THE PEOPLES PRINCESS
Reader x feyd rautha smut
Summary: you get married off by your father to secure alliances. Despite you knowing your new husbands reputation, you finds yourself drawn to him.
➽─────────────────────❥
As you stepped onto the arid planet of Arrakis, the sun beat down relentlessly, casting harsh shadows across the shifting dunes. You, a princess, were escorted by your father, the ruler of your home planet, to marry the infamous Feyd Rautha. Your first encounter with Feyd was chilling. He stood tall and imposing, his eyes cold as they met yours. You couldn't help but feel a shiver run down your spine at the intensity of his gaze.
Throughout the preparations for the wedding, Feyd remained distant, barely acknowledging your presence. Amidst the bustling preparations, your father sought you out, his regal bearing softened by a look of paternal concern. He approached you with a tenderness that belied his stoic exterior, his eyes filled with a mixture of pride and sadness.
"My dear," he began, his voice gentle yet tinged with gravity, "today, you embark on a new journey, one that will shape the course of your destiny."
You met his gaze, a swirl of emotions churning within you. "Father," you replied, your voice barely above a whisper, "I know not what the future holds, but I will face it with courage and grace."
A faint smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he reached out to grasp your hand. "You are a beacon of strength and resilience, my child," he said, his voice filled with pride. "No matter what lies ahead, remember that you are never alone."
Tears welled in your eyes as you embraced him.
Your wedding gown, made from the finest silks and embellished with gorgeous lace and brilliant gems, was a vision of grandeur and elegance. Its flowing procession, glistening in the intense desert sun, followed you like a moonlit river. As you stood in the grand hall, waiting for the wedding ceremony to begin you couldn't shake the feeling of dread that gnawed at the edges of your consciousness, knowing that once the ceremony commenced, there would be no turning back.
But amidst the fear, there was a glimmer of hope. Perhaps, against all odds, this union with Feyd would bring you the happiness and fulfillment you had always longed for. But you know the man that will soon be your husband is no kind man. But as you stood before him at the altar, his eyes locked onto yours with a fierce determination. When he leaned in to kiss you, you felt a rush of lust.
On your wedding night, as the grandeur of the ceremony faded into the intimacy of the chambers, you found yourself alone with Feyd. The flickering candlelight casting shadows across the room, adding to your senses heightened.
Feyd, with his usual air of confidence, approached you. His eyes, sharp and penetrating, seemed to pierce through the facade you tried so desperately to maintain. He noticed the tremble in your hands, the uneasiness that lingered in your of your gaze.
"You're scared," he observed, his voice a low, rumbling growl that sent a shiver down your spine.
You nodded, unable to deny the truth of his words. "I am," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. Feyd closed the distance between you, his presence startling in its intensity, his lips twisted into a knowing smile. He said, "Fear can be a powerful motivator," with an a hint of humor in his voice. "But it can also be mastered."
With a swift yet gentle motion, he reached out to cup your face, his touch surprisingly tender against your skin. His eyes bore into yours with an unwavering gaze, as if daring you to challenge him, to defy the inevitable.
Feyd's eyes raked over your body, his gaze lingering on the curve of your hips and the swell of your breasts.
His voice was low and husky, his words a command.
"Strip." The word hung in the air like an order, leaving no room for negotiation or hesitation. You hesitated briefly before complying with Feyd's demand. You unbuttoned your dress, letting it fall to the floor in a pool of fabric. Underneath you wore nothing but lace underwear and stockings that accentuated every curve on your body.
Feyd's eyes roamed over your body, his gaze intense and unwavering. "I want you to know that I am not a man who will be gentle with you," he said in an even tone as if it were simply stating the obvious.
"I will take what I want, and you are to do as I say." The words hung in the air like a threat.
His gaze was intense, his voice commanding. You couldn't help but feel a sense of unease at the way he spoke to you. The words were harsh and demanding, leaving no room for negotiation or compromise.
You stood there, your heart pounding in your chest as you tried to process what he had just said. The weight of his words hung heavy on the air between us and for a moment | felt trapped by them.
"I understand," you said, your voice barely above a whisper.
"I will do as you say." The words were barely out of your mouth before Feyd's hand was on the back of your neck, his grip firm and unyielding.
He pulled you closer to him, his lips finding yours in a kiss that was both demanding and possessive. His tongue invaded your mouth with an almost brutal forcefulness as he claimed it for himself.
His other hand found its way to your breast, his fingers pinching and twisting the nipple until you gasped in pain.
The pain was sharp and intense, but it also sent a strange rush of pleasure through you. You found yourself responding to his touch in ways that surprised even you.
His hands roamed over your body, exploring every curve and crevice as if he were mapping out a territory. He pulled you closer to him until his hardness was pressed against the soft folds of your sex.
You could feel the heat radiating from him, his desire for you palpable. His hands moved down to your hips and he lifted you up so that only the tip of his cock was inside you.
He held you there, teasingly close to the edge of pleasure. "Do you want this?" he asked in a low voice that sent shivers down your spine.
"Do you want me to take what I need from you?" The words were a command, not a question. The words were barely out of your mouth before Feyd's grip on you tightened and he thrust into you with a force that left you gasping for air. He fucks you hard and fast, his hips slamming into you with a force that left your body trembling. The pain was intense but it only seemed to fuel the fire of desire burning within him as he continued to fuck you relentlessly.
You could feel the wetness between your legs, a testament to how turned on you were by his rough treatment.
His hands roamed over your body, leaving bruises and marks that would be a reminder of this night for days to come.
Days passed after the wedding night, and you found yourself adjusting to life as the wife of Feyd Rautha. One evening, as you sat alone in the grand hall of the palace, Feyd approached you with a quietly. His usual stoic demeanor softened slightly as he took a seat beside you, his presence commanding yet strangely comforting.
“May I join you?" he asked, his voice low and gravelly, betraying a hint of vulnerability beneath the surface.
You nodded, surprised by his sudden display of openness. "Of course," you replied, unable to hide the shyness in your voice.
For a moment, silence hung heavy between you, the only sound the soft rustle of fabric and the distant hum of activity within the palace walls. And then, with a hesitant sigh, Feyd spoke, his words measured yet tinged with emotion. "I know I am not what you expected," he began, his gaze fixed on some distant point beyond the horizon. "I am not known for my warmth or compassion, but know that I will do everything in my power to protect you, to keep you safe from harm."
"I believe you husband," you replied softly, reaching out to place a reassuring hand on his arm.

Forbidden Bonds
masterlist ! pairing Feyd-Rautha x reader
SUMMARY : Y/n is Princess Irulan sister and she falls in love with Feyd Rautha
Dune Masterlist
Tumblr media
In the opulent halls of the Imperial Palace on Kaitain, Princess Y/N, sister to Princess Irulan, found herself drawn to a figure that stood at the center of intrigue and danger—Feyd-Rautha, the enigmatic heir of House Harkonnen.
As the daughter of the Emperor, Y/N was accustomed to a life of privilege and duty, her every move dictated by the expectations of her royal lineage. But in the shadows of the palace corridors, she found herself yearning for something more—a taste of freedom, a glimpse of passion.
One fateful evening, as she attended a lavish gala in honor of her sister's betrothal to another nobleman, Y/N's eyes met Feyd-Rautha's across the crowded ballroom. There was an intensity in his gaze, a magnetism that drew her in like a moth to a flame.
Approaching him with cautious steps, Y/N found herself ensnared by the allure of his presence. "Feyd-Rautha," she began, her voice barely above a whisper, "you are a mystery I am eager to unravel."
Feyd-Rautha, with his customary confidence, offered her a charming smile. "And you, Princess Y/N, are a vision of beauty that has captured my heart."
In the midst of the swirling dancers and whispered conversations, Y/N and Feyd-Rautha found themselves drawn into a dance unlike any other. Their movements were fluid, their gazes locked in a silent exchange that spoke volumes of the forbidden attraction that simmered between them.
As the music swelled and the world faded away, Y/N and Feyd-Rautha found themselves lost in each other's arms—a fleeting moment of freedom amidst the constraints of their respective worlds.
But their stolen moment of passion was not to last. As whispers of their clandestine encounter spread through the palace, Y/N's father, the Emperor, grew increasingly suspicious of her affections.
Confronted by her father's disapproval, Y/N was torn between duty and desire, between the expectations of her station and the longing of her heart. But in Feyd-Rautha's arms, she found a sanctuary—a refuge from the pressures of her royal lineage.
"I cannot deny the pull I feel toward you, Feyd-Rautha," Y/N confessed, her voice trembling with emotion. "But our love is forbidden, a flame that threatens to consume us both."
Feyd-Rautha's gaze held a mixture of determination and longing. "I would defy the entire galaxy for you, Y/N. Our love may be forbidden, but it is also undeniable."
As the palace walls closed in around them, Y/N and Feyd-Rautha made a pact to defy the constraints of their worlds—to carve out a future where their love could flourish, unburdened by the expectations of others.
But as they stole one last embrace beneath the moonlit sky, they knew that the path ahead would be fraught with challenges and sacrifices. For in a world where power and politics reigned supreme, their love was a delicate flower, threatened by the looming shadows of betrayal and deceit.
Yet, as they parted ways, their hearts intertwined in a bond that transcended the boundaries of their worlds. For in each other's arms, Y/N and Feyd-Rautha found a love that was worth fighting for—a love that would defy empires and endure for eternity.

Paul Atreides x Reader Request: Yes Summary: Paul asks for the Emperor's eldest daughter's hand in marriage. Warnings: None, it's just pure fluff Word Count: 880 I don't own Dune or it's characters nor do I claim them as my own This is a short cute imagine, hope you all still love it x Comments likes, and reblogs are always adored and appreciated xx
Tumblr media
Paul stood tall as he saw the Emperor’s daughter approach him with a graceful smile. He had asked for her hand in marriage, which she happily accepted. Paul had grown up with the Emperor’s daughter when he would visit Kaitain with his father and mother. The lush planet was always beautiful, and Paul had grown to love it as he grew older. During his visits, he became closer to the Emperor’s eldest daughter. Princess Y/n. In their teenage years, they both grew to have a crush on one another. Their hearts would skip a beat; when their eyes locked, they would shine like the brightest stars in the night sky. Paul replayed their first meeting as Y/n climbed up the steps towards him.
Paul’s head tilted as he observed Y/n play a game with her younger sister, Irulan. Paul smiled as Y/n hid behind a tree before jumping out and picking up Irulan. The younger sister squealed in delight as Y/n spun around, seeing Paul Y/n let Irulan down as the sister ran to find their father. Y/n wandered over to Paul with a smile “My Lord Atreides”, she curtsied gently, her eyes looking up through her lashes, a slight smirk on her lips. Paul bowed his head with a sly grin “Princess Y/n”, he held her hand, kissing her knuckles. “You are very pretty today, Princess”, Paul complimented Y/n, blushing at his words, looping her arm with his; they both strolled down the cobblestone path. “Thank you, Lord Atreides, and you are very handsome today, “ she giggled as Paul blushed, talking endlessly about their favourite things. Both of them knew then their relationship was only just beginning.
Paul exhaled, slowly holding out his hand for Y/n to grasp. Her fingers delicately slid along his palm, joining his side. His bride sat beside him at the wedding table, and his mother and father sat at the end with Y/n’s sister Irulan and her other sisters, Wensicia, Chalice, Josifa and Rugi. Paul had never met her other sisters besides Irulan, but he could see where all the daughters got their beautiful looks. Their mother, but to him, Y/n was the prized gem in his eyes. He held his wife’s hand on the table; a smile graced his facial features. Admiring her beauty, his eyes turned to look around the grand hall. Watching everyone cheer and laugh at his wedding celebration. When Paul stood up, he offered his hand for Y/n to grab. As she stood beside him, Paul led her out of the grand hall and towards the entrance. Strolling through the halls together, Paul made a detour from their new chambers and turned in a different direction. “There is something I would like to show you.”
Paul led her to the Caladan gardens, covering Y/n’s eyes. She could hear the calm sounds of water trickling and birds tweeting in the moonlit sky. Paul stopped and told Y/n to keep her eyes closed before his arms wrapped around her waist. His lips ghosted over her neck, his nose trailing over her pulse towards her ear. His eyes watched her chest rise and fall, his hands sliding up her stomach and up towards her chest. Y/n gripped his hands. “There will be plenty of time for that, Paul” “ she giggled; a deep chuckle fell from Paul’s lips; he grinned. “Hmm, I can’t wait that long, but if I must. Until then, open your eyes, my wife,” he breathed, kissing her jaw as her eyes fluttered open, taking in the gardens before her. “This is beautiful, Paul. I’ve always heard such stories about the Caladan gardens. Our gardens at home don’t compare to yours” She turned to look at Paul with shining eyes. Paul smirked, laughing. “Oh, I don’t believe that; your gardens are just as beautiful. As are you,” he whispered as he bowed. “May I have this dance?” he asked; she smiled, nodding, holding his hand. “You may,” she said, placing her other hand on his shoulder. Paul wrapped his other arm around Y/n’s waist as they danced in a circle. The only sounds were the waterfalls and sounds of fauna surrounding them as the newlyweds shared their first dance.
The Duke and Lady Jessica watched from the shadows with smiles. “Our son chose well; he will be just fine.” Leto’s arm looped with Jessica’s, and the woman hummed in agreement. “He has, but then they were destined to be together, Leto. She is his other half, as he is hers.” She pulled Leto away as they rejoined the wedding celebrations. Paul and Y/n were once again alone, away from prying eyes.
Paul pressed his forehead against his wife’s; Y/n’s tender smile made him feel a thousand butterflies in his stomach. Fireflies danced around the husband and wife as Paul pulled her closer, breathing deeply and brushing his nose with hers. His eyes stared into hers lovingly.
“Careful there”, Y/n whispered. Paul chuckled lightly. “What do you mean?” Paul asked her with a slight smirk; his wife leaned in, her lips brushing his
“You look like you are falling in love” Paul licked his lips, his smirk broadening. “I already have, My Gem”

Desert Rain
post-overblot not-therapy-session with jamil and azul. cw: none besides jamil's sailor mouth also on ao3 gift for @basuralindo 🐙🐍
Kalim and his fucking parties.
Jamil had a half a mind to let Kalim get poisoned if it meant he’d never have another extravagant event dumped in his lap. Maybe he could fake his own death while was at it. Should it wait until after he finished college, or would it matter? Maybe he could enroll at another school under an assumed name.
Couldn’t be that hard. He’d been invisible his whole fucking life, after all.
“Still sulking?”
Jamil scowled, though only the shifting, moonlit sands could see it. “Leave me alone.”
Words had never stopped the approach of Insufferable Azul™️ before, and they didn’t stop him now. His cane pinged on the tile in time with the snap of his expensive shoes. Jamil wondered how bad it would be if he pitched forward from his perch on the window ledge just to escape this conversation. He could catch himself with wind magic. Probably.
He cringed at his own suggestion. He could still taste the bitter ink in his mouth. Forget magic. He should drop out, disappear, and take up underwater basket-weaving.
Azul had the sense to maintain a safe-ish distance and looked out at the desert below. “I was going to let you know there is plenty of food, but I suppose you would know, since you made most of it.”
Any other time, Jamil might have been able to mask his emotions. Instead, he snapped like the snake that carried his family name. “How about leave me the fuck alone, then? Need me to translate it into Fish while I’m at it?”
Azul gave a light, insufferable chuckle and rested his elbows on the ledge. “At least you are expressing yourself this time.”
Jamil gave a low growl, but he didn’t feel like engaging with this bastard, now or ever. Looking at landscapes was supposed to calm a person down, but all he could see was how the moon’s glow reflected on the pools and puddles glinting in the valleys of the dunes. Even now, he couldn’t escape Kalim.
He hated himself for being this dramatic about it.
“I wouldn’t expect a rich bitch like you to understand,” he said flatly.
Azul snickered. “Clever. I admire that.”
“Could you just go away?” Jamil’s anger was now fizzling into defeated exhaustion. He needed a vacation at any time, but now, more than ever, the fatigue was settling into his bones. It felt like someone had yanked away the stick propping him up and was now beating him with it. “I don’t have the energy for this.” Wow, another honest statement. What the hell was wrong with him? He’d tasted lies for so long that the truth had become a foreign language.
“I do not completely understand,” Azul said. “You are correct about that.” He shrugged. “But I have gathered enough information to support a hypothesis, if you’ll allow me.”
Back to being annoyed. “It’s a free country,” Jamil grumbled.
Azul turned around and leaned back against the wall so he could look sideways at Jamil, who was suddenly fascinated with the stitching on the inside of his hoodie and furiously avoiding eye contact. “You feel that Kalim has been holding you back,” he began. “With his status and incompetence, certainly - but even if he were capable of independence, you would be in the same situation, yes?”
Jamil didn’t answer that.
“Personally, I’ve found it a more constructive use of my time and energy to…make use of such people, if you will.”
“Good for you. I have not enjoyed this lesson on Bullshit 101. One star.”
Azul outright laughed. “See? It feels better to be yourself, doesn’t it?”
Jamil sighed. “What do you want, Azul?”
Azul tilted his head and flicked his gaze to the ceiling as if itemizing the answers. “Mmm, well, if we’re being specific-”
“From me.”
Azul’s eyes rolled over to look at him. “Would you believe I wanted to make sure you were alright?”
Jamil turned sideways on the white stone so he could lean back against the window frame and pull his knees to his chest. “I would believe you wanted to make sure there was something left to wring out of me.”
“Ehh, why bother?” Azul said dismissively. “You already know my weaknesses, and now I know yours. We’re even.” He shrugged again. “I also know what you’re capable of.”
Jamil gave a short, humorless laugh. “Yeah, see? I was right. Pay up.”
Azul took to examining the brilliant diamond in the head of his cane. All too recently, it had been the same burnt, oil-slick black as Jamil’s own magestone, but looking at it now revealed no trace of that. “We have a fair bit in common, like it or not. Feeling isolated, desperate…betrayed…” He sighed deeply. “The worst combination that can be imagined, in my opinion.”
There was little point in arguing.
“I am not going to offer you any hollow sentiments, Jamil. I merely wanted to ensure you were alright.”
“Yeah. You said.”
It got quiet. Jamil looked out at the desert again and saw less moonlight than before. Clouds were gathering and growing thick. No thunder, but he smelled the oncoming rain. Real weather, or real enough in their little dimension. Not the water Kalim managed to conjure up.
“What was it like?”
This time it was Azul to glance curiously at a question. Jamil looked contemplative. “What was what like?”
“Swimming through the desert.”
Certainly not the question Azul expected. “Unusual. Something I never would have thought possible. And something I will likely never experience again.”
“Mm.”
Jamil felt weird. Not really tongue-tied. More like all the knots had come untied and he didn’t know how to talk anymore. “Are there any stuffed dates left?” he asked awkwardly.
Azul squinted in the direction of the banquet tables. “No, it looks like Kalim ate them all. Why, did you want one?”
“No, I hate looking at them.”
Azul was surprised when Jamil laughed with him.
“What’s so funny?” Jamil asked through a smile he was trying desperately to conceal.
“I hate them, too.”
“Ha, I didn’t think you’d ever eaten anything but sushi and vegetables.”
Azul smiled slyly. “Perhaps I have the upper hand for the moment, then, if I know more about you than you about me.”
“Yeah, well, I know what foods those weirdos that follow you around happen to like, too.”
Azul was no longer smiling. “Really,” he said.
Jamil shrugged and looked out at the sprinkle of rain. It was making the low-lying pools glitter in what moonlight filtered down through the clouds. “Sure. The other day, Jade asked me if I had a recipe for octopus curry.”

Sender and receiver walk a moonlit path when sender picks a moon flower for the receiver. ( to make up for the flowers she crushed by being obnoxious and the worst )
Tumblr media
THE OCEAN IS NEAR, WAVES LAPPING AGAINST MONSTEROUS DUNES. An odd sound, if you've ever been to the beach of a lake or ocean, listening to the water crawl and fall back into it's basin. Unlike the regular lapping of waves. Regardless, the sound is soothing as Sulu and Amelia walk under the light of two moons, path illuminated in pale, yellow light.
They stop at a junction, a field of moon flowers populating the grounds. Their petals are turned up, smiling into the moon light. Pulsing, neon veins ripple across their petals, as if they're keeping beat to the pulse of the galaxy. Hikaru inhales when Amelia picks one for him.
Lips tug into a warm smile, nose brushing against the velvet texture. It smells like ocean citrus. Soothing and calming, much like their walk. "Who knew you could be so romantic, Amelia," Sulu teases. He moves to tuck the stem against her bushy locks. "Though you look much nicer with a flower than me." He laughs. "But thank you." @astremourante

602 628 wake me up at no specific time
Drug run island dunes so deserted so beautiful, truly odd, buildings with lights on, movement, but only me and my companion seemed to be there In an empty house, the lights worked, clean but old, always a toilet, birds in the one large room, wooden cabinets rabbit eared tv Why were they built so tall. Skyscraper houses on a hill in the forest, a beach going down, made it to the wooden walk but never saw the water (could smell and hear it) same way you know there's a dog in the kitchen
The in between zone, where dune meets forest, almost like a snowbank, but not cold at all, moonlit Animal crossing, ties back to my prayer at Cumberland walking litany of saturday Can you bleed out in a (storm) in a dream, is that what it feels like
*
Travelling to Philly via nashville visiting people both places, not exactly work but meetings, interviews, scary people outside movie theaters with penis dolls, had to buy something for a movie, they didn't have what I wanted, settled for granola, what is a gift shop that doesn't have what you want, flowers, goods, icons, I've driven this way before, Chattanooga, etc got to my hotel on the Susquehanna later than I planned and needed to stay, drank a latte, it was gonna be so many hours back figuring out how to wake up at midnight to drive home for work. This reminds me of another cross country dream, a long one, going from city to city criss crossing the night, adventure of my life,
Do you still remember how in Russellville there were no drinks in the restaurant, dry county, had to sleep sober with my boots on, ready to fly at the slightest noise

I Sing the Body Aquatic by Tomás Q. Morín
When I offer my sweaty hand in greeting
I can see the future. No matter
how gently you squeeze, I know
when our hands meet you will crowd
my crooked index and pinkie fingers
against their straight-as-an-arrow brothers
so that my hand looks more like a fin
than an appendage perfectly evolved
for tying shoelaces or wiping a tear
from the red face of the missionary
who rode his bicycle under the sun
all day to reach my porch.
When he takes my hand he won’t find hope
or brotherhood or whatever
he’s looking for. Because I can see
the future at times like this
and because I have an unshakable faith
in the law of averages, I know
when our hands embrace he’ll find
proof of natural selection
in the shape of my fingers, evolutionary
holdovers from an ear of gills
when the earth was all aquarium
and some distant relative with sleep eyes
and splayed fins who tired of being mocked
by handsome carp said, To hell with it
and climbed out of the sea and across
moonlit dunes toward a sandy life.
In that moment he couldn’t have predicted
300 million years later one of his
descendants having long since grown legs
would be belly down on a beach
before an ocean that would carry him
and his own to the land of Montezuma
to roast in the sun for four centuries
where their conversion into dry Catholics
would be so perfect you would never guess
I can’t swim to save my life
or anyone else’s or that the sound of a wave
pounding a rock makes me nostalgic.
You would never know any of this
until we met on the street
or you knocked on my door and embraced
my hand and felt Galilee on my palm,
which you might mistake for nervousness
unless you were familiar with the embarrassment
of having the only wet fins at a party
because somewhere in your family there was a pike
or two hailing from one of the lost schools
that under pain of death swam
far from the Atlantic or Mediterranean,
around both of which I hear shame
and fear are still the coins of the realm.

It's WIP Wednesday, My Dudes
Tumblr media
The jungle is deathly still. Even the wind, which usually whispers through the trees, seems to be holding its breath. The only sounds left in the world are the echo of Hekarro's footsteps, crunching over old leaves and root-covered stone; and the whir of the insects: a thousand crickets singing their endless rhapsodies. His weapon feels heavy in his hands as he clears vines away with his machete.
Yet the acrid smell of burning lingers in the air, an ominous scent of smoke and death.
The jungle releases its grip on him, and his heart thunders in his ribcage. He trudges through the moonlit sands of the desert dunes. The sight before him is of utter devastation; the village burns and families cling to one another, their cries of grief so loud and powerful he feels it in his very bones.
Amongst the molten ruin, he sees her, her silhouette surrounded by licks of orange and crimson. She weeps over the lifeless body of a young boy cradled in her arms. His heart shatters into dust at his feet and he sinks to the ground with her, gently caressing the boy's face. Dark eyes that once beamed with innocent joy now stare blankly and despairingly at an unforgiving, starless sky.
"We all sacrifice something in the end, don't we?" The woman hisses, and she turns her glare up to him. Her eyes burn with hate, and he hesitates,
"Regalla, I-"
"Why did you sacrifice him?! Me?!"
He has no response, not even the beginnings of one, when the boy turns his emotionless gaze upon him,
"Why are you still here and I'm not?"

Work text:
Observant was never a word that one would associate with Kalim Al-asim, the heir to the Asim family fortune. Often times he would be caught spacing out or dozing off in the middle of his private magical lessons, or sometimes he would make irrational decisions that costed unimaginable consequences.
He was trusting, a tad too much than most would like. He would greet everyone with a bright smile, showering them in lavish affection and luxury. To the point that snakes, hidden in the dark, would use his kindness, no— ignorance— for their own benefits. He should not trust so easily, Jamil Viper warned him of that more times than he could count.
Kalim learned that lesson the hard way. He learned when he was hooked with the most advanced medical equipment to rid the poison out of his body, when he could barely breathe and doctors and nurses came rushing in and out of his room.
His life was lived in golds and silvers, in bountiful feasts and loud parties that boasted wealth and power. He had everything in his life handed to him, causing him to become a figure of envy across the dry expanse of the Land of Scalding Sands.
Accompanied with his grand upbringing was a retainer from the Viper family, a family that had been serving the Asims as far back as the sands of time could tell. And the Viper family presented one of their own to have the honor of serving them.
Jamil Viper, the eldest of his family, he who had been with Kalim even before he could conjure up the simplest of magic. He who serves wholeheartedly to the Asim family cause, he who is inferior.
Jamil was subjected to scorn, even from his own kin. Kalim could see the sparks in his eyes, Jamil has his hands behind his back, one hand tightly gripping the other. Kalim noticed the tiny bits of rage that Jamil let through, he noticed the sparks of hatred in his charcoal-colored irises.
And Kalim's heart sank for his friend. He wanted Jamil to feel better, and what better way to cool off than to take a late night carpet ride. They sailed the clouds, across the moonlit sky, their worries fallen off somewhere far outside the dunes.
He learned caution when Jamil, a friend that he's been with since he was barely able to walk, suffered the same venomous dilemma. But he had differences in his recovery, while Kalim had a cold conditioned hospital room, Jamil's was the plain beige of a cramped room.
He knew Jamil was stronger than him, on rare occasions he could see the cracks on Jamil's surface. How Jamil would let his thoughts slip through hushed whispers, how he would accidentally prove time and time again that he was worlds better than him in every way possible— a perfectly faceted jewel hidden under pyrite and rhinestone.
Kalim felt jealousy rear its head from deep within him, in recesses that he paid no mind. Instead of harboring hatred for Jamil's skills, it made Kalim even more determined to be worthy of the mountain of titles and praises he's been giving.
He felt like the bright, festive fireworks when he actually did something. It wasn't out of his wealth or the name of his family, it was something he could call his own— something made of his magic. He finally managed to cast a proper spell, a light spell.
It wasn't much, but pride swelled within him. He clasped the wisp of light, linked photons with magic and mass, in his hand like a fragile thing. Excitedly, he showed it to Jamil, and he was met with the same nods he's always gotten from him.
Next, he showed it to his father. And to no one's surprise, yet another bountiful feast was celebrated by the Asims— to where they celebrated their eldest's magical awakening.
Come and go a number of summers, an invitation entered the estate. A single invitation clad in black and white, with the academy's logo— a raven with a magical pen on each of its talons, with a key hung around its neck. It was simple and direct, whoever receives the letter is invited to attend Night Raven College. The rules were that one invitation equates to one student.
Two students left Asim Park, setting off in pursuit of greater education at one of Twisted Wonderland's most prestigious magical academies.

Oh! Just recalled I had a really pleasant dream last night, particularly good after horrible nightmares the night prior kept me bound loosely yesterday. It felt to be the same place as an old dream, the warmly lit interior of an abandoned building slowly devoured by a dune, but the sand was gone, and I could exit. The house was built at the crest of a hill overlooking a valley in a fully moonlit night, in which a bank of fog flowed inland, like a river in reverse. The fog reflected the stars like water, and what looked like huge manta rays with the proportions of the smaller species swam just under the surface, reassuringly, as the fog water rose higher. Lovely experience.

Aiming for the soul
Take steps towards God through moonlit nights
The stomach empty, blood flows to where it most needs
I’ve been staying clear of nonsense, but been taking in a lot
Regurgitating what I most need, seen again and again
There’s a plot things need, I know the soul bleeds
Filled with air and wind, inspiration is the human creed
The herd feeds on what the heart seeds
And not every crop is sellable, so keep the cheap mead
Take what you want, we all fend off long-held answers to questions we can’t ask again
Progression by progression, till I reach the dunes
Milk and honey, rivers with dates and shade on hot days
May what can’t grow, burn to soot so that what can, does
Seal of the soul with so much unsaid and so little unknown
A creed from heaven sold to no one but our own
A splitting mountain and a being of fire who flew from the scene
Entrust the aether and encamp by the means
