Working on some other stuff but got sidetracked to do this instead, so enjoy.
———————————————————————————————————–
Stan’s fingers frantically scrabbled for his seat belt.
“What do ya mean yer not buckled?!” Angie shouted over the pounding rain.  “We’ve been over this!”
“Look, just help me and then-” was all that Stan managed to get out before they collided with something.  As his body flew through the windshield, above the sound of the storm, he heard Angie’s scream.
Stan sat bolt upright with a gasp.
“Oh, good.  You’re awake.”  Stan looked over.  Sitting in a nearby armchair was a redheaded and bearded muscular man.  He looked like the lumberjacks that they had come across while going through the area before.  Though Stan wasn’t used to seeing a lumberjack knitting a sweater.  “You’re lucky,” the lumberjack continued.  He set down the in-progress sweater.  “Bill doesn’t normally go out in the storms, but when he saw you crash in the yard, he ran outside to rescue you right away.”  Stan looked around the room, taking in his surroundings.
He was in a large bed with a flannel bedspread.  The bedroom was cozy, full of clearly handmade furniture.  Despite the furniture being handmade, it was obviously high-quality.  Even nicer than Stan had at home.  A lamp by the side of the bed filled the room with warm light.  The lumberjack in the armchair raised an eyebrow at him.
                 “Did you hear me?”
“Uh, yeah.  I did.”  Stan cleared his throat.  “…Thanks.”
“Like I said, the person you should be thanking is Bill.”
                 “Bill is…?”
“My partner.  He’s out chopping wood right now.  The storm took away most of our stockpile.”
“Ah.”  Stan swung his legs over the side of the bed.  “I’ll thank him, then.  But, uh, first, do you have a phone?  I’ve gotta call my fiancée and make sure she’s all right.”
“Of course.  Come with me.”  Stan got up and followed the lumberjack, who introduced himself as, funnily enough, Jack, out of the room.  They went down a hallway, passing by a few children’s rooms and a nursery.  When they got to the kitchen, Jack gestured towards the phone.  Stan quickly picked it up and dialed the number for the motel they were staying at.
Angie picked up on the second ring.
“Stanley?” she said breathlessly.  Stan leaned against the wall, relief washing over him at the sound of her voice.
                 “Yeah, Ang, it’s me.”
“Oh, thank the Lord!” Angie sobbed.  Tears pricked the corners of Stan’s eyes.  “I was- I was so worried!  We hit that tree and- and ya went through the windshield and- Fidds was screamin’ at me that I couldn’t put myself in more danger, sayin’ I needed to find cover now, we’d look fer ya once the storm died down.”
“He was right,” Stan teased.  He discreetly rubbed away the tears before they had a chance to fall.
“Yer my fiancé.  Yer not s’pposed to agree with my overprotective big brother.”
                 “Yeah, yeah.”
“How- where are ya?” Angie asked tentatively.
“I guess I crashed in someone’s yard and they brought me in.”
                 “Geez.  Are ya injured?”
“Uh.”  As if summoned by Angie’s question, pain suddenly sprouted all over Stan’s body.  He barely stifled an agonized groan.  “I dunno about injured, but I’m definitely beat up.”
                 “No broken bones or anything?”
                 “Not that I know of.”
“We’ll have ya see a medical professional just in case.”  Angie hesitated.  “Um.  I’d say we’d fetch ya, but our car got wrecked in the storm and Pa won’t be here with the truck fer another couple hours…”
“I’ll see if I can bum a ride,” Stan said.  He looked at Jack, who gave a thumbs up.  “Yeah, they can drop me off at the motel.”  Angie sighed.
“Good.  We’ll have to send ‘em a gift basket or somethin’ in thanks.  I’ll see ya soon, darlin’.  Love ya.”
“I love you, too,” Stan said softly.  The line went dead.  Stan hung up the phone.
“Bill or I can give you a ride,” Jack confirmed.
                 “Great.”
“If I can ask…”  Jack tilted his head.  “How did you wind up in that storm, anyways?  Didn’t you hear the sirens go off?”
“That’s why we were here, actually,” Stan said.  Jack frowned.  “My fiancée and I are storm chasers.”  Jack let out a low whistle.
                 “That’s a dangerous job.”
                 “Somebody’s gotta do it.”
“Yeah…”  Jack didn’t seem to believe Stan, but he merely cleared his throat.  “Maybe avoid mentioning storm chasing to Bill?  He’s got a pretty severe fear of storms.”
“You said he was the one who brought me inside.”
“It took a lot for him to do that,” Jack said stiffly.
                 All right.  Back off.
“I appreciate it.  You said he was outside?  I should go thank him myself,” Stan said smoothly.  Tension left Jack’s shoulders.
“Yes.  He’s in the backyard.”  Jack nodded at the door in the kitchen.  “Just through there.  I’ll get the truck ready while you’re talking to him.”
“Got it.”  Stan exited through the kitchen door.  The backyard consisted of a large clearing with some stray toys and play equipment.  Near the back of the clearing was a man in flannel chopping logs.
That must be Bill.  Stan idly strolled up to Bill, silently noting that he looked more sturdily built than Jack.  Bill had broad shoulders, incredibly muscular arms and legs, a full beard, and long, curly, brown hair.  Now, that’s a lumberjack if I’ve ever seen one.  He looks like he could take me out with one punch.  Stan cleared his throat.  Bill paused to look over.  He was wearing thick, wire-framed glasses, though not thick enough to hide that his right iris was a much lighter brown than his left.  It likely had something to do with the scar that stretched across his right eye.  Bill smiled lazily at Stan.  Huh.  He looks…familiar.
“Glad you’re awake,” Bill rumbled.  Stan frowned.
                 That voice…
                 “That was a nasty storm.”
“Yeah, uh,” Stan said, trying to shake off the nagging feeling he had heard Bill’s voice before.  He coughed.  “Thanks for bringing me inside.  My fiancée woulda killed me if I wound up in the hospital.”  Bill chuckled.
“Glad to be of help in preventing marital discord.  Or, rather, pre-marital discord.”
“Heh.  Yeah.”  Stan held out a hand.  Bill clasped it with his own.  Stan’s heart plummeted to his feet.  He knew that handshake.  He swallowed and looked down.  A six-fingered hand was wrapped around his.  “You- you-”
“Twelve fingers isn’t the weirdest thing around here,” Bill said with a laugh.  Stan looked squarely into Bill’s eyes.  Something like recognition flickered in them.
“Stanford?” he asked weakly.  “Bill” stared at him.  His eyes slowly widened.
                 “…Stanley?”

2, 3, 17 and 40 for the ask game!
Thank you for the ask, friend!!!
2) talk about a notable time a narrative or character has looked you dead in the eyes and said “fuck your plan, here’s what we’re actually doing.”
Oh jeez, that could be almost all of my fics. They tend to keep growing and growing because the characters want to do more and more things, until a 500 word ficlet becomes a 12k multichap! The most notable, I think, is my destiel star trek fusion au, which started out as a quick oneshot to get the kirk/spock/dean/cas brainworms out of my head before last year's NaNoWriMo so that I could focus on my goal of finishing several WIPs I'd been working on for months. Instead of doing that, like I intended, I kept thinking of more and more ideas and plot points to add into the universe, and ended up with 13 total fic ideas, two fully written first drafts for them, plus a couple halves of other ones, and like. maybe a thousand words on one of the WIPs I'd intended on finishing. For the whole of NaNo. I think that's the problem with writing Dean and Cas, though - it's literally canon that they'll fight against the narrative the author sets them, even when I'm actively trying to get the two ungrateful bastards together /j
3) on a scale of 1-10 how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?
10, baby! I love writing romance. I do write stuff without romance (mostly in my original works), but I really enjoy writing romance in fics, which is all I've been writing lately.
17) what is your favorite line you’ve ever written?
"the world was thrown into a greyscale majesty, pierced with shadows that were darker than spilt ink."
Annoyingly, it's from a fic that I don't really want people to read anymore, and have only left up because a) it was my first ever fic (published 10 years ago!!!!) and b) it was a gift for my best friend at the time who I've since lost contact with, and I want her to be able to find it if she ever wants to (Ruby, if you still follow me on here, I miss you!). The phrase "a greyscale majesty" popped into my head when I was writing it and keeps popping back in. I just like the way it sounds, although it's a lot more flowery than I like to write these days. Not my best line, but definitely my favourite.
40) best piece of feedback you’ve ever gotten.
Oh man, how to choose! I think it's a three way tie of comments left on my latest fic, Watching Over You - my wonderful friend Liz rereading chapter 3 before bed multiple times, someone here on tumblr saying it's a perfect bedtime story and they've reread it multiple times and it was an instant bookmark, and the absolutely tear-inducing comment on actual ao3 that my writing was cinematic and also "flows beautifully and is so enjoyable to read." I actually couldn't reply to that comment for almost a week cause my brain kept making dialup noises every time I read it! I actually got so much lovely feedback on that fic, I'm grateful for every single comment!!!

favorite color: green! or purple. also partial to maroon
currently reading: regretfully making my way through the latest warrior cat book ‘a light in the mist’ ig its been almost a year since it came out but i owe it to me of summer 2021 and also me of 2008 to actually finish it. i just dont remember everything from the other 5 books in this subseries so it’s a lot of head scratching and having to double check which clan each cat is from. all these new fangled characters smh.
last song: asking for by oh pep! song of all time frfr it makes me screaaaammm
last series: doctor who lol. im in season 10 in my never ending rewatch and the last 3 eps are so hard to get through because yes i will cry like a baby and the mondasian cybermen are genuinely terrifying and what is there after this? season 11? it’s not fair that chibs era comes after capaldis run aka the pinnacle of television. but i’ve been hopping around earlier stuff to put off making myself watch the next three seasons. who else is foaming at the mouth excited for 14 + rtd.
last movies: big hero 6! my roomies bf hadnt seen it before because he is ancient and honestly he didn’t react the correct way to how sad it is. but it was a nice family night we made arancini and pie :)
currently working on: eternally working on a wip for another fandom that is the reason i cant bring myself to do a multichap fic Ever Again, specifically stuck on one chapter that has been plaguing me for a year and a half. i would give anything to be done with it but i must persevere. but also a little boy scout adam ficlet and the ghosts au from midamoul week that i am totally overthinking to the point of incompletion but again. we persevere. also a myriad of dino au ficlets bc i started rly thinking about it again.
nine people is a lot and idk whoo has already done this but um @jumptheshark @heavensmostadorableangel @quicksilver-castiel @pussypopstiel @inochian @fandom-space-princess um and anyone who hasn’t been tagged!!

Fic Writer Interview
tagged by @dialux, thank you so much!!
Name: I am starlightwalking on ao3!
Fandoms: I’ve been mostly in the Tolkien fandom ever since I joined AO3; these days I write mostly Silm fic. But I also dabble in TAZ and Les Mis from time to time!
Where you post: AO3 and tumblr!
Most Popular One-shot: (going by hits for this one, though personally I measure the success of a fic by comments more than anything else. but hits are probably the best measure for popularity)
(extremely long sigh) ......... “Free from the ties that bind,” the only Fast and Furious fic I’ve written (and the only one I plan to write). people are just really here for Dom and Brian, which, like, I get that, there’s a reason I wrote the fic, but c’mon this is NOT something i’m like, The Most Proud Of
for Tolkien oneshots, though, it’s my Gigolas fic from TRSB19, “Love and Fear” :) I like that one a lot!
and for Silm oneshots specifically, it’s “It is the star to every wand’ring bark,” a Maglor-comes-home-to-Valinor fic I wrote for B2MeM19. I totally get why that one is well-liked; Maglor is a beloved character who FINALLY gets his happy ending here ;-;
Most Popular Multichap: A Merrier Place, the first BotFA fixit fic I wrote, way back in 2015. I get why, we were all in need of fixits then, but also I have way better fics now ;-; I don’t think I’ll surpass this anytime soon, it outstrips my next-most-popular fic by over 2k hits.
Favorite story you’ve written so far: “One More Time With Feeling,” aka the Russingon Fake Dating AU I wrote for TRSB20! I had so much fun writing this, I think it’ll be my favorite for awhile :D
Fic you were nervous to post: oh man I’m always super nervous posting smut; I think especially “the fire of life” (also written for TRSB20) was nervewracking because of how intense it got and also because there was a LOT of plot and I was worried about characterization too.
How do you choose your titles: Well, I’m currently waiting for someone to notice the pattern in the fic titles within the wondrous parts of you and I... but generally I’ll pull a quote from either the fic itself or a song, book, etc.
Do you outline: oh yeah absolutely! anything that isn’t super spontaneous gets an outline; sometimes even those fics do too. whether or not I stick to the outline is a toss-up, but I’m a planner for sure.
Complete: I’ve only ever not completed one fic (the Kiliel space AU I took down with the vague idea of turning into an original story) and it still haunts me. I am very determined to finish all my fics at some point; I hate leaving things hanging! As of now (12/8/20), 294 of my total 298 fics are marked as complete. Most of those are oneshots, though.
In progress: I have 4 fics marked as in-progress on AO3: Moonlight, the spiritual successor to A Merrier Place in that it’s a second, hopefully better take on a BotFA fixit AU; Cause and Consequence, the story of my Silm OC Ryndil; Roads Go On, my Modern Middle-earth retelling of LoTR; and In the Grey, the story of another Silm OC, Thennes.
Those aren’t my only WIPs, of course - I’m also working on a few different series! I still have ideas for the Feanorian Redemption verse, though they’re mostly “filler” fics, not actually plot-focused stories; the world as we know it, my Silm modern AU, still has a ways to go with plot (not to mention the filler stuff I have ideas for!); the wondrous parts of you and I (linked in a previous answer) aka the Trans Finno Verse, is likewise a ways from completion; My dearest cousin(s) (aka Finrod FUCKS) has been gathering dust since I posted the first installment but I do plan to finish it eventually; and finally synchronize into a love you’ve never known, aka the Russingon Fake Dating AU, has a few more installments I’m planning on writing, including the currently-about-halfway-done story of Finno’s POV of the main fic :)
Oh, and I have several WIPs that are currently languishing in my Google Drive. :P
Coming soon/not yet started: I’m currently working on holiday exchanges and events! But after that I’m planning to update Roads Go On, and then maybe focus on some of the fics I haven’t shared with y’all yet.
Prompts?: I love taking prompts! they’re not currently open (maybe after the holidays?) but I have a lot of fun writing ficlets for other people :D
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I am constantly daydreaming about my Russingon Arranged Marriage AU, which starts off as a comedy of errors about Mae and Finno and their dads but eventually just turns into a sprawling AU that’s really just an excuse to give everyone a bajillion kids and have everything be okay for once. When will I write this? Frankly I have no idea but I hope I will eventually!
i tag @buffintruder @absynthe--minded @aowyn @nikosheba @elesianne @crackinthecup @jail-crow-of-mandos and @thishazeleyeddemon - if you’d like to, no pressure :)

AO3 Stats
Thanks for the tag @maos2013 !
I’ve only been active on Ao3 since early September 2020 and only have 14 fics posted so I kinda feel like I’m cheating but it will be fun to look back on this I guess.
What are your five most popular works of all time? (starting with the most kudos)
The Allies and Hope we find in Liminal Spaces - 139 Kudos - Natasha helps Daisy (set after S3 and Civil War), also some Mama May content. (angst)
Saving Daisy from a Future of Pain - 131 Kudos - S7 AU where alternate timeline Philinda adopt baby!Daisy (little angst but mostly feels)
I will help you through the Darkness - 76 Kudos - four times during the show when May helped Daisy with her trauma and one time when Daisy got to say thank you (heavy angst with happy ending)
Adopting Robin - 74 Kudos - after a tragic car accident, May adopts Robin ( little angst but mostly feels)
Welcome to our Found Family - 65 Kudos - (sequel to #4) four one shots where all of the team members get to interact with Robin in her new family (very fluffy - slightly May centric)
What are your five least popular works? (starting with the least kudos)
Happiness is Here - 12 Kudos - Huntingbird + kids enjoy their first Christmas back with the team post S7 (fluff)
The Nutcracker Tradition - 17 Kudos - Fitzsimmons and Philinda take Alya and Robin to see the Nutcracker ballet (fluff)
Retirement is meant for Blanket Forts - 19 Kudos - Fitzsimmons and Alya enjoy a blanket fort (fluff ficlet)
New Year, New Beginnings - 23 Kudos - Daisy celebrates the new year post S7 before they ship out for space. She reflects on her past and her future. A little May&Daisy and Dousy (sappy - I don’t know how to categorize it on the fluff vs angst scale)
Festive Fun for All - 24 Kudos - my SS fic full of holiday fun with Bus Kids and Philindaisy (fluff)
Are you surprised about any of these lists?
Yes and No. I put a lot more effort into my angst pieces so I guess it makes sense they are more popular. But also most of my least popular works have been posted in the past 2.5 weeks and haven’t got nearly as much traction as I expected based on other stuff.
Optional, if you want to calculate it (remember that ao3 will count all the words in a multichap towards the year it is completed, regardless of how much was actually posted that year): How many words did you publish in 2020?
Well in the 3.5 months I’ve been on Ao3 I’ve published 46,283 words and I have ~4,000 more sitting in two WIP one-shots. For such a short time I’m pretty proud of that ~50k word count.
What’s a favorite fic you published this year?
I feel like I constantly bounce between The Allies and Hope we find in Liminal Spaces and I will help you through the Darkness because both of these are ideas I had years ago and I’m really proud of. I have a strong love for letting Daisy feel and express her trauma and I have a soft spot for May and Nat. However, New Year, New Beginnings also now has a special spot in my heart because it came from a very personal place and I’m really proud of it.
How do you feel like you’ve improved as a writer this year?
Well I realized my writing isn’t trash like every English teacher led me to believe. I’m also proud that I came here to write 2 fics but I wrote 14 with a way larger variety of characters and ships than I would have dreamed of.
What is something new you did writing-wise in the past year? (new fandom, pairing, setting, genre, collab, etc)
Everything. Doing Secret Santa was really scary for me though so I’m proud of that. I also wrote Huntingbird and Staticquake which I hadn’t intended but loved.
What is something writing-related you would like to try in the future? (check back at the end of the year and see if you did it!)
I would love to write more Marvel cross-over stuff! (Long term goal is a true mult-chapter fic)
Today’s date, so you can see how your results might change if you do this again in a year.
January 1, 2021
I’m sure these people have already been tagged or done this but oh well, do it if you want, @the-9muses @browneyedgenius @melindamayownsme and anyone else who wants to!!

Fic Writer Interview
Thanks for the tag @owlsinathens 💖
Name: MJ - Mis_Shapes on AO3
Fandoms: ASOIAF/Game of Thrones, will occasionally dabble in other
Where you post: AO3, occasionally ficlets on tumblr
Most popular one-shot: For One Night Only - Modern Greysnow in which Robb makes them his best men and they are require to organise a stag do.
Most popular multi-chapter: Unprecedented - Modern Greysnow again - Lockdown AU following Robb’s intervention (of course) after Jon is thrown out by his roommate
Favourite story I’ve written so far: The thrill of affection - Throbb ‘My Best Friends Wedding’ AU with a twist. I like it partly because I feel it was my first dabble in playing with side and minor characters more. It was the birth of my current Kyra, I would like to write more plot relevant Wex, and Roslin was fun too.
Fic you were nervous to post: I’m nervous everytime I post a chapter of the Greysnow Dystopia AU - From the Ashes, and actually a whole heap of stuff. Everything I’ve done for an exchange ever.
How do you choose your titles: Use lines from the fic or some song lyrics... Ideally use a pun
Do you outline: Kinda, I tend to have a vague direction I’m going in, but... in terms of GRRM’s gardeners and architects I’m of the gardener variety - sorry everyone who has ever read anything of mine. That being said! @evax3 has been instilling some better habits into me.
Complete: I am sooooo close to finishing sweet just like frustration which feels great, especially having just finished Don’t @ me too.
In progress: From the Ashes will be in progress for the forseeable future!
Coming soon/not yet started: I have (in my head) a very angsty throbb plot bunny in which Robb is a married doctor and ‘John Doe’ (hilariously in an asoiaf/got world I feel like this would translate as Jon Snow) gets brought in (you can probably guess who this is etc and imagine some of the issues here). And a couple of potential projects with @evax3 I’m not sure I should spill on, haha. OH! And two crazy CANONVERSE (I know!!) AUs - one is throbb plus another, and the other is Jon/Jeyne W.
Hello, my name is MJ, and I’m addicted to writing GUILT.
Prompts: I would like to see some more good old fashioned throbb sexual tension in the world. And please feel free to drop prompts on me. I’m kinda looking to write some more *cough* wound up throbb oneshots myself on the side of the more serious greysnow (and agonisingly slow slowburn) multichap and possible collab.
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I could not possibly say!
Tagging @evax3, @rainhalydia, @robbeonsa, @partialconstellations, @littlerockerao3, @subjunctivemood, @istaricelebelasse, @fineosaur-writes, @attaining-fic, @jeynepoole

ska tagged me in this fic meme
( @titleleaf )
Name: I'm shreds_and_patches on AO3. I was going to make it all one word like it is here, but AO3 said it was taken, which I think is because I initially registered it as a pseud under my previous name, angevin2. I made the change recently because angevin2 was my name on livejournal and I don't really use it anywhere anymore, and I wanted people on tumblr to know I write fic.
Fandoms: I mostly just write about Shakespeare/historical Richard II and people adjacent to him, with occasional side trips into other Shakespeare (mostly histories), Shakespeare the person, and one Canterbury Tales fic that I wrote for Yuletide one year (which was actually really fun to write but for some reason I’ve never gotten Chaucer in to any of my other fic even though it would make perfect sense for him to be hanging around). I have a couple of Doctor Who ficbits lying around that I’m probably not gonna do much with.
Where you post: Finished stuff all goes on AO3, ficlets and bits of WIPs go here.
Most Popular One-shot: How are we defining “one-shot”? If it’s in contrast with “multichap” as the next question implies, most of my fics would qualify. But I tend to keep my fic consistent with one another (like, if it’s set in canon period I tend to assume it’s the same universe as my other canon-period fics and the novelthing). So I’m defining “one-shot” in terms of “concepts I’m not really planning to revisit,” which means the winner is probably “Sad Stories of the Death of Kings,” a fic I wrote for yuletide (which means a much higher hit count) that’s focused on Shakespeare and Marlowe, a beloved pairing (although this fic is at most mildly shippy. I also get a disproportionate number of kudos on “He Which Hath No Stomach To This Fight,” which I dashed off years ago as a commentfic -- it’s about Poins after the events of the Henry IV plays (I decided he settled down and married a rich citizen’s daughter).
Most Popular Multichap: I don’t have any multichapter fics (yet!) but my most kudosed fic is the Stabby Aumerle fic, “The Kindest Use a Knife,” which is set in the universe of the RSC production and explores its decision to have Aumerle kill Richard. It was posted back in 2014 but has gotten a lot of attention in the last year or so thanks to Good Omens causing a resurgence of interest in/discovery of David Tennant’s Richard, who looks not unlike Crowley. My most read fic (and second-most kudosed) is “a chance that doth redeem all sorrows,” an AU fic in which Anne of Bohemia gets bubonic plague rather than the even less survivable pneumonic plague she is traditionally thought to have died from, and ultimately recovers from it. This was also a yuletide fic, so its popularity is a bit atypical; my other fics featuring Anne of Bohemia have been well-liked inside the microfandom they were written for but haven’t otherwise received much attention. Which I understand!
Favourite story you’ve written so far: Oh man, this one’s hard. Both of the two fics mentioned in the preceding entry are strong contenders, but I also want to put in a word for “Andělíčku rozkochaný,” which is basically a character piece about Anne of Bohemia, starting from the speculation that she had a miscarriage in the summer of 1392, during Richard’s quarrel with the city of London. It incorporates a number of ideas I’d been meaning to write about for years, and I’m quite proud of it.
Fic you were nervous to post: I was kind of worried about “such a guest as grief,” because Yuletide has kind of always made me nervous since I got on _coal some years back (not even by my recipient, who was lovely!) and I hadn’t done it in a few years (I stopped while I was teaching high school because I had NO TIME). This was also around the time fandom started to really freak out about age gaps in fic so I was worried about that as well, although it’s not an issue in the fic at all (they’re both adults even by modern standards, just six years apart) and you’d have to know the actual birthdates of the individuals involved.
How do you choose your titles: They tend to come from Shakespeare (usually from Richard II for obvious reasons) but sometimes they’re from other poetry. “The Kindest Use a Knife” was actually cited in an article about how dumb fangirls woobify tyrannical Richard II because of our girlboners for Ben Whishaw and Eddie Redmayne, because the author was like “this person is connecting real-life homophobic persecution to her adorkable version of Richard” and I almost had a stroke.
Do you outline: I tend to have a sketch outline when I’m writing a longer fic, although I usually have to sort of muddle around and write some stuff first. I’ve always liked George R.R. Martin’s thing about how some writers are architects and some writers are gardeners, and I am definitely a gardener, which is appropriate since I write about Richard II all the time. I’m not sure I’m as conscientious as the gardener in the play, though, and it takes me forever to finish anything.
Complete: 48 works on AO3, with the odd uncollected ficlet here and on my old lj.
In progress: I’ve got four active WIPs at the moment: my histories ficathon fic (which I’ve only really just started); the Bad Pregnancy Timing AU, a longfic in which Anne of Bohemia is pregnant during the appellant crisis and things go pear-shaped; a sequel to “a chance that doth redeem all sorrows” with some more focus on the Lancasters; and the Brundage sex flowchart fic. Also the novelthing, but that’s not really fic even though my fic is generally consistent with it and vice versa.
Coming soon/not yet started: I’ve got enough on my plate as it is, ask me when I’ve finished at least one thing in the previous answer.
Prompts?: In theory I like them but I’m really, really bad at finishing them.
Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I think the bad pregnancy timing AU is gonna kick ass.

Fic Writer Interview
I piped up when @kiseiakhun did theirs so now I gotta pay for my hubris (but also, it's fun! Thanks for going out of your way to re-tag me!)
Name(s): stvlti (tumblr), stultiloquent (ao3)
Fandoms:
Actively writing for: DCU - comics and also related media, by which I mean of course Young Justice the cartoon and somehow also the Titans TV show. I never expected I'd write for a live action TV show series but hey, 2003 Teen Titans were my roots and Titans is a close relative. (Funnily enough I haven't actually seriously written for TT, but it's all about NTT and its derivative works)
Older fandoms on my AO3: Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, Noragami, Death Note
Where you post: AO3 is where I literally archive all my fics that see the light of day, drabbles and crackfics alike, but sometimes they get posted on Tumblr first (especially if it's to fill a prompt) and then make their way over to AO3 for reposting
Most popular one shot (by kudos):
Overall: "the hands that worship you", which is a pwp because I guess y'all love the porn on AO3!
This year: "if you can't summon your own tentacles, store-bought is fine", which is also a pwp because you horny mofos will always pick porn over anything else welp (thanks for leaving kudos though 🤣 and tbf, this one does have the unfair advantage of being literally the second oldest piece posted this year so it's had more time to amass more kudos than my gen / PG rated fics. proportionately though it's definitely not the one I've gotten the highest kudos to hits ratio on)
Most popular multi-chap (by kudos):
Discounting "if you can't summon your own tentacles" (which is more a two-parter that was written as a one-shot), I don't have an answer for either "Overall" or "This year" for this one because I have in fact only ever written one (1) multichap fic since moving to AO3 (we don't talk about the dark days on Deviantart) and said multichap fic isn't even close to within the top 10 most kudos'd fic on my account. That plus it's an RPF from my teenaged years that I really don't wanna plug on main because I don't want y'all to read that shit (it's RPF, come on)
Favourite story you’ve written so far:
I can't answer for "Overall" (cause I feel like I'd be forgetting and therefore neglecting a portion of the stories I've got in my portfolio over the last 8 years), but for "This year" it is in fact my latest entry, "Transference"! I was quite proud of the comfort zones I tested with that one, I pushed myself to write more than 2 character povs for a single piece (my record had always been 2 but in that fic I was juggling 3 - almost 4 character perspectives), plus it gave me an excuse to play around with narrative structure which is always a Thing I'm nerdy about
Fic you were nervous to post:
Cool cool cool so I'm just gonna expose myself with this one, but it was actually the priest kink fic, "When I'm down on my knees you're how I pray". I wanted to contextualise Dick Grayson's guilt issues in a Catholic context as like a what-if, but I've also never been Catholic, wasn't raised Catholic, and it was somehow important to me that I didn't misrepresent the customs and rituals of Catholicism? Even though just writing the fic itself was already fundamentally disrespectful? Idk my brain works on weird logic.
btw if any of you wanna cancel me for this just block me and move on.
How do you choose your titles?:
The title is either based on the central theme / moral of the story, which will come to me as I write and is usually the case for fics I take more seriously, OR, if it's a ficlet I didn't put as much effort into and/or don't intend to show off, I'll usually pull from lyrics for a one liner that hits the emotional notes I'm going for in the story.
Do you outline?:
Almost always. The only fics I haven't outlined are spur of the moment things, stuff that's very focused on a single instance or thought without much plot or coordination needed.
Complete: 26 25 in total
not counting the ones I deleted or orphaned this year (again this number does not include my Deviantart stash shhhh those didn't happen)
In-progress: uh....3 4?
I'm kinda in between the research and planning stage for 3 different fics atm so idk if it's really in-progress in-progress... Those 3 fics aren't even set in stone, I might abandon them again like I did with one of these 3 (the dark academia au) 5 months ago (that I recently picked back up on the research front)
Yeah I forgot my Sladick fic is a 2-parter that I should probably work on and finish at some point 😬
Coming soon/not yet started: I think it's somewhere between 8 and 11
I just added 2 more to the list after Romin Week prompts dropped /sigh. But I really wanna test my comfort zone again and try writing the wilder stories for a change (it'll be fun though if I get around to it! Hopefully something BOP movieverse shaped if I'm lucky)
Prompts:
Sure, send them my way! I accept prompts, just can't guarantee I'll be able to respond speedily though cause I can't chain my muse to me and also real life happens, a lot
Upcoming work you’re most excited about:
Ooof idk if excited is the right word, try trepidation...I'm scared to mischaracterise our faves...but a BOP movieverse fic is probably going to be real fun! Just hope I can finish the research and writing in time for the event though
No-pressure tags:
See this is the real point of me asking to be tagged and filling this tag, cause I wanna pass it on to my writing mutuals in other fandoms. So @trans-l-lawliet @fantomn @mellonearyou @3dnygma , if you're listening,,,,
Also any other writerly friends or followers reading this and curious to try, please go ahead! Have fun with this!

Writerfest - Joey’s Interrogation
Tagged by the lovely @thewriterinthecottage , who really wanted to pick my brain and see what kind of writer I am so we can compare notes
Fandom: I’ve written for a few different fandoms in the past; but as of right now, my focus is on Bungou Stray Dogs. I’m not much of a fandom-hopper when it comes to creating content, so you won’t find me juggling a lot of fandoms at once because it’s easy for me to lose track of things that way.
Where do you post? I post on Twitter, Tumblr, AO3 and sometimes my Kofi page. All of those links are in my blog description. Twitter is more for experimental writing and whatever floats my boat, my Tumblr audience gets the best content I curated from my Twitter writing, AO3 gets the best content from both Tumblr and Twitter, and Kofi is there for me to post some wholesome stuff occasionally. So if you want to participate in polls and vote for wacky shenanigans or writing challenges you want me to do, Twitter is my sandbox in that regard while the other platforms get my more polished stuffs.
Most Popular Oneshot: For the BSD fandom, my most popular oneshot was an odazai smut I wrote back in April called Hold Me A Little Closer. I was stressed with my creative writing professor at the time and pretty much wrote this story because I wanted to create something that I wanted to create. I was sick and tired of his assignments and pretty much fueled all of my pent-up creativity and into this lovely oneshot that many of y’all have enjoyed :’3
Most Popular Multichap: For the BSD fandom, I don’t really have one. For fandoms that I’m no longer a part of, I have a few.
Favorite Story Written So far: Hands down, it has to be the grueling and very monostorious fic I wrote back in August for Oda - called Savor The Moment. As of right now, it’s the longest BSD project I’ve ever published and it’s at a whopping 12.5k ish. Oda is one of my favorite characters from the series and what inspired this story was my fascination for Dark Era, my fascination for Oda’s past and where he came from before joining the Mafia, my fascination with his relationship with the kids, the curry shop owner and Dazai, and my love for writing about the weather and food. I wrote, rewrote, edited, and revised this story in the span of a month and of everything I’ve written, you could tell how much love I had for this project and for what I was doing. It’s not an easy read by any means and you definitely have to take your time with it because it dives into light and heavy themes, but it’s a worthwhile read if you really love what I mentioned and want to see how I flesh out Oda.
Fic you were nervous to post: Anything regarding physical intimacy because I don’t get it, but I find it fascinating. As an autistic biroace, exploring physical intimacy through writing is an interesting endeavour and I do believe it shapes how I approach a lot of the relationship writing that I do and what I tend to gravitate towards when I write how comfortable characters are with each other and when they share some sweet or indulgent moments. I wouldn’t say I’m nervous, per se - but as someone who’s exploring topics like this through my own perspective and what resonates with me, it does make me wonder how people not like me perceive it. If that makes sense.
How do you choose titles: I’m not ashamed to admit that I wander through Goodreads and see what titles are being published, find a few that I like, take the elements that I do like, and mesh something together that I find fitting for a story. I like looking at published books for inspiration for titles to see what the trends are and how other writers do it. Sometimes, I’ll use phrases or lines of dialogue from my fic as the title if I find it fitting or I literally use the theme or main message of the story as the title.
Do you outline? I outline enough to know the rules of my story so I can figure how I want to break them (if it’s a multi-chapter project), and I outline enough to at least know the beginning of a story so I can start writing. I struggle with beginnings so knowing how I want to start makes things easier for me. Sometimes I’ll draft what the general path of the story will be, but I always deviate when I’m actually writing because I’m a discovery writer and through the act of writing, I have a much better grasp of what the story wants to be. I don’t care if I deviate a whole lot or if I have to rewrite what I’ve written. To me, that’s just part of my process and I embrace that. I find that I enjoy writing a lot more when I’m loose about these things because that’s where my experimental style really thrives.
Complete: Ever since April of 2020, I’ve made a goal of publishing one fic onto AO3 per month. That’s why I’ve been a productive fic writer this year despite the world going to shit and the Hell that is remote learning. More than anything, that goal has taught me a lot of things about myself that I didn’t know and it’s helped me fall back in love with writing and in me figuring out why I write and what I want to write. Since April of 2020, I’ve posted 18 works onto my AO3 and many more on my Twitter and Tumblr. Ranging from drabbles to ficlets to oneshots and poetry!
In-progress: I’m currently working on a writing challenge that my Twitter followers voted on, and it’s an AU where Oda and Dazai left the Mafia together and burned the belongings that indoctrinated them into the organization -- Dazai burns his overcoat while Oda burns a pair of sunglasses (reference to his original character design where he wore sunglasses ToT). Another fic I’m working on this month is transcribing a poem I wrote in October and making it a full-fledged fic! Once again, it revolves around Oda and Dazai. However this time, they’re an established and domestic couple who’re snuggling under a blanket as winter encroaches upon their futon. That’s a feel-good fic and I’m all for it!
Coming Out Soon/Not Started: I have a TBW (to be written) list that I don’t want to reveal just yet since those fics will come out in 2021, but I can tell you that they’re intricate character studies and of me exploring different relationships and dynamics that may’ve occurred while in canon :3c
Prompts: I fulfilled 10 kiss prompts that I received in October and finished the last one earlier this week or a week ago. With the holidays approaching and with me wanting to finish some stories before 2020, I’m afraid I won’t be taking on any more prompts for this year. However, if you want to prompt me something for me to think about, my Tumblr ask is always open for that or you can participate in my random and occasional Twitter polls where you get to pick what I do for a story.
Upcoming Work Most Excited About: I have a soukoku WIP that I wrote back in September. The first draft is complete. It just needs a lot of rewriting and edits. But when I’m done, that’ll be my longest published work for the fandom. Why this excites me is because it’s the only time I’ll ever write a main pair fic that’s 20k+ in word count and knowing how this fandom views soukoku, I’m interested in what engagement would be like compared to me writing for my OTP and just experience what that’s like.

Human Again
I’ve got some other things I’m planning on posting the next couple weeks, after I’m done with finals (got one left; tomorrow morning).  But here’s a couple scenes from the Phoenix Enchantment AU that I’ve written in between things recently.  It’s...pretty long.  Normally I post things more quickly, so they don’t build up like this did.  Fiddleford and Ford figure out who Prometheus and Pele are, and after some good news, the birds get some pretty upsetting news.  It starts immediately after Fiddleford and Ford get back from Pinatubo’s vet appointment.  Enjoy.
               Ford opened the front door.
“That went much better than I expected,” he said cheerfully to Fiddleford. Fiddleford nodded.
“Yessir.  Pele was on her best behavior, and was keepin’ Pinatubo calm just like we hoped she would.  We should give ‘em a big ole treat later.”
“Agreed.  I- holy shit.”  Ford cut off his sentence upon seeing the destruction in the living room.  “What the hell happened?”  The hardwood floor was full of long scratches, cushions had been torn, and pieces of ripped paper were scattered everywhere.
“Darn it, I should’ve known better ‘n to leave Prometheus loose,” Fiddleford muttered.  There was a small chirp from the carrier he was holding.  “Pele, yer mate messed up the house big time.”  Ford frowned at the scratches in the floor.
“Those almost look like letters,” Ford said slowly.  He crossed over to the other side and gazed down. His eyes widened.  “They are letters.”
“Prometheus can write?” Fiddleford asked, aghast.  He set down the carrier and joined Ford.  “Oh, my.  It looks like a message.”
“It says…‘We’re really Stan and Angie, you assholes’,” Ford read aloud. He froze.  “But that’s-”  Pele began to screech from inside the carrier.  Fiddleford rushed back to the carrier to open it.  Pele stormed out and continued to squawk passionately, pacing back and forth, flapping her wings and bobbing her head in an approximation of gesticulating.  Ford and Fiddleford watched her tirade silently.  After a few minutes, she stopped, breathing heavily.  Fiddleford got down on his knees and stared at the phoenix.
“Angie?” Fiddleford asked weakly.  Pele let out a small croak.  “Yer- yer a bird?”  She nodded.
               “That’s impossible,” Ford said.
“This is Gravity Falls,” Fiddleford snapped.  “I doubt anything’s impossible here.”  His eyes widened.  “If- if Prometheus and Pele are Stan and Angie, then- then lil Pinatubo’s our niece! Stanford, we took our niece to the vet!”
“Fiddleford, it’s quite possible Pele and Prometheus are just lashing out at us for taking their chick from them,” Ford said.  “They’re quite intelligent, after all, and have heard us talk about our missing siblings before.”  Pele squawked indignantly.
“No, this is Angie,” Fiddleford said softly, looking at Pele again.  “I can see it in her eyes.”  Pele trilled at him.  “I’m so sorry, lil sis.  Let’s take ya back upstairs and get yer baby settled in.  Then we can discuss what to do.”  Pele nodded and walked back into the carrier.  Fiddleford closed the door.
“Fiddleford, I still don’t completely believe-” Ford started.
“Oh, hush,” Fiddleford said snippily.  He walked away.
-----
After reaching the attic landing, Fiddleford set the carrier on the floor and opened it.  Pele burst out, flying to Prometheus at the food stand and chirping at him busily. Fiddleford carefully placed Pinatubo in the nest.  He sighed.
“I’m so sorry, Stan ‘n Angie,” he said in a low voice.  The phoenixes looked at him.  He turned away.  There was a flash of light and two loud thuds. Fiddleford spun around.  On the floor, dazed and fully nude, were Stan and Angie.  “What?!” Fiddleford yelped.  Stan stood up woozily.  He grabbed the nearby food stand for support.
“Fuck, I feel weird,” Stan groaned in a voice that creaked from lack of use.  He looked at the food stand and gaped.  “Holy shit. Holy shit, I have fingers again!” Stan stretched out his hands, flexing his fingers.  “I won’t take ‘em for granted anymore.”  He looked down at Angie, who seemed more disoriented than him.  “Babe?”  Stan took Angie by the hand and pulled her up.  She abruptly slumped against him.  “You all right?”
“Ugh, I feel like- like I have the world’s worst hangover,” Angie croaked.  Her eyes suddenly widened.  “Molly! We have to-”  She looked over at the nest, skipping over Fiddleford initially, but then looking back at him.  “Fidds!”
“A- Angie?  Stan? Yer- yer-” Fiddleford stammered. He ran a hand through his hair. “I- oh, Lord, I’m so sorry, I-” He paused.  “Who’s Molly?”
“Our daughter,” Stan said.  Fiddleford looked over at the nest.
               “That’s her name?”
“Yeah.  Like we’d actually use the weird one Ford came up with,” Stan scoffed.  He looked at Angie.  “Think you can stand on your own?  I’ll grab Molly.”
“I’ll be fine,” Angie mumbled.  She stood straighter, still wobbling slightly.  “Fidds, you have no clue how nice it is fer someone to understand us when we talk again.”
“Oh, my poor baby sister, it must’ve been awful, so long bein’ birds,” Fiddleford whispered.
“Pretty much,” Angie said with a weak grin.  Stan yelped.  Angie looked over at the nest.  “What’s wrong?”                “Molly, she-”  Stan turned around.  Instead of a small phoenix chick, he was holding a human infant.  Angie gaped.  “She turned human.”
“Whatever made us turn back, it must’ve worked on her, too,” Angie whispered. Stan walked over to her. “Oh!  Look at her lil toes, and her lil fingers and- she has twelve fingers!”
“That explains the extra talons,” Stan said.  He tickled Molly’s stomach.  She giggled, then began to fuss loudly.  “Dammit.  She never stops makin’ noise.”
“Babies usually don’t,” Fiddleford said.  “No matter the species.”  Angie and Stan nodded silently.  “What happened?”
“I don’t know,” Stan said.  He looked at Angie.  “Ang?”
“Yer guess is as good as mine.”  She froze.  “Stanley.”
               “Yeah?”
               “We’re naked.”
               “So?”
“Let me modify that.  We’re naked, and human,” Angie said.  Stan stared at her.
“Shit,” Stan said.  He looked at Fiddleford.  “Mind getting us some clothes?”  Fiddleford turned red; it hadn’t hit him until then that he’d been conversing with two completely naked adults.
“Sure, sure, I’ll grab the two- three of ya somethin’.”
-----
Ford hurried into the kitchen.  Fiddleford was sitting at the table, playing with Molly’s hands.  Stan and Angie were nowhere to be found.
“You didn’t call anyone yet, did you?” Ford asked Fiddleford.  Fiddleford shook his head.
“No, sir.  We were ‘bout to, but Angie had to rush off to the bathroom.  She must’ve eaten somethin’ her stomach disagreed with.  Stan went to check on her.”  Fiddleford frowned.  “I guess after so long without eatin’ certain types of food, her body forgot how to digest it.”
“That’s…not why,” Ford said in a low voice.  “I figured out what triggered their initial transformation.” Fiddleford’s face went pale.
“Yer not usin’ a very upbeat tone.”
“No.  I’m not.” Ford sat next to Fiddleford and set the bestiary he had brought in on the table.  He smiled weakly at Molly.  “Hello, Molly.”  Molly giggled.  “She seems to be in a better mood than she was before.”
“The turnin’ human prob’ly discombobulated her,” Fiddleford said. “But she’s settled in a bit.  Got used to havin’ fingers ‘n toes.”
“Just watch, in five minutes, she’s gonna start screamin’,” Stan said, walking into the kitchen, Angie close behind him.  He sat at the table and took Molly from Fiddleford.  “That’s how it works with ya, isn’t it, Rooster?”  Molly giggled again.
“Feelin’ better?” Fiddleford asked Angie.  She nodded and sat next to Stan.  “I wonder what ya ate.”
“Did you have any dairy products?” Ford asked.
“I had some ice cream,” Angie said.
“That would be the cause of it,” Ford said.  Now bouncing Molly on one knee, Stan frowned at Ford.
“What makes you so sure, Sixer?”
“Because…”  Ford leaned forward and clasped his hands together.  He took a steadying breath.  “Your situation isn’t temporary.”
“What do you mean?” Angie asked.
“You’ll revert to your avian forms within 48 hours,” Ford mumbled reluctantly.  Stan stared silently at him.  Angie froze. “It- I found out what caused your initial transformation.  Apparently, in Gravity Falls, there’s an enchantment in place that selects humans to serve as the area’s breeding phoenix pair, should the current one leave.”
“That’s fucked up,” Stan said after a moment.
“Yes.  It is. The enchantment allows for the breeding pair to adopt a human form every month during a full moon outside of mating season.”
“It’s been a lot of full moons since we got enchanted,” Angie pointed out.
“It was only after Fiddleford recognized you, that you could transform. That’s a component of the spell, but I’m not sure why.”  Ford ran a hand through his hair.  “Judging by the lunar calendar this month, you’ll only be in a human form until the sunrise after tomorrow’s.”
“And then we’re birds again?” Angie whispered.
“No.  The both of you are still birds, even now,” Ford said.  “You’re just in a human form.  Due to the enchantment, you’re no longer humans.  You’re phoenixes, no matter which form you take.”  Angie covered her mouth in horror, tears pricking the corners of her eyes.
“How do we fix it?” Fiddleford interjected.  Ford closed his eyes.
“We can’t.  The enchantment was set in place by a higher planar being with magical abilities we can’t begin to comprehend.  Stan, Angie, I’m sorry.”
“No,” Angie sobbed.  Stan put an arm around her shoulders and squeezed tightly.
“Fiddleford and myself, we can arrange for whatever you want, regarding your human identities,” Ford said.  “And until you leave, we’ll do our best to make you comfortable in the attic.”
“Unless we decide to live in the woods, we don’t have anywhere to go,” Stan whispered.  He swallowed. “We don’t have our place in San Diego anymore.  And even if we did, how- how would we pay the bills?  We can’t have jobs.”
“Stay,” Fiddleford said suddenly.  Stan and Angie looked at him.  Fiddleford reached out and took a hold of one of Angie’s hands.  “You’ve already got a comfortable setup in the attic. We’ll take care of ya.”
“Fidds, that’s- that’s mighty nice,” Angie said weakly.  “But I don’t think I can handle bein’ yer pet again.” She looked over at Molly, still being held by Stan, and choked back a sob.  “This mornin’, bein’ separated from Stan like that, by force and trickery, it’s- I can’t take it no more.”
“Yeah, this morning sucked,” Stan said.  He stroked Molly’s head.  “You guys took Molly and Angie from me.  I knew you were comin’ back, but-”
“If you stay with us, we won’t do that no more,” Fiddleford said.  “You wouldn’t be our pets.  Now we know who ya are, we’ll treat ya the right way.” Angie and Stan were silent. “We’ll give ya some time to think about it.”  Fiddleford stood up.  “Stanford, let’s go discuss how we’ll deal with Tate ‘n this mess.”
-----
Fiddleford walked into the bedroom he shared with Ford and closed the door.
“I don’t think we should tell Tate,” Fiddleford said shortly.  Ford frowned at him.  “Look, he’s just a lil kid.  He could let it slip to someone, or he’d just get more confused.”
“He deserves to know that the phoenixes are his relatives,” Ford insisted. “What’s going to happen when he gets older?  He’s going to treat his aunt, uncle, and cousins like pets.”
“We’ll tell him not to do that.”
               “Fiddleford-”
“Stanford, please.  The less of the Gravity Falls weirdness Tate’s exposed to, the better,” Fiddleford begged.  Ford sighed.
“Fine.  But we’ll revisit this in a few years or so.  I don’t like keeping him in the dark, particularly given that the rest of your family will be told.”
“Fair enough.  When he’s older, we’ll talk again.”  Fiddleford slumped against the door, his face pale.  “Stanford, I just- I can’t handle what we did to Stan ‘n Angie.  Examinin’ ‘em, takin’- takin’ ‘em to the vet, and the stunt we pulled this mornin’.  We- we effectively stole Stan’s wife and child from him.”
               “They aren’t married.”
               “Stanford.”
“But I understand,” Ford said softly.  “I- I examined my twin and Angie, took notes on their…bedroom behavior.” His stomach abruptly plummeted. “Sweet Moses.  Fiddleford, I recorded my twin and your younger sister having sex.”  He dragged his hands down his face.  “I showed pictures of my niece being conceived to an auditorium full of students. A paper is going to published that has pornography of Stan and Angie.”
“Oh, Lord.”  Fiddleford’s pale face turned green.  “We watched our siblings’ sex tape.”  There was a knock on the door.  Fiddleford took a step back.  Stan opened the door and poked his head in.
“Hey, uh, if you’re done talkin’, we decided what to do.”
-----
Ford and Fiddleford followed Stan into the living room.  Angie was sitting in the armchair, holding Molly closely. Stan walked to her and whispered something.  She smiled weakly, but her tight posture didn’t relax.
“You decided on something?” Ford asked.  Angie nodded woodenly.
“We’ll- we’ll take you up on that offer,” Stan said quietly.  He put a comforting arm around Angie’s shoulders. “We don’t- there’s not much else we can do.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll take good care of ya,” Fiddleford said immediately. “You’ll get everything ya need.” Angie looked down at Molly in her arms, clearly fighting back tears.  Fiddleford took a step towards her.  “Banjey…”
“Back off,” Stan snarled.  Fiddleford blanched.  Stan shook his head.  “Sorry, Fidds.  Our, uh, our instincts are runnin’ pretty high right now.  If either of ya get close to Angie or Molly, it’s- it’s not gonna end well.  Just so ya know.”
               “Instincts?” Fiddleford asked.  Stan nodded.
“Turns out birds have strong ones.  Can’t fight ‘em off very well.”  Stan looked at Molly.  “We wouldn’t be parents if we could.”
“Actually, I was curious about that,” Ford said.
               “Figured,” Stan muttered.
“So, during mating season, was the urge to copulate-”
“Not now,” Angie snapped.  “We’re not goin’ to talk ‘bout that right now.  Maybe never.”  She took a breath.  “We- we have some guidelines we’d like ya to follow, when we’re stuck as- stuck as-” Angie cut herself off, her eyes filling with tears.
“We know we’re basically gonna be your roommates that don’t pay rent,” Stan said, “but no matter how cushy the setup you have for us is, we aren’t gonna stay if things keep happenin’ like they have been.”
“Now that we know the truth, we wouldn’t dream of that,” Ford said. “What are your demands?”
“Demands is a strong word,” Angie mumbled.  She shook her head.  “Don’t matter.  First off, get- get rid of all yer pictures of us…makin’ Molly.”
               “Of course,” Ford said.
               “Video too.”
               “Yes.”
“Take down the camera you have upstairs,” Stan said.  Ford nodded.
“No more vet visits,” Angie said quietly.  She held Molly a bit tighter.  A tear fell down her cheek.  “No more.”
               “Of cou-” Fiddleford started.
“Wait,” Ford interrupted.  Stan and Angie stared at Ford.  “We can’t just have a blanket ban on the veterinarian.”
“Stanford!” Fiddleford hissed.  A low growl began to emanate from the back of Stan’s throat.
“Stanley, please,” Ford said, holding his hands up placatingly.  “I understand you were upset by what happened this morning, but-”
“Poindexter, you and Fidds trapped my girlfriend, stole my kid from her bed, and literally held me back from them,” Stan ground out.  “‘Upset’ isn’t even close.”
“Clearly, the surprise vet visits will stop,” Ford said.  “But you’re in bird form for most of the time now. A human doctor won’t be able to make sure you’re healthy.  A human pediatrician won’t be able to tell you your children are developing properly. What if there’s an emergency when you and Angie are in bird form?  The ER can’t do anything for you.”
               “What’s yer suggestion?” Angie asked.
“We find someone else.  Someone experienced with the magical creatures of Gravity Falls.  And we tell them right off the bat that you aren’t normal birds.  You’re sentient.”  Angie and Stan shared a look.  After a moment, Stan nodded.
               “Okay.”
“We’ll concede to bein’ data fer yer research,” Angie said.  “But whenever ya want to examine Molly, one of us has to be there.  And the nonsense with invadin’ our privacy?  That’s done.” Angie glared at Ford. “Examinations can’t take our dignity no more.”
               “Fair enough,” Fiddleford said.
“And we need to find a way fer us to communicate,” Angie said.  Fiddleford and Ford nodded.
“Anything else?” Fiddleford asked.  Angie shook her head.
               “No.”
“Not right now, at least,” Stan said.
“Glad we got some things settled,” Fiddleford said.  He smiled weakly at Angie.  She smiled hesitantly back.  Emboldened, Fiddleford took another step towards Angie.  Stan let out an audible hiss and grabbed Fiddleford’s wrist.
“Fidds,” Stan growled.  “Just ‘cause we look calmed down doesn’t mean we are.  Do you remember what happened when you guys got close to the nest right after Molly was laid?”  Fiddleford nodded.  Stan’s eyes narrowed.  “Well, now I’m bigger than you.  Wanna roll those dice?”  Fiddleford paled.
“Fidds, please,” Angie whispered.  “I know ya just want to comfort us.  But we can’t handle that right now.”
“Okay, okay,” Fiddleford said, stepping back.  Stan and Angie visibly relaxed.  “Are ya up fer callin’ Ma ‘n Pa?”
“No,” Angie said softly.  “But I don’t think I’ll ever be.”  She stood up. “At least they’ll be excited they’ve got such a cute lil granddaughter.”
“The cutest granddaughter they’re ever gonna have,” Stan said proudly.
“Cuter than any future daughters of yours?” Ford asked.  He shrugged.  “Well, we can always find out after next mating season.”
“Don’t remind me,” Stan muttered.  “You’d think I’d like knockin’ boots 24/7.  But it’s not as fun as a bird.”
“Why?” Ford asked, curious despite himself.
“First off, it’s-” Stan started.  Fiddleford cleared his throat.  Stan and Ford looked at the McGuckets, who were wearing identical discomforted expressions.  “…I’ll tell you some other time.”

writing update time!
In progress: sickfic about Beef and Etho, hermit!Tommy oneshot, Give a Dog a Bone (Ren and Scar request, anon I promise I didn't forget), Aletheia part two (Aeor lore drop + Joel and Pixl intros + FH angst of course), Joel and Lizzie Empires fic (blue axolotl prophecy! Jeremyism! Secret relationship trope! What more could you want)
Outlining: promises & prophecies (FH swap au), unnamed Grian memory loss au (I'm sorry oneshot on ao3 but made multichap)
SPDBK is on the backburner atm, not really motivated to work on it rn and everything else feels more interesting lol, though I did have a massive lightbulb moment the other day so I am :eyes: at something at the end owo
ALSO I have an entire extended universe of mcc focused drabbles and ficlets and oneshots but I have written None of it down, it's all just funny scenarios in my head. Like for example a bunch of mcc competitors playing never have I ever, S tier adoption moments, 3rd Life trauma but Battle Box edition, dsmpers being Terrified of Grian, good stuff like that
Currently I am focusing on the Empires stuff because that's what I'm hyperfixating on atm so like Aletheia part 2, blue axolotl wip, swap au, and the mcc stuff is what I'm working on rn

Questions for AO3 writers:
I was tagged by @erurink and @kaguneko , thank you both (this is long but I’ll do my best to not make it unreadable).
I’m going to tag @zedsdead1001 @ackbang and @erurifluff .
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean?
It’s a literary allusion from Shakespeare’s Macbeth . Because I’m a dork. Lady Macbeth has a famous line, “Out, damn’d spot! Out, I say”. When she says this she’s basically being way too insightful for her own good.
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos)
A Place Up North has the most hits/bookmarks/kudos at 601 / 7 / 47 - unsurprising as this is very traditional porn. But the highest hits/kudos ratio is Everyone’s Wingman. The most subs is my ficlet/drabble thing, with 5 (but it’s my only “multichap” work).
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
It’s the same as my Tumblr icon. It’s a little bit from a Takashi Murakami painting that I just really love. His art style is wild and shocking.
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
I don’t think so? If I do I’m so sorry that I haven’t figured it out yet.
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Audacity by Shoi (amazing)
Perfect Fit by Zeds_Dead (porn haha)
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
None. I’m subbed to 5 authors though and I read pretty much anything they write.
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Modern AU, non-reincarnation. I love canonverse for drabbles and ficlets though, the emotions are really raw.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
4 user subs, 6 other subs, 23 bookmarks - it’s not that exciting really.
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
HAHAHAHA, no. Everything I write is embarrassing, I have no shame. I’ve got a tentacle thing in the works. So, yeah, fight me.
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Everything? Is that an answer? Other than that I’d love to write something that is a real multichap instead of long oneshots.
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
So far I only write Eruri, so popular ships. I’ve been thinking about Akira/Ryuji from p5 though...maybe.
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
7
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
Things I’m actively working on: 3. Things I have like a paragraph and and outline for: 2. Things I have a vague idea for...many- 15?
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
Yes. I like to let ideas stew in my head for a while but I tend to write down key parts as I figure them out. Other than that, I’m very intense about outlining once I have an idea set.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
No, I think it would be difficult but a fun challenge.
16. How did you discover AO3?
I got back into reading fanfiction when I started shipping Eruri, and AO3 is the place. I think I may have discovered it while trying to understand wth omegaverse is (kids these days). In sum: I’m old and gross and I don’t care.
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Again, HAHAHAHA, no. I just started writing maybe 1.5 months ago. I’m really very new at it all. But I’m having fun, both with writing and exploring the fandom, so I’m quite pleased with it either way.
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Is this a thing?
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
Ahem, (kaguneko), ahem. Their style is so unique- it’s nothing like my own, but it’s a joy to read and got me thinking that I could probably write things too since they didn’t need to be this huge many-chapter commitment to be fun. Honestly though, the Eruri fandom has a lot of amazing writers and I have a particular soft spot for writers with a sense of humor (Asexual_ravioli and RatFlavored for instance), so they all inspire me constantly.
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Doooooo it. Do the thing.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I outline a lot, even with porn. Especially with porn. I’m kind of obsessive about getting the visual in my head conveyed faithfully. Figuring things out as I go along is fine for shorter stuff though, anything under 2k words I tend to do that way.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Not yet. Honestly, I can’t imagine why anyone would care enough to leave a bad comment on my works. It would be admitting that you read them (haha).
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
I’m most comfortable with silly banter and porn, so things like action I haven’t even attempted yet.
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
Tentacle stuff. Also, something more ambitious that I don’t want to talk about.
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Yes. Doesn’t everyone? There are a lot of fun ideas, how could I possibly stick to just one?
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No, but I probably should. I’m a real life adult so I write when I can.
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Again, I just started writing so it’s hard to make an assessment. However, I do feel like it’s easier to get into the swing of it than when I first started and I’m getting a little quicker and less indecisive.
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
I don’t know, I like all the drabbles/ficlets best, honestly. I like the ficlet entitled Meet Ugly: 1 Star Review which is buried in my multichapter ficlet/drabble thing.
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
I don’t dwell on these things, so just pick whatever porn of mine you hated most- that’s my least favorite.
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I honestly have no idea if I’ll still be writing in 5 years, but it would be fun and I’d hope to have grown in that amount of time as a writer. If I’m still writing I hope future-me has written something longer than 40k words (with chapters)!
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
Getting ideas for more porn.
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Accepting that said porn is no longer hot once you’ve stared at it for hours.
33. Why do you write?
I haven’t really had a creative outlet for about ten years, so I write for myself. It’s a fun stress reliever and it gets me thinking in a very different way than my work does. I’ve also got lots of wild ideas for the frick frack, so that’s probably my ulterior motive.

1, 5, 7 for the end of year fic ask :)
thanks!
1. favourite fic you wrote this year
oooh, that’s a tough one!
one of my personal & underrated faves is probably Sticks and Stones, a oneshot where May reminds Fitz to look after himself in the aftermath of his and Simmons’ encounter with Hydra & Giyera.
I also really enjoyed Suddenly I See (Simmorse, HS AU) bc I really got to embrace the Gay Fluff, and Sounds Like a Song (Daisy, Daisy’s daughter, team as family), a collection of oneshots which has grown on me so fast and has a special place in my heart
5. most popular fic you wrote this year
the most popular in terms of prompts & requests to continue would have to be A Gentleman & a Scholar (FitzSimmons smut), but it doesn’t seem to have the most traffic, likes, or comments
in terms of both kudos and comments apparently (if I’ve got AO3s filters working right), Team Playground Drabbles & Ficlets has the most, which isn’t surprising as each one is quite separate from the others and it features a number of different relationships so it’s likely to get attention from lots of different people. then, more surprisingly, Sounds Like a Song is second in line! and they are CRUSHIN it with more than double the comments of the next in line and more than 4x the number of kudos! wow :D
7. longest completed fic you wrote this year
as you know for the most part I prefer collections of oneshots to completable multichap fic, but I do have a couple of proper - if small - multichaps this year!
the longest of the completed ones is Sparks, a Simmorse author/bodyguard AU! it’s only 7 chapters/13K which is on the shortish side for a multichap, but I’m quite proud I managed to pull it off!

[Part 1] Yoo sorry for late reply, Iris! Two days ago we'd just celebrated Independence Day and I had to finishing some stuff but now it's cleared. Yeaaah.. Almost all of them 👀💦 Anyways! IRIS YOUR DRAWING 😳💗💘 THAT'S SO CUTE YASS THIS IS WHAT I IMAGINED IN MY MIND!! ACCURATE, NAILED IT 😍😩👌💯✨ Ayy don't say like that, your drawings are ADORABLE 💖 I can't even draw something that's not resembled stick&straw 😅😁 KUDOS for cutesy Batarou drawing! Aww, blushing smol kitten Badd.. 😚💕
[Part 2] GuardianSpirit!Garou is Good Boi! Despite he didn't have physical body anymore, he still protecting Badd to show how much he loves him, aww.. I love every Batarou fics or hcs that involving supernatural theme but still fluffy&sweet, also with happy or bittersweet end. So I think your add-ons made me more invested to this AU! 📈📈 You should make it into a fic, it could be oneshot, twoshot, ficlet, or if you fired up enough a multichap! At least this AU could be saved in your draft 😳✨
[Part 3] Oh those are called Chempaka? In here, we usually named Frangipani as Kemboja. Can be found on cemetery, some have planted in home garden or frontyard. The flower can be used as decorative hair ornament for Balinese people, it looks beautiful 😍💕💖 Btw about Kuntilanak, one of many alternative stories about them mentioned that they usually like to sit on banana tree after Maghrib time 😂😂 Idk why but many people have seen them like that 😆
Heyyyy Dyan! It's totally fine! I'm busy with my revisions and studying for my exams so its all good!
Thanks! You've probably never seen my other drawings but they're lacking in quality and then there's so much randomness within it it's impossible to not cringe 😂😂😂
And yessss Spirit!Garou is a good boy indeed, he just portrays how much he still loves Badd even after death. Actually, I'm thinking about starting a small blog where I post drafts or smaller, inconsistent AUs. Tbh it's because I always feel inferior whenver I go online to AO3 to post new chapters or stories thanks to the other greater and more experienced writers out there. I feel like that blog would be multi-fandomed, thanks to my tendency to be pulled under in other fandoms. And also because of me adding other anime characters in certain stories.
Anyways, moving on! I'm not exactly sure what we call it here, but we use Kemboja too! Ummmm yeah we probably call it Kemboja and I often confuse myself with that and Chempaka anyway 😂😂😂
Oh yeah! In Singapore we had this TV series called Incredible Tales, and in one episode there's this man where his friend was like... I'm not sure, but I think he was saying to this guy about tying up his toe with a red string attached with a needle, and to stab it through the heart of the banana tree. Then this guy sees a beautiful woman, commits adultery and then brags about it to his friends the next day. If I'm not wrong, he brought his friends over that night to the tree, and his friends see a Pontianak or Kuntilanak while he sees a beautiful lady. His friends flip out and yelled at him to get away and thrn something happened. Sadly idk the ending so there's that. 😂😂😂😂
And Yessssss Kembojas are BEAUTIFUL I've always wanted to collect them whenever they fall off the tree but then my family would always pick it up and throw it outside, telling me that it houses the 'makhluk halus'. I still want one though 😂
