So recently I've been watching X-Men 97 with some friends, and something I keep hearing is people in the series constantly refer to each other as either human or mutant. While some non mutants making such a differentiation would make sense, I don't think it makes sense for mutants especially the smart ones, or even scientists to say mutants are different from humans. Also, it's not just X-Men 97, it's the movies and the comics as well. There's even a line from the movies where someone says humans evolved from Neanderthals and wiped out Neanderthals. All this misunderstands how evolution works. There is an evolutionary rule called the Law of Monophyly the rule goes that you will always be part of the group you evolved from. It's why humans are still apes and will always be apes no matter how much we evolve. Humans are also still sarcopterygian fish, and we will never stop being sarcopterygian fish. So mutants are humans and will always be humans. As for the Neanderthal thing, Neanderthals are a sister species to Homo Sapiens but are still part of genus homo making them humans too. Homo Sapiens did not evolve from Neanderthals either. So while I get maybe someone who doesn't know who evolution works or simply hates mutants would say mutants aren't humans. I don't get how scientists or someone like Charles Xavier would make such a blunder. I think the only character I've seen that didn't make this mistake and basically corrected everyone else, was the evil robot Master Mold. In his words, "That is not logical, mutants are human. Therefore humans must be protected from themselves."

My favorite Cyclops characterization is when he's just an absolute dork of a man. Like, yeah, he's a brilliant strategist and competent leader but he's also eaten nothing but soup for the past five days, organizes his underwear by color, and acts either like a 40 year old man or a teenager with no in-between. Scott is an OCD/autistic man with everything together but his life and his brain is filled with nothing but battle strategy and Seinfeld reruns. Scott Summers is the world's smartest dumbass.
TOP 10 CARTOONS ON FANFICTION.NET BASED ON NUMBER OF FANFICTION (1999-2022)
To make this bar chart race, all series titles in the Cartoons Section on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.
In 2000-2006, FFN used Miscellaneous Cartoons as a catch-all tag for all cartoons that didn’t have their own category yet. It was then renamed to Misc. Cartoons in 2007 before it was moved to the Misc. section in 2008.
Code Lyoko and Avatar: The Last Airbender were actually miscategorized at first and were found in the Anime section from 2004-2007 (2005-2007 for ATLA). I used their data from that section for those years.
In 1999, fanfiction weren’t divided into sections like Anime/Manga, TV, Books, etc. yet. It was just a small list of mixed fandoms.
Originally, the fanfiction list was sorted alphabetically too, but was changed to number of fics at around early 2013.
By November 2013, FFN started abbreviating numbers above 1,000 to K, so exact numbers aren't available for series with more than 1,000 fanfiction.
This bar chart was made with the assumption that the numbers listed in the Cartoons section are correct. I can't seem to get the same numbers for some of these categories when I go to the specific categories' page and toggle ratings, other filters, and language to All though... I'm not sure where the discrepancy is coming from. (And it’s not the crossover fic numbers that need to be added to serie’s total fics from what I’ve observed.)
Please refer to this post for more bar chart races.
Thanks for understanding and hopefully I didn’t mess up anywhere! 🙏
Mystique gets sent to court for tax evasion and the brotherhood need to defend her in court. This doesn't make any sense legally. But I can do what I want.
Brotherhood of Mutants redraw. I surprisingly had the hardest time coming up with Lance’s look. I think I made him look WAY too old, my Lance is deffo not into Kitty….oooh should I do a Kitty screenshot next?
