I don’t know if the Twisters casting director was thinking this deeply about the casting, but part of me wants to believe that the reason why Glen Powell and Anthony Ramos were cast was because of typecasting. Or, in this case, quasi-against-type casting.

Because a major part of the movie is the double twist that Tyler is actually a good guy trying to raise money for people affected by the tornadoes while Javi is actually working for a real estate mogul who wants to take advantage of tornado victims. So to sell the double-turn, casting is key here.

From what I’ve seen of the actors, Glen is pretty good at playing the jerk based on Top Gun: Maverick while Anthony has that likable persona about him that stems from his roles in Hamilton. I want to believe that the casting director thought the same way. Use the actors’ typecasting to throw off the audience’s expectations.

I’ll say this. Tyler Owens’ turn would not be anywhere near as effective if someone like Chris Evans or Chris Hemsworth played him. Along the same lines, Javi’s turn would not be anywhere near as effective if someone like Tony Revolori (Flash from the MCU Spiderman movies) played him.

I’m a sucker for dumbass men who absolutely have now idea they are literally dating, madly in love with each other and would go feral if any thing happens to their ‘best friend’, while:

- basically living, working, eating together (they see each other almost 24/7 at this point)

- would have a very distinct opinion on any living being dating with their best friend

- acting and bickering at each other like an old marriage couple

- may or may not sharing custody of 1 or many children (be adopted or not)

- having their own language for communication and confusing the hell out of their colleagues and every one they meet

- their heart eyes while the other is not looking at them

They are basically dating even if neither of them get the memo. Everyone else get that, but not them.

★ "What look? Do you mean this goofy little grin?" Maverick gave a chuckle to the beautiful blonde. "I can't help myself, I know you're frustrated but you are cute when you are frustrated." He could see the pout spreading across her pink pout. "Alright alright don't use that move please!"

★ "What do you mean? Shown myself happiness that I've desired my whole life? I don't think you have any room to ask me something like that honestly." Maverick said as he looked at his father who was questioning his choices in life basically and he thought he had done very well for himself in many different ways.

★ Maverick raised his eyebrow slightly as he looked at Finn. "You of all people should know that man gets under my skin more than anyone. I don't want him near the shop in any form. I wish he would get that through his head." It seemed like it was a battle that was continuing with his father and didn't actually have the heart to press charges against the man.

★ "Honestly, I would hope you wouldn't hate me." Maverick was trying to be sincere with Presley, he knew that he had messed up with how he told her about being siblings but it had honestly just slipped out in his rage at the bar. "I hope one day that we can get past with what happened and learn to be proper siblings. I know it will take some time."

★ Maverick gave a soft chuckle as he rolled his eyes at the customer. "It's not like you have a high tab on the books, Gill. It's only sitting at," He said as he looked over the loaner books he had sitting on the countertop. He didn't like having this book but Frank had it for some long that it upset some of the older men in town when Maverick tried to take it away. There weren't only a few men left in town that he allowed this for. "Gill, you only owe like three hundred dollars. Just remember it needs to be paid by December."

★ "Why wouldn't I get a second chance at making my life better? I worked my ass off to get to where I am. I do not intend to screw anything up now." Maverick couldn't help but think of the hand he had been dealt in life but he was making the best of it the way he should.

★ "I'm doing this because honestly, you have no right to profit off my hard work. You never did anything for me to get to where I am. If anything you just dragged me down." Maverick glared at his father who was trying to weasel his way into getting money out of Maverick. He had worked way too hard to get to where he was and there was no way he was willing to share it with his father. The man would probably just piss it away on booze.

★ Maverick gave a smile to the beautiful blonde standing in front of him. "It's not something that makes you special. It's what I see in you and brings out this special little piece of me. I just feel like we fit together like a couple of puzzle pieces that are meant to be connected."

★ "You're right I have no idea what you have been through, but I could say the same thing to you. You really should never judge a book by its cover and even then you shouldn't judge anyone. What gives anyone the right to judge anyone else's life?" Maverick questioned the other in his statement.

★ "I would do anything for you. Just because you haven't been in my life like we should have been doesn't mean I won't try to make up for what is lost." Even though Maverick wasn't brought up with family around him he had always felt like something was missing in his life and once he met his siblings he finally knew it was family he was missing.
