doodles for snap donnie!
Mikey’s Page
Raph's Page
Leo's Page
more doodles and info below the cut :]
so this took a while, but i’ve finally figured out a full name for the au i plan to make, aptly named ‘snapdragon’.
since i don’t have a masterpost up yet, the general jist of it is a separated au where when draxum’s lab explodes, each of the turtles don’t make it out of the lab without a few scars, and splinter decides that he could only save one. leo is raised by splinter, donnie is raised by repo mantis draxum, raph is captured by big mama, and mikey works under a graffiti cult group!
(they also have color shifted quite a bit.)
the au takes place 2 years before the original series, with leo learning that donnie, along with his other siblings, made it out of drax’s lab alive, and his search for them. i’m not quite sure whether i’ll write the au on ao3, or make little comics with snippets of the story, but for now, it’ll just be little doodles! i hope you guys end up liking this as much as i’m excited to make it :D

cw. sakusa kiyoomi eats pussy, what more could you need
wc. 1800
Tumblr media
you met sakusa kiyoomi two years ago when he took over his father’s business. every monday and saturday at 4 pm, he knocked on the back door of your flower shop. big boxes filled with one the best flowers for you. it was also two years ago when you first opened the door for him that you realized you loved him. he was so sweet and kind, always taking time to ask about you and following up on events in your life. you figured he did this with everyone on his route. little did you know that your sweet kiyoomi did not ask questions about any of his other deliveries.
he was determined to get to know you, however long it took him. he knew the movies you saw, the terrible dates you went on, your favorite flowers and your least favorite customers. no detail was too small for him, because he did care about it all. he liked your passion for your work and your love for the people around you. ever since he knocked on that door monday at 4 pm two years ago he has loved you. he knows it crazy, and he can't rationalize it for the life of him but he knows it's the truth. he knows you probably don't reciprocate but god he can't help it.
“hey kiyoomi what did you bring for me today?” you say with a smiled as you prop open the door for him. the way you say his name makes him weak in the knees, he loves how comfortable you are around him. “besides my beautiful face, everything you had on your list and an extra case of snapdragons because i know you always run out by thursday.” he smiles at you and sets down the boxes. “you really are the best thank you” you say as you walk back over to the counter to continue cleaning roses. “how are you today my favorite florist?” he asks as he sets down the last three boxes in their designated spot. “busy and understaffed” you sigh. “glad to know things always stay the same around here” he smiles and hands you a clipboard for a signature.
he likes the way you sign your name, he can't explain it but it suits you. “you know you are the last delivery of the day, so is there anything i can do to help out?” he takes the clipboard back from you as you hold back from speaking for a moment. “i have so much to do are you sure?” you ask hoping it's not just pity. “i'm here for whatever you need” he says as he takes his hoodie off and sets his things down. you never realized how many tattoos he has, or how big his biceps were. maybe him staying was good for morale. “would mind cleaning some mums for me?” he nods and steps to the counter to start.
its quiet for a little, the silence isn't awkward though. you look over at him, he's so efficient. his hands are so perfect, how is he so perfect? his voice snaps you out of your trance. “how was that date you had last week?” he asks, not looking up from the flowers in his hands. “lets just say i won’t be seeing him again” you exhale softly, mentally pleading that the very attractive man across from you will not ask you to embarrass yourself further. kiyoomi laughs softly before speaking again, “i can't believe we have never hung out outside of work” he says as he continues to clean flowers. his heart was racing at this point, you made him so nervous he was hoping you couldn’t tell.
“i know it's so crazy! we have to do something soon” you say with a smile. “well what are you doing this weekend? there’s a new bar i want to check out and i’d love to take you.” “if i didn't know any better i would think you were asking me out on a date kiyoomi” you smile before looking up at him and making eye contact with him. “and what if i am?” he says still smiling, your cheeks were so hot, was he messing with you? “well i'd think you were joking” you say trying to control the tone of your voice. he sets his flowers down as he makes his way to the other side of the table where you stand with shaky hands.
“oh im dead serious pretty girl” he runs his hand along your jaw tilting your chin towards his face. he's smiling at you like you hung and the moon and stars just for him. hes so close all you can smell is his cologne, god did he always smell this good? you aren’t sure who leans in first but your lips touch and suddenly everything feels so right. hes holding your face in his hand but slowly becoming so desperate as he kisses you. the cold metal of his lip piercings feels so good against your lips. you can't seem to get enough of him and you wrap your arms around his neck. he taps your thighs as you wrap your legs around him, he gently sets you on the counter. he breaks away from the kiss breathless and rests his head against your shoulder “you're so perfect” he all but whimpers against the skin of your neck.
“i've wanted to kiss you for so long” you say as he kisses your neck, and you run your hands through his soft hair. he moans softly at the contact and lifts his head up to kiss you again. standing in between your thighs he wraps his hands around your waist, smiling into the kiss. he can't believe this moment is real, he can't believe he finally worked up the courage to to act on his feelings. the all too familiar jingle of the front door opening snaps the both of you out of your bliss. “fuck” you say as you hop off the counter, “hi ill be right there." you look back to kiyoomi “will you please stay i promise i'll be so quick”. he smiles “dont worry im not going anywhere sweetheart.” you smile and kiss him on the cheek before running off to the front.
this might be the happiest he’s ever been. you’re so soft and sweet and oh my god he loves how gentle you are with him. he loves the effect he has on you, in fact he may just never move from this spot in the hope that you kiss him like that again. “thank you have a great day” you chirp as your voice breaks him out of his trance. you appear into the doorway to the back of the door with a smile. “hi” you say as you make your way back over to him, “hi sweet girl” he wraps his arms around you again. “i close in about 30 minutes, will you come home with me?” you ask shocked by your own boldness. the way you are looking at him he thinks he might die. “god i'll be wherever you want me.” the effect you had on him was unreal. “let me drop off my truck and i'll be back in fifteen”, “be quick” you say as you twirl his hair with your fingers. have you always been this hot?
kiyoomi was convinced was losing his mind. he has never moved faster in his life. he doesn't even remember driving his motorcycle back to your shop. all he knew is that he was walking back into your shop with more determination than he's ever felt before. “hi handsome” you say as he drapes his body against yours. “almost done?” he asks as he kisses your cheek. “i have about fifteen minutes before i can go but i'm all done.” you turn to kiss him as he plays with the waistband of your jeans. the kiss is messy and hot, he felt weak in the knees. “i can think of a few things to pass the time” he says as he breaks away from the kiss.
you smile looking up at him, his face was flushed and you could help but be proud of the effect you had on him. “please let me eat you out” your jaw drops at his words. “here?” you ask and he grins “here” he says as he drops to his knees in front of you. you could finish from just looking at this beautiful large man on his knees in front of you. “god please” he's quick to unzip your pants and slide them down your legs. he places small kisses along your thighs as he moves to put your legs on his shoulders. he kisses you through your underwear and you whimper softly. sliding your underwear to the side he starts softly using his tongue, and puts a finger inside you as he continues.
you grip his hair and squeeze your thighs against his head as he quickened his pace. “harder” he whimpers into you and you squeeze harder. god his tongue piercing is incredible. you are getting close to finishing, and he can tell. he moans into you like this is pleasuring him just as much as it is you. “more kiyo” you moan out. he moves faster as he inserts another finger. the nickname could have made him cum in his pants. you are quickly approaching your high as you stutter out an “im close” he's moving faster than before, focused on you and only you. he's eating you out like a man starved, the cold metal of his piercing mixed with the warmth of his fingers had you seeing stars.
you moan his name as you finish and he cleans you up with his tongue. your legs were shaking as he stands up and licks the rest of you off of his slender fingers. “you're so incredible” you say as you wrap your arms around him and kiss him, the taste of you still on his tongue. “i've been dying to do that for two years” he says as he pulls away from you. “i love you kiyoomi” you say looking him in the eyes, "i've been dying to tell you that for two years" mustering the courage to confess everything to him. “god i love you” he says cupping your face in his hands as he kisses you again. “i love you i love you i love you” he says softly in between kisses. "ill spend forever making you feel it."

Yooo! Can you make a Ajax angst w/o a smut? Pretty pleaseeeee🥺🥺🥺🥺😣😣😣
AJAX ☆゚.*・。゚ 𝑨 𝑵 𝑮 𝑺 𝑻— “what happens when loyalty outweighs love?”
Tumblr media
WARNING: major character death, a bit of blood mentioned, horrid grammar as always, proof read finally but barely
(A/N: I had to make an OC for this then just scratched it out but who really cares anyways? This is from the Fontaine arc with the whole primordial water fiasco and I'm using it to its full potential by that I mean giving it a second of fame before never using it again.)
Tumblr media
Nothing happens to those who keep their mouth shut.
That's what your mother had always reminded you ever since you were little, being born under the streets of the beautiful Fontaine and exposed to the criminal life ever since made you always stand on your toes, it was all a cycle of "if you saw something, you saw nothing".
Even if you had abandoned the criminal life ever since you freed yourself from the chains your mother had tied you onto to find a more legally accepted job in the court of Fontaine, it was still something you believed in wholeheartedly as you knew it was the only thing that'll keep you alive in all this chaos. Ever since you've heard that the Fatui has now plagued your nation, you found yourself back to your old ways; always having eyes everywhere, keeping everyone in a distance even the people you've known for so long all for the chance to live even with these threats to almost every life running around for the pursuit of an archon's power.
As you did your nightly walks around the perimeters of the book store you worked for before closing you saw a dark cloaked figure walk around the street, by your instincts instructions, you quickly hid behind a building as you kept quiet making sure to not alert whoever it was.
You watched it walk down the alley and a hand emerging from it, a vial with some sort of liquid inside being poured into the decorative plants and bushes on the side walks, you weren't exactly sure what it was but you were sure to just keep it to yourself whatever the circumstances were. If there was someone to snitch at this person it surely won't be you.
After that night, you began to get this frequent visitor who doesn't even buy a book. He just goes around the shelves and reads off of the clearance section for an hour before leaving. You were skeptical at first because this man just spawned out of nowhere and was now a daily customer but then again, the business of the people weren't yours.
You were busy unpacking the boxes of second hand books donated to the book shop when this same man approached you with a dashing smile that you immediately assumed he was here to flirt.
"Good morning, mademoiselle. I see that you're really busy with all these... do you happen to need any help?" The stranger offered.
You just watched him with a judging eye, eyeing him up and down for any possible falter to his faux persona if there was before speaking:
"Well... you're here everyday for five hours so why not, right?" You shrugged as you offered him a bit of the books meant for the clearance section as you took the well conditioned books into the counter to repackage into protective plastic.
You watched as he seemed to not mind doing any of your work for you, it was a bit confusing to watch especially with him not being an employee but just a customer. After all the books were all taken care of, you approached him to where he was seated and placed down a plate of sweet baked goods in front of him as you went back behind the counter to grab the tea you just made.
"Oh you didn't have to, I'm happy to have helped lift some responsibilities off your shoulders" The man smiled as he watched your subtle thank you through the food.
"I insist, please eat..." You said as you just sat there beside him.
It was quiet as he munched on a strawberry jam filled tart cookie, he took the tea pot covered in designs of snapdragons before pouring it into a matching cup. It seemed as if you were not the one to talk so he took upon the initiative and decided to participate in small talk.
"My name is Ajax... you are?" He held out his gloved hand towards you.
You stared at his hands, looking for any possible devices hidden underneath the glove. He seemed to have caught on as he retracted back his arm to take off his glove before going back for a handshake, his hand was calloused and rough from your view but at the same time they looked very warm.
Lifting your hand off your lap, you took his hand in yours as you slowly shook it.
"Y/N... just call me Y/N" you said before pulling back your hand to grab a book beside you as you started to read.
It was another silence, surprisingly, this silence wasn't one so uncomfortable that makes you move around and squirm but instead it felt like you could even sleep peacefully in this silence as the atmosphere didn't pressure you to say something or fill the wind with nonsensical talk.
"Hey, Y/N" Ajax called out as you hummed in acknowledgement, lifting your gaze off the book to look at him.
"I was wondering if you know any book about flowers and their meanings... I just wanted to learn about it and send secret messages to my sister, we used to have secret languages as kids but nowadays it seems that flowers are the best option since she loves flowers" He smiled bashfully at the mention of such a book that didn't seem to be the liking of someone so gruff looking like him.
You handed over a book that he was looking for, it was a bit weathered down by time but it was still readable and was one that actually contained the original meanings of each flower in existence. He started going through it carefully as he looked over the flower design on the teapot, "Snapdragons: deception and deviousness but also resembles grace and strength" He read out proudly.
There was such a meaningful innocence in the man's smile as he read the book with the intention of reconnecting with his sister, your eyes watered a bit as you wished someone cared for you like he cared for his sister to learn to better understand their likes to have something to talk about.
"Y/N, what are your favourite flowers?"
"Tulips— pink ones" you answered.
"Pink tulips are known for meaning affection, caring, good wishes, and love... well... you seem like that kind of person" He smiled once more.
You laughed awkwardly as you looked at him with a confused look, wanting to know what he meant by what he said.
"I-I meant like... like... umm... you seem like the person who would love tulips!" He said, trying to save him from embarrassment from his unsubtle flirtiness.
"H-How much is the book?"
"With its publication date, it's a classic... it's well loved with how worn out it is... but for you, as a token of friendship, I'll give it to you for free" You smile for the first time in months.
It felt awkward to smile again but to Ajax, your smile gave angels wings. It was as if everything stopped just for this very moment as the nymphs of the lake sang just for you, the wind blew tenderly and slowly through the plants outside just to have a glimpse of that smile of yours, the sun rays going through the large windows just to admire your smile— it was a perfect sight.
"Y-You want to be friends?" He asked, his face looking like a dog who was faced with delicious treats.
"Of course... you seem nice enough"
"I'll promise to be the bestest friend you'll ever have, I will help you whenever you need help from me and if you're hungry I'll bring you delicious snacks!" He blurted out. This man was the definition of sunshine, you loved how the usual nonchalant and rude filled city was slowly being plagued by nicer and a bit more out there foreigners.
Ever since you befriended this ginger haired lad you had never known quietness, though sometimes there were periods where he would just watch as you read or listen as you read out for the children who occasionally came by the book shop to listen to your voice and teach them how to read, he just loved to talk to you as he knew that you listen unlike the times he's with people who just brush him off by putting a show and pretending to listen to him.
"I miss my home..." He pouted as he lounged about the couch placed just near beside the large window of the now closed book shop, it was nighttime and you could now count the people who passed by with your fingers.
"What's stopping you from going home?"
"Work" he sighed as he munched on a cookie made to look like a chrysanthemum. He used to babble about how he finally knew the outcome of something in a book just by the flowers that were mentioned, how the chrysanthemum flower spoiled the coming death or end of a relationship in the book he read.
"What do you do for work?" You ask as you placed down the book in your hands.
He thought for a second, you had been friends for quite a while so he thought how you'd probably accept him for whatever he was... but not right now.
"An adventurer, I can't really leave if I wanted to since I have a lot of commissions to attend to in this nation" He lied.
That confrontation made you a little bit more distant to him than usual, he knew you liked your personal space but this was just too much avoidance. Ever since you found out that he was just passing by and was only here in Fontaine for a while made you trust him less, made you see him in a different light that puts him in the category of people who you're most likely to push away.
It was another day at the book shop but this day wasn't like any other, you were huddled with a bunch of orphaned children who roamed the streets and children who lived in the sewers like you once were. The Fatui just decided to wreak havoc in your nation now that they couldn't get their hands on the real gnosis as they found that the archon seen everyday at the oratrice mechanique d'nalise cardinale wasn't the real deal but a mortal posing divinity.
But before you could shut down the power to make your workplace less likely to be raided by Fatui guards, you saw Ajax come in, you two were now running back to the sewers along with the children.
"They're safer here now... the Fatui passed by these sewers already" He assured as he helped you make fire to keep the children warm alongside the adults who survived the raid.
"I have to go back up..." Before he could leave, you pulled him by his arm making him stop and look back at you.
"I'm coming with you..." This made his eyes widen.
"W-What? N-No... it's dangerous up there...!" He reasoned.
You didn't actually want to get involved in all of this but seeing your friend willing to go in the front lines for a nation he wasn't even born in and a connection with you wanted to do something for your motherland, he was your friend too.
"You're not stopping me... this is my nation and I will protect it!" You insisted.
"Stop just stop... please... it's dangerous up there"
"I can fight... I have to fight for these children...I can—"
"Why don't you just let me do this for you, for once why don't you let yourself trust me?!" He blurted out causing you to flinch back from him suddenly raising his voice.
"You think I haven't noticed? Not even for once you trusted me... for anything... are we even friends?" He added.
"Ajax, I'm—" Before you could finish, he had already left.
Ajax stood beside his colleagues, fighting off any mekas that stood their way. He was in the middle of fighting off a bunch of gardes when he saw a bunch of Fontainian people screaming and running as he saw waters slowly rise and flooded the streets, he saw how some of them make contact with the water and immediately disappear into thin air, he knew you would be safe as you had told him that you were most likely from outside of Fontaine but then again, you were with pure Fontainians.
He ran back to the sewers but before he could dive in he was already greeted with the sewers filled to the brim with the same water that dissipated all of these Fontanians he just saw earlier, he just hoped to whoever was listening to him that you all had managed to flee before the flood.
He went back to the front lines and soon found his way in the ship that the Fatui had readied for this very event that was written in the books of the Fontainian archives, he was going to go back for you he promised to himself but then he saw your figure as lightning flashed by. He thought you were actually there but he was just hallucinating you being there, he stood up and went outside to take a breath of fresh air.
"Liar..." His heart dropped, he thought he was hallucinating your voice as well but when he turned around he saw you.
"Y-Y/N? Oh my god... Y-You're safe!"
He was about to approach you but you immediately tackled him into the ground as you held a broken glass shard close to his throat.
"You pleaded for trust... now you've completely broken it!" You cried out as you tried to drive the shard to his throat but his hand kept you from doing so.
"W-What're you talking about?"
"You said they'd be safe down there... I left to go after you but they all drowned!" You sobbed as you only saw the clothes of the children floating around as you opened the cover of the manhole that connected with the sewers.
He flipped the both of you, you were now below him as he restrained your hands from hurting him accidentally or intentionally.
"I-I didn't know...!" He knew, he just knew that either way these children wouldn't survive from both the flood of prophecy and the wrath of the Fatui so he just let the children die a peaceful death.
You used your legs and arms to push him off as you stood up, the blood dripping from your hand from how hard you've held onto the glass shard.
"Drop that... you're hurting yourself!" As you stood there enraged, the other Fatui guards alarmed by the sudden commotion entered the dock along with the harbinger Arlecchino.
"You lied to me... you knew they would die there... and you lied about your work, Ajax... if that even is your name" You laughed.
Arlecchino gestured towards the guards and they immediately followed her as they swarmed you to hold you back, Ajax just watched, he looked towards Arlecchino silently telling her to not hurt you in any way.
"Do you know how to swim?" Ajax began.
"What? Of course I do...?" And with that, he gestured to the guards to throw you off the ship but you tried to get yourself out of their grasp.
"This is better for you, you're not Fontanian so you're safe... this ship is going to war so I'd rather have you down there than up here, there's ships down there of Fontaine so just yell for help" He adviced.
"N-No... Ajax no, please..." You pleaded, shaking your head.
He placed his hands on your shoulders and made you look at him, "This is safer for you..." he then pushed you off as you fell from their sky ship towards the sea beneath you.
He watched as you fell down and as soon as you made contact with water you sinked in, he was waiting for you to emerge from the water but it's been a minute and there was still no sign of you.
"Oops... forgot to tell you" Arlecchino chimed in.
"Whilst you were making sure she didn't speak about us poisoning the bushes... I set out our men and found out that she lied to you... They're pure Fontanian"
That revelation made his heart drop to his feet as the waves below him began to slow down— he killed you.
He fell down to his knees as he watched his gloved hands that both welcomed you into his life and removed you from it, he couldn't believe that he lost you... he's lost so much, you made him see that not everything is easy to get but it will always be worth it and he lost you too.
"Come on... go back to sleep" Arlecchino spoke out as she began to walk away.
Ajax stood up and leaned into the railings of the ship as his tears fell down, for years he thought that these tears were reserved for his family but why was he now crying for someone he just met three months ago?
"Please... please get out of the water... please!" He screamed from the top of his lungs, denying the fact that you too had now dissipated like the others he saw.
"Ajax... go back to sleep" Arlecchino said sharply as she pulled him by his arm and threw him forward to walk back to the rooms in the ship.
"You knew these people had no future... whether they die in our hands or to the prophecy... they're still going to die" Arlecchino added before shutting the door to his room shut leaving him in utter despair all alone in this cold dark room.
He killed you thinking he was going to save you.
BONUS:
He watched as the cemetery was flooded with people who survived the flood, now mourning their loss now that the waters had now cleansed the land of its sins.
He approached a certain tomb, one with an aged picture of a child smiling brightly with a name engraved into the stone. He set down a bouquet of your favourite pink tulips as he sat down in front of your grave, it hurt a lot more knowing that there was no body to bury but at least with this you would still be remembered.
"Y/N... my name is Ajax, it's my real name... I didn't find it in myself to just give you my codename... I just felt like I could be myself with you..." He began to speak as he tried to stop his tears from falling.
He grabbed the framed picture that your boss had placed down and admired it, this was a smile he would miss, a face he'd miss to see.
You were the only friend who had actually cared for him, you didn't trust him enough but he could understand where you were coming from but what he couldn't believe was how he still let his loyalty to the Tsaritsa ruin your blooming relationship with each other.
He couldn't believe that his blood oath to the cryo archon had harmed the people you love and had been the reason that this grave was for a young person— a grave with no body to mourn.

Raine Living At The Owl House Part 3: I Guess This Is A Series Now
When Raine moves in, everyone gets something for their closet as a housewarming gift. From Luz, this is a cat shirt like hers with the word “CATTS” on the front (she later gets these for everyone in the rebellion). From King, this is a series of bizarrely ornate necklaces. From Eda, this is a Bad Girl Coven T-shirt. From Hooty, this is a shirt that says “I SURVIVED THE TUNNEL OF LOVE AND ALL I GOT WAS THIS LOUSY T-SHIRT”
Eda has a matching one, but that’s a story for another time
The family also gets Raine one of the the sweaters everyone’s wearing in that one family photo
Speaking of that photo: they recreate it with Raine. Raine keeps it in their wallet
One of Raine and Luz’s favorite ways to pass time is taking the most weirdly specific quizzes (“Which Type Of Toaster Made In The Year 1998 Are You?” “Which Style of Deadwardian Hat Are You?”) they can find together
Raine is really passionate about making up for lost time with Eda and her family and is big on family bonding activities, which means every holiday- Boiling Isles, Human Realm, everything- becomes a huge deal for them. After what happened to Flapjack, Luz isn’t big on Halloween, but when Raine pulls together an exquisitely detailed costume based on her design for an older Azura, she can’t bring herself not to trick-or-treat with them. They love it (and get an insatiable love for human candy), and she gets back a little bit of a positive association with the holiday
The Cosmic Frontier movies are, of course, shown during Owl House movie night. Raine learns a few songs from the soundtrack and plays them for Hunter when he’s having a bad day
Raine always keeps a fresh vase of snapdragons in their and Eda’s room from their hill
The two of them reminisce a lot about their Hexside days and Luz is forever whipping out her sketchbook whenever they do to draw the stories. She has like an entire comic going within the first month

Strawberries And Cigarettes - Eddie Munson X Female Reader
Tumblr media
Title: Strawberries And Cigarettes
Eddie Munson X Female Reader
Additional Characters: Reader's mother and father (Mentioned), and Uncle Wayne
WC: 7,110
Warnings: Reader has a mother and father, Modern AU, needles mentioned, bullying mentioned, nervousness, anxiety, embarrassment, teasing, taunting, flirting, misunderstandings, nicknames, sickness mentioned, blood mentioned, slight angst, and fluff
In the small town of Hawkins, there were two family-owned businesses, side by side. One was bright and colorful, the windowsills were covered in vivid flowers of all different kinds. Inside, rows and rows of bouquets sat on display in neat lines. Roses, daisies, daffodils, tulips, snapdragons, chrysanthemums, pinks, yellows, oranges, and blues were arranged according to color order, and each color was displayed with pride and joy. The shop smelled like fresh flowers and green tea, and the radio station played classical music that could soothe anyone. It also had a beautiful window seat where customers could sit if they just needed a break from shopping at other locations or whatnot, where they could read books from the small shelf in the corner; ranging from romance to comedy, to horror. Overall, the flower shop had a calming and caring atmosphere. The name of the shop was 'Aroma Therapy.'
The shop next door was dark, neon red lights lined the window frames, and the word, 'Tattoo,' was on the large front window. Inside, the walls were filled with art, samples, and designs of different options for tattoos. There were various designs of butterflies, dragons, wolves, and other creatures on the walls, as well as objects and items if animals weren't their forte. There was also an assortment of piercings, such as earrings, nose piercings, eyebrow piercings, lip piercings, and any piercing anyone could ask for. The tattoo parlor smelled like mahogany and leather, and the radio was always playing Metallica, Bruce Dickinson, and songs alike. Almost every day the parlor was filled with the sound of tattoo guns buzzing and people chatting. The parlor was 'Ink Envy.'
You worked at the flower shop, which was owned by your parents; you took care of the shop when they needed a break. You loved working there, loved being with the flowers. It was calming, taking care of the flowers, and watering them. You even loved to learn more about the flowers in your parent's store, it was a sort of fascination to you; flowers and their meanings.
Eddie Munson worked at the tattoo parlor next door, the shop was owned by Eddie’s uncle Wayne, who noticed his nephew’s talent for the arts. And Eddie did have talent, he was the top dog of tattoos in that joint. He was the number one artist and the people who went to get tattoos knew it. Eddie loved working at his uncle’s parlor, it was fun as it was comforting for him. He loved creating new and crazy tattoos for people, Eddie loved working on those designs because he was able to express himself with them; and it helped him keep a clear head when things got intense. He enjoyed creating art that he loved, something he could be proud of.
You knew of Eddie, having gone to school with him, graduating as Eddie stayed another two years. Eddie worked right next door to you, and you had seen his work before. He was good, really good. Some people would come in for flowers, adorned with tattoos of various sizes and patterns, all of which were carefully crafted and beautifully colored. Though he was popular in the tattoo community, some people didn't like Eddie. Eddie wore leather and had an edgy style, and it seemed, even in 2023, some people didn't seem to like that. Sometimes you would hear people talking about him when you went to the grocery store, bad-mouthing him or even calling him a 'punk kid.' That wasn't anything new for Eddie though, he'd heard those things plenty of times before. People always said rude things to him, and he learned to tune it out after a while.
You liked Eddie though, a lot. You thought he was cute, whenever you saw him walk past your shop. It was like a sixth sense, you always knew when he was going to pass by your shop windows. Well, it was easy to know, the chain on his ripped black jeans would jingle and rattle loudly with every step he took. You couldn't help but stare every time, mesmerized by his 80s-like hair, which was getting back into style. You loved the silver rings that adorned his knuckles, the way he ran his hand through his hair every once in a while, how overzealous he acted; so over-the-top; talking so animatedly, and how he would get really passionate about whatever he was doing.
Caught up in your thoughts of Eddie, you looked up from the counter, hearing the bell above the door jingle. Your eyes widened slightly as you watched Eddie himself walk into the shop. The young man himself looked around the shop, glancing at the flowers, the book nook corner, and finally, you. Giving you a grin, he walked over, placing his ring-clad hands on the counter.
You couldn't help but stare a little, taking in his cute face and edgy attire, loving the small 'Megadeth' patch on his jean vest. "Hey, I've never seen you around. Are you new?" He asked and you looked at him with a small smile, kind of shocked, and slightly hurt, by his answer.
"I'm Y/N. I was born and raised here. My, uh, parents own the shop." At that, Eddie's grin dropped slightly before he spoke.
"Oh, I'm sorry-" But you only waved off his apology, shaking your head with a smile.
"It's fine," You clicked the purple pen in your hand open, "So, what can I get you, Eddie?"
Eddie groaned softly, running a hand through his hair as he let out an awkward chuckle, "And you know me? That makes me feel terrible! How come I've never seen you?" He asked and you shrugged, glancing around the shop.
"Well, if I'm not here, I'm home or running errands. And, this is your first time in the shop." You didn't want to tell him that you went to high school at the same time as him, that would make this interaction worse.
Eddie nodded, "That's true... I just don't get it." Eddie muttered and you tilted your head to the side slightly, confused and curious.
"Don't get what?" You asked and Eddie grinned slightly, looking back at you.
"How I’ve missed a beautiful girl like you," Eddie replied smoothly, your heart jumping at the statement as you ducked your head shyly, smiling. You never thought when you'd finally meet Eddie that he'd be so... Charming.
"Thanks..." You mumbled and Eddie chuckled, leaning against the counter, resting his arms along it. He looked at you thoughtfully, before you cleared your throat.
"So, uh, what can I help you with?" You asked, twirling your pen around with your fingers, "I doubt you came here to just smell the flowers." You tried to joke, feeling slightly embarrassed.
Eddie nodded, clearing his own throat as he stood straight, "Uh, yeah, my uncle wanted me to get some flowers."
You got your notepad ready, looking up at Eddie expectantly, "Alright, what type of flowers did he want?"
Eddie's face dropped, panic filling his eyes, "Uh, I don't remember what he wanted." He said, staring at the ground briefly before snapping his fingers, looking up at you with a smile, "But it started with 'c'."
You pursed your lips, thinking, "C? Alright, let me name some off and you can tell me which one it might be... Cape Primrose? Uh, Celosia? Clarkia? Clematis? Coneflower? Cyclamen?" You named off the top of your head, glancing to the buckets on the side wall, filled with flowers, "Uh, what about Cosmos?" To that, Eddie shook his head, and you continued, "Uh, Chrysanthemums? Carnations?"
Eddie's eyes winded and he nodded, "Yes, that one! Carnations. He wanted white and red ones, I think."
"White Carnations and red Carnations? Or the white Carnations with the red tips?" You asked, writing down 'Carnation' on the small notepad.
Eddie's eyes widened slightly, surprised, "Wait, they come in different colors?"
You looked up and nodded, "Yeah, practically all flowers come in every color of the rainbow. Either by nature, breeding, or dye."
“Wicked.” Eddie muttered as you clicked your pen closed, walking around the counter to lead Eddie to the side wall of buckets and buckets of flowers.
"These here are the typical roses. They mean romance, passion, and whatnot," You pointed to the first bucket, as Eddie looked at you, seemingly invested and listening to your every word. "They normally come in red, but these three are the other colors we offer. Light pink means adoration, grace, joy, and so on. Lavender, which means love at first sight or enchantment. And last but not least, white, means innocence, purity, that sort of thing. Red roses are our top seller, which is pretty typical since it is the most popular flower to give to someone." You turned to look at Eddie, "Let me show you the Carnations." You led him to the opposite wall.
Eddie followed, before standing by your side at another set of buckets, "That's a lot of Carnations." He noted, as you nodded, laughing lightly, as Eddie looked at the five options. "I think my uncle wanted the type with the white and red-tipped petals."
"Ah, okay, that's called the Bi-Colored." You gestured to the B-Colored Carnations.
Eddie looked at you with a smile, "What are the other ones called?"
"Well, we have Solex," You pointed to the bucket of orange Carnations, "And we have Moonlights, they are pretty dope." You pointed to the white ones. "And then we have Babylons and Don Pedros." You answered, pointing to the cream-colored Carnation and Carnation respectively. You smiled softly, reaching out to gently touch the soft petals of the Don Pedro. "Don Pedros are one of my favorites." You pulled away, gesturing to the shop, "But, really I have a lot of favorites."
"You really know a lot about flowers," Eddie spoke up and you nodded, shrugging a shoulder.
You looked back over at him, "Yeah, I mean, I have to. I work in a flower shop." You laughed out, looking at Eddie with a small smile, Eddie gazing down at you, his brown eyes sparkling. He stared at you for several seconds before he realized what he was doing and he immediately snapped out of his trance and smiled nervously. You also snapped out of it, looking down at the ground as you placed your fist against your lips, clearing your throat. "Uh, so how many Carnations can I put you down for?"
Eddie stuffed his hands back into his pockets, his fingers fiddling with the cash his uncle gave him in his pocket, "Uh, how many do people usually get?"
"Twelve. But most people also get ten or thirteen." You responded and Eddie hummed in understanding.
"So, I guess I'll get twelve?"
You smiled teasingly, "You don't sound too sure." You chuckled, gesturing over at the counter with your thumb, "I'll make the flowers, and I'll ring you up at the front." Eddie nodded with a thankful smile, heading over to the counter. Leaning against it on his elbow, Eddie watched as you picked twelve Bi-Colored Carnations, pulling them into a bouquet. Walking over, you went to the wall of paper, before turning to Eddie. He stumbled slightly, getting caught staring, as you pointed to the array of colored paper. "What paper would you like?"
Eddie was confused, but answered, "Uh,- What do you suggest I choose?"
You tapped your chin with your finger, staring at the flowers before looking up at the paper, "Hmm, a nice French Blue. Brings out the red and white.” You say, before placing the flowers on the paper, grabbing the blue wrapping paper and beginning to pull it forward, turning the flowers, wrapping the stems in the paper perfectly before cutting the paper with scissors. Setting the scissors back on the hook, you grabbed the tape and tapped the end of the paper closed, before tucking the corner in and turning to Eddie. You handed him the bouquet before writing down Eddie's order on the notepad. "Alright," You then transferred the information to the tablet, instantly totaling the price. "That'll be thirty-six fifty." You finished, looking up at Eddie as he pulled out the cash from his pocket. "Is that going to be card or cash?"
"Cash," Eddie said, handing you a fifty-dollar bill, and you opened the cash register, grabbing a ten, four ones, and fifty cents. You began to hand him the change but Eddie shook his head, grabbing the flowers. "You can keep the change."
You shook your head, "I can't take all this as a tip, please take it." You tried but Eddie gave you a grin, shaking his head.
"I insist, please, you helped me with the flowers." He then tried but you shook your own head.
"That's my job, Eddie." You tried to hand him the cash again.
Eddie just continued to smile, "And you're great at it. Keep it."
You huffed, before taking the four dollars and fifty cents out of your hand, placing it on the counter; trying to hand Eddie the ten-dollar bill. "How about this, I'll take the four dollars and fifty cents, and you take the ten." You offered, but Eddie didn't budge.
"Y/N-"
"Please," You whispered softly, staring at him, your eyes pleading, "Take it."
Eddie sighed, but gave you a teasing grin nonetheless, taking the ten from you. "Fine, I'll take it. But only because you said ‘please’."
You sputtered a laugh, rolling your eyes, "You're impossible, Eddie." You then put the tip in the till.
"Well," Eddie smirked, walking backward with his bouquet, "I've been called worse."
Before you could say anything else, he was out of the store, the bell ringing softly, echoing through the store; leaving you alone again.
~~~
Entering the store, Eddie's uncle Wayne looked up from the counter, smiling slightly at the sight of the bouquet. "Eddie, son, thank you. I would've done it myself but I had an important meeting I needed to be at." He spoke, and Eddie shrugged, smiling.
"It's fine, uncle. So worth it." He spoke, drawing out the fourth word as Uncle Wayne looked at Eddie, raising an eyebrow.
"What do you mean, kiddo?" He asked, confused, "I didn't think you'd be too excited to go flower shopping."
Eddie shook his head, placing his hands on the counter as he did back in your store, glancing off to the side, "It wasn't the flowers, it was the person selling the flowers."
Uncle Wayne hummed, taking the flowers from his nephew, and observing them, "A cute girl, I suppose?"
Eddie could only nod, almost shyly, before the door opened, a customer entering. "Welp, got a customer." Eddie turned to talk to them, but paused, turning back to his uncle. "Who are the flowers for anyway?"
"None of your business, boy. Time for work." He answered, turning around and heading to his office. Eddie stared at him as he left before he shrugged and turned to the customer.
The days passed by, Monday slowly turned into Friday, and night into day, until Eddie's visit was a distant memory. Actually, you have thought about Eddie every day since. Now he was just stuck in your head. You could say that he was living in your head rent-free. You hadn't really seen Eddie since he came for the Carnations, but you did hear him, playing on Saturday nights. You just stay up, staring up at your ceiling as he played whatever song he was playing. One night, your curiosity practically killing you, you instantly downloaded Shazam on your phone, going up to the wall to try and see if your microphone could pick it up. And it did, the song, upbeat and pretty rock and roll, was Master Of Puppets by Metallica. You never heard of the song before, only through Eddie playing his electric guitar, so you headed to YouTube, finding the song and listening to it. Surprisingly, for the next three hours, you listened to most of Metallica's songs. You sort of understood why Eddie liked the band.
The next morning, you were a bit tired but got up anyway. You had a job to do. Getting dressed, you made sure to eat breakfast, drink some coffee, and greet your parents before heading down to the store. Making sure to restock anything that needed to be restocked, you made sure everything was ready before flipping the 'closed' sign to 'open'. For the next couple of hours, customers came in and bought their flowers; Roses for the young man proposing to his girlfriend of three years, Lilies for the grieving widow of a husband, and even Marigolds for a mother for her daughter's dance recital.
By two p.m., you were bored, on your phone. Scrolling on Tik Tok, watching cute animal videos and old Vines that resurfaced. You were about to go on break when you heard the bell jingle, looking up, you couldn't help but smile. Eddie walked in, heading up to the counter. He tapped his fingers against it, the metal of his rings clacking against the counter rhythmically.
He matched your smile before speaking, "Hello, Y/N."
"Hello, Eddie." You slide your notepad out, "What can I do ya for?"
Eddie looked around the room briefly before turning back to you, "I'd like ten Calla Lilies if you have them."
Your eyes lit up, "Calla Lilies? I love those. They have the meaning of life, and sometimes death. I think we have some." You asked, writing down 'Calla Lily' on the notepad.
"Life and death? I read that they meant magnificent beauty." Eddie spoke and you let out a small chuckle.
You nodded, running a hand through your hair, "That is technically true, during Ancient Greece." Eddie couldn't help but laugh a little, feeling a bit embarrassed. You glanced back down at your notepad, “So... Those Calla Lilies... Do you have a specific color in mind?"
"Mmm, well, what do you think I should choose?" He asked and you raised your head, tilting it to the side slightly.
"What's the occasion?" You asked as Eddie stuffed his hands in his jeans pockets.
"Well, there's this girl, and I thought she might like them," Eddie confessed softly, and you felt your heart stop, your breath hitched. The words he said hit your ears like a truck, hitting you harder than any hammer you ever swung. You felt yourself grow hot, flushing lightly before turning away, and clearing your throat.
"Okay." You replied quickly, still keeping your gaze lowered. You couldn't look at him right now. "Well," You swallowed, "We have these beautiful Midnight Red Calla Lilies. Do you think she'll like them?" You asked, your voice coming out higher pitched than usual, and you heard Eddie sigh.
"...Yeah, I think so," He responded softly. Silence hung between you for several seconds as you wrote his order on the pad, before sliding around the counter to collect the ten Calla Lilies.
Eddie watched as you worked, snipping the stems, wrapping the ten flowers together with white wrapping paper, tapping it off with a red bow before going back to the other side of the counter. Placing the bouquet on the counter you run Eddie up. "Alright," You sighed, "That'll be twenty-five dollars." You spoke and Eddie nodded, handing you exactly a twenty-dollar bill and a five. You put it in the till before printing out the receipt and handing Eddie the flowers.
Holding the flowers, Eddie looked up at you with a smile, "Thank you again, Y/N. I guess I'll go give them to that girl." He spoke, before turning around and leaving the store.
Once he was gone, you let your smile drop, the bell above the door jingling and ringing throughout your mind; Eddie’s words haunting you. You pushed off the counter with your hands, going to head to the back room for a break before you hear the door jingle again. Closing your eyes, you let out a sigh, turning back around. "Hello, welcome to Aroma Therapy, what can I do for... You..?" Looking up, your sentence trailed off as Eddie walked back into the store. You stared at him, your eyebrows furrowed as he walked right up to you, flowers in hand. He smiled, gazing over at you as you looked at him confused. "Eddie? Uh, is there something wrong with the flowers?" You asked, but Eddie shook his head.
"These," He began, before gesturing to the flowers he had just bought moments before, "Are for you." He held them out towards you, and you hesitantly took them into your hands carefully.
"For me?" You repeated. Eddie nodded, giving you another soft smile, and you blushed slightly, looking down at the flowers before looking back at him.
"Yeah, for you." He affirmed, as your eyebrows furrowed.
You brushed your fingertips against the soft dark red petals, looking up at Eddie confused. "I'm confused."
"Well, you didn't take the tip... So, I thought I'd buy you some flowers instead." Eddie explained.
Finally, it all clicked, "Oh, wow." You breathed out, shaking your head and laughing a little. "Thank you, Eddie. That's so sweet of you."
Eddie gave you a grin, "My pleasure," Eddie replied before turning and heading toward the front.
Your eyes then widened, "Wait, Eddie!" You called, making him pause and turn back around, "Calla Lilies with their Greek meaning of magnificent beauty stems back to the old tale of Hercules when he was a baby." You told him, and Eddie gave you an amused look.
"Really?" He asked, and you nodded.
"Yeah," You grinned, before shaking your head, waving your hand, dismissing your conversation, "Sorry, you probably have to go."
Eddie sighed, nodding, "I do, work and all. I have a customer coming in at three."
You gave him a small smile, slightly embarrassed, "Yeah, yeah, I don't want to hold you from that."
"Well," Eddie spoke, walking back towards the door, keeping eye contact as he grinned, "I'll see you later, my lady." He declared before bowing deeply, making you chuckle, and heading out the door.
You let out a sigh, your soft laughter coming to an end as you watched Eddie walk down the sidewalk through the window. Once he was out of view, you looked down at the flowers, smiling softly. Eddie gave you the flowers. Eddie gave you flowers. But, more importantly, Eddie gave you flowers, thinking their meaning was ‘magnificent beauty’. You couldn’t stop smiling for the rest of the day.
For the next couple of weeks, Eddie visited occasionally, usually during your break or his lunch. He'd sit on your stool behind the counter as you sat on the said counter, your sandwich in your hands. You both talked a lot, about your hobbies, jobs, books, movies, and music. Even though it seemed like the two of you were pretty different, you both did have a few things in common. Eddie was fun to talk to, he was funny, smart, and charming. It took you by surprise every time he gave you a compliment, saying how he enjoyed talking to you, and that you were one of his favorite people. You couldn't help but smile, feeling your face flush.
You also enjoyed whenever Eddie would enter your shop, calling you a new nickname every time. You loved it, every nickname or endearment you received made you feel all giddy inside.
"Hey, sugar plum! How are you today?"
"Hey, babe! Love what you did with your hair!"
"Y/N, sweetheart, when was the last time you had a break?"
You never knew someone could make you feel this way. This feeling of butterflies in your stomach, makes your heart beat faster. Every single time he'd come in, it was like you were drowning and he'd pull you to shore.
Even when you got sick, the flu had been going around. Eddie sent you a little postcard. You couldn’t help but sigh at his kindness and selflessness. The postcard brought you such joy, and you re-read it almost every single day. It hangs from your corkboard proudly.
Thinking back to that card, you felt a smile slowly slip on your lips. Eddie was so sweet…
"Y/N? Babe? Are you in there?" You heard Eddie call out to you, making you snap out of your memories and daydream to look over at him.
"Oh, um, sorry. Yes, I'm here." You apologized, going back to your food as Eddie stared at you, his eyes narrowed slightly as his eyebrows slowly furrowed.
He then tilted his head, pursing his lips before speaking, "Are you alright? You kind of left me there for a moment." He asked and you sighed, shaking your head with a smile.
'I could never leave you.' You thought, before actually speaking, "I'm fine, just lost in thought."
Eddie's worried frown turned into a small teasing grin, as he took a bite of his lunch, "What were you thinking about?"
'You.' You shook your head again, waving your hand dismissively, "Nothing cool, don't worry." You took a bite of one of your strawberries, feeling your cheeks warm up a bit. "Anyway, sorry, what- what were you saying?"
Eddie stared at you briefly, the gears in his mind turning before brushing the odd feeling off and speaking, "Just wondering where you got that cute shirt from." He admitted quietly before taking another bite of his lunch. Your flush grew more intense and you nervously chuckled a bit.
'Cute shirt...' You thought. "Hot Topic. I got it there." You answered simply and Eddie nodded. Silence filled the space between you as Eddie continued to eat, and you continued to eat, and after about five minutes, you were done eating, and you tossed your garbage in the trash bin beside you on the floor. Clasping your hands together in your lap, "Could- Could I ask you something?" You asked hesitantly, not looking at him directly.
Eddie stopped chewing his food for a second, swallowing it before answering, "Of course, anything." He reassured you.
You ran your hand through your hair, "How long have you been playing guitar?" The question had been playing throughout your mind for days now, and you hoped to god you didn't sound weird.
Eddie's eyes widened slightly, shifting in his seat on the stool. "Oh. I assume you've heard me play?" He asked, glancing over at you, and you nodded shyly. "Well, I've been playing for a few years." Eddie couldn't help but smirk at you "Like what you hear?" He added, wiggling his eyebrows as you nodded.
"Yeah, you're pretty good." You confirmed, "I can hear you playing from my room."
Eddie's smile dropped slightly, "Oh, am I bothering you? I could sto-"
"No! no..." You exclaimed, cutting him off, "It's fine. I'm not complaining, really." You assured him, making Eddie laugh lightly.
"Alright, well, I'm glad." He replied, before looking pretty shy himself, "It's great, actually."
It was silent once more, as you fiddled with your fingers, "Uh, I have another question." You muttered as Eddie looked up at you from his own hands, giving you a smile.
"You’re full of questions today.” He spoke, teasingly, “Shoot."
You fiddled with the string from your own ripped jeans, pulling at a loose one. "I think I want a tattoo..." You trailed off, cringing inwardly at how off and unsure you sounded.
Eddie's eyes immediately lit up, "What? Really?" You nodded, as Eddie grinned, "That's awesome... But you don't sound so sure." Eddie noted, causing you to give him a sheepish smile.
"Not completely sure..." You confessed, "But I do think I want one."
"Well, do you have any idea of what you want?" Eddie questioned, and you shrugged one shoulder.
"Flowers, for sure." You blurted out, "But, I want something along with it, you know? I just don't know what."
Eddie pursed his lips in thought, nodding as he glanced at the floor. "Well, would you like to come by the shop tomorrow, maybe we can plan something out for you? And if you think of something, I can rearrange my schedule."
You nodded, feeling more sure of yourself, "Yeah, that sounds great. Thank you." A nervous smile grows on your face.
"Great, uh, cool, yeah... Cool. It's a date then." Eddie fumbled slightly as you took a deep breath at his comment. Was this going to be a date? Was Eddie asking you out on a date? Eddie noticed your reaction and laughed softly. "Is that okay? Is that too soon? Shit, this isn't my strong suit. I guess I should have planned better than that." He mumbled to himself out loud as he looked away from you a bit panicked.
You hadn't seen him so nervous before, he was usually pretty confident. His stuttering and fumbling answered all your questions as you felt your heartbeat begin to speed up, and butterflies erupt and flutter in your stomach. His whole demeanor changes from playful and joking to nervous and embarrassed.
"Eds, chill out. I'm totally cool with this." You stated, swinging your legs slightly from your spot up on the counter "It would technically be called an appointment, but I think it sounds great actually... A date." You smiled timidly, chuckling lightly, causing his entire body to relax almost instantly. Eddie let out a breath, nodding his head slowly, a faint smile forming across his face as he glanced over at you, his gaze lingering a little longer on you. "So..." You trailed off, "It's a date?"
Eddie nodded, "It's a date." He grinned widely, making you laugh lightly, and his heart began to race as his eyes met yours. 'Why does she affect me this way?'
"That's great." You smiled, "I'm excited."
~~~
You were ecstatic. Tonight was the night of your tattoo date with Eddie. You had to finish up your shift at four, which meant you had approximately twenty minutes until you could leave and head over next door. So you helped any remaining customers as you impatiently stared at the clock on the wall. You zipped around the room when grabbing flowers and tapped your foot when behind the counter. You felt a bit nervous, oh, but who were you kidding? You were beyond nervous. You had been dreaming about this for a while, the tattoo and a date with Eddie. Finally, you let out a sigh of relief as the last customer left. Checking the clock on the wall, and then down at your watch, you continued to tap your foot.
You had talked to your parents about the idea of the tattoo, having spent most of the rest of the afternoon thinking more about it. They were alright with it, just as long as you were the one paying for it. You had saved up your share of the money from working with your parents for years, never really having anything to buy besides basic needs and necessities. So this was a big purchase for you, and you were excited about it. This was art, something that would be on your skin for the rest of your life.
You began to clean up the store as you tried not to get too distracted by thoughts of Eddie, put up your apron, and grabbed your jacket and bag. Waving goodbye to your mom as she took over the counter, you left the building, practically speed-walking to the store next door, which didn’t take long. Taking a breath, you spotted Eddie on the other side of the glass. He was at the counter, helping a customer, so after a deep breath, you entered the parlor. Eddie's head turned to the sound of the door, his polite smile widening ever-so-slightly as he saw you walk over.
You waited a bit of a distance away, looking around the parlor at all the art and tattoo designs that were framed and hung along the walls. It was a lot darker than your little flower shop, so many different colors and designs were painted here, all combining and merging into each other as they mixed together into an amazing array of colors and patterns. There were so many different kinds and shapes, some animals, some flowers, some stars, and some even just shapes that resembled human figures.
The customer left shortly afterward, leaving Eddie alone again with you. Eddie leaned against the counter, his palms resting against it. "Hey, honey, you ready for a tattoo?" He asked you curiously, his smile turning into a smirk.
Your cheeks flushed slightly, nodding as Eddie walked around the counter. "Yeah, I'm ready," You let out a small shaky sigh, making the young tattooist tilt his head to the side.
"Are you sure?" He asked, giving you a reassuring smile, "You don't have to if you don't want to."
You shook your head, sure of yourself, "No, I'm sure, I'm just a bit... Nervous." You admitted, biting your lip nervously.
Eddie chuckled lightly, shaking his head as he moved some stray hairs away from your face, tucking them behind your ear, "Don't worry, I'll be right there with you every step of the way, okay?" Eddie reassured you, smiling warmly at you, and you returned the expression, nodding your head, feeling your cheeks flush as your heart skipped a beat. Walking you over to the chair, you took a seat as Eddie got his tools ready. You watched as he collected the tattoo gun, inks, and whatever else, before turning to you. "So, what did you have in mind? I know you said flowers..." He trailed off, allowing you to answer.
"I thought I'd let you choose." You answered, and Eddie looked kind of taken aback.
"What? Why?" He questioned, raising an eyebrow, clearly confused.
You shrugged a little, "Well, I want you to choose the animal I get. I've seen your work before, I know how talented you are. And I trust you." You explained, making Eddie raise an eyebrow.
"Really? You're alright with me doing that?" He asked a bit skeptically, and you nodded nonetheless.
"Yeah, I trust you, Eddie."
A soft blush appeared on his cheek as he gave you a grin, "Thanks." He responded softly, "But, I'd feel bad if I chose an animal and you hated it."
You shook your head, "Unlikely, I like to live dangerously, but if it'll make you feel better, we can use an animal generator." You offered, pulling out your phone from your bag on your lap.
"That's pretty random." Eddie chuckled, watching as you looked up a random animal generator, before clicking the 'generate' button. Instantly, after clicking, 'bat' popped up, making you smile. Looking up at Eddie, you showed him your phone.
"Flowers and bats." You confirmed as Eddie ran a hand through his hair, looking at your phone and then up at you.
"That's a funny coincidence," He spoke, before pulling up the sleeve of his leather jacket, revealing the many bats tattooed on his arm.
You gazed upon the bat tattooed on Eddie's arm, and your mouth fell open slightly. You reached out and gently stroked the pattern on the flying bats on his arm. "Did that hurt? When you got it?" You asked softly, bringing your hand back into your lap after realizing that you were just petting Eddie's arm for way too long.
Eddie's blush grew, and he nodded, "Uh, yeah... Kinda." He mumbled quietly, looking away quickly.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to... Um..." Your voice trailed off as you scratched the back of your neck sheepishly, only for Eddie to look at you, shaking his head as he shrugged off his leather jacket and jean vest, leaving him in his D&D shirt.
"No, it's fine. You can touch me whenever you want." He answered nonchalantly, and with that confession, Eddie froze briefly, as did you, before he cleared his throat, "Uh, what colors were you thinking?"
~~~
It hurt a lot. After a bit of debation, you and Eddie chose your forearm. You were already in hour one, shutting your eyes as you tried to control your breath while taking a few peaks at the tattoo as Eddie was scratching it in. Eddie came up with the design, and you loved it. It was a cute bat, its wings wrapped around itself with different flowers surrounding it. The bat was in between realistic and cartoon, and it was perfect. Unknowingly, the tattoo, besides holding meaning towards your job and your love for flowers, also reminded you of Eddie; which honestly was a nice bonus.
After a little while, you began to get used to the pain, opening your eyes to watch as Eddie began adding the colors you wanted. It was sort of hypnotizing, seeing him work. How he had such a skill, and how effortlessly he was able to make every stroke and line perfect. His movements were fluid, smooth, powerful, and yet, gentle. It made your heart flutter every time Eddie glanced over at you, making sure you were alright. You felt a slight tugging sensation in your chest whenever he looked at you, a small smile playing on his lips. You found yourself getting lost in him, noticing how he'd stick out the tip of his tongue when concentrating, his eyes squinting slightly, even randomly softly singing along to whatever song was on the radio. It was cute. Really cute.
Eddie finished putting in the color for the flowers and then started filling out the rest of the details and shading, his hands moving swiftly. You smiled at him and admired his skills. The tattoo looks incredible on your arm, and it was a great start to a new chapter in your life. You glanced over at the clock on the wall across from you; almost three hours had passed,  your butt was sore from sitting for so long, and some of your joints hurt; you both did take a break, but it was so worth it.
Wiping away the extra color and blood, Eddie turned off the gun, before looking down at his work proudly. "I think this is the best work I've done in a while." He remarked, letting out a soft chuckle, "And I've been working here for a couple of years now."
"Yeah, it looks really awesome," You commented, smiling brightly at him as he wiped his forehead with the back of his hand. "Thank you, Eds." You added on, and Eddie blushed lightly, clearing his throat awkwardly.
"Anytime, Y/N." He told you with a smile, "I'd love to give you more tattoos if you ever want more." He spoke, before beginning to clean the tattoo and wrapping it with a clear covering.
"I'd love that." You muttered before Eddie then began to teach you how to take care of the tattoo, and you learned quickly. Eddie was patient with you and made sure you knew exactly what you needed to do and what not to do, which was something you appreciated greatly.
After paying, you and Eddie stepped out of the parlor, Eddie standing in front of you. You felt a small breeze flow by you, brushing your hair in your face, as Eddie tried to fix his bangs. He then stuffed his hands in his pockets, looking at you with a small smile as you rocked on the balls of your feet, glancing around at the stores and shops around you. He didn’t know why you were nervous or anxious, but he could see you bite your bottom lip and fidget with your fingers a little bit, so he figured it had something to do with something. He, himself, was a bit nervous too, after all, he still hadn't gotten the courage to ask you out on a date. A real one.
"Do you want to go on a date with me?"
"Are you free Saturday?"
You both said at the same time, both surprising each other and making one another laugh. You smiled sheepishly, feeling yourself growing more nervous by the second, but Eddie just laughed a little.
"Jinx?" You shrugged one shoulder, as Eddie smirked.
Taking a chance, he took a step closer, "Sheesh… Is it really a jinx if we didn't really say the same thing?" He asked, watching as you let out a breathy laugh.
"You still owe me a soda." You lightly argued, as Eddie playfully rolled his eyes.
"Fine," He sighed, "If you insist." He took another step closer, you could smell his cologne, the weed he smoked during the break you and him had, and his mint shampoo, "I'll pick you up Saturday, next week. Maybe I’ll even treat you to a Starbucks cake pop." He suggested teasingly, "How does that sound?" He leaned forward slightly, and you nodded a little, biting your lip.
He stepped forward again, giving you an innocent look, and then kissed you gently on the cheek, making your cheeks instantly flush, and then pulling away from you. Before you could recover completely, he was walking backward, a soft smirk on his face, blush on his cheeks, heading back into the store. You stared at him through the glass window, stunned. Then you shook your head, trying to get your brain into gear and get back to work. You couldn't help but replay that kiss in your head.
Walking back to the flower shop, you rushed inside, before running up the spiral staircase and heading inside your home on the second floor. Sprinting past your confused parents eating a late lunch, you ran into your room, shutting your door. Leaning up against it, you let out a shaky breath, your chest going up and down as your heart pounded against your ribcage. You slowly slid down the door, a giddy smile creeping on your face as you raised your hands to cover your warm cheeks. You giggled a little before sliding completely onto the floor. Your knees curled up to your chest as you pulled them close to your body, hugging your legs close to your chest. You stayed there for a moment until your breathing returned to normal and the butterflies in your stomach calmed down, allowing you to breathe normally once more.
Sitting up, you crawled into bed, staring up at the ceiling as you thought over your day. So much had happened today. You'd gotten your first tattoo. Your first date... And technically not your first kiss, but Eddie kissed you nonetheless. With his soft lips pressed against your cheek. At that moment, you knew. This was it. You finally realized. You were head over heels in love with Eddie Munson. You were pretty sure.
Y’know, if I ever had to choose between having Eda Clawthorne or Raine Whispers as an enemy, I’d choose Eda.
Eda has a soft heart. She’s very forgiving, collects strays, is genuinely good with and likes children, teens and creatures. She’s really fucking patient with people (if not processes or herself anyway), has a lot of compassion even for people who treat her like shit. She’s self sacrificing and can be persuaded out of the worst of that particular strength because she has the wisdom and heart to let herself. Eda has…a lot of mercy in her. She doesn’t need to have it, and perhaps even shouldn’t because of how she’s been treated. But in the same way that someone like Hunter starves for life and bleeds rebellion and reckless love, Eda has mercy.
Raine is a lot of very good things too. Heartbreakingly brave, for one. Charismatic, funny, competent—but they’re also a stone cold, really efficient double agent who survived under Belos and even Terra Snapdragon’s nose for a while. They are the steel spine of the resistance. They are capable of making the ugly bloody, hard choices in service of a successful rebellion.
They were able to soldier past the horrific situation with Hunter—or risk severely compromising the mission. They started up the resistance with almost no support and gave themselves up to a grim death willingly with no expectation of quarter from Darius or Eber. They concocted a plan to invade the Emperors mind. They had the fortitude to look Eda, someone they LOVE, in the eye and ask her if she’d sacrifice a principle she held as dearly as her own identity.
Everyone has had to bear up under the differing burdens of rebellion against Belos. But I do think Raine’s could stand to be discussed a bit more because they’re fascinating, and so hardcore and in some ways quite brutal—not just with the stakes, consequences of mistakes (hollow mind for example) but with their own heart. Raine is a good person, a heroic person. And the choices they feel they have to make, the stuff they chose to carry because perhaps no one else could are crushing.
They did all of this while actively playing the fool for Belos. Pretending to be a puppet.
All this on a character whose design suggests gentleness, an easy warm smile on a slight, gently spoken figure who abjures the spotlight.
So there’s something bone deep and disturbing that the person who was willing to go down with their lover back to back in an act of rebellion that they requested her aid on turned into a literal puppet by the power of a god child—only for their enemy, the political antagonist, the monster they’ve been directly evading comes once again to take actual, full and unbending possession of them.
Belos owes a massive karmic debt to MANY. But Eda and Hunter have gentle hearts. Raine im not so sure if gentle is a word for them, and where an enemy might expect hesitation or mercy from the other, Raine seems the sort to be capable of making—and executing—on the hardest things.
Obviously they all have "dragon" somewhere in the name. All of the lizards are from Indonesia, where Kendra's family is from, while the flower and millipede were chosen because they can come in shades of purple... And I think they're cool. And Don is a botany nerd so maybe they can try to be friends ONE OF THEM HAS POISON IN IT how rad is that??? I love this sorta thing because I always end up learning about cool new animals
Don't worry about the details of how it happened. Maybe she was at a zoo or something like that, doesn't matter, this is purely about what would be most fitting for her as a character design- and theme-wise
Designs for my team for Explorers of the Spirit: Team Alpine (Emil and Snapdragon). I simultaneously love and hate this game (due to how unfair it is).
SPOILERS FOR EOTS UNDER THE CUT
One's a Darkrai reincarnation and the other is a Turtwig/Axew crossbreed. They're both absolute messes. (Snapdragon isn't technically a cross-breed in canon, but I thought it'd be cool.)
