Thinking about the world that starts to take shape around Tirias's refusal to travel outside of majority-rooted areas. There's an implication that she has been there and got burned so bad that she'll never go back. She can hear but she can't speak and communicates primarily through sign language. Despite the fact that most other species do learn Osbok sign language in school, there's a much stronger culture of sign language usage in rooted areas than beyond them. You travel through the Forests, you know you'll be taken care of and taken seriously. You step outside of them, who knows what'll happen. Humans are already intimidated by her height, and asking them to use their half-remembered SOSL is apparently a step too far.
Oh, to be Ysa, even more intimidating but somehow able to put people at ease with just thons voice.
Which makes me wonder: is there a fear among human societies that the culture of the Forests - which itself is not homogenous - will take over the rest of the world? There must be on some level but it has to be harder for it to coalesce because there's an enormous population of roots that live outside of the forests, and have for pretty much ever, and nothing has happened to "human" cultures except that a lot of them also have roots participating in them, not to mention nawwenn. Some people think they're playing the long game - they live twice as long as humans, you know - but I would suspect your average human knows enough roots to reject that particular conspiracy.
So then, out of all the other species in Winchester, why has Dez only met humans?

do we think that herbert really killed rufus, gang. is there a general consensus on that. personally i think he was too dedicated to playing the long con with dan to risk screwing up his relationship that early on. ... but then again, i think “kill his cat -> pretend it happened by accident -> bring it back to life as a ‘present’-> win his goodwill forever” is a pretty herbert-tier strategy. idk! jury’s out on this one!!

Okay the amount of people I see on the internet who don't know the number of openings the typical afab body has is concerning me. So I'm gonna ask tumblr:
No cheating, honest answers/guesses only!
Vocabulary
AFAB: Assigned Female at Birth. The body and reproductive organs usually associated with women
AMAB: Assigned Male at Birth. The body and reproductive organs usually associated with men

very self indulgently thinking about the COLA club kids playing dnd. my first instinct is that luke would dm. I know his speech would make that a little tricky, but humour me and pretend everyone knows enough sign for it to work.
there’s certain characters who I think would very much avoid classes that are too similar to them irl. I don’t think dax would play a druid, for example: he can literally turn into animals irl. I’m inclined to say he would take on a healer role to benefit the rest of the group. perhaps an oath of the ancients paladin, since he’s a protective person and cares about conservation.
on the same note, mia would absolutely not take a healer role— I actually think she’d avoid casting entirely and go berserker barbarian, although maybe she would have to compete with lisa for the role! I think lisa might ultimately go for something with a little more finesse, like a swashbuckler rogue maybe, but she would probably also avoid playing a caster.
gideon is absolutely playing a bard, I have no doubt of this, and singing loudly at the table to annoy lees every single time he casts. I think he’s be surprisingly good at it though, with lots of clever spell use at clutch moments, even though he chose it for the sheer potential chaos he could cause.
clive on the other hand absolutely would play to his strengths in real life and go with something like an artificer, or a gunslinger fighter where he can invent things in-universe that he’s conceived of that would be war crimes irl.
I don’t think spook would be invited, but he’d also probably pick something that allows for lots of illusion spells, just like real life. I think he’d want to be a charisma caster rather than intelligence based, and he is a little edgelord sometimes so I’m leaning towards hexblade warlock, though sorcerer might also work.
