At this time, indications of human genetic sex were beginning to be obtained by using the 1949 discovery of Murray L. Barr, a cytologist at the University of Western Ontario: routine staining revealed a small satellite (eventually called a "Barr body") near the nucleolus in the cells of females but not usually in of males.

If you’re gonna watch Home On The Range then be prepared to see Roseanne Barr, the bride of Chucky and Judi Dench to kick Bill Murray’s brother’s ass and also THE catchiest Disney villain song of the last 20 years.
sdgsdafds you make it sound really good! I definitely need to get on it asap. The cast is stacked at least. And the animation looks pretty good, from the tiny clips I've seen. I'll try to watch it soon!

26. if you were gm of your favorite team for a day what would you do?
Tumblr media
i would be the worst gm in the world. (well. not really. the bar's pretty low.)
KYLE I'M AVAILABLE FOR THE GM POSITION FOR ONE DAY.
I promise to
make our cap situation unsalvageable by getting our babygirl and chaos gremlin back BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. dumo wants 9 million a year? give it to him. zucker wants it written in blood that nobody will take him off geno's wing ever again? i'll donate mine, let's do this.
yeet desmith into the sun with my bare hands. gimme two days; i'm about to start my period and i could do this via pure force of rage.
i don't know how but i'm getting rid of petry. every time i remember that he makes more than geno and tanger i become violently angry. its insulting. he's gotta go. (or he can stay for half the salary. your choice, babe, i can be reasonable here)
bring flower back (sorry MN). LET HIM RETIRE A PENGUIN. i'll bring murray back too so jars has a buddy since having flower back will probably be stressful for him. flower/jars tandem with enough rest for both, murray's on ltir so he's just chillin' presumably in some sort of polycule situation with jars featuring very large dogs, our other 62 goalies are hanging out in wilkes-barre, i guess. sorry boys.
i'd try to get karlsson, who would laugh at me, because i spent all our money getting dumo and zucker back, so i'd have to send sid in to get that deal done, but i have faith in that ass to make miracles happen 🥰

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Scott McKenzie, the singer-songwriter best known for his association with John Phillips and the 1967 Summer of Love anthem “San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair),” the sonic tract that called 1000s of young people to California.
Phillips (who played on the track with The Wrecking Crew) wrote the song to appease authorities concerned that hippies would overrun the Bay Area for the Monterey Pop Festival. Peace and love prevailed. The song has been used in several films and was a theme for the Prague Spring Czech uprising in 1968. That same year, McKenzie’s next Top 40 hit “Like an Old Time Movie” (also written and played by Phillips) segued with McKenzie writing “What About Me” for Anne Murray (her first hit single).
Like many artists circa 1960, McKenzie morphed out of doo-wop and became a folkie, joining the New York folk scene that beget The Mamas & The Papas. Phillips initially invited McKenzie to join that group but he declined, saying he didn’t want “the pressure.” Years later McKenzie joined a road version of The Mamas & The Papas in 1986. Concurrently, the Phillips-McKenzie team joined Mike Love and Terry Melcher to create the huge Beach Boys hit “Kokomo.”
The evergreen “San Francisco” remains McKenzie’s best-known work (he passed from Guillain-Barre syndrome in 2010). Periodically I dabbled with the song, dirty demo-ing a grunge-y Iggy Pop-like update: https://johnnyjblairsingeratlarge.bandcamp.com/track/san-francisco-be-sure-to-wear-flowers-in-your-hair-demo-remastered-2020
HB and RIP Scott.

Eunice Guthrie Murray was born on 21st January 1878 in Cardross.
Eunice Murray was the daughter of a well-known Glasgow lawyer, Dr David Murray and Frances Porter Murray, Murray was one of the founders of the Glasgow Ladies Higher Education Society in 1876,  both her parents were both supporters of the women’s movement, her mother, Frances was born in New York, and raised in Scotland, was a suffragette. Frances’s parents  both of whom were active abolitionists, emigrated to Glasgow in 1844.
Murray attended the progressive St Leonard School in St Andrews, where she became involved in philanthropic activities. She was active in the local branch of the League of Pity, volunteered regularly at a local settlement, and was an advocate for temperance. On 9th November 1896 she recorded reading about the formation of the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies, commenting
‘I should like to join such a society for the question of the emancipation of my sex is a stirring one and leads to vital matters’.
Given her background it is hardly surprising that along with her mother and her sister, Sylvia Murray, she joined the Women’s Freedom League. The WFL had a strong presence in Scotland, and from 1909 onwards Murray was the secretary for ‘scattered members’—all those who did not live in Edinburgh, Glasgow, or Dundee. Eunice was one of the three Scottish members on the WFL’s national executive committee and in 1913 was described as president for Scotland of the WFL.
The Women’s Freedom League was a non-violent militant group most famous for first chaining themselves to railings and leading the 1911 Census boycott. Inspired after attended the International Women’s Suffrage Alliance in Budapest in 1913, Eunice Murray was arrested for obstruction when she tried to address a meeting near 10 Downing Street on women’s suffrage.
Unlike the Pankhursts’ Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) and the National Union of Women’s Suffrage Societies (NUWSS), the WFL continued to campaign for the women’s suffrage throughout the First World War. Murray was an active feminist who had published numerous leaflets on women and their position in society  such as The Illogical Woman. Like many feminists, Murray argued for the vote based on the unique roles of men and women. She observed, ‘We have always held, and hold now, that it is because men and women are so different, and not because they are so alike, that we require the vote.
In 1918, women in Britain finally won their right to vote and stand in general elections, if they were over 30 and met minimum property qualifications, and Eunice was quick to take advantage of this major breakthrough and stood as a candidate in Glasgow, Bridgeton in the 1918 election,  the only Scottish woman in the first election open to women in 1918,  she was unsuccessful, coming third. The results being Coalition Liberal Alexander MacCallum Scott 10,887, Labour James Maxton 7,860 and Independent Eunice Murray 991.
The election was held in the midst of the Spanish Flu epidemic with 327 deaths in the Glasgow that week, compared to 386 the previous week. Schools and docks were closed when half a million Glaswegians took to the polls, of which just over one-third were newly enfranchised women.  In response to a claim that all women candidates were pacifists she wrote to the Spectator on 23rd November 1918, ‘I believe that the war we have just fought and won was a righteous one, and that it was the duty of newly enfranchised women to support the country’.
The election saw the defeat of the Asquith Liberals and the landslide of the Coalition Liberals. Murray was not deterred by her defeat and went to on to have an active political life. Elected as councillor in 1923 to Dunbartonshire Council, Murray was also the founder and President of the Scottish Women’s Rural Institute in the area.
Eunice Murray died on 26th March 1960 having led an active and inspirational life and today we remember her as the first women to break the barrier in Scotland to stand as an MP.

WES PARKER (Luke Grimes) is looking for their SIBLINGS.
CONNECTION NAME:
UTP, but surname should be Parker. It would be nice if all the siblings had western / country sort of vibe names, but completely up to you!
CONNECTION:
Siblings
AGE:
These ages are approximate. Obviously it will depend on the face you choose and what makes sense for their age according to Wes! Wes is 36, and is the second eldest of the four siblings. Sibling 1: 38-39 Sibling 2: 33-35 Sibling 3: 30-32
FACECLAIM:
Up to player, of course, but here are some suggestions for each sibling.
Sibling 1: Adam Demos (39), Travis Van Winkle (41), Boyd Holbrook (43), Matt Barr (40), Charlie Hunnam (44), Chad Michael Murray (43), Jesse Lee Soffer (40), Luke Mitchell (39) Sibling 2: Scott Eastwood (38), Sam Claflin (38), Austin Butler (34), Brenton Thwaites (35), Liam Hemsworth (35), Jake Weary (34) Sibling 3: Daisy Edgar Jones (26), Kennedy McMann (27), Abigail Cowen (26), Meghann Fahy (34), Jessica Rothe (37)
BACKGROUND
Just going to do dot points here for the sake of keeping it easy lol. Feel free to hmu for more deets!
The Parker fam were born and raised on Silver Creek Ranch, located on the outskirts of Briar Ridge Hills. It spans a thousand acres ish. Wes lives there now for the last six months- a year with his mom and his grandparents, and I imagine the eldest brother and their nephew living there. Perhaps the grandparents live in a separate cabin somewhere on the property, and maybe the eldest sibling does too.
Wes is the second sibling of the four children. There are three brothers, and the youngest is their sister.
Their dad was a famous bull rider who was away more often than not. He was kind of hard on the kids, and I feel especially Wes for some reason. He left them when Wes was about 11 years old for another woman. He was never really faithful towards their mom, and kind of always a crappy husband and father. The kids don't have that much contact with them, Wes - none at all. But it's up to you what youd like for your character!
The eldest brother is a father. Whether he is married, divorced, co-parenting or a single parent raising his son on his own, he has a little boy. I imagine their nephew to be about 7 or 8 years old, but I'm more than happy to change this! I just headcanon that Wes' nephew helps him read, so at least five years old would be amaaaazing! The eldest brother probably helps to run the ranch and very much gives cowboy vibes.
The younger brother (third of the siblings), most likely doesn't live on the ranch and is off doing his own thing/own career. Think Beau from the Chestnut Springs series. Now I do have a really fun potential plot involving Wes' ex girlfriend now dating this brother 👀 the more chaos the better, but if you're interested in this plot I'm down to discuss deets.
Their sister is the youngest of the clan, and the one who resembles their dad the most. She and Wes are as thick as thieves, and she's probably the only sibling/family member who actually supported his bull riding career. The brothers constantly feel the need to protect her because she's their baby sister, but she's feisty in her own right!
EXTRA
You can check out this pinterest board of their family, and also this one of their family ranch for some inspo!
Here is Wes' bio for more reference.

Daniel "Butch" A. Peters
Tumblr media
Daniel "Butch" A. Peters, 84, formerly of Harvey’s Lake, Pennsylvania, passed away on February 15, 2024, at River View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilkes-Barre after a two-year struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Butch was born on October 20, 1939, to Albert and Zequa Salitt Peters in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter and son-in-law, Tracey and Thomas Murray, grandchildren Thomas, Louis, Michael, and William Murray, Forty Fort, son Daniel Peters, and also Marianne Peters, the mother of his children. Butch is also survived by many loving friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Butch was a graduate of Meyers High School, a graduate of the first graduating class of LCCC. Shortly after while attending King’s College for a degree in business, he started Peters’ Ice Cream and Deli, Peters’ Gift Shoppe, and Pete’s Place Pizza, which he proudly ran for 53 years. Over his five decades in business, countless customers became friends and looked forward to seeing him everyday. Everyone loved Peters and the fond memories will continue to live on far beyond Butch’s passing. Butch was the patriarch of his family; he loved entertaining family and friends, especially hosting his annual crab party and Bloody Mary Sundays, and various other holiday gatherings. In his free time, Butch enjoyed hanging with friends out the lake, always seen cruising in one of his convertibles and never missing a happy hour. Butch’s passion for cars started at an early age and continued throughout his life; growing up, his grandsons always loved going for rides and share this same passion to this day because of him. Butch touched the lives of many during his lifetime through his stories and jokes, and the multitude of memories shared with him by all will never be forgotten.
Butch was a member of the Masonic Lodge, an Irem Temple Shriner and member of the ROJ Court 154. He was in the Army Reserves and a member of the American Legion.
Butch was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Anthony Peters, and sister Emily Peters Taroli.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at River View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Compassionate Care Hospice for their exceptional care.
Per his request, a private funeral service to honor and celebrate Butch's life will be held at the Hugh B. Hughes and Sons in Forty Fort, PA. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
