I find Merope Gaunt an extremely interesting character. First of all, she is one of the last living heirs of Salazar Slytherin, she lives as an abused person and in extreme poverty. She manages to understand love, but in an extremely distorted, sick and possessive form and this transforms her into an executioner. She even falls in love with a muggle and, in fact, she betrays her family and her origins, even going so far as to sell her family heirloom. She is, in my opinion, one of the most controversial characters in the entire saga and it's a real crime that they cut her out of the films. What can I say, I hope in this case too that the series can resolve it by showing her story.

In an alternate world, Tom was raised by his mom, along with the Gaunt side of his family in the shack they shared all together. The constant abuse from his grandfather and uncle towards Merope makes him have no lost love for them. Just about to face his last year at school, he prepares for his quest for power and aims to have you on his side.
Trigger warning: sensible material such as violence, abuse, toxic behavior, and incest.
Credits to: @mrsdarkandyandere7 who helped me out with the cousin idea for the viewer.

So the deeper I go into the Gaunt family lore, the more I realize that it's not as straight forward as the HP canon make it seem. Like, what happened to Rionach Gaunt who's the mother of Isolt Sayre (the founder of Ilvermorny), and does that mean they're from the "main branch" of the Gaunt family? Cause it seems like there are at least two branches of this house, and I'm starting to think that maybe Ominis belongs to the secondary branch. 🤔💭 It seems like Ominis might belong to the Irish branch of the House of Gaunt, cause Marvolo and the rest seem to be English but I don't know yet.
The only "clue" I have is that when you go to Hogsmeade, there will be townspeople who talk about how a certain "Gormlaith Gaunt would skin her own mother..." and how cruel of a witch she was. So, if this narrative is present in this universe, it kind of makes sense that Ominis might belong to the Irish sect of the Gaunts.
Yes, this is open for discussion. I may also make another post for this one if I get enough info and evidence.

imagine, after Tom killed his father and grandparents, he read a description of Aromensia, or he thought about the love potion after have spoke with his uncle and before his three murdes, and realized that his father didn't abandon his poor pregnant wife but that he just ran away of his r*pist as soon he was free of the love potion effect .
Well, the thing is, per a @rankheresy episode by me and @therealvinelle, I don't think Tom killed his family, I think Morfin did

the house of gaunt
argus was the older brother of marvolo gaunt. he was just as cruel as his brother, but had a subtler way of showing it, retaining some of the family’s influence of old until his death. despite not having the means to do so, the family clung to the aristocratic lifestyle they felt they deserved due to being descendants of salazar slytherin. argus married his first cousin calliope and they had three children together: proteus, ares, and leda.
proteus was killed while on an expedition to locate a family heirloom, and in the process released the goldcrest brothers from their enchanted slumber. he had always been the favourite of his parents, so his death hit them hard. ares was never able to live up to the role his brother left behind and his parents wasted no time telling him so. he cut ties with his family, became an auror and worked as an undercover operative in the muggle army during the great war, dying before the end of the war. leda was never treated as an equal to her brothers, and more like a meal ticket. her parents tried to marry her off to rich pureblood families in order to rise back into their rightful place in the social hierarchy of the wizarding world. leda resisted her parents’ efforts, and eventually joined forces with her brother to work against a group of dark wizards, and was the only one out of argus and calliope’s children to outlive her parents.
marvolo took over management of the gaunt estate and finances after the death of argus. (it is not clear whether argus died of natural causes or whether marvolo killed him.) despite his efforts, marvolo wasn’t able to salvage the family’s property and had to sell the estate and lands and move his family into a small cottage in little hangleton. his children were morfin, a man who enjoyed torturing muggles even more than his father ever did, and merope, a witch who became the mother of tom marvolo riddle, later known as lord voldemort.

I’m many months too late in jumping on the Hogwarts Legacy train, but I believe that one of the biggest giveaways that Merope Gaunt is not Ominis’ younger sister (as speculated by some fans) is that, in the game, Ominis explains that “it’s his sister’s first year at Hogwarts [and] every time she pretends not to see him in the halls, he casts at her a Trip Jinx.” [04:30]
In Bob Ogden’s recollections (Chapter 10, The House of Gaunt, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince), teenage Merope did not demonstrate significant magical capability and was infamously called a Squib by her father. Now, the only Squib whom we know who went to Hogwarts is Argus Flich, who didn’t even attend as a student, but as a caretaker. Knowing the Gaunts as we do, I find it hard to believe that they would have sent out into the world a family member who, according to them, was an embarrassment to the family name.
Not only that, but despite the cruelty in Ominis’ upbringing, he looks rather well-to-do and sane while Marvolo, Morfin and Merope were anything but that. Marvolo’s own house was described as a “hovel.”
At a certain point, Ominis moans about “working with a wand that’s been passed down from three unruly sisters.” [05:30] As far as we know, Morfin and Merope were the only children of Marvolo. For these reasons and many others, it makes more sense that Ominis would have been a cousin of Merope and Morfin, perhaps even an uncle, but not a sibling.

Bó na Leath Adhairce by @saintsenara/Asenora
Our third work of the week is here, brought to us by Asenora! This time we're looking at a certain Dark Lord's mother . . .
Summary: A coming of age story for an invisible girl.
Warnings: Please note that there are non-graphic references to child abuse, sexual abuse, and non-con activities in this story, as well as underage pregnancy and abortion.
What's to love: Asenora knows how to set a mood right from the beginning, and the poetic prose continues throughout the piece. Merope's longing is palpable - she wants, and is denied, all the sorts of feminine things she sees on the Muggle girls who get to visit Tom Riddle (Sr.). You'll ache right with her as she yearns for more, only to come up short. Despite all this, there's hope. Merope hangs onto hope, still sees beauty, and dreams of a better tomorrow.
Thank you Asenora/@saintsenara!

If you have ever entertained thoughts on the House of Gaunt, what are your thoughts on the House of Gaunt?
I think they're really creepy and they all deserve Hell (Merope is a r*pist, Marvolo and Morfin make me want to puke, and Tom is Voldemort. Enough said).

Morgana Gaunt was Marvolo's cousin, she died shortly after Merope's birth, between Morfin and Merope there were 3 stillbirths and 2 miscarriages.
She was several years younger than Marvolo, but was forced to marry following the recent Gaunt tradition of marrying cousins in order to maintain pure blood.
Marvolo Gaunt (1856 - 1927)
Morgana Gaunt (1880 - 1907)
Morfin Gaunt (1897 - 1992)

“You speak it?” “Yes, I speak it,” said Riddle. He moved forward into the room, allowing the door to swing shut behind him. Harry could not help but feel a resentful admiration for Voldemort’s complete lack of fear. His face merely expressed disgust and, perhaps, disappointment.
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, Chapter 17: A SLUGGISH MEMORY
In this passage we notice how the young Voldemort (already disappointed by having discovered that his father is a Muggle) receives a great disappointment from what remains of the magical family, the maternal family. Perhaps and disgust. It must not have been the best for him.

One of the worst things about Harry Potter is that it makes it very hard to find fanfics on John of Gaunt, Duke of Lancaster as searching it up on Google instead shows results on Voldemort's family ( which is also named Gaunt).

Me: I want a book accurate Harry Potter TV show, where everything in the show matches the books perfectly. Nothing new has been added in unless it compliments or improves the canon book storyline more. I think we can all agree that too much was changed or altered in the movies, to the extent some movies, like The Half Blood Prince were very unrecognisable. So the TV show should not change anything, but should only set out to improve only.
Also me: I want Marvolo Gaunt to be beautiful and young. He is the Fanon Marvolo, not old man inbred Marvolo, he will have the messy dark hair and light brown eyes he has in fanart. He's no more than 40 years old, with a 20/30 something playing him and he is the definition of a tall, dark haired, handsome stranger. He is where Tom Riddle got his good looks from. Marvolo is the prime pedigree of Wizard Kind. You just look at him, and he radiates power and beauty. Fandom daddy. The Gaunts are also mentioned in every season, for no reason at all. Special Gaunt reference found in the Chamber of Secrets. Ominis Gaunt is mentioned a lot too, so is Sebastian. There's Gaunts everywhere, not just Merope and Morfin, its the whole family now. They are all unearthly beautiful and can do wandless magic. They are also among the fighters in the Battle of Hogwarts, at the end they redeem themselves by saving the day, rejoining the Wizarding World and Harry acknowledges them as his cousins.

What if Riddle possessed Morfin to murder Tom Riddle Sr. and his parents? That would explain Morfin's memory going suddenly dark and him not remembering anymore. Because Ginny said when you're possessed there are holes in your memory. And it would also better explain why the trace wasn't an issue when magic happened in a nonmagical house. And then he could've simply put his memory of having killed them while in Morfin's body into Morfin's mind which would've explained why the fake memory was so convincing.
