20 SEO Mistakes To Avoid In 2024
Tumblr media
Introduction In the rapidly evolving field of digital marketing, search engine optimization, or SEO, continues to be essential for success online. Nonetheless, the field of SEO is always evolving due to changes in user behaviour and algorithmic changes. It's critical to keep up with the newest trends and steer clear of typical traps if you want to guarantee that your website stays visible and competitive.
In this post, we'll look at 20 SEO blunders to avoid in 2024 to help you move deftly through the always-shifting digital landscape.
20 Mistakes You Should Avoid In SEO For Best Results
Ignoring Mobile Optimization:
In 2024, mobile optimization will no longer be a luxury; it will be essential. Since mobile devices are used by the majority of internet users to access content, not optimizing your website for mobile devices might result in lower visibility and lower user engagement.
Ignoring Page Speed:
Slow-loading pages can have a big effect on your site's SEO success in a world where speed is everything. Consumers demand immediate satisfaction, and search engines give preference to websites that load quickly. To improve page speed, make sure to minimize HTTP queries, take advantage of browser caching, and optimize images.
Ignoring Voice Search Optimization:
It is now mandatory to optimize your content for voice search due to the popularity of voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, and Google Assistant. Take into account long-tail keywords and natural language searches to match user speech patterns when conducting voice searches.
Ignoring HTTPS Migration:
In today's digital world, security is crucial, and Google favours secure websites. Making the switch to HTTPS improves your site's trustworthiness and security in the eyes of search engines and users alike.
Ignoring Local SEO:
Ignoring local SEO can be an expensive error for companies that cater to local customers. To increase exposure in local search results, make sure your business listings are correct and consistent across online directories and make use of local keywords.
Failing to Optimize for Featured Snippets:
Search engine results pages (SERPs) now prominently display featured snippets, which give users instant answers to their questions. To increase your chances of getting included in snippets, organize your material to provide succinct answers to frequently asked questions.
Excessive Anchor Text Optimization:
Although anchor text optimization is crucial for search engine optimization, excessive optimization may raise red flags with search engines. To avoid fines, keep the diversity of your anchor text in a natural balance by using synonyms and variations.
Ignoring User Experience (UX):
UX affects metrics like click-through rate, dwell duration, and bounce rate, and it is a major factor in SEO. To increase UX and SEO performance, give priority to responsive design, appealing content, and easy-to-navigate pages.
Underestimating the Power of Internal Linking:
Internal linking improves search engine optimization by dispersing link equity throughout your pages and assisting users in navigating your website. Include pertinent internal links in your text to improve crawlability and create a logical hierarchy.
Ignore Structured Data Markup:
Rich snippets and improved SERP displays are made possible by structured data markup, which gives search engines context about your material. Use structured data markup to increase search engine visibility and click-through rate.
Ignoring Image Optimization:
Images are more than simply decorative components; alt text, file names, and image sitemaps all help with SEO. To increase accessibility and SEO, optimize photos for size and relevancy and provide a description to the alt text.
Neglecting Content Quality:
In an era of abundant content, quality is paramount. The SEO performance of your website may be harmed by thin, pointless, or duplicate content. Concentrate on producing valuable, high-quality content that speaks to and meets the demands of your target audience.
Ignoring Social Signals:
Social media can affect search visibility indirectly by raising brand awareness, engagement, and traffic, even though its direct impact on SEO is up for discussion. Sustain a consistent presence on pertinent social media channels to increase the visibility of your material.
Ignoring technical SEO:
Technical SEO, which includes aspects like crawlability, indexing, and site structure, lays the groundwork for your site's overall performance. Perform routine audits to find and fix technical problems that could limit the SEO potential of your website.
Keyword Stuffing:
The overuse of keywords, often known as keyword stuffing, is a holdover from antiquated search engine optimization techniques and can now lead to search engine penalties. To keep your content relevant and readable, instead concentrate on naturally occurring keyword integration.
Ignoring Video Optimization:
Videos are taking over search results and provide a captivating way for users to consume material. To increase your videos' exposure in standard and video search results, make sure they have clear names, descriptions, and transcripts.
Ignoring Backlink Quality:
In today's SEO environment, quality is more important than quantity even if backlinks are still a crucial ranking component. Make getting backlinks from reputable, relevant sources your top priority, and avoid deceptive link-building strategies that can damage the reputation of your website.
Ignoring Local Citations:
In local search engine optimization, local citations—that is, references to your company's name, address, and phone number (NAP)—are quite important. Make sure that your NAP information is the same on all websites, social media pages, and review sites.
Ignoring SEO Analytics:
An effective SEO strategy requires data-driven decision-making. Track your progress and find optimization possibilities by keeping an eye on key performance indicators (KPIs), including organic traffic, keyword rankings, and conversion rates, on a regular basis.
Failing to Adjust to Algorithm Changes:
Algorithms used by search engines are always changing, so what works now might not work tomorrow. Keep up with algorithm changes and modify your SEO plan as necessary to keep your website visible and relevant in search results.
Conclusion
Success in the ever-changing world of SEO depends on avoiding frequent errors and keeping up with current trends. You can position your website for increased visibility, traffic, and eventually business growth by avoiding these 20 SEO blunders in 2024.

All your friends knew you had a soft spot for Jeongin, even his own sister knew. You didn’t exactly know what it was in him that made it impossible for you to let him go, but your attraction was undeniable. At first, it was truly innocent - you just invited him sometimes to hang out for a while with you and your friends because the poor boy would often spend his weekends alone, and it wasn’t that bad to take him away from his games so he could share a drink or two with you before you left for the club.
“- Your turn Jeongin, truth or dare ?
- Uh, I don’t know, truth ?”
The poor boy was always a little awkward when he didn’t have his first drink, but once he had loosened up, it was easier to have him admit some things and he actually enjoyed these little hangouts. You were getting ready with his sister and one of your other friends, sitting in the living room with bottles of alcohol and juice opened and ready to make a new drink at any moment. As you focused on doing both wings of your eyeliner the same way, your friend asked her a question.
“- When was the last time you had sex ?
- Ew, I don’t want to know that ! He’s my brother.
- Come on, you’re not fun ! Go away then, I wanna know. And I’m sure Y/N wants to know too.”
You rolled your eyes at her, and you avoided everyone else's gaze as focused on your own face reflecting through the mirror of your eyeshadow palette as you put the finishing touches to your makeup. The slight buzz of alcohol was already getting to you, and you didn’t feel as embarrassed as you would have normally been. But you could still sense Jeongin’s eyes on you, as if he was trying to understand what your friend meant. His sister covered her ears with her hands while he answered.
“- Well, I- I’ve never had sex, actually so…
- What ? You’re still a virgin ? No way.
- This is too much !”
Your best friend left the room to go get dressed, but you couldn’t believe what you had just heard either. You had always assumed that he must’ve had at least one or two girlfriends, but you weren't expecting this. Jeongin’s cheeks had taken a deep shade of red - which was cute, you had to admit - as he shrugged, trying to keep some kind of composure and acting nonchalant while he took another sip of his drink.
“- I don’t understand why it is so shocking.
- Well, look at yourself in a mirror. You might be my friend’s brother but I know a fine man when I see one. Right, Y/N ?
- Uh, yeah, she’s right.”
Your gaze lingered on Jeongin longer than it should have, but it seemed like he couldn’t detach his gaze from you either. You stayed looking at each other for a few seconds, before you broke eye contact with him. The way your heart was beating in your chest, and the way some kind of well-known heat was rising through your body definitely wasn’t something you should be feeling for your best friend’s brother. Soon enough, the subject switched to something else, and you were left alone with your thoughts and the feeling that Jeongin eyes couldn’t leave your figure as you picked up your things to put them in your purse before heading out. Everytime you would look back his way, he would simply avoid your gaze and focus on his phone screen or his drink instead, pretending that he wasn’t devouring you with his eyes a few seconds ago.
At least, your clubbing session did make you feel good, the alcohol helping you relax and the loud music pushing every parasite's thoughts out of your mind for a moment. By the time you went back to your best friend’s apartment, it was already way past 5 in the morning. Your two friends went to crash in bed immediately, giggling and loudly talking nonsense. The sound of the door of her bedroom closing shut behind them drowned out their laughs as you smiled to yourself while getting out of your high-heeled boots. You could still feel the agreable rush of all the drinks you had but you were conscious enough to think about drinking a glass of water before going to bed too. As you were about to head to the bathroom to take off your makeup, you almost ran into Jeongin who was walking out of his own room, looking like he hadn’t slept at all. You giggled as you steadied yourself by grabbing his shoulders.
“- Oops ! Sorry, didn’t see you !”
Jeongin's right arm slid down to your waist to keep you straight up. Truthfully, you didn’t really need it to stand on your feet, you were not that drunk. But you let his hand rest against the naked skin of the small of your back that your crop top revealed, his own warm skin heating up your hot one even more and making another sort of warmth run through your veins.
“- It’s okay. Are you alright ? Did you have fun ?”
You nodded with a big smile stretching out your face to both questions, missing the way Jeongin’s eyes went down to your cleavage and then back up to your face every two seconds. He was trying so hard to not seem like a pervert, but the way you were allowing him to be so close to you, to touch you in a way that was way too intimate, that was driving him crazy.
“- So much fun ! But I don’t understand how you can still be a virgin…”
The sudden change of subject caught him out of guard, and his cheeks took that same shade of red once more, and again, you couldn’t help but think that he was really cute when he was embarrassed like that. Would he have that same look on his face if you dropped down to your knees and sucked him off, right now ? Would he look at you the same way if you told him everything he had you fantasizing about ?
“- I- I don’t know, it’s just how things are ? Girls aren’t really interested in losers like me you know…”
You frowned as you considered his words. A loser ? Jeongin ? Sure, he spent a lot of time playing video games. But he also spent a good amount of time at the gym, and if only he showed off his biceps a little more, there would be tons of girls at his feet, begging for a chance to go on a date with him. Because he already had a cute face, and a cute smile, and pretty hands, and…
“- Well, they should really start to get interested in losers like you. Because I am.
- W-What do you mean ?
- I mean that you’re handsome Innie. Can’t you see that ? If it wasn’t for your sister, I would’ve made a move on you a long time ago.”
With each step you took closer to him, Jeongin took a step back, until his back hit the wall of the hallway behind him. His blush was even more visible now, and despite the pure shock in his eyes, there was also an underlying lust, a contained desire that you couldn’t wait to unleash.
“- Y/N, I…
- What ? Don’t you think I’m pretty too ? Don’t you want me Innie ?”
The poor boy gulped down loudly as he tried to not let the bulge slowly forming underneath his clothes become too noticeable. He didn’t really understand what was happening, if this was all a dream or not, but he wasn’t going to miss his chance in either case.
“- Fuck… I’ve wanted you since she introduced you to me.”
A smirk spread on your lips as you took one step forward again, your chest now pressed against his, making it impossible for him to escape - even though he didn’t want to - and also making it impossible to not look down at your boobs squished together in your ridiculously tiny top.
“- Then stop thinking. Let me show you how good it feels.
- Please…”
This was the last word Jeongin managed to get out before you took a hold of his jaw and pulled him down to your lips to kiss him. His reaction was immediate, almost like it was a reflex : he took a hold of your waist, pressing your bodies together and his lips moved against yours hungrily, expressing all his frustration, all the longing through this kiss. You hummed against his mouth when one of his hands slid back up to angle your face differently, taking advantage of your appreciative noise to slip his tongue through your lips. You welcomed it gratefully, now fully making out with him in the middle of the hallway, his sister sleeping only a room away. When Jeongin finally let you go, you were both breathless, and the heat you felt had increased by ten.
“- Are you sure you’re still a virgin ? Because you’re a great kisser…”
He rolled his eyes at your question, annoyance written all over his face. You let out a yelp of surprise as he suddenly pushed you to his room. He didn’t have to do much effort to make you stumble back until you were sitting on his bed, proving once more that he was hiding a lot of muscles under his oversized pants and hoodies.
“- Just because I never had sex doesn’t mean I never kissed anyone.”
You leaned on your elbows, exposing your curves to him as you tilted your head to the side, a smirk taking over your face. You loved how easy it was for him to switch up from his awkward and shy demeanor to someone a lot more confident - and you liked it either way.
“- How far did you go then ?”
As you toyed with the hem of your black miniskirt, you saw his cheeks taking that shade of red again. Though, he couldn’t detach his eyes from the way you were slowly pushing the material higher and higher up your thighs, revealing more and more skin to his hungry gaze.
“- I just… Kissed. And did a little foreplay.
- No need to be embarrassed, baby. We have all been there once.”
Jeongin gulped down again as he nodded, still watching intently as you left your skirt alone to go up to your chest, your hands cupping them over the material of your top. You let out a sigh of relief at the action, looking up at him as he was still standing up in front of you, the boner in his sweatpants now more than obvious.
“- Did you do this ?”
Again, Jeongin nodded, eyes glued to the way you were squishing your tits together and hitching to do it himself, to feel the plushness of your skin under his hands by himself. You seductively smiled at him as you let one of your hands slide down in between your thighs, pressing your fingers against your clothed clit and letting out a satisfied hum.
“- And this ?”
This time, Jeongin shook his head. He was too entranced by the show you were putting on for him to be able to form sentences or even think about words anymore. If this was a dream, he never wanted to wake up.
“- Want me to touch you ?
- Fuck… Yes, please…”
You smiled at him in a much softer way as you patted the spot beside you on his bed, inviting him to come sit with you. Even if you just wanted to jump him, you wanted every step of the way to be enjoyable for him, show him how good sex felt. Jeongin obeyed right away, and you immediately straddled him. His hands instinctively went to hold your waist and looked up at you, waiting for your next command.
“- Tell me if you want me to stop, tell me if it’s too much, yeah ?
- Yes.”
The way the words left his mouth so quickly made you smile again and you wrapped your arms around his neck to pull him into another heated kiss. The buzz of alcohol heightened every one of your senses, and the way you had craved this for a while paired with the way Jeongin was so eager to please you quickly made you sigh in pleasure against his lips. Jeongin drank every little sound you made, relishing in the way he seemed to be able to have such an effect on you. The kiss was slow, but intense and passionate, and he didn’t hesitate to deepen it when he felt like he needed more. And you let him find his own rhythm, let him set the pace.
“- You really are good at kissing Innie…
- Really ?
- Hm… With a little practice, you could become the best.”
What you implied didn’t go on a deaf ears and Jeongin shivered at the thought of this becoming a regular occurrence. He wanted that. He wanted it so bad. And his unfocused eyes were telling you everything you needed to know as he pulled you in for another long kiss. You experimentally moved against him, your still clothed cunt rubbing against his boner - to test his reaction - and a pleased whimper slipped past his lips, getting swallowed by your hungry mouth.
As you started to slowly rock your hips against him, he strengthened his grip on your waist. His breath was getting shorter and you could feel his sanity slipping away. It was almost cute how sensitive he was, but mostly, it only increased your own desire to show him how good it felt to be touched by someone else, to touch someone else.
“- Does that feel good ?
- Yes… Really good.
- You can touch me, Innie.”
Jeongin nodded, but you could see that he was still hesitant to move his hands away from the secured spot of your waist. You smiled at him as you took one of his hands in yours, slowly moving it up to your chest and letting it rest here without breaking eye contact even once. You could see the way his breathing hitched in his throat and you could see the way he was now unable to detach his gaze from your cleavage. He tentatively squeezed your tit, and you encouraged him with your hums of pleasure, a different kind of thrill rushing through your veins as Jeongin got more and more confident.
Within two minutes of touching your boobs, he was shamelessly groping them over your top, his head buried in your neck, sucking hickeys on your skin without a care in the world for the marks it was going to leave. Your dry humping had intensified, way too turned on by the way he now seemed unable to stop having his hands on you. But you were feeling that urge to discover his body too, to know what he was truly hiding under all of his oversized clothes. So you gently pushed him away, biting your lips at the way he seemed so clueless, so gone, only wanting to bury his face in between your tits again.
“- Was it not good ?”
A soft smile took over your face as you leaned down to kiss his pouty lips. It was really cute how he almost forgot about his own raging erection because he wanted to please you, to make you feel good too.
“- It was really good, Innie. I just want to touch you too, if that’s okay ?”
Jeongin nodded again, his brain still having trouble processing the whole situation as you pushed his shirt over his head, leaving his upper body exposed. His cheeks went red again as he saw you detail his chest, arms and abs. You said nothing for a few seconds, letting your eyes devour him first, and then running your hand along the toned muscles of his chest, down to his defined abs that tensed under the feather like touch.
“- You’re so sexy… So handsome, I knew you were but damn…”
The compliment made him awkwardly chuckle, not really used to show off his body. He was working hard on it, that was true, but since he didn’t have someone to expose it to, he wasn’t hearing these types of praises everyday. And especially not from you, the girl he had a crush on and an insatiable lust for.
“- Don’t be so shy, baby… You should get used to that.”
And again, your words had an underlying tone that let him think that it could happen again. But he didn’t want to get his hopes up, so he just let you do your thing as you explored the skin of his torso with your hands and the skin of his neck with your lips. And your overwhelming presence soon made him forget about everything that wasn’t what was happening in that moment anyway. Jeongin closed his eyes, not trying to hold back the small moans escaping him and letting you mark his body in hickeys too. By the time your hands reached the waistband of his sweats, he was already breathless and so hard it was starting to be painful.
“- Is it still okay ?”
Your sugary sweet voice paired with the way you were playing with the hem of his clothes made him nod faster than he ever had. You chuckled under your breath as you let your fingers slip under his pants until you could reach his very hard cock. The first contact with your fingers had Jeongin moaning a little louder and his whole body tensing. And when you wrapped your whole hand around his length, slowly starting to jerk him off, he was definitely gone, definitely ready to drop everything to have you do this again and again.
“- You’re doing so good for me Innie…”
A small, muffled moan answered your praises and you just smiled back at him as you sped up your rhythm a little bit. Any trace of alcohol in your system had definitely disappeared by now, your focus only on Jeongin and the way he reacted to your touch, the delicious sounds he was making and how good he looked when he was feeling good like that.
“- Y/N… Let me touch you too, let me make you feel good too… Please…”
He was almost begging to have a glimpse of your pussy, and who were you to deny him. You pecked his lips in approval as you got off the bed to get rid of your underwear, keeping your skirt that was too complicated to get out of right now. You settled back over his thighs, grabbing his hand in yours and pushing his fingers in your mouth to coat them in your saliva. This was partly for lubrication, and partly because you had been dreaming about these hands for far too long to not do it now that you had the chance too. And Jeongin was just looking up at you as if you hung up the stars in the sky, as if you were a goddess, and you liked the confidence boost maybe a little too much.
“- Let me guide you baby, yeah ?”
He nodded along again, letting you push his hands down from your lips to between your legs. He gulped as you pressed the pads of his fingers against your wetness, feeling what he assumed was the clit by the way you sighed in relief as you rubbed his hand against it.
“- Just this much pressure is good for me, but some girls like it faster or slower, you have to ask.”
Jeongin listened to you,  but he didn’t dare tell you that he didn’t plan to use this knowledge with anyone other than you. The only things he wanted to learn about were how to perfectly please you, how to make you cum and want more, how to make you come back to him. So he made sure to perfectly follow your rhythm, not flattering when you let him move on his own and started to jerk him off again, this time pulling his cock out of his sweats. Suddenly, you wanted to go down on your knees and take him into your mouth because he did have a very pretty dick - and it wasn’t a compliment you threw around this easily.
“- Are you feeling good ? Am I doing good ?
- Yes, you’re doing really good Innie… Wanna make me feel even better ?
- Yeah…”
His immediate and eager response despite the fact that he was obviously starting to leak precum all over himself made you smile again. You loved how curious he was, how willing to discover and to let you teach him everything he needed to know he was. You grabbed his hand again, halting the cautious circles he was drawing on your clit to push his fingers lower, having them barely grazing against your more than wet entrance. You both gasped at the sensation, and your back arched slightly when Jeongin took it up himself to push one of his fingers inside, just enough for you to feel it.
“- Is it okay ? Can I… Can I do this ?
- Hm, yes… Feels good, don’t stop.”
His brows were furrowed in concentration as he made sure to be careful when he fully pushed his middle finger inside of you. The way you were clenching down around him made him wonder about how good it would feel to have you wrapped around his cock instead and he throbbed in your hand that was still moving slowly around his dick, reminding him of his own arousal. You encouraged him to continue what he was doing with your endless praises, and soon enough, he was confident enough to push another one of his fingers inside of you, mesmerized by the way you were reacting - mouth opening and letting out a moan, squeezing him in your hand and your hips grinding against his palm as if it was a second nature.
“- Does it feel good ?
- It does, Innie. Stop worrying about me, yeah ? You’re being such a good boy…”
Jeongin was always the first to laugh in his friend’s face for being wrapped around their girlfriend’s fingers but he realized in that moment that he was about to become way worse than them. He whined and chased your lips, all of the pleasure rushing into his veins starting to get way too much for him to stay quiet. The way you chuckled before grabbing his jaw and bringing your lips down on his for a hungry, messy kiss had him whimpering even louder. You made him weak, and he loved it so much.
Noticing how sensitive and squirmy he had become, you sped up your movements around his cock. The thrusts of his fingers inside of you were regular, almost too slow, but it was so different from what you were used to, almost like a calculated rhythm that was starting to get to you and get you wanting more of it. And it didn’t help that his fingers were so long, and that they were making you feel so full, you just had to grind against his palm to get a bit of friction on your clit.
You were so entranced by the kiss that you barely noticed it when Jeongin’s body started to shake. It was only when you felt a hot spurt of cum landing on your hand that you noticed he was indeed cumming, a strangled moan escaping him as you kept up your rhythm. The way he seemed just as surprised as you was arguably very cute, and you kept stroking him slowly and kissing his lips until he tried to get away from your touch.
“- I-I’m sorry, I didn’t… I didn’t feel it coming…”
His embarrassment was coming back full force, and you were really, really starting to get addicted to how adorable he looked with his red cheeks and shifty eyes. You wiped your hand against your thigh, not caring too much for his cum before you grabbed his face, smiling at him while you tried to ignore the fact that his fingers were still stuffed inside of you even if he wasn’t moving them anymore.
“- Did it feel good ?”
Jeongin nodded and your smile only widened.
“- Then never be embarrassed about having a good time baby.
- But what about you ? You didn’t cum, did you ?”
You chuckled as you shook your head, placing another kiss on his pursed lips. You were thoroughly fucked. You knew you shouldn’t have started this at all, but now that you were here, you didn’t want to leave anymore.
“- No, but it’s okay. I enjoyed watching you.”
There was a look of disappointment on Jeongin’s face as he looked up at you. He stayed quiet for a few seconds, as if he was trying to think about what he was going to do next, and before you knew it, he had you pinned underneath him, his larger frame hovering over you as his eyes were glued to your exposed cunt. Your squeal of surprise at his unexpected move made him look up at your eyes that were now pleading you.
“- Please, teach me how to make you cum. I wanna make you feel good too. I wanna… I wanna eat you out. Teach me.”
And how could you say no when he was so eager to learn, so eager to please you, so pliant when you pushed his head in between your thighs ? And from the way he was hungrily lapping at your folds, you were assured that your “teaching” wouldn’t stop there.

Hi Nova!!! I love your works and this is my first request, so please excuse me if I make a mistake. Can I request a Gwayne Hightower x Targaryen reader? Reader is the twin of the deceased baby Baelon and has a strange personality (a mix between Helaena and Ellen Hutter from Nosferatu 2024). She can see and talk to ghosts, which makes her seem a little crazy and dark, and while she didn't agree to marry him at first, she now loves her husband (her sweet sunshine) and her baby girl. She loves all her siblings but wants to avoid conflict, though this goes out the window when her dragon, Greyghost, is eaten. Thank you so much!!!!

The early afternoon sun was pale and silken as it filtered through the gauzy drapes of your solar, falling in shifting patterns across the cradle beside you. Your daughter lay nestled within it, wrapped in a swaddle the color of river pearls, her tiny hands curling with dream-slow movements. You watched her with an aching softness, your fingers tracing idle circles on the carved armrest of your chair. The warm scent of milk and lavender clung to the air, mingling with the fainter, sharper tang of the herbs Maester Orwel had hung about the chamber to protect the child from sickness.
“Lady Y/N?” came a cautious voice—soft, respectful. You turned your head slowly, your gaze dragging over the trio of handmaidens standing nearby. The eldest of them, Talia, offered a small smile as she lifted a folded blanket from the basket at her feet. “Shall I warm the cloth for the babe’s bath? Or would you like to hold her now?”
You blinked once, eyes pale as moon-glass. “She is warm enough,” you said, your voice no louder than a hum. “But I will hold her… yes. I should hold her.”
The youngest maid, Meera, moved quickly to lift the baby into your arms. You accepted her with unnatural stillness, cradling the infant girl against your chest. Her breath tickled against your collarbone, and the small weight of her grounded you in a way few things could. You looked down at her and whispered, “Aelora. Sweet Aelora. Are you dreaming of the sea again? Or was it fire this time?”
The servants exchanged glances. You could feel them, always watching, always wondering what it was you meant. You smiled faintly, brushing a silken wisp of silver-blonde hair from Aelora’s brow. She had Gwayne’s eyes, not yours—an ocean’s clarity, not the violet storm and ash of Valyria. She would not see the things you did. That was good. That was mercy.
“Fetch the warmer milk,” you murmured, not looking at them. “She does not like it cold.”
Talia nodded and left with a rustle of skirts. Meera lingered, her hands folded neatly, but her gaze was drawn to the far side of the room—to the empty chair opposite yours. Empty for her, but not for you.
She sat there as she always did, as if she had never died at all. Your mother. Queen Aemma.
Her face was not as you remembered it in life—there was something distant in her expression, as though she looked through you rather than at you. Her hair, loosed from its coronet braids, fell in soft waves over her shoulders, and her hands were folded neatly in her lap, unmarred by the blood that had once stained them. She tilted her head slowly, as if listening to something in the walls.
You shifted Aelora closer, instinctively shielding her. “She’s not yours,” you said quietly, and Meera started, unsure if the words were for her. “She’s mine. I survived, Mother. Baelon did not.”
Aemma’s lips moved. A whisper only you could hear.
“Do you?” you asked softly, eyes never leaving the ghost. “Do you think I should have followed him? I was born two hours after the blood took you. Grand Maester Mellos said I shouldn’t have lived. But I did. And I married a Hightower.”
There was a sound then—a strange, low murmur like the hush of wind under a door. Aemma’s form flickered slightly, as though touched by it. Her expression turned, just for a moment, to something like sorrow. You could not look away.
“She does not belong to the dead,” you said, voice tightening. “You must leave her be.”
“My lady?” Meera’s voice pierced the quiet, nervous and light. “Shall I… shall I take the babe now? To walk her about the room?”
You blinked. The chair across from you was empty again.
“No,” you murmured, holding Aelora a little tighter. “She sleeps well here. Let her dream beside me.”
The door creaked faintly as Talia returned, carrying the warmed milk with careful hands. “Ser Gwayne will be returning from the training yard soon,” she said as she set the cup down on the side table. “Shall I let him know you’re in here?”
“Yes,” you said after a pause. “He should come. He always brings the light with him, even if he smells like sweat and steel.”
The maids smiled at that, relieved at the touch of warmth in your tone. They did not know what you’d seen. They did not see the way your eyes lingered on the empty spaces of the room. But they whispered about it in the halls, about how you sometimes spoke to the dead, how your smile curved like a crescent moon one moment and vanished the next. Strange. Fae-born, they said. Witchblood.
You paid them no mind. You were a mother now. And even the dead had no place in your child’s crib.
“Would you like music?” Meera asked carefully, already reaching for the harp.
You looked at her and smiled. “Play something old. Something no one remembers. That’s what the ghosts like best.”

The sky outside had dimmed to a sickly blue-gray when he came to you a week later. The wind had been restless all morning, whispering against the towers of the old keep and flinging salt from the sea up against the windows. The torches in the corridor outside your chambers sputtered as he passed, his boots quick over the stone, his heart thundering too loud in his chest. Gwayne never rushed—he was not a man of sudden movements or raised voices—but today, he moved with the urgency of someone carrying a blade not yet drawn. His cloak was wet from the spray, his cheeks windbitten, but he did not stop to shed either as he shoved open the doors to your solar.
He halted at the threshold, chest rising and falling.
You did not turn. You were kneeling before the hearth, your body curved low over something in your lap—at first he thought it was Aelora, and his heart stopped in panic, but then he saw the child’s cradle near the window, empty but undisturbed. It was you who shook, shoulders trembling with deep, dry sobs that had no breath to give them voice. A sound like broken wings echoed low in your throat.
“My love…” Gwayne said softly, uncertainly, and stepped inside.
You stiffened, your fingers tightening around the small bundle in your lap—it was one of Grey Ghost’s scale-feathered talismans, the one you'd worn in your braid since you were thirteen. It had been charred. Blackened. Warped by fire not its own.
“I know,” you said without looking at him. “Don’t say it.”
He stopped a few paces away, his throat working. He had held back the news as long as he could. Had considered softening it, had begged the Seven for it to be a mistake. But the bones were unmistakable, scattered near the narrow cliffs along the eastern edge of Dragonmont, among scorched stone and clumps of silver hair. No rider. No corpse. Just remnants. As if the wind had torn your dragon apart and something had feasted on the pieces.
“I had to tell you,” he said gently. “Y/N… they found him.”
You swayed where you knelt but didn’t fall. “What did they find?”
“A wing. Fragments of the skull. Bits of the tail—gods, it was torn nearly in half. Not by men. Not even by blade or bolt.”
You turned then, slowly, and when your eyes met his, Gwayne felt the room drop into silence around you. Your face was streaked with tears, but your gaze was dry now. Distant. Luminous. Dangerous.
“Which one was it?” you asked. “Sunfyre or Cannibal?”
He hesitated.
“I don’t know,” he admitted. “Sunfyre’s still been spotted near the mountain, wounded. But Cannibal… no one ever sees him until it’s too late.”
You let out a long, trembling breath, then rose unsteadily to your feet. The talisman fell from your lap and landed by the fire with a muted clink, its once-shimmering scales dulled and blackened like coal. Aelora stirred in her cradle behind you, sensing the tension in the air.
“Grey Ghost never hurt anyone,” you said, voice hollow. “He never went near the other dragons. He liked the cliffs and the sea caves. He liked quiet. And now he’s gone.”
Gwayne moved toward you carefully, as though you might vanish if he came too quickly. “I know. I’m sorry. I—I didn’t want you to hear it from anyone else.”
You looked at him, head tilted slightly. “I knew last night,” you whispered. “Mother was in the corner. She wouldn’t speak. She only watched me. All night.”
A flicker of unease crossed his face, but he said nothing.
“You don’t believe in them,” you said softly. “But I see them. And when they stop speaking, that’s when I’m afraid.”
“I believe you,” Gwayne said, and he did. Or at least he believed in you, which was enough. He stepped closer and wrapped his arms around your narrow shoulders, pulling you gently against him. You did not resist. You were trembling—like a glass goblet filled too high and just beginning to spill.
“I’ll find out which of them did this,” he murmured against your hair. “I swear it.”
“I don’t want vengeance,” you whispered, though your hands clutched his doublet as if you might tear through it. “I want him back. He was the last part of me that still belonged to the sky.”
Gwayne held you tighter. “You still have the sky. You’re not alone.”
“But I am,” you said. “Even with you, I am. You don’t understand. Grey Ghost came to me when no other dragon would. I was… strange, and he was stranger. And now the quiet is gone. He was the silence I needed.”
He had no answer for that. There were no words that could balm the loss of a soul-bound creature, a beast as misunderstood as its rider. So he stood there with you, arms around your fragile frame, as you wept quietly into the front of his tunic. Aelora cooed once, sensing the tension in the room. And somewhere, far beneath the stone and ash of Dragonstone, something stirred—perhaps Cannibal, perhaps Sunfyre, perhaps something worse.
But your grief burned brighter than any dragonfire, and your love for the ghost that had flown beside you—untamed, unseen, unbroken—would never be so easily devoured.

Flufftober 2024 - 16 Yautja
Tumblr media
Y/N didn't want to be there at all.
There were times in life when you regretted being a good employee. Since he trusted her completely, sometimes Mr. Weyland would insist that she and no one else take care of a project, attend meetings, spend hours writing boring reports.
This time, her boss had decided that she would accompany him on an expedition to Antarctica, where a strange pyramid had been discovered.
No doubt it was a very important discovery on many levels, but even if she could appreciate History and Culture, Y/N didn't really want to die of cold several kilometers underground in search of the origin of humanity.
This obsession of Weyland's made no sense to her. It was like the debates about the shape of Earth. Round, flat, on a giant turtle, it didn't change anything in Y/N's life, and knowing where their ancestors came from was the same thing.
It would be interesting, but it wouldn't change anything.
"Aren't you curious to meet our creators ?"
"If we have to meet some, and no, sir, I'm not interested."
"Another good reason for you to come. I can't wait to see your face when we find something."
No doubt the old man was too scared when they were attacked by these acid-blooded creatures to think about looking at her face and boasting with pride, then when these weird warriors had chased them into this labyrinth.
According to the scientist De Rosa who was trying to decipher the hieroglyphs on the walls to find an exit, they were two races of aliens who had been fighting for centuries. A hunt, to prove their worth, and Weyland's team was in the middle of this fight that didn't concern them.
On top of that, they had made the mistake of taking the warriors' weapons, the only reason they were attacking them. Otherwise, humans had no interest.
At least, until they were forced to face one of the things and Y/N managed to kill it, avoiding being injured by its acidic blood and its pointed tail. She was the only one left and there was no way she was going to end up in this place.
She didn't even have time to recover when the other alien appeared in front of her, making her jump and fall to the ground. But while she thought he was going to take advantage of it to kill her, he just stared at her, before looking at the creature's body, making strange clicking noises.
With his mask, it was impossible to know what he was thinking, but she had the impression that he was impressed. His noises, which seemed to be his form of language, became a kind of purr as he approached her.
Petrified and knowing that she had no chance against him, Y/N watched him reach out to her, before understanding that he wanted to help her up.
"… Thank you." she whispered, grabbing his huge hand.
He was still as tall even when she was standing. Quickly, he scanned her for injuries, before giving her a weapon. Despite the language barrier, Y/N guessed that it was a sign of respect, that he considered her his equal and that he was going to help her survive.
The alien, which she named 'Scar' for lack of a better term, stayed by her side until they had eliminated all the creatures and had gotten out of the pyramid safely.
For a moment, she wondered if he was going to abandon her here or kill her, because from what De Rosa had understood, these warriors left no witness to their passage.
A ship appeared above them, lighting up the entire plain. Y/N thought of Weyland, who would have laughed at the sight of her face at that moment. It might not have been their creators, but it was still incredible, and if she wasn't about to die, she could have been amazed.
"Come." Scar said then, in a strange voice, like a recording, which surprised her.
"What ? Come where ?"
"Come." he only repeated, taking off his mask, revealing his monstrous face, and yet very human eyes. "Oxloq'inb'il, kaw rib' rochb'een. Yoo."
"Oh. You want me to come with you ?"
"Sei. Come."
She could have said no. But besides the fear of losing her head if she refused, Y/N was curious. Really, her boss would have found it hilarious. Scar purred loudly when she took his hand, visibly delighted that she followed him.

in the world of formula 1, animosity was normal.
welcomed, even.
with the competitive nature of the sport, there was no escaping it.
there was always drama. a driver who refused to acknowledge their mistake that cost another driver their podium. a driver who got a little handsy, shoving another driver after a heated exchange of words. a driver who would refuse to accept that they had teammates. a driver who timed their overtake a bit too late, barreling into another car.
it was just the reality of the sport. although it was not as physical as football, rugby, or even wrestling, the adrenaline would fuel outbursts, the tension palpable by even the most casual of fan.
yet, there were times the tension was fabricated too. some of the gossip was purely baseless rumors, where other times it was a tiny spat that was overexaggerated for the sake of social media attraction. a headline generated for some clicks or views.
you were a good girl.
you kept your head down low, only spoke when spoken to, and rarely let the adrenaline get the best of you. you kept things as clean as possible, anxious of the nuclear fallout. you even inhibited your abilities, just enough so you stayed midfield.
well, it’s not like you wanted to hold back.
you just figured it was better that way. there was less risk of a crash that way. and with no accidents or damage to the car, you could avoid blame from the fans and media when there were far from stellar performances.
life as a formula one rookie was rough enough.
being the only female driver on the grid was like pouring gasoline over an open flame.
sure, there were rough days. sessions where you felt completely and utterly defeated, tears streaming down your cheeks the moment you clawed that balaclava off. races where the dream of a podium felt almost impossible to achieve. nights where you wanted to chuck your helmet against the wall, screaming until your lungs gave out.
however, there was nowhere else you would rather be.
nothing in life compared to being behind the wheel of the car. nothing was as fulfilling as racing, the euphoria pumping through your veins as you soared down that straight. nothing else inspired you or brought you the intense thrill that formula one did.
you absolutely loved the sport. everything and anything about it.
well, almost everything.
and that one thing? well, it was not a thing. it was a person.
a driver, actually. his name?
fernando alonso.
the spaniard was a veteran, in the midst of his twenty-first season. he had seen it all, from a turbulent rookie year to dozens upon dozens of podiums. he had relished in that sweet, sweet taste of victory. he had heard the thunder of dozens upon dozens of fireworks, savoring the way the crowd roared his name.
with two championship titles, thirty-two grand prix wins, and twenty-two pole positions, you would think that he would be slowing down, eager to begin a life off of the grid.
to your dismay, he was contracted with aston martin until the end 2026. that meant two more seasons of his snarky remarks and unwarranted antics.
ever since lance finally convinced his father to let him take a step back from racing, you were promoted to fill the aston martin seat. you spent 2024 as their reserve driver, keeping a low profile. of course, acquiring a female driver was a shock to many, but since it was aston martin, it was not as coveted as signing with red bull or ferrari.
in andy cowell's mind, the move made perfect sense. after all, he felt that you deserved it, as you proved your patience. and whenever you did test, you were stellar. there was no need to bring in a fresh face from formula two, who would only crumble under the intense pressure.
in his eyes, you were a driver worth investing in. someone who could make history, all eyes falling on aston martin and their first female world champion.
a star in the making.
aston martin's diamond in the rough.
yet, there was one person who was not too fond of the newbie.
and that person was fernando.
you see, it was not like he was harassing you.
it was more along the lines of him making your life as inconvenient as possible.
he was colder than the rest of the aston martin team, barely speaking more than two to three words to you at a time. he refused to participate in sponsorships or social media bits with you. he would only address you by "newbie", never by your name.
he would call out your mistakes during press conferences. he would blame you for underperforming during race weekends. he would giggle and gossip about you with the other drivers, sparking rumors that you were interested in carlos. some weekends he proclaimed it was charles or lando.
he never went too far, though. he never intentionally rammed into your car or put you in risk of danger. he never created false narratives to share with the media. he never slandered you so badly that it prevented you from competing.
it was mostly harmless. things you would have dealt with in middle school. behaviors you felt that a man of his age should have outgrown.
in your mind, it was his fucked up way of welcoming you to the grid. some sort of test you needed to pass in order to be accepted by not only him, but the other drivers. you needed to suffer as much as possible your rookie year in order to climb that social ladder.
from the beginning, you figured you would match his energy.
you would fight the fire with your own flames.
his taunts were met with retaliation, the jabs countered by venomous barbs. when he went low, you went lower. you were not going down without putting up a fight.
and every time his voice would lower, his head tilting ever so slightly, just a few degrees enough for you to notice. there was this glint swimming in his depths, almost as if he was pleading for you to keep going, to keep the insults flowing.
the notes would get breathy, his chest rising and falling at a more rapid heart.
it was almost as if he liked getting a reaction out of you.
he would push at your buttons, just enough to keep you frustrated.
almost as if he enjoyed it, soaking in every second.
almost as if this was a game for him.
a game that he would not win.
not while you were in that damn aston martin seat.
however, there was one particular aspect of it all that left you spiraling, lying wide awake at night. your mind would rewind, replaying every moment of every sole interaction that you have ever had with this man.
unfortunately, you had developed a crush on fernando.
a significant one, at that.
in the midst of every quarrel, your eyes would meet. heat would billow into your cheeks, your heart rate only skyrocketing as he maintained the eye contact, his gaze every so often flickering to your lips. there was one instance in which you swore you heard him utter, keep going baby. at those words, your knees buckled, your throat tightening.
to make things worse, you loved hearing him speak to you like that.
it was almost as if he was praising you for it.
there was no denying that fernando was a handsome man. lately, he was growing out his hair, the fluffy strands unruly. along his chiseled jawline was a constant five o'clock shadow, the stubble prominent at all times. whenever you caught a glimpse of the inked skin poking above the collar of his clothing, you a shiver ran down your spine.
and fuck, his eyes were oh so stunning. the hues were reminiscent of sunlight pouring in through a forest, the rays of light illuminating the dusty earth. the colors were rich and vivid, shimmering as they drank you in.
he thought he would get away with it, but you've caught his gaze lingering for just a little too long, carefully capturing any detail before pulling away.
there was a part of you that wondered if all of this was his fucked up way of flirting, but you denied it.
there was no way in hell fernando was into you.
there was just no damn way.
november 3rd, 2024
"look at all of this shit."
a driver clicks his tongue, shaking his head ever so slightly. various hues of emerald blur in his peripheral, members of the crew chattering about.
"what do you think of the rain, eh?" the spaniard's body shifts, facing his race engineer, "you think it will cause some chaos out there?"
"fernando," chris rolls his eyes, "you and i both know what happens when that asphalt gets slick. just follow your gut. do what you feel is right."
"of course," a chuckle flows from fernando's lips, the driver wagging a finger at his engineer, "no funny business out there."
another member of the crew strolls up to chris, murmuring something that fernando can't quite decipher. chris exhales, his stare fixated on the rain as it pounded the pavement. fernando puckers his lips, words dangling on the tip of his tongue. yet, he can't speak.
someone else enters his line of sight, stealing any shred of attention he had left.
that someone else was you.
licking his lips, he calls out, "are you going to be able to handle a little rain?"
your jaw clenches, head swiveling as your brow furrows, "i can, actually. not sure how you'll fare, though."
"is that a challenge?" he can't help but feel his lips twitch, curling into a smirk, "let's see if you can even make it past the first turn before hydroplaning."
"you're on." you shoot him a wink, blowing him a kiss, "i'll make sure i find you in the crowd when i'm on that podium."
"sure," fernando tuts, folding his arms across his chest, "we'll see about that one, baby girl."
we'll see about that one, baby girl.
you freeze, earning a laugh from him. he cocks his head, tongue running along his teeth, "cat got your tongue?"
"n-no," you spit out, "save it for the race, fernando."
as you storm off, there's a sensation burning within, the flames licking about.
god, he craved riling you up.
you see, it was not like he was trying to make your life at aston martin miserable. to him, it was more like poking the bear, to see just how many buttons he had to push before you snapped. the moment in which you would become you, the real you. the person he knew was hiding in there, anxiously anticipating her moment the shine.
he was waiting for the moment in which you would unleash your full potential, fighting tooth and nail for that podium. the moment in which would make the other drivers fear you, not daring to overtake or pull cheap shots.
fernando was well aware you had the talent to be the world champion.
you just needed a little push here and there to unlock it.
before he knew it, he was sliding into the seat, shoving his fingers into the gloves. there was a slight rain delay, but nothing that had never encountered before. he was a professional, a seasoned driver in conditions like this.
however, as the car lurches onto the track, there's this feeling that blossoms into his chest. it tugs at his heart, head raising so that he could glance over, taking one last look before all hell broke loose.
you are in your own car, visor flipped down. droplets of rain glitter on your helmet, the suit a darker shade than usual from all of the moisture.
although he can't see your face underneath the helmet, he knows that your lips are slightly pursed. your eyes are narrowed, lasered in, hoping to catch a glimpse of the flag. concentration paints your features, but he knows in that moment, you could not be more beautiful.
if only you knew.
if only.
the second the roar of engines fill his ears is when it all blurs together.
parts fly in the air, a tire whizzing past. his heart thuds against his rib-cage, but he knows he cannot stop. he cannot make any mistakes. one delayed reaction could lead to devastation.
"fernando, they're waving a red flag. head to the pits and await further directions."
"what is going on? what happened?" he pants, his chest heaving, "tell me, who was involved?"
"there was an accident. we think she's going to be okay, but we're not sure. hence, the double-flag. first, we need to get you pitted."
"i-is she injured?" his fingers tremble, "d-do you guys know her status?"
"our priority is getting you to the pits safely. we will reconvene once you're back."
"fuck!" the driver shouts, tears forming as he maneuvers about, shifting between the brake and gas. the rain is torrential, shrouding the grandstands and his nearby surroundings.
he should have warned her. he should have given her some tips. he should have made it his priority to ensure she made it out of the first lap safely.
yet, it was too late.
"fuck! fuck! fuck!"
november 4th, 2024
harsh, sterile light seeps into your vision, nearly blinding as you groan, stirring. as your eyes adjust, you wrinkle your nose, sensing something taped to your hand.
as you make it out, you realize it's an i.v., hooked to a bag floating above your head. swallowing, you sense someone else in the room, but you are ensure of who it may be.
"there she is."
his voice is familiar, one you found comfort in.
"w-what happened?" the words are coughed out, but he understand them nonetheless, "where a-am i?"
fernando straightens in his chair, slightly leaning over the bed rail, "we're at a nearby hospital. i'm not too sure of where, exactly."
a searing pain shoots into your skull, earning a wince. fernando's fingers roam across your forehead, brushing a few strands of hair from your brow.
"do you remember what happened?"
"no," a giggle bubbles up in your throat as you pick out the concern plastered across his features. his jaw is tight, lips etched in a tightly knit frown, "but i think i'm dreaming because you're by my side. i would've expected andy or ben."
"you're not dreaming, beautiful girl," he murmurs. his hands reach out the rail, settling on yours, "it's me, i'm here."
"but you're alone," propping yourself up with an elbow, you inhale sharply, "you would rather retire than spend quality time with your teammate."
"not just any old teammate," cautiously, he brings a hand to his lips, gently pressing them against each knuckle, "the teammate i look forward to teasing every day."
your heart skips a beat as he switches hand, peppering the heated skin with gentle kisses, "you hate me, fernando."
"hate?" his eyes widen, mouth flying open, "you think i hate you?"
"i-i mean," you shrug, "you treat me like i'm your enemy."
"i know," the words are eerily quiet, merely a whisper, "i know i treat you that way. and for that, i am sorry."
"are you just saying that or do you mean that?"
"do you want to know why i treat you the way i do? you want me to be honest?" he arches a brow, intertwining your fingers together, "i know what you want me to say, but i want to just hear it."
bliss ripples in your chest at the action, the medication seeping into your veins, "a-are you sure i'm not dreaming, nando?"
at the sound of his nickname falling from your lips, he nearly loses control.
"you're not dreaming, beautiful girl. i was worried about you, so i came in and waited by your side until you woke up. i'm attracted to you, angel. you're so stunning it leaves me speechless. and i know if i give in to my feelings, if i let them consume me, i am going to be under your spell for the rest of my life.
you are so determined, so bright, so talented. it hurts me that you don't maximize your full potential when we are on the track. although it may seem like i hate you, i just can't help myself. so, i have to find another outlet for these feelings. there's no other way i would be able to concentrate, let alone reach my goals with you around. so, i have to keep my distance. i have to remind myself that it's not you, it's me. it's a bit juvenile, but there's no other way for me to function."
his confession leaves you reeling, the beeping of the monitor speeding up as he rises to his feet, leaving over the rail. his mouth hovers above yours, merely centimeters away as the tip of nose brushes against yours.
yet, the next round of medications are settling in, pulling you into the depths of slumber. licking your lips, your lashes flutter as the tip of his nose brushes against yours.
"nando," you hum, "it sounds like to me you're in love with me."
at that, he squeezes your hand, flashing you a dazzling smile, "i just might be, angel. i just might be."
"you shouldn't be scared of your feelings. you should feel them. who knows, it may work out in your favor."
"who knows," his voice is hushed, "oh, pretty girl. looks like your meds are kicking in, huh?"
you nod, the corners of your lips forming a pout, "mhmmm. will you stay with me? until i wake up again? i want to know i'm not dreaming."
"i will," there were no hesitations, "i'll stay here until you wake up again. sleep well, angel."
as you doze off, the spanish driver fiddles with a few of your things, organizing them. as dazed as you were, he did not want to create any further confusion when you woke up once again. he was going to take advantage of this moment in time, as he was unsure of when he was going to get it again.
as far as the accident, you were stable. unfortunately, going into one of the first few turns, you fell victim to kevin magnussen, the two of you colliding. since you received the impact, both you and the car were in far worse shape. you spun out of control, barreling into the nearby barriers.
they rushed you by ambulance to the closest hospital, the spanish driver filled to the brim with dread as he watched you leave the track, hauled away in the emergency vehicle.
he ended up finishing in the fourteenth position. not anywhere near where he wanted to be, but his mind was other places.
he was far more concerned about you. how you were doing, what injuries you suffered, and where they were bringing you in for treatment. the second he was able, he flew to the hospital, jogging into the lobby. he was out of breath, exhausted from the events of the day, but it didn't matter.
all that mattered was you.
fortunately, you were diagnosed with minor injuries. you had a concussion, along with a few broken ribs. you would make a strong recovery, bouncing back within a matter of weeks. you were in and out of sleep, but he did not mind.
he would sit and wait. as long as you needed him, he would be by your side.
who was going to be the first one to pester you once you were discharged? who else would be there to make you laugh? to get that light back in your eyes?
after all, there were many questions to be answered.
and he would get those answers.
not anytime in the near future, but soon enough.
however, buried deeply in his heart, he knew how you felt. you did not have to say a single word.
the radiant grin that appeared when you saw him was enough.

Past the Finish Line: Beyond the Checkered Flag [MV1]
As the final race of the 2024 season approaches, [Y/N] strives to reclaim her peace amidst chaos, love confessions and bittersweet encounters. Closure comes with the roar of engines and the glow of the podium — but just when the dust seems to settle, new– and old sparks ignite, all of them promising a bright future yet unwritten.
Tumblr media
Pairings: Max Verstappen x Sainz! Female Reader, Sainz! Female Reader x Brother! Carlos Sainz, a little Charles Leclerc x Sainz! Female Reader and a little Lando Norris x Sainz! Female Reader.
Warnings: Charlos divorce. Panic Attack. Carlos last race with Ferrari. Open Ending. Is Kelly Piquet a Warning?
A/N: Hi, Xim here. Here is the last part of "Past the Finish Line" short series, hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I enjoyed writting it. English is not my first language so apologies in advance for any mistake. Are Max and (Y/N) Done for Good? What Happend with Charles? Lando enters the picture as well?
Part 1. | Part 2. | Lando's Ending | Charles' Ending
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The weeks following Monza passed in relative quiet. (Y/N) retreated into her writing, pouring her emotions into her work. She disconnected from social media, avoiding the curated perfection of others' lives, especially the constant updates about Max and Kelly.
Her family had returned to Madrid after the Italian race, but she went back to Mallorca, finding solace in the island's tranquil beauty. The warm breeze carried the scent of salt and wildflowers, and the gentle rhythm of the waves became a balm for her restless soul.
One morning, as she sat on the terrace overlooking the sparkling sea, her visiting mother, Mercedes, joined her with two cups of tea.
"You've been quiet," her mother observed gently, placing one cup in front of her.
(Y/N) wrapped her hands around the warm mug, the steam curling into the air. "Just... thinking."
Mercedes gave her a knowing look. "About him?"
She hesitated before nodding. "I thought I was getting better, but then Monza happened. Seeing him, hearing his voice... it just brought everything back."
Her mother's hand covered hers. "Healing isn't a straight line, hija. But you're stronger than you think."
(Y/N)'s throat tightened. "Sometimes I wonder if I made a mistake. Maybe I should've fought harder."
Mercedes's eyes softened. "You fought enough mi amor. Love shouldn't be a battlefield where you have to prove your worth."
The truth of her mother's words settled heavily on her chest.
Spending peaceful days in Mallorca allowed life to beckon her back. Her agent had been persistent, urging her to attend an upcoming literary event in New York. It was time, (Y/N) decided, to re-engage with the world.
She packed her bags, leaving the island with a sense of quiet determination. Max might have moved on, but so could she.
As the plane soared over the Mediterranean, she watched the clouds drift by, her heart lighter than it had been in a long time.
φ
A few months after her return to Madrid, (Y/N)'s phone buzzed with an unexpected call from her father.
"Hola, papá," she greeted warmly.
"Cariño," his voice was gentle but firm. "We need you in Abu Dhabi for Carlos's final race with Ferrari. The whole family will be there."
Her stomach twisted. The paddock again. The last place she wanted to be.
"I don't think I can..." she murmured grimmley.
"Your brother deserves your support," her father reminded her. "You’re strong enough for this, hija. And we'll all be there with you."
Her heart warred with her mind, but in the end, love for her brother won out. "Okay. I'll be there."
The decision was made, but anxiety clawed at her chest. The idea of facing Max again, seeing him with Kelly, was almost unbearable.
Still, she owed it to Carlos.
φ
Abu Dhabi was a city shimmering with golden light and restless energy. The final race of the 2024 Formula 1 season had drawn an electric crowd, eager to witness the spectacle unfold. This was meant to be a celebration—Carlos’ last race with Ferrari. She was there for him, for the team, for everything but herself. The journey to this place felt less like a celebration and more like a reckoning.
She arrived early, blending into the sea of red-clad Ferrari fans who hoped for one last victory for Carlos in the iconic scarlet car. The weight of nostalgia and pride hung thick in the air. (Y/N) tried to focus on that, on the fact that she was here for her brother, not for unresolved heartache or awkward confrontations.
The paddock was a blur of activity as mechanics prepped cars and journalists buzzed around the drivers like bees to honey. She kept her head down, walking alongside her family until a sudden burst of laughter caught her attention.
She spotted a little girl running off in the paddock, too quick for her mother to catch. Instinctively, she reached out, stopping her in her tracks before she could get lost in the crowd. "Where do you think you’re going, pequeñita?" she teased, crouching to her level and catching the kid by the hand.
The girl looked up at her with wide eyes, momentarily surprised before breaking into a shy smile. "There is Maxie," she murmured, pointing toward the Red-Bull garage.
(Y/N)’s breath hitched. Kelly Piquet stood just a few steps away, radiating elegance. Her long dark hair fell in soft waves over her shoulders, this kid must be Penelope, the little girl twirled gleefully in a dress that sparkled under the sun.
Kelly hurried over, her expression grateful. "Thank you so much," she said breathlessly. "She’s always running off."
Now that Kelly was closer she could see it clearly—the subtle swell of her stomach, the unmistakable glow.
(Y/N) knelt down to Penelope’s level, smoothing the girl's dress. "You have to stay close to your mamá, okay?"
Penelope nodded solemnly before scurrying back to Kelly’s side.
Kelly's smile faltered for a brief second, replaced by an awkward but sincere expression. "It’s good to meet you, (Y/N)." She had seen countless pictures of Max ex girlfriend on his socials.
There was no malice in her tone, only genuine warmth. (Y/N)´s chest tightened, but there was no hatred, no resentment. Kelly had done nothing wrong. If anything, she had been the one Max had chosen
She forced a smile. "Congratulations," she said, gesturing subtly to Kelly’s visibly pregnant belly. "I hope everything goes well."
Kelly's hand rested protectively on her bump. "Thank you. That means a lot."
There was a beat of silence, heavy with unspoken complexities. Kelly opened her mouth as if to say something more but seemed to think better of it.
Moving on was supposed to be the goal. (Y/N) just hadn’t expected how much it would hurt. She excused herself quickly with a subtle nod as she felt the edges of her anxiety creeping in.
φ
The paddock hummed with electric energy as preparations for the final race intensified. The tension was palpable, thick enough to cling to the humid desert air. (Y/N) stood on the fringes of the chaos, stumbling toward the back of a garage, away from the bustling crowds, her breath shallow and erratic. Her heart pounded against her ribs, a relentless drumbeat fueled by the weight of what she'd seen—Kelly's pregnant silhouette and Penelope's innocent laughter still echoing in her mind.
Her vision blurred, the sounds around her distorting as panic clawed at her throat.
She stumbled backward, Her chest heaved as she gripped the railing behind her, desperately fighting to ground herself. Her breaths came in sharp gasps, shallow and frantic.
"Hey."
The familiar British accent almost pulled her from the brink. Lando Norris stood a few feet away, concern etched across his face.
"You need to breathe, Darling." The voice was calm but insistent, cutting through the fog threatening to consume her.
He was now next to her, his blue eyes steady as they locked onto hers. He reached for her hand, not touching her yet but holding it within reach, offering reassurance without pressure.
"Look at me," he instructed gently. "We're going to do this together, okay?"
She gave a faint nod, her chest still tight.
"Tell me five things you can see right now," he urged.
(Y/N) blinked, trying to focus. "The... railing. The tires. Your papaya shoes. The garage entrance. And... the sky."
"Good," he praised softly. "Four things you can feel."
"My heart racing," she admitted shakily. "The metal of the railing... the heat... and your hand close to mine."
His lips quirked into a soft smile. "Three things you can hear."
"The engines. People talking. Your voice."
"Two things you can smell."
"Gasoline and... something clean, maybe soap?"
"That's me," he teased lightly. "One thing you can taste?"
"My own panic," she admitted bitterly, but a hint of humor broke through.
"How about hope?" he suggested, squeezing her hand lightly. "That tastes better."
A reluctant laugh escaped her, easing some of the tension coiled in her chest. Her breathing steadied, the weight lifting bit by bit.
"Better?" he asked, concern still lacing his tone.
"Yeah," she breathed, straightening up. "Thank you."
"Always," he assured her.
Silence hung between them for a moment before Lando leaned casually against the railing beside her, his playful demeanor returning.
"Y'know," he began, "I'm trying not to freak out about this race, but if Ferrari wins, they'll take the constructors’ title. If we win, it's ours. So no pressure or anything."
She arched her brow, grateful for the distraction. "Is that your way of saying you're nervous?"
"Terrified," he admitted with a grin. "But don't tell anyone. Gotta keep up appearances."
They shared a laugh again before the atmosphere shifted, turning serious once more.
"You okay?" he asked gently, stepping closer.
She nodded, though it was a lie. "Just needed air."
Lando's brow furrowed. "You're a terrible liar."
She let out a shaky laugh. "I know."
He didn't press further, simply stood beside her in comfortable silence. The weight of his presence was strangely comforting, steadying her frayed nerves.
"You wanna talk about it?" he offered after a moment.
She sighed. "It's just... everything. Seeing Kelly, knowing she's pregnant. It just brought back all the stuff I thought I'd moved past."
Lando's jaw tightened, but he kept his voice soft. "You're allowed to feel that way. Doesn't make you weak."
"I hate that it still hurts," she admitted quietly.
He tilted his head, his blue eyes earnest. "That's 'cause you loved him. Real love doesn't just vanish, even when it should."
(Y/N) met his gaze, surprised by the raw understanding in his tone. "Since when did you get so wise?"
"Been hanging around a lot of emotionally stunted people," he teased, lightening the mood. "Had to learn something."
She smiled softly. "You're an excellent driver, Lando. If anyone can do it, it's you."
"High praise coming from a Sainz," he quipped, giving in to her change of topics.
She laughed. "Don't tell Carlos, but I'll be rooting for you. Either way, one of my brothers will win."
Lando's playful grin faltered, replaced by something more serious. His gaze darkened with an intensity that made her heart skip.
"I'm not your brother, (Y/N)" he said quietly, his voice low but resolute. "I've never been able to see you that way. Not since the moment I met you."
Her breath caught, the weight of his words hanging in the air between them. His confession was unspoken yet undeniable, etched into the very fabric of the moment.
He rubbed the back of his neck, eyes flickering with vulnerability. "You've always been more to me. The woman I look for in every room, even when I know I shouldn't. And yeah, maybe that's selfish or stupid, but it's the truth."
(Y/)'s heart raced, caught off guard by the confession.
"Lando..." she whispered, unsure of what to say.
He held up a hand. "I’m not saying this to make things harder for you. Just... I needed you to know."
Ocean blue eyes met her deep ones, clashing and melding with unspoken emotions and for a moment, the world faded around them.
"I don't know what to say," she admitted honestly.
"You don't have to say anything," he assured her. "Just know I'm here. Always."
The sincerity in his voice warmed something inside her that had long been cold
He smiled faintly, a mix of vulnerability and confidence. "We'll talk after the race."
"Thank you," she whispered. Though she didn´t know what she was thanking him for. The support? His help with the panic attack? The sincerity in his confession?
Lando smiled softly. "Anytime, Darling."
With that, he turned and walked away toward the Mclaren garage, leaving her standing there, stunned and breathless.
The race was a blur of adrenaline and tension. Carlos drove with everything he had, determined to leave Ferrari on a high note. (Y/N) watched from the garage, her heart in her throat as the laps dwindled down.
When the checkered flag waved, it was Lando who took the victory, with Carlos following closely in second, earning a podium finish in his final race with Ferrari. Charles managed third completing the last step at the podium.
The celebration was wild, but and as she made her way to the podium, (Y/N) found herself wandering, lost in thought.
She almost didn’t see him until it was too late.
Max stood under the dim glow of the paddock lights, his expression unreadable.
"(Y/N)."
Her heart clenched painfully at the sound of his voice. No Schatje. Just her name.
She steeled herself, meeting his gaze head-on. "Max."
There was a beat of silence, heavy with everything unsaid.
"I need to talk to you," he began, his voice rough. "I messed up. I should've stopped you that night in Hungary. I should've fought for you."
(Y/N)'s throat tightened. "But you didn't," The anger she had been suppressing for months finally boiled over. "Did those eight years mean nothing to you?" Her voice trembled, but she held her ground. "Or was it just that you were finally ready for commitment—just not with me?"
Max’s jaw tightened. "They meant everything, (Y/N). I made a mistake."
"A mistake?" she scoffed. "You had sex with Kelly, and now she’s pregnant. That’s not a mistake, Max. That’s a consequence."
He nodded, guilt etched into his features. "I know I made it worse. I didn't mean for any of it to happen."
"You have a baby on the way," she said quietly, the weight of that reality sinking in.
Max's voice cracked. "I wanted that with you. Always with you."
Her eyes burned, but she refused to let the tears fall. "It doesn't matter anymore.”
His shoulders tensed, pain and panic flickering across his face. "I know, I have to take responsibility now."
"Then do that. Be better for them than you ever were for me. But don’t stand here and act like this conversation changes anything between us. It doesn’t." Her voice wavered, but her resolve didn’t. “You can't call your child a mistake, Max. And you can't make the same mistakes with Kelly and your new family.”
His expression shattered. "Schatje—"
"No," she cut him off, her voice firm. "I loved you. And maybe I always will. But we are done. For good. And that's okay. I need to move on, and so do you."
The finality in her words hung between them, bittersweet and liberating.
She didn’t wait for a response. Without another word, she turned and walked away, her heart lighter despite the ache that lingered, leaving him with nothing but the words that should have been said long before now.
φ
The podium ceremony was a chaotic blur. The noise was deafening as the celebrations reached their peak. Confetti rained down in shimmering bursts of red, green, and gold, swirling through the night air under the harsh lights. The drivers stood triumphant, champagne bottles in hand, grins stretched wide across their faces.
(Y/N) stood at the edge of the chaos with her family, watching Carlos bask in his well-earned final moment with Ferrari and cheering loudly for him. Her heart swelled with pride, the weight she'd carried for weeks finally dissipating into the night air. The conversation with Max had hurt, but it had given her what she needed—closure.
She breathed in deeply, savoring the freedom that came with letting go. It wasn’t perfect, but it was enough.
Laughter echoed from the podium as the drivers sprayed each other with champagne, their suits drenched and sticky with victory.
Just as she let out a slow breath, a movement from the podium caught her eye. One of the drivers that shared the Podium with Carlos glanced down at her from the elevated platform, bright eyes catching hers amidst the chaos.
A slow, mischievous grin spread across his handsome face. He winked, then pointed at the gleaming trophy in his hand and back at her, a playful challenge written in his expression.
(Y/N)'s lips parted in surprise before a laugh escaped her, light and genuine. "Oh, God," she whispered to herself, shaking her head.
A familiar face. A new complication.
Well, that was a problem for another day.
For now, she let herself revel in the joy of the moment, the weight of the past finally behind her.
For now, she was free.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

︶꒦꒷♡꒷꒦︶
the feeling of being mistaken by someone is so fucking annoying.
especially when you have probably just been mistaken as a pervert…!
the boy in your tennis class (not to mention, very handsome.) was just squatting in front of you, playing with the school campus cat that you have also been taking care of for months. you were also heading to feed the cat when you had already found him there, squatting down, caressing the cat. he was wearing a white button-up and baggy ripped jeans, but you can’t help but notice that….half of his shirt wasn’t tucked in? and it just looks like it’s dangling out like seaweed…?
after staring at the white fabric for a few seconds, you look down at the bag of cat food, before putting it in your pocket, planning to feed the cat after he leaves. but when you lifted your head back up, your eyes met with the boy, there were no emotions in his eyes but you felt a hint of shyness rush to your head, and the idea that you were going to feed the cat floated away from your head as you immediately rushed back to your dorm.
nayeon listened patiently and childish complaint that there was also someone looking after your cat, and how he mistook that you were staring at his ass for a good few seconds, before commenting: “don’t you realize that…he might think you were there to stare at him…..and how you ran away when he saw you…that’s quite suspicious…?”
you freeze. “holy shit.”
nayeon giggled as she continued. “also last tennis session! you were zoning off at the back of his head, so when he turned, he gave you this weird look.”
“no freaking way. i didn’t notice that.”
“it was a funny look, not going to lie.”
“help, what if he actually thinks i have a crush on him cause i keep staring at him?!” you try to contain the racing thoughts, and contemplate if you should’ve just kept your eyes pierced on the ground and not on his ass, or the back of his head.
“i mean he’s pretty good-looking, it won’t be weird to have a crush on him.”
you roll your eyes at her comment. “i don’t get it, it doesn’t mean everyone has to have a crush on him just because he’s good-looking, nayeon.”
it was the next tennis lesson, and to avoid more unnecessary interactions, you avoided all eye contact with anyone, but that didn’t stop nayeon from squealing and reporting every small movement from the boy. “he’s facing your direction!” “oh my gosh he’s right behind you!” your hands start to clam up with sweat with every small comment from nayeon. “stop looking at him, gosh.” it was after the lesson that you realized how even more suspicious you looked trying to avoid any eye contact and how often nayeon reported his movements in small mutters and whispers, and how you most definitely looked shy enough for anyone to mistake that you like the ‘good-looking tennis classmate’.
the teacher checks names off the clipboard as she reads two names at once to put their tennis equipment away. “nayeon, y/n.” she looks up at the two of you and back to the heavy boxes of tennis rackets. “the boy in the back, the tall one, help them with the boxes, please.” you and nayeon turn your head back in sync, to see the familiar boy nod and walk towards the both of you. you let out a sigh as nayeon excitedly squishes your arm, another strike.
is this perhaps….hopelessness?
yup, not only the boy, but everyone in your tennis class probably thinks that you have this awfully obvious and big crush on this person who you don’t even know the name of.
he cuts in front of you two, the three of you in complete silence. you and nayeon follow him like two cautious cats. he stops at the heavy boxes, and you two walk up to help him, but before you know it, he has already picked up the boxes with one hand, the other hand reaching into his pocket to answer the buzzing phone. what the fuck. you two shared a glance in disbelief, not going to lie, that was very, very, attractive. “damn. pretty tough.” you mutter under your breath and feel the two people from either side look at you immediately, his hand still holding the buzzing phone and nayeon giving you a concerned glance.
the way back to the dorm was filled with your quietness and nayeon’s laugh. “he probably used to think you were just someone who had a crush on him, but now he thinks you are a literal weirdo who has a crush on him.” you run your hands through your hair in annoyance, how did the sentence even slip through your mouth? looks like you won’t be getting sleep tonight. and you sure didn’t, you kept rolling and shuffling in your bed to think of a tactic to this misunderstanding that you and the tennis boy had going on, and with your smart and very intelligent little brain, you figured out a plan.
“to not make him think that i have a huge fucking crush on him, i am going to pretend i have a crush on somebody else.” you take a sip of your coffee as nayeon nods. “hmm…who else is there to ‘like’?” you think hard before coming to the conclusion that there is no one in your tennis class that is worth ‘liking’. nayeon helps you to think for a good minute: “min yoongi from music…?” you shiver at the thought of your cold and savage music seatmate. “if you really want me to die, just say that.” nayeon chuckles at your comment before going back into the deep search for a suitable ‘crush’ for you. “i heard the tennis dude is in geography.”
“geo!” another friend of yours popped into the conversation. “they have so many hot guys there!”
you felt a rush of excitement: “recommend me some!”
“what’s your type?”
“maybe… a pretty quiet one, maybe shy even? not that popular so no one will care if i like him, you know?”
nayeon shakes her head. “you can’t expect someone to be good-looking and not popular, y/n.”
“i think jeon jungkook.” your other friend suggested. “he’s quiet but literally more than half the school likes him, but that won’t be as weird if you also ‘like’ him, cause everyone likes him.”
nayeon nods in agreement. “never seen him in my life, but i swear i hear his name mentioned on campus wayyy too often.”
hm. interesting.
the next week came by fast, before class you made your way to the disposal machine and picked up a can of coke, putting it in your backpack before heading to tennis class.
it was free time when you made your way to where the tennis boy was, he was practicing with the wall, he spared you a glance as you walked towards him, and back to practicing with the wall. you take a big breath as you walk towards him, the coke still in your backpack, expecting that when he drops the ball, you are going to pick it up and hand it to him, making it a perfect opportunity to start the ‘conversation’. you lean against the fence, waiting for him to drop the ball.
not even once has he dropped the ball in the 10 minutes you have been standing here. you feel your legs start to cramp up. finally, he decided to rest for a good while, catching the ball with his right hand as it bounced off the wall, he lazily walked to his bag. you immediately rush over with the can in your hand. he looked at the can in your hands, then backed up to you. you couldn’t help but take in his facial features. it was the middle of the day, and the sun was high up in the sky, warming everybody up, and it seemed to warm your cheeks up when you made simple eye contact with the boy.
he raised an eyebrow at you as if he was asking a rude and straight ‘what are you doing?’ with his facial expressions. you felt a small taste of regret that second, thinking that this boy definitely thinks you have an obsessed crush on him now, so the only thing you can do now is hope that the next few things you are going to say work out.
“i bought coke for you.” you mumble as he takes a big sip from his bottle of water. “i don’t need that.” he has a straight face and everything. you take another deep breath as you figure out what you are going to say next. maybe this can be a little fun.
“are you free right now? i have something i want to say…” you tried to act as natural as you could. “i'm gonna practice.” he replied coldly before taking his equipment back to the court, your hand found his arm quickly, then released it in a second when he stopped in his tracks. “it’s just a few sentences.” you used a pleading tone, hoping this would convince him that you were going to ‘confess your crush’ to him. he patiently stopped and looked at you. you start your act, stuttering and acting shy, everything you have seen in romance confessing scenes in films. “well. i’ve noticed you for a long time…” you take the can of coke to hide your face as if you were a blushing mess. “i don’t know if you noticed that…” the ‘obviously you have a crush on me’ expression never left his face. “haven’t noticed.”
you suppress an eye roll. “all i wanted to say was, i knew you’re in geography…i just wanted to ask if you know a jeon jungkook, i’ve had a crush on him for pretty long, can you help me to get his number?” you definitely want to give yourself a pat on the back, a round of applause even. you felt proud of yourself, proud that this ‘plot twist’ you have created for him, will deflate his ego and convince him that you never had your schoolgirl crush on him, but on this jeon jungkook that you have never met.
the tennis boy didn’t even raise an eyebrow at the comment, still calm as ever. “i don’t know him.”
it's even better that you don’t know him. you thought. all you wanted to know was to share the signal that you have a crush on someone who is not him., you didn’t even care to want jeon jungkook’s number, it was all an act to ‘spread the message’, you pretended to be extremely upset that he did not know this crush of yours, whining an ‘awe~’ and nodding slowly, “okay then…”, leaving him to walk away without sparing a glance at you.
you don’t know what’s wrong with you now.
before you and this tennis boy had this thing going on, you never seemed to be seeing him around campus. but now after the last interaction, you seemed to be seeing the person everywhere. seeing him in the supermarket, seeing him in the cafeteria, seeing him in the library, seeing him between classes.
and you know what’s more ironic? it’s always when you’re also with nayeon. you know nayeon’s dramatic acts are to notify you that ‘the boy that thinks you like him’ is over there, but from someone who doesn’t know this situation, it looks like she’s trying to tell you ‘there’s-the-boy-that-you-have-a-huge-mother-fucking-crush-on’.
and the weird thing is, although you had explained that you like jeon jungkook, he seemed to still have the attitude that you are obsessed with him. especially when you bump into him and are forced to mutter a ‘hi’ or ‘hey’. all he would do was a gentle hum in response, or just nod. and you made a keynote to yourself to never say hello to him ever again.
the main point was when you and nayeon saw him in a convenience store. you two quickly made your way out as soon as he and his friends walked in. but nayeon saw somebody she knew and immediately started chatting along as the social butterfly she was. you watched from your side-eye as he and his friend walked out of the door.
“isn’t the girl in the beige crew neck your little fangirl?” an unfamiliar voice came from the side, from a boy with soft blonde hair, walking next to the tennis boy.
and then you hear it.
you hear a “mhm” of confirmation from the tennis boy. you felt a rush of anger run to your head as you retained yourself to scream at them. and then you watch the blonde boy spot you and nayeon, awkwardly, he turns away quickly and walks off with the other. but the other did not awkwardly leave, turning back to glance at you without shame. and that boiled your blood even more.
on the road back all you did was scream and mutter some curse words dedicated to the unshameful tennis boy.
“don’t you think he might think that the whole jeon jungkook thing was an excuse you used to get closer to him?” nayeon spoke slowly after you had expressed all your anger. and you feel your mind pause.
yup, it sure is hopelessness now if it wasn’t already hopelessness before.
the second morning. you woke up early and the first thing you did was to check on the cat, but you were extremely cautious. you did not want to bump into you-know-who, so you woke up extremely early so you could avoid seeing him. but after squatting down for just a few minutes. the expected happened. there he was, but this time wearing a black silk button-up, the buttons halfway up and you couldn’t help but take a few seconds to stare at him. but it’s okay because you were here first, so that makes you the person he should be waiting to finish with the cat.
he stopped in his tracks when he saw you, standing in his spot, waiting for you to leave.
‘do you get it? do you get it!’ you want to scream this at him. ‘this scene seems familiar! because you were in his spot the other day! you were just simply waiting! you don’t have a crush on him!’ you want to shout this all, but you were busy with the cat.
but weirdly today, the cat doesn’t seem to like you. it didn’t even take a single bite from the tuna stick you were feeding it, and it avoided your pats and touch today.
well..that’s not a very good sign, is it?
“it doesn’t like being touched.” he walked closer, “it might scratch you.” you knit your brows at his speech, you know that. you were here taking care of the cat earlier than this tennis boy…yet he’s giving instructions on how to take care of the cat??
“i know this cat.” you explain. “it likes me a lot.”
you pause when you watch the cat move away from your touch after your sentence, the cat avoids your touch as it slowly trots over to nudge his leg instead. he squats down and caresses the cat gently, then lifting his head to look at you with a glance, a look that made your blood boil. the competitiveness in you starts burning up like fire, you wave at the white cat, gesturing for it to come back to you. “lulu, over here.”
the cat doesn't budge, instead, it gives you a lazy side-eye look and back to enjoy the boy's company. is this perhaps, favoritism?!
“don’t randomly give it names.” he speaks slowly and quietly behind you. “what’s your problem?” you snap back with a tone that does not sound very friendly, and he stays silent as you stomp away. “i’m leaving, lulu!” you yell back one more time, and the cat: still under his touch, eyes closed, relaxed and unbothered.
okay then…this was your first time fully understanding the meaning and the understanding of pretty privilege.
“gosh, i was so hurt by that cat.” you complain back in your dorm. “it isn’t supposed to be like this! normally if you give it food, it will love you…but today it was completely under that tennis boy’s control. this is rigged.” nayeon pats the sheet mask she had on her face. “you saw him again this morning?” you sigh. “yeah, unlucky isn’t it?”
“he probably also thinks he’s pretty unlucky too.”
“if i knew he was gonna be there, i wouldn’t wake up so early to avoid him.”
“i was thinking,” nayeon starts again with the tone that you do not like very much, knowing this would be another thing to worry about tonight. “what if he thinks you were there just to create this ‘oops i did not know you were going to be here’ scene? like you were waiting for him to come and see the cat too to create this awkward meeting.” nayeon’s guesses always feel like lightning that struck straight into your soul. “and you said the cat didn’t really seem to like you, doesn’t that look like as if you aren’t close with the cat, as if you were there for another reason…?
that night was one of the sleepless nights filled with overthinking and worry.
you were heading over to the cafeteria the second day with a friend. in the crowded and loud dining hall, you hear a loud shout of ‘jungkook!’ from one side to the other. hearing the familiar yet unfamiliar name, you turn your head back in curiosity, but instead, meeting eyes with the tennis boy.
he was sitting at a table with 4 other boys, including the one blonde boy you saw last time when they were walking out of the convenience store. you tap your friend’s shoulder. “hey, turn your head to the big table with the 5 guys, is jeon jungkook in there? don’t make it obvious, please.”
you watch her basically throw her head back aggressively for what seems like 2 minutes, then turn back and nod. “yeah, isn’t he fine?” “holy shit, can you be more obvious?!” but hearing that your ‘crush’ is also on that table, you slowly turn your head once more and scan the boys, then realizing that out of all the boys, the tennis boy is still the most attractive one for you. although you don’t know which one is jeon jungkook, none out of the 4 boys seem to be your type.
your shoulders drop a little without realizing, disappointed in your ‘crush’. in fact, will the tennis boy think you have bad taste?
wait, why would you even care about him in the first place…right…?
the second week of tennis class, also your second streak of buying a can of coke for him. but this time, he doesn’t seem as cold and weird as last time. when he saw that you were waiting for him by the side, he dropped his equipment and walked slowly to you. “what?” you feel yourself swallow out of nervousness. “i saw you guys eating lunch last friday.” his brows knit slightly. “who?”
“jeon jungkook.” you reply quickly as if the name burns your tongue. “you said you didn’t know him last week…” he used an unspeakable emotion to reply. “i think you have the wrong person.” you were confused at the comment, but continued once more. “just say if you know him or not.”
“it doesn’t matter if i know him or not.” he licks his lips and runs his hands through his dark brown hair, maintaining eye contact with you and you feel you slowly lose your breath at the intense eye contact. you clear your throat and hand the can of coke to him, before taking a plastic bag containing some snacks. “the coke is for you, and can you hand these snacks to him?” before he can refuse it, you add another sentence. “if he doesn’t want them, take them for yourself, don't return it back to me, i would feel  very embarrassed if you did.”
he stayed silent for a few seconds, looking at the items in your two hands, then lifting his left hand to take both the cans of coke and the plastic bag. you let out a long breath. you hope this is obvious enough that you, y/n y/l/n, do not have a crush on him. or any liking. nothing.
you relax back into your chair, taking in your cup noodles as you listen to the gossip and events that happened today. there seems to be a geography boys vs gym boys basketball game that went on this afternoon, which turned out to be extremely intense and entertaining to watch. your ears perked up at the mention of geo boys.
you swallow your bite. “so who won?”
“duh, of course gym, they’re the professionals. how embarrassing would it be for them if they lost?!” your roommate answered, “geo lost because two of the best players got hurt throughout the last half of the game.” the thought of the tennis boy ran into your head, and you could not help but wonder if he got hurt too.
“oh yeah, the jeon jungkook you have a ‘crush’ on also got hurt. think he tripped and hurt his knee or something.” she continues. you nodded before turning to nayeon to ask;“what about the tennis dude? did he play today?”
“he played too, he was so good, i think i saw him also get hurt.” nayeon lets out a nosey ‘aww’. “you care about him quite much y/n….” you hesitate for a long time, putting yourself into deep thought. “nayeon…this is weird but, do you think that you somehow programmed my brain to take an attraction to him. because i don’t know why i’ve been thinking about and meeting him so much.”
nayeon knits her brows. “just say if you like him or not…anyways, there’s another game tomorrow, wanna go watch?”
you don’t know how you ended up here.
you thought you and nayeon were already early, but the court was still jammed with people. you tried your hardest to squeeze into the crowd, once you had finally worked your way to the front, your eyes caught him.
he stood in the corner, talking to his teammates, the red basketball jersey lazily overlaying a white tee, he ran his hand through his hair, and your eyes could not move away from him. a shout from a girl next to your side entered your ear. “jungkook looks so good?!” but you didn't have the attention for jeon jungkook, your eyes and mind was completely taken away by him instead.
the basketball game started, your eyes followed him as he took a sip from his water bottle, and high-fived his teammates before entering. a scream came from the two girls next to you. “go geo!!!” the scream caught his attention, causing him to turn towards your direction, spotting you standing next to the two girls. you make a good second of eye contact as you look away and cheer for jungkook instead.
after giving jeon jungkook a good shout, you turn back to him, but he is still looking at you. you did not know what to do, avoiding eye contact, you scanned the entire court with your eyes but just, not looking at him. he moved and looked away to get ready with his teammates, and you felt obligated to stare back at him. you watch him as he looks away, then lowers his head to suppress a small smirk.
and that smirk did a lot to you, you could not help but pinch nayeon’s arm.
the sharp whistle brought you back to life, the game has started. you did not understand basketball and didn't watch games in your spare time. so the entire time, you just kept your glance on the tennis boy.
and then you spot how his leg definitely got slightly injured during the last race, you could tell that his leg was a little uncomfortable when he was moving intensely.
but that leg did not stop him from aiming and playing perfectly, when he ran past the crowd, it felt like a swoosh of fresh wind. midgame, the ball has gone out of court. it rolls towards you and you watch as he comes jogging to pick the ball up, then accidentally stepping on your shoes. it was a light step but he immediately looked up at you and apologized. you frown playfully and he moves closer to you. “step on me and then we can be fair.” you bite your bottom lip to suppress a dumb grin, shaking your head and gesturing him to go back into the game.
you look to your right and see the group of girls rolling their eyes at you.  …arent they obsessed with that jeon jungkook or something…?
without a doubt, geo had won the game. you watched the large crowd of girls rush to hand the players drinks and ask for their numbers. you dragged nayeon away from the crazy amount of students that had created a crowd circling the team of boys. and you two make your way towards the convenience store on the other side of the road.
you pause in front of the drink aisles, struggling badly to pick a drink. just as you were deciding, a hand reached out from behind you to grab two bottles of coke. “oh, sorry-” you turn your head to be faced with the familiar tennis boy. he walked slyly to the counter, paid for the drinks and handed one of the bottles to you. “sorry for stepping on you during the game.” you shake your head, mumbling that it was fine and takes the bottle with both hands carefully as if you were the one who did something wrong.
he pauses for a second and grabs the bottle back from you before opening the bottle cap for you naturally in a swift motion. “did you not go and offer your little crush a drink?” he said with a teasing tone. you answer convincingly: “there were too many people standing around, i couldn’t squeeze in.
”oh.” he cocks an eyebrow as he slowly takes his phone out of his pocket. “i was talking to jungkook, telling him that a girl in my tennis class is interested in him, and he agreed to…give you his number.” you freeze instantly. “you want it?” he waves his phone at you.
this is…a little awkward. to be extremely honest, you don’t want his number, but seeing his bright glassy eyes staring at you, it is a little hard to refuse to take the number. you nod slowly as you bring out your phone, and enter the number into your contacts.
on the way back to your dorm, your finger trembled to type something into the chat, all you managed to enter the chatbox was a subtle and small smiley face.
quite awkward considering the fact that you don’t even know what this jeon jungkook looks like..
he replied fast, with just a casual:
‘hey’
you told him that he played really well during the game.
jungkook thanked you and said that he had received the bag of snacks.
well, this is a great start. but you can't help but think about what if this jeon jungkook takes an interest in you.
when you don’t even know who he is in the first place.
the second week of tennis class, you watch the tennis boy walk onto the court with a box of gourmand chocolates. nayeon nudges you when she sees him walk towards you, and stop just in front of you.
he looked especially calm: “he asked me to hand you this.” you reach your hand out take the pink box of chocolates and thank him with a mumble.
after class, jungkook texted you to ask if you had received the gift, and you two had some small talk. conversations about how your classes went and about his day distracted you, almost bumping into a tree. nayeon laughs as she drags you to the side before that disaster, “might as well go for this jeon jungkook if he’s brightening your day so much, y/n.”
you lock your phone before linking arms with nayeon. you’ve never realised how often you and this jeon jungkook got along just simply by texting. this situation seems to be a little flirty since he knows that you “like” him.
“i don’t even know him!! this was just a misunderstanding, there’s no way will i go for him.” nayeon nods her head. “of course i know it’s a misunderstanding, but it seems like it is a good misunderstanding- wait, you’re not telling me that you actually like that tennis guy…right?”
you stop in your tracks, not saying a word. nayeon cleared the silence: “if you reckon you like the other guy, let jeon jungkook know that this was all a misunderstanding.”
“that's exactly what i wanted to do, see?” you unlock and show her the texts. “i asked him if he wanted to go out for boba, so i could explain this to him in person, but he rejected and said he has training.”
he rejected your offer that day, and the day after.
neyeon jumps up when you read the “sorry, i also can’t do today.” text out: “what the heck!!!! there’s no way he’s that busy?? oh my gosh- he’s a fuckboy!! he’s a literal f-boy that can’t make enough time for all his girls-”
excellent idea, nayeon.
you sigh and nayeon notices how your shoulders dropped slightly.
“y/n, how about you tell the tennis guy then, cause you also have some misunderstandings with him, clear the air with him, and he can let jeon jungkook know since he obviously doesn’t have time for you”
you walk into the dining hall, only searching for the silhouette of one specific person. and there he is, sitting alone, enjoying a burger. you walk to the seat across from him, “hey.” the pair of deer eyes lands on you, and he raises an eyebrow. “what?”
you move at the speed of a snail, taking a seat in front of him: “i have things to tell you.”
the tennis boy puts down his meal, and slowly squeezes a sentence out his mouth. “then tell me.”
“i was talking about you because you didn’t tuck in your shirt properly the other day.”
“........i wore it like that on purpose.”
“ i was feeding that cat ages ago, like, wayyyy before you did.”
he brought the burger to his mouth, took another bite: “yup. got it.”
“okay then,” you took a deep breath, “i don’t like jeon jungkook, it was all because you misunderstood me, and thought i had a crush on you- which i do not!” you hear a soft chuckle leave his mouth. dude? “what are you laughing about.”
he swallows his bite. “nothing, you go on.”
“i’m wondering if you can go explain this to jeon jungkook….for me?”
he looks up at you once again. “why should i go explain this to him? you should go yourself.” gosh, he is insufferable. “i really would love to! but i’ve asked to see him multiple times, but he says he is busy every single time!”
another light chuckle.
“don’t even laugh.” you feel humiliated, what is the matter? “i’m being deadly serious, can you literally take me seriously?”
“do you know why you can never seem to ask him out?” the boy stares into your eyes with a hinting glance that you don’t specifically like.
you’re so confused, “no, i don’t know. but that’s literally not the point.”
“well, here’s the point.” he sips his coke and swiftly reaches into his backpack to take out his id, handing it to you. you take the id into your hands and stare at it for a while. “huh?”
then is hits you, you don’t even know this guy's name. your eyes glance over the id, from the photo to his name..back to his id. his warm dark brown hair looking soft, his doe eyes are soft and very, very pretty. a mole at the tip of his nose, and one very visible mole perfectly under his pouty lips. did you mention he has a perfect smile?
you almost get sucked into the photo when you realise something. huh?
you unwillingly unglue your eyes from the id and place them onto the face that is currently in front of you. he has the same smile from the id on his face right now. “what does your id mean?” he runs a hand through his perfect locks, “you still don’t know my name?”
something in you clicked. “why are you also named jeon jungkook??” this time, he lets out an even bigger laugh. “i’m the jeon jungkook.” you feel slightly sick. “.....what.”
“who did you even think jeon jungkook was then?”
“i don’t know??? i told you i’m just pretending to like this jeon jungkook person…”
jungkook raises an eyebrow, “you’re not doing much background check before pretending to like them, huh?”
his eyes still fixed on you, now with a teasing tone:” actually you misunderstood in the first place, i never thought you even had a crush on me, until you came up to me and told me that you like this jeon jungkook guy. i was utterly confused, like i thought you were using some creative way to confess to me, get my attention or something.”
“oh my gosh i did not!” you feel so much embarrassment for yourself, even second-hand embarrassment at this point. jungkook continued: “and then i thought maybe you liked one of my friends, but just got the name wrong. but every single time when i bumped into you, you always seemed to be looking at me first, right?”
all the blood rushed from your body to your face, and you felt your cheeks flush up. “did not!!!”
“sure did, doll.”
“no! see! like it’s all a misunderstanding! you have mistaken me for liking you. it’s not that deep.” you realise you’re extremely loud, causing you to lower your voice to a more softer tone.
“yeah, yeah, whatever you say.” you huff in disagreement, then you realised that you’re not only here to get these words straight but to also admit that you do like him a tad bit….not deny it completely!
“then who’s number did you give me?”
“mine.”
“okay, so you’ve been playing me”
“hm?”
“you knew i must’ve gotten something muddled up, but you still text me every day? you’re still giving me snacks? you’re still flirting with me?”
“that’s me being polite,” he mumbled under his breath.
“okay so you do this with everyone.”
“i don’t normally take stuff from other people, or give my number or whatever?”
“then why me?”
“since you’re the one with the biggest crush on me, so i had to be quite courteous.”
“no. shut up.”
you can’t get yourself to be convinced that you don’t like him, just like how you couldn’t convince yourself that he doesn’t think you had a fat schoolgirl crush on him.
you don’t know what jeon jungkook wants from you!
after that conversation, it’s like he’s even more convinced that you are in love with him. every time you enter the lunch hall, he spots you instantly, raises an eyebrow gesturing for you to sit next to the empty seat next to him. (as if saying: “here’s your chance to sit next to me, babe.”) when you ran into him in the campus library, he would knit his brows and playfully ask something like “how did you know i was going to be here?”
as if you’re tracking his location or something!!
the next basketball game came very soon. the day of the basketball game you had received a text from him giving you the time of the game and what court it was going to be at bright and early. as if he was certain you were going to go, douche.
well…that afternoon you showed up with a baseball cap, trying to hide in the crowd. there were way more people this time, how is that even possible? when you got to lay your eyes on him, he was on his phone in the corner, while his teammates were warming up. a little delusional thought popped up in your head. he’s probably sending you a text message…? a notification sound ruined your thought. you feel the corners of your mouth slowly raise as you pulled out your phone from the butt pocket of your jeans.
“Hey! It’s Duolingo.
Make your screen time count. Take a quick Japanese lesson.”
what. you feel a little irritated as you lock your screen and before aggressively shoving your phone back into your pocket, you raise your head to search for jungkook when you meet eyes with him. you didn’t even have to search for him, he was already eyeing you.  his eyes teasingly dart from you to your phone in your hand. dude.
you were fantasizing about yourself receiving a “where are you” text so you can hit him with a simple and petty  “i’m not coming”!!!!
he went straight into warming up after that short exchanging looks with you, one shot and the crowd of girls starts cheering like there’s no tomorrow. try hard. attention seeker. show off. you think to yourself when you shoot him a dirty glance from the crowd. it’s like he catches that look instantly, jungkook hands the ball to his teammates, and goes back to sitting on the bench in silence. you smile to yourself.
the game finishes and you drag nayeon to sprint out of the court before the herd of people makes it extra difficult. this time, another notification.
jung fking kook : group dinner, u and ur friend wanna come?
you stop in your tracks and text back: nah, i dont even know your friends.
text sent. you and nayeon start walking back when footsteps of someone running up from behind distract you. a large hand grabs your arm and turns you around in a swift motion.
there he stood, still slightly glowy after the intense game. his eyes looked extra soft and bright under the road light. “let’s go together?”
how can you ever reject him?
you, nayeon and jungkook went to a hot pot eatery nearby, and you wondered the entire way there if would be so darn awkward when you saw his friends. but thank god, they were way too energetic, to the point they almost didn’t even see you three walk in. jungkook insisted on introducing you to his friends, making sure each and one of his friends greeted you. you leaned closer to him and muttered “how do you know my name?” he whispered back. “not everyone is like you y/n.”
that’s when you figured, maybe he did not tell his friends about the ridiculous things you’ve said and done, since all of them greeted you and nayeon with large smiles. that calmed you down a whole lot. except the blonde boy, park jimin. he seemed like he wanted to jokingly say something, but swallowed his words when jungkook gave him a good glance.
after dinner, nayeon made some excuses and said she had to leave early while shooting you many knowing looks and childish eyebrow raises. you stand outside of the restaurant while the boys pay the check. this night has never felt so calm on your skin before. you wanted to say bye to jungkook before leaving. but the second the boys came out of the restaurant, the same warm hand placed itself on your arm. “i’ll walk you back.”
okay. it’s only like 5 minutes but whatever.
there were more people than you expected on the road. usually, you will not pay any attention to the people passing by but maybe because you were walking with jungkook tonight, it seemed like every goddamn couple in the world was next to you two. and everyone recognised jeon jungkook. of course, they did.
he grabbed your hand gently and decided to walk into a dark alleyway. you’ve never realised how nice his hands felt wrapped around your own. in the darkness, you can hear his faint breathing next to you. “lulu used to hunt for mice here.” he broke the comfortable silence.
you never knew he started addressing her as lulu too.
“and she had a lover that lived in one of these houses, they used to hang out here,” you added.
“y/n, how do you even know that?”
“i told you i was feeding lulu way before you.” you comment, this is totally a competition now.
you hear him lightly laugh in the darkness.
the 5-minute walk took at least double the time to get there, some streetlights outside your dorm are old and broken, causing a dim-lit atmosphere. you spot a couple on the side of the street making out. if you walked even closer, you could probably even hear the sickening sounds. jungkook looked extra calm as if he could not hear anything, he walked you to the door and spoke. “you’re here.”
you don’t know what to reply to that.
“right. i’m home.”
and he turned and walked away.
???
“that’s it?”
“that’s fucking it?:”
nayeon just opened a bag of barbeque chips, getting ready to hear about everything that went down, preparing to be surprised. she sighed to herself. she didn’t even get to get comfortable on your bed!
“he didn’t say anything? you two didn’t even hug?”
you thought to yourself before answering, “we talked about lulu. and that's it.”
“oh my days.” nayeon shakes her head in disapproval “he introduced you to his friends, what is in that little head of his?!”
“i genuinely don’t know.” you feel a twinge of sadness growing in your chest, “maybe we overanalyzed this.”
if this is what it feels like to like somebody, you’d rather stay single for the rest of your life.
you decided to have a good, relaxing shower to get your mind off things. when getting into your bed, you receive a text.
jung fking kook: breakfast tmrw?
you did not feel like replying, leaving the message read.
jung fking kook: or lunch? both?
you felt so aggravated, your fingers moving so fast to type your thoughts out without thinking about what you wanted to say.
y/n: you’re so bloody confusing, are you currently demonstrating to me how a guy acts when they know a girl likes them or are you showing me what a guy does when they actually like someone? because this is getting so damn tiring for me, jungkook.
no emojis. you’re letting him know this is bloody serious.
the grey typing icon pops up from the bottom of the screen, then disappears.
audio message.
you almost jump off your bed to grab your earphones. popping the earbuds into your ears, you hear the familiar voice. before the voice could even warm your heart up, it felt like a cold splash of water in your face instead.
“hey, look im so sorry, i just- i just don’t know how to tell you this.”
rejection tastes great, doesn’t it!
another audio message followed up. you disconnected your earphones, you do not have time for this rejection anymore.
jung fking kook: listen to it.
y/n: i’m tired. goodnight.
after typing the “good night” message out, you felt your curiosity eating you up. you pop an earbud into your ear, and press play.
“you’re correct, this is exactly what i’m doing. what a guy does when they genuinely like somebody.” you gasp and before you could even reply, an incoming call from jungkook comes in.
“hi.”
“hi.”
“did you open it?”
you didn’t know how to respond. you panicked. are you going to say yeah i heard you just say you like me or are you going to play dumb like no bro what did u say haha
“yeah.”
“i knew it.”
“okay jungkook.”
“i’m downstairs.”
“you’re what?!”
“yeah. come down.”
jeon jungkook is going to be the death of you. (end)

what would you do? - c. alcaraz
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
author's note: it is not my first time writing smut but it's been a long time since I've done it. So sorry for any mistakes or bad wording.
summary: Carlos faces his female nemesis, who happens to be a WTA player, in a brutally honest and steamy training session
wc: 2,7k
warnings: +18 content, smut, fingering, protected sex (play safe! put it on!), riding, filthy as fuck
Roland Garros 2023
It all began with a seemingly routine press conference, and honestly, I thought nothing of it. I was still riding the high from my last match, feeling confident and ready. Adriana was next up, and I’d heard she was having a stellar tournament so far. So when she walked into the room, I was just another player waiting for my turn at the podium.
The press conference kicked off, and the questions were flying fast. Adriana started speaking about her training regimen, the hard work she’d put in. Then, I remember that time we shared space at the gym for a strength routine. I couldn’t keep my thoughts out about how she looked that day. Her concentration making her look exquisite and the way the sweat was shining on every inch of her soft-looking skin. Due to the memories and quite out of nowhere, I made a strange noise—like a half-chuckle, half-clearing-my-throat kind of sound. It wasn’t intentional but it came out as a reaction to my memories of her and as an attempt to calm myself. The image had been stuck in my mind, and I guess it just slipped out.
But what I hadn’t realized was how it came across. Adriana’s head snapped toward me, her eyes flashing with irritation. The room went quiet, all eyes on us. I felt the heat rise in my face. I hadn’t meant to insult her, not in the slightest. It was just a stupid, misplaced reaction.
The media seized on it, turning it into a headline: Carlos Alcaraz mocks Adriana’s training. Suddenly, a harmless moment was spun into a full-blown feud. Adriana began avoiding me, keeping her distance, and every interaction felt charged with tension. What had been a simple comment turned into something far more complicated, and no matter how many times I tried to smooth things over, it only seemed to make matters worse.
I couldn’t figure out why it bothered me so much. It wasn’t just the rivalry—it was the fact that something so small had escalated into this ongoing, uncomfortable dynamic.
Roland Garros 2024
Here I was again, one year later. The grounds were buzzing with the usual excitement. My game was sharp, my confidence high, but today felt about more than just a practice. When I saw Adriana around the venue, I quickly made up my mind about confronting her. We really needed to sort out the ridiculous misunderstanding that led us to this “enemies” dynamic. I hated having that type of reaction on her. I really hated it, well except when she pierced me with those fierce green eyes. At those times, I couldn’t help but feel like a teenager with crazy hormones.
I arrived at the court for the private training session, and she was already there. Doing some rallies with her coach. Her hair, surprisingly, was down displaying her light brown strands. It looked so soft it made want to grab it.
Five seconds on her presence and I was already this worked up, I really needed to start focusing.
I called my team over, keeping my voice low so she wouldn’t hear. “You guys head out. I’ve got this.”
They looked at me, confused, but didn’t argue. They knew better. One by one, they packed up and left, leaving me alone on the court. I watched her as they disappeared, and just like I expected, she glanced over.
She wasn’t stupid. She knew exactly what was happening.
To my surprise, she didn’t hesitate. With a quick head movement to her own team, she motioned for them to leave as well. They looked just as confused as mine had, but they didn’t ask questions. When they were gone, it was just the two of us.
The tension and the heat travelling through my body was immediate.
She picked up her racket, gave me a smirk, and walked to the baseline of my court. “So, what’s this about, Carlitos? Are you here to teach how to train properly?”
Her tone was playful, but I could feel the heat behind it. We weren’t kids anymore. Whatever had been brewing between us back then? It wasn’t going away. If anything, it was stronger now. More dangerous.
I shrugged, coming with an answer to match her question. “I’m sure I could teach you a few things”
The court suddenly felt much larger with just the two of us. The quiet settled around us, and I could feel my pulse pick up. It was like the air between us shifted. Heavier.
We kept rallying, the sound of the ball filling the silence, but it was different now. Every glance, every movement, had weight to it. I could see the way her breath quickened after each shot, the way she’d pause just a second longer before serving, as if she was aware of me watching her every move.
And damn it, I was.
Her ball, that I could have easily returned, turned into a point on her favor. She noticed that I was distracted and by the look she gave me, I knew she knew my reasons.
She stepped closer to the net after her shot, and I did the same, barely noticing how the ball stopped bouncing, the match forgotten. We were both breathing heavier now, but it wasn’t from the workout. I could feel her presence, feel the heat rolling off her, and suddenly, I wasn’t thinking about tennis at all.
“Distracted?” she put her hands on the hem of the net, getting closer to me and leaving her cleavage straight to my eyesight.
I was trying very hard to control the impulse of throwing myself all over her so I just shared the truth “Pretty much”.
“What if we play a game?” the mischief in her eyes sent a shiver down my spine.
This girl was dangerous. But this was the danger I liked. So if she was going to be shameless, then this was a game for two. I nodded and she began to explain.
“We are going to start a rally and at every point you win, you get to ask me a question; and vice versa”
“Okay, nic-“ she cut me off.
“But if you don’t want to answer to the question you have to take off a piece of clothing” her gaze expectant to my reaction. “Not the shoes, though. I don’t want you to break and ankle”
I started walking backwards, with my arms spreading, inciting her. “Bring it on, Adriana”
The first serve flew across the net, sharp and fast, landing just inside the baseline. Adriana’s return was quick and powerful. I sent a strong forehand cross-court, watching her sprint to catch it. She was good. Too good. But there was a flicker in her movements, the smallest hesitation when I moved up to the net, her eyes locking on mine for just a second too long. That was all I needed.
She missed the ball, and it sailed past her, bouncing off the back fence.
“One down,” I said, my voice low but teasing. “Do you really hate me?”
She laughed and lifted her t-shirt to dry her forehead, leaving her belly on display “No”
“Then why d-“ she left my words hanging again.
“Ah-ah, that’s not how it works Alcaraz” her head moving side to side cheekily. “Be brighter next time”
The next point was fast, both of us hitting with more force than necessary, trying to keep the upper hand. But this time, I lost focus, my mind more on her than on the game. She took advantage of it, hitting a perfect shot down the line that I couldn’t reach in time.
Her turn.
“Have you ever taken some of your personal time to watch a game of mine?”
She knew what she was doing. She already knew the physical effect she had in me and now she was trying to find out if I kept her on my mind.
She walked to the net, stopping just inches from me. “Well? What’s it going to be? Are you going to answer the question or…?”
I gave me her a slow, deliberate look, then—without a word—reached for the bottom of my shirt and tugged it over my head. My well-formed abdominals instantly showing and tan looking better under the sun rays. I saw how her breath caught for a second.
“That’s enough for you?” I asked, my voice smooth.
She swallowed, trying to keep her cool. “For now.”
I lost the next point, a backhand going wide.
I saw her leaving her racket on the bench and the way her hips swung while walking towards the net, had me hypnotized. She moved her finger on a “come here” motion and I did.
“Are you brave enough to take off my t-shirt?”
This woman was going to be the end of me. At this point, I was not taking care of controlling my hormones and that was starting to note under my pants. I didn’t know how I would react the moment my fingers touched her skin, but my desire made me get closer to her immediately.
Her gaze was on mine all the time and at the moment I traced her waist with my fingertips, she bit her lower lip. I couldn’t help but release a lust filled pant. I raised the fabric until it was resting on top of her breasts, and I let my hands there for a moment, holding the sides of her rib cage. I looked down and it was undoubtedly the worst idea I’ve had in my life. Ironic, considering that I was having the greatest sight I’ve ever seen.
At that moment, something snapped in my head and all I could think was “fuck it”.
“What would you do if I kissed you right now?”
“That’s not fair” she put her hands at the nape of my hair, leaving us mere inches apart “It’s not your turn”
I could sense that she was saying that just to control herself so when I saw her licking her lips, I didn’t think about it twice. I leaned in; one arm on the net, the other enclosing her waist, pulling her even closer.
The moment our lips met, electricity shot through me, white-hot and consuming. Her lips were soft, but the kiss was anything but gentle. It was fierce, hungry—like we’d been holding this in for far too long.
Her hands found their way to my chest, nails scratching my pectorals. I couldn’t help but press my bulge to her hips and she left a moan on my mouth. I could feel her heat more than ever. The taste of her, the way her tongue moved against mine—it was intoxicating, better than I’d ever imagined.
And I had imagined it. More times than I cared to admit.
I needed more—more of her. The net between us was the only thing keeping us apart so with one swift motion, I gripped her firmly, lifting her off the ground without breaking the kiss.
Her body reacted immediately. She wrapped her legs around my waist, pulling herself tighter against me, her arms circling around my neck. At this position, she could feel me directly on her core so she didn’t wait much until she started grinding against me.
While we were still kissing, I started to walk us to one of the facilities built, for leaving our personal belongings, right next to the courts. During the way, Adriana moved her lips from my mouth to my neck and I almost tripped with my own feet. Her tongue followed her lips and she soon started giving small bites until she reached my ear lobe.
“You’re aggravating” she whispered looking into my eyes when we sat on the bench where I left my stuff.
“And why is that, honey?” now I was the one taking good care of her neck. I found a sweet spot of hers right under her chin and I had her moaning again.
“That day when you laughed at me” she was barely able to form sentences right now. “Y-you…”
“I didn’t laugh at you” my hand started trailing down her belly until it was placed on the hem of her skirt, my fingers surpassing the elastic but stopping there. “Do you wanna know what actually happened?”
“Y-yes but don’t stop”
Her neediness steered the fire within me even more and I complied her wishes. I kept my trail down, until I reached her wetness. I bit her jaw in response of knowing how much she desired me. With my fingers coated in her, I went up again and once I found her clit I started tortuously slow strokes over it.
“When you started talking about your gym routine all I could think about was how good your butt looked on those leggings you were wearing the time we trained together” I kept my ministrations, but I slowly entered her with two of my fingers turning her into a moaning mess. “About how badly I wanted to fuck you right there and then”
Her only response was arching her back leaving her breasts right at the height of my mouth. I started to give sloppy kisses and bites to the flesh that was sticking out the sport bra. The sounds she was making were sending me to another dimension and my dick was throbbing so hard that I was afraid she could feel it.
“I want you to fuck me here and now” she paraphrased my previous words.
I could feel my heart racing in my throat, my voice hoarse and needy “At your commands, reina”
With our lips and tongues having a full battle into a kiss, I reached my backpack. Right now, I was thanking that friend of mine that told me to always carry a condom on my wallet. When she saw what I had in hand she took it. Now she was the one slipping her hand through the waistband of his pants. When she palmed me over my underwear, I had to focus hardly on not cuming. She freed me and despite I was hard as a rock she gave me two strokes before putting on the condom.
“I knew you were big” she shamelessly said before licking my lower and upper lip. “Those white shorts are quite revealing”
I couldn’t stand it anymore, so I pushed the skirt and panties aside. She noticed I was on the edge, so she grabbed me and introduced it in herself. When she sat down completely, we both let out a satisfied grunt. Immediately, we reach for each other’s lips. There was something wild about the kiss we were having and we both felt it. The way we were sucking and biting each other's lips relentlessly and the way she was moving above me. Our skin rubbing together hard and the sound of us colliding making us both moan uncontrollably.
I then grabbed her tightly by the flesh of her hips, the movements double in speed and when my member reached the exact point inside her, I could see how her eyes rolling back. The pitiful sound out of her lips confirmed it to me and I started hitting the spot relentlessly. My stamina allowing me to increase the rhythm and depth even more, making us lose our minds.
“Touch yourself” I commanded her, and her dutifulness drove me dangerously near to the orgasm.
After a few more minutes of giving everything in us to please the other, we combusted into each other’s bodies trying to extend as much as possible the pleasure wave we were in. When our breathing pace slowed down, I grabbed her chin to make her look into my eyes and then we melted into a soft and delicate kiss.
“So, we can call it a truce?” I teased her when she snuggled up against my chest and I managed to get the sweetest laugh out of her lips.

NOTES— Just some random head cannons about Katsuki Bakugo ;3 Will probably write something on a few of them in the future..
Tumblr media
When he's wearing his hearing aids he will purposely take them off as you ramble and pretend he’s listening by answering like: “mhmm” “no, no yeah” “totally”
I like to think that he's not a natural blonde but actually a brunette who bleaches and tones his hair just to look more like his mom.
He goes into his dorm room to “sleep early” but in reality, he stays up late using his phone.
He's the type to nudge, push, hit you when he actually laughs at one of your jokes
Since his hearing is impaired..whenever he listens to music inside his dorm room its always at maximum volume. Despite the UA dorms being soundproof you can still faintly hear it through the walls.
He HATES celebrating his birthday, he thinks its too corny and unnecessary but you and the rest of the class do it anyways.
When the opportunity is right he makes “that's what she said” jokes since he finds them a bit funny.
He hates physical touch but makes a SMALL exception for you. But when he deems it to be too much for him he’ll gently push you off and roll his eyes. “Okayy..knock it off" "That's enough"
He would invite himself into your dorm room, but god forbid you come into his without his permission.
When he invites you to cook with him he doesn't mean help him prepare the food, he just wants you to sit prettily and watch him cook.
He pretends to act annoyed but secretly loves it when you eat whatever he makes.
Just because he tolerates you doesn't mean you've escaped the name-calling.
He would be a heavy sleeper because of his hearing impairment, so if you wake him up he would get a bit startled but quickly change his demeanor so you won't see view as “weak.”
He has a secret sweet tooth and will secretly indulge in sugary snacks, but he'll get defensive and deny it if you catch him.
Has a strong habit of aggressively correcting others grammar or pronunciation, even if its just a minor mistake.
He's a bit of a germaphobe and would go out of his way to avoid touching things or shaking hands with people.
He hates the rain, not only because of his quirk but because of the thunder that sometimes comes with it. His hearing aids amplify the sound which forces him to take them off completely. Leaving him feeling a bit vulnerable.
He also hates the fact that bad weather makes his hearing aids malfunction. The static and cutting out frustrates him to no end.
He turns into such a geek when you talk about video games, heroes, and manga. When he notices how nerdy he starts to sound he shuts up completly.
Has an inferiority complex but..also a superiority complex somehow..??

Ghost - Oscar Piastri x UnknownDriver! Reader Part 7
Plot: Reader is the first female F1 driver of the century, however no-one knows that as you are a ghost on the grid. You started in 2022, coming in P12 in the championship. You get moved to Red Bull Racing in 2023 with the off year for Sergio Perez.
Warnings: Talk of reader taking anti-depressants etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Things were … awkward with Liam after that, you were actively trying to avoid him along with everyone else on the race weekend. You were in the car, driving round the formation lap and you really couldn’t be bothered. Your engineer wasn’t communicating with you, you didn’t even know what strategy you guys were going for.
“Y/N, just doesn’t seem with it today does she?” One of the commentators asks looking at you were basically chugging along. Anyone watching would have thought you were in a Williams not a RedBull.
“No Karun I think she’s had a bad weekend all round, with the team and qualifying it’s just not felt like anything’s gone the way she would like” Crofty sighs and all of a sudden Max’s car starts slowing down.
The pack was still quite tight so even though you were 17th it didn’t take long for you to drive past Max’s car, completely out of reflex you stick your middle finger up at him. If this was DNF which it looked like it would be with the smoke coming out the car you now had reason to push.
“And Max Verstappen is OUT. He’s retired from the 2024 Australia Grand Prix” Crofty shouts.
“And what’s this, tension at RedBull, was I seeing that right or did Y/N stick her middle finger up?” Karun says replaying you driving past and from a few angles you can definitely see your middle finger rise spite the gloves being thick.
“I believe she did, I wonder what this means down at RedBull because all of a sudden it’s like Y/N has woken up and she’s off racing. Don’t worry guys, she was just warming up” Crofty says as he watches you go tearing around the corner.
You were picking up pace and in 6 laps you’d got yourself up to P12. A whole new wave of adrenaline washed over you and you were bussing. Your mind was going insane, no time to drink, no time for mistake. This right here was going to be your drive.
You pitted, with your own strategy at the same time as race leader Carlos Sainz, your Red Bull pit stop was also much quicker than his meaning you were released before him. This was great as now he was behind you, you had time to make up.
You looked after your tyres, making sure you kept your corners nice and clean and not bumping any track edges.
You’d eventually gotten yourself up into 6th place, and overtaking Stroll to get into P5 was say, but the gap to Oscar seemed too far.
“Gap to the McLaren?” You asked over radio.
“Which one?” You hear and if you didn’t have a helmet on and everyone could see your facial expression right now they would be laughing.
“What you mean which one? The one in front of me!” You say and some rustling occurs before you get your answer. 2.4 seconds. It was doable with 12 laps left. You overtook him with 6 laps left.
“What a phenomenal overtake from Y/L/N on Piastri and she’s not stoping there as she’s redeeming RedBull for todays race and she’s making sure McLaren aren’t up on that podium today. She’s overtaken Lando Norris and with that Carlos Sainz wins the Australian Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc makes that a 1-2 for Ferrari and Y/N Y/L/N completes the podium, after starting P17 and proving that RedBull need to extend her contract” Crofty screams as the race concludes.
As you pulled up in the podium spot, you sat in the car for a minute a little frazzled from the pushing you’d just done.
It isn’t until Lando comes and taps your helmet lightly that you look up at him with a soft smile, not that he could see it. You pull yourself up out the car and Lando pulls you in for a hug, patting your back before walking off to get weighed. Charles and Carlos come up to you, big grins on their faces.
“You did incredible!” Charles compliments and pulls you in for a hug, you take your helmet and balaclava getting weighed straight away as they both pull you over. You look over your shoulder noticing that none of the Red Bull team are there. It’s a sea of red, which you expected but you thought at least your race engineer and trainer would come along.
Not a Red Bull uniform in sight.
You went up onto the podium alone, a half assed smile on your face and Charles and Carlos were too caught up in celebrating their 1-2 with the mechanic who came up with them to take the Team Award left you spraying open air. You took a chug from the bottle off the the left while Charles and Carlos celebrated before spraying the Ferrari team below, what caught your eye, was in the sea of a red, a blue ad white RB hat. Over a head of blonde hair it was the unmistakable sight of Liam Lawson who was grinning up at you and waving happily.
He’d come to celebrate your podium, he was in fact the only one there celebrating for you. You send I’m a nod, that to Liam, spoke more than 1000 words but he knew from you was just a ‘thank you’ gesture.
You left Australia a little disheartened with the team, not having the energy to get into an argument with the team, Christian or Max. You ended up going back to the UK and staying with your parents for a while.
The worst thing about it all? No-one but Liam had reached out to you after the race. You’d even expected Lando to send you another congrats but no-one messaged you.
You felt so alone and you did the dumbest thing you think you’ve ever done and you went live on instagram. You were sat at your work desk in your spare bedroom in your parents house.
“Hey guys!” You try smile, but it comes out half arsed. Your team hoodie is pulled up over your head, covering your messy and unwashed hair.
“Why have I gone live? Erm, I’m not really too sure, I just come home to my parents and they’ve both gone to work so I’m kind of alone” you answer softly.
“Yeah, so I guess you guys can just hang with me? Ask me some questions, yeah I’d like that” you smile and you notice a comment that kind of shocks you.
“You haven’t seemed happy at all this year? What’s been going on?” You read and sigh.
“Don’t know just been a tough season, but it doesn’t matter we’ve had good results” you explain and loads of people start saying they want ghost back.
“Yeah, sometimes I want ghost back too guys” you sadly laugh, looking down before wiping across your mouth with he cuff of your sleeve.
“Room Tour? I can do that, there isn’t much here because this is y childhood bedroom guys so you can’t laugh at any of the stuff in here okay?” You say, happy that they’ve started to talk about normal topics again. You start to show them round your old room, showing the double bed, with the motorsport posters to the left, everyone in chat laughing over your Jenson Button poster. What you didn’t notice was your medical tube of anti-depressants on the side that got in shot as you were showing an old Grand Tour magazine you had.
‘Pills? Girlie you okay?’
‘Damn is she doping?’
‘Nah she got them meds, love a healthy girlie’
‘Bro no wonder both her and Lando get on so well’
Once you see the comments roll in you try to act as natural as possible but its like people know that your actively avoiding stuff about the pills.
“Okay guys I think that’s all I have time for today. But… I’ll see you next race weekend in Japan.
You got into bed after that curling up, overthinking how you could be so stupid as to not put them away and show them on livestream, while another man was just as shocked as the rest of the livestream viewers.
“Did you know?” Oscar messaged Lando immediately after he checked twitter and TikTok seeing people dig too far into your personal life by zooming in and blowing up the picture of the orange bottle to see the name of the meds.
Sertraline
After a quick google he knew what they were used for.
“No mate and I’m just as worried as you are” Lando replied and now Oscar couldn’t help but feel like he was all to blame for this. Everyone thought he was so calm and mature on track, but with you and the situation you guys faced he was anything but that and he regretted everything he said to you.
But he knew he wasn’t the only thing causing this, you were stronger than that, which is why he needed Lando’s help.
