He have no idea what does babies like, for thousands of years he had been alone, he had forgotten how to take care of babies. It'll took him quite awhile to finally be able to handle you.

So overall, he is kinda not too good caretaker, but hey he tried his best at least.

Though when you turned back to normal in his arms the next morning, you will get a clingy af Demon because he missed the adult you and he can finally rest without hearing a baby's cry for hours.

He actually fed you well too, despite him not being able like to cook for himself, and don't worry he didn't cook the food he feed you. He doesn't really trust himself for cooking for you when your body is more fragile.

The next morning when you turned back, he is so relieved you're okay. Hugs and cuddles with him in the morning, lazy morning with him because he needed that rest <3

Overall, he is a good caretaker.

He is not gonna sleep until you sleep first, and it took goddamn hours for him to manage to get you to bed, and what's funny is that he fell asleep first.

And you soon after followed him, into the dream world. In his arms.

The next morning he woke up first, and saw you had turned back normal, "Oh, BABEEE WELCOME BACKKK!!" Is the first thing he said as he hugs you quite tight in his arms.

He is with you yes, but he's going to keep an eye on you, while he's looking at his phone too. Once you are asleep, he would gently pat your head as he laid beside you.

When you turned back in the morning, he will sigh in relief that you're okay, he'll pull you into his arms.

He is having a staring contest with you, you're on the floor looking up at him, and him looking down at you on the floor.

"Oh no."

Is what he said before picking you up and tried to figure out how long does the effect will last. Once he found out it'll last for 24 hours, he doesn't really know what to do.

He could entertain you with his shikigamis, so overall, the one that's doing the care is his shikigamis. But he is going to be there for you,

One time you're pulling on the hem of his pants, he looked over at the small figure behind him. Humming softly, "Hm? What's wrong?"

If you wanted him to company you, he'll melt. The way you ask for his company is so cute. He would drop whatever he's doing and went to company you.

Knowing that as soon as you hit the bed, you're fast asleep. He was in awe when that happened, he'll pull up his blanket and look over at the clock, it is almost 11 pm and he felt quite bad for making you slept quite late.

He barely done anything as a caretaker honestly, but hey, he is going to be there whenever you need his company.

Once morning arrived, he is asleep next to you. You are the one that's awake first, you stared at his sleeping figure before snuggling close to him, he was quite surprised at the sudden movement, but when he realized it's you he'll hug you close to him. Chuckling away before whispering an apology.

"I'm sorry, It won't happen again, I swear"

Adam rambled on nervously about Paloma's snack for about the fifth time as Cece followed him into the kitchen, nodding along to every word he was saying. She knew he was nervous to leave Paloma alone so she tried her best to seem interested even though he's repeated the same thing for what seemed like the millionth time.

As Adam rambled on, he suddenly stopped mid-sentence, an embarrassed flush creeping onto his cheeks. He realized he had been repeating himself, and Cece had been patiently listening the whole time.

"Sorry," he chuckled nervously, running a hand through his hair. "I guess I'm just a bit on edge with leaving Paloma alone. I want everything to be perfect for her."

Cece shook her head in understanding, "No don't even apologize! I appreciate it, I do tend to forget about stuff. And I get it, the first time is always the hardest."

Adam sighed, feeling grateful for her understanding. "Thanks, Cece. I know I can be a bit... overprotective sometimes."

"It's a good quality, especially when it comes to being a dad," she replied warmly. "I get it, I go crazy for my little brother. I'm pretty sure I would commit a crime for him," you joked playfully.

Adam chuckled, the tension in the room easing as he appreciated Cece's sense of humor. "Yeah, me too. Paloma is my world, and I'd do anything to make sure she's safe and happy."

Cece smiled warmly, a genuine warmth in her eyes. "I can tell you're a great dad, Adam. Paloma is lucky to have you." Her smile carried her feelings and she saw herself in Adam as he talked about Paloma. She was the same with her brother and her little nephew and niece.

His expression softened, and he returned the smile. "Thanks, Cece. That means a lot."

Comfort silence filled the kitchen before Adam got a phone call and cursed under his breath, "Shit, I'm late."

Cece watched as Adam's expression shifted from one of warmth to a sudden realization that he was running late. She could sense the urgency in his voice as he cursed softly.

"I gotta get going but call me if anything happens. And if I don't answer, call Luca or mom. Oh, you don't have my mom's number, let me give it to you in case-"

Cece let out a soft laugh as she put a hand on his shoulder in comfort, "It's fine, Adam. Don't worry I'm sure I'll get a hold of you, alright? Just relax and get to your meeting in one piece."

He took a breath and then laughed along with her, even though there was still some anxiety running through his veins. He nodded, "Alright, sorry about that, you're right." This was part of the process, it would be okay.

"Don't apologize, you're okay." Cece still had an understanding expression on her face as Adam took another deep breath before walking to the door and taking his keys.

"Alright, I'll see you in a couple hours. Paloma's sleeping right now but you remember-" He saw her expression and then let out an anxious sigh before nodding. "You got it?"

"I got it, boss." You joked playfully as he smiled. "Bye,"

"Bye." He took one more look around his apartment before leaving the apartment.

As Adam left for his meeting, Cece stood in the doorway, watching him until he disappeared from view. She then turned her attention back to the apartment, a newfound sense of responsibility settling in her heart. Taking a deep breath, she walked over to check on Paloma, who was still peacefully sleeping in her room.

The apartment was quiet, save for the gentle sounds of Paloma's breathing. Cece couldn't help but smile as she looked down at the sleeping toddler.

A FEW WEEKS LATER

──

Adam walked into the apartment after a long and grueling practice, his body feeling the weight of exhaustion. The familiar scent of home welcomed him as he closed the door behind him. He let out a sigh of relief, glad to be back in the comfort of his own space.

He entered the living room, he noticed the soft glow of dimmed lights and the sound of gentle music playing in the background. It was a scene he had grown accustomed to since Cece had become a part of their lives.

He made his way to the kitchen, where he found Cece cleaning Paloma's dishes. She looked up and smiled warmly when she saw him. "Hey, Adam. How was practice?"

She could tell he was tired, he has been for the entirety of the week. She respected how hard he worked at practice and how he still had energy for Paloma, even after an exhausting practice.

Adam stretched his tired muscles and replied, "Long and exhausting, per usual, but it's done. How's Paloma?"

Cece's smile widened. "She's been an sweetheart. We played and watched a Barbie movie, had dinner, now she's asleep in bed."

Adam felt a sense of relief wash over him. He had been anxious about leaving Paloma in someone else's care, but seeing how well Cece was handling everything put his mind at ease. Right as he was about to respond, the familiar cry of Paloma rang through the apartment.

Cece, out of habit, immediately dropped the dishes into the sink and walked out of the kitchen before Adam spoke, "Cece, it's fine. Let me go see what's up."

"Oh, alright-"

This had been a problem for the past week, Paloma throwing tantrums right after being put to sleep. Adam had tried everything he could think of to soothe her, but nothing seemed to work.

He made his way to Paloma's bedroom and found her sitting up in her crib, tears streaming down her cheeks. "Hey, sweetheart, what's wrong?" he asked softly as he lifted her into his arms.

Paloma clung to him, her tiny hands gripping his shirt as she continued to cry.

Adam's heart broke at his daughter's cries. He held her close and whispered soothingly, "It's okay, Paloma. Daddy's here, and you're okay." His arms were sore from practice but he couldn't get himself to leave her as she continued to cry loudly.

He gently rocked her back and forth, his heart aching as he tried to comfort her. Paloma's cries gradually subsided, and she nestled against his chest, her breathing slowly evening out. He didn't want to put her back in the crib because he didn't want to her wake up again and cry, so he stayed like that for a few seconds even if he was exhausted.

Cece walked in quietly and Adam put his finger on his finger to singal to be quiet. Paloma made a soft noise and Adam let out a sigh of exhaustion but to his surprise, she didn't start crying again as she saw Cece.

Instead, she sat up in Adam's arms and reached out to Cece, making a soft, wanting sound. Cece couldn't help but let out a laugh, her heart warmed by the sight of Paloma's tiny outstretched arms.

Adam slowly gave Paloma to Cece and she immediately held onto her, putting her head on her shoulder and her eyes immediately shut.

Adam watched with a mixture of relief and admiration as Paloma snuggled into Cece's arms, her cries now fully replaced by contentment. He had been worried about leaving her alone with the Cece, but this moment reassured him that he had made the right choice.

Cece held Paloma gently, her heart melting at the trust Paloma was placing in her. She swayed softly, creating a soothing rhythm that seemed to lull Paloma back into a peaceful slumber.

Adam couldn't help but smile at the sight. His daughter was finally finding comfort and security in the presence of another person. He made a gesture to the door to silently say he was going to leave and Cece gave him a sweet smile and a thumbs up with her free hand. As he left the room, his heart swelled at the new memory. He felt himself get used to Cece and Paloma together, it was a new welcome sight.

After he took a shower, he walked into the kitchen and he heard Paloma's bedroom door open quietly and then he turned to see Cece. She caught his gaze and smiled before walking up to him.

Adam felt comfortable as he saw Cece approaching him from the hallway. There was something comforting about her presence, something that put him at ease. He couldn't help but return her smile with a warm one of his own.

"Hey," she greeted softly, her voice carrying a sense of warmth and ease. "Paloma is back to sleep. I think she just needed a little reassurance."

"Good, I'm glad. Hopefully she sleeps the whole night." Adam sighed and he still sounded tired after his shower. You couldn't help but feel bad for him, you knew how much sports and a career could take a toll on a person. She couldn't even imagine on top of all of that, having a toddler to take care of. "And thanks, Cece. You're great with her."

She waved off his gratitude. "It's my pleasure, Adam. I enjoy spending time with her, she's such a sweet girl and she makes my job so much easier."

He nodded in agreement as he listened to her compliment. "She can be handful sometimes, but she's the best thing that's ever happened to me." There was a softness in his eyes as he spoke about his daughter, a deep love that was evident in every word.

Cece smiled warmly, her heart warmed by the genuine affection Adam had for Paloma. "It's clear how much you love her, Adam. It's beautiful to see."

Adam's gaze met hers, and for a moment, time seemed to slow down as they shared a silent connection. There was something about Cece that drew him in, something he couldn't quite put into words. He immediately internally yelled at himself, he couldn't ─ not with his nanny.

He cleared his throat, breaking the momentary silence. "Well, I'm glad you're here," he admitted, his eyes still fixed on her. "It's nice to have some company too."

Cece's smile brightened, and she took a step closer to him. "I'm here whenever you need me, Adam. For both of you." Her eyes widened as Adam looked back at her and she suddenly felt self-conscious. "Like, in a friend way. Of course," she laughed nervously.

Adam couldn't help but notice the sudden shift in Cece's demeanor, and he couldn't help but chuckle softly at her nervous laughter. He appreciated the clarification, even though part of him was tempted to explore where that unspoken connection might lead to.

"Of course, Cece," he replied with a warm smile. "Well, you're my first official friend in Ohio. Well, other than the team."

She returned the smile, "I'm honored, Adam." She laughed at that and he joined in a second later. The laughter filled the kitchen before she felt her phone buzz in her pocket.

"Oh shoot, I gotta get going. I have to pick up my friend,"

"No problem, Cece," Adam replied, his smile still lingering. "Thanks for taking care of Paloma tonight. And get home safe, text me when you get home." He wanted to self-palm himself after that one but Cece just smiled warmly at that, making all the anxiety melt away.

"I will, thank you. See you Monday," Cece replied, her warm smile making Adam's heart skip a beat. She waved goodbye before leaving, leaving Adam alone in the kitchen with a new sense of warmth and connection he hadn't felt in a while.

« I swear to God, I'm never going to forgive you for making my phone ring every two seconds. » Just as you finished your sentence the Instagram notification sound was heard. Timothée grinned looking at how you took a deep breath and started biting your lips. « I'm going to kill you in your sleep, I swear, » you mumbled.

« You just need to turn off the notifications, dummy, » he chuckled taking your phone in his hands, going to the settings, and turning off your Instagram notifications. « Even my grandma knows that, » Tim murmured giving it back to you.

« I know how to turn off my notifications, » you said looking down at your phone. Timothée smiled and leaned to catch your gaze.

« Yeah, I'm sure about that.» You rolled your eyes and scoffed. Tim imitated your reaction in a more dramatic tone.

« Silly, » you shook his shoulder. He smiled while looking outside of the car. « We have to be prepared for our little performance. »

« We are naturals, we don't need to be prepared. » Your eyes stayed on him for a few seconds, a smile slowly growing on your face.

Honestly, you didn't need to put in much effort. You were both great actors and everything was coming out so naturally. Luca used to say that you two were definitely together in another life or a parallel universe because there was no way you could act so convincingly. You could still hear Timothée leaving that awkward laugh that made you always smile.

Maybe it was just the way you looked at each other. When his green orbs met yours, they would always stay there for a few seconds like electrons and protons met but were forced to separate for reasons that no human brain could apprehend. You were very magnetic for each other and that was always there even if you were acting or you were just out for coffee.

« We are here, » the driver said.

« Thanks, » you both told him. Timothée motioned his hand for you to stay at your place.

« I'm opening your door, » he said. « Darling, » he raised his brows and smiled at you cheekily. You grinned at yourself fixing your clothes. He opened the door and slightly bowed to you before giving you his hand to help.

« Too much, » you mouthed to him and raised your brows.

« Sorry I have manners, » Tim leaned closer to whisper to your ear.

« Sorry I have manners, » you mimicked him.

« Oh, shut up, » he covered your face with his hand before wrapping his hand around your waist and pressing his lips on your cheek. You laughed touching the hand that was around you.

You posed in front of the photographers, both together and separately. After that, you were still together. You were magnets after all.

« Oh man, » Timothée said his arm around your neck, his fingers falling on your collarbone. « I forgot how awful the food is here. »

« Burgers on me later, » you said. Timothée curled up his nose into a smile. « What, you saw Christian Bale and you're going to fangirl again? », you asked.

« No! », Timothée shook his head. « Though, » he moved his hand while speaking, « there is absolutely nothing wrong about fangirling over Christian Bale. »

« Look, » you replied in a more serious tone, « it's fine fangirling over Christian Bale, but if you do it more than three times, » you side-eyed him, « people will start suspecting that you're in love with him. »

« Very supportive, » he made you chuckle.

« That's me, » you forced a smile as he lightly ruffled your hair.

« Hey, you know what we should do? We should have a quick look around at the place. »

« Oh! », you smiled biting your lips. « Yes, we should definitely do that. »

You and Timothée started walking around the hotel, laughing at random comments you were both making. Timothée didn't set you free, his arm still wrapped around you. But no complaint was made by your side since you pretty much enjoyed it.

He smelled so nice. It reminded you of something so familiar, like your home. It was vanilla mixed with oranges and cloves and something warm. You couldn't stop smiling. Timothée was making you feel so serene.

« Oh my God, » he said as he tangled his fingers around your palm, pulled you by the hand, and led you to the end of the corridor where was a pianoforte. He quickly took a seat in front of it and glanced at the other way concerned.

« Play something... if you can, of course, » you raised your brow. He clenched his jaw to prevent his grin and tried to sound smooth.

« You think I can't? », he asked. You shrugged taking a seat next to him.

« I don't know, maybe your piano skills have faded over the years... »

« Wanna bet? », he bit his lips. You smiled looking into his eyes. You were so close, you've never been this close outside of work. That was probably the only time Timothée didn't stay longer in your eyes, his stare falling immediately to your lips. His mouth half-opened but then shook his head and sat better. You just smiled and looked down at your lap.

You couldn't have imagined that little moment between you, that spark jumping from his eyes to your lips.

« Bach is an amateur in front of me, » Tim said as his fingers pressed against the piano keys, playing a sweet melody. Your head slowly fell on his shoulder hearing the magic coming out of the instrument. Every now and then he turned his head in your direction, looking at the way, you couldn't stop staring at him or glaring at you when you pressed a random note and messed with his song.

« Timothée, » you said once he was over.

« What? », he smiled.

« I feel like I'm monopolizing you, » you chuckled. He unconsciously smiled back at you.

« I wish you did, » he bit his lips a little.

« Oh, come on, » you shook his shoulder. « Let's go get drinks. »

« Fine, » he said.

You returned back to the main room where almost everyone was gathered. You stopped to talk to some people. Timothée after a while tapped your back.

« I'm getting us drinks, » he told you. You nodded happily.

But your laugh slowly faded away as you noticed Paolo staring at you while talking to Steven Spielberg and his wife, who were clearly looking around trying to find a way out. Your lips were pressed together as he looked at you with a smirk and then his eyes moved to Timothée who was walking away, the smirk being replaced by a dead-face look.

You hated that after everything, he still had an effect on you. And you hated, even more, yourself for letting him under your skin. You were so fucking blinded and stupid, that didn't end things earlier. Paolo kindly excused himself and moved towards you, pulling lightly your forearm and separating you from the group of people. You didn't want to make a scene in front of them, so you let him lead you to a corner.

« Oh God, what sins am I paying for? », you looked up. Paolo froze for a moment.

« Hi, Y/N, » he said.

« Hi, » you said back and breathed heavily.

« You should've won, you deserved it, » he nodded eagerly. He had lost as well, but you didn't respond. « But you know that only being nominated it's an achievement by itself. » You smiled.

« Yes, that's funny because I was worried my career was going to be destroyed after a romance movie. »

« Y/N... », he looked at you pleadingly.

« What do you want Paolo? I thought I made it pretty clear that I want nothing to do with you. »

« You can't just do this to me, Y/N, » Paolo shook his head. « You can't destroy all these times we spent together in just one moment. »

« It was me who destroyed our relationship in just one moment? », you asked calmly. « You are a fucking asshole. »

« Okay, I-I'll take it on me. It was all my fault, but it was just one moment of weakness. I was completely pissed, I didn't know where the fuck I was or what I was doing, believe me. » You clenched your jaw in your attempt to keep a straight face. « Please, forgive me, and let's forget this ever happened. »

« I believe you and I forgive you for kissing that random girl, » you said. Paolo smiled thankfully and tried to close the distance, but your hand separated you. « But I will never forgive you for the way you treated me. « I-I'm going to get some air, » you moved away from him. You got out of the hotel, your lungs filling with oxygen again as the wind pulled your hair. You walked down the stairs, your head pounding as if someone was hitting you with a hammer, and sat down. You pulled your legs closer to your core and buried your head between your legs.

Timothée was standing still for a few seconds, his eyes in the direction where you disappeared. He wasn't sure if he should follow or not, but he knew one thing. He wanted to be with you and you had to know this.

So, he took the direction with uncertainty, going out of the hotel to find you. He saw you sitting there all alone and without speaking, sat beside you.

You tilted your head to the side until it touched his chest, tears falling down your eyes as you shook your forehead against his warmth. Timothée left his glass to the stairs next to yours and pulled you closer holding your back and caressing your hair lovingly.

« Y/N, » he held your head. Your gaze couldn't meet his but he still shoved the tears away from your cheeks and leaned his head to your side so he could catch your eyes. « It hurts seeing you cry for him. »

« I'm not crying for him, Timothée, » you shook your head pressing your lips so you didn't spread any more tears. « I wasted so much time being unhappy. »

« Don't think about that. Everything's over. » You smiled softly and nodded.

« Yes, » you said. Timothée smiled back at you.

« Can I make you a question? », he asked.

« Yes, » you laughed this time. Tim breathed out heavily and looked away.

« While I was waiting for our drinks, I watched your interview. »

« My interview? », you shook your head smiling as much as the situation let you again.

« Okay, » he pressed his eyes shut to take courage and then opened them again. "If the answer is no, let's just say I'm too drunk, okay?"

« Okay, » you said unsurely.

« Can I kiss you? » You froze for a few seconds and stayed there looking at him. « Oh fuck, » he pulled his hair back, his whole face turning red. « Y/N, I- » Without finishing his sentence you pressed his lips with yours.

Your eyes were sealed tight as you kissed slowly, lips brushing against each other, biting and licking the skin. Once you pulled back you both stared at the space between the two of you breathing.

Timothée chuckled causing you to smile too as he leaned to kiss you again, feeling like he didn't have enough of you already. He held your neck as you tangled your fingers between his curls.

You smiled against his lips as you backed away, with him trying to chase your lips. He pressed one last kiss to the side of your mouth, leaving a 'mwah' sound, and then pulled back too.

I need Lesbian couple Ronance with their skater daughter Max and Gay couple Steddie with their autistic son Dustin who are all neighbors and it’s really awkward because Steve and Nancy are exes and Max is technically Steve’s legal daughter as well.

The thing is— Nancy and Steve aren’t just exes, they’re ex-wife and ex-husband. Divorced. Out of each other’s lives other than Max.

Max knew 100% that they were moving next door to Steve (her dad) and chose to stay silent about it because 1) she lives for drama and 2) it means she doesn’t have to go so far to see him and can spend more time seeing him.

Of course Dustin is 100% aware of this and enables it fully.

I was trying to think of a way to include Mike in this cause he’s Nancy’s younger brother and as funny as it would be for Mike to technically be Max’s (and Dustin’s) uncle I think I’m just going to have him be Robin and Nancy’s legal child because Madwheeler siblings is a must.

Dustin and Max know each other from Max’s weekend and Holiday visits. Mike and Dustin know each other from school and are ofc really close friends but don’t know about their “parent situation”.

Robin and Steve are still best friends but Nancy has no idea that Robin’s precious “Evie” is is her ex-husband and Steve knows that Robin is Nancy’s new fiancé but doesn’t say anything because he assumes that Robin knows about their history already. (She does know but she doesn’t realize that Steve is /that/ Steve.)

Eddie’s just kind of there— but I really want him and Nancy to meet while Eddie is working on her car (mechanic Eddie my beloved) and Eddie takes a moment but goes “omg your my husband’s ex-wife!” in typical Eddie fashion and Nancy has no idea what to do with this new information.

None of the kids call Steve, Eddie, Robin and Nancy mom or dad (just cause that feels weird to write outside of it being a bit). They’ve all agreed on first names— considering that both couples are only in their mid-late 20s (maybe early 30s??).

Will, El and Lucas are ofc mentioned— all having their normal canon families (with Wonder Twins). They are also 100% in on the “parent situation” and are also fully enabling it cause it’s funny as hell and Will and El’s favorite movie is The Parent Trap.

Mike is also in on the “parent situation” but he doesn’t know that he is also part of the situation (being Ronance’s legal child). He knows Dustin’s parents ofc, but it never clicks that Steve is /that/ Steve (like Robin lol). He only really figures it out when he goes over after school and Max is there and Mike’s like “why tf are u here?” and Dustin’s like “Mike that’s my sister” and Mike’s like “no that’s MY sister” and Max is watching the entire thing unfold because she knew the entire time.

5: first headcanon that pops into my head: mommy issues Steve my beloved <3 I think steve's relationship with his mother ended up informing so many of his future relationships. specifically I see a sort of emotional incest between them where Steve ended up kind of playing the role of husband to his mom since his dad was away being a bad husband. obviously not a good situation for a kid to be in with their parent bc it robs them of being a kid. but basically this put Steve in a position of providing even to the point of hurting himself, which ended up opening him up to being vulnerable to codependent relationships. I think elements of codependency follow Steve in a lot of his relationships, especially can see it with his friendship to Tommy and carol, a little bit with Nancy, and also a bit with robin too (I tend to exaggerate it with robin bc I think its fun lol)

mike was chilling in his room, fidgeting with some of his fidgets when he thought of his boyfriends. ‘yk i could really use some cuddles right now..’ mike thought while smirking and ran downstairs to the phone. ‘RING…RING…!’ the phone rang til finally lucas answered “who is it?” lucas said dully “it’s me, mike.” mike answered, grinning so hard at the sound of lucas’ voice. “oh, hi baby what’s wrong?” lucas said instantly changing his demeanor. “nothing, i’m ok just wanted to know if you maybe wanted to hang out at my house?” mike asked with a lil goofy smirk on his face. lucas couldn’t see it but he could see it in his mind. “oh, alright, honey i’ll be here in like half an hour, ok?” lucas said sweetly “oh, ok see you soon!” mike said, slightly blushing at lucas’ pet names. lucas hung up, excited for his date.

The moment Eddie realizes he likes you more than a friend - your head leaning against his shoulder on a late movie night, lips slightly parted from exhaustion whilst all he can think about is waking you and snuggling in bed with you - he's determined to let you know that he loves you.

Well, except by actually saying it of course.

You're smart, he figures, so he decides to slowly drop the hints for you to figure it out yourself. After all, you two have been friends since the beginning of high school so he doesn't want to risk making the friendship awkward by suddenly blurting out: "I know we've been best friends for forever but I love you."

He'd start out by subtledly giving you special treatment. You want to sit in the front seat? Mike is sitting in the back of the van, even if he called shotgun minutes beforehand. You forget to bring lunch money? Eddie refuses to lend Gareth an extra dime but scrambles to pull out a crisp $5 from his back pocket to give to you upon hearing from Chrissy that you forgot to bring your wallet today.

And whilst no one gets to sit on Eddie's throne except him: when Eddie and the kids find you falling asleep on the throne on the one day they were all running late, the metalhead cannot find it in himself to shake you awake and command you to sit in one of the other plastic chairs.

No, instead he opts to push the club session to next week, draping his jacket over your bare shoulders before lightly shaking you awake. The boys are there to witness (and gaze in awe at) the way Eddie's features scrunch up in adoration, tender fingers gently brushing against your cheeks as he lowly whispers into your ear. You stare up at him, bleary eyed, half unconscious, but Eddie doesn't mind.

No, he chuckles and offers you a piggy back ride back to his van.

"Dude what the hell! When I tried to sit on your throne you nearly stabbed me in the ass with a fake sword." Dustin questions loudly, making the senior turn around with a menancing glare.

"Shut up, Henderson! Just get the door for me, would you?" he asks, tilting his head sideways. Lucas and Mike snicker behind the curly haired boy as Dustin rolls his eyes but obliges (for your sake more than Eddie's), propping open the metal green door so Eddie can carefully carry you out the building and strap you into his front seat to drive you home.

But when you don't seem to pick up on any of it, Eddie amps it up: he starts getting touchier with you (whilst still being respectful, of course). His ring clad fingers will toy with yours under the table whilst you're talking to the Hellfire Club over lunch, and though you raise your eyebrows in curious interest, you don't stop him.

He'll find excuses to hold onto your hand or to wrap an arm around your waist - "it's really crowded here and I don't want to lose you," "it's awfully windy on this side of the road today", "i don't like how the group of guys across the street are staring at us" - and it'll elicit countless eyerolls and jokes from the guys, but you'll just brush it off as Eddie being your overprotective, kind, loyal best friend.

In fact, Eddie's lowkey crushed when the two of you are leaning against the front porch steps at a house party and he messily presses a kiss against your cheek, telling you that you're the best thing to have ever happened to him... And your response is to squish his cheeks and smile widely, cooing "aw, you're so sweet to me, Eds. You're awesome too."

"How much longer are you going to be toturing poor Munson?" Robin would question when you eventually walk over to join her on the dance floor, letting your best friend twirl you on the spot under the flashing lights. You'd frown, quickly glancing over at Eddie (you can't see his expression because he's smoking with his back turned to you) before looking back at Robin.

"What'd you mean? Is something wrong with Eddie?"

Robin hums, not wanting to be the one to spill the secret: it'd be unfair, she thinks.

"Never mind. Just... keep Eddie close, yeah?"

You roll your eyes at that.

"Duh, when do I not? He's one of my best friends, we're basically attached at the hip."

Eddie would be slowly losing hope at this point, kicking rocks with his head pointed downwards and dragging the soles of his shoes on the floor, that Steve would have to step in and give him a little kick in the right direction.

"Your problem is that you keep doing things that could be written off as friendly! Make a grand gesture that CAN'T be construed as anything but romantic." Steve urges, shaking Eddie's shoulders.

So Eddie books a reservation for a couple's dinner in this upscale restuarant an hour's drive from Hawkins and tells you about it one night when he's having a sleepover at your place.

"Hey, so you know how we're having a three day weekened this week cause Friday's a national holiday?" he casually mentions, trying to maintain a nonchalant facade. His heart is beating at what feels like a million miles per minute, hands anxiously drumming against the pillow he's squeezing to his chest, but you seem none the wiser.

Legs kicked up against the headboard of the bed, hair messily spread out onto the sheets as you look away from the book you're reading.

"Yeah, why?"

"I was wondering if you'd be up for like... a short road trip on Friday? There's this place an hour's drive from here that is known to do the most amazing pasta and there's a couple's discount with free dessert at the end too and I-"

Your eyes light up at the mention of free dessert, book long forgotten.

"Free dessert and pasta? Oh my god, Eddie, you're a fucking genius! Yeah, let's go."

The way you so casually speak about the dinner indicates that you're taking this NOT as a date but as a brilliant scheme by Eddie to get free food, so he has to awkwardly chuckle and attempt to reign you back in.

"Yeah but to be clear, we're going as-"

"Hold on." you shush him, sitting up to answer the ringing house phone. Eddie's impatiently squirming in his seat throughout your entire call, through which you giggle and play with your stray hairs. "Sorry, that was just Mason. You were saying?"

Eddie feels ice prickling in his veins, dread washing over him in waves.

"Who's Mason?" he asks, even though a part of him would rather not know. You shrug.

"Oh, he's just a guy from the town next over. I have to meet up with him tomorrow so he was just calling to check in. Why?" you question, innocently cocking your head to the side.

If you can see the heartbreak reflected in his eyes, you don't say anything. Eddie forces himself to smile and be his upbeat self for the rest of the night, practically scrambling to plug in the VHS tape into the television when your parents open your bedroom door and remind you and Eddie they'll be gone for the night.

"Are you okay, Eds?" you question him half-way through the movie, noticing that he's chosen to sit far away from you (usually he'd be right up against you, sharing a blanket draped across both your laps with a popcorn bowl in the middle). Not to mention, he hasn't been making his usual funny commentary, responding to your quips with short smiles and awkward grunts. "Are you mad at me or something?"

"What?" he blinks at you, slowly, voice tired and monotone. "Oh. No, of course not." he assures you, but the smile doesn't quite reach his eyes.

"Okay then..." you trail off, staring him up and down before moving closer to sit right by him. You snuggle right up against his chest like you usually do and Eddie doesn't protest - his breath hitches in his throat because in his mind, you've got a boyfriend now (some douchebag named Mason, he bitterly thinks).

But he likes this. He likes having you near him, feeling the weight of your head on his shoulder, your warm hands accidentally brushing against his whenever he goes to grab some popcorn. So he decides he can be selfish for the night. And let himself live in a fantasy where you and him are together and this is just another date night for you two.

Eddie quickly relaxes into your touch, puts an arm around your shoulder, and lets himself believe for that night.

You only became aware of Eddie's love for you when a fight breaks out between Lucas, Dustin and Mike, who have been having an ongoing bet about when you'd figure it out. Eddie's running late to Hellfire and you promised to sub in for Gareth (who was running a high fever) and you walk in to see the three boys nearly threatening to tear each other apart.

"Woah, woah, what the hell is going on?" you have to put your foot down, placing your backpack down on the floor with a thud. The teens immediately pause their fighting at the sight of you, with each of them practically elbowing each other in the face whilst rushing up to you.

"Have you figured it out yet?" Mike interrogates you, breathless.

"Figured what out?"

"About Eddie." Lucas cuts in impatiently. You blink slowly at the kids, still not getting it. Dustin throws up his hands in surrender and has to be the one to spell it out.

"Oh my god- HAVE YOU FIGURED OUT THAT EDDIE LOVES YOU YET? LIKE, ROMANTICALLY LOVES YOU? WANTS TO KISS YOU AND TAKE YOU ON DATES, LOVES YOU?"

"What?" both you and Eddie question at the same time - you, shellshocked, and Eddie, just having walked into the conversation. The boys know better than to stick around and scram out the room, avoiding Eddie's murderous gaze. The tall senior wants nothing more than to go after them and teach those little shits a lesson about privacy - but he can't. Not when you're staring at him, confused and surprised, eyes dazed at the revelation.

"Is what they're saying... true? Do you love me in that way?" you're totally flabbergasted, head spinning at the newfound information. Eddie doesn't even really need to confirm it, not when he's suddenly flushing pink and shuffling on his feet, refusing to meet your gaze.

"Uh... yeah." he says carefully, peering up at you through his long lashes. "I've been trying to tell you - well, I guess, show you- for like, a month or two."

"So all the... rules you let me break, the affectionate gestures, that couple's dinner you booked us..."

"I was trying to tell you I love you, obviously. Well, I guess not so obviously because the freshmen had to be the ones to break the news." he sheepishly adds, scratching his neck. "I know you have a boyfriend so we can just uh, pretend this didn't ha-" he begins to explain himself away, waving his hands around frantically.

"Boyfriend? Who told you I had a boyfriend?" you question, face scrunching up in disgust. Eddie frowns at that, stepping closer towards you.

"I think his name was Mason? You talked about hanging out with him a couple of times?"

You laugh at that, soft giggles filling the empty room.

"Eds, Mason is just a family friend that I tutor. His parents pay me $20 to tutor him in English Literature and History."

"Oh." is all Eddie can offer, his shoulders deflating. He's a total idiot, he realizes, having moped around for a whole week thinking that he'd blown his chances with you without even checking to make sure that this 'Mason' was actually your boyfriend.

"So... are you gonna kiss me now?" you tease, backing him against the wall. He smirks at that, raising his eyebrows.

"Are you telling me it's okay to kiss you?"

You shrug, fingers tracing his bottom lips.

"I don't know, Eddie, but I'm pretty sure when you love someone you're supposed to kiss them. You love me and I love you so-"

His lips are on yours before you can even finish your sentence, cold fingers wrapping around your waist to pull you right against his chest, the kiss tasting like faded smoke and honey balmed chapstick.

"Say it again." he practically begs you, voice whiny and expression soft. "I've waited so long to hear you say you love me, so please. Say it again."

Eddie doesn't let you get away from him for five minutes straight, insisting you kiss him over and over to make up for "all the time lost."

I HAD THE BEST BYLER DREAM LAST NIGHT AND I REALLY WANNA SHARE IT WITH YOU ALL

it's so long (literally 2k words) so im gonna put it under the cut haha <3

so basically this would take place after mike and will start dating or something, idk exactly the time frame (i picture them being like 18 or something and this is the summer before college) and will goes to this summer arts program for like 2/3 months (i dunno how long american summer is but something like that) and its all the way far from home so there is dorms and stuff and he's "not in hawkins anymore" (no pun intended)

mike and will decide after will finishes his school they'd go to college together (cuz they're gonna be comic book artists together bc thats boyfriend shit) so throughout these months he's practically just waiting for will (<333333)

so one specific scene i remember from my dream involved will and mike getting off the bus to the school and then they hug and then mike grabs wills hand and brings him behind the bus and then he gives will a biggg kiss bc he won't be able to kiss him for 3 months. then they say they love each other and will gives him another quick kiss and is like "two kisses". they agree they'd call each other every day.

so will goes inside and mike goes back on the bus and goes home.

and basically the whole day is a whirl, until the end of it, in which mike is sitting in the kitchen near the phone waiting for like 3 hours for will to call, and will doesn't end up calling.

AND THEN IT GETS SPICYYYYY

so meanwhile at the arts program will asks like the front desk or something if he can call mike and they say phone is offlimits and they don't let him call mike

so then will goes to sleep and he's paranoid that he thinks mike is gonna hate him or something like that

mk than the next day in class there is this girl (they didn't reveal her name in the dream, ill call her stella) so stella is basically looking at will the entire class but will doesn't know it

so when they exit the class stella's like "hi" and will says "hi"

then stella says "i like your painting."

will is like rlly weirded out so he goes "thanks?"

"i um- hope this doesn't sound weird but i have no friends, do you want to be mine?"

and then end of scene (this does not sound like a normal conversation but it's my dream so it doesn't have to make sense"

so BACK AT HAWKINS mike is still sleeping even tho it's like 3 pm because yk depressed boyfriend shit but then the PHONE RINGS and mike gets out of bed frantically and goes to the phone and he picks it up and is like "will?" and then it answers "it's el, idiot"

i feel like this is important for context but el speaks english very well now and hoppers back and she lives with hopper and not the byers anymore. ANYWAYS

el says "how's will?"

mike says "idk he didn't call"

but than el says "okay. guess im gonna go to the mall by myself" (ig starcourt is rebuilt by now)

but then she puts a hand on will's shoulder and he's shaking and then says something (idk what it is it wasn't explaining in my dream) then will stands up and runs to the bathroom. so he's just sitting in the stalls crying.

okay back at starcourt this part wasn't shown in my dream but im just gonna make up that mike and el go looking around starcourt for something for will (sort of like the mike/lucas/will montage where they were looking for stuff for el) and then i guess they find something for will and i don't have the slightest idea what they could have got for him BUT THEY GOT HIM SOMETHING GOOD

so mike's all happy but they'res still that depression inside of him lol

so fast forward a week, it really isn't explained but ill just make up that will still hasn't called mike, and he's super sad and all sleeping in but decides to look through his good ol binder full of will's drawings and in the arts school will and stella have a few more interactions im sure which are still very uncomfortable

okay so it's lunch again in the cafeteria and somehow will and stella are talking again but somehow it ends in stella kissing will and will like pulls away immediatley and is like "what is wrong with you!?"

(giving me anne with an e vibes prolly cuz i did a rewatch last weekend but i won't explain more in case some people haven't watched it but) anyways will stands up from his seat, everyone is looking at him, and he's shaking and so concerned but then he goes "fuck. you" badass will yeaaaa thats my boy

so then he runs out of the classroom and out of the school in a really cool montage way but then he realizes he's like 2 hours away from home but he runs and runs and he goes to a random bustop (it's not even garanteed if it takes him to hawkins but whatever) he gets on and tries to go back to hawkins.

and soon enough, he gets there, and immediatley goes to the wheelers because he needs to see mike and apologize for everything. so he's at the wheelers, and rings the doorbell, realizing he's still in his uniform lol but karen answers and mike is upstairs in his room sulking (i picture it would be 8 pm by now) so will asks for mike and karen calls mike. mike groans obviously because he doesn't know it's his boy, but he comes down, karen gets out of the way and as soon as he sees will they have a really big hug and it's super sweet and my heart UFHEIOSKA

mike says his usual "are you okay?" and mike is still confused as shit but will says "i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry" and mike says "you don't have to be sorry for anyrhing" but will says "ill explain"

so then they go to will's room, side-by-side on his bed and will starts explaining everything

anon i’m so sorry this got super super long

I was very excited with the trailers and everything before it came out, shit looked amazing, but I was expecting around 6 or so episodes before Yuugo even shows up cause of that plant(?)thing they got trapped in. So I waited a bit before watching.

And then last week I go to twitter and literally see the frame of that goddamn table AND THERE IS NO YUUGO. First they cut out that whole mini-arc of them learning to survive and went right in to Mujika saving them, which in my opinion is a bit of a copout, cause in that little segment you really saw how well the kids could adapt and learn on the fly and use their brains and whatnot. But whatever- if they came to the goldy pond arc faster I was willing to watch them speed through other things, because I believe that goldy pond arc really is the most important event in the manga. A turning point for the characters and their developments and that is when they truly grow with their views on the world and goals.

But all of that doesn’t matter now because Yuugo wasn’t in the Bunker,

And I disliked every single thing after.

First I miss my bunkerdad, he is my absolute favorite character and a fan favorite for a reason (i rly rly don’t know what will they get by cutting him out) but it’s all because of his growth. He is grumpy and mean and bitter and while we do learn about it later, at the start he wasn’t all that dear to me. But then his backstory happens, shit gets explained, kids find the room etc etc- his redemption happens slowly and he just grows from bitter sad angry man to a grumpy father who loves his children and wants to protect them at all costs.

Which is huge! Aside from Minerva (even he later disappoints) Yuugo is the only adult (w/ Lucas ofc) who these kids can look up to and count on.

Cutting him so early off, and even if he shows up alter under different circumstances in my opinion ruins the character arc he went through. As we later find out he was about to kill himself in the moment when Emma and the others stepped into the bunker, and rewriting that with them saving his life in ANY other way just won’t cut it. Them preventing his suicide, putting him to work and giving him a reason to live (as well as proving family is worth it all) and returning HOPE HE LOST by finding Lucas is a whole character arc that I can’t see being altered so drastically and still being impactful.

Especially with how mistreated he’s already being, without being present in the anime. While I was happy that the wall with his scribbles exists along with the notebook, the fact that he left a message that said “I’m going to the human world; don’t lose hope” is THE LAST THING YUUGO WOULD SAY AT THIS POINT IN THE TIMELINE. He went mad from loneliness and guilt as the only survivor, he stayed alive ONLY because he thought his whole family died and that it would be even worse if he went and died as well. He gave up on going to the human world, because he doesn’t see a point in doing so alone.

That’s why episode 4 ruined my hopes for Yuugo; even if he does show up later to me his character is butchered already. (I will be over the moon if he shows up, don’t get me wrong, but I deeply condemn current developments)

And this all is just about Yuugo.

What ep4 did to the narrative is so so dumb.

In the manga bunker is their grand gift for survival. For escaping GF, surviving the forest, finding their way, outsmarting the demons and whatnot. It’s their new home, a place where they feel safe and secure, and it takes years to establish that. When it gets attacked everyone is shocked and upset. I remember reading those chapters and being on the edge of my seat, actually feeling hurt, because I knew how much time and effort they put into making it a real home. Yuugo and Lucas giving up their lives in a grand gesture of love, ultimately showing that they’re ready to give up their all for these kids they come to see as theirs. It’s gutting and painful and heartbreaking.

In the anime it’s cheap and absolutely pointless. I would get it if it was just another disaster that just happens to Emma and the others to show how the world isn’t on their side, but THEY SPEND A YEAR THERE. A whole year in a goddamn flashback, unnecessary and boring, there is no emotional punch to it getting attacked, no true losses (because while we do see them getting settled down and living easily, it just goes by so fast and nothing new is shown except baths and the piano.) Bunker looses all its meaning, there’s no new emotional connections, Yuugo is badly set up (if you can even call it that) and that stupid call from Minerva just makes my blood boil.

The point is that the bunker gets so much setup, a long tour and it seems like a checkpoint, but it’s ultimately useless because we spend a single episode before it gets attacked.

With that it erases Andrew (at least for now, which is very unproductive if you ask me) and fucking destroys the security needed for the goldy pond to happen. Anyone can argue with me about yuugo’s character being rewritten and changed for the better but you can’t tell me the bunker plot point wasn’t a complete waste of time.

Alalala onto the goldy pond I’ll wrap this up soon I promise.

As I said, universally accepted as the best arc aside the first one. I went back to read it again at least two more times and to me it is as close to a perfect arc as you can get. I would’ve been happy if it stayed like it was in the manga. It handles a huge amount of characters so so well, they all feel important, the plan is very complicated but works out because it was brewing for such a long time, sets a power balance and HAS THE BEST SET OF VILLAINS IN THE WHOLE MANGA.

Pure strategy and tactic kept me coming back, as well as the fact that the main handicap (which is the impossibility of relying information between the groups) didn’t feel forced. But now it can’t happen because a)Yuugo is NOT HERE b) no bunker means no space for tiny kids to stay safe c)it wasn’t even mentioned??

And if they go and shuffle events around and crap I can maybe see it taking place in a satisfying matter, but the thing is that goldy pond was a big turning point because Emma learned she is able to win against demons, even as strong as those five, but at the same time realized that humans are her enemies as well. and as we saw that has already happened in the anime.

My view is that if goldy pond arc happens, it won’t be as impactful as it was in the manga, especially because so much time had passed, but I need it to happen because it was such a great arc.

All in all, this is my current opinion. I am disappointed and sad by the current flow of the anime, but willing to watch where it will go. In my opinion, so many changes were unnecessary, because where manga started going downhill is much much later, around the time Norman is introduced back. I get that they might be setting up other arcs and going for something completely original, but by god I don’t have to like it. They are cutting out so so many great things that would look sick animated, and in return giving us timelapses and cheap thrills. And I didn’t even touch upon villainizing Isabelle SO EARLY ON

Once again, just current opinions, and if by chance they somehow manage to turn this into something entertaining and fun, AND add yuugo and the goldy pond arc, I will gladly eat my words and praise them later. This has been going on for way too long and if anyone bothered to read all this bullshit pls don’t get mad; I’m glad if you like the anime as it is, I just can’t get over so many bad decisions and such a huge drop in the quality of storytelling.
