💚In a situation for Harold to grow truly attached to someone, you would have to be from out of town, or visiting a family member, perhaps. Harold is filled with such hatred for his former classmates and there spawn, that even those who didn't kill him, he knows stood idly by and ignored him in school. Because of this, he probably wouldn't want the son or daughter of a former classmate.

👻Maybe you moved to Port Lawrence with your family, whether for work or a fresh start, or maybe your a distant cousin of one of the people in town. As long as you aren't a direct descendant, Harold will have an easier time coming to terms with these feelings.

💚Being new in town was hard for you, nerve wracking even. Everyone at this school seemed to have a clique or group, and even the loners had their own things going on. Luckily, you caught wind through overhearing some classmates that a party was being held on Halloween night. Hoping to make some real friends, you donned a costume and set out.

👻The address had been kind of hard to find, some old, blocked off road with a creepy mansion at the end. Still, the party was in full swing, teens dancing and drinking, strobe lights and shitty music filled the main room of the house. You asked one of your classmates, Lucas, about the house.

"Oh, yeah. Some kid died here like, a hundred years ago or something. Big explosions, a fire..." A skinnier boy in a cat costume cut him off. "Don't listen to Lucas, it wasn't a hundred years ago, dude. It was like, the 90s." He rolls his eyes.

💚A little uneasy about sneaking into a house, much more the site of a gruesome death, you tried to enjoy the party. After a few drinks, Dr. Pepper, you weren't trying to call your parents to take you home, you went looking for a bathroom.

This would prove pretty difficult. That same boy from earlier, Lucas, ate worms, and was puking in bathroom number one. The second bathroom was locked, and from the groaning and smacking inside, you could tell you didn't want to know what was going on inside.

👻This had left you with not choice but to go to the bathroom in the basement. Standing at the edge of the stairs and looking down the dark hallway, floored with rickety wooden steps, you had gathered your courage and descended.

💚Biddle had expected company, but unlike the mask he coerced Isabella into taking, or the camera he snuck in Isaac's bag, you didn't take anything. He waited for another, foolish teen to take something. He had a few items set out for specific peoples... but, he wasn't against another thief falling victim to his cursed items.

👻However, you surprised him. Just looked for the bathroom door, went, and then headed right back up to the party. When Mr. Bratt came home, the teens scattered, to cars and into the woods. Harold used this time to torment Allison, his burned, ghostly form shrieking at her. She had screamed in terror, and Isaiah soon found her.

💚You were driving home, but took pity and stopped to help a few of your classmates whose rides had fled. After several hours of dropping people off, you were finally able to get back home. A pair of pale ghostly eyes watched you from the window of your room. No one else had stopped to help their friends, much less strangers. How nice you were...

💚As days went by, and mysterious terrors afflicted the teens of Port Lawrence, you grew close to some of them. A busy body named Margot, a cheer leader named Allison, and a jock named Isaiah. All shared and English class with the new teacher (and owner of the Biddle house), Mr. Bratt. Mr. Bratt was odder at sometimes than others, almost like he was fighting with himself. He was always tired and dark eyed.

👻From deep inside, viewing the world through Mr. Bratt, Harold would observe the teens. It was just as he remembered it, the gossip, the catty looks and the fake smiles. But nothing sickened him more than watching you interact with the others, so sweet and kind, but only friends with the filth in this town.

👻On your end, you really liked Mr. Bratt. He was a funny teacher, always cracking jokes and saying something odd. He always gave you perfect grades, which was odd because you noticed you had gotten a few questions wrong when you would compare projects and assignments to classmates. Still, he was a great teacher.

💚Harold wasn't a fool. He had always been smart when he was alive, and his evil intentions had made him no less cunning. He knows he can't pursue you romantically as long as he's possessing a teacher. He'd rather not get his possession vessel arrested and sent to jail. He doesn't want his house empty, not right now.

👻When he heard you had taken up the role of a tech member for the drama department, he formed a plan. The old elevator platform to the schools abandoned basement was 'accidentally' left open, a gaping hole in the dark of the stage.

💚You unfortunately weren't aware of this, and had stayed late to finish some lighting set up. As you close up and turn out the overhead lights, the floor had felt as those it disappeared beneath you. As you plummet, you let out a pitch scream. It wasn't a long fall, not even that deep, but it hurt. Your hips and ankle were aching, throbbing, and red hot tears had begun to stream from your cheeks. You felt to scared to stand or move, but it was late. How were you supposed to get out of here?

👻As you whimpered, you heard a sound in the silence. Just then, a sound from the side. It sounded like a creaking floor panel.

"H-hello? Is someone there?" You called out fearfully. A boy, haired curly and tall looms over you. His eyes have dark circles, his face almost blends into the shadows of the basement, but... you chalk it up to blurry vision and bad lighting.

💚"Aw... how'd you end up down here?" He asked, voice low and slow as he had tilted his head. "I'm on tech crew, I fell. I think my ankle is... twisted or something. Could you help me?" She asks.

"Of course..." he drawled. His eyes darkened and a grin tugged at his cheeks as he said the next statement. "What kind of sick, sick monster would leave someone to die in a basement, all alone?" He said. You gulp and chuckle awkwardly. "Well, it's just my ankle. Don't think I'm dying." You joked.

👻"Course not. Come on." He had extended his hand to you, and hoisted you up against him with surprising strength. Despite the soft flannel shirt he was wearing, his skin felt frigid to the touch, yet oddly warm, an icey burning sensation could be felt where his hand was still on your arm.

"Should be a lever... right over-" he looks around, the snaps his fingers and points. "Right there." You had both hopped on the platform. "How'd you know how to get out of the basement, I heard it's been blocked off like, forever." She asks.

💚"I guess I just, know more than other people." He shrugs. Once he had helped you out of the school, you had gone to your car. Fidgeting with your keys, you faced away from him as you unlocked your car. "What did you say your name was?" You ask.

👻"Doesn't matter. Just a friend." When you turn to him with a confused look, he's gone. You looked around, but tired, you drove from the lot.

💚Back at the Biddle Manor, while Mr. Bratt tried to get a peaceful night of sleep without being possessed for once, Harold is in the basement, playing with the Polaroid camera Isaiah had tried so hard to destroy. He wonders, can it just take normal photos if he wills it too? He has other things to attend too, he can't always watch you, but he'd love a few pictures of you.

👻Even if the camera could only take pictures of your fate, maybe it wouldn't bother him too much. What would the future hold? Would you be with him? He hoped so, but the idea of what he could see that would displease him swayed him away from that path. No, he'll stick to watching you through Bratt, when he can, or through your windows on those precious nights you leave a curtain open.

💚As he sits in the room of his demise, he looks at his hands, black char marks occasionally appearing. For once, he doesn't focus on the burning rage and actual burning feeling that courses through his body. No, this warmth is softer. The warmth from when you touched him and he touched you. Contact, from someone who cared. Someone who he saw every private moment of, just to ensure that you had only pure intentions with everyone you met. Would you betray him if you knew, what he was like, who he was? He shakes his head. No. He holds all the cards now. He won't be weak ever again, he won't let you slip away.

💚Harold only wears what teens at Port Lawrence high now think of as 'grunge'. Oversized sweatshirt, flannels, loose pants. He has never once brushed his hair, even when he was alive. He doesn't hate that grunge is popular now though. He enjoy leaving a flannel or a Jean jacket in your closet, hoping you'll assume one of your parents gifted it to you.

👻You can always tell when his ghost in nearby, even if he's not visible there are tells, even if you don't realize what they are pointing too. You might feel a stinging if he passes by, a side effect of the pain from his burns. The smell of smoke and dark room chemicals fills the air if he's around, and you feel like your being watched.

💚He'd like to kiss you, or hold you, but he's not ready to even attempt that, much less a real introduction. He's got a lot going on right now. For now, you'll only see him around town, at night when your alone. At a bus stop? Oh, that mysterious boy from the other night us passing by. Buying a snack? He's got some spare cash. Walking home alone at night? Good thing his lanky silhouette can be seen leaning out from under a streetlight. Don't worry, he'll walk you home. You wouldn't believe the sort of monsters that live in this town, that lurk. It's enough to give you goosebumps...

Stranger Things’ The Party vs Barbenheimer

Will: can’t wait for both films, hasn’t stopped talking about the 11-mile long Oppenheimer film, or the fact that Barbie caused a pink paint shortage since he read about them

Mike: no clue what the films are about but Will is excited so he is excited by osmosis, will end up going to Barbie in the most Ken looking outfit by accident (much to both Will’s amusement & embarrassment)

El: only watching Barbie because she doesn’t like long or depressing movies, has already planned an extravagant brunch with Max at home before the film (Eggo Waffles: Barbie edition)

Lucas: thinks the rivalry is silly and would rather watch Oppenheimer only but inevitably gets pulled into watching both films by Will (& ends up liking Barbie too)

what is it in will graham that makes you feel like hes trans?

hey I don't know if you wanted an analysis here anon but I'm sure as hell going to give you one!

to me, and my interpretation of the show may differ from yours, s1 will represents uncertainty. he's a clear parallel to hannibal in that way, with his character in the first season being carefully cultivated to seem uncertain and display attributes. we learn about "people suits" later in the show and these traits can obviously be attributed to that as well, but general feelings and of unease and displacement in your own body and mind are pretty common feelings of the trans experience. his empathy is a double-sided knife in the same way my approach to gender presentation and passing with an effort to recognize identities outside of the gender spectrum is. the last metaphor is a bit weak, but you get the idea.

will isn't very comfortable around people. yes, trans people can socialize, yes, trans people have great social lives, but a disconnect from cis peers is not uncommon. he's out of place because of his empathy as well, but i recognized myself in the way he acted around strangers, how closed off about personal details he could be. the way he finds it easier to have animals around, and the way he likes to be their leader is pretty telling to me at least.

there are a few scattered lines that could point to him being trans ("i don't have the right parts" towards margot when she wants to get pregnant) but i think the truer substance is just in the way he is. it's so hard to explain why someone is trans because it's sometimes not a tangible thing? i'm trying my best here without even referencing or rewatching the show, but all i can think about is the way i see myself in him, as fucked up as that may be, as a trans man from the south.

and honestly, if the majority of trans men watching the show think he's trans, he's fucking trans. if that many people pick up on it, there's probably something to get in to. i may not have the words for it, but i bet some other lovely hannibal blog could write you an even longer essay on it :)

America Ferrera getting nominated for Barbie, but Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig not is just 💀💀💀

Sandra Hüller should have gotten that spot for Zone of Interest, but at least she got nominated for Anatomy of a Fall. Unfortunately, she won't win lead actress, even though she absolutely should.

For a second I forgot they go alphabetical by last name and thought Cillian got snubbed when they didn't announce him after Bradley. My heart dropped.

Bradley and everything Maestro is a tragedy of a nomination, but wholly expected. Yes, Mulligan acted circles around Bradley, but the whole thing was badly written and overacted. None of it felt like real people. Whole thing felt like watching a stage play. The movie should have been snubbed solely for the crime of making Leonard Bernstein boring, as well as the most heterosexual portrayal of a queer man ever put on film. (I have a lot of feelings about this movie in case you were wondering.)

But, most importantly, we now have three time Oscar nominee (and hopefully soon Oscar winner 🤞) Robert Downey Junior. Love him so much I don't even care if he has the best performance this year. He wants a little statue of a gold man for his mantle, so I want him to have one. Lol. (But also his performance *was* really good!)

Anyway, pretty much what people expected with few surprises outside Ferrera and actually the Killers of the Flower Moon song for original song was a nice surprise. I feel like we can already say who's going to win in almost every category (sadly Best Actor is tighter than I would like 😞). It's kinda a shame because there were definitely some other exciting options. Sad to see All of Us Strangers get shut out, but not surprised.

(Also it's a shame that none of Rachel Zegler's songs from Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes were allowed to qualify. Ridiculous rule in my opinion.)

Apparently, there is some hubbub going on over a newly announced spin-off of the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie franchise that Disney is planning to go forward with. One of two, actually. There was another project that was set to star Margot Robbie as the lead, but it appears that Disney is more interested in another take on the classic Disney parks ride starring Ayo Edebiri.

And of course, the usual suspects, including the wannabe-edgelord dingus running what was once "Twitter", are complaining. They're big mad that Ayo, a Black American actress, is "replacing" Depp... Never mind that this movie is a FUCKING SPIN-OFF???

Also... All of a sudden, people *love* the PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN sequels now?

I was a teenager when most of the PIRATES sequels came out, and I remember them getting rather duff critical reception. Audiences kinda didn't stick around for them, either. They all opened huge, DEAD MAN'S CHEST with a record-breaking number at the time of its release (2006), but then dropped off and had blah multipliers. The 4th film, ON STRANGER TIDES, came out when I was 18. And I just remember it coming and going, whatever. And then the fifth one, again... Just a sort of "ugh, another one?" reaction. That fifth film, titled DEAD MEN TELL NO TALES in the U.S. (SALAZAR'S REVENGE, elsewhere), just did alright. Like, near-$800m is a great amount for any movie, but it was less than the other POTC sequels.

It wasn't a problem when other big movie franchises got reboots with all-new casts. Spider-Man has been played by like three different actors in live-action over the past three decades.

I guess enough time has passed for there to be this kind of intense nostalgia for these movies. That's cool, I guess. After all, filmtwitter never shuts the fuck up about the CGI on Davy Jones, and how the first three movies are Gore's through-and-through.

As for all this clinging to Depp's iconic Captain Jack Sparrow... As if it isn't PIRATES without him?

Pal... PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN, the original dark ride attraction, opened at Disneyland in 1967. Depp was about FOUR YEARS OLD when it opened. PIRATES existed long before he had a career or had some kind of prominence in the world, m'kay? PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN is more than just one single actor. And hey, why is it just him and not director Gore Verbinski? Writers Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio? Producer Jerry Bruckheimer? They all made that first movie happen, too, ya know.

My MAJOR concern with any new Pirates movie is whether it'll be its own beast or not. I feel a lot of live-action Disney movies as of late are not directed by anyone, they're made for the directors before they get to them. The director is hired, given a template that's already ready-made for them, and then BOOM movie done. Basically the MCU way of doing it. That's kinda how it feels to me. Same studio that won't make a third TRON movie from the previous film's director and the cast (which consists of the guy who directed massive blockbuster TOP GUN: MAVERICK and an actor who lead the massive blockbuster OPPENHEIMER, Disney do you hate money or something???), instead opting for Jared Leto. Like... Make it make sense.

So, if this Ayo-lead PIRATES spin-off goes through, I look forward to it! Pirates are cool, there's still a lot to play with regarding this concept, the ride is iconic. Just... Disney... Get a really good director and let them do their thing, alright? It'll be an all-timer if you do.

My ideal PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN would be animated. With designs based on Marc Davis' exemplary concept art and resembling a 1960s Xerox-era Disney film, like a high seas JUNGLE BOOK or something incorporating the original 1967-era music of the ride. That's what I would make, although I don't know if the public would fly out in droves to watch that, lol.

Anyways, I wanted to rant. People are being silly about a fucking pirate movie franchise.

I got to watch Barbie!!!!

I won't spoil it for you Skip but it was good! I can't wait to see a second viewing and take notes because there is a lot of symbolism I picked up in one setting. Generally it's definitely Barbie, although it's not what you think it's going to be. Everything is not what it seems. It's Barbie, vibrant and pink with the iconic outfits. It's like being transported to childhood. And than they get to the real world which is like the upside down in Stranger Things. It's the reality of growing up. It's honestly sad. There is a few sad moments in this movie and a plot twist that was surprising. There are so many funny parts and adult humor. Ken is such a himbo-man-wife. I loved Margot as Ryan as Ken took the cake for me lmfao. I loved Gloria, played by America Ferrera. Barbie and Gloria has a interesting connection. What was already spoiled to you is that Barbie and Ken are very much aro-ace. Some people would call it platonic if they don't understand it. I will spoil a outfit for you, by golly Barbie at one point ditches pink and wears a damn white, purple, gray and black dress! There is something for everyone in this movie. Some parents are going to flip their lid because there is LGBTQ+ in it. But what I love the most is that they incorporated the disabled Barbies too. They added every doll you can imagine. THEY ADDED MY MIDGE! My favorite doll as a kid! :')

Barbie and Ken both are having identity crisis. They both discover truths. And damn do they really get into some stuff that might be triggering like E.D. and body dysmorphia. I think this is where in the movie it starts to take a dark turn. There are a few serious topics. In my opinion, I am glad it was addressed because there was controversy through the years about Barbie dolls body shapes changes and the old 1950s dolls that would come with books that says "Don't eat." I even remember being 11 almost 12. I was starting to get out of playing dolls but I remember I started having body issues around that time and I use to think I wish I had a body like Barbie. This really registered to me. It hits you right in the tear ducts.

In honor of Barbenheimer coming out, here are my headcanons for how the Stranger Things main cast would fall in the Barbie vs Oppenheimer split.

Robin: Would watch both Barbie and Oppenheimer, and be excited to see both equally. She is a bit of a film nerd at heart and so she’s thrilled about movies that tell complex stories and have her favorite actors/writers/directors.

Nancy: would only want to watch Oppenheimer (she’s a little bit obsessed with being taken seriously and this would be part of it. If someone asks if she wants to watch the Barbie movie, she’d be like “What? Because I’m a girl?”) But would eventually cave and watch both Barbie and Oppenheimer with Robin.

Steve: Would absolutely refuse to watch Oppenheimer. (No double VHS energy). He doesn’t like watching “boring” movies. He’s excited about Barbie because it looks fun and Margot Robbie is hot.

Eddie: Would only watch Barbie as well, but more because of his political stance (doesn’t want to watch a movie about the creator of the atomic bomb) and wants to do the opposite of what people expect of him.

Hopper and Joyce would not really understand the extreme excitement over either movie…Hopper would not really want to watch either, and Joyce would have a slight preference for Barbie, but they will end up watching whatever their kids want to watch.

Murray has refused to enter a movie theater for decades, now. He will watch a pirated version of Barbie online if he watches either of them.

Karen Wheeler would want to see Barbie as a mother/daughter bonding thing with Nancy and would end up getting ripped a new one, to her disappointment.

Max: Is ultimately a girl’s girl and will want to watch Barbie. At first she is open to watching Oppenheimer, but then she finds out Mike really wants to watch Oppenheimer and becomes extremely anti-Oppenheimer just to mess with him.

Mike: Really wants to watch Oppenheimer. He’s always kind of into things that have an intense atmosphere, historical fiction, important scientific discovery. His favorite movie is the Imitation Game, and he has a hunch Oppenheimer will have a similar vibe.

Dustin: Ultimately would prefer to watch Oppenheimer more (because of the science aspects) but when he watches a movie, the most important thing for him is to do it with his friends. So he’ll just go along with what everyone else wants. Ie. When he finds out Eddie and Steve are both seeing Barbie, he really wants to go with them.

Will: is slightly more interested in Oppenheimer (the imitation game is also his favorite movie, and Mike says it’s going to be similar), but is worried about El being triggered by the contents of the movie. So he wants to do Oppenheimer with just him and Mike and see Barbie as a big group. But he is scared that if he says it outright then it’ll sound like he’s asking Mike out on a date. So he just hints at it. (His hints are not picked up)

Lucas: really doesn’t care. For him, his favorite movies are action movies, but he is a people-pleaser at heart. He’ll end up seeing both movies probably, to appease Mike and Max. If he’s forced to choose, he would see Barbie with Max because he loves her and wants to support her.

El: Would end up seeing both Barbie and Oppenheimer as well, mainly to appease both Max and Mike. She LOVES Barbie and hates Oppenehimer. I honestly thing Oppenheimer might trigger her and so everyone (or at the very least her and Mike) would leave early to comfort her.

Erica: Would want to see Barbie as a Statement. She would be so pro-Barbie she makes people scared to admit they watched Oppenheimer. She would go to Barbie dressed up in all pink and fight anyone who thinks Oppenheimer is better.

The lovely @bookshelfdreams tagged me (thanks for the tag!) to do this, and while I can't guarantee this will be a coherent list of characters (and reasons why I like them!) hopefully this will help at least make for interesting reading, if not some very un-hinged thoughts at the very least 🤷‍♀️

Rose Tyler (Doctor Who)

Rose was one of my earliest memories of being obsessed with a character. I started watching Doctor Who in about 2006/during season 2 (I would have been about 8/maybe 9 years old at the time) so I missed her initial introduction in season 1, but I went back and rewatched her stuff with the ninth doctor and I just absolutely loved how she was just an ordinary working class girl who wanted to go on adventures (of course I didn't understand that this was the reason why I loved her so much as a kid but yeah..)

Bucky Barnes (MCU)

Look, I know we all have our opinions/ and criticisms on the mcu (which I totally understand) but there was just something about Bucky that I gravitated towards (Probably because I found Sebastian Stan attractive, but I digress.) A young boy who was willingly wanting to go fight in the war to defend his country and then ending up going through arguably the worst kind of trauma that someone could go through. Then to see his journey and story progress through the years, for me, has been a real treat to watch.

Eddie Munson (Stranger Things)

Eddie became a very quick favourite of mine in such a short space of time (partly to Joseph Quinn playing him brilliantly) but I just loved how his character COULD have been this dark, brooding, misunderstood teen, but he was ACTUALLY a very sweet and warm character, despite what everyone else thought of him. He was just a funky little metal-head D&D nerd, and I loved him for that. I just really need him back for series 5 Please!!

Orla McCool (Derry Girls)

Again, Orla was just someone I gravitated towards, I can't quite put my finger on why, I just really liked her giddy optimism and strange but sweet outlook on things!

Harley Quinn (DCEU) is that what it's called sorry idk about these things! 🤦‍♀️

Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn is very special to me (Especially in her post Suicide Squad era) because she's outlandish and wacky, but also incredibly smart and quick. I'd read a handful of Harley comics and I just think she's really cool.

Elphaba Thropp (Wicked The Musical)

I can't really speak too much about her novel version because I haven't read enough of the book to form an opinion, but stage Elphaba has my entire heart. She's unapologetic in standing up for what she believes in and fighting what she believes is right, and I admire that about her.

Mabel Mora (Only Murders in the Building)

More so I love her relationship between Oliver and Charles, but Mabel's willingness to get stuck in and try to help to solve murders alongside her two slightly older friends was a very interesting dynamic to watch! Also I would kill to have her outfits because girls got style.

Gina Linetti (Brooklyn Nine-Nine)

How could you not love the absolute self-confidence and bravado of Gina Linetti! She was as will forever be the most <3

Tecna (Winx Club)

Although I sat through both seasons of that bad neflix adaptation, nothing compares to the original cartoon in my eyes (at least the first 4 seasons anyway.) I think it has something to do with how it captured my attention as a kid because the idea of pretty fairies to me as a child was very appealing! I think (although the whole group had their own merits) Tecna was my favourite even just from a character design standpoint.

Becky Lynch (WWE)

I don't know if this technically counts since she's a real person, and considering I haven't watched WWE for a while but Becky's in-ring persona, was always a fascinating and exciting watch for me! Especially finding her feet as 'Becky-Two-Belts' and her being 'The Man', she was strong, powerful and for a long time under-rated as a performer, but I loved her so so much!

I think people need to realize that they’re looking at Joe’s projects with a microscope. Paul had Foe and Carmen last year which were both horrible movies. But they didn’t really get any promo and no one watched them. So people focused on All of us strangers which was a good movie that he actually got to promote. Most people aren’t aware of Joe’s worst movies and will only really remember things like KOK and The Favourite. When you only hear about what actors are doing from other people, you only hear about the good stuff. People will talk about Margot producing and starring in I, Tonya and Barbie so it sounds like everything she does is successful but she also produced and starred in a movie called Dreamland that was apparently pretty bad and that I only found out about because I was following a Margot Stan account during the pandemic when the movie came out

yeah and then those same people turn around and say no one pays any attention to him while like… obsessed with his every move. Fucking nuts lol. Idk I’ve been into film/actors since I was like 12 and I know people make good movies and bad movies and when people I’ve been a fan of made bad movies like usually as fans we have a chuckle and move on? Or stop being fans if it’s a string of shit we don’t like? I’ve never in 20 years online witnessed what these people do to Joe lol and I can’t imagine they do it to any other actor because then they’d know like there are some real duds now and then? I actually will say one of the worst things about being a Joe fan is none of it has ever been so bad it’s funny ykwim like he’s made meh films but they’re all mid at worst which is a pity because truly dreadful shit can be very fun.

Friday, April 14th: Mid-Bloom

It’s good to be alive right now. Kelly and Kendall are making me laugh in the group chat, the elderly hippie lady (Terri) and I had a stop and chat about the benefits of meditation, and I’m in the mood to wear a long green sundress as I write this on my bed. 

Aesthetics are everything and there’s nothing wrong with romanticizing life when things feel fresh and bright. Wearing perfume around the house and doing yoga stretches for no one to see. I’m smiling at strangers, it’s all of a little ridiculous. But good vibes beget good vibes, I have my (hopefully final) interview with Diff Eyewear on Monday.  

My meditation today was focused on time. Investing it, wasting it, spending it. Yoga, daily walks, reading, writing, therapy, and the meditation itself all count as investing. Gaming and binge watching count as wasting (but fun waste none-the-less). Grocery shopping and doing taxes count as spending. 

Fuck. That reminds me I need to do my goddamn taxes. And grocery shop and sleep less, but I am poetry in motion, work in progress...a little lazy after all that yoga tbh. 

But, I ask as I run my fingers over the rose necklace Hannah and Emily got me for my 25th, what’s romantic about that? Turbo Tax doesn’t match with my indie playlist of Coin, 1975, Harry Styles, Arctic Monkeys, The Wallows, Tame Impala, Arlie, The Regrettes, and Royal Otis (among others). 

My skin tingles from a post-run shower and my toes are cherry red from a recent pedicure. The house has a good vibe, with Kate taking meetings in a black bikini outside, annoyingly tan. I told her so before pressing my butt up against the glass door at her. She laughed. We vibe. 

I read a ton of “Margot” last night and there’s a letter from it I’ll write out and post next. The writing really is beautiful. And often funny. Literature makes me want live more like a character, see meaning and notice details. 

The other night I hugged James while wearing his T-shirt in the kitchen. He rested his chin on top of my head and we fit. Like puzzle pieces for a night, fitting satisfyingly and separating just as easily. 

My 1% improvement today will be donating clothes/items I don’t use, dressing chic, and eating a little healthier than I have been. That’ll have to do.

Rachel says: this is Margot (gingerbread) and Aemilia (eggnog). To me, they’re very clearly university roommates. They’re both from Vancouver, but I feel as though they’re going to school abroad somewhere, possibly the Netherlands. Being from the same place and meeting abroad cemented their friendship really quickly; Aemilia wonders if they would have been friends otherwise. Margot is outgoing and charismatic, and regularly performs numbers from “the Pirates of Penzance” while drunk. She has a vague idea of being a CFO because it sounds both important and ambiguous, but she will likely marry a European stranger on an impulse and will spend a few years travelling instead. Aemilia envies Margot’s sparkling style, but is much loved for her own soft sense of humour, and her willingness to try new experiences. Although she might not look it, she is always game to try strange foods and new adventures like skydiving. She wants to be a baker, and own something fun like a trendy cupcake shop or a French Pâtisserie. Together, Margot and Aemilia are most often found shopping, going for pizza, or watching old romantic comedies on Netflix. Margot loves brown sugar, which she eats with a spoon, and she only ever reads the life & style section of the newspaper. Aemilia scours food blogs as part of her morning ritual, and has a thing for cotton candy.
