Maroon

Despite the major breakthrough they made and the progress that followed, Kara found herself distracted. She wasn't sure what it was about Lena that made her so fascinating all of a sudden, but her deep maroon lipstick that adorn her lips was all she could focus on.  

Lena had just arrived from an important meeting regarding some international collaboration with the foundation. Kara could swear she’d listened carefully to her explanation, yet she couldn't recall any of the details. Some reporter she was.

The lipstick really brought out her lips in a unique way. Kara always noticed Lena's appearance, her beauty was nothing new, but there was something so enchanting and captivating in each shape she created with her those maroon coloured lips.

"Kara!" Lena's loud voice finally broke her out of her daze. 

"Mm what?" It was only then she realised Lena was speaking to her the entire time.

"Were you listening to a word I was saying?" There was a hint of frustration in her voice. Lena was leaning forward on the table they were working on in Lena's private lab within her foundation. They decided the device was better off in her extremely well protected lab rather than anywhere in the tower where Nia on Brainy might walk in and discover their surprise early.

"I asked you if you finished with the biological reader board. I want to install the genetic calibration panel." She repeated.

"Right. Umm," she took a look at her barely finished board. "Give me a few more seconds." She mustered a weak smile before returning back to her work. She may have used some superspeed to finish the rest of it in record time.

"Thank you. You okay?" Lena asked once Kara handed her the board.

"Yeah, just tired." She lied. She felt like 'I feel like the shape of your lips are the most beautiful piece of art I have ever seen in my life, and I can't stop staring at them' could come across as a bit weird.

"Then how about we stop here for today? You can go home and get some rest." She suggested.

"Yeah. That's not a bad idea. Do you want to come over for a movie night?" Kara couldn't help, but ask.

"Shouldn't you go to bed and rest?" Lena raised an eyebrow.

"No, yeah. You're probably right." She mumbled. "Goodnight Lena."

Lena smiled at her before walking over. "Goodnight Kara." She said, kissing her quickly on the cheek before walking out.

Kara stood there a moment longer than necessary. 

She was very disappointed not to find any remaining maroon on her face later on when she got home. She wasn't even sure why.

honestly the biggest sign that a superhero character is one of my favorites is whenever I start calling them bisexual like it’s a fact. Being bisexual comes with the trade (superheroing) and we’re best friends so they tell me everything, including the fact that they have had sex in a bisexual manner
