二重環狀自行車道
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On Wednesday I finally gave the presentation that had been hanging over my head for about three weeks. I hadn’t realised how much it’d been stressing me out until afterwards, when I felt so light and filled with energy that I decided the time had come to skip my afternoon nap and go bike around 三重 Sanchong and 瀘州 Luzhou instead! My understanding of Sanchong 三重 is that it’s nooot exactly the place to be (I’d been a couple times because my old language buddy lived there with his parents, but not seen much beyond their apartment living room and a street food stand), a high-density, low-income housing, vaguely-dubious-reputation kind of district, not to mention out of the way. I’d been to edge of Luzhou, but only for the purpose of taking the bus to go hiking. But now was the time to explore. I took the MRT there and walked from Taipei Bridge Station to the nearest Ubike stand (an unpleasant endeavour due to lack of sidewalk plus presence of large trucks), cause I really don’t like biking in traffic.
How shall I say. If you’ve never been on a bike ride anywhere else in Taipei, it’s scenic, and good exercise (there’s probably a better way to get over the flood wall with a heavy Ubike than hauling it all the way up and down the overpass ramp, but that’s what I did). If you have been on a bike ride somewhere else in Taipei (I’ve done the magenta, green, and purple lines on various occasions, just imagine the purple one going all the way up to 淡水) , you might be displeased by the confusing signage, time spent next to traffic or crossing busy roads without functional stop lights, biking into formidable wind if you go clockwise, and more stray dogs than truly desirable. On the plus side, it’s all well paved and there’s nothing strenuous in terms of elevation gain. There’s also a random pen full of goats! With little houses that say 羊咩咩的家 on them! I’m not really sure how to translate 羊咩咩...it was the name of a laundromat in Hong Kong where I did laundry while traveling once, that one came up with “Baa Baa Sheep” but “Baa Baa Goat”? I don’t know how I feel about that, plus the actual sound of 咩 is “miē”. Anyways, the surprise goats made up for all the other shortcomings. I wouldn’t do it again, but it was worth it to try at least once. Also seen: a man walking his bike down a hill with a little dog sticking out of his shirt collar, the aftermath of a scooter accident, some quaint farmland on the east bank, a nice rainbow, a couple guys with raptors of some sort that I presume they owned and weren’t just chilling there, the judgemental stares of many old people as I attempted to get my bike through the anti-scooter barriers (which frankly serve as pretty good anti-bike barriers as well).

I still haven't done any dishes.
I took a nap after not being up long, then I checked with the office if I could have Dymond over to swim in the pool here. We went swimming for a little bit, then I took a shower and made myself a burger. It was really good.
I fried up some ground bison meat on a skillet with a little coconut oil. Then I put it on some store bought buns with two slices of cheese, a fried quail egg, and half of a sliced avocado.
I would like to get better at making these.
When I have the energy, I want to make buns from scratch, mix spices into the meat, etc. I want to shape the patty all pretty somehow too. I want to create something photo worthy to post on Reddit or wherever. lol
Still haven't ordered any Gamersupps. I miss caffeine, but like I might have mentioned, the cake I want for my milestone of freedom from alcohol takes priority over that. I have to be more careful with my money than usual until I get EBT.
I might not see Ghost when they come because I'm hoping to gather money by November or December to see the River of Lights with Mary and Chris. (I'd like to be able to pitch for gas, food, etc.)
On top of this, I am trying to save for a brand new phone. This current one will probably get me through the next year, but I need to be mindful.
Another thing I need to remember to do is pay Chris when it comes time to pick up the desk Camise's aunt is going to let me have. I don't think it comes with a comfy chair. I'll have to tour thrift stores and see.
I also want to order a book here and there on occasion. I have a basic list of books I'd like to own fleshed out.
After my health is more in order, I still want to try some truffles from Emporium Black too- as well as other forms of plant medicine I've been eyeing.
I would love to experiment with some amanita muscaria ointment when I'm further in my Kundalini journey.
This entails doing more yoga, meditation, hiking, etc. after I get my CPAP mask. I'm waiting until I have more prana/stamina and have built up my core with the basics before I do anything more complex.

Oregon Solo Camping
Since my most recent trip was to Oregon, I will begin my stories with my solo camping trip out in Eastern Oregon.
I woke up on the floor in the living room of my first roommate and my fist ex’s apartment. (they aren’t dating, just good friends.) On paper that sounds odd, but we’re all homies so it’s not as weird as it might seem. I had been up late the night before smoking with my ex and watching Rick & Morty. Oregon weed really hits different.
I woke up pretty early as I was starting my solo camping trip by driving 2 hours east out to Bend, Oregon. The smoke in Oregon was really bad at the time due to a fire that was happening. And it just so happened that I would drive straight towards the fire, making the smoke only get heavier and heavier. On top of that. I had been struggling with nausea that morning causing me to be unable to eat anything. So the whole drive I am actively fighting against this discomfort in my stomach and the drowsiness in my eyes and the way the smoke makes you feel. All I wanted to do was take a nap.
After about an hour, I pass the smoke and the skies immediately clear up. Sweet relief, but my eyes still keep glazing over with exhaustion. I drive passed a lake and I stop at a turn out to get some fresh air, hoping it’ll wake me up a bit. I had planned to stop by Devil’s Lake on the way to Bend because a friend of mine suggested it. She said it was right on the road and there are trails you can walk around. So after some more driving I am close and I pass a sign that says Devil’s Lake trailhead. I go passed it but I turn around and go back to it.
I park and take an hour long nap. When I wake up, I have the ability to eat a donut and get some energy. Then I set out on a trail nearby. It’s not clear how long it is, as there are no maps or information really. So I just keep walking in the woods. After quite a while, I run into three women and their dogs. They tell me I’m the only person they’ve seen and I ask them how far..? They said it was like a 7 mile loop? but that it opens up to a nice meadow area. 7 miles!? Hell no. So I decide to just go to the open meadow and to turn back after that. Finally I get there. Chill for a minute and head back. Still hadn’t seen the lake..
I get back to my car and start driving again. I pass the place I had turned around and just beyond the corner is the lake! I pull into the pullout and see a trail that goes around the whole thing! AH So now I feel like I wasted all that time on that other trail when I could’ve been doing this one! Ah well, I still walk a bit on this one and enjoy the scenery. I then decide to get a move on to Bend. I had originally planned to hike at Todd Lake too, but I didn’t have the time.
I get to Bend, have some food at a local restaurant, get some supplies at the store, but not much. You’ll notice a theme of very little food on this trip. For golden hour, I drive up this spiral hill where you can get a nice view of the city. Before the sunset, I had to drive back down and drive out to Smith Rock to try and beat the sun. I lose and still have to set up camp in the dark, but it was okay.
Smith Rock State Park is about 45 mins away from Bend. The camping is not designated spots, and you have to walk your stuff from your car to your spot. I find a nice little spot amongst the trees, set up, and pass out.
I wake up freezing. It’s warm under the blankets, but outside is too cold for this lizard. But I have to use the bathroom. So I force myself up and make my way back when I’m done. Fall back asleep until the sun comes up. I lay there until I get the energy and motivation to get up again. I don’t know what I have planned for the day yet, but I will spend it to the fullest!
I drive in and go to the visitor center to get recommendations. The visitor center here is underwhelming. It’s basically a little yurt with minimal stuff. I ask the info desk what they recommend for all day. She gives me two options: the first was the trail the goes around the entire park. That one is about 8 miles. Then the one most people do which is called Misery Ridge. That one is about 4 miles. I also told her I was heading to painted hills the next day so we chatted about that. And she said she did Sheep Rock and Painted Hills in one day, so I could too. And that the visitor center there was absolutely fantastic. I thank her and head off.
I decide that I just want to do the 4 mile hike, because I guess I thought the 8 mile was too much. A part of me wasn’t really confident in my abilities, but another part of me was. Misery Ridge was beautiful though! The views were stunning and peaceful. There is tons of colorful lichens out here covering all the rocks. The up hill is challenging, but doable for sure. I get to the top and smoke on some rocks.
As I’m on the downhill, I am going back and forth about the 8 mile hike. I really want to do it. I tell myself I’ll just come back to Oregon another time and do it. But I wasn’t satisfied with that. Plus, I was almost done and the day was still early. As I get back to the bottom, I decide to do the 8 mile trail after I eat some lunch and rest for a minute. I had brought my leftover Dough Co. but it had been sitting out for a long time. I took one bite and did not feel good about it. I took one more, but that was it. I was afraid it would make me sick if I ate anymore. So I ate some snacks and drank some water and set out again.
In hind site this was not really the smartest thing. I could’ve done, but I felt okay and I was determined I could do it. The first portion of it was pretty chill. About a mile in, I get to a spot where I’m unsure which way to go. I can see some people on horses in one direction and I look at my maps for guidance. I determine the direction of the people is the way so I start walking. I stop short of the horses to let them pass and the man leading them asks if I need any help. I ask if this is the way. He said if I’m looking for Burma Rd, I’m going the wrong direction. So we walk in the same direction towards the right path. He asked if I need any extra water. I look down at my bottle and say I’m alright. And he goes, “You know it’s like 9 miles right?” I say I know and that I’ll be okay. But now he’s got me a little worried. We part ways and I start trudging up a steep incline. It’s long and it’s hot. I am giving myself the pep talk of a lifetime making sure I’m in a good mental space to defeat this mountain. Every time I look up, though, it doesn’t feel like I’ve moved. This was definitely one of the hardest parts of the trail and I’m glad nothing more serious happened medically from not really eating.
I finally make it to the top. I chill on a rock, as one does. I feel good. Everything from here on out is downhill. I can do downhill. So I wind my way back down. My feet are killing me for sure. And I just want to get back. The last three miles are a blur of soreness as the sun gets low. The final bit of trail is back up the hill to the parking lot out of the valley. I finish strong and drive back to camp.
The campground has showers so I help myself. However, when I entered the shower, I noticed just a single button. When I pressed it, a hose stream sprays out of the nozzle for about 15 seconds before turning off. Nothing I could do would make it stay on longer. One the bright side it’s nice and warm, but tedious to have to press a button every 15 seconds to turn the water back on.
Feeling refreshed, I make my way to my tent and chill for a bit to just rest. Then I go back to the parking area where there are picnic benches and I make some instant backpacker food. It wasn’t bad, so I ate the whole thing! Exhausted from the 12 mile trek, I go to bed when the sun is down.
I wake up nice and early again from the cold and my need to use the restroom. But I also know I need to pack up soon to head out to John Day Fossil Beds. I eventually get everything pack up and head out. The place I decided to camp was called Priest Hole and it was about 2 hours from Smith Rock. It was the only one with a toilet and not in the middle of a “city park”. What I didn’t realize is that it was down an 8 mile dirt road. This road was very rutted and made me extremely anxious about getting a flat or something bad happening to the car.
My plan for the day was to set up camp first so that I could just come back and it would already be done. Then I would spend the first part of the day hiking the Blue Basin since that’s the longest trail (3.25 miles). And then I would come back to Painted Hills in the evening for golden hour. I set up camp at Priest Hole after a treacherous first drive through. I got a spot right next to the river. And then I head out towards Sheep Rock. The two units (Sheep Rock and Painted Hills) are about an hour apart. I stop at the visitor center first to see if I can get a sticker and because the person at Smith Rock said it was incredible. It was okay.. idk .. Plus the sticker selection was wack and I was very disappointed so I got a magnet instead. There was also a snake outside when I had gotten there!
So then I finally get to Blue Basin. My stomach had not been feeling great all morning (as usual), but I finally gain the appetite to eat the half donut I’d been saving. I take one bite and it’s solid. I spit it out. Defeated, I eat my banana snacks and drink water and start the hike.
It is very hot, there’s no shade, and a slight incline. I feel very weak and hungry. Trying to pump myself up and get through. I start regretting my actions, thinking I should have prepared better and actually had food. I think about the fact that I hiked 12 miles the day before off of little food and now I just expect my body to create the energy required to hike this trail too? Well, through all this I make it through to some shade and start to feel better. Smoking helps my stomach. As I make my way to the top, I had no idea what to expect. I was almost thinking water because blue basin sounds like there’s water. But oh boy was I wrong. Summiting a hill, the view opens up to this bright turquoise rock structure. It is breathtaking. I audibly gasp and am in awe. In the distance are beautiful bright red painted rocks. The entire surrounding landscape is incredible. I am amazed this is just happening out here like this. Just an intense beauty. As the trail bends around, I notice another trail that is down in the midst of the rock. I need to go on that trail. I want to be within the colors.
With time ticking down, I hurry down the other side of the slope and start to do the trail within. My boots are killing me at this point. My shin feels bruised and every step is challenging. This trail is shorter so I speed through it, trying to maximize my time in painted hills. I learned these colors are from lava flows or something and that there are lots of fossils imbedded in the rock. And the scientists typically wait for erosion to make the fossils visible. Finally make it back to my car and drive back towards Painted Hills. I stop in the town Mitchell to get some food because at this point I am starving, but my stomach is still uneasy. The town is literally just a single road with a few shops. I go to the only restaurant and get some pita chips and hummus. Then I drive to the Painted hills Unit.
The trails here are short so I first went to the over look trail since it was the first feature. The drive up to the trailhead/parking area was stunning. It opened up to some iconic painted hills and there was a bench at the trailhead that I ate my pita chips on. The trail itself was straight forward, the sun was getting low so the colors were popping more so. I also almost stepped on a snake! It was the same kind that I saw at the visitor center. It was chill. Got back to my car and went down to the other trails. The others were down slope and unfortunately a lot was in the shadow of the sun. The trail I was most looking forward too because it’s one of the iconic spots on a boardwalk, was getting the opposite effect from the sunset. The colors were still pretty, but not what they could be. I went to a couple more spots, one of which called red hill, was in the direction of the sun so the colors on that were worth it. There was only one hike I wasn’t able to do due to time constraints, but I would want to come back here sometime in the spring. I think the vegetation would be beautiful and if it rains, the colors will pop even more.
The sun is setting by now, so I have to leave to go back to my campsite. I make it there in one piece and make another backpacker meal. This one is not so good and I don’t eat most of it. I don’t feel great. Tomorrow I will be meeting Rebecca and Daniel in Eugene to go on a hike somewhere, so this concludes my solo camping trip.
Overall, I learned that I should probably eat more and that I can overcome a lot if I maintain an encouraging and positive outlook.

day 31 : game night
Tumblr media
For class today we sat in the park again. It’s nice to be outside but I wish we could see more of the city. I know that London and Paris are very different cities from Berlin and Prague but I feel like I learned a lot about the city while also learning about art. This class is mostly about the class but we’re learning while abroad. I am still beyond grateful but I just wish I felt like I experienced it to the fullest.
Tumblr media
We took a break for lunch and I ended up getting wings. It was nice, sitting and eating outside. I liked being able to have picnics in London and Paris. I think I’ll need to do that more often when I get back home. It’s a nice reset.
Tumblr media
After class, a few of us had too much energy so we decided to hike it to the Prague castle. The only problem is that it was a 45 minute walk with directions and we didn’t use directions most of the way. We did pretty good at making it towards the castle at first but once we started getting overheated and tired, we gave up on guessing and pulled up the directions.
Once we got to the bridge, we realized that the castle was still a good 25 minute walk with directions. We decided to come back when it wasn’t a billion degrees out.
Tumblr media
On the way there we had popped into a few shops. It was fun seeing all that Prague had to offer but most of the souvenirs were the same and uninteresting. We also stopped in a toy store that had a whole carousel in there and almost life size super heroes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we stopped in a candy store and they had The Starry Night on display which I thought was really cool.
Tumblr media
When we got back, I was thoroughly exhausted. I laid on the floor and could not get up for quite a bit. I tried taking a nap but I we unsuccessful. I had to get up because I had made a reservation at the board game bar for our group and I certainly wasn’t missing it.
Tumblr media
We all got ready to go and headed out. I tried to do my blog while we were there because there was not the same number of players needed for the games we picked. Then I ended up playing Clue and Uno at the same time. I lost both but it was interesting to say the least. A friend that we had made in Berlin lives in Prague and so they ended up meeting us to play some games as well. We played one game where you have a bunch of pictures in rows and you have to guess where your claimed cards were based on one word that your partner gives you. I also played Connect-4 and I was mostly undefeated. In my defense, I was not feeling well and as a result, I didn’t eat which made things worse I suppose. I forgot just how much I love Connect-4. I might have to bring my travel set out and play with my sister sometime. We used to a while ago. We used to play a lot of games but then I grew up and got too cool for that and spent too much time on my school work. I don’t regret it, it paid off in the long run, but I wish I could have found a better balance. I’m still trying to balance home, friends, school and self. It’s never easy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After that, we hung out in the basement of the hostel and talked with people for a while. I got tired so I went upstairs for a shower and then bed. It was a long day and some of the topics we covered in class were hard. I know I’m growing and learning but taking space to process things can be hard to find when you’re constantly surrounded. I’m used to being able to go and be somewhere alone when I need but that’s not as easy when you’re studying abroad.

5th house✨🌻
the 5th house is not what you attract, it’s how you are in the dating world/casual dating, what dates you may like, how you are in the beginning stages of a relationship and flirting. it’s also about your passion, and what you may like to do in your spare time. then lastly, children. feminine signs-more likely to have a female or child with feminine energy. masculine signs-more likely to have a male or child with masculine energy. do not plagiarize🙃.
Aries/Mars🔥
likes the chase(being chased or vice versa). gets bored fast, so needs somebody that keeps them guessing. bold/upfront, will probably tell you if they like you, or how they feel in general. may do things too fast(say “i love you” early, get over excited easily, etc). daring in the dating scene/at the beginning of a relationship. flirting style may be physical(confident/not rlly awkward, and makes flirting obvious), or playful(play fight, tickles lmao, laughs more, etc). might prefer dates full of thrills(amusement park, hiking, skydiving, rock climbing, sports, party, etc). hobbies may be sports, karate, working out, violent or sporty video games, etc. indicates a liking for vigorous/explicit music lmao. children may also be into sports, karate, exercising, etc. most likely one of your children will have mars/aries in their chart, probably the oldest. children may be rude, full of energy, bratty/spoiled, passionate, bossy, etc, since these are traits of aries. a LOT of ppl with these placements get a c-section, atleast once, and most likely w/the first child. unexpected pregnancy is also seen here. oldest is most likely going to be a boy. since aries is fast, your kids may try to be born early, or are born earlier than due date.

selfless, and dreamy partner. another placement that may ignore red flags, when feelings are involved. wholesome in the dating scene/beginning of a relationship. flirting style is sincere(blushes easily, stares, more smiley, makes it obvious, etc). painting, cuddling, listening to music with each other, etc are ideal dates for these ppl, but honestly i feel like they’d be down for anything. hobbies may be painting, singing, listening to music, sleeping, having friends over, drugs, and alcohol, etc. probably has many playlists, and listens to everything. “stoner” music lmao. most likely one of your children will have pisces/neptune in their chart, probably the oldest. children may be bashful, over sensitive, imaginative, lazy, sweet, etc since these are the traits of pisces. children’s birth may have hidden details(ancestry, hereditary, etc).

Title: Jacket
Rating: Teen and Up
Fandom: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable
Pairing(s): JosuHan (w/ Josuke being in his 20's.)
Summary: With the edges tucked around his boyfriend, Josuke takes a few steps back to admire his work, but he’s caught in awe at the sight. What with Rohan’s hair mussed in every direction and his face so relaxed. His hands are still under his head, serving as a pillow in absence of the real thing. [...]
Notes: Btw, I'm doing a writing / fic giveaway! Check out this post to see how to enter. Goes until 8.25.21!
-
Josuke pops open the front door to his and Rohan’s house with every intention of making his way upstairs for a shower after a long day-turned-night. His shift should have ended nearly two hours ago, and he’s exhausted. Most of his body aches in some way after being tackled unexpectedly during a simple stop. The outer parts of his left arm are completely torn up with scrapes and road rash, and, worse than that (all of that), he had to stay over in the precinct to fill out paperwork regarding the resulting arrest. To say he’s over the day would be something of an understatement, but he doesn’t make it to the shower before he’s stopped dead in his tracks.
Passed out on the couch with his hands tucked under his head, is Josuke’s boyfriend, and Rohan somehow looks worse than he does, what with the bags under his eyes and the way he’s curled too tightly to be comfortable. He’s wearing one of his favorite crop tops and a pair of shorts, neither of which seem to be doing a decent enough job at keeping Rohan warm, considering the visible gooseflesh covering his arms and legs.
With no blanket in sight, Josuke decides that the only real solution is to shuck his own jacket. He had already planned to strip down anyway. He’s plenty warm after chasing some two-bit criminal around town, so he doesn’t mind shedding it in favor of keeping Rohan warm while he naps.
Josuke figures he can wake Rohan up after he’s had a shower. Maybe he’ll order something for dinner. He’s not in the mood to cook, and he has a feeling Rohan fell asleep long before he could consider food. Rohan probably should have eaten hours ago, but it’s rare that he eats anything substantial without prompting. Most of his caloric intake is done through snacking, and it’s usually only because Rohan gets antsy sitting in his study for too long.
With the edges tucked around his boyfriend, Josuke takes a few steps back to admire his work, but he’s caught in awe at the sight. What with Rohan’s hair mussed in every direction and his face so relaxed. His hands are still under his head, serving as a pillow in absence of the real thing. It’s so damn cute, that Josuke decides that it’s worth the possibility of being murdered to memorialize the occasion with a quick snap of his phone’s camera. It’s not the best picture, or even the best quality, but it’s something he intends to cherish for quite awhile.
If Rohan doesn’t kill him for the picture, he might kill him if he ever finds out the sort of things that go on in Josuke’s head. Like how he thinks the thin line of drool is about the cutest thing in the world, or how he finds it so damn adorable that Rohan is practically drowning in his jacket. Sometimes he forgets how much smaller his boyfriend actually is, given how large his personality can be.
The problem with keeping those sorts of thoughts to himself, is that Rohan has exactly the kind of Stand that makes him privy to the thoughts that Josuke would like to keep to himself, if only for self-preservation. God knows that he’d be more than happy to lay the praise on Rohan, no matter how much the mangaka might hate it. It’s really not Josuke’s fault that Rohan’s cute.
“You’re staring,” Rohan mumbles from his spot on the couch. He squints at Josuke from under long, tired lashes and reaches with one hand to rub at his eyes.
“Shit, sorry,” Josuke scrambles, though he doesn’t know what for. “I was going to let you sleep, but-”
“You decided to be creepy instead?”
“Something like that?” Josuke says with a nervous inflection in his tone. He fumbles with his phone for a moment, hoping Rohan hadn’t noticed it. He doesn’t want to give up that picture.
“Whatever,” there’s a pause as Rohan’s eyes rake over him, “You’re late.”
“Yeah, uh- this asshole kind of took off, but he thought it’d be great if he launched me into the road first. He wasn’t even that big, but it was over something stupid, so I wasn’t really expecting him to do that, you know?” Josuke’s babbling, but, to be fair, it’s not entirely from nerves. He’s been dying to get home since his shift technically ended. It’s moments like this that he lives for, and he can’t help babbling a bit as a particular buzz of energy builds inside. An excitement that bubbles over every time it’s just the two of them.
Rohan’s frown only grows as he takes in the information and the sight of Josuke’s busted up arm. “Why is it always you?” He asks, exasperated, but there’s a fondness to his tone that betrays him.
“Bad luck?” Josuke offers with a shrug.
Rohan hums, considers the possibility, and huffs at his conclusion, “Sounds about right. We should clean that up,” he nods to Josuke’s arm. It’s since stopped bleeding, but it’s clear that the only first aid Josuke’s had is a handful of paper towels.
“No, wait!” Josuke says quickly when Rohan starts to push the jacket off of himself(-- doesn’t even bat an eye at its presence--), so that he can stand. “I’ve got this. It’s just a few cuts. You should try to sleep a little longer.”
One of Rohan’s eyebrows hikes upward, but the ensuing staring contest ends with a defeated sigh. “Fine, but you need to be sure to disinfect it thoroughly. I’ll ask CD.”
Josuke groans at the mention of his own Stand. He hates that Crazy D rats him out at the drop of a hat. Crazy D’s his Stand, but he seems to like Rohan better. He’s definitely got a liking for Heaven’s Door; Josuke can’t decide if that’s better or worse for his pride. “He’s probably going to do it for me, anyway.”
“Good. Someone competent should be there,” Rohan answers easily with a smirk that Josuke debates kissing off his face.
“Yeah, yeah,” Josuke grumbles and spins on his heels. The faster he gets upstairs, the faster he can shower and clean up, and the faster he can get back downstairs, back to his hopefully will-be asleep boyfriend. Maybe he’ll sneak another picture, considering the way he catches Rohan tucking the jacket under his chin from the corner of his eyes.

Ohoh. Loud boi (mic) and Dabi HC?
Hecc yeah! I’m assuming you mean dating HCs but if not,,,,,here’s some dating HCs :D
Headcanons requests are open!
----
Loud Boi|Present Mic|Yamada Hizashi
-He’s not shy about liking you, not even a little bit. He’s busy af so you guys probably meet at a work event, for any of his three jobs (I don’t know how he does it, like when does he sleep).
-He probably thinks you’re pretty the moment he sees you, but doesn’t chalk it up to being something more. Lots of people are attractive, and he is a man with eyes so....
-That doesn’t stop him from coming over and talking to you, though. He’s pretty good at remaining outwardly calm and making small talk, regardless of the flips his tummy is doing. And he’s a friendly person with a lot of charisma and energy, so other’s are naturally drawn to him.
-You hang out for the remainder of the event, chatting about this and that and the other thing, and it’s a pleasant time. Neither of you really expect to see each other again, even though the connection is there, but somehow he still manages to forget to ask for your number.
-Lucky him though, because the very next function he attends, he sees you. It’s a little fancier this time, some kind of charity ball, and oh boy the moment he lays eyes on you, he is Looking. You look good asf, even though you’re sitting at one of the tables doing literally nothing.
-He makes his way over to you, dodging in between dancing bodies, and finds a seat across from you. Your conversation flows just as easily as last time, and he finds comfort in the fact that you seem interested in him. Throw in a couple flirts here and there, and it’ll solidify his confidence. You guys definitely dance a little before the evening is over (probably badly), and he actually remembers to get your number this time.
-So you text back and forth over the weeks, keeping each other updated on your lives and making promises to hang out again soon. You try your best to make yourself free whenever he has time off, because you know with his chaotic schedule that he doesn’t get much down time.
-Anyways, your hang outs get more and more tense, but not in a bad way. More in a ‘we both know there’s feelings here so what should we do about it’ kind of way. He’ll linger a little longer at your door when he’s saying goodbye, hold you a little longer in a hug. It would be best to just take the leap and kiss him! Not anything big, just a peck on the cheek or the corner of the mouth.
-It results in one red boi. One red boi with a goofy grin. He is not immune to affection from the person he likes, as cool as he tries to play it off. He really wants to kiss you again after that, but he worries that he might not be able to stop if he does. So he smiles warmly and heads off with the promise of a date later in the week.
-Once you guy get into the swing of things and start getting more serious, is when he really lets himself be known. That is, not keeping up his energetic front 24/7. Don’t get me wrong, he’s an extroverted and fun person, but he still gets tired and sad and grumpy sometimes, and once he’s comfortable around you he’s not so worried about letting those parts show.
-Give him hugs and kisses and casual affection all throughout the day, whenever you can! He likes having you nearby, and having your hand on his shoulder or your arms wrapped around him helps him be less all-over-the-place. You ground him, in a way.
-He’ll return the affection tenfold, and is always happy to see you when he comes home. No matter how tired he is, he’ll find you and scoop you up and pepper kisses all over your face. Even if you guys fight about something, he’s always gonna make sure to kiss you before bed and tell you goodnight.
-He can tell when you’re upset about something, and most of the time he’ll let you be and sort it out on your own. But if it’s something that’s persisting, or that he thinks involves him, he’ll want to try and talk it out like adults. Especially if you’re stressed or anxious about something, he’ll want to be there to help you. He’ll respect your need for space if you want it, but he’ll let you know every now and again that he’s there if you need him.
-He likes going out to do things, go on adventures, and such, but his favourite dates with you are where it’s just the two of you. Could be at home, could be on a hike, could be at the movies, as long as it’s you and him. Maybe don’t take him on a hike though, because you know how he is about bugs.
-Speaking of bugs, you will always have to be the one to put the spiders outside. Even if you’re sleeping, he’ll wake you with a shriek and alert you to the problem (he feels bad afterwards when he sees your drowsy expression).
-Probably feels like things are crawling on him afterwards, so calm him down with a couple kisses and cuddles.
-Deadass a cuddlebug. He’s not so into PDA beyond holding hands and linking arms and chaste kisses, but when it’s just the two of you, or you and a couple of his friends, he’s all for it. Stick your legs across his lap, lean against him, fall asleep curled up on the couch together.
-When it’s just the two of you, cuddles almost always turn into kisses. He doesn’t even try to hide the fact that he’s addicted to you and can’t get enough. Depending on his mood, the way he kisses you will vary greatly. If he’s calmer, or sad, or upset about something, his kisses will be softer and slower and more comforting. If he’s energetic or excited, so too will his kisses be. Frustrated? Kiss the pout right off his face. The best kisses are when he’s just feeling extra in love with you; they’re deep and sensual, and he cradles your jaw and holds you close against him.
-A v good boyfriend! He’s perceptive and easy to get along with, fun and willing to try new things, and mature enough that he’ll want to sort out any arguments or stressors before they get too big. He can be loud sometimes, and your tolerance varies depending on what your mood is, but he’s pretty good at quieting down when he sees you’re getting a little frazzled. He’s protective of you, but not suffocating, and absolutely wants you to have freedom and your own life that doesn’t revolve around him: he just hopes you’ll let him be part of it. He loves and cares deeply, and shows it wherever he can, and by the time he tells you he loves you, he’s in it for life if you’re agreeable.
Dabi
-OOf. Okay, I love Dabi, I love him a lot, but he’s a tricky guy to peg down. Definitely doesn’t pay you any mind the first couple times he meets you. You either annoy him, or you’re invisible, so you’ll have to do something to stand out in a positive light.
-For him, actions stand out so much more than words, so if you tell him you’re gonna do something then you’d better do it. His respect and trust aren’t easily earned, but they’re easily lost. What you’ll need most if you’re trying to date him is patience. The only way he’ll believe that you’re really interested in him is to prove it to him by sticking around.
-It’ll start out with a flimsy kind of friendship, a ‘work buddies’ kind of thing. You get sent on missions together, get to see each other in action, get to complain about blood on your clothes afterwards. Tell him stuff, even if he doesn’t always talk back he’s almost always listening. Despite his aloof exterior, he pays attention when people talk (if not to know what’s going on, then definitely to tell people when they’re being stupid).
-Once your friendship upgrades from ‘work friends’ to ‘someone i’d actually hang out with on purpose’ it’s over for you. Once he’s good and comfy, and contrary to popular belief, this man does not shut the fuck up. Sarcastic quips and bad jokes wherever he can lay them, small and slightly rough affectionate gestures (a gentle shove here, some hair being ruffled there). Expect to find little gifts outside your door often, tokens from him that he saw and thought you’d like (usually stolen, but not always).
-Surprise him one day when he’s lounging around by looping your arm over his shoulders and planting a kiss on his cheek. It might shock him enough that little flames erupt around him, which is both endearing and worrying, considering the fact that his quirk hurts him.
-He’s quieter for a few days after that. He’s not ignoring you, he’s just thinking really hard. About feelings. Eventually he’ll tug you outside to walk around the block with him, and he’ll just lay it on you; he likes you, you like him, you’re his now, and he’s yours.
-He doesn’t fuck around with feelings, doesn’t like any of those games where you dance around each other or try to make each other jealous. If you’re mad about something, tell him. If you’re feeling a little neglected or underappreciated, tell him. He might sigh and pretend to be annoyed about it, but he’ll pull you down onto the nearest couch and hold you tightly until you feel better.
-He doesn’t care about PDA. If he wants to cuddle you and pet your hair when the rest of the league is around, then guess what? He’s doing it. Even if you’re a little embarrassed, he’ll just let you hide your face in his shirt. Screw what other people think, he likes you and he’s not shy about it.
-He is careful about who he shows off your relationship to, though. He’s fine with the league because for the most part he trusts them and considers them companions (or at the very least, people who have the same goal as him), but out in public? He’s already gotta be careful where he goes, being a wanted criminal and all, but he knows a lot of other villains who’d use you to get to him, or who would sell him out and get you hurt in the process.
-He’s pretty low energy, so napping together is a thing. Even if you don’t sleep while he does, please lay beside him for a while and pet his hair. It’s very rare that he gets any kind of positive touch, let alone prolonged positive touch. You’re basically his only source of oxytocin.
-He’s extra affectionate hen he wakes up from a nap, and less abrasive about it. As soon as he comes to and stretches, he’s looking around for you. If you’re still beside him, he’ll press soft kisses all over your face.
-His kisses tho. You never would have expected this guy to have such gentle kisses, yet here he is. It’s an intimate thing for him, and probably the only way he knows how to comfortably express his love for you. He’s not verbal about his feelings, so he pours them into his kisses and hopes you get the message. The only time he’s ever rougher or desperate about things is when he’s riled up in some way.
-He’s a bad boy, but such a good boy, ya feel? it’ll take time and persistence to get on his good side, let alone get on his feelings radar, but once you do? Treat him with honesty and maturity, and he’s with you for life. Deadass the boyfriend who would kill for you, and will protect you til his dying breath. Some might consider you one of his weaknesses, but you’re actually one of the reasons he fights so hard to change the world. He’s loving in his own way, and would never willingly hurt you or lay a hand on you, even if he’s livid about something. 10/10 would smooch!

Things you said prompt number 17? Feeling like reading a bit of Jigoe angst 😁
17. Things you said that I wish you hadn’t
A lot could change in two months.
Jigen had been living wild since Lupin’s last supposed death (drowning, no body discovered, all of them far too jaded with him now to believe he was truly gone). In Jigen’s case, he probably wouldn’t have believed it even with a body. He knew how conniving Lupin could be. But there’d been no word from him, nothing but rumors of his continued existence on the mortal plane, and now they’d been summoned to one of their most secluded hideouts - not by him, but by Fujiko.
Jigen damn well hoped she knew something he didn’t, because he wasn’t going to work for her. But because she really might know something - and because Jigen was a damned idiot who didn’t know what was good for him - he was here.
It was one of their nicest places, too. Small, on a lakeside, hidden behind some big grassy hills and surrounded for miles by woods. A good place to rest. When they’d been up here together last, Goemon had hung wind chimes and the four of them had planted a garden which was now, as Jigen could see, overrun with weeds, but the chimes were still singing.
He parked his car and sat for a minute. No idea who’d be inside. There were no other vehicles he could see but that didn’t mean the house was empty. He just wasn’t sure he was ready to face any of them.
~
Two months ago Jigen had gotten the news and buried his grief because at this point he was numb to it. Lupin liked to screw around like this - he was magnificent and selfish and saw his own life as a stageplay that the world watched with baited breath. When he died - truly died, he’d assured Jigen long ago - it would be spectacular, the kind of death that shook the world to its core and that people would immortalize in song and story for centuries upon centuries to come.
Drowning wasn’t it, so Lupin was coming back. Probably. Either way that wound had cauterized itself long ago, for Jigen. It wouldn’t do any good to grab Lupin by the throat and demand what he couldn’t give. It didn’t seem to matter that Jigen got shaken to the core every single fucking time but Jigen was just one man, and he didn’t know how to write stories. So on it went.
Goemon was different. After the news came they’d stood together with their bags packed, ready to separate for an uncertain amount of time, and Jigen, shaken, had turned to the one man he loved who he was certain was still breathing and offered himself. What did a samurai need with a partner? Apparently nothing, because Goemon had refused his service and left. And it was that simple refusal that had been grating on Jigen since they’d seen each other last, because somehow, in his infinite stupidity, he’d thought Goemon cared enough about him to want to stick together. Somehow he’d made that mistake.
But no. Jigen was a man who faltered without someone to ride beside, but Goemon worked just fine alone.
~
After two months living city to city in and out of dives and the seediest motels money could buy, it was strange to be in a place with wind chimes. It felt like a waking dream, like none of this was quite real, or maybe it was just the scotch messing with his head. Didn’t matter. The door was unlocked and Jigen walked in with a rush of apprehension.
Nobody. The place was clean and empty and abandoned.
“Fujiko?” he asked to no one. She’d called them, so she should be here. But apparently not. “Lupin?” he called, more hesistant now. If Lupin were to truly just show up like this, casually, as if Jigen’s life were just an intermission he could stroll into whenever he felt like it - Jigen would probably shoot him dead right there and just get the inevitable over with. But he was still gone.
“Goemon?” He wasn’t here either. That made it easier. He shuffled off to the kitchen to get himself another drink and then slumped on the couch for a nap. The drive up here had been way too long.
~
Jigen awoke with a start in the early evening to find that he was no longer alone, that there was a shadow hovering by the window. He scrambled up; taking in through his dazed and blurry vision who it was. “Goemon?” he asked.
“It’s me.”
In spite of the rage and bitterness that he’d been clinging to for the past two months in a desperate bid to keep from collapsing, Jigen’s heart still pulled towards Goemon. Soft as he was, he would have forgiven Goemon for that abandonment. He would have forgiven him for anything.
Anything except for what he did a moment later, which was to recoil when Jigen approached him. “Jigen? Where have you been living?”
“Around,” Jigen said, taken aback by the reaction, his anger slowly rising. Damn him, he didn’t even want to go through a proper greeting? Even now? “Why? Do you care?”
Goemon studied Jigen for a long moment before looking away. “You look terrible. I would not doubt you haven’t even been trying to take care of yourself. Why didn’t stay in one of the safe houses? Lupin would not have denied you that.”
In truth, Jigen hadn’t stayed because it would have been hell on earth. Living day to day, alone in one of those empty half-homes with way too many memories per square inch but no people in sight. He couldn’t take it. Jigen needed cites; that impersonal human contact where no one knew you from Adam and didn’t give a shit in hell about you but where you were never isolated, never cut off from the world. There was security in living like a rat in a wall.
He didn’t say any of that to Goemon, though. Instead he decided to opt for something much nastier. “Maybe I just like living in filth. Guess we can’t all be as honorable and perfect as you, can we? Where were you? Wait - I can guess - training yourself up so you can get a better gig and stop associating with mangy dogs like me.”
Goemon’s gaze flickered angrily but he kept calm. “I have been training,” he said coolly. “And you are drunk by the sound of it. Not that I’m surprised.”
Jigen’s rage flared up again, in full force. “What the hell’s that supposed to mean? You’re not surprised? What, you want to fight me? I’ll show you how fucking drunk I am.”
Goemon didn’t move, nor did he make a motion to draw his sword. “I did not come here to fight anyone, least of all you. I came here because Fujiko sent for me.”
“Yeah? Well fuck Fujiko. Fuck her and fuck you. I’m out.”
He made it twenty miles back towards where he’d come from before he realized he hadn’t put gas in the car, ran out, toyed briefly with sleeping in the ditch on the side of the road, thought better of it, and began the long hike back to the house. He made it in by 1 am and collapsed onto the couch, too exhausted for words.
~
In the morning Jigen wasn’t mad anymore. Mostly because he felt like he’d been run over by a truck. Just didn’t have the energy, but more than that, he felt guilty about taking his losses out on Goemon. It wasn’t Goemon’s fault Jigen couldn’t survive two measly months flying solo without having a complete breakdown. Goemon had tucked himself away in the bedroom and wasn’t coming out. Fujiko was nowhere to be seen, still, and Lupin... who knew.
Jigen sat around for a while and smoked and wished he hadn’t come. But he had come, and he’d screwed things up, so. Over to the bedroom door he went, and knocked.
“Hey,” he asked hoarsely, opening the door a little. “You still mad?”
There was no reply, which meant the answer was probably yes.
“Cause... look, man, I’m sorry. I’m sorry about every stupid half-assed thing I said to you last night. And I didn’t mean a word of it. I just wanted to fight somebody and you were the only one here.”
Still silence.
“But that doesn’t make it right.”
No response.
“I’m comin’ in,” Jigen said finally. He wasn’t immediately sliced in half, so that was a good sign at least. Goemon was sitting on the bed, facing away from the door, deathly still and silent. “Goemon? Please look at me.”
Goemon did not. For all that, Jigen might have been invisible.
He took a step closer. “Look, I don’t care what you say to me,” he said between shaking breaths. “I don’t friggin’ care, Goemon. You can cuss me out if you want. You can say whatever you want to me - you can call me the lowest, dirtiest, most pathetic damn bastard you’ve ever met in your entire life. I don’t give a shit, I know what I am, I just - “ he broke off, pleading. “Just hold me, Goemon, for fuck’s sake I just need you right now, and -”
The words struck home. Goemon turned, looking startled, and reached out to Jigen. For a long while they clung to each other, squeezing tight, Jigen burying his face against Goemon’s neck, twining his fingers through his hair, and Goemon gripping Jigen around the waist and running a hand down his back, over and over.
“Did I hurt you? Bad?” Jigen asked finally, settling down on the bed next to Goemon, who, by some miracle, didn’t pull away, even when Jigen leaned against his shoulder.
“Nothing that I cannot survive. I’ve been training, remember,” Goemon said softly. “And you’re sure you’re all right? You don’t look well.”
“I feel like shit, but it’s just part of the territory. I’ll get better,” Jigen said.
“Good. I was worried about you, you know. While I was alone I was able to improve myself - I hope to be strong enough now to keep you and Fujiko safe at all costs. But I knew that the price was that I had to leave you alone for that time.”
“Well, I’ve been alone before,” Jigen said nonchalantly. “It’s okay. I’m used to it. It was kind of fun not having to do the dishes or listen to Lupin’s chatter.”
“I miss Lupin’s chatter,” Goemon replied.
“Yeah,” Jigen said sadly. “I do too.” They sat for a moment, united in loss. “Hey, Goemon?” Jigen asked after a minute. “Can we forget about yesterday? I’d rather just start over.”
Goemon sighed. “Yes, I think that would be best.”
The rest could come later. Fujiko’s plan, Lupin’s revival. For now, the two of them simply rested, side by side, for the remainder of the morning. They had a lot of catching up to do.

First Date Headcanons (Pro Heroes)
Featuring All Might (Toshinori Yagi), Midnight (Nemuri Kayama), Eraserhead (Shouta Aizawa), Present Mic (Hizashi Yamada), Mirko (Rumi Usagiyama) and Hawks (Keigo Takami)
No warnings, just fluff.
Toshinori Yagi
I’m not saying he asked Midoriya for advice, but he 100% asked Midoriya for advice.
I’m fairly sure that for him to ask someone on a date it would probably be someone he knows quite well especially now he can’t maintain muscle form, which means Izuku also knows them and we all know what broccoli boy is like for writing notes on people.
He suggests going to the date in muscle form, given he’s still pretty insecure about how he looks, but is quickly dissuaded of the notion (read: Midoriya bonks him on the head).
The date itself is pretty classic, he takes you out to a nice restaurant, once again glad that people don’t really recognise him out of ‘work’. And if you stop functioning for a few moments when you see him in a suit, well no one needs to know.
He’s so polite and such a gentleman you melt for him a little more every moment that passes, and you really hope he feels the same. Though the nervous energy and occasional stumbles over words at least hint he’s feeling some of the things you are.
At the end of the night he sees you home, blushing bright pink when you kiss him on the cheek. He doesn’t leave without promising you’ll do this again.
Nemuri Kayama
You’re pretty nervous about your date with Nemuri, she has a reputation as the R-rated hero and you can’t help but imagine some… less than family friendly worst case outcomes.
None of this is helped by her occasional jokes about dungeons (she likes to see you squirm).
When the date comes though you’re pleasantly surprised. She takes you to a nice wine bar, the kind of place where you can talk comfortably and pick at small snacks to soften the effect of the alcohol.
It’s so much fun, she tells you stories about being a hero and in return you tell her all kinds of things about your life.
By the end of the night you’re walking back together, leaning against each other and slightly tipsy when she asks to kiss you. You melt into her, letting her murmur promises of more dates against your lips.
Shota Aizawa
Okay, so this one requires a lot of help. He doesn’t really do dating and honestly he just wants to curl up in his sleeping bag and nap. Luckily he has Hizashi and Nemuri to kick him into gear.
You’re the one who asked him on a date (and you were surprised when he agreed) so all he really needs to do is turn up and look presentable, so at least his friends’ job is pretty simple even if he does complain the whole time.
When he meets you at the restaurant in a suit with his hair tied up you malfunction for a few moments, you’ve never seen him look so good.
It’s a small place, fancy enough that neither of you look out of place dressed up, but casual enough to avoid all the pretentious elements of fine dining you know he would hate.
You've never seen him smile so much before in your life and it makes the hope he feels the same as you burn all the more bright.
He makes sure you're home safely, and while he doesn't say anything when you kiss his cheek goodnight you get a text from him a few minutes later asking for a second date (his brain may or may not have short circuited from the kiss and he totally forgot until after he left).
Hizashi Yamada
Hizashi was the one who asked, it wasn't as loud and over the top as you thought it might be but it was a bit cheesy.
For the date itself he presents you with two tickets to see a band you love, you're touched he remembered you mentioning it but he shrugs it off as a perk of agreeing to go on a date with a DJ.
At the venue he guides to you a private area, you're not sure how many people recognise him without the signature hair and gear but its thoughtful of him to try and prevent interruptions to your date.
After the show he introduces you to the band and you're just about ready to ask for his hand in marriage on the spot.
His grin when you ask if he would like to go on another date some time is so broad it threatens to split his cheeks and he barely manages to catch himself for he shatters all your windows in a cheer.
Rumi Usagiyama
Your first date with Rumi is… unconventional. You knew she wouldn’t be the fancy restaurant type when she asked you out, all cocky grin and confident words.
She takes you hiking, and you joke that you’re surprised she didn’t ask you to spar with her instead. She huffs and mutters something about the next date which stops you in your tracks.
It’s a fun day, you always knew Rumi was an active person and it’s good to spend time with her doing something she enjoys. She takes you to some gorgeous hidden spots, away from the public, and carries you when you’re tired.
By the time you make it home you’re not sure you could even be any more attracted to this woman, but then she kissed you on the forehead and promised you a round 2 and you almost melted on the stop.
Keigo Takami
He's so smooth and casual when he asks you on a date you almost think he's joking. But there's a touch of anxiety in his eyes and the tremble of his wings so you agree.
He’s too recogniseable to go out with you anywhere public, at least not without being surrounded by fans, and he wants this date to just be about you.
So he picks you up and literally flies you out to a remote scenic spot, picnic basket in hand. You might be a little windswept when you arrive but he still looks at you like the most beautiful thing in the world.
It’s not what you expected from him, at all, but somehow it’s perfect. The two of you enjoying the sunshine and each others company, no fans to worry about, no unexpected villain attacks, and a lot of yakitori chicken.
He flies you back once it starts to get cold, holding you tight against the warmth of his body. When you land he looks uncharacteristically nervous, as if he wants to say something but can’t, so instead you’re the one who asks if he’d like to do it again.
He beams at you with such bright joy it’s almost blinding,

The Never-Ending Roadtrip (there’s nothing wrong with Ohio)

A/N: AAAAAHHH i gotta stop writing shit at 3am. it’s showing. also i cant believe i reworked their entire planned trip route for this. ajhqhdsjhfljh i have no excuses for any of this
Tumblr media
Douxie was uncharacteristically quiet during the trip through the first bit of Indiana. Y/n hung over the railing feeling awkward. The treetops below flew past her in a blur. Y/n kinda felt bad, like maybe she had broken him. Did she nudge a little too hard? She had thought, if anything, her flirting would get him flirting too. Hell, Doux flirted with everyone. It was just part of his charismatic persona he’d built over the years. And he had been so strange this week, but especially strange during the time they’d spent on the road. Every time Y/n had thought she’d figured something out with him, he’d surprise her.
Douxie was still processing what had happened earlier that day. He may have been going mad finally, immortals do tend to do that, but he was starting to think Y/n had feelings for him too. Which was something he had to be imagining, and yet she kept making it really hard to dismiss. Maybe it was just that their trip to St. Louis had felt pretty damn close to a date. His gaze lingered over her form, looking out at the scenery, covered in his jacket, a little piece of him to always cling to her skin, mingling their scents. His eyes snapped back to the sky in front of him as he narrowly dodged a telephone wire tower.
They had decided on taking one last pit stop before settling for the night. They were making their way up to Cleveland, which was a little unnecessarily high north into Ohio, but since Y/n was the one holding the map so to speak, she got to shift their course, almost to her whim even. Douxie was happy with anything as long as they kept moving. There was something she wanted to see in Cleveland. It’s not like Douxie wouldn’t enjoy it too, though. In fact, if her memory served her correctly, Douxie might enjoy the trip more than her. Back to that last pit stop. Hoosier National Forest. Somewhere nice and nature-y for Nari, and as a bonus, nice and forested for magic boat hiding. It would be a good opportunity to stretch out their legs.
Speaking of stretching, Y/n stretched out her arms to the expanse below, her fingers spread with the wind whistling between them, and she let out a soft groan. She was just trying to make her shoulders less stiff, she had been holding onto that railing tightly for quite a while now, but Douxie did not like that action one bit. He locked his staff in place at the helm, giving him just enough time to loop his arm around her midsection and pull her back into the center of the ship. He was able to return quick enough to stop them from hitting the top of a particularly tall evergreen. Y/n was still confused as to what just happened.
“Why don’t you take a seat now, Love.”
She did as she was told, less confused now, yet disgruntled at the fact the Doux had just scooped her away like she was a tiny kitten he was keeping from jumping off the couch.
Hoosier National Forest was magnificent. Well, Y/n thought all forests were wonders, but this one was still great, promise. There were tall trees and big rocks and waterfalls. What more does a national forest need. She managed to convince Douxie that they should go for a hike. Just a little trail, only half an hour, scouts honour. They had flown most of the way, and a brisk walk was what they all needed. It would be good for Nari, after all. Archie took a hard pass, in favor of yet another nap in the sun.
There was a waterfall nearby. A small one, but a waterfall nonetheless. Y/n had pulled up the map of the forest on her phone. Thank the stars for living in a cyberpunk dystopia. She led the way on the trail, until Nari told her that she could feel the waterfall and they could get there faster if they stepped off the path and made their own way. A bad idea, really, don’t do this. Y/n was all for it, to Douxie’s dismay. He had hoped she’d be more sensible, but no, now they were climbing down a steep rocky hill with a literal spirit guide. Nari led them through more twists and bigger rocks to climb over. Douxie tried his best to keep up with Y/n, to keep a hand on her, but she and Nari were moving too fast. At least he could still see them. If Y/n ate the dirt he’d just have to patch her up, he supposed.
Once they made it to the waterfall site, coming out of some brush, they took a moment to rest. Apparently, they were supposed to relax and enjoy feeling the waterfall’s aura or something but Douxie was too preoccupied on assessing the damage from the trek. After he voiced his concern, Y/n boasted that she made it here with only a few scratches and only one cut. Completely normal Dewdrop. Douxie was going to make her take the actual path back. He was probably ruining the waterfall’s calming energy.
After patching up Y/n with bandages and alcohol from the pack on his back, Douxie took a moment to actually take in the water feature. It had carved itself through the rocks it came forth from. It wasn’t powerful when it began, but capable of cutting through solid sediment now. Thousands of years, spent in the same rock formation, and yet none of the water flowing was water that had been there before. Constantly moving, and going nowhere. Neatly polished stones as it’s only reward. Doux was starting to get uncomfortable thinking about this insentient piece of nature now.
They weren’t planning on stopping again until the next national forest, Wayne, so they picked up a bite to eat from a camp store on their way out. Not exactly a restaurant, their meal consisted mostly of beef jerky, almonds, and some dried fruit. Eh, good enough. It was easy to eat on the fly. Pun intended. And it reminded Douxie a little of the dried winter foods he used to eat back in the day. A good meal indeed.
` ` `
The sun had set hours ago. Douxie was keen on spending another night flying until morning but Y/n and Nari looked like wilted flowers. Nari a little more literally. They were slumped over on each other, barely keeping their eyes open. Y/n’s eyelids fluttered. He supposed they could spend yet another night actually getting a decent amount of sleep, in a comfortable bed, and not the deck of a magic flying boat or whatever. They were still in Wayne National Forest but he could see lights up ahead. Not many, but enough that it was probably another tiny town.
Douxie steered the boat to the outskirts of the town. Not much going on, but they were in the middle of nowhere yet again after all. He called over to Y/n, who gave a jolt at the sound of her name, waking her up enough to give him her attention. He watched as she looked around, gaining her bearings. The town itself was nothing they hadn’t come across dozens of times before. Despite the inky blackness from the thin moon, and the remoteness of location, the town had a homey vibe to it. A relief, after yesterday. This town had either already started decorating for Christmas despite it being September, or never took down their decorations from last year. The lights in the trees made up for the absence of the moon, glistening off the orange leaves. This town still had a drive-in movie theater, and it was showing Roman Holiday, for some reason. It looked like more than half the town’s population was parked in that drive-in. It was almost like this little place was stuck in time.
Y/n pointed over to a gingerbread house. The hanging sign swung in the wind, reading Avalon Bed and Breakfast, painted in fancy blue cursive letters. There was an illustration of a floating island under the script. Douxie wasn’t exactly feeling good about that name, they had had enough of spending the night in someone’s final resting place last night. Sure, it looked harmless enough, but most Venus wizardtraps did. There was a wrap-around porch, illuminated by the warm light spilling from the windows, and a woman sat in one of the rocking chairs, telling a story to a couple of children, sitting on the ground around her feet. Y/n’s pupils were really big, locked onto the scene. Avalon B ‘n B it is then. If all goes well, they leave this place in the morn with a magic buzz, not entombed. Or it could just be a regular inn with a sacred namesake. It was always hard to tell with these things.
Douxie hid the boat in the nearby forest and they set off for the B ‘n B on foot. There was a chill in the air. Y/n put her hood up to shield from the wind to their backs. She threaded the fingers of the hand not attached to Nari through his. Douxie’s hands were too sweaty for her to keep doing this to him. Hopefully she wouldn’t stop. Archie jumped up on his shoulders, ready to hide if need be by shape shifting into something much smaller and less noticeable than a cat. Y/n googled the inn as they walked. They were listed as pet friendly, however their website revealed that this policy only extended to cats. Luckily for them, Archie was cat-passing. No need to become a rat that stayed in Douxie’s cap.
As they stepped inside the large wooden door, they were bathed in an orange light. There was a deep scarlet rug under their feet. The atrium they stepped into had a bench with too many colorful cushions stacked on it, an antique mirror that was probably silver-backed behind that, and a counter blocking the way for you to step into the rest of the house, with a few keys hanging behind it. The old man behind the counter stood as they entered, grinning.
“Welcome to Avalon! Name’s Robert. Why, what a beautiful family you have here.” He leaned over the counter to speak to the veggie lady. “And what’s your name, Little Miss?”
“I am Nari of the Eternal Forest.”
Y/n laughed, in an effort to be convincing, “Oh, she’s going through a wee fairy phase, it’s our fault, we took her to a renn faire last month.”
“Oh, how adorable. Could I get a name for your reservation Ma’am?”
“Casperan.”
“Perfect. And we have both a room with a single queen, and a room with a queen and a twin. We also have a room with two twins available, but I’m sure that wouldn’t serve you folks well.”
“We’ll take the single, our little one still isn’t very brave when it comes to sleeping in new places.” It was cheaper.
“Alrighty, here you go. We ask you to pay the bill up front if that’s okay with ya’ll,” Douxie came forward to hand the man his card, which he promptly accepted with a flourish, “And don’t worry about your feline, he should be fine as long as he can get along with our resident kitty cat, Sammy.”
“No worries, it should all be fine, Archie here is very friendly,” Y/n gave Robert her biggest smile. She shot Archie a look when the man turned away. He better get along with Sammy if he knew what was good for him. Speak of the devil, a little gray cat one could only assume was Sammy came trotting over and sniffed the feet of these new people in his domain. Douxie put a none too happy Archie down to greet the new friend and told him to play nice. Sammy sniffed Archie, hesitated for a moment, but then rubbed his cheek on Arch’s shoulder. Douxie let out the breath he was holding. Archie kept his tail from flicking and chirruped to the gray cat.
After passing by an archway that led into the dining area, where several old ladies were playing bridge, Robert led them up the stairs and through an unevenly rugged hallway to their room, near the end. “Now take your time settling in, but do join us downstairs soon, you’ll miss all the fun.”
After promising to show back up in a jiffy, they took in the room after he left. There bed was covered in four different green quilts, or that were as many as were visible. The windows were covered in thick green drapes. They came in and laid down their packs. The wallpaper was covered in green vines. There was some fancy loveseat, also green. Nari loved the amount of green. There was an oil painted portrait of a cat on the wall, and below it, a large vintage radio that looked like it might as well had been new. Y/n turned it on. ‘Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered’ was playing. Ooh, she loved this song.
She grabbed Douxie’s hands and pulled him to the center of the room. “C’mon, dance with me Dewdrop.” With a hand extended for him to take, her eyes sparkled as she looked up at him. Well, there was no way Douxie was saying no to that face. Y/n pulled him into her embrace the second he tentatively put his hand in hers. It was a sweet, slow love song, so they began to dance sweet, slow, and loving. Nari had made herself comfortable on the loveseat with Archie, who was pretending to be busy cleaning himself to give them one less pair of eyes watching them. Nari grabbed a book off the doily covered coffee table titled ‘Poisonous Herbs and How To Use Them’ that had caught her eye.
As they swayed, Douxie leant down to Y/n’s ear, “Why are we sharing a bed once again, Love?”
“You saw those people downstairs, if they knew we weren’t married they wouldn’t have given us accommodation, you want to go look for a new inn at ten o’ clock?” Douxie nodded, “and I figured we shared a bed last night and that was fine so why not tonight too? Oh stars, did I make you uncomfortable last night?” Douxie could hear the panic surging in her voice.
“No, no not at all, Love. Well, a perhaps wee bit,” Y/n pulled slightly away from him, which he quickly countered, “But in a good way. I- liked it.”
Y/n eyes got big as she scanned his nervous face. A weak smile spread across her flushed face. “I liked it too- oh,” Doux spun her around to the music. She giggled, but soon locked onto his eyes. There were so many things in them that she couldn’t name. Despite the chaos behind them, looking into them made her feel safe, his hazel eyes always did. A brilliant hazel, a little brown, a little gold, haloed in green. Warm colors, the palette of her fondest dreams. Ella Fitzgerald’s sweet voice still sung, Y/n couldn’t tell if the melody was lasting forever or if time had just slowed in each other’s embraces. His gentle touch on the small of her back, the warmth beneath his palm, was going to linger long after they parted.
She leaned closer, resting her head on his shoulder. Y/n could smell a mixture of cheap soap from the motel, the sweat of his skin, and the pine needles from their hike. His hair tickled her face. She could hear him take every breath. It was enamoring. Bewitched indeed, Ella. Y/n was so lost swaying in Douxie’s embrace that she almost didn’t catch what was being sung.
Y/n lifted her head back up. “Wow, I don’t remember the lyrics to this song being so dirty.”
Douxie laughed. “That’s because most versions are not. They cut it off before it gets too far, but this is the full version.”
“And people were listening to this in the fifties?” Y/n asked incredulously.
“Oh, Love, you’d be surprised.”
It took some convincing to get Nari to put down the book so they could go downstairs. She was engrossed in a page about bloodroot, and wasn’t happy about having to stop. Douxie wasn’t sure about how he felt about Nari getting into said literature, and was annoyed that Y/n was slightly encouraging it. Y/n knew all about this kind of stuff, sure, but he trusted Y/n not to suddenly turn on him when the whim found her. Bleeding balroths. Before now, Douxie hadn’t realized that he didn’t quite trust Nari. That was probably bad. Sure, Merlin trusted her, and that should be enough for his apprentice Hisirdoux. But Doux had trusted a lot of people over the years, even some endorsed by Merlin, before his slumber. It was a dangerous game, that trust. The scar on his hand served a permanent reminder, the thread tied onto his pinky, a promise to never forget.
Douxie felt bold, and laced his fingers through Y/n’s this time as they headed down the stairs. Archie took his perch on Douxie’s shoulders, it would give him an excuse not to have to interact with the inn cat. They were met cordially at the bottom of the stairs by the innkeeper’s wife, Sherry. She had been on her way from the kitchen to the dining with a platter of cookies. She beckoned the group to follow her, she’d lead them to where the action was at. Said action was laughing people sitting at the dining room table playing cards, with drinks ranging from a posh teacup to an Oktoberfest beer mug littering the table, children stealing sweets from the platters on the buffet cabinet in the midst of their game of hide and seek, and a new mother rocking her infant by the fire, a quilt draped over her lap.
“Hey folks, the Casperans have joined us finally.” They received a cheery greeting by all in the room.
Y/n didn’t like the idea of Nari joining the children in their hiding game, since Nari was not someone who should be left out of sight, so she suggested the veggie lady go ask the woman in the corner of the table who was knitting if she’d show Nari how. That kept the forest child busy all night. Easily explained to the adults by her being a strange little one, a shy child. Besides Robert there was only one other man in the gathering, so they seemed pleased by Douxie’s arrival. They tried to get him out of his shell and bond over beer, fishing stories, and how much they loved their wives. Douxie was trying his best to fit in with the merry men. As Y/n sat, the blue haired lady next to her offered her hand to shake and asked her name. “Y/n Casperan, pleased to meet you too, Ma’am.” Douxie bit the inside of his cheek, it was all he could do to keep his soul from leaving his body. Archie teased Doux with his eyebrows, which made it worse.
Much to Archie’s dismay, Doux got his revenge by putting him down on the ground and telling him to go play nice. Besides, it would be weird if Doux just left him there on his shoulder all night. Disgruntled, Archie took a perch up on the back of one of the old plush couches nearby. He kept an eye on Nari, since Douxie and Y/n were distracted. He had hoped he could stay anti-social from up there, but no, Sammy saw him from wherever the old cat was in the house and joined him. The gray cat snuggled next to Archie, loafing. It’s not that Arch didn’t like cuddles, he just didn’t want them from this random Russian blue from Ohio. Sammy began to purr; Archie could feel it against his own chest. Sighing, he accepted his fate, but didn’t hold back from flicking his tail in contempt.
The gathering dealt Douxie and Y/n in for the next round. Apparently, Y/n was a card shark, not something Doux was expecting. Y/n’s secret is that she’d oftentimes sneak off from her aunt’s fancy parties to go gamble with the snooty rich men who never thought a little girl in a poufy pink dress could clean ‘em out. They were often too embarrassed to tell the tale so she never got caught. He watched her lovingly as she bluffed and bantered with the other women. Y/n glanced over to him from across the table, catching his gaze. Her own gaze softened at the sight of his adoring expression towards her. She looked back down at her cards and promptly ended the hand. The dealer started passing around cards again, but Y/n refused hers.
“Oh, I sure would love to play another round, but I need to go have a conversation with my husband outside for a moment.” She shot a glance to Douxie and he understood. He stood up from the table and pulled her chair out for her as he did.
“Of course, Love.”
Douxie followed Y/n out to the porch. The soft orange light streaming from the window illuminated her back as she grabbed his hand to lead him towards a more private spot. Now no longer within the sight of the party, she leaned back against the porch rail, facing Doux. The expression he bore was a slightly questioning one, slightly eager. Y/n gulped, here goes nothing.
“So!”
Douxie cocked a brow, “So?”
“I know. And You know. And you didn’t know that I knew but I know, and I don’t know if you know but I’ve made it pretty clear so I’m hoping that you do know.”
Douxie’s eyes flittered back and forth as he tried to make sense of that babble. “Er- Love, could you say that in proper English for me? I think I know what you’re saying, but I- I need you to say it,” He looked away, pushing his hair back with his hands.
“I- Love You,” She lost her courage for a moment, taking a deep breath and not daring to look into his eyes, “This is so irresponsible, I know. But I, Y/n L/n, love you, Hisirdoux Casperan. And- and I have for quite some time now.” She waited a beat with no response. She still refused to look up from the floor as she asked, pleading, “Do you, return my feelings, or- or-“
“Yes.” He cut her off. She hadn’t noticed him getting so close to her. “I, Hisirdoux Casperan, love you, Y/n L/n.” Her heart skipped a beat as he chuckled, “I have for quite some time now.”
Y/n let out the breath she was holding in a dreamy sigh, “Okay.”
“Okay.” Doux brought his hand up to move a stray strand of hair away from her face, and he let it linger against her skin. Y/n placed her hand over his, and drew him closer. Her eyelids slowly closed as she reached her hands up to his hair, pulling him in for a sweet kiss. Douxie couldn’t believe this was finally happening. His eyelids snapped shut and he deepened it with fervor in an effort to show her just how much he wanted this, in case she had any hesitation left. He surely was going to wake up any moment now, alone on the smelly old couch of the bookstore with his songbook on his face. She pulled away from him way sooner than he was happy about. With their foreheads still together, he took in her flushed face. Looking up into his eyes, her voice rasped, “I- I’d- I’d like to apologize.” Douxie’s brows furrowed. His head was a little fuzzy, but he’d not know where she was going with this even if he hadn’t just kissed the love of his life. “I- I’ve been so weary, and for nothing. And-and I’ve probably wasted all this time we could have been happy an-”
He cut her off with another kiss. This time he’d make sure it lasted a good, long time. Although a bit sloppy at first, they eventually found their rhythm together. Their lips slid across each other in sync. Y/n tightened her arms around his neck as she pulled him even closer, clinging for dear life. As they eventually surfaced for breath, the hot ragged breathing visibly mingled in the chilly autumn air. He pressed his forehead back into hers, nuzzling, “I believe it was worth the wait, Darling.”
They could have spent all the time in the world in that moment, if not for the sudden crash coming from the dining area. “Oh fuzzbuckets, Nari.” Doux mumbled under his breath as he grabbed Y/n’s hand to go check out the startling noise. Once back in view of the window, they could see it was a false alarm, as Sherry had dropped a metal platter and was cleaning it up. Nari was still attentively watching the knitting woman, and Archie seemed to be getting cozy with the inn cat. Ooh Archie, you Casanova. Douxie breathed a sigh of relief. Y/n tugged at his hand,
“C’mon Dewdrop, let’s rejoin the merry making.” Douxie obliged.
And the merry making lasted until just before midnight. Surprising, considering the company they were in. They didn’t even stay until the others retired for the night, Douxie wanted to get an early start on the day and also really didn’t want to have to hear another one of Bill’s fishing stories and act like he knew anything about fishing. He complained as soon as the door closed behind them. Archie argued that he had had it worse, which Doux scoffed at. They bickered back and forth, making Y/n smile. She never knew family arguments could actually make her heart fonder. Strange. So this is what genuine love brings.
After brushing their teeth, such a mundane thing that Douxie loved doing with Y/n, they settled in to bed for the night. The autumn chill might have come, but it still way too warm for the fifteen blankets the bed had been covered in. They removed the extra and set them neatly on a pile in the loveseat. Or Y/n at least made sure the extra quilts were neatly folded, Douxie had just thrown them off and let them bunch up. Nari got under the covers, like she’d seen humans often do before, but decided it was not a sensation for her. It felt strangling, to have something weighing down at her. She joined Archie where he lay at the foot of the bed and curled up. Archie was not in the mood for more cuddles, and Nari appeared to sense that, and stayed a little ways from the dragon-cat while still trying her best to be close to him.
Y/n nestled in, with the blanket pulled up on her ear, looking cozy as ever. Douxie’s heart skipped a beat. This was still so surreal. This entire day had been surreal. There was no way this wasn’t all one big dream. Maybe he did get eaten at the Missouri motel. Perhaps something was draining his life force but giving him a pleasant dream to pacify his dwindling mind. Y/n noticed him, still standing there at the side of the bed in a trance, and reached for his hand to drag him in. He fell flush against the mattress, and as he picked himself back up, she could see his cheeks were flushed as well. Y/n giggled at the sight of him.
“Get in, just mind Arch and Nari.”
Douxie carefully got under the covers without disturbing the two at the foot of the bed, laying on his side to face Y/n. For a beat they stilled, looking into each other’s eyes and watching each other breathe, miles apart despite being so close, until Y/n stretched an arm out to place it on his shoulder, an invitation. Doux got the memo and closed the gap of sheets between them, and Y/n snuggled into his chest. He tentatively wrapped his arms around her. This was sleep time and he was supposed to be settling down and relaxing but now his heart was beating fast as if he were running. Surely Y/n could feel it, hear it even, with her ears against his heart itself. He hair smelled lovely, like dirt but right as it first starts raining. Gently smiling to himself, he tightened their embrace.
“You know, I wanted to do this last night too. So, so badly.”
“Then why didn’t you?”
“Bold words of someone who literally just apologized for wasting our time with her weariness.”
y/n pretended to scoff, but failed to contain her snickers, “Oh, sod off. I am asleep now, and I cannot hear you.”
Douxie woke up to a face full of dark fur. Not an unusual thing for him to wake up to, just not what he was expecting for this particular morning. At some point in the night Archie had climbed up and nestled into the space between his face and Y/n’s. Impertinent, but endearing. Douxie supposed he’d be waking up like this for many mornings to come. This magic moment would become normal, a fact of his life that he got to enjoy. Just him, Arch, and Y/n. His tiny little family. What a lovely thought. What a lovely future.
Breakfast was at seven. That was the best part of staying in a bed and breakfast, Douxie reckoned. The fragrance of the goetta frying was heavenly after not having eaten anything but beef jerky and nuts since yesterday afternoon. The innkeeper’s wife had also made biscuits that she was serving with apple butter and her signature chocolate gravy, which neither Douxie nor Y/n were brave enough to try. The apple butter was just fine, after all. Nari didn’t care for the goetta, or many meats at all, Douxie was starting to realize, instead opting to glop way too much apple butter on a biscuit that she made into a sandwich. The fruit sauce dripped out when she bit into it, which only made the other guests dote on her, telling her how she was just so cute.
Y/n was wearing that new outfit, that Ash Dispersal Pattern shirt. It looked good on her. He hoped he wasn’t being possessive here, but it really made him feel good to see her in it. They would wash their other clothes in New Jersey. Hopefully they’d make it to the garden state and the troll settlement by nightfall, but by the way things were going, Douxie could only do that, hope. They’d make their way through Pennsylvania and maybe tuck through Maryland and Delaware to avoid Philly. The new Trollmarket was under a bridge of a small town in the thick of New Jersey. They’d make it there, that was the plan.
They bid their goodbyes to the people at the bed and breakfast, and headed off to Cleveland around eight. It was an uneventful trip, unremarkable and not even worthy of being described. Although one aspect of it that Douxie enjoyed was that Y/n stayed away from the edge, choosing to hang on his arm instead of the railing. A win-win if he had ever known one. Archie made some sarcastic gagging noises at their pda, but Doux ignored him. He had been waiting way too damn long for this to not embrace his beloved on his own fucking flying ship. Arch could tease him all he wanted. This casual affection he was now allowed to show somehow was worth it. The fact that he could now just touch Y/n? And she would not only not flinch from his touch, but would even touch back? It was priceless to his heart, marrow to his old bones, chicken soup for his soul.
As they drew nearer, Douxie found out that the reason Y/n had directed them to the metropolitan area around Cleveland, pretty high up into Ohio, was that she had wanted to make a visit to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Douxie knew he shouldn’t have expected anything less. He sure knew how to pick ‘em. He could get on board with this, a little trip down memory lane might be nice. There was a reason he’d never been. A lot of his old friends who’ve earned their places in this building had passed on. Yet, it might be nice to see their faces once again.
They once again hid the boat in a wooded area and took a bus into town. It wasn’t a problem finding a close stop, since their destination was a popular tourist destination. They wandered the halls, Douxie told Y/n and Nari about some of the people from bands that he had known. Y/n listened intently. Nari really liked all the pictures and memorabilia. She understood that this was some sort of memorial, and she was making sure that she was being respectful as Hisirdoux told her about it all. She didn’t quite understand why there were tributes to some still living humans, but did not question the humans’ rituals. Perhaps they were going to die soon. All mortals will.
There was a little station with a sundry of instruments, there for people to try out. Everything was most likely out of tune, being floor instruments touched by thousands of hands. That didn’t stop Y/n from grabbing an acoustic guitar to show Nari, plucking at it’s strings effortlessly. It was a silly little ditty, meant to entertain the veggie lady, but still impressive. Wait.
“Since when have you been able to play?”
“Ah, I dunno, Dewdrop. High school, I guess? I can’t really remember when, but my friend Roxy showed me a few chords and then I was obsessed for months.”
“What, I- I gave you lessons just last month. You were terrible.”
“Hisirdoux Casperan we both know that was just an excuse for you to hold me and touch my hands as you positioned my fingers.”
Douxie’s face was red. She was right, of course, but he hadn’t thought he had been so obvious about it. He watched her fingers drift across the neck as she started playing a softer tune. It was a song he recognized. Y/n seemed to get lost in what she was doing, mumbling the words here and there. At one point she started actually singing. Softly, under her breath, but it was audible nonetheless. Either she had forgotten he was there or she was finally getting comfortable enough around him to let him hear the beautiful voice. He hoped it was the latter. Nevertheless, whichever it was, it was like a siren song to Douxie’s ears.
“Why don’t you ever sing?”
Y/n stopped suddenly. She looked up from the stings, her eyes wide. “What?”
“You’re always humming as you do things, but you only ever actually sing when you think no one’s around. Why’s that, Love?”
While he wouldn’t recommend she try out for a singing competition reality show any time soon, her voice was hypnotic to him. Soothed his soul. Not that silky as was traditionally praised, but somehow felt like home, like a less smooth polished fabric, like a well-loved linen. The cadence of her voice was the best sound he had ever heard even. He had only been lucky enough to hear her fully sing a few blessed times, yet he knew that he could listen to her sing forever. Addicting.
“I – well it’s quite embarrassing isn’t it? To sing in front of people. I’m no starlet.”
Okay, now Douxie was ready to punch the lights out of anyone who made her think she should hide the angel voice of hers. Embarrassing. Who the fuck had the nerve. “Hmm. I think that’s bullshit, Love.” Y/n looked taken aback, and morphed into an expression of confusion. Douxie decided this wasn’t a time to be subtle. He cupped her face in his hand, drawing her in to make eye contact. “Let me make this clear, My Darling. Everything I’ve ever heard come out of your mouth has been nothing but angelic. I would never want you to feel shame about expressing yourself, even if I didn’t think your voice was my favourite sound on the planet.”
Tears welled in Y/n’s eyes. She hadn’t expected him to say anything like that. She was so cautious to keep him from hearing her before, but he liked her singing? It was hard for her to fathom. The first time he had caught her crooning to herself while unboxing a new shipment of bestsellers in the bookstore had been mortifying. She had never wanted to relive that, but maybe she wouldn’t have to. She loved singing. Her father had liked to call her his little songbird. She had hidden away that part of herself like a chest of out of fashion clothes in a dusty attic. If someone like Douxie, her beloved, thought so kindly of her though, maybe it wouldn’t be so bad to open up the chest and try on a few dresses.
“I- You’re serious? You really think that?”
Douxie held her gaze. “Absolutely.” He tipped her face up towards his to punctuate his point with a kiss.
They continued to wander through the rooms and exhibits of the museum. Douxie stopped to look at a portrait of someone he particularly missed, an old friend he had many good times with. He’d miss the geezer. He really was a great musician. He had taught Douxie a lot of tricks, and Doux wouldn’t be able to play the electric guitar half as well without his friend. He had a different kind of magic.
He was caught in his reverie when Y/n popped in from another room, urging him to come see something. Her excitement was something Doux would never stop enjoying, so he let her grab his hand so he would follow her. Douxie didn’t know what he was expecting her to show him, definitely not this. He was staring face to face with his own poster, circa 1960. They were experimenting with a new style, the rock of the day that was becoming increasingly popular. He remembered it fondly. It was a new age. The drummer in the photo, he was mortal, and while he could have been alive today, sadly he was taken, just ten years after joining the band. Seeing his smiling face filled Doux with peace. So many memories, he was glad he got to make them. And there would be more memories to come, he’d make sure of it. No order of ancient terrors breathing down his neck was gonna stop him from doing what he loved.
He was so lost in thought they he almost missed what this meant. He was in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. How did he not know he was in the fucking hall of fame. They didn’t even tell him. Well, he supposed this version of him no longer legally existed, so that made sense. Still. It was fantastic news. He was pretty proud. Some sweet validation that he always craved. Y/n had brought him here, she’d been here before, she knew. She was showing him off, to no one in particular, but the thought made him grin. Ash Dispersal Pattern in the hall of fame. Heh. He’d have to tell the others; in fact he would announce this to the group chat as soon as he had some free time. Zoe would get a kick out of him not knowing. Y/n tugged on his arm.
“Aren’t you cool, Mr. Rockstar.”

Note
Hi I was hoping to adopt a bitty if not that’s okay. I am a new owner. a little bit about me,
I’m a 19 year old artist, I have two moods stay inside all day and paint or take naps with some tv sprinkled in. And the other is outside just laying in the grass drawing or going for a hike. I do suffer from depression but i manage it as best I can. I tend to stay away from large crowds as they give me anxious. I have a large collection of soft blankets and pillows. My friends would call me the crack head mim friend meaning I will make sure to take care of everyone, but will forget to eat myself. Random facts that might not be needed but I’m 5’5 and can lift 140lbs . I work full time and live alone thank you again.
After looking at your info I would say out of the shop bitty these would be good options for you:
Gryph
He is a good bitty. A classic Sans with a twist. As an avian type he has wings on his back,a feathered tail and bird like feet. His bird half is more related to raptors like hawks and falcons so be mindful of those claws! His colors are darker blues and a few browns giving him quite a fun range of colors on this big ol wings of his
Being a classic Sans type he is more than happy to laze about and just enjoy your company but with his wings he has enough energy to keep up on hikes and other outdoor activities. He is also a major dad type and if you trip his fatherly instincts he will totally go all paternal on you.
Dusty
If you do not have an issue with snakes. Dusty can be a good companion. He is a little shit but deep down a good boy who just wants to snuggle. As a bitty of a bad Sans he is a bit more abrasive than other bitty and much quicker to become aggressive but he is very careful about when and who to bite knowing it can hurt people. Dusty bitty can get quite protective over what is theirs including their people so you will always have someone ready to defend you and make sure you know you deserve “better than that”
Lamia(naga) bitty are well snakes. He lounges and enjoys his down time sunning is very nice for him. He cannot go out when it is too cold but summers and early fall/late spring are absolutely fantastic for him He will coil up on or next to you for hours while you do your stuff and is content to nap without much of a bother.
Also the boy loves to collect stuff, is curious and, is very much into “testing” things. Little scientist that one.
Drake
This boy is a classic Papyrus with a twist. He is the brother to Gryph and is also his opposite. There was an attempt to make an “angel and demon” set and while it did not work we still have our wonderful dragon/demon papryri.
As a Papyrus you have the best cheerleader in your corner. He has the energy to keep up with anything you do and the smarts to keep himself busy when you need down time. He is going to help you with the chores even if he cant get very far the house will be clean he is determined! You have a bitty who is willing to help with anything you need. Seeing you thrive is his passion. As a side note he makes a decent service bitty because of these traits

ALRIGHT-
SO
I've had this list of headcannons just sitting in my notes app of my phone and I wanna put it somewhere so 👀
(These are heavily inspired by what I could gather from the skele boys in @bonelyheartsclub! I just threw in a few of my own.)
-----------*
Sans
- Does a LOT of stargazing and has quite a few space-themed knicknacks and clothes in his room. He's got a telescope too!
- Dad jokes. Any time is prime dad joke time. He's never let an opportunity slip past him.
- He's an absolute prank master. You're considered lucky if you happen to avoid the ones he's planted around the house like bombs waiting to go off.
- He's cryptic as fuck. Always giving half-true answers to every question. Occasionally he may slip up and give you a brutally honest response, but that's only with the people he trusts most, and he finds being open to be very difficult.
- He's constantly referencing memes and vine quotes from days of yore. He practically has a database of every meme ever in his head, and he doesnt let it go to waste.
- Cuddling with him is basically a one way ticket to nap-town, and you constantly find yourself waking up to him smooshed against you on the couch after dozing off. For being a skeleton, he is a surprisingly comfortable snuggler.
-----------*
Papyrus
-So much baking and cooking. It's his favorite past time, and the kitchen never smells the same when he's done making whatever he's making in there (it's 12 times out of 10 pasta) And while his cooking may be sub-par, you never say no when he asks you to try his latest dish.
- He's always up to go shopping with you. It never matters where. Malls are his favorite, especially the big grand ones with fountains and huge windows. He makes it a point to bring spare cash because you KNOW he's going to ride the mini marry-go-round even if he can barely fit in the seats.
- You two love to binge watch cooking channels. Always discussing which foods would be the most fun to make, writing down recipies, and having a hell of a time trying to pause the show at the right points to get all the information down.
- Papyrus is notorious for game nights. He's always pulling out boards and cards that you've never heard of before and never starts a game until he's absolutely certain you know the rules. Winning of course, is always his prime goal when it comes to games, but if he senses you're on a particularly rough losing streak, he MAY slip up. Occasionally. Just enough so you can win a game or two. Or five.
-----------*
Blue
- Hyper as all hell. You give him a reasonable dose of sugar or caffeine and he could power an entire city for a few hours without breaking a sweat.
- If he had been in high school, Blue would have been a theater kid. He's always humming a tune from a Broadway show or Disney movie, and he's got a pretty good collection of songs on his brother's Spotify playlist.
- This guy will blast Steven Universe music at full volume he has no shame.
- If you are ever driving somewhere with him, an aux cord is a MUST. Singing in the car is a very frequent thing with you two, and you'll only get out after the song is over.
- He likes cryptids! Mothman is his favorite and he firmly believes he exists somewhere.
- He's your workout buddy. If he manages to drag you to the gym with him, that is.
- Blue hates seeing you down in the dumps, and is always trying to cheer you up with his quirky puns and jokes to get you smiling again.
- He'd be the best motivational poster ever. Whenever he picks up that you're going through a rough spot and falling behind on self-care, he knows just what to say to put the spark back in you again.
-----------*
Stretch
- Radiates goblin energy.
- A goddamn meme lord.
- He's made two or three widely known viral videos and nobody knows it was him.
- You need someone to go to an anime convention with? Stretch is your guy. He's god awful at planning stuff out, but he'll make sure you both have a good time, no matter what happens.
- He's really big into nerd culture, and he DMs for a dungeons and dragons game every week.
- He'll occasionally smoke, but he doesnt have lungs, so he does it more for shits and giggles than anything else.
- As lazy as he seems, he is very reliable. If he knows it's something important to you, he'll get it done. Chores though, he's a lot more iffy with.
- He really likes bees.
-----------*
Red
- Talks big talk, but he's actually a huge softie.
- He's basically a big pillow with sharp teeth that can curse.
- A nervous wreck.
- His brother shops at Hot Topic. He shops at Spencer's. Very convenient.
- He's a pretty big flirt and throws out little compliments and things to butter you up from time to time.
- If you take Red into a Dave and Busters he will win the most expensive prize at the booth in about 2 hours. (He knows how to cheat at every single game)
- He's a competitive gamer, and has a pretty impressive following on Twitch.
- He can go from loud and brash to quiet and insecure in a matter of moments, depending on the situation.
- He loves to bake, although it's something he will never be caught dead doing.
- Comfort is not his strong suit, but he will defend you without a second thought.
- He can be a little clingy and will text you now and again to ask what you're up to, just to ease his mind.
-----------*
Boss
- Professionalism is his game.
- The walking embodiment of Hot Topic.
- He loves to listen to rock and screamo music. He's also got a thing for Disney villain songs.
- You need some punk biker or vampiric goth fashion advice? Boss got ya.
- Skellator Man.
- Out of all the skeletons, Boss has the biggest ego.
- He hates admitting he's wrong. He would rather DIE than admit he's fucked up something.
- "I am not nice-"
- He could kill a man with his high heels.
- If it's got spikes he'll probably wear it.
- Tsundere. Tsundere. Tsundere. Tsundere. Tsu
- Did I mention he's a cold blooded tsundere.
-----------*
Nox
- Small angery man.
- He listens to a lot of classic and instrumental music. He finds it very sophisticated.
- Wakes up obscenely early in the morning. Always followed by a cup of the most bitter coffee on the planet.
- Comes up with the best insults. He could roast someone so hard that they'd dissolve into a pile of soot. He could glare at you and you'd cease to exist. He's that good.
- WILL step on you without remorse.
- Threatens to kill someone on a daily basis.
- Very rarely has spare time for himself. He's always keeping busy doing something.
- Loves dark, dry humor. A child falling off a swing will have him laughing for a good five minutes.
- Has a stone cold poker face.
- He might have a softer side to him. You may never know because of the walls he's built up around him.
-----------*
Rus
- He absolutely adores animals. He volunteers at the local animal shelter and plans on adopting every single dog there.
- Rus has a massive sweet tooth. Donuts are his favorite, and you can easily bribe him with anything sugar coated.
- A road trip master. You put him in a camper and he knows exactly where he's going and what he's doing.
- "Going off grid, fuck yeah- I pull out my credit cards and shred 'em."
- Hiking, camping and geocaching are some of his favorite things to do. He loves to explore the wilderness and it's like he has a built-in compass for finding his way.
- His ideal date is going to a Wal-Mart and causing absolute chaos by riding bikes around and tossing all of the inflatable balls from their displays.
- Cryptidcore energy.
- Rus loves watching Buzzfeed Unsolved and ghost huntings. He's a big fan of Supernatural and Stranger Things, too.
- Stutters and slurs his words a lot. He's got some speech impediments from the gold canines in his mouth.
- A bit lacking when it comes to social skills, but he can be extremely caring and sweet.
-----------*
Ash
- Very soft-spoken and awkward. He doesn't get much social interaction and is still figuring some things out.
- He's very self-aware of the wound in his head. Whenever he has to leave the house he wears some sort of hat to cover it up.
- Practically lives in his garden. He understands plants more than he does human beings, and he spends time daily tending to whatever he's growing.
- Him and his brother are both vegetarians, and the smell or sight of meat makes them both feel sick to themselves.
- Has trouble sleeping due to his reoccurring nightmares. He will often sit in his garden late at night to help calm himself.
- Radiates soft energy. He would absolutely give the best hugs out of all the skeletons.
- Very touch-starved. Physical affection is something he rarely recieves, and he probably lingers with touches a lot longer than he should.
- Unintentionally makes God-teir jokes without realizing it.
----------*
Poplar
- Very well-educated in a lot of things. He really likes stocking up on useless factoids and making up his own just to mess with people.
- He answers Jeopardy questions with concerning accuracy.
- He enjoys going out to eat, and he's always up to try fancy foods.
- He likes photography and reading. He is well into the Harry Potter series.
- Poplar is prepared for anything at any time. A lot of stuff doesnt phase him at all, and it's difficult to catch him off-guard.
- He's willing to try anything new, once.
- Always willing to help out with schoolwork if he thinks you're seriously struggling with it.
- He's always carrying around small planners and notebooks to write in so he can keep track of things.

Hi! Wondering if I can take you up on the offer in that dysautonomia post.
I’ve been feeling randomly more tired than it feels like I should, but I think it’s not general deconditioning? Showers can wipe me out for a few hours and a shower chair is helpful - but I can walk for miles and afaict even a 5 mile hike drained my mental energy before obvious physical exhaustion (noticeably worse executive function and sensory/emotional tolerance but only normal muscle fatigue). Medically, been trying to sort out high hgb/hct that isn’t going down that much with T dose, and also night sweats at least a few times a week, and also I can be lying down to nap with my heart rate over 100 and it only comes down slowly. Can’t freaking tell what’s ptsd triggers, what’s other stress/anxiety, what’s maybe autistic burnout/sensory management taking much more energy than I expect, what’s needing to eat more consistently, what might be sleep issues, what’s effects of hormone levels, or what might be something else. I’m waiting for a sleep study to try to rule out sleep issues. I would really appreciate any pointers if any of this sounds like it might point a particular direction or if other tests might be useful.
Sadly that could be a lot of things, and I definitely think a sleep study is a good way to start. Making sure to manage your food and water intake, fixing your sleep schedule, taking care to be kind to yourself during episodes, those are a good place to start. No, I'm not saying that that will completely fix your problems, but any doctor that knows about POTS that does end up diagnosing you [if you have it] will tell you to do these things anyway. This is why I have been slowly attempting to unfuck my life.
If all of these things don't seem to be helping and the sleep study reveals nothing, the next thing I'd do is buy a cheap blood pressure monitor and see if you can have an actual record of your heart rate and blood pressure before, during, and after these episodes if possible. Something that records the output, or take a photo of the readings so you can show them to your doctor. Personally being a child of diabetics I also recommend buying a cheap glucose test kit to see if your sugar levels are doing anything funky during these times as well. Try to keep a journal of time of day, what you were doing just prior, and the readings you're acquiring to see if someone can point out a pattern.
A really easy way to see if there's a cause for pushing for specific testing is to go from seated to standing at your usual pace. If you are an otherwise healthy person and your heart rate jumps more than 30 bpm there is a pretty good indication that something interesting is happening inside of you that shouldn't be. If you also notice a big spike or drop in your blood pressure when initially standing or after standing still for a long period, that's another clue.
If you unfuck these areas of your life AND are getting concerning readings with little to no improvement on symptoms, it's time to look deeper. Most cardiologists will do a 24hr holtor, an EKG, a tilt table test, and/or a stress test, though the tilt table test is the one that really tends to seal the deal. However with some of your symptoms, I would honestly not be surprised to hear your doctors wanting the sleep study and probably an EEG to rule out things like sleep disorders or epilepsy as there can be some overlap.
It does take the average patient 8 years for a diagnosis- it took me less the first time around because of my family history, but the second time around took more like a year and a half due to comorbidities and I literally almost died. A friend of mine got really jerked around by her doctors for close to 6 months before someone was willing to run a tilt table test and almost instantly diagnosed her the second she fainted during the test. Another friend was told she was being a ridiculous germaphobe while her doctor ordered the test despite having a known dx of something commonly associated with POTS and again she was still diagnosed almost instantly during her tilt table. A third friend keeps getting 'hmm maybe' 'no' 'totally healthyl 'yes?' 'okay well that's weird' when he asks for a tilt table and they refused to give it to him despite picking up arrhythmias during his holtor and EKG- it's been a year and he's still arguing with the doctors to get a tilt table. Unfortunately many doctors simply aren't trained in autonomic disorders or in autoimmune disorders, and POTS is both. It can be very difficult to find someone willing to listen to you.
If you do all of these things and land on 🤷‍♂️, a lot of times it's things like fibro or MS, and the knowledge gained from these tests will help find a diagnosis of whatever-it-is affecting you.

Thinking some thoughts:
Yesterday we got bad news and then took one of those personality-altering sunny afternoon naps, where you wake up sweaty and dream-damaged and like a different person. I don't know if I love or hate that feeling. Mostly love, so long as it's still daylight when you wake up. And I definitely love the feeling of sleeping that hard—the vividness of dreaming in a bright room. I know it’s just perception, but it’s over 24 hours later and I swear I still feel different. Part human part slug.
Today we got free drinks for an unknown reason but I think it was for being lesbians. 💕 (And we got some outdoor time with dear friends and it was WONDERFUL.)
I signed my wife and me up for an honor system, complete-it-wherever-you-want-on-a-particular-weekend 5K next month to benefit a super awesome organization and we’re going to walk it. (It’s not even in my city—it’s virtual and centered in a different city in my state.) It’s very liberating to admit: I just don’t like running. I don’t like the way I feel when I run. It makes me feel exhausted and gross in a way that other physical activity doesn’t. I like exercise, I like playing a rec league sport (someday this pandemic will be over and I can do this again, right?), I like moving around and doing stuff, I like hiking, I like long walks...I hate running. In the past this might have put me off signing up for a race because I would either feel like I was “supposed” to train (even for a pretty short distance like a 5K) and wouldn’t because I hate running and would then feel unprepared. But whatever! This is going to be easy and fun and like any other walk except it’s for a particular cause, so instead of spending the next month in nervous anticipation I can just casually look forward to it. (And I do recognize that being able to walk for 3.1 miles is not something everyone can do, and that my description of something being easy is about my ability rather than a universal quality.)
I can nearly 100% attribute my chill-ness about planning to walk a race to the fact that I’m doing yoga every day this year. It’s made me feel so much more aware of what I want my body to be (strong, flexible, soul housing, happy) and what I don’t need it to be. In the past, a race would be “for other people” or “for me but only under certain conditions” and I would’ve ended up feeling inadequate. But doing daily yoga (and specifically, frankly, Yoga with Adriene videos) has helped me realize there are always available modifications and it should feel okay to take make those modifications. There are always options to make it work. Or not. And that is OK. :)
This is going to be a busy week and there’s nothing I’m dreading about it, but I desperately wish I could have one more day off tomorrow just to get more sleep. And to write.
All the tumblr prompts from this most recent round are boppin’ around in my brain. I have ideas for pretty much all the ones I haven’t completed yet, and I’ve got some other stuff I’m working on too, fic-wise, and I’ve got some original stuff that I’m having fun with as well. This year has contained almost no poetry whatsoever because I’m so in love with fiction right now. I’ve really got to try to get good sleep this week so I can get up early and write before work because there’s a massive amount of word-idea-energy slush happening in my brain and I just need the right physical conditions to sit down and write. Enough time to finish a sentence, you know?

An uneasy feeling took hold of you when the bare lightbulb above your head started flickering. It was simply a reminder that big storms had an influence on the town’s electricity, but you couldn’t help seeing it as a bad omen of sorts. As if every flicker went paired with a whispered warning.
Brace yourself. Brace yourself.
And so you did.
Dean had his arms wrapped around you, and at the feeling of your body tightening, he dipped his head to bring his lips to your ear. “You’re okay,” he whispered.
He was trying to soothe you but all you could do was whimper in response. “I hate this.”
Dean didn’t miss a beat. “I know, sweetheart.” One of his hands was in your hair, gently stroking. The other cupped your cheek and lifted your head so your eyes met. “I’m sure it’s not gonna be much longer.”
You knew he was right. Through the anxiety fogging your brain, you could grasp at some common sense. It told you to listen for the wind, or any other sounds coming from outside. The worst was over, you could tell.
It should have calmed you more, but you were still on edge. Ever since the storm a year before, the biggest one in a decade, you were a wreck whenever the weather reports said another was on its way.
Tornados weren’t uncommon where you lived. You were actually more used to them than Dean had been when you moved to this town. Unlike you, he hadn’t grown up in the area and dealt with extreme weather conditions like these for as long as he could remember.
However, your advantage had vanished the moment you got hurt during another one of those storms. It was right after you and Dean moved into the neighborhood. Most houses had still been under construction and it had been a loose wooden beam from one of those constructions that gave you the scare of your life.
You had been cleaning up in the kitchen, when a strong gust of wind forced the beam through the window you were standing only a few feet away from. The impact had shattered both the glass and your left shoulder.
Throughout your recovery, you had seen Dean go from feeling horrified, to being haunted by a heavy dose of guilt you failed to talk him out of, and, eventually, to being overtaken by a sense of determination that had led him to build a storm cellar in your backyard.
One in which you were currently hiding out once again.
“Las Vegas,” Dean spoke quietly into the dimly lit room. “Weekend trip, two years ago.”
Your mind needed a few seconds to catch up, but then you realized what he was doing. It was a game he had invented the first time you were hiding out in the storm cellar. A way to distract you from the fear wrapping tightly around your throat. He would mention a happy memory you two shared, and then you would take turns sharing a specific moment you loved most about it.
This time, you couldn’t respond. You were already finding it hard to focus again, and your body had started to shiver in Dean’s arms despite him already having taken off his jacket and tightly wrapped you in it earlier.
Dean went first instead, he wasn’t giving up. “You wanted to go on that hike,” he said, voice low and soothing. “I remember thinking, ‘A hike, really? There’s so many things to do in this city and she wants to go trekking in the desert?’”
You closed your eyes as you focused on his voice and the rhythm of his hand still stroking your hair.
“But then that sunset happened and the shades of orange light hit your face in a way that knocked the damn ground out right from under me. Even winning the biggest jackpot in town that night wouldn’t have compared to the way I felt when I looked at you on top of that hill.”
Dean kissed your forehead and you nuzzled into his neck. His breath was hot on your cheek, sending the first good kind of shivers down your back since entering the cellar.
“The first night.” Your voice was merely a whisper. You were afraid it would break if you attempted to speak any louder. “You spilled your drink at the restaurant and after you had left for the bathroom to get cleaned up, I heard the people at the table next to us talk about how they thought you peed your pants.”
For a moment, nothing could be heard but the wind outside. Then, Dean’s chest started rumbling beneath yours. His hearty laugh startled you at first, but then you found yourself joining in with a careful chuckle of your own.
“That’s your favorite part of the whole trip?” he asked, but he didn’t sound at all offended. Knowing Dean, he was probably just happy his distraction tactic had proven to be a success once again.
“Well,” you mumbled, already sitting up a bit straighter and feeling less like simply trying to breathe was using up all your energy, “there was also that thing we did afterwards, in the hotel room…”
Dean’s goofy grin sent surges of electricity through your body that made your heartbeat flicker like the lightbulb above your heads. He reached out to pull your face closer to his but right as your lips were about to touch, he paused.
“Listen,” he whispered.
You did as told and immediately understood what he was trying to tell you. Silence. That was all you could hear as the two of you held your breath. The storm outside had to have settled down enough for the noise to have stopped.
“Should-” You licked your lips because they had suddenly gotten dry at the realization you might be heading out into the open. “Should we go back to the house?”
“Only if you’re ready,” Dean said softly, sitting back a bit to give you room to breathe.
You took a moment to think about it. Of course you wanted to stay in the bunker for as long as possible, because you wanted to feel safe as long as possible. But if the storm was over, if the two of you could go into the house again, you’d rather spend the rest of the day there.
Dean stirred when you stayed quiet. “How about I go first?” he suggested gently. He was already moving away from you when he saw the worried look in your eyes. “I’ll only be a minute,” he assured you, placing his hand on yours for just a moment. “Promise.”
You nodded and squeezed his hand before he pulled it away. Within the next few seconds, Dean had gone up the steps and you were left alone. In the dim lighting, you could see your own fingers trembling.
At first you thought it would be a good idea to start counting. After all, Dean had said he would only need a minute. Though you knew that shouldn’t necessarily be taken literally, you thought counting to sixty might help keep you from going stir crazy.
You had to start over a few times because unhelpful thoughts, fueled by worry, tried taking over your brain. You had barely gotten to fifty after the third try when the sound of the latch opening almost made you jump out of your skin.
Light poured into the room and Dean’s head appeared in the opening at the top of the steps. He was smiling at first but when he saw you, hunched over and trembling, his face fell.
You closed your eyes and sighed in relief at the sight of him unhurt. His heavy footsteps sounded on the stairs and then he was next to you again. Arms wrapping around your body, hands covering yours. You could feel him trying to pry your fingers open and you opened your eyes in surprise at the realization you were clenching your hands into fists.
You blinked a few times, looking at the crescent moon imprints in the palms of your hands, where your nails had dug in deep. Dean brushed his large fingers over them, and though his skin was rough, the feeling was soothing.
Dean didn’t say anything, just held you until you eased up again. And that’s when you realized he had left the ledge open. There was still light pouring in, as well as the sound of the wind blowing outside. You took a deep breath, inhaling the fresh air.
“It’s all good up there,” Dean finally spoke, his lips so close to your ear you could feel his breath tickle your skin. You weren’t sure that was the reason you got chills, or if it was the thought of going up. But you trusted Dean. If he said it was safe, you would follow him.
You didn’t let go of his hand as the two of you left the bunker. Dean closed the latch behind you while you took a moment to let your eyes adjust to the natural lighting. You took a look around the yard. The place was a bit of a mess. Some of the backyard furniture Dean had tried to secure before the storm, had gotten loose and made its way across the lawn. There was a bunch of trash that had blown over. And there, turned on its side, leaning against the back porch, was something else that didn’t belong in your yard.
“Is that…” you started, a frown on your face.
Dean turned around and followed your gaze. “Yup!” he said, a bit too excitedly for your taste. “Must’ve blown over from one of the neighbors’ backyards.”
You took in the giant trampoline and imagined it being forced up into the air and across multiple properties. The thought of such a dangerous thing caused you to shiver for the umpteenth time that day. Dean noticed and wrapped and arm around you, pulling you close against his warm body.
“Let’s get you inside,” he offered, already leading you over to the backdoor. “I’ll clean up out here. You look like you might enjoy a little nap.”
“That’s just your way of saying I look like crap, isn’t it?” you guessed while making your way through the hallway and up the stairs.
All you could hear was the sound of Dean’s laugh as he disappeared into the kitchen, but it was enough to answer your question.
Tumblr media
You woke up feeling relaxed. All stress and anxiety from earlier seemed to have been erased from your muscles and mind. Turning over onto your other side, you spotted the empty teacup on your nightstand.
Dean had come up before you had fallen asleep, to bring you some calming chamomile tea, before he headed into the yard to tidy up. He always knew exactly how to take care of you.
You smiled at the thought of how lucky you were to have a man like Dean in your life, but your face fell the moment you had made your way downstairs and into the backyard. Despite knowing the storm was over, you felt uneasy at the sight of the dark sky. Your hair was swept up by a gust of wind and you shivered.
An unfamiliar sound made you turn your head to the left. There was that trampoline again, the one you noticed earlier before heading into the house. And from the looks of it, the journey which had led it into your yard, hadn’t caused any damage.
It was standing on its steel legs now, looking steady, and creaking steadily every time Dean landed in the middle of the surface, only to be launched back into the air. He twirled and did a backflip before his eyes finally landed on you and he stilled himself.
Dean was smiling from ear to ear, and as you walked closer, you noticed his eyes were twinkling with excitement. He walked over to the edge of the trampoline carefully and held out his hand for you.
“C’mon, give it a try,” he coaxed.
You looked up at him with uncertainty, and there was that beautiful smile again. It made you feel warm inside, chasing away every last bit of anxiety that was left.
The first bounce felt a little unsteady. You needed a moment to get used to it. The last time you jumped on a trampoline was so long ago, you couldn’t even remember when it had been exactly.
Dean joined in after a minute of letting you find your balance.
The two of you laughed and bounced around each other. At some point, Dean came down at the exact time you did, causing you to be thrown up into the air even higher. You squealed happily, closing your eyes as you felt weightless, like you could fly.
You both felt like little kids again. Everything else was long forgotten. The storm, the cellar and the tension. You were free of worry, without a care in the world.
