Chika parallels Hatohara this and that, but what about the Osamu Ninomiya paralells. You made a promise that you'd get the squad on the away mission for her sake, and work hard to make for the fact that she can't/won't shoot. It doesn't bother you. She works hard and is plenty talented even without it, but no one else recognizes that. You'll do whatever it takes to make it for her sake, even throwing away your pride and bowing your head. You promise her that you'll make it happen, because you are the captain and this is your team.

She leaves before you can make good on your promise, because she didn't believe in you. She instead puts her faith in a bunch of strangers, and leaves you all behind.

And Tamakoma-2 succeeds.

Does it hurt knowing they succeeded where you were never given the chance to, Ninomiya? Does it hurt that Chika trusts Osamu in a way that Hatohara didn't trust you?

Why do people want Dan Heng to be Dan Feng. Like actually, where does this come from.

The molting rebirth is literally a person going in an egg, incubating for a while and basically de-aging and coming out as another person.

And if you want to bring up the whole thing of Dan Heng’s molting rebirth being all wonky that still doesn’t take away from the fact that that’s a whole different person.

It’s the whole thing with amnesia plot lines all over again. It’s the persons choice of what they want to do, if they can’t or don’t want to be the person they were before they don’t have to be. Yes others might get sad, but that’s a person with autonomy and shit.

From what I’ve seen and remember from HSR canon, vidyadhara regard reincarnations as new people and the old incarnation/version as having died. Literally just listening to how Bailu reacts to learning that the-nice-lady reincarnated is enough to get this. And yes, some leave instructions for their next reincarnations like taking care of certain things or getting to know people. But that isn’t the same as being the same goddamn person.

And doesn’t the fact that Dan Feng got forced to do a molting rebirth basically mean that he was executed for the (frankly confusing) crimes he did?

I just, for some reason it annoys me when I see it: it feels like you’re reducing Dan Heng to just being Dan Feng with amnesia and not a whole different person with different life experiences and a whole ass found family.

They discuss the other missions, but they don't have the information we have... yet.

This map is extremely interesting to me, because the place called Redhill (one of the circled names) has an area called Earlswood, and I'm wondering if that's where they say Phantomhive Manor is located. Or is the manor closer to Reading, where there's an area called Earley? 🤔 😆 And then Brighton (also circled) is where they are headed. I'll post more about this later.

It looks like the above part is about Baldo taking a ship from America to England, soon after Sebastian visited him to enlist him.

Then something below, about Lau.

Then about the blood transfusion technology they saw in Bath... and Othello's interest in it. Then Sphere Music Hall and Karnstein Hospital.

Then the team of Baldo and Lau...

...and team of Mey-Rin and Ran-Mao.

Something about how clumsy Mey-Rin is at being a maid, but she's still the skilled sniper they hired, when she was sent there to assassinate the earl.

i don’t hate the crossroads flashbacks we got (they’re woefully underbaked but they gave me felassan cameos. i can forgive a lot for a felassan cameo) i really just wish there had been more.

i understand not everyone is here for the arlathan lore but given that the major antagonists for 4/5 of the game are elgar’nan and ghilan’nain?? they absolutely should’ve made the rebellion against the evanuris a bigger part of the game!

there’s so much to play with there to actually pull off the rook-solas parallels that they wanted to achieve if you set up the crossroads flashbacks in a way that echoes the missions rook & their team are facing in the present. infiltrating one of the evanuris’ ceremonies (arlathan forest) for example, or defending an outpost that has been discovered by the evanuris (weisshaupt).

it would’ve given them a chance to flesh out elgar’nan & ghilan’nain’s characters as well as introduce us to more of the rebellion. it would also have given the new cast an actual basis to form opinions on solas, prior to the “castling” moment.
