Spoken Truth (Ming-Hua x Ghazan)
Mingzan, because Mingzan. For my fellow Ming Hua x Ghazan fans. A fun, smutty one-shot. NSFW/18+ but no triggers. For those who prefer to read it on AO3, link is here. Story is included under the cut.

Spoken Truth
StrawberryCatBeans: Not only do I and my co-author Haefaciel have our Tahnorra ship in common, but we also love Mingzan, and just as we did for Tahnorra, we put our minds together for this delightful work you see before you. We actually started this years ago and are pleased as punch to finally be able to bring it to the eyes of our fellow Avatar and Mingzan fans. Enjoy!
HaefacielSmilingTitan: It was a pleasure to roleplay Ghazan and Ming Hua because they both had awesome character designs, and watching these baddies kick ass with lavabending and water arm tendrils was entertaining to watch. They work so well as a team. Bolin’s comment about an “unspoken” attraction between the two characters planted the idea that hey, maybe Ghazan had feelings for Ming Hua a long time ago and now he can express that interest. We gladly had these characters enjoy some loving because villains need love too, lol.
Avatar the Last Airbender/Legend of Korra does not belong to us and is the property of DiMartino, Koneitzko, and all other copyright holders of the franchise. No profit is made off this, we're just Avatar fans creating fun content for other Avatar fans! Feedback and reblogs are always appreciated.
I have another Ming Hua story, called Arming Oneself, that happens during her childhood/teenagehood. It’s a short 3-chapter story that can be seen as a prequel to this though I wrote the two projects separately. Reading it is not required, but if you like Ming Hua, there it is because there’s little enough Ming Hua content in the world.
Content Warning – NSFW/18+ content (all consensual) Ming Hua/Ghazan
The story is set after Bolin made his observations about Ming Hua and Ghazan and their unspoken attraction.
o0o0o0o
Ming Hua rose from the campfire after dinner, in more than a mood for a bath after their recent tussle with Mako and Bolin and their time with the Earth Queen. She glanced over at P’Li. "Want to join?” the Waterbender asked her friend.
"Not tonight, but thanks."
Ming Hua shrugged and nodded, going over to the pond that lay just beyond the trees and used her water-arms to start stripping herself as she thought about how Ghazan looked at her over dinner, remembering what Bolin had said about them. It was surprising how much truth there was in the young man’s words, at least when she was concerned. She’d admired Ghazan for years, and it felt good being around him again, even just as a friend.
She’d been lonely in the volcano, and had felt almost overwhelmed being with her friends again, and had chalked it off to the high of freedom. But it’d been a while now, and she still felt the same thrill around Ghazan.
Now stripped and her clothes in a safe place, Ming Hua slipped into the water, eyes closing as she felt her element envelop her. With the warm dusty air, the water was a cool welcome, and she felt her muscles relax as she floated in the water for a bit of time.
As Ghazan reclined near the fire, he thought about the teenage Earthbender's words about unspoken attraction. Had the kid just been joking, and his prediction was a silly game that turned out to be an amazing coincidence? Or had he seen something between Ming Hua and himself? Either way, his thoughts about Ming Hua seemed to take a sharper focus ever since that comment and how Ming Hua responded, looking away from him. Yet she seemed to like being around him and they got along. It was confusing. Ever since Bolin made his comment, there seemed to be a bit of a shift between the camaraderie he had with his longtime friend.
He rose to his feet and made his way through the woods, hearing the quiet splashing of the pond. He paused, realizing that purposefully coming across someone taking a bath could be – was – pervy.
Before joining the Red Lotus, Ghazan had wooed a few women. His relationships with those women didn't last long, but he knew what things to say and do that were likely to make a woman melt. Ming Hua wasn’t like most women, though. Would she find a pick-up line charming?
As Ming Hua started moving water along her body, closing her eyes and enjoying herself, she heard the faint crack of a twig being stepped on and spun in Ghazan's direction, ice-blades coming from her water-arms and stopping within inches of him as she saw who it was.
"What are you doing here?" she demanded.
"I just wanted to take a bath too," Ghazan said, giving Ming Hua a non-threatening smile, and raising his hands. He briefly saw her breasts and toned curves, but now wasn't quite the time to admire her physique while she had ice blades drawn on him.
"But... we don't do that," she said, an edge of confusion in her tone. As most people did, she bathed either by herself or around those of the same sex. Not out of distaste for her brothers in the Red Lotus, but as with most people, it was ingrained into her by society.
"That may be true, but Zaheer is always preaching about a new era with no governments and how we are all equal. Men and women should work together and see each other as partners and all that. Who needs gender roles?" he said, parroting some of Zaheer’s words in a light tone. “… Besides, we’re friends. You know I wouldn’t hurt you and besides, you’re in a pond. I’d have to be pretty stupid to try anything there.” He gave her a warm smile.
She wanted to argue for modesty, but Ghazan did have a point. And how long had they known one another? It was a big enough pond, right? "I suppose," she said, conceding the argument to him. "Just let me know when you need the soap and I'll toss it to you."
She then moved into the deeper water and washed herself, turned away from Ghazan, yet she couldn't help but watch him out of the corner of her eye as she guided the soap and water along her body. He sat down beside the pond to take off his shoes before standing up to take off his shirt. Then he slid off the rest of his clothing, bundling them in a loose pile near her clothing, and she had to fight back the urge to stare at him full-on.
He waded into the water until he was chest-high and dunked his head. She heard a sigh of satisfaction after he broke the surface of the water, shaking his head.
“Hmmm. The water feels nice,” he commented. She was blushing from the glimpse of Ghazan's privates... he had a cock that matched his body, long and thick. It caused an ache of arousal in her, and she knew she'd be masturbating with a water whip later. She washed herself and then tossed him the soap, now simply massaging herself, guiding her water arms to work out the tension in her back.
Ghazan watched her, admiring what he was able to see. Her back was pale under the moonlight, and he wondered how it would feel if he ran his hand along it.
"You know, while I was imprisoned in a cage on that wooden boat in the middle of the ocean, I would often think about you when it rained."
She smiled a little at that. "And your face would have been a welcome sight in my cell. I was surrounded by lava, you by water. Funny how that worked out." He was gratified to see that she seemed more relaxed now.
"Being incarcerated for so long did make me think about you. I have desired to be with you before we got caught trying to abduct the Avatar. I thought I'd never get the chance but look at us now. Free from our prisons, naked in a pond together..." he stopped the sentence, smirking, trying not to be too lecherous, but he was sure he was failing. Dammit, it'd been a long time since he'd been laid.
"To be honest, I never thought that you might feel for me that way. I'm an armless woman, few men want that as a partner and the ones that seek out women like me are just… ugh." Ming Hua whispered. "I've admired you for your determination to master your element and life, and... I had the feeling that you respected me before and then Bolin said it and I caught you looking at me..." She was blushing now.
"I admire how you can use your Waterbending, arms or not. As for these idiots who only see an armless woman… well, I've seen you kick way more ass than most men who had arms. You’re pretty cool." He slowly made his way closer to Ming Hua. “I have a lot of respect for you.”
"But do you... really want me? Do you find me attractive at all?" She noticed what he was doing, and took a shy step back.
"Yes, I want you. You're a strong, beautiful woman. I enjoy your sarcastic wit. During the clear starry nights in my prison, I would picture your face in the constellations and I would miss you terribly."
"Oh, Ghazan." She had a misty smile on her face, and when he stepped forward, she did not move away. her heart was pounding from nervousness and excitement as Ghazan's biceps became more visible in the moonlight. Oh, to have arms so she could run her hands along these biceps…
"Ming Hua," Ghazan murmured as he reached to cup her face, leaning down to give her a surprisingly chaste kiss. She melted into the kiss, leaning into her would-be lover, her breasts coming into contact with his chest. His other arm wrapped around her as he deepened the kiss, seeking entry by prodding her lips with his tongue.
She felt the gentle probing at her lips and relaxed them, letting him pull her close. As she felt the arm wrap around her, she complied with it, allowing him to pull her body flush to his own, so she was able to feel his manhood against the inside of her hip.
Ming-Hua tasted like water to him and he loved it. His hands roved over her curves, enjoying the feel of her. He broke the kiss, groaning softly when he felt his manhood against her flesh.
With a shift of her hips, she ground against his pelvis, getting a good estimate of its size as she regarded him with a small smirk. "Being alone in prison with no pussy must have been hard, huh?"
"Fffff, yes." he groaned as his hand grabbed a breast and kneaded it carefully.
"Then... why don't we make up for lost time? Think of the things you've wanted to do to me while you were in prison, Let's do them." she purred. He stared at her for several moments, like a man who’d just been told that he won the lottery.
“Yes. Oh gods, yes,” Ghazan groaned, his voice thick with desire as he realized that he was finally about to deepen this attraction that was now spoken. She smirked and wrapped herself around Ghazan, her legs around his middle, and her water arms wrapped around his neck and shoulders.
“Baby… you have no idea how this makes me feel,” Ghazan whispered, cradling the back of her head with his hand as he pulled them out of the water. There was some nice and thick grass along the pond, and she shivered as she felt the blades on her back as she was lowered to it. Ghazan was a glorious sight in the moonlight, naked, his cock becoming even thicker in the warm evening air, and she felt a fresh stab of arousal as she imagined how he would feel against her, and within her. Under the moonlight, her water arms looked ethereal, glinting as they reflected the moon while they writhed around his neck and shoulders.
“Can I taste it first?” he asked, gaze moving downward. She gave out a velvety laugh of delight and nodded, loosening her grip so that he could position himself. He descended upon her hungrily, spreading her open with two fingers so that he could admire and taste her folds, feeling her shiver and clench as he slid a finger and then another inside. She sighed in enjoyment as his tongue flicked across her clit, massaging it as her thighs pressed against his cheeks.
His cock ached, but for the moment, Ming Hua was the star of the show and he treated her as such, loving up on her, using his fingers and mouth to the best of his ability, hearing her muffled squeal as she reached the peak of her pleasure, grinding herself against his face. He felt her water arms writhe against him, his cock throbbing afresh as he tasted her juices, continuing to work her with his fingers in a languid manner.
“Mmm. You enjoyed that, didn’t you,” he asked with a knowing purr as he raised his head to look down at her. The moonlight washed out the color in her pale skin, but her cheeks were rosy.
"I couldn't even touch myself in prison. Without water-arms, I was very bored, indeed." she moaned, welcoming his attention.
"Well, I'm glad I could lend you a hand. Let me know and I’ll do it for you any time." he joked before his tone became more serious. She looked beautiful in her afterglow, her eyelids fluttering, her breasts moving slightly with each breath.
She smirked at that and shivered as he sat up, his erection in view. It ached for attention, thick and hard. She rose to reach with a water tendril, giving it a firm stroke. It twitched under her touch, and she wrapped the water around him, letting the smooth appendage glide along his heated flesh. It wasn’t the first organ she had seen, but the first one she would deign to allow inside of her. It was a bit silly that she should feel so nervous as she’d not been a teenager for a good while, but a first time was a first time. At least she had found a worthy partner.
"Mmm... like that?" she whispered, seeing how he arched into that, oozing a bead of precum at the tip as she gave his erection a firm squeeze.
“Oh… yes. Way better than my hand, even if the water's cool." He wiggled his hip forward, highlighting the taut planes of his lower stomach and thighs.
"Yes, that feels good. Keep doing that." he grinned. She grinned and did just as he asked, wiggling her body closer to his. "Did you fantasize about me when we were in prison?" she whispered.
"How could I not fantasize about you?" he purred, reaching up to caress her face with his fingers. She leaned her head into his hand.
"And is this... living up to your expectations?" she smiled as she sat up. She let the water slide away from his cock before lowering her head to start kissing and licking him, tasting the warm, clean flesh, pushing back the foreskin so she could suck on the head.
"Ah! Yes." he groaned. Plenty enough fantasies to be had. A few about P'Li, and even Zaheer, but most of his fantasies centered around Ming Hua. Water snaked up and around his balls, giving him a massage, and he had to resist the urge to just shove her head down on him.
“If you keep doing that, I’m going to…” His orgasm was coming up on him faster than he’d expected. Probably from being pent-up for so long.
"I do believe that is the point," she quipped before she increased her ministrations, giving him his long-awaited release, which she happily swallowed, her head bobbing up and down. His head lolled forward as he watched her, running his fingers along her dark hair. It was so erotic to watch her lick him clean, and he felt his flesh stir to life again.
"Do you want to go further?" he asked. She nodded at that as she kissed her way up his chest, taking delight in the well-sculpted flesh, feeling his heartbeat as she kissed his solar plexus. She kissed up his neck and the side of his face.
"Ghazan, I would have no one but you to take me..." she whispered into his ear, happy that he was asking her, even though she would have let him do it anyway.
She felt his hands caress her sides as he eased her onto the grass, and she felt her heart pound a bit out of nervousness. She looked up at him as he pried her knees apart, caressing the inside of the joints with his thumbs as he did so, giving her a reassuring smile.
“I've thought so often of this. Of you like this, waiting for me, wanting to receive… and share… my passion. Fuck, but you're gorgeous, and I can't believe I'm finally getting to do this. This is a dream come true." His hands slid along her body, feeling her writhe happily in response.
“You’re not quite there yet…” She lifted her pelvis, wiggling it at him. “There’s one more thing to do, big boy.”
He laughed at that before his hands slid to her hips and he positioned himself at her quivering womanhood. He half expected to wake up and find out that this was all just one intense dream. She looked at him, lifting her chin in a gesture of invitation.
He took it, plunging forward, feeling her gasp and arch against him. When he was firmly ensconced within her, he gave her hips a firm squeeze.
“You good?” he asked, feeling her squirm around a bit.
“You’re so big, so thick,” she breathed, and he felt her clench around him, her lithe form responding to its girthy intruder.
“Few compliments please a man as much as that,” he replied glibly as he rolled his hips, causing her to give out a quiet keen.
“Ghazan… Ghazan…” She arched as he picked up the pace, shoving his thick flesh within her previously untried tunnel. There was an edge of pain, but the more he moved against her, the more that faded, her body acclimating to and then welcoming the intruder. She could sometimes feel the ridge of the head as it moved against her strained vaginal muscles, wondering how something could feel so good.
No wonder Zaheer and P’Li liked to sneak off to do these sorts of things. Looks like she would be doing the same in the future…
When he orgasmed and they kissed and cuddled for a bit, she roused him again and climbed on top, using her water arms for leverage.
“I’m never going to get tired of this,” the lavabender groaned as he thrust up into her, her head and breasts shaking with each jab. He reached up to grab one of her tits, massaging it and feeling her grind against him in an appreciative response.
“Fuck, I hope not,” came her gasping response before he rewarded her with a particularly sharp thrust that had her seeing stars.
If he could choose any one day in his life to relive over and over, this would be it, Ghazan mused to himself as he lay there with his lover who was loosely spooned to his side. One of his hands slid along her body idly, taking comfort in her presence. Even though he knew she did not register touch through her water arms like one would with flesh arms, he still took comfort in the water arms that were sliding along his body. He knew she had some sense of his form and skin, and whatever else she might manipulate with her water arms, and if she enjoyed touching him, then he wasn't going to stop her.
“I suppose we have to return to camp sometime,” Ming Hua said with a small sigh. “Only I don’t want to sleep alone…” Zaheer and P'Li shared their tent. Now that she was lovers with Ghazan, why sleep by herself, especially when his body was so warm...
"You're welcome to share my bed." he smiled. "We should get back to camp before Zaheer or P'Li come looking for us."
She nodded and slowly rose to her feet, looking glorious in the starlight with her naked body. She smiled and looked down at him, sprawled out on the grass. "I'm tempted to climb on top of you." she teased.
"And ride my ‘drill’ again? I think we would both enjoy that," he quipped.
She let out a soft, velvety chuckle at that. "Well, there's always tomorrow night," she said sweetly.
He grinned as he stood up and started to dress himself, Ming Hua doing the same. She filled her water gourds and the two of them ambled back to the campsite. Zaheer was meditating, P'Li was not seen as she was in Zaheer's tent. “Night!” Ming Hua called out. Zaheer gave a brief nod of acknowledgment, and she let Ghazan take her blankets and put them in his tent, mixing them with his own for added warmth.
The two of them cuddled, and she felt warm and happy in his arms. However later on it started to become warm in the tent, and her shirt started to feel too warm for her, especially with Ghazan shirtless. In the tent she did not have her water arms, so she tried to wiggle out of it without waking him up but was not successful as he rolled over, staring at her blearily.
"I'm hot," she whispered. "I was trying to take off my shirt and didn't mean to wake you up. Would you mind taking it off me?" Under the shirt, she had her tank top.
"Sure." He sat up and helped remove her shirt, placing a few kisses along her neck as he did so. "Is that better?"
"Mmm, yes." She smiled and laid back down, resting her head against his arm. She felt his hand gently slide along her side, relaxing under it.
“I’m glad I came to see you tonight,” Ghazan said. “After what that kid said, it was stuck in my head, and I came to realize that there was a reason why it was stuck there in the first place, right?”
“Out of the mouths of babes…” she said, shaking her head. She and Ghazan were no longer young. But they could still make up for lost time, come what may.

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 27
THE TRUTH SEER
NO-ONE’S POV
“That was a disaster!” Ghazan barks out, sliding down against the rough, rocky wall. “We failed.”
There, sitting in the small enclosed dead-end cave that was their hideout, the Red Lots were fuming with frustration and disappointment.
Their attempt to kidnap Avatar Korra at the city of Zaofu was a complete failure.
No, not a failure. An utter disaster.
They planned it out so well. Took every single detail into account, every possible scenario, every possible difficulty that can occur. It was a fool-proof.
And yet, here they are. Here they are back in their hideout, returning from the city of metal with nothing but their pride and confidence wounded.
“We will have future opportunities.” P’li assures her friends, trying to be the optimistic one in the group. “We will have another chance soon enough.”
“Yeah, right.” Ming-Hua sarcastically retorts, clearly not sharing the optimism.
“We will.” P’li insists.
Silence falls. The room is thick with infuriation and melancholy.
“What I don’t understand is how we failed.” Ghazan grumbles, clearly still upset for how the events have turned out. “Our plan was perfect.”
“We were misled.”
The three members of the Red Lotus turned to the source of the voice who has their full attention like a moth to the flame.
Standing at the mouth of the cave facing the starry night sky with a crescent moon, hands clasped behind his back, was their friend and leader.
“Aiwei told me we would not face any problems seizing the Avatar.” Zaheer continues with tightness evident in his speech. “His arrogance and blunder have compromised us.”
A loud snort emits from Ghazan. “You can say that again.”
P’li, on the other hand, frowns slightly in concern. There’s something about her lover’s voice that is off. Something has spooked him.
“There’s more, isn’t there?” The combustion bender pushes. “Something happened there.”
It was a statement. Not a question.
Zaheer closed his eyes, deep in thought.
“Yorru?!”
Interesting. Very interesting.
So, they meet again.
“The Avatar has an airbender amongst her friends.” He finally responds. “I fought with them just before we escaped.”
“Yeah, I saw.” Ming-Hua says with a hint of confusion, not slightly sure where this is going. “So, the Avatar has an airbender too. They didn’t seem to be very special.”
Zaheer opens his eyes, finishing his replay of their first meeting in the Spirit World.
“We have met before.”
He doesn’t need to turn to their direction to know that his friends are surprised.
“When?” P’li asks, still shocked by the bombshell that was placed upon them all.
“A few weeks ago.” Zaheer explains. “Just before Harmonic Convergence. I found them in the middle of a forest in the Spirit World trying to find Wan Shi Tong’s library. I introduced myself with a fake alias and guided them to it.”
“Did you know they were friends with the Avatar?” Ghazan asks.
Now, that is the question.
When Zaheer saw the young wonderer garbed in Southern Water Tribe clothes in the Spirit World so soon before Harmonic Convergence, he did have suspicions. These rose when the young stranger mentioned being separated from their friends. Did he suspect that they were affiliated with Avatar Korra? That was one of them, yes. But that’s all it was. A suspicion.
A suspicion he should have listened too.
“The thought came to me.” He finally answers, calm and cool as ever. “However, I couldn’t be certain.”
Ming-Hua raises her eyebrows slightly. “And I take it when you two fought, you were recognised?”
The look on their face when they saw Zaheer in Zaofu immediately springs to his mind. Their widen eyes, their dropped jaw, and their frozen stature. He can imagine he probably looked similar.
“Yes, I was.” Zaheer confirms, gazing down at the floor. “It’s possible they know of our intentions as well.”
“What?!” They all exclaim.
The memory of their exchange returns once again.
“I am worthless to the eyes of corrupt leaders of the nations. But here? Here, I feel more alive than ever."
The moment those words left his lips, he knew he said too much. His first conversation with someone who wasn’t a White Lotus Guard after thirteen long years made him talkative. Too talkative.
“Despite using a fake alias,” Zaheer begins slowly. “I revealed my disdain for corrupt leaders. It’s possible they might link it to our motives.”
“Great.” Ghazan sarcastically groans. “Another problem. Just terrific.”
Not necessarily, Zaheer thinks to himself. Perhaps, an opportunity.
He remembers their similarities in their discussions. They both liked the Spirit World and had a deep interest in the Air Nation. Who knows? Maybe, they might have more similarities than meets the eye.
Now that the Avatar’s friend has airbending, they would most likely become an Air Nomad. They did express interest in becoming an Acolyte, after all. A monk of the Air Nation would be a step above.
Unless…
“What was their name anyway?” P’li asks him.
Finally, Zaheer turns to face his friends.
“Y/N.”
Unless, of course, they learn more of their shared similarities. Maybe, just maybe, they might listen for what he has to say.
There’s a high chance of failure. They are friends with the Avatar. They won’t betray her so easily.
Still, the idea is all too intriguing to not be at least pushed forward.
Their top priority is Avatar Korra. But Y/N?
They are a close second.
A close second that Zaheer is very interested in.
TIME SKIP
Y/N’S POV
The very next day we began our investigation.
Korra made a full recovery from the toxins that Zaheer and his friends subjected her to. I have mostly healed but my back does ache a little every now and again. Still, it’s better than nothing.
Now we have all rested from the attack on Zaofu, we have started interrogating the guards one by one.
It’s a simple but rather genius method. Thanks to Aiwei being able to detect lies, our process of elimination was a simple thing. First was Kuvira, the Captain of the Guard. She, obviously, wasn’t guilty. Then over and over the guards came with each of them providing their alibies and explanations. So far, we have nothing but innocent people.
And now…
“What was I doing last night?” Varrick repeats Aiwei’s question. Despite being under interrogation, he displays no trace of fear or worry. On the contrary, he was as excited and flamboyant as ever while his assistant, Zhu Li, I think, standing coldly and still right behind him. “Same thing I always do. From nine to ten, I checked my body for ticks. Lyme disease is a serious killer.”
…what?
Then, suddenly, he stands up with one leg on the chair and begins…exercising?
“Then I did my nightly Varrick calisthenics, followed by thirty minutes of breath holding.” The businessman explains whilst showing us exactly what he was doing. “I filmed the whole thing if you want to watch it.”
Um…
I glance to my left and I see Aiwei with a hand on his head, clearly looking tired, Korra holding back her laughter with her hand, Mako pinching the bridge of his nose in annoyance, and Suyin has both of her hands clasped in front of her mouth, clearly disturbed by the whole ideal.
Yeah…
Glad to know I’m not the only one having a unique reaction from Varrick’s…explanation.
After Aiwei dismissed Varrick and his assistant, we are now all left alone.
Well, this is great. So far we have no luck.
“Maybe it wasn’t a guard after all.” Lin speaks up. “Maybe it was someone a little higher up the food chain. Aiwei, why don't you question Su?”
WHAT?!
“Don’t be ridiculous, Lin!” I bark out angrily. “Why would Suyin intentionally let Zaheer and the others into Zaofu?”
Suyin, however, seems completely unfazed by her half sister’s accusation. “No, it is fine. I’ll gladly be questioned. I have nothing to hide.”
She walks by the table and sits opposite of Aiwei with utmost of confidence.
Aiwei, slightly uncomfortable, begins the questioning. “What is your full name?”
“Suyin Beifong.” The matriarch answers without hesitation. “I’m the daughter of Toph and the only sister to Lin, and I had nothing to do with the attack last night.”
“She is telling the truth.” Aiwei tells Lin immediately after Suyin answered his question.
Korra just sighs in frustration. “This is a waste of time! Just bring in the guard.”
I agree. This is pointless. Let’s hope we get more success with the next one.
The guard enters and sits down opposite the truth seer without question. He is quite young, probably roughly around my age.
“Give me your name and tell me where you’re from.” Aiwei instructs the guard.
The young man does as he asks. “I'm Hong Li. I was born and raised here in Zaofu.”
Aiwei continues. “Do you have any knowledge of the people who tried to kidnap the Avatar?”
“No.”
Unlike the previous times, the truth seer stiffens. What?!
“Did you help the attacks enter Zaofu last night?”
“No, of course not.”
“You’re lying.”
WHAT?!
Shock spreads all across Hong Li’s face. “What?! No, I’m not.”
Suyin ignores his words as he marches right up to him, pure rage and hatred emitting from each of her steps, and grabs the guard by the armour and slams him against the wall with a strength twice her size! “How did they get in and out?! Where are they now?!”
The shock painted across the guard is now replaced with genuine fear. “I don’t know! I’m telling you, I didn’t help them!”
I frown slightly as I observe him. He looks way too young to be affiliated with them. Zaheer and his friends were imprisoned for thirteen years. When would they have the time to recruit some kid and why him of all people? Surely, it would be wiser to recruit someone with more experience? Plus, the shock and fear from Hong Li looks too genuine to be fake.
Suyin, however, doesn’t see it that way. “You’re a traitor to the entire clan!”
“Wait, wait.” I speak up, moving closer to the two. “Something about this isn’t right.”
The matriarch shifts her attention to me, frustration evident in her glare. “Aiwei said he was lying! He is the traitor!”
“I’m not!” Hong Li shouts, clearly having lost all composure and calmness in the situation. I can see tears at the edge of his eyes. “I swear, I’m not!”
I gaze at the guard. “How old are you, Hong Li?”
“Eighteen!”
That young?! That makes it even more unbelievable!
I turn back to the others, confused looks across their features. “Don’t you all think that’s strange? Zaheer and his friends were locked up for over a decade. How and when did they have the time to recruit someone so young?”
“You do have a point.” Mako agrees, holding onto his chin in a thoughtful look. “That does seem a little odd.”
Aiwei, however, still looks unconvinced. “With all due respect, Y/N, but I am the truth seer here. I felt Hong Li was lying. I suggest we investigate his home.”
Hm.
“I agree.” Korra says and begins walking to the exit. “Come on.”
TIME SKIP
“I got something!”
The urgency in the firebender’s voice grabs all of our attentions from an intense focus on examining Hong Li’s home.
There, in Mako’s hand, is some sort of note. “It looks like it’s from them. “Team assembled. Ready to rendezvous”
Hm.
Then, I see Asami handing some sort of book to Aiwei. “And look at this.”
After a quick examination of the book, the truth seer realises what it is. “These are the guards' logbooks. All their schedules and routes are in here.”
Hm…
“That guard knows everything.” Korra declares. “We have to get him to talk.”
Mako seems to agree with this too. “Let’s go confront him with this evidence right now.”
“No.”
Huh?!
We all turn to Aiwei, confusion amongst us all.
What does he mean with no?! Why not?!
“Let’s give him little time to sweat it out.” He clarifies. “He will talk eventually.”
And, just like that, he simply walks away.
A growing pit in my stomach begins to emerge.
The truth seer’s behaviour seems very…suspicious.
Before we head out of the room, I stop my friends.
“Something isn’t right.” I tell them with complete seriousness.
Mako nods. “I agree. I don't understand why we can’t talk to him right now. The longer we wait, Zaheer and his friends get further away. Plus, like you said, they were locked up for thirteen years and Hong Li’s only eighteen and has lived in Zaofu his entire life. When did they have time to recruit him?”
I hum in agreement. The more we talk about this, the more it seems so suspicious.
“I don’t know, but we saw all the evidence.” Korra says, clearly unsure about what Mako and I are saying. “It’s pretty overwhelming.”
“Too overwhelming.” I retort.
“What do you mean?” Asami asks.
I pace around the room, hands clasped behind my back. “I mean, how did a random guard, a very young one no-less, was able to obtain a book of all the guards’ logbooks? And Hong Li had the entire night to dispose of the evidence and yet left all the evidence that could incriminate him in his home that can easily be found. If you’re helping orchestrate an attack, the last thing you want is having some loose ends. It seems like all of this has been planted to frame him, like Varrick did with Mako.”
“You’re right.” Mako agrees. “Hong Li is the fallback.”
“But for who?” Bolin asks with anticipation.
Mako and I share glances. We both have the same suspect.
“For the only person who can truly keep a secret: Aiwei.”
TIME SKIP
This is bad.
This is really, really bad.
But necessary.
“Let’s just be quick.” I tell them as we walk right into the truth seer’s home.
It took some hesitation initially but we all decided to investigate to see if there is any evidence that could support our theory.
The theory that it was Aiwei who let Zaheer into Zaofu.
I really hope this isn’t true but the suspicions are too high.
We start looking around for a few minutes, examining each and every corner, object, painting, you name it. Asami did find one book but it was completely blank. Korra and I hadn’t found anything of interest.
The sound of scraping metal catches all of our attention.
Mako, the bright and brilliant detective that he is, found something. A secret entrance behind a bookshelf!
“What’s down there?” Korra asks aloud as we all peer down to total blackness.
“Could be a storage cellar.” Bolin suggests.
“Or it could be how Zaheer got in and out.” Mako counters with a more convincing argument.
That’s got to be it!
I see Asami’s face morph from curiosity into panic. “Aiwei’s coming back! Quick!”
SHIT!
We all manage to pull back the shelf back to its original position but before we can even have a chance to leave, the truth seer enters with frustration painted across his features.
Uh oh.
“What are you doing in my house?” Aiwei asks us, annoyance present in his voice. “You are trespassing on the property of one of the highest-ranked officials in the city. You'd better have a good explanation.”
At the corner of my eye, I see Bolin ready to make a Bolin response. That won’t be good.
I speak up before the earthbender can do so. “We apologise for the rude interruption. “It’s just we are unsatisfied with how this investigation is doing and we thought you could have some answers.”
Surprisingly, Aiwei gestures to the seats in the room. “Sit. If you want to talk, let’s talk over tea.”
Hm.
After a split moment of reluctance and a eerie glances to one another, we listen to his suggestion. Asami, Mako, and I sit on the sofa while Korra and Bolin on two separate chairs with one circular table in the centre. As we do so, our generous host begins making us tea and one by one he hands the cups to us.
Eh, I better not drink it. Who knows what could be in it?
“Now, how come are you unsatisfied with the investigation?” Aiwei asks us as he finishes pouring his tea. I can sense the tenseness in his words. “Hong Li was clearly lying and we found evidence in his apartment.”
“But don’t you think it’s weird how young he is?” Mako asks him, trying to keep his cool. “Like Y/N said, how and when did they have the time to recruit someone so young?”
As the firebender asks his questions, we all notice Aiwei walking closer and closer to his bookshelf. Uh oh.
“Perhaps through a relative, or maybe he was bribed.” He responds nonchalantly. “We will find out those answers in time. But if wasn't him, who do you think it was?”
Shit.
“No clue.” I quickly reply.
Then, I see him moving a jar slightly, presumably back to its original position. I see Korra glare at Bolin for a second and I realise he was the one who moved it during our search.
Shit.
“You don't think I had something to do with this, do you?”
SHIT!
Korra responds immediately whilst simultaneously choosing her next words extremely carefully so she wouldn’t have to lie to our suspect. “We're just looking for answers.”
And you think you've found something, don't you?” Aiwei pushes as he continues to examine his bookshelf. Then, he pauses.
I share looks with my friends and we all have the same thought. We have trouble.
With a slow head turn, he glares directly at Korra.
“You have no idea what is coming for you, Avatar.”
Then, before the words can even register in my mind, he begins metalbending his stairs to act as cover!
NO!
Mako throws a fireball in his direction in a desperate vain attempt to stop him but it’s no use. The stairs have been metalbent to the ceiling in perfect condition. He can’t let escape!
We all rush towards the stairs and Korra begins metalbending into the war, but it only results in a small rupture.
“Come on, he's getting away!” Mako barks out.
Korra doesn’t appreciate the command. “I'm still a little new at this, so back off!”
Then, finally she rips a hole open. Great!
Rushing down to the door, I push the others aside until I’m the first to approach the metal door at the end. “Come on, guys! We got to make sure he doesn’t escape!”
“Y/N, wait!”
I don’t listen and open the door-
-Only to see a bomb!
SHIT!
On instinct, I raise my arms into the air and the split second afterwards a blinding orange light surrounds us…but it doesn’t bring harm. Instead, we end up standing still in the middle of a pit of destruction and chaos.
Did…did I just create an air shield?
“Is everyone all right?”
“Yes but look!” Korra points forward to the end of the now destroyed room and I see it. “He must've escaped through there! Bolin, help me clear it out.”
The two earthbenders begin carving their way through and a short while afterwards they reveal a tunnel entrance. That must be how Aiwei escaped. Dammit!
The sounds of rushed footsteps from behind grabs my attention and I turn to see Lin and Suyin with panic and urgency written across their faces.
“What happened? We heard an explosion.”
“Where’ Aiwei?”
I cross my arms. “Gone. He was the one who betrayed us. He used his apartment to get Zaheer in and out, framed Hong Li, and then the coward took off!”
The fear that was on the matriarch’s face shifts to shock…and sadness. Her emerald eyes go dim. “No…”
Ignoring the scene from her sister, Lin uses her seismic sense technique on the tunnel. Her answer is immediate. “He must have collapsed the tunnel behind him.”
“And he rigged an explosion to destroy any evidence that might have been here.”
“I…I trusted him.”
I gaze back at Suyin and I can practically see her heart break in two. For the first time since coming here, I feel sorry for her.
The moment is interrupted, however, as Kuvira marches down from above. “Is everyone okay?”
The Chief is quick to bark out orders. “Aiwei is a fugitive. Get all available guards to search the mountainside and find out where this tunnel exits immediately!”
When Kuvira leaves to do just that, the roughness normally typical from the older Beifong shifts to gentleness as I see her begin to comfort her sister. The sympathy already present in my heart amplifies.
Dammit…
Even when they aren’t present, Zaheer and his friends still deal a heavy blow to us all.
Can this get any worse?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And that's it!
I hope you enjoyed this chapter!
Feedback is appreciated!
See you all later! :D

an unspoken attraction (ghazan x ming-hua fluff/smut, 18+)
Tumblr media
Summary: Ghazan and Ming-Hua go to Misty Springs Oasis to stake out in search of the Avatar and find themselves in the pool.
Pairing: Ghazan x Ming-Hua
Word Count: 2kish
Tags: fluff, smut, childhood bffs, sexual tension, choking
Warnings: none
Ming-Hua scowled out the window as she hoisted herself up onto the small wooden stool that Misty Springs’s “deluxe suite” offered. The night wasn’t getting any younger, and she was already annoyed that Zaheer gave her the “stake-out” assignment instead of something actually worthwhile.

“Looking as radiant as ever,” a deep voice chortled from the back corner of the room.
Ming-Hua shot a nasty glare toward Ghazan, her irritatingly tall dark and handsome accomplice in the entire debacle. It’s not that he doesn't make smug comments like that all the time, but it was getting late and Ming-Hua was getting tired. Besides, she hadn’t eaten anything since the morning.
“Whatever,” she shot back. Not the best comeback, but. “This is the most pointless task ever. I doubt that the Avatar is even here. We got one tip from what, someone in the spirit world ? Give me a break.”
“It’s best to trust Zaheer and just go with it,” the lavabender shrugged off as he rose up from the creaky twin bed that was pushed in the corner. The bed shook as he lifted his weight off. “He sent us here for a reason.”
“I suppose,” the waterbender grumbled, looking down at her empty stomach. “Hey, don’t you think we can get something to eat? I’m starving.”
“Don’t have to tell me twice,” Ghazan replied as he shimmied over. “Here.”
He slipped her a small parcel wrapped in bamboo leaves.
“What is this..?” Ming-Hua asked, but was already beginning to undo the meager string that held the package together with her water hand. “And where did you even get it?”
“Stole it from the marketplace downtown from before,” Ghazan shrugged. “Knew you would start moaning and groaning about it sooner or later so..”
Ming-Hua’s face lit up when the tea leaves came apart to reveal a hefty portion of fried bean curd, one of her favorites. “Thank you.”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t get too used to it,” Ghazan said, crossing his arms across his chest. Ming-Hua took note of his muscled triceps and the veins and tattoo that striped over them. “We might not be able to get food for a little while after this.”
“Aren’t you going to have a bite too?” Ming-Hua suggested, breaking off a piece of the bean curd.

“Not hungry,” Ghazan replied, a little bit too quickly. “Just eat.”
The waterbender didn’t argue back, using her icy claw to bring the delicious cube up to her lips and enjoying her meal happily. But she knew he was lying. Ghazan was very subtly selfless like that. It was one of the things that made her fall so hard for him when they were just kids.

Ghazan stood close over her, leaning against the wall and slightly parting open the curtains as she ate. “You know..” he mused. “That pool looks mighty tempting right about now.”
“Absolutely not,” Ming-Hua shot down. “What if the Avatar sees us? We can’t just blow our cover like that.”
“Weren’t you the one who just said she’s not even in there?” the lavabender teased. “Besides, it’s the middle of the night. She’s probably asleep by now for fuck’s sake.”
Ming-Hua contemplated for a bit in silence. Ghazan had a point three, and she was definitely getting some major cabin fever from just sitting around all day.
“We could even skinnydip ,” Ghazan suggested, leaning over her shoulder. He placed his large hand gently over the back of her neck, caressing her skin ever so softly.
“We are not swimming naked,” the waterbender snapped back, slapping his hand away with her fluid arm. “People could just look out their window.”
“Doesn’t that make it all the more exciting though?” the lavabender chuckled, rubbing his hand.
Ming-Hua sighed, peering out the window. The Misty Springs pool actually looked somewhat appealing. The pool lights were on and the moonlight poured over the surface of the still water, which was ebbing gently with the warm breeze. It was practically beckoning her to dive in headfirst.
“Fine,” she finally relented. “But you go in first. I’m going to change. And don’t peek.”
“God, you’re such a prude,” Ghazan scoffed, already beginning to undo his belt and remove his clothes. “Besides, if you wanted to see me shirtless so badly, you could’ve just said so.”
Ming-Hua found herself mesmerized by the tattoos across his shoulder and neck, also unable to remove her gaze from his toned chest. She was so preoccupied she could barely summon a witty remark.
“J-just go!” she stuttered, flicking him with her water tendril. “You are so annoying.”
“I won’t say another word,” Ghazan smirked, grabbing a towel off the nightstand and flipping it over his shoulder. “Don’t take too long.” The lavabender was already out the door and cannonballing into the pool.
Ming-Hua let out another resounding sigh, looking at herself in the mirror and smoothing out some of the pleats in her clothes. She gradually began to remove her robes, stripping down to her bra and underwear.
She looked over her almost nude body once more, skipping over the blemishes and imperfections that she would rather forget. She liked her round hips and tight stomach. And how her long, jet black hair draped over her slim frame. Her teal, lacy bralette cupped her perky breasts just right, and her matching turquoise panties complimented her skin tone quite well.
She hoped Ghazan would think the same.
Shyly, Ming-Hua cracked open the wooden door to their dingy motel room and peered out towards the pool. Ghazan had his chiseled back turned to her, his elbows resting on the concrete ledge. Once he heard her tiptoe over, he turned his head around and flashed one of his signature grins.
“Took you long enough,” the lavabender teased.
“Yeah, yeah,” Ming-Hua replied, stepping gingerly into the still waters of the pool. Her tendrils gently dissolved into the water, and for the first time, she simply allowed it to happen. The temperature was cool, but not cold. The warm winds of the desert lightly brushed up against her skin.

“Well, why are you sitting so far away?” Ghazan asked, sliding slightly towards her.
“I feel alright here,” she snapped back, a little bit too quickly for comfort.

Ghazan rolled his eyes, scooping her up in his arms, carrying her over to the stairs that led into the pool.

“Wh-what are you doing?!” the waterbender cried, trying to wiggle out of his iron grip.

“Just expediting what’s inevitably going to happen,” Ghazan said with a hint of laughter in his voice. He gently sat down, placing Ming-Hua’s smaller body between his legs so they were both resting comfortably. The water level was swaying gently over their shoulders.
Ming-Hua pouted. “Idiot.”
“I know you want me, Ming-Hua,” Ghazan whispered softly. “You don’t have to keep fighting it.”
“Well, you make it too obvious sometimes,” Ming-Hua replied. Her muscles gradually relaxed, though, and she found herself leaning into Ghazan’s torso. She hadn’t felt this safe and quiet in a very long time. Not since before she went to prison.
Ghazan smiled as he felt her practically melt into him. He took note of how soft and supple she felt against his callused, hardened. skin. How she cradled so perfectly in his arms, and how she trusted him enough to let her guard down around him. It was an honor that Ghazan did not take lightly.
The pair sat in silence for a few minutes.
“So..” Ghazan interjected. “Do you ever think about what it would be like if things were different?”
“What do you mean,” Ming-Hua mused, her eyes closed. She felt the lavabender’s hand glide over her bare stomach and around her curved waist. She always felt at peace when she was surrounded by water.
“I mean.. if we never joined the Red Lotus. If life took us in a different direction,” Ghazan proposed.
“Hmmm..” Ming-Hua hummed, re-adjusting her position a little bit. “I suppose if that happened, we probably would have never met. I most likely would have been married off from a young age. Maybe become a healer.”
“Yeah?” Ghazan said, his hand gently moving its way over her chest to wrap lazily around her neck.
“Mhm,” the waterbender sighed. She secretly loved it when Ghazan would cradle his hand over her neck, or sometimes even squeeze slightly.
“I think I probably would have been a merchant. Or maybe a pirate if I felt like it. I don’t know. Things were very different back then,” Ghazan murmured, as he began applying some slight pressure around Ming-Hua’s throat.
The waterbender moaned quietly, molding her body even closer into his, her legs shuddering as he slowly began to choke her just the way she liked.
Ghazan planted a soft kiss in the curve of her neck, causing her to whine, harboring an undying need for him that she was all too familiar with.
“Ghazan..” she whispered. “We shouldn’t. People might see..”
“Then let them,” he reassured, continuing to kiss his way over her collarbone.
Ming-Hua relished in the feeling of Ghazan’s hot tongue piercing the sensitive parts of her skin.
“You really are too good at that,” she muttered, leaning further into him. Ming-Hua absolutely adored it when the lavabender would devote all his attention to her. Like the way he would grip his hands around her waist when he felt protective of her. Or how he would grunt and hold onto the headboard of the bed when she went down on him. And the way he would bend her over a table and begin pounding into her relentlessly, sliding his hand over the curve of her back while she cried out with glee.
“It’s because I know you, Ming-Hua,” he whispered into her ear. “I have known you very well for a very long time..”
His hand gently meandered its way down her abdomen and into her panties, two of his fingers hooking up and massaging her swollen clit.
To know someone. Ming-Hua played around with the thought in her mind. It was true. She and Ghazan practically grew up together. She joined the Red Lotus when she was young, when she barely even knew who she was. I mean, hell, they were just kids at the time.
Ming-Hua always harbored a sort of secret crush on him. He was a few years older, more talkative, more laid back. She always felt like a certain sort of darkness swirled within her. But Ghazan carried with him a lightness, an ease. He wasn’t so easily bothered by his past, or the current state of affairs, or any silly details that Ming-Hua liked to obsess over.
Ghazan was now stretching Ming-Hua wide open, his index and middle finger working expertly, churning inside of her and causing a jolt of electricity to ascend up her spine.
The waterbender lazily turned her head to the side, kissing him on the lips and resting her head into the crook of his neck.
“You know, we really should be keeping watch..” she murmured, glancing up at the darkened rooms of Misty Springs.
“I’d rather look at the stars,” Ghazan said, returning her kiss.
Ming-Hua rolled her eyes. Always so needlessly poetic.
“See that one?” the lavabender unwrapped one of his hands from around her neck, breaking the kiss, (much to her dismay), and pointed up at a smattering of stars in the inky night sky.
“Uh huh,” she replied, as if she was waiting for the punchline of a joke.
“That one is called Zhinu, and the one next to it is called Niulang,” he continued, carving out the contour of the constellations with his finger. “Zhinu was a weaver lady, and Niulang was a cattle herder. They ended up falling in love and neglecting their duties.”
“How romantic,” Ming-Hua yawned. She secretly liked how Ghazan took interest in these trivial things, though. She found it to be endearing. “Can we go inside now? It’s getting cold.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Ghazan agreed, helping the waterbender up on her feet and guiding her back inside the room. Ming-Hua took note of how his hand never left her hips, almost as if he was transporting precious cargo.
“We don’t want you getting sick,” the lavabender teased. “After all, you do have the immune system of an emaciated child.”
Ming-Hua slapped him over her shoulder with her water tendril, drenching Ghazan all over again. He quickly bit his tongue, a lesson he learned all too well with the waterbender.
The pair spent the rest of the night drying off, warming up, and cuddling together, not a single worry wasted on spying on the Avatar. That would be a concern for the following day. Right now, the time belonged to them and them only.

ATLA x Teikoku (IE) headcanons :
First part :
* Genda is the Avatar, born in the desert near Ba Sing Se
* Kazemaru is an air nomad who left the temple he was born and raised in because he believed he had the power to help other people, outside of his community. He’s the first to meet Genda and teaches him about the spirit world
* Fudou is a banished fire prince (hello Zuko), "lost his honor" because the royal family is hella transphobic
* However our unbothered trans king decided he will kidnap his own "princess" and get the throne he deserves
* So he keeps trying to capture Sakuma, who is based on Yue
* Young prince of the Northern Water Tribe, was offered to a spirit as a newborn to save his people, therefore part of said spirit lives in his right eye
* Although his sacrifice was valued, he is now considered too fragile to be a leader and is kept inside the palace in case the spirits need new offerings (= him)
* Royals/Enemies to lovers Fusaku ? y e s
* Genda and Kazemaru eventually get to the Northern Water Tribe and meet our chaotic princes
* I haven’t done much more but the ot4 will be real
Second part : Red Lotus
* Set during LOK
* less original, I just assigned them the 4 red lotus members
* Because they’re my favorite villains and my ot4 deserves the best
* Dark Kazemaru as Zaheer because he is fit to be a leader, and yes my boy would totally go too far for his ideals (also the road from nonbender to great airbender is just perfect for him)
* Sakuma as P’li because i wanted to combine his Nevus of Ota with the combustion bending eye symbol
* Although combustion bending fits his anger issues masked by silent fury
* Genda as Ghazan because tattoos
* also lava bending is hella cool (and they’re both buff)
* Fudou as Ming Hua because hi girlie
* You look so crazy right now i love it
* It just makes sense

Tumblr media
Honestly, everything seemed okay at the time. You were apart of Team Avatar, just growing up as a kid on the streets you found Bolin and Mako, and they decided to take care of you. Birds of a feather stick together. Because you were apart of Team Avatar you got to travel with them to find the rest of the new airbenders. Asumi appreciated having a metalbender on a metal airship. Like, if there’s a dent you’ll bend it out ya know?
Being a metalbender meant you are also an earthbender, you never really liked bending rocks and stuff, plus you could manipulate metal into whatever you imagine. Knives, swords, bracelets, literally anything. When you arrived at Zoafu, you were amazed by how everyone manipulated the metal. A boy had caught your eye, his name was Wei Beifong. He was a twin to a brother named Wing, both the youngest of the family. That was amazing to you, being the youngest one of this entire group.
You both had a lot in common, shared the same sense of humor and competitiveness. You clicked immediately. Fell in love even, he was the flirt that always made you blush. “You look amazing today.” “Green is a great color on you.” “Wow, do you just metalbend? Because something else his bending up.” You always got flustered and stopped what you were doing. If you were bending while he said any of that? It stops immediately and the metal crashes to the ground.
Wei finally asked you out, and you became his girlfriend. You were so fucking happy and so was he. The relationship was amazing, everything was so pure and loving, practicing bending together, cuddles, power naps. Everything with him made you happy. Everyone was so happy for you, Mako and Bolin has never ever seen you that happy. Your smile was simply beautiful and everyone noticed. Korra, your close gal pal noticed more, happy about it.
Everything changed when the Red Lotus attacked.
Korra was being abducted by them, and because you shared a room with the young Avatar, they took you as well. Knocked you out by hitting your head since they didn’t have another tranquilizer. Your head was bleeding from the force of the blow to your head, leaving a small droplet trail of blood. Pabu woke Mako and Bolin up, both waking up to fight and hopefully save both of you.
They all tried their best, Wei fought with his aunt and mother to let him go down to save you but being a mother, Suyin refused. They weren’t able to get you, they were fast but Ming-Hua was faster, basically encapsulating your body in water. Bubbles of oxygen rose up to the top, everyone watched in horror as the last bubble rose from your mouth and nose.
The Red Lotus immediately took you to the hideout that would eventually hold Korra. You woke up to a burning sensation in your chest, you rolled over and started to vomit up water mixed with the last thing you ate. Your head was pounding as you finally regained your vision that was blurry. Your clothing wasn’t the same as what you had on when you went to sleep the other night. More like rags.
“Don’t bother trying to bend.” A man’s voice said, causing you to flinch and turn towards the voice. A man with tanned skin, broad shoulders, long black hair, and a small and thin mustache. You didn’t recognize this man so your face of confusion caused him to sigh. “I am Ghazan.” Okay, that name rang a bell. You heard of him from adults while growing up, he’s an earthbending master with the unique ability to lavabend. Metalbending was already a substyle of earthbending, but he was the only one you have ever heard of that could lavabend. Even growing up you thought it was a myth.
He also was a criminal, everything was making sense now. You tried to stand up but your chains and registrants only jiggled. “Yuh-You don’t know who I-I am.” You state, fear overtaking your body as if you could sense his power, and that fucking scared you. “You don’t think an earthbending master can’t tell one of their own?” Your eyes widened in which Ghazan just smirked and chuckled softly. “I didn’t know which type but, your face confirmed that suspension.” “Bastard.” You mumbled under your breath earning a slap to the face. “Watch your tone. You are not in control here.”
Your eyes watered from the hit, your left cheek started to sting from that slap. You tried to bend the chains away to no avail. “Yeah keep trying, you can’t bend platinum.” Ghazan taunted and backed up to the doorway. That’s when you realized you were in a wooden cage, suspending above the ground. You started to panic. “What do you want with me?! I’m not important.” You yell, thinking that they could let you go, they obviously wouldn’t.
“We’ve been doing our best.” Kuvira said to Wei Beifong, who had been worried sick for you for two weeks now. “Well try HARDER.” He hissed and stormed off. “Wei…” Wing sighed and ran after his brother. “Listen, we all care about her and we are looking for her but there’s only so much we can do.” Wing explained to his brother that was now fuming with hatred and anger. “You didn’t care for Y/n the same way I did! You don’t understand how I fell! The person I love his captured and possibly being tortured-” His voice cracked as a few tears rolled down his cheeks. “I don’t even want to think about it.” He sniffled and quickly wiped his eyes before turning down the hall.
Your screams were deafening, this was mostly because Ghazan was burning you with lava, Ming-Hua delicately stabbing your sides with ice spikes, and Zaheer suffocating you then letting you slip unconscious. You felt so weak, like you were on the verge of death but they wouldn’t let you die. That was the worst punishment for you. You just wanted to die or see your friends and boyfriend again. Blood trickled down your leg as you blinked back tears from the spike stabbing your left thigh. Your throat was raw from screaming, so you didn’t even bother with it. Why scream? It’s been clear for weeks that no one was coming to your aid.
To your understanding, it has been five weeks since they originally brought you here. Yes, you were fed, dressed, cleaned, and you had been given water, but doesn’t mean the torture ever stopped. Each passing week they took their frustrations out on you, until you heard other’s come, murmurs of them being Airbenders. ‘Opal, oh my god Opal is with the airbenders.’
“Opal! Jinora! Ikki!” You scream, your voice cracking and raw, that’s when you saw then, under your cage. Oh no, these bastards took children? You weren’t anywhere close to the ground so you couldn’t even help them, shit. “Y/n? Oh my spirits you’re okay!” Opal said happily and looked up at you. “Wei? Is-Is he okay?” You whisper weakly and grip the wooden planks with your bloody and bruised body. “He’s worried, hopefully they’ll be here soon…”
It was easy, Korra is going to let the airbenders go and then they would reveal your location. Wei was nervously waiting along with the rest of the Zaofu soldiers, shaking from the anticipation and worry for his girlfriend. “She better be alive.” He mumbled under his breath as they waited on the side of the cliff, remembering the moment he found out you were taken.
Wei’s face fell when Bolin told him what had happened to you, his girlfriend, HIS Y/n. “What?” He snapped, his voice and expression going dark with murderous like intent. “Wei calm down-” Wing started, “Don’t FUCKING tell me what to do.” Wei snapped at his brother and whipped back around to Bolin. “So you’re telling me, you had her, you had them knocked out, and YET you didn’t fucking grab her? You had her in your sights and you didn’t do shit? Ha...haha.” He started to laugh a ran a shaky hand through his hair as tears started to flow down. “She’s gone...and it’s all of YOUR fault.” Wei made the ground beneath him bend into a crater as his emotions got stronger at the loss. He shoved Bolin back and stormed off, leaving a trail of tears behind.
Wei Beifong was shattered at the loss of his first love. He never gave up hope on finding her, he made SURE everyone was looking for you. No stone was left unturned when searching for you. He was so hurt by this, he swore that the Red Lotus would be fucking obliterated for laying a finger on his Y/n.
Your vision blurred when seeing a familiar tanned skinned girl in blue, but your ears worked. “Strap the Avatar to the platinum chains, and let that earthbender down, she’s too weak to even hold her head up. Bring her to where the Avatar will be held.” The familiar voice spoke, Zaheer. Fuck sake, you were gonna die. You let out a bitter chuckle as you were dragged out of the cell by Ming-Hua and her waterbending. “You’re going to try and kill the Avatar yeah? Good luck, she’s a tough nut to crack. I doubt you’ll be able to do it.”
Taunting earned you a firm slap to the face which made your vision get spotty and blurry for a second while your head spun. “Do you really want your last word to be bitter and taunting?” Ming asked with snark in her tone. “How’d you know? Really, I’ve been begging for the past three weeks now, thank you for finally taking that request.” You said faintly and breathlessly as you felt yourself loose consciousness. “Fuh...Fuck you...you…” You whisper as you tried to fight the sleep. ‘Damn, I really failed again huh? This shit sucks.’
Your ears rang as your eyes fluttered open, you heard movement, the earth under you was moving, you felt every vibration, you heard whooshes of fire, and a voice. Bolin? Mako? “...Y/n?! Y/n!” The familiar voice of Bolin called out to you. You coughed and looked around, moving your head. “Bo...lin?” You were weak, your voice showed that. “We have to go.” Mako said as he ran over to you, the entire cave seemed to shake. “If I’m going down, SO ARE YOU!” Ghazan yelled as boulders crashed down. The firebender scooped you up in his arms as he ran, Bolin following close behind. “Don’t drop her!” “I am not going to drop her! She weighs like nothing Bolin!” You laughed softly at their sibling bickering.
“Tha...Thank you...Mako.” You whisper weakly, cupping his cheek. “Y/n save your energy.” Mako said, all big brother like because that’s our beloved mako. You squinted when you got outside. “Y/N?!” Wei’s voice snapped you toward the boy. He rushed over and took you from Mako’s arms. “What...what did they do to you?”
Your legs were covered in burns, gashes, bruises, your collarbone had semi-deep cuts, bruises around your neck, black eye, busted lip, bleeding nose. There wasn’t one place that wasn’t injured. Your hands seemed to be the worst. Your fingertips seemed like they were shaved down, your nails ripped out, and your knuckles bloody and bruised.
“That doesn’t matter…” You whisper, tears running down your cheeks. “You came for me?” Your voice was soft, almost in disbelief. “Y/n, I never stopped looking.” Wei whispered back and took your hand, kissing your bloody knuckles. “Your safe now.” He said calmly as he noticed you shaking and trembling. Six weeks, that’s how long you were there. Finally, you were safe.
✨Epilogue✨
After a year of healing, you were finally able to do everything you did before you were kidnapped. When you were found, you had brain trauma from the constant suffocating and you had some nerve damage. You recovered, not fully but enough to be able to nothing for yourself, you regained your comfortability to bend again! Wei was with you every step of the way. He did his best to help you and honestly? That was enough for you. You had grown closer with his family as well, them being your family too now. I mean, you were obviously going to marry Wei so everyone accepted it.
You fought along side them when Kuvira was being like, a major bitch, and Toph had taken a liking to you! After everything happened, a few years later once Wei and you turned 20 you finally had a wedding. Everyone was so happy, Bolin was your maid of honor because he apparently called dibs. You looked simply beautiful and Wei started crying because after everything, he’s just happy to have you, safe and sound.

AVATAR VILLAINS - Blood//Water
My second edit ever, wanted to try something new, so here it is!
Some stuff to note:
I did this using the free version of CapCut
The music is by grandson, the song is 'Blood//Water'
This edit is about the villains in the avatar franchise, except for Unalaq and Vaatu, because they kind of suck.
Open to constructive criticism, but be nice as I'm only 14, new to editing, and I'm very aware that I messed up the audio as I didn't cut it very precisely as I would have liked.
Enjoy!
Yes, I abuse these tags.

The Myth of Y/N (Korra x Reader) Part 29
THE RED LOTUS
Korra’s POV
Opening my eyes I am greeted by a sight of beautiful trees with ember leaves and the same orange sky that was in the physical world. Spirits roam across the sky in a peaceful process.
The Spirit World.
I have no time to admire the scenery, though. I have a job to do.
Marching to one of the trees, I immediately find my target standing on a nearby hill.
Aiwei.
Before I can even confront him, however, another man appears out of nowhere. I recognise him instantly from my attempted kidnapping back in Zaofu. The grey and black robes and the shining bald head.
Zaheer.
Ducking behind one of the trees, I watch Zaheer walking towards his spy, his steps and stature alone convey his intense anger and frustration.
“What happened back in Zaofu?” He asks the truth seer, his irritation evident. “You told me we wouldn't have any problems getting the Avatar? Because of you, we've all been compromised.”
Surprisingly, despite being able to detect one’s change in heartbeat, Aiwei doesn’t seem to notice Zaheer’s anger. Or maybe he does and is trying to play it cool. Either way, it isn’t working.
“No, any evidence was destroyed when my library burned.”
“Where is your physical body now?”
“At the Misty Palms Inn. But there is no need to worry. I was not followed.”
“You left a loose end.”
The declaration from Zaheer stirs up uneasiness within me. I have an idea what he’s talking about.
Aiwei does not. “I assure you; no one knows anything about us.”
“No, you are the loose end.”
Then, he grabs the truth seer!
NO!
Rushing forward, I yell out “Zaheer!” in an attempt to let him go. The criminal does turn to me, eyes widened in surprise, but a second afterwards they both disappear.
DAMMIT!
Looking around, I try to find any trace of Zaheer or Aiwei or even the tiniest hint of where they went. I get nothing.
Before I can wallow in my disappointment, though, I hear the same sound Zaheer made when he first arrived here.
Turning right around, I see the airbending criminal…alone.
Oh no.
“It seems Aiwei was mistaken.” He states, lips curling in a sadistic smirk. “He was followed.”
“That’s right.” I confirm, not letting his confidence shaken my own. “We knew he'd lead us straight to you. Now, what did you do with him?”
“He’ll be spending an eternity in the Fog of Lost Souls.” He answers with a sense of sick, twisted pleasure of dooming a man to a fate worse than death. “Which just leaves the two of us.”
The smirk that was plastered on Zaheer’s face is gone, replaced with an even more sinister smile.
Clenching my fists, I stare him down.
It’s time to get answers.
Y/N’S POV
I stare at Korra’s seemingly lifeless meditative sitting position in anticipation, all the while tapping my foot against the ground consistently in impatience.
“She’ll be fine, Y/N.” Asami assures me.
I hum in agreement. “I know, I know. Doesn’t make me not worried about her though.”
“Remember, no-one would have their bending in the Spirit World.” Mako explains, staring out the window for surveillance like the true policeman that he is. “Even if Korra was caught, its not like Aiwei or Zaheer can do anything about it. Besides, she can instantly return to her body if something does go wrong.”
The information being repeated to me comforts me somewhat but I can’t help feel the nervousness shaking my bones inside.
Something isn’t feeling right. I know it.
“I know.” I finally respond, still staring at Korra. “But I can’t help but feel like something terrible is about to happen.”
MEANWHILE
NO-ONE’S POV
Far away from Team Avatar, in the secluded rocky cave that was their hideout, three of the Red Lotus wait patiently as Zaheer is in the Spirit World to meet with the idiotic truth seer who butchered their entire operation back at the metal city of Zaofu.
“What’s taking him so long?” Ghazan asks, completely tired with the whole ordeal.
Ming-Hua shrugs. “Maybe Aiwei’s late.”
P’li says nothing. There is nothing to say. Soon the meeting will be over and they will finally discuss what to do next.
Then, as if Zaheer heard them himself, he speaks.
“Avatar Korra. Misty Palms Inn. Find her.”
The three members jump slightly in shock at the revelation that their prime target is so close, only for their surprise to be pushed aside by determination.
Yes. YES!
They have another chance.
A chance they will not let go to waste.
P’li turns to her friends. “You two go. I'll stay here and make sure Zaheer's body is safe.”
Ghazan immediately gets up and begins to leave but before he could Ming-Hua stops him with her water tendril.
“You should go too.” The waterbender tells her, rising to her feet. “Us two against the Avatar’s friends might be a bit of an issue.”
What? This is new.
The combustion bender, slightly startled by her friend’s lack of confidence, raises an eyebrow. “Since when was the last time you ever got scared by our enemies?”
“I’m not scared.” Ming-Hua scowls, offended by the mere idea. “If it was just that firebender and earthbender that won’t be much issue. But if that airbender Zaheer mentioned, Y/N, is there to help them then the numbers will be in their favour. If you come with us, we can easily separate them.”
“She does have a point, P’li.” Ghazan agrees. “Besides, Zaheer seemed interested in that young airbender. This is the perfect opportunity for killing two birds with one stone by capturing the Avatar and Y/N.”
Frowning in deep thought, P’li steals a glace at the back of her beloved.
They do have a point. But Zaheer…
“He’ll be fine.” Ming-Hua tells her gently. “He’s the toughest out of all of us even when he’s meditating.”
With those few words, the decision is made.
They’re right. This is their chance. Their moment.
Rising to her feat, P’li turns back to her friends.
“Let’s go.”
TIME SKIP
Y/N’S POV
The uneasiness has not subsided. The feeling that something bad is about to happen has not subsided. The pounding of my heart has subsided. None of my worries has subsided!
The orange glow from the sunset sky has been vanquished by the darkness that is the night sky. Korra is still in the Spirit World for who knows how long now.
Glancing out of the window, my heart stops entirely.
There, a distance not too far from where we are, are three individuals. The very same individuals we confronted in the metal city.
A man with long unkept jet-black hair with a scruffy beard.
A slim female with water tendrils as arms.
And a tall combustion bender with a tattoo that resembles a artistically drawn eye.
They’re wandering around the small village, not bothering to conceal themselves, and from the looks of it they look like they are ready for a fight.
“Guys, Zaheer’s friends are here!”
Gasps are heard behind me and Mako leans closer to my side and he spots it. “Yeah, they’re here alright!”
“How?” Asami asks, completely bewildered.
“That doesn’t matter.” I tell them, facing the rest of my friends. “We need to get Korra out of here.”
Bolin, the most panicked out of all us, rushes to Korra and begins shaking her frantically. “Come on, Korra! Wake up!”
Korra doesn’t even peak an eye open. Dammit.
Mako, seemingly already have figured out a plan, carefully picks her up and places her on top of Naga. Then, with a determined and calculating look painted across his features, turns to black-haired woman. “Asami, you take Korra and get her out of here. Y/N, Bolin, and I will hold them off.”
“On it.” Asami immediately says, hopping onto the polar bear dog. “Good luck, you three.”
“You too.” I tell her earnestly. “Now go!”
And, just like that, Naga rushes out of the door in a speed that rivals the fastest Satomobile and we follow suit. I hear a feminine exclaim of “The Avatar!” and an explosion. It seems like the combustion bender just barely managed to miss them and just before they can properly pursue them Mako and I throw our attacks of fire and air right into their direction, catching their attention and forcing them to stand back away.
Good. They have our attention on us.
That relief is short lived though as I see the third-eye woman leaning backward and tensing her body up as if she’s ready to attack!
“Watch out!” I yell at them but its cut off with an explosion right in front of my eyes, sending us flying backward in different directions. Pain fills my form and a constant ringing drown out everything else. Glancing upward slightly, I see that the two brothers fared better than I have, most likely because I caught the most of the combustion bender’s attack, and they already seem to be involved in their own little fights. On my right, I see Mako dodging and weaving the ice-turned tendrils of the water-armed lady, and on my left I see Bolin lifting pieces of the earth in front of him to act as shields against the lava that is thrown at him from his attacker.
Wait, where’s the third?!
Looking at right in front of me, I see the combustion bender focusing her attention on the fight between Mako and her friend, a look of strategizing on her face as if waiting for a right moment to land her own attack on him without harming her ally.
No! Get up, dammit! Get up!
Ignoring the searing aching in my back, I rise to my feet and as she begins leaning back to launch another attack, I unleash a poweful air sweeping kick into her direction which knocks her to her feat.
Now that she’s down, I take my chance as I rush forward and twirl in an elegant swoop to launch an air tunnel at her. At the same time, however, the combustion bender recovers just enough to launch another explosion right in front of my attack, sending both of us back a good feat. This time, I manage to stay on my feet as I skid back despite the blast of the explosion and the burning friction between myself and the ground. My opponent does the same.
That was close. Too close.
“I can’t beat this guy!” Bolin shouts admist the chaos. “It’s like I’m giving him ammo! Want to trade?”
Glaring at my own rival, I scoff.
I wish I can trade. She’s too powerful with her constant explosions!
Unless…
Unless I get close enough to chi-block her!
I’ve been so focused on airbending this entire time I completely forgot that I was a chi-blocker first! If I can get to her, I can render her powerless!
Now filled with a new sense of confidence, I give her a wide grin. This was clearly not what she expected, as she raises her eyebrows slightly in surprise only to frown them in a split second later to prevent me from seeing it. She failed miserably.
The carnage around me fades away as I focus on her and her alone.
Let’s do this.
In a blink of an eye, I begin my charge with arms flinging backward for less air resistance and greater speed. Seeing me advancing towards her, she begins launching shorts bursts of explosions my way. With my skills of a master of chi-blocker, I barely manage to scrape by from her attack through leaps and side-steps. Now a few seconds away, she gives up sending explosions and simply shoots out fireballs in my direction to catch me off guard. I anticipate this, however, and I fall to my knees and bend back, letting the flames fly right over my face. Before she can even launch another attack, I slide close enough to land powerful attacks to her pressure points and in a matter of seconds she lands onto the ground. Defeated.
Panting heavily, my heart beating as fast as an engine, my senses return.
I did it. I…I actually defeated her.
Shaking my head, I return to the here and now. No time for relishing my victory, I need to help-
Before I can even finish my own thoughts, a pounding blow on the side knocks me to one of the buildings!
The pain that I managed to resist returns in full-force and the ringing comes back as if nothing had happened.
WHAT?!
Groaning, I squint my eyes open and I see the bearded-man right in front of me, gazing down at me with sadistic pride. The glint in his eyes radiate victory.
Victory?!
Looking behind him, my heart sinks.
Bolin is trapped in a sphre of water by the waterbending friend of his.
No!
Glancing to my right, I see Mako slumped…unconscious.
NO!
The man steps to the side and a water tendrals grabs the centre of my chest and thrusts me right towards Bolin. A second tendril, created from the one that pulled me forward, grabs Mako.
“Go get the Avatar!” Our captor tells the man. “I’ll stay with P’li until she recovers. I have these three under control.”
Nodding, the man rushes off out of sight.
NO!
NO!
NO!
NO!
I begin to raise my arm in a desperate attempt to send an air attack but the pain, the pain is too much!
“Argh.” I grunt out, reeling my right arm back.
“I don’t know why Zaheer is so interested in you but it better be worth it.” The water-armed lady snarls. “No-one hurts one of us and gets away with it.”
I glare right into her rage-filled ocean eyes but don’t say a word.
We lost.
TIME SKIP
Battered and beaten, we are thrown onto the ground in claustrophobic cave.
“The Earth Queen’s army snatched up the Avatar before I could.” The lavabender says, his annoyance prevalent.
When I saw him return to Misty Palms Inn without Korra and Asami, my hopes were lifted. They were crushed almost immediately afterwards when I heard that the Ba Sing Se’s dictator got her greedy hands on them. Still, it’s better than being prisoners of these people.
“But we figured you could find a use for these three.” The waterbender adds with twisted joy.
Slowly but surely, I rise my head and I see him.
Him.
The face I thought was that of a friend. The face I affiliated with Yorru.
The face of Zaheer, his shining emerald eyes staring right into my own.
Without shifting his gaze, he gestures towards the two brothers. “Load these two into the truck and wait there.” He then gestures to me. “I wish to be left alone with this one.”
What?
“Are you sure?” The combustion bender asks him, now fully recovered from my chi-block attack. I can hear the worry and concern in her voice. It seems that, despite me being tied up, she has been slightly shaken up by me being able to defeat her. “That one was tougher and cleverer than we thought. They’re a chi-blocker too.”
I see a flash of surprise in the criminal’s eyes, only to return to normal.
“I’ll be fine.”
The lavabender picks up Bolin and another seize Mako and the head off, leaving Zaheer and I all alone in the dark cave.
Neither of us speak for a moment. Then, he walks behind me. Closing my eyes, I await for what may be certain death or worse.
Instead, I am gently lifted up so I am sitting on my knees.
What?
Then, he walks back to in front of me and sits down cross-legged.
“I hope you weren’t injured too badly.”
I scoff. “Thank you for the concern, Yorru. Or is it Zaheer?”
Against my hopes, the use of his fake name doesn’t make him flinch at all. Instead, he gives me a sympathetic look.
“I apologise for the deception.” He tells me in a tone that appears to be genuine. “But I’m sure you understand why I had to keep my true identity a secret.”
Snorting, I tilt my head to the side. “I understand that you are not the person I thought you were. My initial suspicions about you were right from the start! You-You’re just some evil criminal wanting to hurt my best friend!”
My outburst does nothing. If anything, it makes me come across as a child.
“A highly inaccurate description.” Zaheer calmly retorts. “But I digress, I’m sure you have a lot of questions.”
“As a matter of fact, I do.”
Much to my surprise, he nods. “I will answer whatever questions you have. You deserve the truth after being deceived. What do you wish to know?”
What?!
My mouth goes agape in an “o” shape for a few seconds, making my shock painfully obvious, and then I snap it shut.
After thirteen years of not telling anyone anything he’s just going to answer my questions?! Just like that?!
Is he trying to trick me?
No, he wouldn’t. Why would he?
I guess I have nothing to lose by asking him.
I gaze back into his eyes. “Who are you people?”
Zaheer responds immediately. “We are part of a secret society dedicated to restoring freedom to the world. We are the Red Lotus.”
The Red Lotus? Secret society?!
“Like the White Lotus?” I hesitantly ask him.
He shakes his head profusely. “We are what that corrupt society was supposed to be. They became nothing but obedient bodyguards that served the amoral leaders of the nations. Luckily, a legendary man known as Xai Bau defected from the White Lotus and began his own society.”
My mouth drops yet again.
This…this is crazy. Did-Did anyone know about this?
This entire time there has been a secret society that are rivals to the White Lotus?!
“Okay.” I finally tell him after a short moment of silence. “How does Korra fit into this, though? Why did you try to kidnap her when she was a child?”
For a brief second, Zaheer’s eyes flash with anger, only to disappear like it was a dream. “That was Unalaq’s idea.”
UNALAQ?!
“He was a Red Lotus member too?” I ask him loudly. Before he can respond, I ask another question. “Wait, how come he wasn’t imprisoned too?!”
“He wasn’t with us that night.” He tells me, his anger now slowly returning. “And he covered up his involvement, abandoning me and my friends to a fate of solitude. With us out of the picture, he was able to pursue his selfish desires of becoming a Dark Avatar. That was never our goals”
“And your goals are…” I trail off, prompting Zaheer to finish.
What can his goals be? To conquer the world? No. Four people can’t do that and that won’t explain kidnapping Korra. What could it be then?
“To rid the world of corruption and bring balance to the world.”
His answer freezes me to the bone.
“What?”
“You heard me.” He responds. “The world is full of corrupt leaders running corrupt nations. You had to deal with cruel dictators like the Earth Queen. Don’t you think everyone would be better off if leaders like her would be eliminated?”
I don’t answer right away. I just…stare at him.
He…He wants to rid the world of corruption? People like the Earth Queen?
Images of the dirty, poverty-ridden Lower Ring of Ba Sing Se flashes across my mind as does my own voice.
“This is monstrous! How can the Queen allow this to happen?!”
More echoes fill my mind, voices of my rage towards her.
“I’m not anyone’s servant! I’m a person! Just like those who live in your kingdom, your highness!”
My thoughts of other instances of corruption flash in mind. Like Tarrlok’s and the most of the Republic City Council.
And, much to my shame, thoughts of my rage towards Suyin Beifong come to the forefront of my mind.
“In these past few minutes, you have dismissed his crimes like they’re nothing which is an insult to the people who have been affected! Varrick doesn’t even seem guilty of his actions at all! And you’re encouraging that mindset by giving him fancy robes, delicious meals, free roam of the city, and all the resources that can be used to his desire to invent something that will benefit you. This isn’t for the betterment of Varrick, this is for the betterment of yourself. For your ego!”
“Take some fucking responsibility! It’s clear you have a rat within Zaofu! A rat who is very influential and knows the city inside and out like your guards! Your arrogance nearly costed Korra’s life!”
He wants to eliminate leaders like that?
“I…”I begin, only to stop and start again. “I think they should be removed from power. But they shouldn’t be killed.”
Zaheer’s response to my answer? A smile.
“Interesting. Very interesting.”
Raising my eyebrow in curiosity, I cock my head to the side. “What’s interesting?”
“I asked the same question to Korra when we were in the spirit world.” He explains and his smiles widens. “While similar to yours, she immediately responded with no.”
The revelation throws my mind back to Tenzin’s comments about our hopelessness with the Earth Queen’s corruption…and Korra’s agreement.
“I am frustrated and saddened by this as much as you are. However, we can’t just force the Earth Queen to rule her kingdom the way we want her to. It is not our place.”
“Y/N, I don’t like it as much as you do. But Tenzin’s right.”
I glance downwards, avoiding the man’s gaze. “I’m not surprised. Korra told me there is nothing we can do about it.”
“That is part of the lies of the White Lotus she is spouting.” Zaheer immediately replies with anger. “She can do something about it, but she refuses to. Had our kidnap attempt back at the South Pole succeeded, we would have taught her the truth about the world and how she can really bring balance.”
I scoff. “You’re sugar-coating it. You just wanted to brainwash her to be your slave.”
“No. All I ever wanted was to show Korra a better path for the world. A path you know all too well.”
Huh?
“What are you talking about?”
The sadistic smile that was on Zaheer’s face softens to the point it seems…gentle. “When I first met you, I had my suspicions that you were allies with the Avatar. They were confirmed when we met again in Zaofu. While it was unexpected, I was pleased at our reunion. We seemed to have a lot in common. We both share an interest in the culture of the Air Nomads, we were both non-benders who were granted the power of the bisons, and we share a hatred for corruption. Our common interests are fascinating, don’t you think?”
My eyes widen, brows raised to the top of my forehead, as I realise his hidden message.
“You want me to…to join you?!”
He nods. “Think about it. We share the same desires of ridding the world of corruption. If we join together, we can save the world from the vile leaders who wish to meld it into their own image. It wasn’t too long ago that Fire Lord Sozin nearly wiped out the Air Nation and started the Hundred Year War. With your help, Y/N, we can prevent that from ever happening again.”
My heart stops in its chest.
This isn’t the first time I have been asked by my enemies to join them.
"Join me. Join me and become my right-hand. Together we can finally vanquish the evil and corruption of benders and bring peace to Republic City and the world."
Amon asked me to join him. But my rage of what he did to Korra made his invitation not so enticing.
But Zaheer’s?
As I remember of the corruption I have encountered since first arriving in Republic City, his invitation to join the Red Lotus becomes tempting. Very tempting.
The dragon inside returns.
Join him. Join the Red Lotus. We can save the world from the scum of society!
“I…”
Join him.
Join him.
JOIN HIM.
Wait…
“Will you replace them with more trustworthy leaders should you succeed? And how does kidnapping Korra fit into this?!”
My questions clearly weren’t what Zaheer expected as his expression slightly falters. “There will be no replacements. True freedom can only be achieved when oppressive governments are torn down.”
The dragon is silenced.
“What?!” I yell. “That won’t bring freedom! There will be total anarchy!”
“Exactly.” He simply retorts in nonchalance like it isn’t insanity. “As the wise Guru Laghima, an airbender, once said: “New growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old." This is the only way balance can be restored.”
I…I can’t believe this. He wants to bring chaos!
“You’re insane!” I exclaim, leaning backwards in horror. “Governments are flawed but tearing them down and not replacing them won’t bring balance! It will bring horror! I will not be a part of that!”
My outroar finished, we sit in tense silence. Then, Zaheer closes his eyes and lets out a heavy sigh of disappointment.
“Very well.” He finally says, reopening his eyes with a sternly look. “I knew it was unlikely but for a moment I really thought you would join us. So unfortunate. We could have done great things together.”
He lifts his gaze to the entrance of the cave. “Ghazan! Load Y/N into the truck! We are heading to Ba Sing Se!”
Ba Sing Se?! That’s where Korra and Asami are going!
“Wait!” I yell. “You hadn’t answered my last question. How does Korra fit into all of this?!”
Zaheer’s sinister smile returns. “You’ll find out soon enough.”
NO!
And with a strike at the back of my head, the world is consumed by darkness.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you enjoyed it!
I really wasn't kidding when I said this was a slow-burn! I wanted the conversation to show that while Y/N's interests are similar to that of the Red Lotus', they are currently not at the stage of betraying Korra.
Feedback is appreciated!
See you all in the next chapter!

Ming-Hua stared back at her own reflection in a crystalline puddle tucked in the corner of the back of the cave. The Red Lotus has decided to camp out for the night, since Republic City was still a few days away. Zaheer concluded that it would be best for them to rest on their laurels, even just for a little bit, instead of burning out before they even reached their destination.
Ming-Hua sighed, tilting her face this way and that, trying to find an angle in which she didn’t find herself to look absolutely repulsive. Needless to say, prison had aged her, both physically and mentally. Before being locked up for 13 years, she liked to think of herself as quite pretty by conventional standards, at least her face, that is. Long, silky jet black hair that reached her waist. Slim, but not scrawny. Dark, hooded gray eyes. Good bone structure. Demure, even.
But prison changed that. All of it. Ming-Hua tried not to think about how humiliating it was to slurp up slop from a bucket thrown into her cage like a dog. How the back of her throat was always itchy and dry, yearning for even a droplet of water. How slimy the warden’s hand felt when it lingered over her face for a moment longer than comfort.
But that wasn’t even the worst part. What made Ming-Hua’s stomach twist and turn into an unbearable knot were the guards. No. It was the things they would say. After her face transformed into a sunken version of what it once was, it was as if she became the punching bag for the projection of their worst insecurities. How they spoke about her like she was the ugliest, most pathetic thing in the world.
“Wonder why that hag has no arms..” one of them would spurt out.
“Look at its face! It looks like a skeleton on the verge of death!”
“As if anyone could ever love something that hideous.”
She tried to shake them off. Pretend it didn’t bother her the least bit. But she could only lie to herself so many times.
While lost in her thoughts, Ming-Hua tried her damned best to put up her stupid hair. She tried to fasten it into the half-up bun, her favorite hairstyle, with a thin branch she picked up from their journey earlier. But it was so flimsy that it wouldn’t hold it up no matter how hard she tried.
On the verge of tears, Ming-Hua flung the twig to the side of the cave. Whatever. It didn’t matter anyway. Who could ever want someone as undesirable, as grotesque as her. It’s not like fixing her hair into a bun would magically change anything.
“Don’t look so upset, sweetheart.”
A familiar, deep voice boomed from the mouth of the cave.
Ming-Hua peered over her shoulder out of curiosity only to roll her eyes and cross her water arms over the other.
“What do you want, Ghazan.”
“Always on the defensive,” he commented, stepping closer towards her. “I just saw an old friend in distress and wanted to cheer you up.”
“Yeah, well it’s a little late for that,” Ming-Hua replied, her voice glacial. She was trying so hard to fight back tears but they cascaded down her face as easily as a waterfall. “Just leave me alone.”
“Now why would I ever do that..” Ghazan placed his hands on either of her shoulders, massaging her tense muscles with the most aching gentleness she has ever felt. “You know, you don’t have to be so strong all the time.”
“Whatever,” Ming-Hua shot back, flicking away his hand with one of her tendrils.
“You know, I can always help you a little bit with that,” Ghazan said, gently scratching the top of her head. “If you want.”
“Fine,” Ming-Hua sighed in defeat, handing Ghazan a thin comb. He was always so good at bringing her guard down. “But don’t get your hopes up. I’ve tried everything.”
“So you underestimate my skill,” Ghazan smirked, taking the comb.
“No, I’m just being realistic,” she replied, easily combatting his witty remark. “It’s not like you are exactly the world’s greatest hair stylist.”
“Well, prepare to be surprised,” he said, carefully brushing through her long, inky hair. Ming-Hua tensed up at first, but relaxed momentarily. His ginger touch caught her a bit off guard. She half expected him to just yank it all back so hard he would rip off some hair. But there was a lightness to the way he moved. An ease.
Ghazan worked quite efficiently, gathering her smooth locks into his hands. He expertly sectioned off her hair into top and bottom halves.
“What are you doing-?” Ming-Hua asked, turning around, almost causing the sections to slip out of Ghazan’s hands.
He pulled her hair back firmly but not forcefully. “Stay still.”
She listened. Even Ming-Hua knew not to test his patience. Although Ghazan was very laid-back, when he was focused on getting something done, she knew not to get in his way.
Ghazan continued his skilled handiwork, twisting a piece of the top section into a bun. He quickly earthbended some nearby pebbles into two perfect stone hairpins.
He placed them between his lips while working diligently to fashion the bun into the perfect shape. When he was satisfied, he quickly slipped them into the bun to secure it properly.
Now, Ming-Hua would never admit this, but she was surprised. In fact, that would be putting it lightly. She always thought of Ghazan as a meathead earthbender who only knew how to smash boulders and bring down mountains with his lava. So watching him craft together a delicate hairstyle was not something she would have predicted to come from him at all.
“Are you almost done?” she muttered impatiently, raising an eyebrow.
“Now, now,” he said. “You can’t rush art.”
Ming-Hua rolled her eyes so far up into her head. But she also couldn’t help but crack a smile. And she caught herself. It was probably the first time she had genuinely smiled in years.
Ghazan was just adding the finishing touch by taking a lock of hair adjacent to the bun and braiding it. He then proceeded to wrap the new braid around the bun, encircling it around like a crown. He finally took the last stone hairpin between his lips and secured the braid to the bun. “There. All done.”
Ming-Hua hesitated for a moment before freezing the end of her water arm to form an ice mirror. She looked into her reflection skeptically, tilting her face from one angle to another. She contemplated. And Ghazan waited patiently.
She was needless to say, shocked. For the first time in a long time, she actually felt and looked pretty. She appreciated how Ghazan knew her favorite hairstyle like the back of his hand. How she preferred to have a few strands of hair dangle over the side of her face. And how she liked to use two hairpins, not just one. The braid was a bit out of the ordinary, but she thought it was a nice touch.
“It will do for now, I guess,” she murmured softly.
“You are welcome, by the way,” Ghazan smirked, dusting his hands and standing up.
“Th-thank you,” Ming-Hua sputtered out. “For doing that for me. You didn’t have to.”
“Yeah, yeah,” he said. He knew she was always so prideful, so even mustering that sentence was a lot for her. “Now let’s go get some grub. I’m starving.”
Ming-Hua hoisted herself up and followed behind him out the cave without another word. Now, she would never admit this to him, even if she were held at gunpoint. But something about Ghazan’s presence always brought her a level of comfort.
