Headcannons to style five if their boxer s/o nearly died in the ring (TW):

Makoto:

Man was stressed! Once he saw you go down and not come back up, he was jumping out of his seat.

Being a guy who's usually quiet he was yelling at the top of his lungs to the ref, to your coach to do something.

Once the medics rushed into the ring, he was right next to you, eyes scanning your still body.

Your poor face was bloodied and swollen, black and blue covered almost every inch as he felt sick to his stomach.

Refused to leave your side as you were rushed to the ER and made sure you had the best care.

Held your hand the whole time you were in the hospital.

When you finally woke up, he peppered your face in kisses.

You took a hiatus from boxing after the incident and Makoto was grateful for it.

Haru:

He remained quiet as he watched the match. His eyes never leaving your form as you kept getting knocked down your blood splattering the boxing ring mat.

Once he saw you go down and not get back up, he leapt up and ran to your side of the ring pushing your manager to the side and climbing in.

your opponet was freaking out as they kicked you in the side of the neck and you just went down. The medics hurried since it could be a spinal injury at that point.

He remained at your side while you were through physical therapy and surgery after surgery to correct the damange done.

Helped you do basic tasks while you recovered and made sure you were comfortable.

He knew you wanted to go back to the ring, but flashbacks to you laying unmoving in the ring flashed through his mind.

You both talked about it and you decided to take a little break from boxing to focus on yourself and Haru's relationship.

Haru made sure to hold you closer every night after that, still frightened about what happened with you.

Rin:

When he saw you go down hard and not come back up, he was scared as he ran up to your manager demanding answers.

He saw your bruised and battered body unmoving in the ring as tears sprang to his eyes. Seeing you like this was terrifying, the thought of losing you like this.

He held your cold, limp hand in his all the way to the hospital, kissing it and muttering to you to wake up.

Due to the damange, you were in a coma, seeing you hooked to all of those machines got to Rin. He hated seeing you like this.

Rin talked to you every day while you were in your coma. Telling you about what was happening with your guys' friends, how your parents were doing, what they brought you and all the things you two would do when you woke up.

After three week, you finally woke up from your coma and had to go through various tests and therapy which he was there with you through it all.

When Rin brough you home he made sure to take care of you since you were still recovering. He was clingy for good reasons.

After talking to Rin you decided to take a long break from boxing after you incident and he was grateful for it.

Rei:

He never worried about you in the ring, he knew something bad would have to happen and you were a great boxer, you were unmatched.

However, when you went down and didn't get bakc up, his heart sank as he rushed to the side of the ring as he saw the medics surrounding you and load your unmoving body on a gurney.

He was with you in the ambulance, his eyes scanning your body...he was afraid to touch you in case he made something worse and your condition was already bad to start.

He broke down once the doctor left saying he wasn't sure when you'd wake up due to the severity of your injuries.

Rei visited you in the hospital every day, he couldn't stay because he couldn't handle seeing you hooked up to everything for long, his stoic demenor would fall and he had to be strong.

When he got the call you were awake, he rushed to the hospital and his heart filled with relief as he saw you smile at him when you walked into the room.

He made sure that everything was in order and made sure you were taking the correct medicines and going to the right physical therapy appointments.

After a tearful talk when he brough you home, you decided to take a hiatus from boxing and recover and spend time with Rei.

Nagisa:

He was always worried about you when you boxed. He hated seeing you get bloddied and bruised or worse. He was always your biggest cheerleader though! Screaming at the top of his lungs for you to win.

When you got hit in the back and feel, but didn't get back up, he went silent as dread filled him before he rushed to the ring jumping in without a second thought. The medics held him back since it was a back/spinal injury.

Nagisa was a mess, crying and screaming for you to wake up and to open your eyes as you were taken away, him not far behind.

He went quiet as silent tears fell, his eyes never leaving your unmoving form. Stroking the back of your hand with his thumb he was hoping you'd wake up soon.

Refused to leave your side, the only time he did was to get new clothes for him and food, other than that he stayed by your side even after you woke up.

He was clingy and affectionate, holding you, kissing you and just being with you, which was fair considering he though he lost you.

When he brought you back home, he was making sure you were comfortable and showered you with affection.

He pleaded to you one night to take a break from boxing and you agreed wiping the tears from Nagisa's face.

She is the most protective out of the two due to her intelligence wanting to keep them safe

After all her s/o tried to fight a car once due to it carrying Sonia… only they get to carry Sonia in there arms!

upgraded plan A is better than just plan A but it will ultimately still draw attention

plan c is unlikely to work seeing as though how creepy that guy is, plus he doesn’t like Saiki

As of plan d Teruhashi can hardly stop him from being a creep to HER (😭⁉️) and i don’t know how well the parents will care, especially if he’s making them money..😟

plan e….seems like it would be successful..buuut i feel he would just use his celebrity status to will the evidence away, like speaking out about how he would “never” do that and doing charity 🙄 plus the fan girls probably won’t believe some rando who uploads that on the internet over they’re fav 😒

ngl plan F is really reasonable and has one of the highest chance of working, but yet again, the celebrity card will strike and he could pay off the police so they don’t do crap abt it 🤦‍♀️😑

therefore! Plan B it is! Seems the most likely to work + Saiki can get his revenge in a practically harmless way! :3

so yes ultimately he tells you, likely at his house, in his room, and he tries to break it to you as gently as possible but…there’s no easy way to take that kind of info 😬😟

if you get scared or cry he’ll tell you his plan to make him leave you alone, and he tells you to tell your parents too. Essentially trying to console you

if you choose to trust him and react a bit calmer, maybe still worried, he’d ask if you still wanna go out in public knowing this, and if yes he’ll accompany whenever and wherever he can, especially since Makoto won’t wanna come up to you while he’s there, thinking Saiki’s your boyfriend

Makoto Yuki with a Physically Affectionate S/O (Makoto Yuki x Reader)

Basically, every time you had a chance you cuddle him like there was no tomorrow.

You give him a lot of small kisses in public. It was only when you two where alone you give him much more kisses.

Hugs? Yep. Side hugs, full hugs, and tackle hugs.

You usually hold off on affection during battles, as it was crucial for you and him to focus. Only when you guys are in the lobby you give him a peck, the beginning for good luck and the end for good job.

When ever there is a status ailment that have to doing anything to do with emotions, some quick affection snaps him out of it.

It was just your love language.

His reactions are always great for you, since you always has that neutral look on his face. There would be some faint blushing, maybe some embarrassment. The special reaction is when he smiles, even if it is a small smile that could be easily miss you were overjoyed. You always give him some more compliments to saying that you want to see him smile more.

He always affectionate back, not as much as you do. But as long as he is comfortable, you are happy to be with him.

Ann found the coin to be… interesting.

The loud Ting when you flipped it always caught her attention.

On one hand it was irritating when she lost.

On the other, the tension of making a split second decision of what to call when the coin goes up was exhilarating.

Especially when she called the right side.

“Tails!” you exclaimed with a grin as the coin began to fall and land in your palm.

Ann let out a cheer.

You chuckled and gave a mental apology to your wallet as you rolled the coin into the space between your fingers and then over your knuckles before tossing it to your other hand and then placing it into your pocket.

The coin landed on heads, the red side that depicted a smiling Jester's mask in gold.

“It’s decided! You’ll be taking me out to get as many sweets as I want!” Ann exclaimed with a mischievous smile.

Sure, it added some flair to day to day life.

However, Makoto was not a big fan of leaving things to fate.

That said… It did help her when she was indecisive about something.

When she hesitated to act or did not know what choice to make, she would always see the glint of the coin in her vision and the sound of the Ting it made when you flipped it.

It forced her to make a decision.

Will she take the leap?

Or will she err on the side of caution.

No matter what side the coin landed on, she knew what her answer was.

And you know that too.

You smirked before teasingly asking “I thought you disliked the coin toss?”

This earned you a solid wallop to the shoulder.

“Ow! Okay! Okay! Yeesh! I’m going to tell Sae about this domestic abuse when she gets back.” you muttered as you pulled the coin out from behind Makoto’s ear with a simple bit of sleight of hand.

“If you do, you know she’s going to side with me, right?” Makoto asked as you rolled the coin over your knuckles and into place over your thumb.

“We’ll see.” you said with a grin and then flipped the coin, sending it flying.

“Heads!” Makoto exclaimed.

“Tails!” you stated with a smile.

The coin came down and into your hand.

Makoto promptly grabbed you by the shoulders and screamed into your chest.

It landed on the black side, tails, with a frowning golden jester's mask facing up.

Futaba was sure you were cheating somehow with your tosses.

She could do the math that told her the outcome of the toss in her head with ease.

And yet, with every toss, it almost never went the way she expected.

Every time she would smugly declare her choice, confident in her answer, it would land on the opposite side.

She had no idea how you were doing it, but you HAD to be cheating.

She was tempted to try and strangle the answer out of you.

Alas, she was afflicted with the most terrible of curses.

Weak Nerd Arms.

So, she had to try different means.

Futaba turned the coin over in her hand, examining it closely at her desk while you smugly watched her doing so as you sat on her bed.

Futaba was getting irritated.

No sleight of hand, no tricks, nothing!

Futaba placed the coin atop her thumb and flipped high into the air with a solid Ting reverberating through the room, already doing the math in her head.

“Heads!” you declared with a smile.

“Tails!” Futaba exclaimed confidently.

Half a second later, Futaba threw the coin at you as fast and hard as she could.

You caught the pathetically weak lob with ease as Futaba slammed her head into her desk.

“Life Is Not Daijoubu.” Futaba muttered.

“Aww, I love you too.” you said smugly before walking over to kiss the top of her head.

Haru absolutely loved the coin.

Every second of her life had been planned out before she met you.

But now?

Things were random, left to chance.

It was exhilarating!

Why, it almost brought her as much joy as hearing the Shadows beg for mercy!

Not to mention the antics the coin could cause.

Several yes’s in a row and then a no to change it all.

The solid Ting The coin made whenever it was sent to the sky never failed to send a tingle down her spine.

Random chance leads to strange occurrences, strange occurrences leads to interesting decisions.

It was the path that following the coin always led down.

It was a truly interesting show to watch and partake in.

Especially when she was the one putting you on the back foot.

“Dear, what is a “Sadist”, the others had me take a test and it said I was one?” Haru asked rather innocently despite her, admittedly, somewhat evil intentions.

She had to fight the urge to giggle when you looked at her as if a day you had been dreading for all your life had finally arrived before turning your back to her and flipping the coin.

Your shoulders promptly slumped and you looked to the heavens, seemingly trying to ask god “Why?”.

You then turned to her, looked her dead in the eyes with the most broken expression she had ever seen and proceeded to explain what a sadist was.

This was truly the most entertaining event to ever occur from the coin yet.

Sumire was intrigued by your habit of tossing the coin.

Leaving everything to fate, hedging all your bets on a 50/50 gamble.

You and Joker would probably get along.

That and probably correct her on the actual chances being something like 51/49 or something to that effect.

Nonetheless, the Ting of the coin never failed to grab her attention.

The questions you left to the coin always ranged wildly.

From what food you were going to eat for lunch to if you were going to randomly carry Sumiere around like a bride.

Your whims were always decided by the coin and Sumiere was always excited to see what the answer would be.

“Uhh… Yoshizawa?” Ryuji asked as he peered out the window of Ren’s room.

“WE’RE NOT MARRIED!!!”

She had to bite the inside of her mouth to avoid adding on the “Yet” to the end of that sentence.

“Yeah, yeah whatever-” Ryuji began to say before the bell rang and the voice of The Boss rang out.

“Hey there! Yoshizawa’s upstairs with the kid and the others.”

“Thanks Boss! Would you mind going ahead and making me something to drink while I head up there?” you asked.

“No problem, the usual?” Sojiro asked.

The sound of the coin being flipped rang out.

“Dealers choice today, Boss.” you stated before the sound of someone walking up the stairs hit everyone's ears.

“Hello everyone!” you greeted before walking over to Sumiere.

You then proceed to gently place your hand on the side of her face, and kiss her on the lips.

After a few moments, you pulled away with a smile before saying “Goodbye everyone, it was nice seeing you all!” and then walking away and back down the stairs to grab and pay for your drink, leaving Sumiere blushing as red as her hair and a dazed look in her eyes.

“You’d think she’d have gotten used to them coming by just to kiss her by now.” Ann said as she flipped through her magazine.

“Yeah, then again, the coin does leave everything to chance.” Ren said before taking a sip of his coffee.

Hajime Hinata

hajime would be very confused at first, he'd ask if it's similar to nagito's ultimate and if it's a cycle of good and bad luck. when you told him it wasn't and shit was just constantly hitting the fan, he got a little worried.

it's usually small things like you falling face first on the ground because you forgot to tie your shoes, every animal known to man constantly attacking you or the coins falling out of your wallet whenever you tried to buy anything from a vending machine to be never seen again. yet sometimes, it would ruin dates the two of you wanted to have.

one time - when the two of you started dating - you decided to go to the beach to have a date. it was the middle summer and there weren't any clouds in the sky, yet the moment the two of you finished setting everything up it started raining. the worst part is as soon as both of you went home the sky cleared. hajime would be the type to awkwardly show up at your doorstep right after the failed date, soaking wet, asking if "you had room for two in your house".

overall, i don't think he'd take it too hard. even if some hangouts fail there's always room for more. he'd worry, of course, but not to the point where he'd restrict your movement and choices (only if you have the risk of getting ran over or something).

Makoto Naegi

he's definitely the type to be constantly worried. although he is the ultimate lucky student he can only hope that his ultimate is enough to balance yours out (which usually just ends up the two of you sharing lucky and unlucky experiences).

before going out he'd tie your shoes extra tight, make sure you have a jacket if it's cold out or an umbrella if it's raining - with a smaller, spare umbrella inside your backpack if the first one broke. bought by the man himself! he'd be the type to grab your hand before crossing the road but not let you cross unless everything was right. by this i mean, no cars in the street, shoes tied, hand held, nothing in the way.

at the start of your relationship makoto thought he was being a bit too much but when you almost got ran over as you crossed the seemingly empty road he decided he could never be too sure.

altogether, he's worrying a lot. not in an annoying way, more of a "you're my troublesome child and i'll never let you out of my sight" type of way.

Nagito Komaeda

oh no. the good luck? still there. not a lot though. the bad luck? double. the cycle is still there, it's just that now whenever something bad happens it's two times worse.

nagito would be very nonchalant over both your talents and not let it get in the way of your dates. for example, if it started raining heavily during a walk and he noticed it was starting to flood the streets he'd try to convince you to go buy floaties to float down the street together. hopefully his good luck comes around quickly! you don't feel like getting stuck somewhere or drowning.

if you did get hurt he'd degrade himself - even if why or how you got hurt had nothing to do with him - and pay for your hospital bills. i feel like nagito would be the type to pamper his partner a lot with little gifts and try to carry you up the stairs if you broke your leg(s). And fail miserably at doing so.

he'd get into shit with you to just go "haha, my bad. how could i let this happen?"

if you get hurt he wouldn't be able to carry you or anything (he's not particularly the strongest and his back pain doesn't help) but he'd take care of you afterwards! be it cooking meals, or cleaning the house.

Inside the headquarters of the moon demon company, Guren Ichinose sat in this private quarters. His sharp purple eyes were fixed on some important paperwork but his mind wasn’t able to focus on it

His mind was focused on a particular girl at the moment. She was s/o

S/o always found a way to make everyone around her smile and lift up their spirits and that infuriated Guren

He had noticed some of the soldiers, especially Makoto Narumi and Shusaku Iwasaki were always hovering around her and were always found wherever s/o was. They tried to gain s/o's attention and get favoured by her. It infuriated Guren and all the bottled up jealousy was close to exploding and reached its limits to be ignored.

One evening as he was training he saw that you were sitting on a bench and Narumi and Iwasaki were talking with you and he saw you smile in response.

It made his blood boil, how dare other people make you smile?

He went over to the three of you and grabbed the two guys neck and lifted them up without them even noticing that Guren was behind

most people in the class are taller than naegi, so he's used to having to crane his head up just to talk to people properly. he didn't really mind, it just came with the territory of being smaller. what he wasn't used to though, was being carried, especially being carried by someone much taller than him.

the first time you did this was after pe class, everyone had to run around the track as long as they could and by the end of it, makoto's legs were killing him. back when you two first knew each other, you quickly got along, so he went to you to complain about his achy legs.

in response, you suddenly carried him bridal style as everyone walked to the lockers. makoto grabbed onto you in surprise, and his face was tinted red as he became too speechless to ask you to put him down.

to him, it was... kinda nice, actually. the pain in his legs was still there but being carried helped alleviate it, and it was very cozy to be carried by someone bigger. he enjoyed it, even if he got playfully teased by the others for it.

and that started the cycle of you wordlessly carrying him if he ever talked about having any pain, even if it wasn't leg related. some back pain? you offered to carry him on your back to his dorm. a small headache? immediately lifting him in your arms on the way to the cafeteria. a little neck pain? instinctively handling him so you can place him on your shoulders.

the others joked that makoto's legs muscles will become weak if you kept carrying him so much, and its become a little inside joke within the class. everytime someone needed to be lifted up or carried, they'd call it "pulling a naegi", you both thought it was funny.

the first time you ran with him in your arms, he was so confused and shocked that he didn't hold onto you, and almost ended up falling butt first to the floor. you two both got a good laugh out of it afterwards, with him playfully telling you to atleast warn him first before doing that!

now, everytime you run while holding him, he will scream very loudly. you always somehow manage to do it when he least expects it, and it always catches him off guard. he'll cling onto you for dear life while you run around the classroom with him, trying to avoid taka's scolding.

makoto definitely prefers piggy back rides over anything else. its the position where he can cling onto you the most, and the position where he worries least about falling down. he also enjoys resting his head between your neck and collarbone, but he'd never admit that.

until you two developed feelings for each other. you carrying him felt alot more intimate than it used to be, and him holding onto your shoulders while placing his chin on you felt so much more affectionate. the blush on makotos face would never go away when you lifted him like you usually would.

the entire class got sick of watching you two beat around the bush while being incredibly obvious, and also with you still insisting on carrying makoto, which would just make both of you flustered messes.

kyoko and byakuya convinced him to confess, and to everyones expectation, you both became a couple, and they thought they'd finally be spared all the skinship. they were all very wrong.

carrying became like a love language between you two. you loved hearing his surprise yell whenever you carried him and started running, while he loved the wide smile on your face whenever you did so.

makoto would finally start seeking you out in order to be carried around, feeling more comfortable to admit he actually really enjoys the feeling now that you two were dating. there were times where he would just go up to you, smile at you and ask "hi s/o, can you please carry and rush me to my dorm? i forgot something there." and then you'd immediately get on it.

everytime classes ended and everyone headed back to their dorms, you would piggy back carry him there while sprinting down the hallway. no matter how tired you were after a long day, you always made sure you had enough energy to do that, the laughs he would let out after the initial shock wore off was worth it.

feeling him hold onto you made your heart skip a beat no matter how many times its been done. feeling your arms hold onto him firmly to make sure he was safe made him turn red even if you two did it everyday.

carrying was such a special thing between you two. it meant so much more in your relationship, and you both loved it. the closeness it provided, the trust it required, the significance it had in the development of you two becoming lovers, it all meant so much to him, and he'd never trade that for anything.

An Abbreviated History of Mecha Part 3.3: Kill 'em All (Tomino From 1981-1993)

Spoiler Warning: This post contains mild spoilers for Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam, Space Runaway Ideon, and Mobile Suit Victory Gundam.

Welcome back to An Abbreviated History of Mecha! Last time we covered the latter half of the 80's, where we saw a lot of major entries in the canon of mecha make their appearance. You might have been asking yourself though, "But Wanderer, why aren't you talking about Dunbine or Zeta Gundam?"

Well, dear reader, that's because Tomino in this era would release quite a few entries that are worth mentioning on their own. And I'm not saying this to hype up Tomino; the man had been working on various shows in the years after Ideon. So for today's post, I will be going over the breadth of works Tomino worked on from 1980 to 1993. This way, as I said before, we will also be able to bridge the gap to the 90's by using Tomino as a metaphorical bridge between decades. So move on, shall we?

Also, if you have about 10+ hours to spare, I'd highly recommend Argonbolt's On Gundam series if you want to learn more about Gundam and Tomino. It's a pretty comprehensive dive into the Amuro-Char saga and all of the behind-the-scenes stuff that went into making the series.

Combat Mecha Xabungle/Blue Gale Xabungle (1982)

Released in 1982, Combat Mecha Xabungle serves as a great foil to Space Runaway Ideon. Just like how Ideon proved that the classic robot stories could handle grim war stories, Xabungle would also prove that the more grounded and "realistic" robots could be used to tell silly stories. Xabungle is also worth mentioning due to the fact that this is the first time Tomino would work with one Yasuhiro Imagawa, a name that will be coming up in the near future.

Aura Battler Dunbine (1983)

Aura Battler Dunbine, released in 1983, would be one of the first so-called "isekai" anime. Dunbine is also known for its unique mechanical designs, trading out the more traditional robot designs in favor of mecha that are more insectoid in appearance. As it predates Panzer World Galient by about a year, Dunbine would also technically be the first fantasy mecha to reach the mainstream. Dunbine and Galient are equally important in my opinion, as both series would influence many mecha stories that feature fantasy-styled mecha stories in the future. Dunbine would also be the reason why the fairy companion would become such a big thing in later media *cough*Ocarina of Time*cough*.

Heavy Metal L-Gaim (1984)

1984's Heavy Metal L-Gaim would mark the first time that Tomino would work with Mamoru Nagano as primary mechanical designer. The two were rather close, as Nagano was, to my understanding, one of Tomino's many disciples. It would be L-Gaim specifically where you see Nagano's mechanical designs shine, so much so you can see how it would inspire him to when it came time to make the Five Star Stories.

Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam (1985)

In 1985, Gundam would make its big return with Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam. And not only would Zeta make a big splash with its debut, it would also go on to be the single most popular Gundam series after the original. More importantly, Zeta Gundam would also be the series where we see a lot of major industry people working on this series, including (but not limited to):

Yasuhiro Imagawa (Storyboard), who would go on to direct the Giant Robo OVA and G Gundam among other things.

Mamoru Nagano (Mechanical Design, specifically for the Hyaku Shiki), who would eventually leave Sunrise to work on the Five Star Stories.

Makoto Kobayashi (Mechanical Design, specifically for The O, the Baund-Doc, and the Marasai), who would go on to work on Dragon's Heaven among other things.

Shinji Takamatsu (Cultural Setting), who would go on to direct The Brave Express Might Gaine, After War Gundam X, and the first two seasons of Gintama among other things.

Zeta Gundam would also become infamous for its ending, which ends with most of the main cast dead. Granted it's not to the levels of something like Ideon or Victory Gundam, but it is generally the first example people point to when explaining why Tomino was nicknamed Kill 'em All. Not helping things at all at this time was the fact that Tomino was rumored to have been suffering from depression.

Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (1986)

Following off of the success of Zeta Gundam came Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ (pronounced Double Zeta) in 1986. As a sequel to the darker Zeta Gundam, ZZ's legacy is one that's a bit more contentious due to its sudden shift into comedy. ZZ would also mark the first time that Gundam wouldn't be the smash hit of the year, and that may have been an inspiration behind the creation of Metal Armor Dragonnar.

Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack (1988)

ZZ under-performing would have a silver lining though, as it would give Tomino and company more time to work on the first non-compilation movie in the Gundam Franchise: Char's Counterattack. Char's Counterattack should be known for a fair bit of things, with one that I'll mention here is Char's Counterattack would feature a young Studio Gainax as one of the supporting studios during production. This movie would mark the official end of the Amuro-Char saga started in the original Mobile Suit Gundam, though this wouldn't be the end of the overall Universal Century.

Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (1991)

In 1991, Tomino and company would return to work on a new Gundam television series. During the production process though, it would be changed at the last minute to be a movie instead. And thus was Mobile Suit Gundam F91 born, dragging the Universal Century into a new era of conflict. And remember how I said F91 was supposed to be a TV series at first? You can actually tell where an "episode" would end as you watch F91. That's how last-minute the change to a movie was.

Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (1993)

Mobile Suit Victory Gundam would release in 1993. In the middle of production for this series, the toy company Bandai would buy out Sunrise. The executive meddling that would occur would cause Tomino to get so fed up with Bandai that he would leave Sunrise.

It should also be known that Victory Gundam is, with the exception of Ideon, Tomino's single darkest work. Characters will get killed off with little to no fanfare. It's also not surprising that there are rumors that Tomino does not like Victory Gundam.

It's not all bad though. Victory Gundam is the reason we have Daisuke Sakaguchi.

Conclusion

And it is with that somber note that we will leave behind the 80's. Going into the 90's will be interesting, to say the least. It is in the 90's where we will see some of the most iconic names of the mecha canon arise. The 90's are also a time of economic hardship in Japan, the effects of which would ripple all throughout the decade.
