived Ness, Luigi, and Kirby who swallowed the one from Peach/Zelda.

So we gather a few things from this.

1. Another credit to his smarts/how he’s good at engineering/inventing because presumably he was the one to be able to figure out how to make the timer badges to revive the fighters after a given time and they did in fact revive the fighters after everyone was seemingly wiped out. He was working alone so it’s not really likely anyone else made them for him or would make them in his likeness.

2. He hesitates but ultimately gave the third badge to the princess rather than himself showing that he’s not always selfish and that he put faith in the other fighters to wake him up after they were revived and realized he was the one to revive them. It shows how he’s grown as a character over the years to put others first and that he isn’t still the selfish King he once was in the early days.

3. Overall just how Dedede is often time presumed to be a villain when he isn’t and his intentions are misunderstood when he tries to do good (also see Kirby’s Adventure and Squeak Squad for him trying to do the right thing and things not going the right way). But he does play a role in saving the day as much as even Kirby. Had he not made those badges everyone would have been done for.

We also get more inclination of his good allegiance as Luigi and Ness both stand up for Dedede against Wario, showing they both have some respect for him in saving him and even the cowardly Luigi (I love him but he is scared of his own shadow) make it clear if Wario starts something with Dedede he starts it with all of them. Also the way he reacts to reuniting with Kirby it’s hard to see how people can say Dedede hates the little guy.

Now to go touch on the cut scene involving him and Meta Knight.

It’s set prior to the events of subspace the player experiences and was cut from the final product. In this King Dedede is part of the reason why the Halberd is under Subspace Army control as at the same time the ship was under attack Dedede sought out Meta Knight. The wiki says this was unintentional so presumably he wasn’t working for the Subspace Army any longer and my theory is that he was actually seeking out Meta Knight because who better to hand a Timer Badge to than someone who you know can kick ass. (although Meta’s wiki says Dedede attacked him so maybe Dedede knew Meta wouldn’t trust him and was like “he’ll thank me later” and went in with intent to defeat Meta and keep him as a trophy instead of a cordial hand off.) Meta Knight having his ship being attacked at the moment likely assumed Dedede was a part of it wether attacked or not probably got in a spat with him which meant he didn’t hear Dedede out, and since he was occupied there instead of defending his ship the Halberd ultimately fell. The two fled separate directions and Dedede had to hatch a new plan and realized time was running out if they now claimed the Halberd which is how he ended up with Luigi and Ness. (King Dedede is about to sign adoption papers for that kid btw)

But just the idea that Dedede purposely sought out Meta Knight to give him a Badge to ensure his safety because he knew Meta Knight was someone who could have his back (and the fact Meta Knight likely threw it in his face a bit given the situation) is just an interesting dynamic.

Also seeing as Dedede made 3 badges and there are only 3 fighters from his universe it’s possible he would have sought out Kirby as well given the time. Again, he does know that both Meta Knight and Kirby can be relied on in a fight so it would make sense they would be the two people he’d want to have with him.

Long story short: Dedede saved the day, doesn’t get the credit he deserves, was likely perceived as a bad guy as usual and that his change of heart was only a late game thing when it wasn’t, and he cares for others which many people gloss over.

“Shh” Aemond abruptly stops making Jace crash into his back.

’Oof’ slips out of Jace, his face hitting on Aemond’s bony back.

“You’re walking to loud.”Aemond whispers. He was on high alert, he couldn’t risk them getting caught. He was practically a ninja and Jace was blowing his cover.

“No, I’m not. I’m practically flying.” He says, rubbing his forehead. Jace makes a quick demonstration that only makes Aemond’s frown deepen. Not wanting to upset his uncle more , Jace promise to walk quieter. Aemond mood can change in a second, His mother told him it was because of puberty, whatever puberty was ,Jace hopes it would leave his friend alone.

He hates it when Aemond is grumpy, like a cat getting wet.

Jace didn’t understand why they couldn’t just go to one of their rooms. Everyone else was deep asleep. If Jace cancels everything out he would be able to hear his grandfather snores rumbling through the walls.

Bored of walking extremely slow to Aemond’s secret spot , Jace began to hop silently but not enough for Aemond to ignore.

He had that grumpy look again when he turned back to to see him.”What are you doing?!”

“Standing. What are you doing?” Jace retorts. He swung his hands by his side , back and forth innocently.

“That’s not what you were doing. You we’re hopping like a bunny!”Aemond scowls. Usually he wasn’t that cranky but it was past their bedtime.

And he had a goal to achieve that Jace wasn’t cooperating .

“A rabbit.” Jace corrects,”If you knew what I was doing , why’d you ask?”

“If you keep playing around I won’t help you. You do want me to help you , right?” Aemond ask, pointedly.

“Yes!” Jace shouts, momentarily forgets he was suppose to whisper.

Aemond slaps a hand to Jace mouth. Their eyes widen in fear. They stay frozen waiting for someone to come out for them but everyone kept snoring away. They stayed quiet until Jace began giggling behind Aemond’s warm palm. Aemond giggled louder making Jace press his palm to his uncle mouth to keep him quiet .

Their small shoulders jumped up and down. Doing a terrible job trying to silence each other. Their giggles just encouraged them to keep laughing. Then there was a creak. Aemond drop his hand from his mouth and grabbed his hand and ran to the left.

They ran up the stair , Aemond skipping two at a time, which made it a little difficult for someone with shorter legs. It didn’t make sense to Jace , they’re almost the same height.

Jace didn’t dared to look behind. He just hold on tight to Aemond’s hand. His friend leading them to the last level of the house and straight to the huge window that Rhaenyra and Alicent warned them to be careful and to never open.

So when Jace saw Aemond unlatch the lock and swung a leg over the ridge of the window, he leaps forward to pull him back.

“What now?”

“It’s dangerous. We can fall and get hurt!”

“Just hold my hand.”He offers. They looked down at their hands that hadn’t parted since.

”Don’t let go of my hand.” Aemond corrects himself.

Aemond sighed seeing Jace scared. He explains how he’s done this countless of times, that the roof is his secret spot, where he could go away where no one can find him or disturb him. When that didn’t work , Aemond used his last card.

“Do you trust me?”

Wordlessly Jace grabs Aemond’s hand, Intertwining their fingers together, and slowly hopped over carefully the window . He’s Jace best friend . Of course he did. What a stupid thing to ask.

In the roof there was a blanket laid out,a pillow or two, and a flashlight with spare batteries in a far corner, that Aemond brought up earlier. Aemond tugged Jace behind him and sat down.

Both boys crossed their legs , in criss cross applesauce ,facing each other. Now that they were at the destination it dawned on them what would be happening next. The air turned awkward , making them avoid eye contact. Shivering slightly from the cold air.

Both boys were freaking out a bit out inside their heads, repeating ‘this is my first kiss’ in their head, like a mantra. They were practically buzzing like a bee that has found pollen.

“We don’t have to do it.”

“Scared?”

“Are you?”

“No why would I? It’s not my first time!” Aemond voice raises nervously. Desperate trying to hide the truth, scared that Jace would find out he really wasn’t as experience as he said.

“I’m helping you so you won’t be a loser who hasn’t had a kiss yet.” Aemond cruely reminds him. The regret crawls evilly on his skin seeing Jace flinch. He wanted to kick himself, lately he’s been saying the wrong things, he’s not used to messing up.

Aemond hates it when he makes Jace upset. He’s his Best Friend , his only friend , Aemond doesn’t want to lose him.

“Why do you have to be so mean.” Jace pouts sadly, suddenly the blanket looked the most interesting thing in the world.

“I’m sorry.” Aemond said, looking sincerely apologetic. Jace looks at him under his lashes.His voice now gentle.“Sometimes the words slip out.”Aemond shrugs, playing with the lose thread from the blanket.

Jace timidly reaches for Aemond’s hand , the older boy doesn’t hesitate to grab it and interlace their fingers together. They both look up from the ground and look at each other. A timid smile on their lips.

Their heart beating in sync.

“I’m ready.” Jace whispers, the nervousness he had all day finally disappeared.

“Okay. “ Aemond whispers, his lips stretched in a discrete smile

Jace and Aemond smiled and scooted closer, knees knocking into each other, until their faces were close.

Being this close Jace can see how different they both were. From Aemond’s white silver hair , pale skin like the snow, his long nose , ocean blue eyes that seemed always frustrated with the world. The opposite of Jace brown curly hair, his brown eyes, his button nose , and tan warm skin.

“Close your eyes and at the count of three, We just lean in, okay?” Aemond whispers, his voice trembling with excitement.

“If my eyes are closed how am I suppose to see your lips , what if I kiss your nose or your chin? Or your eye, I don’t—” Jace face scrunches in thought. Already beginning to rant. He didn’t want to mess up his first kiss just because he couldn’t see.

“Just close your eyes.”Aemond cuts him off, cupping his face softly with his hand.

Jace closes his eyes shut, waiting to count in his head with Aemond , he began to see bright dots in different shapes behind his eyelids just like the stars in the sky.

Aemond stifled a giggle seeing Jace puckering his lips like a fish. He stared at the boy, really happy that it was happening, Finally!

Jace mouth always looked so soft and he was such a pretty boy, Aemond thought.

“ 1 , 2, 3!”

Aemond grabbed Jace shoulders with his free hand for leverage and pressed his lips to the boy, squeezing his own eyes shut, then backs away.

Aemond felt embarrass how hot his face felt but it made him feel better seeing Jace own chubby cheeks red.

Jace brought his hand up to touch his lip , where he felt a tingling sensation, he can’t help but smile. Jace felt warm inside, like hot lava gurgling in his tummy, so much he feared the butterflies wings would melt with the heat.

“So……” Aemond was a flustered mess, his usual frown had been replaced by a shy grin and his eyes were avoiding Jace's. He kept wetting his lips, trying to chase the feeling again.

The brown haired leans forward again, pressing his lips back to his. They stay like that for a minute or so, though it feels longer. Just mouth pressed to mouth, breathing through their noses, while blood rushes through their ears.

Aemond looks startled but pleased at the action when they pull apart. “Thank you.” Jace said, biting his lip.

The boys gaze at each other, their ears red and a smile grazing their lips, and it’s in that moment Jace is proud of himself for sharing his first kiss with Aemond. He’s glad he didn’t accept the girl from his class offer to be his first kiss.

Jace mother told him how the first kiss should be with someone he likes.

Jace didn’t exactly wanted to ask Aegon, knowing his uncle would use it against him and make fun of him, Heleana wasn’t even interested in the aspects of kissing , and Aemond mentioned he’d kiss someone but kept the person identity a secret no matter how Aegon bugged him to spill.

No matter how persistent Jace was, Aemond never told him. It only fueled his annoyance more, Best friends share secrets ,he told himself he wouldn’t play with Aemond but he couldn’t come up with a good excuse why it bothered him so much that Aemond kissed someone else.

When Aemond asked if he wanted to go play in the swings, Jace quickly forgave him since that stupid kiss didn’t make Aemond want to stop playing with him.

When Jace confessed he hadn’t kissed anyone yet, Aemond offered to help him. What are friends for, that’s what Aemond said.

Aemond is smart , funny , and his best friend , the perfect person Jace wanted it to be. His first kiss. And his second.

“We could… never mind ” Aemond shakes his head, refusing to finish his sentence, scared of rejection. The idea sounded stupid in his head it will sound more stupid said out loud .

“What?” Jace ask, curiously. Hoping, maybe, that Aemond wanted to kiss one more time, for good luck.

“If you want we could keep practicing on how to kiss. So when we get girlfriends we know how to kiss properly.” Aemond cringed after daring to ask, once again he shifts his gaze back to the blanket. Shoulder hunching in , Aemond plays with his green pajamas.

Aemond’s not sure why he said that. But, He knows for an absolute fact he doesn’t want to kiss anybody but Jace.

“Okay. Tomorrow?” Jace quickly accepts, leaning once again for a kiss. He realize that nobody told him that kissing would be addicting or maybe kissing Aemond was.

Aemond inches closer, with a smile playing around his lips, finally closes the gap between them. Aemond knew then that, one way or another, Jace would always be his.

the change from tess being killed by soldiers in the game to the mob of infected coming to the capitol building and her blowing the place up while simultaneously sacrificing herself… like yes she sacrificed herself in the game but her sacrifice in the show just seems so much more meaningful now. it may just be the second episode but the show has yet again proven just how much care and heart has been put into this series. this really is a love letter to the ones who played the game and have connected with the story for all these years like myself. i’m so in love and am just so in awe of this show, it’s like i’m playing the game again for the very first time.

I’m just gonna say this, the main reason people don’t like Damian Wayne as a character is the same reason people didn’t like Jason Todd back in the 80s

People don’t like either of them because their favorite Robin (Tim Drake and Dick Grayson) got replaced by them.

Damian and Jason are both really interesting and complex character, objectively more complex than both Tim and Dick, but some people (cough, obnoxious Tim fans, cough, and Dick fans who over sexualize him, cough) don’t see that and just want their little blorbos to never grow into their own character apart from Batman.

Totally not a projection thing but

Cinder and Winter have a constant thing of thinking about their postures. They have both spent lifetimes where rigid and refined looks are a must for them, with varying degrees of supposed punishment if they’re not fitting a visual model of how they ought to present themselves.

As they age though, and the war comes and goes and they fall into their new lives I have to think that they’re still engrained with the idea of being presentable in public and semi-formal occasions or anywhere where they need to be. But this time its more relaxed, they’re not being reprimanded for slouching around Willow or Klein or anyone important in that regard. Even worse they are around people like Ruby and Yang, who are constantly being sniped at by Weiss and probably Blake alike to not lay down on the table or to watch their slouching.

Cut to CinWin and their apartment and its just Winter working for so many hours at her desk she’s melted into it. Or Cinder so bent over herself on a sewing project she may as well be a shrimp.

I just think its very funny for the normally suave Cinder and the formal soldier Winter to go from proud model looking pros at a Gala and snapshot to half-functioning crumpled people in the span of two hours out of the public eye

Now Danny would openly admit, if only to himself, that he had a type when it came to relationships. If they were strong, if they were a threat to him, then chances were he would develop some sort of crush. It was how he had dated Sam and Valerie (And Johnny & Kitty) when he was a bit younger, and hell, Sam had technically succeeded in killing him, even if partly. 

Attraction towards smart people who could kill him was honestly par for the course for a Fenton or Nightingale anyway. 

And he’d also admit he enjoyed a bit of time travel, learning about times and culture long before his time, to the point that he could blend in in ancient times just as easily as the time he had been born in. That it was natural to mutter in a language lost to time. 

So color him surprise when another man perks up in the bar he had paused to get a drink in, vibrant green eyes gleaming in interest and responds in turn. And not just in the language, but able to keep up when he talks about things that once existed but haven’t been rediscovered yet. 

And one thing led to the other, and there might have been some assassins and some shenanigans that end with them both laughing together in an inn and then more and- Okay he has a type alright, and he’s ticking each box! How is that fair?

The Owl House is the journey of a neurodivergent girl dealing with grief and the guilt that society has placed on her, finding people who accept and understand her for who she is through exploring a fantasy world like the one in the book her dad left her before he died, and conversely, it’s a story about a child abuser getting wrecked because he wants the approval of a messed up, extinct society so much that he’d rather live in a fantasy where he won than try to understand somebody he loved.
