Slithering Hearts
Chapter 3
Pairing : Regulus Black x Fem!reader
Synopsis : You begin an unlikely friendship with the little Black. And soon your whole life seems to have become a tumultuous pathway. The catch, James Potter is your brother.
Notes : Bonding over sibling drama, dramaa
Masterlist / Series Masterlist
The hat was lifted off from your head. Light hit your eyes and for a moment the whole world seemed to stop, the first thing you glanced at was James, who looked as if he's seen a troll, his eyes met yours and then he looked away, you knew about his hatred towards "the slimy snakes" and you knew it was gonna get bad.
The slytherin table erupted in loud cheers as you walked there, you sat at an empty seat, the guy beside you cheered,
"A potter in Slytherin, that's a first, Evan Rosier nice to meet you"
You nodded saying your name, Regulus was sitting beside Evan and someone called Barty, the girl sitting beside you was Amelia Bones who gave you a sweet smile as you introduced yourself, you two were engaged in conversation, but you kept glancing at James who determinedly avoided your gaze, Amelia noticed, "That's your brother right"
"Yes, he is" You replied dejectedly.
"Don't worry, I'm sure he'll come around" Amelia clappped on your back.
"I hope so" You did hope so, although you knew how stubborn he can be.
The Slythein common room was grand and cold at the same time, you didn't notice much, too tired to pay attention, giving a goodbye nod to Regulus, you all shuffled towards your room. The rooms were quite warm, despite the walls and floors being made of stone and the windows being half submerged in the lake. A warming spell maybe.
You were excited to find one of your roommates to be Amelia who you deemed to be sweet and just, there was Merula, and there was Ismelda, whom you met on the boat.
"Y/N right, Merlin, I can't beleive you just jumped into the lake"
"Trust me, I didn't either" you groaned into your hands.
It was only due to always swimming at lake near your house, that you had the courage to jump into black lake. You sighed as you plopped down on your bed, tiredness seeping into your bones, so much trouble on the first day only, you guessed it really was a Potter thing.
The next morning inbetween classes, you tried your best to talk to James, however he was ignoring you as if you were a ghost, heck people pay more attention to ghosts,
"James, why won't you talk to me" you snapped, stomping on the ground, like a petulant child.
"I don't associate with the slimy snake house" James sneered turning to walk away. Needlessly to say, you went after him,
"For Merlin's sake, it's not like I'm in a cult, I didn''t choose to get sorted there?"
James turned back to glare, "I would have preffered to have you in a cult, rather than in Slytherin"
You glared back, "What if the cult would have consisted of Slytherins?"
James huffed, "It's barely been a day and you're already defending them" James walked away to his friends, ignoring your calls. Remus and Peter turned to look at you in what you deemed to be a bit of compassion. Sirius patted James's back, and you had to rush to your next class cause the bell rang.
The last class was droning on while you sat there, staring at your textbook in a disspirited manner. You almost jumped as you heard someone clear their throat behind you, glancing behind to see Regulus smiling sheepishly,
"Sorry, I was asking, shall we leave, everyone's gone" he said pointing at the empty classroom. You gave a docile smile, picking up your stuff, and going with him.
Regulus had known your futile attempts of talking to your brother, so he tried to alleviate you from your dire state,
"At least your situation is better than mine, Sirius wouldn't even look at me"
"But doesn't like almost your whole family was in Slytherin, it mean it was easy to assume you could be too?"
"He hoped I would be different like him and now that I'm not, he associates me with the rest of the family" He sighed. And here you were mulling, thinking only you had the short end of the stick.
You hummed, entangling his arm in yours, suddenly beaming up at him "Well, it's us two against them two"
Regulus chuckled, "Don't worry about it, we'll be fine, we fight, but then we settle, we always do". Although he smiled, his voice was a bit strained. You didn't say anything, tightening your hold on his arm, you tried to divert his attention,
"You know what, I have a plan for James, do you wanna know what I'm gonna do?"
Sirius chucked a ball at James who lazily caught it with ease, "What are you thinking mate?"
James sighed, "Do you think Lily likes me?" enticing a loud groan from Sirius.
As Sirius was about to respond, Remus saw something coming at the window, "Hey Potter, isn't that your owl?"
The owl came closer, and in its claws was a perfectly neat red letter. Peter shot from his chair, already closing his ears. James gulped, "We sure that's for me?"
"Better open it now, before it gets worse" Remus warned slowly moving away along with Sirius. James looked at them with an anguished look, accepting his dire fate,
"JAMES FLEAMONT POTTER, HOW DARE YOU TREAT YOUR LITTLE SISTER LIKE THAT, A PERSON IS NOT TREATED ON THE BASIS OF THEIR HOUSE, ESPECIALLY YOUR OWN SIBLING, I EXPECT BETTER FROM MY OLDER CHILD, NOW GO APOLOGIZE TO HER OR ELSE I'LL TAKE CARE OF YOU ONCE YOU COME HOME, also don't forget to eat and take care of yourself, mama loves you.
Also Sirius dear, I've send some cookies for you, I hope you enjoy them"

The Taming of Man: chapter Four - Dragon Shifting!Katsuki Bakugou x F!reader
Ayo, Merula back again and dropping the new chapter? I know I said that this would be up in a few days...like...an hour ago...but I expected it to be much much much longer. While writing, I realized just how much more writing I'd need to do to get to my original goal, and that much just felt cluttered and too much to put in one chapter. Enjoy my wifeys!
Words: 2,210
This is incredibly based on the song The Willow Maid by Erutan, I highly recommend giving it a listen for the best experience.
Warnings: Cursing, reader is She/Her and will be AFAB in later chapters, Shirtless Katsuki, slight misogyny a little if you squint
"Ok, so..." You took the map from Katsuki, placing your finger on the different sections as you name them. "This is Forrmidūl....This is Novia...-" Katsuki scowled a bit at the mention of the place- "This is Positeel...and this is Marina." Katsuki nodded, his impatience showing, but the smile on your face warming him a little.
Each country was painted a different color to show the borders better, and the forest was painted completely white because no one owned it. "This place is big, huh?" You couldn't look away from the map, studying it. It wasn't like you've never seen a map before, but this whole place was new to you.
"And this is just one continent," He said, almost proudly, like he took pride in the fact that his universe was so big. "Where I come from, The entire world is just the one continent," you sighed, almost to yourself, before laying back on the stump and looking up at the tangerine sky. The dress you wore had that difficult corset and giant hoopskirt, making it hard to bend much, but once you laid down you were comfortable. It helped that you took out that headache of a bun, too. "Must be big," he mused, not laying back with you but instead watching you from his seat at the edge of the stump.
"Yeah, No other kingdoms either. Just us." You didn't look away from the empty sky, wanting to catch a glimpse of the first star. You would have to go soon, you've never stayed later than sunset, but you just wanted to see one star. Maybe they were different here. Most things were. You began to hum mindlessly to yourself, that same song you always sung, and Katsuki snorted. "Why'd you always sing that," he asked, a hint of amusement in his husky voice. You shrugged, saying, "It's my country's song. Kinda like a national anthem." Katsuki began to gather his things, sliding his shirt back on and putting the near-full healing potion into his bag. "Well keep singin' it. I need it to get here."
Now it was your turn to laugh derisively, your eyes finally falling on him as he buttoned his shirt up. What a shame to cover something that looked so beautifully sculpted, each scar like the slashing of a mastered pen on pristine paper. Fuck, wait, don't think that. He's a dickhead, an asshole...and kind of your teacher. "Must be my beautiful voice," you said with a sarcastically coy sigh, squirming to get up. He watched you try and turn turtle several times with no avail, laughing before reaching out a calloused hand to help you up. "Yeah right, probably just your dumb faerie magic."
You begrudgingly took his hand, his laughter making your heart swell in a way you didn't understand, before the skin to skin contact shocked you both. It was completely normal, just one of those small static shocks you could get from anywhere or anyone, but for some reason this one sent a shiver down both of your spines. You chuckled nervously, standing straight up and releasing his hand as soon as possible.
"S-so, what should I bring tomorrow," you asked, trying your best to hide how weirdly flustered you felt. He hadn't really thought that far, he honestly didn't expect you to show the first time. "I dunno...same thing," he sighed. He supposed you could never have too many healing potions. You nodded eagerly, before both of you went your separate ways.
For the next week, You simultaneously listened to suitors blather on and on about how great they were, and visited Katsuki for lessons. You learned a lot, sure, like geography and politics, but it soon became too little for you. You had a taste of the outside world, and you wanted more. That's why, at the end of the week and very end of your lesson that day, you asked Katsuki to take you outside the forest.
"Hell no," he scoffed, almost immediately, much to your disgruntlement. "C'monnn," you whined, walking after him in your giant baby-blue dress (The result of your earlier meeting) as he began walking towards the forest edge. "It's too dangerous," he huffed, stopping and turning to you. "I'm magic," you reasoned, fluttering your fingers and producing pink glitter dust to prove your point.
"You know what kinda shit is out there? The kinda fuckin' people out there? It's not all smiles and rainbows, princess," He said sharply, glaring down at you. "I know that, that's why I need a big strong Dragonborne prince to protect me," you teased, hopefully stroking his ego in a playful and endearing way. He scanned your eyes, sternly examining your face with a hard countenance, before turning to keep walking. "No," he barked.
You stood there dumbfounded, blinking rapidly in confusion. You were getting this, whether he liked it or not. "If you don't take me I'll go by myself," you called out quickly, nervously fidgeting with your dress. You needed this to work. He stopped in his tracks, seeming to be thinking. Moments passed, before he turned his head with a pissed expression on his face. "...Be here at noon tomorrow... and don't wear any of that frilly crap!"
You jumped with joy, squealing with happiness. You were about to leave and let him walk out without another word, but instead you zoomed over and tackled him with a hug around his neck. He nearly fell backward, but kept his balance as he stayed stock still, unsure what to do. "Thank you," you whispered, your voice tight with all the excitement you were feeling, before giving him a peck on the cheek and running off to go home. He watched as you jumped into your portal, unmoving as he processed.
His hand gently touched where you kissed him as if by instinct, and he could feel his face getting tomato red by the second. "Damn it," he shouted, clenching his fists and sending flocks of birds flying out of trees, practically rumbling the ground. You and your fucking faerie charm, that had to be it. No way he was just naturally infatuated with you, it had to be magic.
"Do you have to undermine me every day," Ochako sighed, undoing the knots of your corset. You just laughed nervously, mumbling, "About that..."
She froze and drooped a little, clearly anticipating your next words. "About what?" You turned to her as she released you from the rib-crushing confines of your attire, stepping out of and over your dress. "I kinda need- want to go out tomorrow, around noon this time..."
need sounded suspicious, so you quickly changed it to want for a more believable story. "Wh-" Ochako started, before you cut her off with- "And before you say no, remember that I don't have any meetings, or lessons, or plans, and mother is travelling to meet with the dukes, and-"
"fine."
You paused, blinking confusedly as you looked at your handmaid's annoyed face. "...fine?"
She rolled her eyes a bit and sighed with a smile ghosting her face, shrugging. "Yep, You make a good point," she said with amusement, watching your face light up. You brought her in for a tight hug, and she hugged you back. She laughed a bit, saying, "You smell kinda weird."
You pulled back, cocking your head a bit with a confused smile. "Yeah? like what?" She shrugged, thinking a little. "I dunno, kinda like...burnt sugar or something."
burnt caramel, you corrected in your head, before catching yourself. You smelt like Katsuki. Now that she pointed it out, it was all you could smell, the scent of and musk and smoke and caramel. Must've been from that hug from earlier. "Weird," you said nervously, Ochako seeming to be none the wiser as she helped you into your nightgown and blew out your candles, tucking you into bed and leaving you to sleep.
You could do nothing but take deep breaths in from your nose, wanting to catch the scent as much as possible and make yourself blush from embarrassment in the process. What were you doing? It's not like you liked him...It's not like he'd like you back. You chalked it up to the newness of it all, the fact that he was so foreign to you, that he was the one kind of person you were supposed to hate...
"I told you not to wear anything too frilly," Katsuki scoffed, immediately pissed off at the sight of you. "What? This isn't nearly as bad as the other dresses," you argued, gesturing to yourself. You were wearing an ankle length matcha green A-line dress with light green butterfly lace, a structured yet relatively loose corset, and off the shoulder sleeves. Your shoes were the best you had for walking, your sturdiest pair of brown flats. As a princess, you weren't expected to go adventuring, and therefore had no adventuring clothes.
Meanwhile, Katsuki was wearing a linen tunic and pants that looked to be something like a mix between leather and snakeskin, a solid and thick maroon fabric with the slightest bit of a scale imprint and iridescence. He had thick and heavy working boots, no doubt steel-toed, and noticeably made of the same material as his pants, except in brown. "Well 'm not carrying you if your soft little feet get tired," he stated gruffly, gritting his teeth.
"Not like I'd ask you to," you laughed, beginning to walk towards the same part of the forest he always came in and out of. He followed closely behind, the scent of you being pushed into his nostrils by the breeze gently blowing your hair back. As you both approached the edge, right where the green brush meets the damp fog, Katsuki grabbed your arm and held you in place.
"Before we go in there, I gotta tell you about some shit so you don't piss yourself."
You rolled your eyes, sighing with a slight smile. "it's not like I'm a baby, I can handle whatever's in there. Besides, this is clearly fae magic."
...what?
Katsuki blinked a couple times in confusion, his curious demeanor decidedly extremely cute, and his grip on you softened a little. "What do you mean? Fae don't live here."
"Well I know that. This was probably fae magic used to protect the portal." You spoke as if you were explaining things to a toddler, something he hardly appreciated.
"How do you know," he scoffed, clearly not believing you. There was no way. "Look.," you huffed, slipping out of his grasp and reaching out towards the mist. The second your fingertips touched it, the mist parted with a golden glimmer surrounding your hand, the area around it now visible. You pulled back with a cocky smile on your face, cheeky and self assured. "Since it's to protect other fae, it doesn't work on me."
Katsuki was a little red from embarrassment, clearly in the wrong, and he just grumbled with a slight pout. "Well let's hope you keep that confidence," he huffed, grabbing you again and pushing you through the mist. he held you in front of him, and as each part of you passed through, a bubble of clarity surrounded you. Seeing as he was technically attached to you, his hands on your forearms, he got the benefits of this too.
He could now see everything in Nebel, and to be honest...there wasn't much to see. No trees or brush, the ground covered in a thick layer of dense moss and mushroom. You however, you were way more impressed. You excitedly reached down and touched one of the grey little mushrooms before he could tell you no, and to his surprise, it began to glow a bright and bioluminescent blue. You happily plucked it and its little friends, as well as a clump of moss, and put them in your satchel.
"Why're doin' that," he asked harshly, clearly judging you. "I bet they'd be really great for spells," you explained, continuing your trek. You both reached Leben in no time, and now there was no need for Katsuki to grip your arms. He let go as soon as possible, and the absence of warmth made you feel...a little empty. it was stupid and weird, you just brushed it off.
The entire walk, from Nebel to Böse, you were collecting little things. Plants, jewels, sap, literally anything. You made his anxiety peak in Böse especially, when you reached to pick a fucking fire flower. "Hey," he shouted aggressively, reaching out to smack your hand away. He was too late however, and your fate was sealed. You reached out, grabbed the flower by its stem, and of course....nothing happened? It stayed stagnant.
No flames? No hissing? Where were these flowers when he was traveling the forest? You gently plucked it from the ground, took a deep breath, and smelt the spicy-sweet, cinnamon scent of the flora. "What," you said curiously, noticing just how confused he looked. "...nothin'" he finally grumbled, grabbing your hand and pulling you through the last stretch of the woods. Not even the forest could resist your charms.
After mere minutes, you were at the exit of the Farbenreich Forest, your afternoon adventure with Katsuki only beginning.
Ahhhh I did it! Had to push through some writing block at the end there, but I hope my work didn't suffer for it! As always, leave a comment with your thoughts, I loveeee to hear from you guys!

How about Merula trying to give a homemade Valentine's gift to a tall sunshine jock girl?
hi! thank you for requesting! i hope it’s to your liking!
happy valentine’s day! 💗✨
You rush to get out of practice.
The entire team had thought that it was rather unfair of your captain to schedule quidditch practice on Valentine’s Day, but you supposed her explanation—while still unfair—did make sense.
“No one else will want it that day!” She had exclaimed when your teammates tried arguing with her. “This will be the perfect time to get some extra practices in!”
Of course, she rather pointedly ignored the various responses of “we don’t want it that day either!” but you merely shrugged your shoulders and accustomed yourself to the idea. It’s not like you had a valentine to spend it with anyway.
Or, that’s what you thought at least. But during practice you happened to spot a very familiar head of brown hair in the overwhelmingly empty stands and your hopes seemed to skyrocket of their own accord. You smiled secretly to yourself.
You bid a chaste goodbye to your teammates, trying to ignore the now thin sheen of sweat on your brow as you hurry to catch Merula on her way out.
You’re not getting away from me that easily...
Luckily, or maybe intentionally but from whose side you can’t tell, you just manage to bump into her as she’s gathering her things. Your eyes seem trained on her every move yet she doesn’t even deign to acknowledge you.
That’s okay. You never minded making the first move anyway.
“Whatcha doing here, Merula?” You ask, leaning easily against the stands. “Wanted to watch me practice?”
“Not everything is about you, y’know.” She snips, but you’ve long since learned that the girl’s bark is worse than her bite. In fact, you’ve come to find it kinda cute.
“I know,” You reply swiftly, a broad grin on your face that only serves to rile Merula up more. “But you don’t play quidditch and it’s rather somber out today so there’s really no use to come all the way out here just to do some homework. Not to mention it’s Valentine’s Day and I’m sure you must have much more important things to do tha—”
“Merlin, if I give you your Valentine’s Day gift will you shut up?”
Your mouth closes, but your lips press firmly together in a thinly veiled attempt to push back another smile.
You nod.
And so, with a faint blush that you’d like to think isn’t at all attributed to the cold weather, Merula pulls something out of her pocket and grabs your hand. Towering over her much smaller frame, you watch carefully as she eases open your palm to place her gift inside it.
As what seems to be commonplace when Merula is around, your lips twist into a saccharine smile at the sight.
“A scarf?”
She scowls, but her gaze drifts, diverting to the Grey clouds around you. “It’s—” She groans and tries again. “It’s the easiest thing to make. Plus, I had lots of orange and I used to watch my mother knit and—I don’t even know why I’m explaining myself to you!”
Flustered, Merula makes to slide past you but you reach out, grabbing her sleeve and she stops, her pretty eyes staring up at you, wide.
“I love it, Merula,” You tell her sincerely, your expression bright. “Thank you.”
The flush on her face only deepens further and she pulls her sleeve from your grasp. “Yeah, yeah. Happy Val’s Day or whatever.”
“Happy Valentine’s Day.”

first meetings.
A series of short scenarios (released in order) wherein darling meets the Houses.
Merascula

Her faith had not been kind to her and yet here she stood, trembling and alone in a land that was not her own. Amber eyes which betrayed her feelings were shrouded behind a black veil, but the thin piece of fabric did little to hide the trepidation splayed across tense skin and the hope falling from her hands clasped in prayer. Her breathing was ragged and light and she swore her heart had leapt from her chest to pound in her ears. Even as she knelt before you, groveling, she felt at peace because she was born to live on her knees; and despite it all, her lips parted in awe before she could disallow it.
“M-my queen, are you certain? My...talents are not something to be held in such high regard, please reconsider!”
Your eyes, beautiful in their splendor, shifted upwards to meet hers and her heart nearly burst fearing you could see under her veil. She does not deserve your warm gaze, she chastised, lowering her head in shame.
“Queens do not mince words, priestess”, you assured. She stiffened, feeling your finger lightly trace the precious metal of her golden circlet. The color stood out even under her veil, and her eyes would do the same had she not always kept them closed. “Do you doubt me?”
Her body, laden in thin black fabrics and brimming with magic, visibly relaxed, honored to even feel your touch. She was far more powerful than you or any sorceress in your court, but she melted under your touch as if it were the most potent charm. “You are right”, she finally relented. “I am deeply sorry, Your Highness.” She bowed her head, ashamed by the sheer audacity of her own doubt -- but you were quick to raise it, lithe and warm hands capturing her cheeks so as to raise her gaze. A flinch reverberated across her skin, but you paid that no heed; she was hurt and you’d see to it that justice was wrought in her name.
“Tell me, what do you go by?”
She hesitated, discomforted by the thought of revealing her true name. Associating with her would only bring about destruction, and perhaps she was selfish to seek refuge in your arms and in your kingdom in the first place; but even holy priestesses weren’t immune to desperation.
“I am Merula.”
A lie, but not quite, and she took solace in that -- a sweet contentment that lasted a split second once she saw how warm your smile was. Your arms encircled her shoulders and she almost lost herself in your sweet, floral scent when you pulled her close. You reminded her of an angel; she was horridly aware that her very existence by your side was a lie, a disgusting and ugly mar on the righteous dream you held for your kingdom. Merula felt she must earn the right to be by your side, to be alive; but what was done had been done, and she found herself promising to tell you the truth one day.
But promises were always so easy to break, so easy to overlook when you’re blinded by faith. And you’d become her religion.

Happy Christmas, Merula Snyde
Summary: "Merula's got a secret admirer?" Ismelda asks incredulously, then pretends to vomit into her pile of gifts.
"Ugh. Christmas is the worst," Merula complains. She rips the cheerful wreath off the 1st year girl's dormitory door.
"Whatever, Merula," you say, sitting cross legged on your bed.
You wait until Merula has stormed down the stairs and the echo of her boots fades away, before getting up and rehanging the wreath.
-
"Christmas is for stupid little kids!" Merula yells, aiming a jinx at the Christmas tree in the corner of the Slytherin common room. It sways dangerously, candles flickering, before you rush over to steady it against the wall.
"You want to set the rug on fire?" you scold as Merula cackles and takes off running through the entrance wall, her shoe laces whipping around her boots carelessly.
-
"Why do people care so much about this stupid, made-up holiday?" Merula sneers. She steps hard onto the foot of the second year Hufflepuff singing carols in the courtyard. The boy breaks off with a yelp, jumping up and down holding his injured foot, and toppling over into a pile of snow.
Merula laughs cruelly as she clomps away.
"Was that really necessary?" you call after her, stooping to help the boy up. He looks after Merula with a dazed expression.
"Why does she hate Christmas so much?"
-
"Why do you hate Christmas so much, Merula?" you finally ask testily, as Merula feeds a string of silver tinsel into the common room fire. "Father Christmas never visit you as a child?"
Merula rounds on you in fury. "Keep your muggle rubbish to yourself, why don't you, (Y/L/N). You're embarrassing everyone in our house! I don't even know how you got put into Slytherin! Someone ought to rip a new hole in the sorting hat for being so stupid!" She marches up the stairs to bed, battered boots stomping on every step.
"It's not just me, right?" you ask the boy across the sofa from you, you think his name is Barnaby. "She's even worse than usual, isn't she?"
Barnaby shrugs and doesn't comment.
Ismelda Murk pauses in tearing the needles off the tree in the corner. "You're such a prat, (Y/L/N). You know her parents are in Azkaban."
You turn to stare at Ismelda. "What?"
Ismelda rolls her eyes. "They were Death Eaters, you moron. Everyone knows that." She turns her attention back to the now nearly-bear branch of the tree. "Don't know why it bothers her though. Wish my parents were in Azkaban."
You close your book, and walk up the stairs behind Merula without another word.
-
"Merula?" You say her name softly as you peer around the dormitory door.
"Ugh. What do you want, (Y/L/N)," Merula groans. She lays face down on her bed, boots still on. Her voice is thick, as though she's been crying.
You walk slowly over to your own bed, next to Merula's, and sit carefully on the edge. "I'm sorry."
"Be sorry for bothering me and leave me alone," Merula snaps at you. Then adds, "What are you even sorry for?"
"I didn't know. About your parents. I can understand why Christmastime is hard for you. It's hard for me, too."
Merula sits up quickly, wiping her eyes fiercely and glaring at you. "Don't you dare! My family is nothing like yours! At least I know where my parents are!"
You ignore this. "You know, Merula, we don't have to be like this. We have a lot in common. If you ever want to talk-"
Merula jumps up with a hysterical cackle. "Don't make me sick. We have nothing in common." She stomps to the door. "And I'd curse my own tongue off before I talk to you about anything!"
She slams the door hard behind her.

"(Y/L/N)." Professor Snape's cold drawl echoes across the potion classroom, empty except for one student.
You look up hastily from where you sit in a corner, your cauldron bubbling and your potions textbook open on the table.
"Professor!" you gasp. "I'm sorry, I-"
"You have exactly six seconds to explain yourself, and that is only because I do not wish to give up my own evening to your well-deserved detention."
You gulp. "I was working on...a Christmas present," you say shakily.
Snape stares at you, his face unreadable
.You look down, cheeks red. "That's it, I promise."
Snape sweeps across the dungeon imperiously, cloak billowing behind him. He stops in front of your table and looks down at the book in front of you, reading the title of the potion you're working on upside down. He glances into your cauldron, then at your face. You meet his eyes nervously.
After several tense seconds, Snape speaks. "You have 15 minutes. If you've not completed it in that time, then you're far too incompetent to attempt it again."
Snape stalks away. At the door, he stops and pronounces, "And use "wool of bat" in place of "beetle eyes". It creates a darker color."
He shuts the door to the dungeon firmly.
-
"Looks like someone stepped on your present, (Y/L/N). Too bad," Merula jeers.
You step sleepily into the common room on Christmas morning. Barnaby and Ismelda are opening their gifts, looking pleased and apathetic respectively.
Merula tosses you a parcel wrapped in brown paper. There's a dirty boot-print across the top of the wrapping, and what looks like chocolate oozes out between the twine. Rowan's name is written across the tag.
"I honestly feel bad for people still getting Christmas gifts from their family," Merula says haughtily, throwing herself onto the couch. "I'd hate to still be treated like a baby at eleven years old."
"Fine. Can I have your present, then?" asks Ismelda, holding up a small box wrapped with a silver bow.
Merula sits up quickly. "You got me a present?"
"No," Ismelda answers with contempt. "But I think this one’s supposed to be for you.”
Ismelda drops the box disdainfully over the back of the sofa onto Merula's stomach.
Merula picks up the box with suspicion and turns it over in her fingers. She glances at the tag and reads aloud: "To the most powerful witch at Hogwarts..."
Ismelda snickers and Barnaby asks, confused, "Who's that?"
"Me, you idiot," Merula replies rolling her eyes, as she unties the bow and lifts the lid of the box. She pulls out a small, round jar filled with a thick black substance.
"Is it jam?" Barnaby asks, eyes wide with excitement. "I love jam!"
"No, it's..." Merula inspects the label. "Boot polish?"
"Magical boot polish," you explain, sitting across from Merula on the opposite sofa. "It fixes scuffs and wear and things. Makes 'em look like new."
Merula, Ismelda, and Barnaby all stare at you.
You blush and says hastily, "It’s in our textbook, I recognise it from the pictures." You give Merula the most disdainful expression you can muster. "It's a really easy potion to make, anyone could do it. It doesn't make you that special."
But Merula is glowing now. "Yeah, but no one made any for you, did they? Someone took the time to make it for me." She savors these words, her eyes bright.
"Merula's got a secret admirer?" Ismelda asks incredulously, then pretends to vomit into her pile of gifts.
"Looks that way," you say, suppressing a grin.
"Shut up." says Merula, with no real venom. She's smirking widely as she stands up and walks toward the staircase. She looks back to where you're sitting holding your squashed parcel in your lap and stops.
"I'm...sorry about your present, (Y/F/N)." And you're surprised to hear something like real regret in her tone. "Whoever did it was probably just really upset. I bet they feel bad about it now."
"It's alright," you say. "I don't really fancy chocolate frogs much, anyway."
"Oh, can I have them, then? I never get sweets!" Barnaby asks excitedly. "I'll trade you for this!" He holds up what looks like a large fang.
You laugh. "Sure!" You toss the parcel across the room to Barnaby, who fumbles with it, grinning.
You watch Merula float away up the stairs, clutching the little jar tightly in both hands and you smile softly. "Happy Christmas, Merula."

Merula snyde x M/C (no gender)
Soulmate
It is impossible to lie to your destined soulmate.
𝑇ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑒 𝐼𝑠 𝑁𝑜 𝑈𝑠𝑒 𝐼𝑛 𝐿𝑦𝑖𝑛𝑔
Warning: Spoilers for the "Conjure a Patronus" and "Letter from Hogwarts" quests.
A/N: Damn, this took a long time for me to write for some reasons... Perhaps I have a difficult relationship with Merula, not knowing whether to love her or strangle her.
Prompts: I don't care what they say about me, loving you was really hard, I need somebody to hold me, and it's all for you from this

As little kids, people often thought about having their other half. Someone that was destined to be their one and only, decided by some higher power or whatever. Maybe the idea of someone being created just for them amazed them with the metaphysics of the whole system, or not having to seek love and fail over and over benefited them maybe.
Whatever the reason was, in a magical world like yours, it wasn't so unusual to hear such thing.
Most witches and wizards had their soulmate when they start the school, or work, since they spent most of their childhood and teenagehood in the school.
But you? No luck as of late.
It wasn't like you were actively seeking out to find whoever your soulmate was. All your focus was either on Quidditch, the Vaults and your brother, or...
The task given to you, right now.
There was already so much going on in your life, and you were just a teen, so many things that it made you often loose your appetite and just hang your head low while your head pounded.
Adding finding your soulmate and bringing whoever that person down with you into this shithole didn't seem fair to either one of you.
You just wanted... some peace of mind.
" What's that troubled look, Y/L/N? Spit it out."
You lifted your head to see Merula, your kind of enemy, looking at you with her usual snarky and mischievous eyes as a scoff left you. "Nothing, Merula. Why do you care?"
Merula smirked as she sat down in front of you, leaning the upper half of her body on the table as she looked at you with unreadable eyes.
At least for you.
If she wanted to be honest, Merula was in a very big dilemna. On one hand, you have been her enemy ever since you started school. She always bullied you and your friends, constantly duelled you only to be the one who was defeated... But none of them were what disturbed her, no.
It was the fact that they all made her left awestruck at your elegance, power and strength. And as if it wasn't enough, it also changed the beating of her heart too.
Soon, after she begrudginly accepted that "admiration" as the blonde Hufflepuff said, she had come to a frightening realization soon after you helped her with the whole Dementor case.
She couldn't lie to you, no matter how much she wanted or tried.
"You know how the saying that only those who are pure of heart can cast Patronuses?"
This was utterly so stupid and humiliating. At least for Merula. Her? The strongest witch admitting weakness? And as if it wasn't bad already, she couldn't lie to save her dignity?
To you, out of everyone?
Someone she bullied for as long as she could remember? Someone who probably hated her guts and might just do everything she did to them to her in return, and Merlin forbade it, much worse?
Yeah, that was the kind of luck she had.
You, a literal prodigy and the hero of Hogwarts, as her soulmate?
Fucking wild.
" I thought learning the Patronus Charm would let me prove that I'm not the same as my parents... But now that I'm close to achieving my goal, I'm not so sure if I want to know..." she continued and sighed out, relaxed a bit more now. She didn't lift her head to look at you or Tonks, she could already feel the shocked states you were giving her.
And suddenly, she felt like crying because one, you were her soulmate and two, she was being emotional in front of you and wanted you to hug her thightly.
And after the whole mess was over and she was looking at your expecting eyes, shining with a playfull beam, she considered to be... nicer to you, and get to know you better until she was ready to tell you that you were soulmates.
In her own special way.
"Thanks for saving me... both from the Dementor and from an answer I'm not ready for."
You gave her a soft, understanding smile. Hope for becoming friends blossoming in you for the first time.
"You are welcome, Merula.
Back to the present time, she looked at you shaken after you clicked your fingers before her eyes, worriedly looking at her since she never was this much silent. Because your sour expression is making me loose my appetite, that's why.... She wanted to say, snarky just like she normally was but instead...
" I saw that gloomy look on your face from across the hall and could tell you were wigging out about something..." was what left her mouth. It wasn't like her words wasn't sarcastic still, but considering the fact that she "hated" you, it was a shock to hear that the Merula Snyde was worried about you.
You eyed her curiously while gaping at her, completely surprised how she showed... care? Merula Snyde, the ever crude enemy of yours, being soft? Because of you?
You adjusted on your seat, shuffling a bit at your slightly faster heart. You couldn't lie that since the day you two met, she changed both physically and obviously, emotionally. She was much stronger than she was once, definetly had gotten taller and... more pretty.
At first, when you realized that she could be your potential soulmate, you flipped. Literally. Cursing at Merlin and the universe for suddenly throwing you in a cliché "enemies to lovers" trope while the Vaults and your brother was still a huge problem. The girl literally tried to kill you many times, though it might have not been her intention really, and more often than not, looked down at you or what you did. She was always so against you and what you did so why?
Why did she have to be your soulmate?
Merula looked at you anxiously when your eyes hardened, feeling uneasy for the first time like ever. Every minute you spent not answering her and looking into her eyes directly, she got even more anxious and also curious about what was going on through your head.
But she was Merula, and she couldn't show... care and worry. "So? What is it this time? Is there a dragon on loose in the castle and you haven't been able to duel it yet?"
A snort left you at her question, though you didn't hold back from rolling your eyes at her. "Well... It's not like that, obviously. Though it would be fun to see it and have you fight it just to prove me." You smiled softly at her as she widened her eyes at the burning feeling on her cheeks, and looked down shyly. Your heart stopped for a second at the bashfull girl that was sitting in front of you and not the "enemy" you had been dealing with for the past years. Your cheeks flushed and you looked around to see if anyone was watching you two, because Merlin knew it was near impossible for you two to sit still peacefully.
"I just..." you sighed tiredly and leaned back on your seat, taking the sight of Merula, your soulmate, with a heavy heart as you recalled your memories, or at least... tried to.
"I just try to remember my first magical moment, the first time I used magic... I know Jacob was there, we never were apart from each other." Your eyes glazed over, the missing feeling of your brother's disappearance still heavy on your heart.
Amd Merula, for the first time at seeing your face, felt bad about bullying you about him and his "potential death".
Everyone has been telling you to stop, before you also went mad like your brother, especially your parents. They didn't want their only child left to be striken with the same thing as their eldest, they didn't want to loose you too.
But... What if he was just waiting for you to help him? What if only you could help him?
" I know it's locked away somewhere in my head but I can't seem to recall it. I have been asking my friends about their own first time in hopes that it will shake something loose... But so far? Nothing..."
Well, the sight of the usual cheerful and happy you, being all sad... Didn't sit right with Merula and it definetly wasn't because her heart squeezed painfully in her chest as if she felt your pain as her own. What was this feeling of making you smile and annoy her at the same time? Why didn't she like that feeling on your face? Was she getting soft over you already? Did it... annoy her, being soft and loving and considerate, when it was you who she was involved with?
Nope, not at all.
She gulped her nerves down and looked at you for a second. They aren't some Dementor, they aren't gonna suck the life out of you.
"I... remember the first time I used magic."
Wait... Was she helping you?
You lifted your head slowly to look at her, watching as she was looking behind you to avoid your eyes.
" It left quite an impression on everyone involved." You gaped at her, shocked with your hand up in the air with the fork you held, surprised at her... words.
"Merula... Are you trying to help me?"
That made the red alarms go off in Merula's mind as her eyes widened and her cheeks flushed in a deep red color.
Oops, she caught me!
"O-Of course! I'm the Most Powerful Witch at Hogwarts, after all! And you wouldn't be able to get the job done, like... at all! And it's also natural that my origin story is something impressive!"
"And how do I know that you aren't lying?" You couldn't help but question, your words leaving your lips without your control. But you regretted them just the same when Merula's face fell and her eyes looked at you through her lashes sadly.
A sight that you never dreamed even in your wildest dream.
Just when she was opening up to you slowly, you had to go and ruin it, right Y/N?
"Why the hell would I lie to you?"
No, it was your imagination... Merula's voice didn't shake with disbelief at your question.
You shook your head in confusion, everything becoming overwhelming suddenly. "I don't know, Merula. When it comes to you, I don't know anything except you wanting to destroy me... I mean you lied to me when I was just 11 and made me a food for the Devil's Snare... You can't-"
"No matter how much I want to, I can't lie to you... Trust me, I tried."
That... was the bomb only she could drop. A bomb that threatened to ruin everything, one that could destroy whatever nice things she could do or say.
And though she hoped you didn't understand the heavy meaning behind her words, you did...
"You?"
One word, three letters, and the coldest rone you ever had... And soon, Merula's face twisted in anger and she bolted out of Hall, leaving you in shock as you tried to hold onto her shirt with your heart being dropped to your stomach.
"Merula, wait! I didn't mean to-"
But it was too late.

"What do you want, Y/L/N? I'm studying." You winced at the cold tone she used towards you, her eyes never leaving the page before her at the empty potions classroom. You didn't mean to sound so cold back then, in the Great Hall, but... you were just surprised.
Her? Your soulmate?
What kind of a romcom was this?
Besides, you thought she would never care about such thing, yet alone getting emotional over them...
Maybe you were more of a bad person for assuming so...
"You have been reading the same page for 5 minutes already... Do you think I'm deft enough to believe in that?" You leant over the pillar of the class with your arms crossed in front of your chest, with a soft yet sad smile on your face as she buried her face deeper into her book that she definetly wasn't reading anymore.
"Are you sure you want me to answer that question?" She slapped the book close as she teasingly, yet with a hint of anger which was justifiable, looked at you. You sighed guiltily as your arms fell and rubbed your temples with thight circles. You were already done with blaming yourself, you already felt like a total jackass for what you said, but Merula wasn't helping you fixing it either.
"Why are you so annoying... Merula, I'm trying to fix what I-"
"Then, don't bother! You made it pretty clear then how you saw it... saw me."
You sighed heavily as you sat down next to her, already feeling another headache coming. But you didn't care, if this was the last chance you had to have somewhat a happy future...
You had to fix this mess, the mess you created... Especially after witnessing how much this meant to her, how important it was for her to see you accept her.
"Look, Merula, you can keep avoiding the subject all you want," a scoff left her as she shook her head at you, disappointed with angry tears filling her eyes. Were you really going to scold her? Was she that much of not worthy for love?
What was she expecting anyways? That you would fall into her arms? Call her the love of your life? Her, who was the daughter of two death eaters? Who people saw as another potential one?
"But, contrary to what you might think right now, I'm not giving up on you, I'm not leaving you. So you might as well cooperate and talk to me."
Silence scretchted. One minute, two minutes... It was probably right before the third one ended that she spoke, finally gathering her courage.
"Why?"
"Why what?" You tilted your head in confusion, making her shake her head in disbelief at herself for feeling warm at your adorable curiosity.
"Why don't you give up on me? Clearly, I don't mean anything to you by your previous-"
"Merlin, just..! Let me explain myself, okay? No questions until the end. Once in your life, don't throw a snarky comment." You exclaim harshly, your hands flying up to either side of your face with your eyes shut in slight anger. Merula looked at you frozen, suddenly feeling hot all over her body at the intense eyes you were giving to her.
She nodded silently, a first for her, and nodded at you. You sighed nervously, suddenly aware of the weight of your next words would bring.
They would either be the start of something new, or be the reason why everything would go down for good.
You took a deep breath and dived in.
" My reaction from earlier wasn't because of disgust." Another scoff, met with your raised brows as Merula apologized silently. " I know it's hard to believe, especially when I acted like a true bitch. But... What I meant, what I wanted to just say was that..."
Damn, this is harder than I thought...
"Is that there was no possible way that someone like me was your soulmate. That's why I was like that..."
Merula was shocked. Actually that could be a understatement, because she never thought she would see the day that the usual confident you would sound so fragile and insecure of yourself.
Especially because of her... Because, wasn't she supposed to be the one who is insecure? Her parents were Death Eaters, in Azkaban, and pretty much everyone hates her in the school.
Meanwhile you had many friends, was the Quidditch captain and a prefect who was loved by many in the school. There were probably even some guys and girls who would die to be with you...
You had everything to offer to a possible lover, meanwhile she had nothing.
Why were you thinking like that?
Before she could talk and reassure both you and herself, you continued urgently, wanting to let everything go before she threw a "Depulso" or perhaps even more of a dangerous charm at you.
"Loving you was really hard, accepting it after many sleepless nights was even harder. Because I was scared of what others would think, what our families would think. And the fact that you hated me didn't help..."
"I don't care what they say about me, they can throw shit at me for all I care but you... You are the one good thing that might have happened to me in my short years, for now, and I don't want to... loose you."
She held your hand in a thight grasp between hers as she lifted your joined hands to your eyesight, pointing to them. She would show you all those silly worries of yours was pointless, that she was ready to do whatever it took to fight for you, for herself.
She would live for herself.
"This? This means I care about you, not I hate you. Even when we first met, I never hated you... Well, maybe a bit."
You both chuckled at her attempt to be smooth and you squeezed her hand back in response. You really wanted to believe in both of you, that you two could stand together until the very end...
But what if...
"But... How about our families? Continuing the line or whatever? What would others think-"
Merula sighed annoyed before she flicked your forehead almost in affection. That dumb head of yours is gonna be the reason of your end...
"I just need someone to hold me, Y/L/N..." she said sternly. " Love me without any conditions, any expectations. And... If some fate decided that it was you who would do it, I'm fine with it." She looked down to where your hands were resting on the table in deep thoughts before she gingerly smiled after so long.
"I don't need the money, fame or anything... Though I realized it late. I know I'm rough around the edges but all the love, care, softness and tenderness I have left... It's all for you, they are all yours."
Those dumb romance books really worked...
Wow, I... I never thought Merula had such a romantic side... There is no reason to doubt her.
"Okay." You said breathless, nodding in happiness.
"Okay?" Merula asked in confusion at how easily you... accepted her. Maybe, she shouldn't have made fun of you for being so accepting with everyone else.
"Yeah... Sorry for being an arsehole in the Hall."
She laughed freely at your sheepish look, and you basked in it. She is even more pretty when she laughs...
Behind that laugh though, laid Merula's biggest fear. Now that you two clarified everything... There was only one thing left to do.
"Then... Wouldyougooutwithme?" She hurriedly asked, not wanting the embrassment of asking you out take over her completely. At first, you stood shocked at your seat, not expecting her to talk so fast. And Merula thought it meant rejection, that it was too soon, but you understood her perfectly.
Perhaps what others told you was true: You and Merula were much more alike than neither one of you thought.
"Merula..." you smiled softly at her, " I'd love to go out with you." She was finally able to breathe normally as relief took over and then her mind started to wander. Where to take you...
Black Lake? No, too silent. Hogsmeade? You teo could sit at the teashop and then buy candy and eat it later on the train.
Yes, that was okay... What?
In a spur of moment, you shyly kissed her cheek and bolted out of the class, but not before whispering to her "I can't wait, Merula. For whatever you plan."
Huh..? Well, maybe soulmates weren't that overrated after all, if they gave suxh pure happiness to even the coldest looking girl Hogwarts had ever seen.

Impossible, Pt.2 - Merula Snyde x Hufflepuff!MC
Ship: Merula Snyde x Female!Hufflepuff!MC
Summary: A war is approaching, both Y/N and Merula know that well. But that can’t stop them from making their dream true - it can only strenghten them now.
Requested: Yes - “Hi! I hope I’m not bothering you but I loved impossible so much that I was wondering if you can do a part 2? This time Merula asks shy!naive! Hufflepuff reader to marry her. Of course Hufflepuff reader accepts. You can decide whether it should take place before or after the battle of hogwarts. Then flash forward to their wedding with all of mc’s gang, Lizzie, and maybe ismelda (you can decide on that as well)”
Warnings: None
A/N: I hope this lives up to expectations, I really don’t know how to write weddings. Anyway, I just couldn’t resist a bit of angst here, and it’s quite short, sorry for that. And as a side note, I wrote this while listening to Myaskovsky’s cello concerto. If you’re into classical music, give it a shot. ;)
The house was small, the day humid. It was an eventful period, but in no way positively so. The Dark Lord had come back. Y/N slammed the knife harder on the poor carrot that was at her mercy. She was not afraid, she kept repeating herself. Not for her own life, definitely not. She’d risked it so many times already, she wasn’t afraid to do it again. She was scared, instead, that her friends might not make it, or that someone would be forced on the wrong side. Someone, someone very important. Merula sat in her usual armchair in the living room, visible from the kitchen. Her eyes were closed, she was sighing loudly, repeatedly. She knew she would find herself across her parents sooner or later, and if she had wished for them to be there for her before, she didn’t want to see them now, not in the current situation. Y/N sighed too. Looking at her girlfriend sadly, she resumed her work with the carrot, until she felt a searing pain in her finger and her warm blood seeping from the nasty cut. She hissed, moving to the sink to wash it as Merula opened her eyes and stood abruptly. “Do I always have to tell you to be careful with knifes?” she shot her girlfriend a harsh glare, before patching her up. “Merula…” “I know what you’re thinking. Let it go. Stop thinking about me. I’m going to be fine”. “This will end in war. It’s not fine, Merula”. “Y/N, love, I don’t want to talk about it. Really”. Tears started to well up in Y/N’s eyes as she wrapped her arms around her girlfriend’s neck. As warm, salty tears wet Merula’s shoulder, cold rain hit their windows, and Y/N started to sob. “Please, don’t…” a single tear ran down Merula’s cheek, then she drew in a breath, and released the girl who was clinging to her desperately. “You just made me realise we don’t have much time until it becomes dangerous to even breathe, so I’ll do this. Maybe it will make you smile. It seems ages since I’ve last seen light in your eyes and I miss it so much”. She drew in another breath, then knelt in front of Y/N. The girl’s eyes widened. “Y/N L/N, our relationship started strangely and I admit I wasn’t particularly fond of you at the beginning, I duelled and bullied you and then I realised it was all because I needed someone like you in my life, so much. Scratch that, I needed you. I loved you and I love you and I don’t know what will become of us, I don’t know how much we have left, so I want to ask you to be my wife, so that I can call you mine and you can call me yours, for as long as this will last. Y/N L/N, will you marry me?” She was crying again, she noticed. But this time, she wore a wide smile on her face, and was nodding vigorously. “Yes!” Merula opened her left hand to reveal a small box. Inside was a beautiful golden ring, which she slipped on Y/N’s finger before standing and kissing her softly. When they pulled away, they smiled wider than before. “Come on, we have to prepare the invitations now!” Y/N took Merula’s hand, dragging her away from the dimly lit kitchen.
~○~○~○~○~○~
The wedding was beautiful; Y/N still wondered how Merula had managed to pick such a perfect day for it. She had insisted so much on the twentieth of June, even though the whole week around it was supposed to be rainy. But instead, the sun had shone throughout the whole day, and the wedding had proceeded smoothly. Everyone had ran up to them as soon as they reached the venue for the party, hugging Y/N first, then Merula, congratulating them warmly. “I’ve missed the Hufflepuff gang!” Penny laughed as she made the other Hufflepuff girls come around her for a group hug. Then, the Weasleys walked up to the brides with two boxes in hand. “Our mom wanted you to have these. Of course we got you another present too” Bill said sheepishly, “Open them now, please”. The boxes contained the typical sweaters. Y/N and Merula exchanged a look, then chuckled lightly. “They’re amazing!” Barnaby and Liz congratulated them next, followed by Ismelda, who looked nothing like the weird, bloodthirsty girl she was in Hogwarts. “I’m so happy for you girls” she said as she hugged them both. It was probably the first time Y/N saw her smile, truly smile, not just evilly grin at some edgy comment she’d made. Then Tulip and Andre, Diego, Badeea, everyone was there for them, and everyone was happy. The tables clad in white were now surrounded by coloured dots, all their friends. “I don’t want any of them to suffer…” Y/N murmured as she sat next to her wife. “Don’t think about those things now. None of them will, and we won’t either. Now let’s enjoy this day”. The sun kept on shining on them as the day progressed, until it set exploding in beautiful colours. The evening and its dark blue sky couldn’t cloud their happiness. “To Y/N and Merula!” Penny called out, standing up from her seat and raising her glass of champagne. “To Y/N and Merula!” everyone chanted back. “To us” Merula murmured as she clicked her glass with her wife’s. Yes, everything was perfect, even if for just one day.

anon🍰 said: If I could make a request, Merula, who has a huge crush on the MC that she’s been doing her damnedest to deny and suppress over the years, watching them date someone else - specifically, Tulip, who just so happens to be Merula’s ex. ;)
masterlist | support me | 11k challenge
Merula Snyde had been trapped in her own hateful cycle for years. It all stems from her childhood, one she neither likes remembering nor sharing with others, but someone deeply hurt needs to vent on someone else and she had picked you as the target of her teasing and bullying. She was not sure why she picked you, at first. Possibly because your brother was a rumoured oaf, and she expected picking on you would be just as easy and badmouthing him. Or you were just at the wrong time at the right place. Neither of those options fully express what she had felt when she first saw you: hate. Hate and…attraction. It terrified her, the way her heart jumped all the way to her throat. She had never quite seen anyone so…Different.
She tried her best to surpass these bubbling feelings. She tried to ignore how guilty she felt after another argument with you, or how she looked for you because she wished to simply see you, not make you ill. All those confusing, conflicting emotions she tried to dub as hate. She hates your laugh, your friends, your whole presence makes her sick.
She hates you she hates you she hates you she—
Likes you?
It feels like a new dawn has risen, the realisation sharp, yet familiar. She watches silently, far enough for you and Tulip not to see her, as you and your girlfriend link hands, walk down the corridor, your backs getting lost behind a set of double door. You and she were whispering, whispering like lovers, not friends, and Merula knows how lovers look because she had once held hands with Tulip, too. It hurts, at first. Seeing you with anther, seeing you with Tulip of all people. But soon that hurt spills into venom like jealousy, burning like coals from the inside out. She sneers.
“Come on, Ismelda.” She grits her teeth, her gaze lingering on the doors you and Tulip had disappeared through. The other girl, immersed in her own plots of revenge, glances at Merula, “We have business to attend to.”
“Does that business include blood?”
“It does now.”
requests are open but will take a long time to complete because i have many! :)
