Obvi Emily wasn’t in much better shape, and jj is like going through her own shit but it’s been YEARS of rossi saying he doesn’t want the job and jj has been the interim boss before so like, shouldn’t it just go to her? also like, rossi could/should easily take a step back, chill out, take a day of leave, this isn’t healthy. God everyone on this team needs SO much therapy…

How did Emily wake up, get snacks, get drunk and get high between the time Penelope left for work and jj get to the apartment. Like, I swear it’s still before noon…. Also … homegirl is SO high…lol

Okay, so, so far I am glad that the scene/scenario was so short, like that arc of this episode is the comedic arc (so far) that keeps the ep light. Yes, it is more paget in Emily than we’re used to seeing, but also, Emily is full on losing her shit and it’s this loose, a little wild, unhinged Emily (that we saw briefly in the ep Saturday when, once again, she was intoxicated) we also at this point in the ep don’t know how/why/when she got high. And things like cbd/gummies/smaller doses are pretty regularly and readily available, correct? (I live in Canada, its all legal here so im not sure on specifications and im too lazy to google it rn lol) OBVI it would be very against fbi protocol, but again, she’s convinced she’s lost her job already… (and we all do some wild/stupid/rash things when we think we’ve lost our jobs/are on the brink of it… trust me..)

I think this is the first time we’ve gotten to see Tara use her doctorate (is that the right word lol) amongst the team and I hope we get to see a lot more of it. Like, let’s remember that she’s a dr!

Ah, okay, its legal in the district… got it. HOWEVER, she does say she uses THC to get her brain to unwind and the way it was said seems like it’s a pretty regular thing?? So like.. does that shit leave your body within 12 or less hours? Or is it fine for a fed to test positive for a lowered amount? Im not good at science so I’m gonna pretend that it’s the same as having a glass of wine or bottle after work lol…

S16 was good, it was one mega unsub with a mini unsub per each episode and I liked that cause it was different yet also similar to the same style of 1.0. but this is.. pushing it.

Alright, welp, that’s it. Tonight’s ep was honestly meh. I loved some moments; I hated others and some were super boring. Overall, not the strongest that we’ve had yet this season… who knows what next week holds!

ive been into writing for years before i got into fanfiction specifically so i guess just from reading fanfiction i guess, but if you want a longer story, i got more interested in writing from roleplaying on amino and got into fanfiction because the fandom i was in at the time got OBSESSED with this one popular work and i just HAD to check it out

2. How many fandoms have you written in?

officially, my ao3 account only has glee works rn but i do have a 911 fic im working on and i do want to venture into more fandoms, but i don’t really have the confidence to do so yet

3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

i’ve been trying since 2020 to be more of a fanfic writer but never actually got anything solid until 2023 so 1-4 years depending on how you see it

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

definitely read im a slowass writer and part of that is because im too busy reading fanfiction instead of writing

5. What is one way you've improved as a writer?

overall in the years i’ve been a writer, i feel like i’m better at portraying characters as well rounded and creating characters that aren’t just one stereotype. when it comes to my time as a fanfic writer, im better at writing actual scenes rather than just random narration

6. What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

the probability of survival when falling from certain heights. also ohio the glee writers were cruel for making their show based in fucking ohio of all places

7. What's your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?

i’m honestly not picky i love all types of comments, but if i really had to choose, it’d probably be any that point out a specific part or line or whatever in my writing. it makes me so happy when people have some detail stick with them

8. What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

i honestly haven’t done anything too intense in my writing i think the most out there i’ve gotten is just emotional infidelity and that’s just standard for seblaine. i do plan on killing blaine in one wip of mine, but it’s just an idea for now because i’ve got other shit to focus on

9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

longer stories are literally impossible for me. i absolutely SUCK at writing anything longer than a couple thousand words and even that is hard for me. smut is also hard but that’s because i haven’t bothered to write smut, so different vibes

10. What is the easiest type?

well if you see how many hurt no comfort fics i’ve published it’s obvious fluff is what i’m best at. but yeah short vignette angsty stories are super easy for me to write. it’s just 50% projection and 50% exaggeration and 100% gay, so no problem there

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

i often write at home, on my notes app, at any point of the day, and i post all my stuff on ao3. i will sometimes edit on my laptop on google docs, but i get lazy too and so my latest fics have been mostly raw and unedited.

12. What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

smut and literally any ship that isn’t seblaine and also longer works. i’d love to be one of those writers who comes out with these multi chapter masterpieces but i’m just not right now. i’ve had ideas for other ships too, but i never really flesh them out because they’re usually stuff that would span across thousands of words and i don’t have the time, energy, nor skill level to do that yet. and again, for smut, i just never bother, and while i think im never going to be the explicit sex scenes type of writer, i love the angst potential of it

13. What made you choose your username?

acedisgrace is a name i’m like 85% sure i saw a joke about from a stolen tumblr post on instagram and i was like hey im asexual and a disappointment haha what if i change my discord name to that and then eventually when i got an ao3 account, i just went with it because i saw it was available there too. as for calsvoid, they’re my initials and i spew whatever bullshit i want on tumblr and also i wish i didn’t have a body and instead was an amorphous blob of nothingness

one of the mutuals did it again. it’s not as bad this time like the post isn’t saying zionists are brainwashing the tv owning population into thinking antisemitism is a problem but the post was still erasing jewish history and playing into the whole “they jews killed jesus” thing (except now it’s literally “the jews are killing jesus’s brothers and sisters”… fun)

it sucks bcz i rlly like this person, we aren’t in any of the same fandoms rn but we’ve been mutuals for well over half my time on tumblr and at one point we were eachother’s closest mutuals too

similar stuff has happened and is happening with other mutuals and people i follow on both sides of this thing (tho i’ve seen a lot more goyische mutuals become antisemitic than jewish mutuals become racist over these past few months-) but again i’ve known this person on here longer than most of my mutuals (ignoring the people i know irl) and i know they aren’t being malicious here but honestly i’m scared it’s gonna turn that way

i wish i knew how to confront them about why all this is bad but i’m really not sure how. at least with the other post it was incredibly obviously a conspiracy theory AND i send the ask to the other mutual (tho i did tag them) but really i’m not sure how to confront this person about this specific thing

That really sucks. I think you have a couple of options here. You can ignore it, but that won't solve anything. You can trust that your friendship will make them listen to you about this issue, so you can talk to them about it. Or you can simply decide this person isn't worth your time and grieve the friendship and move on. None of these options are really easy, but sometimes we need to do hard things to keep ourselves safe and well

Writeblr Reintroduction!

So hey, it’s been a minute. (Read: several months)

A bit of a reintroduction is in order as I get back into this space that I miss very dearly.

Me: So I’m Larkspur, you might have known me as Jenna, or Dove, or tiredbard, or the Magician, any of those things really. But I changed my name a couple years ago, it’s Larkspur, hi! I like that one much better. I might change my url again at some point but that is still up in the air, I really like bardicbeetle. My pronouns are they/them/theirs (and I’m kicking around zie/hirs somewhere in my brain but we don’t have time for me to unpack that rn I’ve got too much else to deal with).

I’m in my mid-twenties, I write primarily character driven fiction, a lot of it focuses on the ideas of finding a home you truly belong in. My primary project (Safe in the Dark) has been in the works for well over a decade, and still involves vampires though kind of in a tangential plot device way and the focus is more on overcoming trauma and learning to love life again and how not everything monstrous is really the monster. My newer WIP, which still doesn’t really have a name but we’ll call it “That Witch Lives and Breathes” for now, is about an exiled hero becoming the village witch on a new planet and how you move on when the people you saved vilify you for it.

I post snippets of my work when I have them, reblog shitposts about writing, and sometimes very rarely make moodboards.

I also write fanfiction, specifically for Doctor Who, the Lost Boys, Kingdom Hearts, and most recently—2008 hit children’s mmorpg Wizard101. All of that can be found on my AO3 account under the username “oldestenemy” which is also the name of my fandom blog on here. I’ll probably reblog my wizard101 fic posts here, but keep posting them on my fandom blog, that just feels like it makes the most sense.

Common Tumblr Myths

I’m seeing some information go around rn that’s true in spirit, but not entirely correct and I want to make a few little reminders

“Likes don’t do anything, they’re just so you can find things again later in your liked posts.” This one is usually fired off as part of encouraging people to reblog instead of/in addition to liking things. It’s a good thing to encourage, because reblogs are the most EFFECTIVE way to show support and share posts, but they’re not the ONLY way. Likes do things!! They help posts be more visible outside of people’s dashes in search results, the “for you” page, and things like “in your orbit” and “based on your likes” (assuming you have those enabled- you can turn them off in settings).

“Tumblr doesn’t have an algorithm.” Also usually seen as part of the reblog-not-like posts. Tumblr does have an algorithm- it’s just not forced on you like it is everywhere else. Your dash (the main screen when you open the app or website) is curated on follows and reblogs, but the “for you” page, search results, and anything that shows up on your dash because of tags you follow and your/your friends’ activity, that’s tumblr’s algorithm! You can avoid it completely if you want, and sometimes it does some Weird Shit, but if you’re new here and struggling to find blogs to follow, browse some tags, reblog and like a ton of things, and then check out the for you page. It’s actually a pretty good way to find new people!

“It’s rude to block/unfollow people.” Full honesty, this is maybe not a universal opinion, but on a website where your experience is almost entirely defined by who and what you follow, you need to block and unfollow people. Sometimes your interest changes and you don’t want a fandom cluttering up your dash. The “toxic side” of a fandom can be nothing but a myth to you if you block liberally. No one can know if you’ve blocked them unless they specifically go to your blog, and even then it looks the same as a loading error. The strength of tumblr is the ability to control your own experience, so take advantage!

“There’s no way to know who sent an anon ask.” That is um. Not true. There are ways to figure it out. I will not detail them here because you can Google that and I don’t want to hand people that power, but just. If you are going to be shitty to someone on anon, please keep in mind that people can figure out who you are fairly easily, even if most folks don’t know how or won’t go to the effort of doing it. Also, anon asks can be a really lovely thing, so why,, use them to be a dick

This isn’t a myth but it is related to that last bit: you can answer asks privately! If you get an ask and you want to respond but don’t want it on your blog, answer it privately so only you and the asker can see it. It’s a good way to handle asks that are maliciously targeting someone or potentially trying to start drama. Highly recommend. Don’t be a cyberbully’s platform.

WIP Snippet Game

A bit delayed, and I know it’s not Sunday, but oh well! Thanks for the tag @vitaminpops! I’ve only found inspiration and time to start writing again this month, and while I have a bunch of HP fic WIPs I still need to wrangle in, I’m following the muse atm. Which happens to be fixated on a Sterek fic rn! Here's a sneak peek:

Stiles knew this was the stupidest idea ever as soon as it came to mind. That was saying a lot, considering he excelled in the art of coming up with stupid ideas. Sure, most of them stemmed from his own curiosity and strong will, but a good chunk of his ideas actually cheered people up, or else saved their asses against the weird supernatural things that went bump in the night. This idea though…he didn’t even know where the hell it came from. One minute Stiles was scrolling through his social accounts to catch up on comments and messages, and the next minute he found himself feverishly perusing the internet for tips on how to make the perfect playlist. More specifically, a playlist of songs for a person. A special person. 

A few of you know I’ve been giving it a go in writing a multi-media fic, so the excerpt above is part of that. If all goes well, I’d love to get this beast posted up for mid-Feb (but we’ll see what happens). I’m really sorry, I was the anon who asked about marichat art. I didn’t phrase my question well, and I’m very sorry that it hurt you. I do love all of your art, not only the ladybug stuff. I just noticed you’d stepped away from the fandom and was genuinely curious about why. But if it’s not something that gives you inspiration anymore, that does make a lot of sense. (And it’s honestly not something you should have to explain, so I appreciate that you did respond.)

I’ve actually been following you for around 2(?) years or so now and your creature art has become some of my favorite on tumblr. (I love the weretober drawings so much omg but also your Creatures!!! With Fangies!!!!!)

I also read your tags and words won’t fix how you feel, but I know for a fact that your art has improved. It’s been amazing seeing the changes in style you’ve gone through and your digital painting technique is freakin *chef kiss*. Not to mention your anatomy sketches are actually breathtaking. Seriously, I’ve used them as reference for my own practice because they were better than my art teacher’s. (I don’t post them anywhere or use them for assignments, just for practice at home and they’ve helped a LOT.)

Really though, I am so sorry for being insensitive and I hope that you have a better day/night.

And yes, i have stepped aside from the fandom because of all the salt that the show doesn't deserve. And when i tried to defend it i only get insults (twitter) or people dismissing that i love the show and i want to talk about it in a good way instead of always "critics" (discord. Happened in 2 servers of one i was kicked out)

I do love the show and Marichat is still my number 1 OTP. I still make liveblogs and some commentary and/or shitposts. But i will draw when i have inspo for it. Rn i prefer doing creatures or animals (The Lion King specifically) than humans/romantic stuff because so far the only ideas i have is Marinette/Chat hugging it out and comforting each other and there's just enough poses of hugs that i can use lol and there's you know, that whole thing about feeling i have been forgotten by the fandom even tho like half of my digital works are just Marichat or ML related.

And thank you for the compliment about my art style even tho i still feel like it's shit lol. Eye of the beholder, they say, right? I still need to work over my self deprecation. Im glad some of my works helped you.

Different Love Languages

Summary: Hufflepuff is the type of person to express her love verbally but Slytherin is different; he hardly says “I love you” and Hufflepuff worries that maybe it’s because he doesn’t love her as much as she loves him. Our darling puff will realize that this is simply not the case. People just have different love languages. 

Hufflepuff loved Slytherin. She really did. In fact, she reminded him frequently. 

“I love you,” she chortled during breakfast when Slytherin had cast a spell to make the bacon strips float around in a dancing manner so that she would cheer up after reading depressing news from the Daily Prophet. Another time, she cooed the term of endearment as he held her tightly in his arms, swaying to the sound of music in the background. 

The thing was that Slytherin rarely said “I love you” in the entirety of their relationship. Instead of saying it back to her, he often replied by cupping her cheeks tenderly and leaning in for another kiss. Other times, he responded with a loving smile, his eyes glowing with warmth and infatuation.

It’s not that Hufflepuff thought Slytherin didn’t love her. She could definitely see it in the way that he looked at her, in those stolen glances when he thought she wasn’t looking. She could feel it when he held her close at night, his arms wrapped protectively around her. 

However, a part of her- the small shadow of doubt within her heart that told her that Slytherin didn’t care for her as much as she did for him- just wished for some kind of affirmation, a clear signal that said, “I love you.” 

One day, Hufflepuff and Slytherin sat side by side in Potions class, listening to Professor Slughorn drone on and on about Felix Felicis. She was absentmindedly staring at the board when Slytherin slid his notes in front of her so that she could see the doodle he drew on the side of his paper.

Hufflepuff bit her lip to suppress a laugh and squeezed his hand 3 times.  

Unfamiliar with the motion, Slytherin asked what the squeezes meant.

“It means I love you,” she whispered. Her voice was soft so that Professor Slughorn didn’t overhear their conversation.  

Nevertheless, Slytherin heard every word. A smile tugged at his lips and he immediately squeezed it back. He didn’t just stop there; he repeated the gesture about 6 times- and Potions class hadn’t even ended yet. 

From that day forward, Slytherin constantly told her I love you. Sometimes he squeezed her hand randomly- before he left for Quidditch practice, during breakfast when she passed him a plate of toast, and after he walked her back to the dormitory. 

Aside from that, he would occasionally tap out the gesture with his finger. 

Tap tap tap. 

Hufflepuff looked up from her book and made eye contact with Slytherin from across the room. She knew what it meant. She always did. 

Slytherin said I love you all the time now, more often than Hufflepuff’s verbal “I love you”. 

She realized that he had a different love language from her, and that was ok. It was the love itself that mattered. 

On their wedding day, as the officiant performed the ceremony, Hufflepuff looked up at Slytherin with adoration. “I love you,” she whispered. 

He smiled warmly at her and squeezed her hand four times. 

I love you too.

You might be wondering why i wrote this one-shot. There was no special occasion this time, I just got a bonk of inspiration one day. also i felt bad for reblogging my ice skating oneshot so much (i did it to respond to other peoples reblogs) and i sent an ask to my favorite fanfic writer, asking her about what happens if i reblog my own work and if it pushes my fanfic up the algorithm, and she answered my question but also said that she usually deletes her reblogs bc her followers would probably get annoyed if they kept seeing the same work over and over again. i felt bad bc i had just done that, and i didnt want yall to constantly see the same fanfic all the time, so i wanted to give u something new. also i was thinking back on that person who said that my writing was sporadic (they werent trying to be mean). Sporadic basically means spaced out and occuring at different intervals. i felt bad bc my writing is definitely spread out by one month for some reason. im not sure what this means for next month bc i never write 2 fanfics in one month. does this mean that i wont write a fanfic for november? hopefully not. ok that sounds sad, im sure it doesnt but who knows bc the college process thingies is killing me 

I wrote out the general details of the story at 1 am one night when i was trying to sleep lmaoao heres a screenshot: 

This is basically how I write for most of my fanfics at first, it consists of the general info along with some specific details.

At first, the one-shot was gonna be a drabble (aka a story that’s only 100 words long) but when I finished writing it, I went to wordcounter to check the number of words and it was 500! i was like oop ok im just gonna call it a oneshot then. i wrote part of the story on sunday morning and then i went to exercise in the park with my sister. afterwards, i wanted to keep working on it but then i became swamped with college stuff so i stopped. i started writing again today (its monday, but im posting it on tuesday, aka today for you- or maybe not if ur not reading this on the day that i posted it) and i surprisingly finished- but that was probably a bad idea to be writing the oneshot during this week because i have a lot of exams, but lets look at the bright side, i finished the story!

I didn’t think of the idea completely on my own. I actually read the reddit story (found it in a thread on insta) a few years ago, and I don’t know why but I was thinking about it that night and I decided to make a one-shot out of it! Isn’t it such a sweet story (the actual story, not this)?? It would be kinda nice if I reached out to the person and said, hey i wrote a story based on you and ur husband! 

Anyways, I just made a meme:

ok so... biting the bullet and taking a break again. not exactly sure what i’m taking a break from given what i’m about to say but maybe just saying it will help allievate the stress lmao not under a read more (sorry) bc i want people to see it, but feel free to scroll past or wtv.

anyways. yeah, taking a break. still gonna be on top of the nbcgoodgirlsdaily queue. but i’m gonna stick to doing it the way i said i would (x), which i still haven’t been doing it up until now.

i am frustrated and disappointed with the show. i am exhausted with trying to keep up with everyone’s posts and being scared of missing one. i have never once been in any way upset with an admin of a source blog for accidentally missing my post and pretty much everyone in this fandom is older than me so i assume more mature and therefore no one will actually be upset with me the way my anxiety makes me feel like they will if i miss a post.

i am only going to check #goodgirlsedit, #nbcgoodgirlsdaily and #goodgirlsmeme (x). i am not interested rn in going through a thousand posts in the general show tags talking about how much people love things i hated or how much they hated things i loved. i just don’t have the headspace for that right now. if you don’t care about being reblogged by nbcgoodgirlsdaily, that’s fine, tag however you want. if you do care, then please use #goodgirlsedit and #nbcgoodgirlsdaily (and #goodgirlsmeme for the good girls meme).

so, that’s a good question. the first fandom i ever wrote for was dora the explorer. i’ve been writing fanfic for a LOOONG time. the first fandom i ever PUBLISHED for was carry on. i was sitting in the hospital, writing away, and i thought ‘huh. i should publish this.’ and that was that.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

i don’t have a favorite fic that’s published, but i sure as fuck have a favorite. it’s a long and grueling process and i’ve spent so much time with it, but i love it and i love the concept. it’s not even close to done, but i’m still excited.

i am not sure tbh, i write some pretty angsty one shots and longer fics, but i TRY to at least give a slightly hopeful ending, tho now that i’m thinking about it, i think the angstiest thing i’ve written was that prompt fill based on the song, for island fires and family, i remember SOBBING the entire time that i wrote it (there is miluca in that one), but ALSO there is the fic i wrote in reaction to the season one finale, which also made me cry, which was called, we both know how this story ends

once again i’m not sure, like i said before, i try to give my fics hopeful endings if they’re really angsty, and i love me some hurt/comfort, but i’m not entirely known for writing happy, fluffy fics, tho i do TRY sometimes for certain people

okay, so like don’t hate me, but no, i rarely, if ever respond to comments, i just don’t know what to say at all, like i’m the type of person that really wants every single message to be unique and special, but there are only so many ways to thank someone for reading your fic, so i just tend to post things and then thank everyone for reading afterwards, if there is someone that shows up often on my notifications, or if someone asks me a specific question pertaining to the story, then i will answer, i also answer back if i wrote the fic for someone and they left a comment, and if i’m sent an ask on here about something that i wrote, but i am simultaneously the world's most shy and confident person ever, when it comes to my writing, so i’m so sorry

this doesnt mean that i dont appreciate every comment that i get because i really do, im just super shy and awkward and i may write good-ish, but i do NOT have the same way with words in person

not really?? if i have i don’t remember it, usually i’m the one who talks the worse about my own writing

yes, the only kurtbastian fic i’ve ever written was translated into russian

yep!! as y’all probably saw from my top five fics up there somewhere, marlo @bestillmyslashyheart is basically my fic writing soulmate, we just really click when it comes to writing

14. What's your all time favourite ship? to write for?

atm it’s malex, which is more than obvious, BUT before they hijacked my brain and made their home within my neurons, it was skimmons!!! i wrote fic for them for YEARS, even after i stopped watching aos

15. What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will?

uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, i’m just gonna talk about fics that i’ve posted and haven’t updated and not any of the hundreds of wips that have never seen the light of day, my original witch au tbh, i just, roswell made maria and isobel somehow related, and just made me really uncomfortable with the ship, which is the main reason that i’m not gonna finish the fic if i’m being perfectly honest, there is ALSO that au i had where michael’s daughter from the future comes back to the past and she had been raised by alex, because of reasons that are petty, probably my space opera au as well, and only because i just want to write other things MORE

16. What are your writing strengths?

i think i’m good at describing things, especially kisses, i LOVE writing kisses, it’s one of my favorite things, that and my fight scenes are two of the things i pride myself the most on

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

dialogue, sometimes i feel the characters are ridiculously out of character, but then i don’t care because sometimes in canon characters are also ridiculously out of characters, also describing things, because sometimes i just feel like scenes don’t flow right, i am definitely a comma whore, and use dashes and hyphens in places they definitely shouldn’t be used, run-on sentences are my best friends, also english isn't my first language, so, sometimes the way i phrase things just come out wrong

18. What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

tbh completely honest, i follow the nora sakavic method where you just write the dialogue in english like, “hey there love,” they said in perfect french, and i only break this rule if i actually know the language because just translating straight from english always makes things sound stilted and weird

19. What was the first fandom you wrote for?

dc comics, i wrote several timkon fics which i posted on livejournal

20. What's your favourite fic you've written?

oh, i know that love is all about the wind, how it can hold me up and kill me in the end (still i loved it), no specific reason why, i just love it with my entire heart!!
