heyy Elle, could you please write poly!moonchaser × reader where Remus is hurting physically because of the full moon (either before and after) and reader and James take care of him and comfort him
our sweet moonchaser <333 thanks for your request lovie
please note: my requests are currently closed as I finish exams and work through the requests that I currently have.
poly!moonchaser x fem!reader who checks in on them after the moon
This was silly; what were you so afraid of?
Okay, perhaps afraid wasn’t the right word, but the way your hands were sweating and your heart was racing (and your thoughts were spiralling) would suggest otherwise.
You had been with Remus and James for about two months before Remus finally shared his secret with you.
You couldn’t deny that you had a hunch - you’d been friends with the boys for a few years now and were aware that Remus has some kind of affliction that caused him issues approximately once a month that James and the other two Marauders seemed to help him with. That, along with the fact that you were very good at astronomy and tracking moon cycles (which was also very useful in Herbology), it didn’t come as a complete surprise when he admitted to you that he was a werewolf.
You were glad he had told you, and though he had given you the chance then to ask him any questions you may have had, you only told him you were glad he trusted you.
Now, though? Now you wished you had asked more questions.
Like what the hell were you supposed to do after full moons now?
Before he had told you, he would fall ill for about three days around the end of the moon cycle, and though you would see James in class the day after, he would scurry back to his room citing that he didn’t want you to get sick and was going to go check in on Remus.
And that had been fine.
Because like you said, you had a hunch.
But now…
Now that you knew, it seemed rude not to check in on him, right?
It would be rude to wait around for your afflicted boyfriend to come and find you after going through relative hell and back, wouldn’t it?
So…you braved yourself to check in on the boys in the infirmary.
Except Madame Pomfrey had informed you that Remus had been allowed to return to his dorm to rest.
And then you nearly lost your nerve again.
Get it together. You scolded yourself. Those boys would likely love a visit.
And even if they weren’t up for a visit, you had brought some chocolate for Rem; perhaps you could leave them with Sirius or Peter.
You crawled through the portrait hole into the Gryffindor common room to an unusually (and frankly disturbingly) quiet sight.
Sirius was lounging sloppily on the three-seater sofa with a book in his hands as Peter sat on a cushion by the fire playing a game of exploding snap with Marlene.
“Hey Sirius.” You said quietly as you approached the long-haired boy. He looked up at your voice and his surprised expression turned into a salacious one.
“Hello there gorgeous, to what do I owe the pleasure?”
Peter snorted, though he never moved his attention from his game. “You’re lucky Prongs and Moony aren’t down here; you’d have been walloped good for hitting on their girl.”
Sirius scoffed in faux derision. “That’s what they get for kicking me out of my own dorm, Wormy.”
You felt your face blanche at the fact that even Sirius wasn’t allowed upstairs. What would make you any different?
Stupid girl.
“Come to see your boys?” Sirius continued, unawares of your inner turmoil.
“Erm,” You started awkwardly, looking down at the silly box of Honeydukes chocolates in your hand. “I just came to drop this off; maybe you can give it to Rem for me?”
Sirius’ teasing expression softened when he looked down at the box you were holding out to him.
“Sorry doll. Like I said, I’ve been banished. You’d have better luck delivering them yourself.”
You tried (and failed) to hide your grimace as you looked towards the stairs to the boys dorm. “I wouldn’t want to bother them.” You admitted shyly.
“You misunderstand, L/N.” Marlene commented. “He’s a bother.” She explained, pointing a manicured finger accusatively as Sirius. “They’d probably cream their pants if you walked in right now.”
“Ew.” You, Peter, and Sirius chorused.
“She’s right though.” Peter agreed, grimacing at Marlene for her rather uncouth comment before turning to look at you. “Pad’s is the only one who was thoroughly banished from the room; I’m only down here because I didn’t feel like third-wheeling.”
“Yeah, I wonder why he was banished.” Marlene muttered sarcastically as she returned to their card game.
“Why were you banished?” You queried, causing Sirius to roll his eyes.
“They accused me of being a menace.” He drawled; the end of his sentence punctuated by a small explosion on the opposite side of the common room which covered a few third year Gryffindor’s in a fluorescent blue powder.
Sirius - gods love him - didn’t even flinch as he held your eye contact “I never said the accusations were unfounded.”
“Go on; check on your lover boys.” Marlene encouraged, shooting you a wink.
You took in a shaky breath and offered them all a smile before making your way upstairs.
Trying to be as quiet as possible, you knocked gently on the door alerting the boys to your presence before pushing the door open and stepping inside.
You could make out two forms curled up on Remus’ bed. James’ back was turned towards you as his slightly wider frame curled protectively around Remus’.
James turned to look over his shoulder at the disruption with an expression far more stern than you think you’ve ever seen on him, but it softened astronomically when he realised who had entered.
“Hi there!” He whispered brightly, causing Remus to stir. “I was just about to tell Pads to get fucked; this is a nice surprise.” He said as he extricated himself from Remus’ bed and began to make for you.
“Who is it?” Remus’ voice could be heard muffled through the blankets he was holding over his head.
“It’s your dovey, Moons.” James said as he pulled you into his chest and pressed a kiss into your hair.
Remus sat up - likely too quickly in his current state - to see for himself.
“Hi lovie.” He whispered in awe; as if seeing you was some miraculous feat.
“Hi Rem. I’m sorry to bug you, I just wanted to-”
“No!” Both boys interrupted you, causing James to laugh.
“No, you’re no bother; of course not. Com’ere.” He said as he threw his legs over the side of the bed and opened his arms as an invitation for you.
Not needing to be told twice, you accepted his embrace and he pulled you into his lap.
“I won’t stay long.” You whispered up at him as James joined him beside the bed to look down at you.
“Please do.” He whispered back. He looked okay, if not extremely tired; he didn’t seem to have any new scars from what you could see, and he was clearly in good enough spirits to entertain you.
“He’s likely getting tired of spending time with just me.” James explained solemnly.
“He’s a coddler.”
“Are you really?” You asked James.
James rolled his eyes and shook his head good-naturedly. “Listen, once a month I get to fuss over this sweet man; you best believe I take full advantage.”
You hummed in understanding and looked back at Remus. “You’re always so busy taking care of everyone else; it makes sense you wouldn’t know what to do when someone returns the favour.” You explained, fiddling with the hem of his t-shirt.
“Is that why you’re here, Angel?” James said as he tickled your neck teasingly. “You here to take care of him?”
You pushed his hand away and handed Remus the box of chocolates. “I was just bringing you chocolate.”
Remus looked as though you had just handed him a key to the city and not a measly box of chocolates.
“Thank you dovey.” He said earnestly as he pressed a gentle yet lingering kiss to your lips.
You broke apart at the sound of James snorting.
“‘Just bringing him chocolate’ she says. You’ll be lucky if you see the outside of this dorm room in the foreseeable future.” He proclaimed as he picked you up bridal style out of Remus’ lap eliciting a squeal from your lips and he fell backwards onto the bed, situating the two of you there as Remus shifted back into the bed and curled himself around you.
“Your new job every month is cuddles from now on, ‘kay?” Remus whispered into your ear as James pulled the blankets up around the three of you. You couldn’t help but breathe out a laugh through your nose as you nuzzled further into him.
“Sounds good to me.” You agreed readily, accepting another kiss from James as he settled beside you.
You’d take away Remus’ pain in a heartbeat if you could, but if this was all you could do for him instead, well…there were certainly worse ways to spend your time.

Sirius Black - Sweet Rubbish
Tumblr media
Pairing : (F/M) || Sirius Black x Reader Word Count : 5.2k Warning : I don’t know, nothing I suppose. Synopsis : Their game of love hate pretend has to put to halt as Sirius gazed into the crystal ball. Notes : Post number 1 for my 7-days post celebration. If you like this story and would like to support me, please visit my kofi page and perhaps get me a coffee?☕
“Divination is rubbish.”
Sirius whines as he drags his feet to the class, spiteful mumbles escaping his lips with every step closer to the dreadful lesson. He loathes Divination class, to say the least. Other than the fact that the Professor always rambles about nonsense Sirius could never comprehend, sharing the hour with her irks him to the bone.
“Just because your pea-sized brain couldn't compute the knowledge given does not mean the class is rubbish, Black.”
Sirius sent dagger eyes at the girl who now walks past him with her head held high. There is no unit in this entire universe that could measure the level of hatred he has for her. She's the bane to his existence. Not a day passed without him seeing her face and wanting to take out his wand to mess her beautifully combed hair or to hex her to trip from her graceful walk. Pity she is the way that she is. He would have admitted she's magnetising if she wasn't.
“Didn't your parents ever teach you that it is improper to reply to someone when they weren't talking to you in the first place?”
“You were yelling for the whole corridor to hear, I was only doing it out of pity from the lack of feedback. Even your friends look like they've had enough of your moans.” She replies, stopping her pace to turn at him with an unamused smile “You're not denying your pea-sized brain, then?”
“My brain isn't pea-sized, it's huge! Humongous even!”
“Of course it is.”
With another toxic laced smile, she turns away and continues her journey to the class. A complete contrast to the sulking boy, she seems to be in her best mood today. Divination has always been one of the many classes she excels at. She has a clever mind and witty brain, complementing her charming personality. Just another trait of hers Sirius detests.
“One way or another I will rip off that ever so brilliant smile off of her face.”
James scoffs, “Right, mate.”
“What was that?” Sirius turns to his friends, looking incredibly offended at the unamused expressions his friends were showing “Why don’t any of you ever believe it when I express my despise to that girl?”
“Because you’re all bark and no bite, Pads.” Remus chimes “You’ve hated her since you first laid eyes on her yet you never did anything. You even got mad at Wormy for accidentally pranking her back in 3rd year.”
“Indeed,” Nods Peter, looking rather pissed at the flashback of Sirius’ overdramatic anger at him a couple years back “If I didn’t know better, I’d say you’re secretly in love with her.”
“Me? In love with her?” He asks with a bewildered expression “I’d rather drown by the Black Lake than to ever imagine being in love with her.”
“If you say so, Pads.” James says, patting on his best friends’ shoulder as if he understands the underlying message Sirius was implying “If you say so.”
—-
Sirius stares blankly at the Professor’s face. His mind wanders elsewhere, completely detached to his surroundings. From the corner of his eyes, he could see her sitting just a few tables below him on the right. Her posture was straight as always, complete focus and attention poured to the lesson taught. Her house coloured headband glimmers under the light of the class, enhancing the beauty of her hair. Sirius has imagined running his finger through the soft strands of her hair every once in a while, wondering what scent her shampoo would be but he would rather be jinxed with the cruciatus curse than to ever admit it aloud.
He doesn’t love her. No, love is the complete opposite of the emotions he holds for her. Sirius hates her, loathes her in fact. He couldn’t pinpoint the fundamental reasoning behind his strong abhorrence for her, he just does. Perhaps the fact that she’s too good at everything, or that she’s genuinely loved by everyone including his best friends, or that she’s simply too perfect of a girl to ever be real.
Perhaps the idea of someone being too perfect that he couldn’t ever dream of being deserving of her, makes him hate her.
“This is horse shit.” James mumbles. The bespectacled boy then turns to the thick textbook laying on their table, skipping through the pages to find any interesting rituals they could do to fill in the time “Pads, do you want to see your future?”
Sirius glanced at James, confusion filling in his eyes, “What do you mean?”
“This,” James points at a spell on the Crystal Ball reading chapter “Looks a lot more fun than whatever mambo-jumbo the professor’s talking about, doesn't it?”
“Looks like another lark, that is.”
James rolled his eyes, “Shut up and stare at the ball. I’ll say the spell and you tell me what you see, alright?”
Sirius huffs, clearly wanting no part but hearing the Professor’s lecture for another minute would certainly burst his brain out. Reluctantly, he stares at the crystal ball with a hand supporting his chin. A small frown decorating his face. James’ whisper of the spell begins to enter his eardrums, making the slightest flame of intrigue and curiosity spark in his chest.
The once cleared crystal ball now turns cloudy, some kind of mist begins to pollute the inside of it. Sirius brows furrow, completely taken aback by the effect happening. He certainly didn’t expect James’ mispronunciation of the latin spell to work, yet here they are.
“What do you see?” James asked.
“Nothing yet,” He answers “Just some ugly grey fog.”
“Look harder!”
“I’m trying!”
And as if on cue, Sirius begins to see some sort of vision. He wasn’t even sure if it was truly happening or was his brain just playing tricks with him, but either way the grey mist now turns into shapes, slowly forming what seems to be a ceremonial venue. There were chairs lining up in front of him with flowers decorating them. He was wearing a suit, the most elegant suit he’s ever worn and there have been plenty of dress robes he’s worn in his life yet nothing compares to the grandeur of the one he’s wearing at the moment. He looks to his side, noticing the mists that now become James, Remus, Peter, and Regulus standing a couple metres away from him.
His gaze now averted to where the rose petaled aisle ends. A woman was standing with her bouquet of flowers in her hand. Her beautiful silk dress sweeps the floor as she takes the first steps closer to him. Her face was still blurred, as if the mist was still trying to craft the person’s face. A small smile now tugs on the corner of Sirius’ lips, feeling proud and content of the setting he’s in. Whoever this person is, it pleases Sirius to know that the crystal ball predicted a pleasant romance in his future.
The vision felt real now as Sirius’ heart began to palpitate, feeling the warmth of her gloved hands as it reached for his. His smile grows wider, cheeks warm from the fulfilment. It no longer feels like he was watching a prophecy, no, it feels more like he was in the scene, slowly occupying the body that is now reciting the vows the priest was saying. The feeling only gets more intense as he finally shares the kiss with his bride. He swears he could feel her soft lips on his, the hint of cherry from her lip gloss and her warm heavy breathing on his skin. It feels too real to be just a forecast.
After what seems to be the shortest forever, they finally pull away. She was smiling, her warm eyes gazing back at him with love and admiration. Her features were soft, much more beautiful than how he always thought now that he no longer had to deny the beauty of his wife. She giggles, calling his name
“Sirius!” James silently yelled, nudging his best friend with an annoyed expression “You completely ignored me for the last five minutes!”
Sirius blinks, trying to comprehend his reality.
“You were gone,” His best friend continued “What happened? What did you see?”
The raven haired boy cleared his throat, “Nothing. I– Uh– I saw nothing.”
“Bullshit, you definitely saw something.” James scoffs “Your cheeks are red!”
“I didn’t see anything, alright!” Sirius defends with more persistence “Must be because of your shitty pronunciation or something, I don’t know!”
James frowns, muttering his confusion on how his spell fails when it wasn’t the most tongue-twisting one he’s done before. Sure he wasn’t the most brilliant out of them four with charms, but he was still better than most and nailing a spell in the first trial wasn’t a new thing for James. He wanted to argue more about the hunch he has that Sirius was lying but the boy looks like he’s seen a ghost. Perhaps the spell did work and the vision Sirius had was just something he’s not ready to talk about. Whatever it is, James has made it his mission to find out, be it today or tomorrow.
—-
The next couple of days the strange behaviour Sirius tries his best to hide is becoming more and more visible. He would skip his meals and turn the other way when she was around. Even when she was busy with her group of friends and completely unaware of his presence, Sirius would still avoid her like the plague. He would exchange seats in classes he shares with her, occupying the furthest spot from her and blocking his view physically from her.
And such action didn’t go unnoticed for too long.
“Have you been sick or did the dementors kidnap you, Black?” She mused, taking a seat opposite of him and next to Remus “I haven’t seen you lately.”
Sirius gulps, completely frozen in his seat.
“Morning, Love.” Remus greets her “He’s been avoiding everyone, don’t take it personally.”
“Has he? Here I thought I was a special someone to be receiving such treatment.”
“He’s been acting strange since divination class,” James says as he swallowed the bits of food in his mouth “We were fooling around and tried to read his future through the crystal ball and– Oof! What was that for?”
James yelped at the sudden nudge to his rib. Sirius glares at him, sending him a death threat.
“Really? I thought you said Divination is rubbish, Sirius.” She teased, her playful smile decorating her face “What did you see? Anything interesting?”
Sirius lowers his gaze to his plate of food, not daring to spend another second staring at her face. His skin feels warm, like the temperature somehow raised a couple degrees and he’s the only one boiled.
The lack of response from him somehow twisted a knife she didn’t know was stabbing her heart. It was evident that he was avoiding her, for whatever reason he might have. His silent treatment now only proves the effort he’s made to keep his distance that she so hard convinced herself was nothing more than a mere illusion. Sirius, as loud and apparent as his claims of vexation for her all these years, still holds a soft spot and that their love-hate relationship was nothing more than a silly game of pretend. Perhaps she was wrong all along.
“Well, I’ve got to go,” She fakes a chirpy persona, taking his mute to be her cue to leave “I’ll see you gentlemen around.”
As if a splinter’s been taken off of his toe, Sirius lets out a relieved sigh once she leaves their table. The audible huff made his friends raise their brows high, completely lost at the charade he’s playing. The two would always bicker, picking fights and arguments over the slightest most trivial matters that more often than not the boys would wish that they could hex the two with some stunning spell. Yet for the first time in their lives, they’re left wondering why Sirius would zip his mouth shut in her presence.
“What?” Sirius asks, noticing the questioning eyes glued on him.
“Do you really expect us to look past the fact that you didn’t spare her a word for the first time in your life?” Peter asks, fully suspicious of his friend’s antics “Are you ill, Padfoot?”
James whines, “Come on, mate, tell us what you saw on that crystal ball.”
“I saw nothing, Prongs.” Sirius says with a more stern tone “And I’m not ill, Wormy.”
“Well you’re certainly not straight in the head.”
“Oh yeah, Moony? And what makes you say that?”
Remus shrugs, “You’ve been acting strange for days and now that she’s here you’re completely ignoring her. Did she break your heart or something?”
“No, no she didn’t.” Sirius fidgets, tapping on his cheek as he looks at Remus accusingly “Say, when you call her ‘Love’, do you just– You know, casually call girls that or do you mean it like.. I don’t know.. Like my Love kind of thing?”
Remus turned to James with a baffled expression while Peter now had his jaw hang low. The three boys are now whisked deeper into the maze, trying to decipher Sirius’ true intention. He was never as cryptic and never held secrets from the boys before, always been the most open and true to others yet he’s acting like a completely different person now.
“Oh Merlin, is that what you see?” James asks with a shocked tone “Moony and her? Did you see them snog each other?”
“What? No!”
“That wouldn’t make sense, Prongs. If Moony was snogging her then it should be Moony who’s seeing the prophecy, not Padfoot.” Peter comments, slowly understanding the riddle as the smirk grows on his face “Did you see your future with her, Pads?”
Sirius cheeks heat up, shaking his head vigorously, “No.”
“You totally did, you tosser!” Remus points out with a victorious smile “You actually saw a future with her, didn’t you?!”
Sirius buries his face to his palm, trying to cover his now crimson face.
“You are so pathetic, Pads.” James laughed, completely entertained by the sight in front of him “All these years expressing your disdain for her only to have the universe pairing you two all along.”
“I don’t know Prongs, he’s always been in love with her for me.” Remus pours more salt “He’s just too embarrassed to admit it.”
Peter chuckles, circling his arm around Sirius’ shoulder to make him come out of his shell, “So what exactly did you see, Padfoot?”
—-
Coming clean to the boys only made Sirius more conscious. They have been acting as persisting bees in his head, lecturing him non stop and urging him to let go of the cat and mouse game and just come forward with his feelings. Crystal gazing is one of the most conceivable forms of divination, as Remus notes, yet the chance of the prophecy being false was never zero. No kind of divination is 100% false proof and Sirius still couldn’t tell if the vision he saw was a true prediction of his future or was it just a manifestation of his deep desire for her.
And if all this hype was caused by the latter, Sirius wouldn’t know how to survive from the heartbreak.
So now he finds himself walking to the other side of the castle, taking small steps as he climbs the stairs to the Divination class. He has to see the prophecy once more, make sure that the spell James uttered that day was right and that the crystal ball was truly predicting his future with her. He needs to know that his head wasn’t playing tricks with him just because he’s been turning deaf to what his heart has been yearning for all these years.
Coming inside the class, Sirius' pace was put to halt when he spotted her, sitting on her usual table as she gazed into the crystal ball. She looks up to him, probably hearing the sound of the creaking wooden floor when he enters and flashes him a smile, looking surprised to see him yet appreciative at the same time.
“Sirius,” She calls with a pleasant tone “What a surprise.”
He gulps, “I– Uh, I think I left my textbook here.”
“Did you? I think the Professor stacks the left textbooks on that corner, perhaps you’ll find yours there.” She points at a cupboard, seemingly buying the lie Sirius came up with.
“What are you doing here?”
“Crystal gazing.” She answers “Would you like to join?”
Sirius hesitated but found himself sitting next to her, heart pounding loud inside his chest from the close space. Sure it wasn’t the first time they sat next to each other, but it certainly is the first time they’re together with no other soul present. This is the first time they act civil, if not friendly, to each other. This is the first time, after seeing their wedding prophecy, they’re at each other’s company.
“Should we see yours or my prophecy?”
“Yours.” Sirius answers.
“You’d like to see mine?”
“Can we do that?” He asks, completely oblivious of the topic “When I tried it with James he couldn’t see my prophecy.”
“Well, I am not James, am I?”
Sirius smiles.
“Put your hand just above the ball.. Yeah, just like that,” She instructed him, utterly unaware of the nervous havoc Sirius was feeling when she touched his hand and positioned it above the ball “Are you ready?”
He nods.
She begins to cast the spell, something similar to the one James uttered but this one was lengthier. Like she knew a different, more advanced, spell to use for their fortune telling ritual. Sirius' eyes now travels from her to the crystal ball, trying to see what her prophecy would be.
The clear ball slowly turns misty, just like when he did the gazing with James. He could see the Great Hall forming, with its long tables now exchanged with seats filled with who seemed to be graduating students. He could see her, sitting among these students with her eyes glued to the podium where he was shaking Dumbledore’s hand. He could see himself, jogging back to the empty seat next to her with a big bright smile, pulling her close to his embrace once he reached her and sealing her lips with his.
The vision was short. Much shorter than the one he saw with James but the intensity was just the same. He could practically feel her lips on his, the pressure of her body as he pulled her close, and the sweet scent of her perfume that he has just now learned much lighter than a fine spring breeze. It was too real to ever just be a vision.
He looks up to her, noticing her lack of expression, “You don’t look disgusted.”
“Why would I be disgusted?”
“I kissed you,” Sirius says with an unsure tone “You saw that too, didn’t you? Or was that just me?”
She narrows her eyes, “What are you talking about?”
Sirius turns pale, gulping at the fact that he just blurted out what he saw.
He opens his mouth, only to close it again in the lack of words. His brain stopped functioning at the very time he needed to explain something to her. His blood turns cold, scared to death that he’s making it awkward between them but before he could actually pass out, she lets out a heartfelt laughter.
“Merlin, you’re so pale right now!” She says between her laughter “I’m only joking, Black. I know.”
He raised an eyebrow, “You know?”
“Yeah, I know.” She affirms with a nod, resting her hand under her chin as she watches him intently “This isn’t the first prophecy I have that involves you in it.”
“It wasn’t?”
“Nope. I had one too many about you, if I’m being honest.”
“Did you?”
“Yes,” She answers with a smile “Are you going to continue with your two worded question? I mean it’s cute, but certainly out of character from the typical Sirius Black.”
Sirius’ cheeks turn red, turning silent this time.
The glee from her face waters down fast, noticing the silence she’s caused between them. If he didn’t know better, Sirius would’ve sworn that he saw a glimmer of disappointment and heartbreak in her eyes, but why would she feel such feelings, right?
“I– Uh– I just remembered I have this thing to do,” She says abruptly as she she stood from her seat, evidently trying to flee from the situation and packing her belongings “I hope you’ll find your textbook, Sirius.”
And with that, she left.
—-
To say that he feels horrible from how their encounter ended would be an understatement. Something about her departure feels off, like he just did a grave mistake he wasn’t sure what about. The way her smile dilutes and the dimmed glint of spark in her eyes as she left haunts him.
He tries to recall the last moments before disaster strikes. He couldn’t look past the strangeness of how she called him cute one moment and bolted out the door the next. What went wrong?
“Someone’s pinching your bird,” James coos.
Sirius raised an eyebrow, “Meaning?”
“We just saw Lucius asking your girl for a Hogsmeade date.” Remus adds, taking a seat next to him “She didn’t say yes, though. Wait, did she or did she not? I’m not sure, we left before she could give an answer but I’m betting she said no.”
“I bet 5 galleons she said yes.”
“Wormtail!” Sirius says with a pure betrayed expression “I thought you were on my side!”
“I was, but you’re slacking mate.” Peter reasoned with a shrug “Whatever issue you think you have with her is certainly more important to you than the prophecy you’ve seen before your own eyes. I don’t know what else to tell you.”
“I’m with Wormy,” James nods “I bet she says yes to ugly snobby Lucius.”
Sirius lets out a gasp, completely surprised at his friends’ betrayal.
“You know what, maybe you’re right. Maybe she said yes.”
“Moony!”
Remus shrugs.
“She said no.” Sirius says with confidence, firmly “She said no, you wanna know why? Because she too saw her prophecies with me. Yeah, prophecies, meaning multiple times. Loads of times. She saw her future with me so she would not say yes to Lucius’ invite.”
The boys look at each other, confused and surprised at the new information dropped.
“I don’t know mate, it seems like she said yes.”
Sirius turns his sight to the direction James was pointing at. There they were, her and Lucius entering the Great Hall with what seems to be the most intriguing conversation ever. She was smiling, her cheeks red from all the laughter. Her eyes were glued on Lucius, as if no one else were present in the room, as if Sirius wasn’t in the room.
Jealousy was never in his dictionary but for the first time in his life, Sirius has never ever wanted to pluck someone and hex them to disintegrate until now. Exactly what can a guy as arrogant and grim as Lucius say to make her laugh like that? No one should deserve to see her bright smile and hear her melodious laughter. No one but him.
“Better work your way soon, Padfoot.” Remus comments “Or else your vision would turn into nothing more than a mere fantasy.”
—-
“Wait, wait!” Sirius shouts as he runs, trying to catch her before she vanishes again “Wait!”
She turns, looking surprised to see the boy with sweat laced skin coming to her. His hair was dishevelled, not that Sirius ever combed it neatly, but much more messy than the usual. He looks as if he’s run through every corner of the castle, trying to find her.
And in reality, he did.
“Black,” She calls, hands folding in front of her chest “Can I help you?”
“Yes,” He nods, catching his breath “Tell me you did not say yes to Lucius’ invite.”
She blinks, looking completely appalled at his request.
“My friends told me Lucius asked you for a date. Please tell me you said no to him.”
A frown forms on her face, “Why do you care what I said to him?”
“Well you’re my future, aren’t you? Of course I care about what you said to him.” Sirius reasoned “Now will you please release me from this torment and just say that you said no to him.”
She stares at him as if he’s grown an extra head. Sirius could feel his feet cold, shrinking down under her gaze. There’s nothing he wished he could do more than to read her mind right now. Something went wrong that day, Sirius knows it he can feel it, he just doesn’t know what it is and he fears that it would only be the gasoline to the supposedly budding romance between her and others.
“I don’t get you, Sirius.” She begins with a disappointed tone “First you act like you didn’t want me to be your future and yet now that someone asks me to be their date, you suddenly want me? How is that fair?”
“Wait, what?” He asked, appalled “When did I ever say I don’t want you to be my future?”
“You’ve been ignoring me ever since you saw that prophecy with James, whatever it may be about, and you went silent when I told you that I know about our prophecies.” She reasoned, her nostrils flaring from the vexation she could finally burst in “It's pretty clear to me that you don’t want me to be in your future.”
“You– You think I was avoiding you because I didn’t want you to be my future?”
“I don’t know, do you have any better explanation than that?”
“Yes,” He answers, only to shake his head the next minute “I mean, no, but–”
Sirius runs his hand through his hair, looking visibly frustrated at the misunderstanding they somehow got entangled in. He looks at her, who's still waiting for his explanation, and flashes her a sad smile. He was never good with words, not at crucial moments like this, but he knew that if he didn’t try tonight, he might as well say goodbye to the prophecies that have turned into the dreams he’s seeing every night in his sleep now.
“Do you even remember when we started to be so hostile to each other?” He asks gently.
She shakes her head, unsure on where the conversation is being directed to.
“I don’t either but I’ve always known why I could never be friendly with you.”
She gulps, asking with a voice barely above a whisper, “Why?”
“Because I don’t believe that someone as perfect as you exists in this world. I just can’t.” He confessed, a shameful smile shown on his face “I just couldn’t believe that someone as smart, as lovely, and as beautiful as you is real and I don’t think anyone is deserving of that. Even for someone as narcissistic as I am.”
“As you are?”
“Especially as I am.” He repeats “And I thought, if I couldn’t love you I should just hate you. Maybe that would water down the affection I have for you over the years and I have been doing just fine with denying my feelings for you until James stupidly made me gaze into that stupid crystal and I saw it. I saw us.”
Her facial expression softens, yielding to the sweet words he’s uttering, “What did you see?”
“I saw you walking down the aisle.”
She smiles.
“And I was there.” He continues “As the groom, if that wasn’t clear in the first place.”
A laughter broke from her lips, easing Sirius’ mind that he could finally diffuse the tension.
“You were beautiful in white.” He adds, eyes full of love and affection “And I can’t wait to finally be on that day so please, for the sake of my pathetic tottering heart, please tell me that you said no to Lucius.”
She begins to sniffle as the beads of tears that were decorating her tears started to fall. Her eyes were still glued on him, watching him as if he was the one thing she ever asked the universe to give and have finally been granted of it. Her shoulders were relaxed yet no matter how beautiful the sight he’s seeing right now, Sirius still couldn’t find peace until she gave him her assurance.
“Please tell me those are happy tears and not because you said yes to Lucius.”
“Oh, bloody hell, can we please stop talking about him? You’re ruining our moment!”
“Well I can’t really enjoy our moment with the possibility of you going on a date with someone else still hanging now, can I?!”
“Are we seriously arguing right now?”
“I don’t want to but it just feels so natural to argue with you.” Sirius huffs “So did you or did you not agree to his date, woman?”
“I did not.” She finally says, mirroring his exasperated expression “Happy now?”
“Very.”
“Doesn’t seem like it.”
“You are very annoying, do you know that?” Sirius asks, his brows still furrow in irritation.
“No, not really. Must have slipped off my mind, just like every other million times you utter it.” She says with her hands now resting on her hips “Is that all?”
Sirius raised an eyebrow, “How do you mean?”
“Well did you look for me just to ask if I said yes to Lucius? Or do you have something else you wanted to do with me other than confessing your, as you claim, pathetic tottering heart?”
Sirius opens his mouth, taking full offence at her mocking of his confession, but her question birthed a new urge in his heart. He’s confessed to her and she has accepted it, so it seems, would it be proper for him now to ask for a kiss? Would it be a proper time for him to ask for them to seal their future romantic endeavours?
His cheeks begin to turn rosy at the thought of finally kissing her. The emotions from the prophecies start to fill his chest, now feeling much less satisfying than how they used to. With her standing in front of him now and giving him the same heart eyes, the image of them kissing now could barely mean a thing as the possibility that such a pleasant gesture could happen any time soon. And he prays to whoever deity up there that it would happen sooner than later.
“So? Do you really just want to confess?” She asks, giving him hints now that she too wanted the delightful image to come to reality “Oh, for Merlin’s sake, Sirius, don’t tell me you’re getting cold feet now.”
“You just never know when to shut up, do you?”
With that, Sirius takes his bold steps to her, finally sealing their lips together. He could feel his soul bursting in flames, melting into one with her. He never knew that he was so deprived of such fortune until he finally tastes her, until he finally feels his body pressed into his, until he finally has her.
“Do you still think Divination’s rubbish now?”
“Still rubbish,” He answers between their kisses “Sweet rubbish.”

I know u like prongsfoot as a ship but can u write prongsfoot as a bromance ficlet... Where sirius comforts james? No ooc characters but no need to tell you that
Thanks for the ask @medasavagepotter! 💙 Sorry it took me a while to get it done. Turns out writing James and Sirius as only friends was harder than my Prongsfoot-infused brain expected. I didn't mean for the story to get so sad, but here we are. I hope you get some comfort from this, despite the hurt.
James & Sirius. Gen. Hurt/comfort, angst, implied character death(s) (but no main characters die), implied Jily. Read here or on AO3.
__
Regardless (I love you)
It started with a soup.
James found it on his nightstand when he returned to the boys' dormitory from Quidditch practice. He was knackered and soaked to the bone from the storm raging outside.
He stared at the bowl, blinking. The aroma of rich, savoury chicken soup flooded his nose, the stasis charm keeping it warm. It made him salivate and his stomach grumble.
"Sirius?" He turned to face his best friend who was lounging on his bed with a book about ancient runes in his hands.
Sirius raised his gaze to James. "Yes?"
"Did you get this soup for me?"
Sirius turned his focus back to his reading. "Obviously. Moony's still tired from the end of his monthly cycle –"
"Oi!" Remus grunted sleepily from his bed beneath three covers, the full moon having just been two nights ago.
"– and Wormy was planning to ask Macdonald out for the whole evening, but he chickened out at the last minute."
"Easy for you to say, Prince Charming," Peter muttered from his own bed. "I'll do it tomorrow."
"Sure." Sirius smirked. "So, that leaves me."
James waited for Sirius to explain why he'd done something so nice for him but did not get an explanation. He sat down on his own bed; there was no point in questioning it, really. He was starving after the practice, which had taken longer than expected and caused him to miss dinner.
"Thanks, mate. I appreciate it."
Sirius turned a page, a faint, softer smile hiding in the corner of his mouth.
"No problem."
__
The small, unexpected acts of kindness followed, and James could not point out why they happened. Every time he faced something that annoyed or made him uncomfortable, or was even somewhat inconvenient, Sirius made it better.
He never made a big deal about it, and James could have easily dismissed it as a lucky coincidence that Sirius was so quick to block certain Slytherins' hexes for him automatically in the corridors, or happened to know James would need more broom wax right when his old one had run out and ordered it for him beforehand, or let James have a nap in most History of Magic classes and took notes for him (whereas they normally took turns in this), or insisted on paying for both of their butterbeers at Hogsmeade. (And when James found extra packages of his favourite liquorice and fudge in his trunk later, he knew who was behind it.)
James thanked Sirius each time and went on as if nothing had happened, because that was how Sirius preferred it.
But of course, James noticed. Truth be told, it filled him with fondness like no other for Sirius, but it also made him suspicious.
Sirius had left Grimmauld Place for good in the summer and moved in with James's family. He assumed Sirius felt compelled to pay their kindness back by showering James with extra attention and gifts, knowing how much he valued those things.
It was truly unnecessary, of course, because no matter what happened between them, even if they got into a big row (which was unlikely, but still), neither James nor his parents would ever send Sirius away.
"You know, Pads, it's okay. I can do and buy things for myself. I don't expect you to fulfil my every wish," James said when he found a spell book about 19th century experimental transfiguration in his school bag one morning, which actually made him thrilled, and he couldn't wait to read it.
"I know. I just thought, since I could, why not?" Sirius sat on his bed, pulling socks onto his feet.
"And I'm grateful for it. But it's okay if you don't."
Sirius shrugged and tucked a loose strand of silky black hair behind his ear. The grey eyes were fixed on his hands, and he began picking at his nails. "Sure, whatever you want."
"How about I let you know when I need you to go a little overboard for me?" James suggested, sitting next to him on the bed and bumping his shoulder with his own. "For each birthday and Christmas, I expect the full Sirius Black attention service."
Sirius nodded, a hint of a smile on his lips. "Okay."
__
Four birthdays and Christmases later, school was but a distant memory. The house he grew up in was empty, nothing but memories left behind in all its nooks and corners.
James leaned against the kitchen counter, his chest heavy. He'd been putting off the visit for three months since the joint funeral. He needed to sort things out, make decisions he couldn't make. What was the point when the two people who had loved him so unconditionally were gone?
He'd never felt more alone in the world as he did then. He took a shaky breath, one, two, three, four, and let it out.
It didn't help.
He'd told Lily he'd be fine. She was pregnant, she should rest; he could deal with this.
He'd lied. She'd known.
James took another shaky breath, and the burning sensation in his eyes turned into tears, blurring his vision.
He didn't know how long he sat on the floor, the silence around him heavy, when it was broken by the wards alerting him of an arriving guest. This was followed by a knock on the front door.
James stood up stiffly, his feet tingling from the blood returning to them. He opened the door and was met with a tall, familiar figure.
"Hi, Prongs," Sirius said, taking in James's demeanour. "Lils said you'd be here. I thought I should come by and help you with the packing."
James managed a nod and moved away from the entrance, allowing Sirius to enter.
"How are you doing?" Sirius said as they reached the kitchen, where everything still stood in its place.
"I'm fine," James said, the words falling naturally off his lips, untrue.
Sirius sighed, and James realised he was carrying a white plastic bag with him.
Sirius took out two containers from the bag and placed them on the table. "I brought soup."
The smell of delicious, savoury aromas filled the air, reminding James that it had been hours since he had eaten.
He let Sirius fish out spoons for them from the cabinet drawer, knowing his way around the kitchen as well as James did.
"Cheers, mate."
"S'alright. My treat." Sirius sat across from him, and they ate quietly, the creamy chicken soup warming up James like a cosy blanket.
"I thought you were busy with the Order today."
"I'm right where I'm needed."
James looked up from his soup to meet Sirius's searching gaze. "I think you might be right."
Sirius quirked his brow. "I'm always right."
Unexpectedly, James's lips turned upwards just for a moment. It was the first smile he'd had in a long while. "A lot of the time," he agreed.
"Most of the time." Sirius grinned, twirling the spoon in his hand.
"Whatever, Pads. Just eat your soup."
Somehow, the silence that followed was a little bit easier.

knight of heart here. how bad is it
(@woomy-wormy also requested Knight of Heart!)
uu: THE HEART ASPECT IS BEST uTILIZED WHEN YOu CAN DESTROY IT.
uu: DEFENDING IT. WILL MAKE YOu WEAK. uNLESS YOu CAN MANAGE TO DEFEND. THE RIGHT KIND OF FEELINGS. SuCH AS A MANLY SENSE OF PRIDE.
uu: OTHERWISE YOu END UP LIKE THAT WEIRD SPRITE FUSION. OF THE CATGIRL TROLL AND THE ALPHA MALE BIRD SPRITE. AND YOu DO THINGS LIKE HOLD HANDS. AND KISS. AND OTHER PERVERTED BEHAVIORS.
uu: YOu HAVE THE POWER TO STOP PEOPLE FROM BEING DISuADED FROM YOuR CAuSE. THIS IS uSEFuL. YOu HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE A LEADER. IF YOu AREN’T SOFT.
uu: YOu DEFEND SOuLS AS WELL. THIS ALSO MAKES IT SO THAT YOuR FRIENDS. WILL WAKE uP MORE QuICKLY. OR YOu WILL BE ABLE TO SLOW THEIR DEATHS OR SAVE THEIR LIVES.
uu: THE WORST PART OF BEING A KNIGHT. IS THAT THE GAME TRIES TO MAKE YOu A SuPPORT. INSTEAD OF THE PROTAGONIST. YOu CAN SOLVE THIS BY DEFENDING YOuR OWN HONOR AND SuPPORT. AND SuBTLY MANIPuLATING SOuLS AND TIMELINES. AND TAKING OVER IN THAT WAY.
uu: MOST KNIGHTS CAN ALSO PROJECT A SHIELD WHEN THEY ARE GOD TIER. THIS IS LAME COMPARED TO THE PRINCE OF HEART ATTACK. YOuR DEFENSES CAN ALSO BE SuBVERTED. BY A MANIPuLATOR CLASS.
uu: I AM SuRE MY SISTER WOuLD LET YOu JOIN HER RANKS. I REQUIRE BETTER FIRE POWER.
tumut
***
UU: knights are the passive defender class. a knight of heart defends others. this makes them natUral sUpport. it makes sense; the knight is there to defend the space player in the average sbUrb session.
UU: a knight of heart fights with their feelings. this means shield projection with anger or fear or love. it is a wonderfUl power, and a lovely expression of yoUr feelings for yoUr friends.
UU: this also becomes a passive power. combat tends to be easier with a clear head. yoU may gain an exception to this, gaining more endurance and power as yoU grow more incensed! i wish i had sUch power...
UU: other theorists have proposed two ideas: that the knight defends what the session lacks, and that the knight is afraid of their aspect.
UU: yoU woUld have to ask dave if he is afraid of time, bUt the beta session certainly lacked time! three days to a scratch…i do wish i had access to records of gaming for all sessions, instead of jUst these few. they probably performed some sort of speedrUn!
UU: dave is a good example of a knight. even my brother likes him, and for good reason! a knight is sUpposed to be brave and sUpportive, especially with the heart aspect.
UU: a heartless session might lack emotion, feel cold and dull, and have players who accomplish goals bUt oUt of obligation instead of passion.
UU: perhaps yoU might play the role of a therapist, like rose tries to be!
UU: this is not to say that karkat and latUla were not good knights. perhaps i will talk aboUt them another time!

Prim and Proper Problems Ch 9
When the Maestros couldn't get the two girls to talk again, they went to help the humans try and find this "Misère Au Bonheur". However, like the school, she also had little to none information, however, Cal and Fortie managed to find not only her, but her house and address. "We'll go and talk to her, if she really does know the location of the school, we can go there." Mei said. "Alright, We'll try and get the girls back to normal." Sana said.
The kids nodded before they headed out to find the address but not before giving Wormsworth a sympathetic pat on her sickle hand "Don't worry Wormy, we'll find a way to fix them." Emma said. The bug like Negaboss gave a saddened chirp like growl as they went out of the theater. When they found the matching address, They found that it was a large, not well taken care of manison on the outskirts of town. The kids almost mistook it for a haunted house because of how it looked.
"Um...Are you sure this is the right address?" Cass asked. Leo put on a brave face "Only one way to find out..." He said, before slowly making his way to the door, and giving it a loud knock. "Hello? Is anyone there? We're looking for someone named Misère Au Bonheur." He said. A old, but paranoid female voice spoke from the other side "GO AWAY!! NOBODY IS HOME!!" The voice said.
"But you are Misère Au Bonheur aren't you?" Haoyu asked "Why? Did PRIM send you? She can't take me back now! Not now! I'm as old as her now!" The voice said. "Um No. See our friends went to that school, and now they despise the stuff they love, and we need to change them back, but we can't find the school, or at least a way to fix them." Mei explained. There was a long silence, as if no one knew what to say next, until from the other side, a sigh was heard "C'mon, Get in here and I'll tell you all that I know. But ONE mention of how I'm improper, and I'm chasing you out with an ax!" She said.
The sounds of locks unlocking and chains being undone was heard, until the door slowly creaked open, and a old woman, that had a paranoid look was seen in the doorway, stepping aside to let them in. The inside of the Mansion was...not entirely what they expected. There were many papers taped to the walls, and connected with string. Most of them say things like "What is she hiding?" and "Is it drugs? Brainwashing? A cult?"
The old woman brought them to a small table laid out with information "Alright. What do you want to know?" She asked "We need to know the location of the school. Or at least how to undo what happened to our friends." Trisha Jane said. Misère sighed "The second request I can't help you with...As it almost happened to me." She said. The kids looked curious "WHAT happened?" Cass asked.
Misère got up from her seat and looked out a nearby window "It was a long time ago...I was only 8 when it happened..."
(FLASHBACK...)
"My parents had sent me to PPP in a effort to make me a respectable child for society. But I never passed one class."
A young girl was seen struggling against two older woman, tears leaking from her eyes "You failed every class I put you in. You resist being the picture of elegance. You bring shame upon your entire family. Is there ANYTHING that you can do RIGHT?!" A younger Madame Prim scolded.
She took a deep breath however, seemingly calming down "No matter. Soon you'll be a perfect child, and every flaw in you will disappear in an instant." She said with a sinister smile. The young girl looked terrified as she was carried down a long hallway, a ominous glow seen from the end of it "P-Please! Let me go!" She whimpered, tears leaking from her eyes.
"Whatever Prim was doing, she was about to do it to me...and after seeing the girls in the gilded prison. I had to get out of there."
The little girl snapped out of it before she had an idea. In a blur, she bit down on one of the women's hands, causing her to shriek out in pain and let her go. The little girl stomped down on Madame Prim's foot, making her scream out in pain. She then ran back through the hall, not stopping or looking back "DON'T JUST STAND THERE!! STOP HER!!" She heard Prim shriek.
Blaring alarms and red light flooded her senses, but she couldn't stop now. The sounds of pounding boots followed her as she looked for any means of escape. Her eyes finally saw a thinly cracked window at the end of the hall. Picking up a rock like scone that she had, she threw it at the window, shattering it to bits. She jumped out the window and fled into the garden, hiding in a willow tree. "Search the Perimeter! She couldn't have gotten far!" She heard a guard say.
"The guards never managed to find me, and I made my way out of the school. My parents never found me, and I found this old mansion and lived in it ever since."
The little girl walked through a long road, until she eventually reached Timeville, and the large manison that had seen better days. Seeing a broken window, she carefully climbed in and made herself at home.
"Even if Prim's guards kept coming and going. They never looked in here. And they never found me...But I knew that Prim was DOING something to the girls, but I never knew what..."
(BACK IN THE PRESENT)
The kids looked shocked at what Misère had to go through. This didn't give them the answer of what happened to the girls, but it did give them a clue to what Madame Prim was hiding. "And is she still looking for you?" Rebecca asked. Misère's eyes narrowed. "Yes. She NEVER stopped looking. She saw my escape as her greatest failure...and she intends to undo that failure by any means necessary." She spat.
The Children looked worried "But...times have changed. Why would anyone need to send their kids to a place that destroys anything unique?" Emma asked. The older woman's eyes grew hard "Yes. Times HAVE changed. Nobody cares about that kind of stuff anymore. So Prim decides to MAKE kids look bad in order to get them sent to the school." She said. "Like what happened with Yuri and Kaylo! I knew they didn't steal anything!" Leo said.
Misère grew curious "Kaylo? As in Kaylo Bruno? The Bruno with a Golden Voice?" She asked. The kids were confused, how did she know about Kaylo? "Um...yes?" They said unsure. "Her mom helped me. She led the guards away from the mansion when one spotted me in a window." She said "She also Brought me food, and a few blankets from time go time. I can't believe that Prim changed her." She grumbled, her voice getting angry.
She however calmed down, before giving the kids what looked like a map "Take this. It's a map to the school." She said "Um...thanks Miss Misère...but, aren't you going with us?" Haoyu asked. The woman shook her head "I go there I might as well become a senile old maid. However, maybe you can finish what I started. You can succeed where I failed. Find what Prim does to the girls. And Bring that PRISON to the ground." She said.
The kids nodded before gazing at the map. They thanked Misère before they left the house to tell the others the good news...but they never noticed someone spying on them. They spoke into a walkie talkie "Madame? It's me. After all these years, I found the imperfect."
"Very Good. I'll send backup. Bring that ungrateful brat back so we can perfect them..."

Being an Ally
TW: Homophobia, Internal Homophobia and Toxic Masculinity.
Pre-Wolfstar Story. None of my boys had figured out their sexualities yet. Worse their feelings for each other.
***************************
Sirius had never crossed more than two words with Edgar Bones. They’ve been sharing classes for the last 5 years. They were in the same house. And they kind of knew each other. But that was all. Edgar was Frank’s best friend. And Sirius had The Marauders.
Edgar was one of the few open gay kids at school, and surely the most eccentric one for the way he dressed and expressed himself. Sirius respected all that but it was impossible for Sirius and Edgar to have something in common. Besides, it was pretty obvious that Edgar felt something for Sirius. Sirius always caught Edgar staring at him, or smiling at him. And Sirius felt uncomfortable about it. He fancied girls. And only girls.
So when Professor Slughorn paired Sirius with Edgar for the work in class, Sirius wasn’t happy about it. Especially if James and Remus were together.
“But Remus is my lab partner” Sirius pouted.
“At least you don’t have to work with Avery” Peter sighed.
“It is just for an assignment,” Remus smiled.
“But don’t be surprised when we become best friends and forget about you afterwards” James grinned “Besides…” he put his arm around Remus’ shoulder “Remus is not only yours. He is my friend too. And I believe we haven’t done homework together…”
“We have…”
“But not alone” James winked.
Sirius rolled his eyes. James blew Remus a kiss and Remus responded by raising his eyebrows.
“But we won’t forget about Sirius, right?” Remus added with a grin.
“Who 's Sirius?”
“I don’t know, I forgot”
“Very funny!” Sirius protested.
Peter chuckled, clapping his hands.
“Bye, losers”
“Bye, Wormy love!” James exclaimed, now hugging Remus “My other best friend! Because I only have two. Remus and Peter…”
Sirius smiled “Prongs…”
“We don’t know who you are, good sir” James shook his head “Remus, my very good and best friend…”
Sirius snorted.
“Do you know who he is?”
“No, bestie” Remus shrugged.
“You are so handsome” James added.
“Thanks, you too” Remus winked.
“Assholes” Sirius said as he walked to sit with Edgar. Sirius could hear them giggling.
“Hello handsome”
When Edgar said it and smiled like that, it wasn't funny like when James did it. It was real. James only did it as a joke. Edgar meant flirting. And it made Sirius uncomfortable.
“Hey” Sirius answered. He realized he sounded cold, so he gave Edgar a soft smile.
“So we are gonna be labpartners…”
Edgar leaned in, placing his elbow on the table and looking at Sirius with hungry eyes.
Sirius moved away carefully.
“Yeah I guess”
“So… How do you want to do this?”
“What?” Sirius swallowed.
Edgar smiled “The assignment”
“Oh yeah” Sirius chuckled “Do you prefer to mix the solution or write the observations?”
“Write” Edgar answered, biting his lip “I don’t like getting my hands dirty”
“Right”
Sirius extended his hand to grab the vessel but Edgar did it at the same time to grab his notebook. When they brushed hands, Sirius immediately pulled away, almost dropping everything.
“Relax…” Edgar said amused “You’re not becoming homosexual by touching my hand”
Edgar said it as a joke, but he sounded hurt. As if he had to repeat those things all the time. Sirius was speechless, he really froze. But luckily, their teacher interrupted.
“Ehem…” Mr. Slughorn cleared his throat “Excuse me, gentlemen…”
“We are working” Edgar spat.
“What is it that you are wearing, Mr. Bones?” Slughorn pointed to his head.
Edgar was wearing a headband. It was black with white pearls all over it. Sirius didn’t say anything because he was used to seeing Edgar wearing feminine things.
“Oh this?” Edgar asked “It’s an original Prada. It was a gift from my sister”
Sirius heard some of his classmates giggling and whispering things.
“The rules specify not to wear accessories that are not part of the uniform” Slughorn said “Please take it off”
“What? Why?” Edgar protested “All the girls wear things on their hair”
“That’s right, Mr. Bones. GIRLS” he emphasized the last word “Those are headbands made only for the FEMININE uniform. And girls are only allowed to use those, not Pranda, or whatever bullshit”
The giggles amongst the class were getting stronger.
“Prada” Edgar corrected.
“What a pretty girl!” someone shouted, and there were whistles and cheers.
“At least I am pretty! Have you seen your faces?”
“Just take it off, Mr. Bones”
Edgar groaned
“He is not doing anything wrong!” Frank protested from behind the class.
“Don’t make yourself the hero, Mr. Longbottom” Slughron added.
“He is just defending his boyfriend” Mulciber teased, as the rest of the class laughed “Tell me Longbottom… After being with two girls, you decide to play for the other team?”
Mulciber’s friends laughed, there were even some whistles around. Everyone knew about the dilemma. How Frank had been snogging Mary behind Alice’s back.
“See what you provoked, Macdonald?” Mulciber added lower.
Sirius saw Mary rolling her eyes, but nothing else.
“Shut up, Mulciber!” Frank groaned.
“Silence! Please!” Slughorn yelled over the noise. Then he turned to Edgar “Mr. Bones…”
Edgar took the headband off reluctantly.
“Very well, thank you” Slughorn grinned “We’ll talk later about your nails in private, Mr. Bones”
Sirius then noted they were green.
“Keep working in silence, please”
When Slughorn turned, Edgar showed him his middle finger.
“What a tosser” Edgar whispered.
Sirius turned to see Mulciber whispering something to his friend Avery. Then they both giggled. He wasn’t the only one curious, because Peter who was next to Avery was trying to hear as well. Then Mulciber noticed Sirius. He grinned as he looked between Sirius and Edgar, and then he made kissing gestures.
Sirius rolled his eyes as he turned back. He hated the embarrassment he was feeling.
“Are we gonna start working, or…” Edgar said. He sounded annoyed.
“Yeah”
The faster they were over with it, the better.
They worked in silence for the rest of the hour. During the whole time, Sirius wanted to ask Edgar if he was okay. He looked so blue, not cheerful as always. But he didn’t dare. Mainly because he didn’t want Edgar to get the wrong impression. Or Edgar to want to kiss him or something,
The class was dismissed as the students handed Slughron the paperwork.
“Pleasure working with you, handsome” Edgar said sarcastically as he put his headband back on.
“Was that your sister’s?” Sirius asked nervously, he didn’t want to leave things like that.
“When she was at Hogwarts there was this rich wanker that was obsessed with her and always gave her expensive gifts” Edgar smiled “She hated him but why waste the gifts?”
Sirius smiled back “Was that headband one of them?”
“I’m not a Black, love. I cannot afford a Prada”
That made Sirius chuckle.
“Watch it, Black” Mulciber sneered from behind “If you smile too much, Bones might want to snog you”
“What’s your problem?” Edgar snapped.
“Piss off, Mulciber” Sirius added.
“Nah… Black is not one of those” Avery said.”All birds are into him”
“Who knows? He might actually be, what is it called?… in the closet…”
Sirius got so furious that he stood up and grabbed Mulcbier by his shirt.
“What happened, Mulciber? Are you jealous I get more birds than you?” Sirius spat “Dead before being a faggot. Do you understand?”
“Crystal clear” Mulciber grinned.
“Have you heard the term repressed homosexual?” Edgar raised from his chair “You might want to check it out. I think all of you apply”
He ended by giving Sirius a nasty look. Then Edgar ran away as quickly as possible. Frank ran away behind him. Shit. Sirius felt immediately guilty.
“What is going on here?”
Sirius saw James, Peter and Remus behind Mulciber and Avery.
“Nothing” Mulciber pushed Sirius’ hands away “Everything has been clarified” then he winked.
He took one last glance at Sirius and left, Avery giggling behind him.
Sirius snorted “He is such a wanker”
“Yeah, so do you”
It was Remus who spoke. Remus. He looked disappointed. Like a father after catching his child doing something wrong.
“What?”
“Okay…” James hissed “Why don’t we go to lunch because I am starving? Yeah, lads?”
But Remus and Sirius ignored him, they were still looking between each other.
“Pretty great what you said” Remus tutted “You made Eddy feel like a piece of shit”
Eddy? Why was Remus calling him that?
“It wasn’t me, Remus” Sirius snapped “It was them”
“Well you gladly joined them!”
“Guys…” James intervened.
“They were saying things about me! I was defending myself!”
“I did hear them saying stuff about you” Peter added carefully “Something about pretty boys not being masculine enough…”
Sirius got even more furious. Those bastards “See?”
“Does it offend you that people call you gay?”
“Yes because I am not one of those!” Sirius yelled “I fancy girls!”
“You are not one of, who, again? What did you call them?”
Sirius shrugged. Maybe that was the word Orion used. But Sirius had been angry.
“I was simply defending myself!”
Remus shook his head, really disappointed.
“Eddy didn’t deserve it” he said “Especially after what Slughorn made him do”
Sirius frowned. He didn’t get why Remus was defending Edgar, “Eddy”. Since when were they friends? Sirius was more important for Remus. They were closer. They were really close.
“He is the one who is all over me all the time! Doesn’t he understand that I am not interested? I do not like blokes. I don’t like him!”
“Okay, guys” James sighed “Can we stop?...Sirius, that word is offensive”
“Mulciber said it!”
“Mulciber is a dick!”
“Yeah my point exactly!”
Remus sighed “I am leaving…” he started walking away.
“Remus!” Sirius protested
“I …. I …cannot be with you right now” Remus added “So I am just gonna go”
Remus walked through the door, leaving Sirius speechless.
“Woops…” Peter said.
“Sirius….” James exclaimed “Seems like you offended lots of people now”
Sirius didn’t answer. He felt miserable.
“It is offensive to call gay people that word…” Peter began “And you are also acting like a selfish dick…”
Sirius looked at him, and Peter smiled. But Sirius wasn’t in the mood of fighting.  It actually had been Uncle Alphard who told Sirius that word was offensive when he used it for the first time at eleven. Sirius kind of knew that. He didn’t hate gay people. He just didn’t want people to think he was one.
“We know you are not gay, Pads” James hissed “But Edgar is”
“And he is always going through hell in this bloody school” Peter added.
“Edgar is cool” James shrugged “Isn’t he?”
“And what Slughorn did was so dickish. He is a bigot”
“Slughorn is a homophobic asshole” James added “He got stuck in the last century”
Sirius was thinking about his family. He was thinking about his father and what he thought about gay people. Sirius remembered all the things Orion said about real men. Always tough, masculine, having girls at their feet, drinking whiskey, smoking cigars and liking sports.
And then Edgar went against all of that. Edgar was more feminine than masculine. He wore makeup and jewelry. He painted his nails. He loved fashion and hated sports. He was delicate. His voice was high-pitched. He spoke and acted like a girl sometimes.
“You are right” Sirius sighed “I was a dick”
Sirius might not be like Edgar. But he surely didn’t want to be like Orion. Or Mulciber. Sirius had been an idiot.
“I know what we can do to help Edgar” Sirius said “And to fuck with Slughorn”
Sirius looked at his friends and smiled.
“Are you ready for another mischief, boys?”
James grinned and Peter snorted.
“That’s my best friend” James kissed his head.
But first, Sirius had to apologize and get Remus back. Sirius needed him. He needed him for this.
**************************
Sirius found Remus smoking in the Common Room, next to the window. Their smoking spot. Remus also had a book on his lap. Typical of Remus. Sirius smiled at that sight.
Sirius approached and without saying a word, showed Remus a big chocolate bar.
“From a best friend to another”
Remus’ mouth twisted wanting to smile, but he contained himself.
“Bribing me with chocolate” he tutted “It is not the way to get things, you know?”
Sirius made a pout and pushed the chocolate bar closer.
“You’re lucky it works with me” Remus said as he grabbed the bar.
Sirius smiled relieved. But Remus still looked kind of pissed.
“Where have you been all day?”
“With Eddy, Frank and Kingsley” Remus shrugged.
“I didn’t know you like them”
“I am allowed to have other friends!” Remus snapped “Or am I only exclusive for The Marauders?”
“I am sorry. I was a dick” Sirius said as he took a seat in front of Remus. He took the cigarette between Remus’ fingers and took a drag. Remus opened the chocolate wrapper.
“Yeah”
“The Blacks raised me with a bad concept… Of gays…” Sirius explained without looking at Remus “You know what everyone thinks… How being gay is something bad, or funny, or filthy….”
“That’s called homophobia…” Remus explained, chewing his chocolate and grabbing the cig from Sirius’ hand.
“I know” Sirius said, embarrassed.
“I know how your family is” Remus said as he took a drag “But you can be better”
“I am better!” Sirius snapped quickly “I am not homophobic! I just don’t want people thinking I am…”
“Into blokes?”
“Yeah…” Sirius answered but now it all sounded ridiculous in his brain.
“Would it be so bad?” Remus asked.
“What?”
“That they think that about you” Remus said “Especially people like Mulciber…” he shook his head “Why do you care so much about what he thinks?”
Sometimes Remus had this look that made Sirius feel bad about himself. It wasn’t in an angry scolding way, like his parents. It wasn’t in a “I would love you no matter how you fuck up” kind of way, like James. Remus didn’t hate or preach Sirius. Remus just knew him. Remus just saw the real him. And everytime Remus was disappointed by something Sirius did, Sirius immediately wanted to be better. Sirius felt vulnerable and ashamed. Nobody made him feel that way.
“It is not a bad thing to be gay, so why would you be embarrassed if people thought that?”
“I just… I just don’t want people to believe untrue rumors about me” Stupid answer. Sirius was still an idiot.
“You might not be…gay” Remus sighed “But that doesn’t mean you have to shame people that are. And especially those who are proud of it”
Sirius didn’t answer. He was playing with his Gryffindor wrist band.
“You know how many people out there get brutalized, shamed, locked up or even killed for being who they are?” Remus continued “It’s all they want. To be who they are”
Sirius felt a knot on his throat.
“Just be braver, Sirius”
Remus was so much better than him. Sirius might be a Black or whatever. But he was nothing compared to the amazing human being that Remus was. Sirius was embarrassed that he had disappointed him.
“How do you know so much about this?” Sirius whispered instead. Because he was even a coward to apologize.
But Remus wasn’t angry. He was speaking carefully. Like maybe a caring father would do with his child.
“Because I am trans” Remus chuckled “And because my best friend is gay”
“Edgar?” Sirius raised an eyebrow.
“Grant” Remus smiled.
Sirius looked down “I am your best friend” he whispered.
Sirius hadn't met him but he was jealous of Grant. Because Grant had been there for Remus when he most needed someone. Because Remus admired him and talked about him all the time, as if he was some great warrior or something. And Grant was braver. He surely was that asshole that didn’t care what others thought, that didn’t have his last name and Family History like a burden on his shoulders. That wanker.
“I'd rather die being happily queer than being someone I am not, sweetheart!” Remus said with a different accent. Then he chuckled “That’s what he always says….” he smiled “And he goes to LGBTQ parades and stuff. He says he is taking me to one but…”
“I am helping Edgar”
Sirius had to interrupt. If he heard one more word about Grant, he was going to go mental. Sirius hated that bastard. And he hated that Remus totally preferred him.
Remus looked at him and raised an eyebrow. He turned off the cig.
“Yeah?” he asked, taking a bite of his chocolate.
“The lads and I are planning something” Sirius smiled “We are gonna be supporters of the LBD…”
“LGBT…” Remus giggled “And it is called being an Ally”
“Whatever” Sirius smiled “But I need your help…” he pouted and pulled Remus’ sweater.
Remus was smiling when he rolled his eyes.
“Pleaseee… Mooony!” Sirius begged “Stop being angry with me and heeelp meee! You’re gonna lovee the ideaaa!”
Remus was still smiling.
“Finee!” he said in the same tone “This better be good!”
Sirius cheered and gave Remus a long kiss on the cheek. Remus giggled.
“But I am only doing it for Eddy”
“Eddy, Grant…” Sirius rolled his eyes “I am your best friend!”
“But…”
“Say it!”
Remus smiled “You are my best friend, Sirius”
Sirius smiled back.
“You’re my best friend too”
************************************************
Sirius got help from the other Gryffindor boys: Frank, Kingsley and Tobey. They needed the support from all boys in their class. Of course, except Mulciber and his mates. Worse even, Snape.
But there were plenty of boys that didn’t dare to do what they had to do, or they didn’t like Edgar, or they simply didn’t care. It was frustrating that in that school, with a gay Headmaster and all, mostly everyone was pretty homophobic. That made Sirius angry, but more with himself because he partially had been that way.
It was the next Chemistry class that Sirius and The Marauders did what they had planned. The group of boys walked into class wearing a female accessory: headband, earrings, hats, necklaces, scarfs. All of it courtesy of the girls that were helping them. They were using as follows:
Remus: Pink French Beanie.
Sirius: Blue flowered bandana
James: Red Head Bow
Peter: Headband with flowers.
Frank: Thick Purple Headband
Kingsley: Glam glowy choker
Tobey: Big heart earrings
“Woow!” Mary exclaimed with a smile “You all look great!”
“What the fuck is this?” Edgar snorted.
It was also the girl’s job to distract Edgar until the boys arrived.
“Nothing” James shrugged “We all just wanted to look great today”
“We just followed your lead, Eddy” Frank added.
Edgar’s eyes flickered towards Sirius for a second.
“Bullshit” he spat, crossing his arms “But I have no idea if I am loving this or hating this”
“You should love it” Lily intervened “The boys are helping you”
“I am surely loving this” Marlene chuckled.
“Same” Hestia added.
Sirius sighed and took a step to the front. He took a glance at Remus before speaking. Remus’ smile gave him the courage to do so.
“Listen, Edgar… Ed.. Eddy…” Sirius sighed “It is not fair that you cannot be yourself, even in class….” then he spoke to the group “We are lucky the uniform is cool but… We are all different! We have different personalities and ways of dressing…” then he looked at Edgar “And that’s okay…”
Edgar’s mouth twisted.
“We should all be allowed to wear our uniform as we want even if we want to use accessories with it!”
“Yeah!” The rest of the group cheered and clapped.
“Fuck the school rules and fuck gender norms!” Sirius added.
“Yeah!” the others cheered again.
“Besides, I look pretty great right now” Sirius said, winking
The others laughed. But one laugh was higher than the rest. Mulciber. He had arrived with the rest of the class, mainly the Slytherins. Mulciber looked between them amused.
“Look! We have new classmates” a Slytherin named Walker said.
“Pretty ugly girls, that is” Avery said as some of his mates laughed.
“What is this ridiculousness?” It was Snape who asked
“It’s called good style, Snivy” James said “You wouldn’t know that because you don’t even wash your hair”
Sirius laughed because that wanker deserved it.
“Asshole…” Snape said, getting closer to probably hurt James. But Mulciber stopped him.
“Uuuuh kiss me, Severus!” James joked
“Fucking pussy…” Snape whispered.
Snape’s eyes flickered towards Lily for a second, She looked guilty, as if she felt pity for him. But she decided not to say anything.
“What is going on here?”
Professor Slughorn had arrived and he looked furious and disgusted watching at the boys wearing female accessories.
Nobody answered. Now Mulciber and the Slytherins were pleased, waiting for the rest to be punished.
Slughorn’s eyes fixed on Edgar.
“Do you find this funny, Mr. Bones?”
Edgar didn’t answer.
“Do you see Edgar wearing any type of accessory?” Sirius asked.
Edgar wasn’t wearing anything actually. No jewelry, no eyeliner, cleaned nails, nothing in his hair. Only the uniform. Actually wearing the tie in the correct way. Sirius decided it didn’t suit him. He didn’t look comfortable.
“Well…” Slughorn started.
“It is us who are wearing stuff, not Edgar” James added “So if you want to punish us, go ahead” he shrugged
“We have our right to wear what we want” Frank added “We are not hurting anyone”
“You’re hurting my eyes” Walker snapped.
“Do we make you nervous?” James winked.
The two groups started discussing and fighting between them. Sirius was very aware of Edgar’s expression now. He looked overwhelmed but also more relaxed. Maybe he was happy that his friends were doing this for him.
When he winked at Sirius, Sirius smiled at him.
And also Sirius was paying attention to Remus. Remus was happy as well. He looked like a proud father. Also, Remus looked so cute in that beanie. And Sirius was pleased that Remus looked happy. He had made Sirius be braver and stop acting like an idiot. Sirius wanted to beat the wanker of Grant, and be better for Remus’ eyes.
When Remus smiled at him, Sirius felt his chest warmer.
“That’s enough!” Slughron shouted “Everyone get inside! And end up this ridiculous situation” he added  “Before there are consequences”
“No” Sirius shook his head “We are not ending anything until we are given the right to use anything we want”
Sirius’ friends cheered and clapped, agreeing with him. Mr. Slughorn stared at him with hate. But Sirius simply crossed his arms. It happened with Orion and Walburga as well, he wasn’t scared of those glances, he actually challenged them more.
“Alright, Mr. Black” Slughorn nodded “If that’s the way it is, I will call Dumbledore then… See what he decides to do with you”
Albus Dumbledore was one of the coolest people Sirius knew. But he was also very authoritarian with some school rules. They didn’t know how he would react.
“Snape…” Slughorn added and Snivellus took a step forward “Make sure nobody leaves until I am back. And if they disobey you, I am allowing you to give them detention”
“Yes, sir”
This was the reason nobody liked Snivellus. He was the teacher’s pet. Maybe Lily liked him once, but she was realizing the dick he actually was.
When Slughron walked away, Snape spoke.
“You heard the professor, everyone inside”
“Fucking dick” James whispered, as the others murmured protests but got inside.
“What did you say, Potter?” Snape scooped closer, challenging James “Remember I am in charge”
“Nothing wannabe teacher” James answered, also in a challenging way. But he didn’t get inside. Sirius didn’t dare to move as well.
Snape’s eyes flickered towards Remus.
“Lupin… Pink actually suits you” he snapped “I wonder why”
When Remus looked down embarrassed, Sirius got immediately furious.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” he snapped, willing to hurt Snape.
But Remus stopped him.
“Let’s just go inside”
Remus was pulling Sirius inside. But he didn’t want to leave. He wanted to punch Snape in the face.
“Why don’t you get inside with your boyfriend, Black?”
Sirius was capable of killing that motherfucker.
“Sirius…” Remus insisted.
“Let’s go, Pads” James pushed him as well.
Sirius got inside reluctantly. But this wasn’t over.
****************************************
By the time Slughron returned with Dumbledore and Mcgonagall, the class had been divided. To the left, everyone that supported Edgar and agreed with the movement of free expression. To the right, those who thought they were being ridiculous, basically the homophobic wankers. And Snape had already given detention to some people from the left side, one of them being Remus. Only for whispering an insult he deserved. That stupid wanker.
“You have to do something, Albus!” Slughorn said as he finished explaining the situation to Dumbledore “They don’t let me carry on with my class”
“I see” Dumbledore nodded.
“And Minerva” Slughon continued “I called you because most of the rebels are from your house…” he snorted “Clearly my slytherins are better behaved”
“And freaking cowards” Minerva whispered.
“What?”
“Nothing”
Sirius smiled. Minnie was strict sometimes, but she was cool. Sometimes like a mother to them.
“So, left side…” Dumbledore spoke, pointing at them “What’s your petition?”
Sirius felt it was his duty to speak. It had been his idea after all.
“Mr. Dumbledore…” he began “We don’t think it is fair that we are told how to dress or express ourselves. There’s nothing wrong with complementing our uniforms with accessories we like…”
Dumbledore nodded.
“And if there are boys like Edgar that like feminine things, there is nothing wrong with that” Frank added.
“Also, Mr. Dumbledore” It was Marlene who spoke “Sometimes Professor Slughorn discriminates scholarshipped or gay kids, while preferring those from rich families”
“Miss Mckinnon!”
Slughorn wasn’t the only one surprised with Marlene’s words. Apparently she was the only one brave enough to say the truth everyone had been thinking for the last 5 years of having class with Slughorn.
“Professor Slughron is a good teacher” Snape said “He simply obeys the rules of this institution”
“Oh shut up, Snivellus!” James rolled his eyes. He wasn’t the only one, even some Slytherins rolled their eyes as well.
“Please, Mr. James” Dumbledore raised his hand, and James was silent.
Everyone stared at Dumbledore, waiting for an answer.
“Hogwarts was founded 158 years ago” Dumbledore began, he was speaking as if he was telling a fairytale to some kids “The rules were written by the founders and they’ve been followed ever since…”
Sirius sighed. So Dumbledore was another asshole who was sticking to the bloody school rules.
“And I cannot believe we haven’t changed them yet…” Dumbledore added.
Sirius and his friends smiled.
“Sorry, Albus?” Slughorn asked.
“The world had changed, Horace” Dumbledore explained “Fortunately many minorities had been accepted and been acknowledged to have rights. women, black people, queer people… I think we need to modernize the rules from this school, don’t you think?”
Slughron was speechless. In his face.
“Don’t you think so, Minerva?”
Minerva shrugged “Surely” she said “As long as they keep maintaining order and discipline in the school”
Slughron snorted, indignated.
“Unfortunately students…” Dumbledore added “I don’t have the power to change the school rules just like that…”
“Why not?” Sirius asked.
Dumbledore smiled.
“That’s a decision I have to discuss with the School Committee. The owners of this institution are not the founders anymore but the shareholders, that includes your family Mr. Sirius”.
Yeah, The Black Family owned plenty of Hogwarts shares. That made them partially owners of the school, as well as other rich families. If it was the Blacks decision, they would never change a single rule. They were very conservative and old fashioned. Plus, Cornelius Fudge the president of the Hogwarts Committee was a corruptive dickhead. Friend of the family of course.
Sirius must’ve made a disappointed and sad expression, because Dumbledore added:
“I promise I will insist the subject in every meeting until I am listened to” he said “There have to be members that agree with me”
There was a minute of silence. They didn’t win. The world was still so fucking unfair.
“In the meantime, you are allowed to wear whatever you wish around the castle and Hogwarts grounds as long as it is not class hours” Dumbledore smiled.
But nobody was happy.
“So… should I punish my students, Albus?” Minerva asked.
Great, on top of that they were getting punished.
“I don’t see why, Minerva” Dumbledore said “They were claiming a fair thing, weren’t they?”
“Okay” Minerva shrugged.
When Dumbledore winked, Sirius smiled. He was cool after all.
“Let’s go, Minerva. Horace, you are free to continue the class. I believe the students will not make more protests” Dumbledore continued “Whatever complain you have , the doors of my office are open”
He started walking but then he stopped.
“And Horace, I believe you will not discriminate against any student for their social status or sexual orientation, won’t you?” Dumbledore said “Because you are an excellent teacher, vital to this school, and a personal friend of mine…”
Sirius rolled his eyes. That wanker deserved to be fired.
“But if I receive any complaints about it, I will not hesitate to take measures. Not matter how professional you are”
Slughron got nervous. But it seemed like he wanted to punch someone as well.
“You know me, Albus” he said “I am not capable of such thing”
Liar!
Dumbledore smiled “Thought so” he said “Good day, everyone”
“Good day, Mr. Dumbledore” the class chanted.
As long as Dumbledore and Minerva left, Slurghorn got furious.
“Happy, everyone?” he snapped. Nobody answered “Please, take those ridiculous accessories off…”
Sirius was furious. All of it for nothing.
“And take a seat and open your textbooks…”
The class obeyed reluctantly.
“And Miss Mckinnon” Slughron added “I hope you don’t get a wrong idea of me in the future. All I do is comply with my job and follow the rules. I haven’t discriminated anyone as you said”
“I hope you don’t give me reasons to believe that in the future…” Marlene answered “Sir..” she added.
Slughron clenched his teeth.
“Take a seat, Miss Mckinnon”
Marlene took a seat. Sirius smiled and winked at Marlene. She was such a badass. He really admired her. Marlene smiled back. Which was odd because she was always bothering him, but it felt nice.
*****************************
“Hey Sirius”
Edgar approached him after the class was done. Sirius decided he would not get uncomfortable even if Edgar looked and smiled at him in a certain way. It was just his personality.
“Frank told me it was all your idea” Edgar raised an eyebrow.
Sirius shrugged “I was a dick to you. So I wanted to apologize”
Edgar smiled.
“I don’t want to have prejudice anymore” Sirius said “And I want to support gays”
“Oh Black” Edgar sighed “You’re not only beautiful but you are also a really good person…”
Sirius snorted.
“Even Though you make my heart race and I want to push against the wall and snog you…”
Sirius’ eyes widened. So Edgar did fancy him.
“I am not gonna flirt with you because I know you’re not gay and we would never happen” Edgar added.
But then Sirius chuckled.
“We can be friends”
Edgar smiled “Maybe… Although it would be hard because we have nothing in common”
Sirius shrugged.
“We can try”
“Whatever girl that ends up with you is gonna be so lucky, Black”
Sirius swallowed. He blushed for the compliment.
“So as the boy who ends up with you”
Edgar smiled. Then he kissed his cheek.
“Ok, gorgeous” he said “See ya later”
And he left.
Sirius saw Mulciber and Avery sneering as they walked by but he didn’t care anymore. Assholes.
But he did care about Remus.
“Hey Moony!” he grabbed his arm, forcing him to stay behind, as the rest of their friends walked out of the class.
“I am proud of you, Sirius” Remus smiled “What you did was amazing, I always knew you had it in you…See? the white sheep of the Black Family”
Sirius chuckled.
“Told you! I am different. I am an Ali..”
Remus chuckled “Ally” he corrected the pronunciation.
“Whatever”
Remus giggled.
“I wanted to thank you” Sirius added.
“Why?”
“I wouldn't have done any of this if you hadn't made me realize I was doing wrong” Sirius explained.
Remus shrugged.
“It was nothing”
“No, It was everything” Sirius said, Then he hesitated to say the next part “Remus…I am so happy to have you in my life again…” he looked down embarrassed “You are such a good friend and you make me better…” then he looked at Remus and swallowed “Please, let’s never stop being friends again. I don’t know what I would do without you”
Remus was overwhelmed by his words.
“I am always gonna be there for you, Sirius” he said “Always”
Remus gave Sirius a tiny smile and he walked away.
Sirius also figured whatever girl that ended up with Remus would be the luckiest girl in the world.

Remus Lupin x femReader(mate)
There was one time a year that fully matured werewolves went into heat, and that was several weeks before the first full moon of the year. Yes, it also affected males and quite badly, too…
Remus Lupin POV
It was coming up, and hella quick. It was only my first heat and I had barely any idea what the hell was supposed to happen. The guaranteed date was almost here but so far I hadn’t really noticed anything so far. According to books, normal werewolves had to be caged by now. I was proud of myself. I was almost unaffected. Of course though, there’s that ‘almost’ in there. There was one girl. Y/N L/N. A sweet Gryffindor girl with excellent grades, a lovely personality and gorgeous eyes. Of course, though, those weren’t quite the things that tortured me.
It was her smell. Merlin, it was like nothing else. It was a smell that made me think thoughts that made my ears turn red. It’s common knowledge that werewolves senses are heightened during times of stress (full moon, heat cycle etc.) It was so strange. She practically reeked of pheromones and it drove me nuts. Some things made it worse, too. When she let down her hair or undid the top button on her shirt and rolled up her sleeves on a hot day.
James was the first to notice the effect the girl had on me. It was hard to miss, when you looked. When she walked by a certain way or a draft blew her scent directly in my face I flushed bright red and I’d clench my hands so hard my knuckles turned white.
The Marauders hung around particularly close to me in the classes we shared with Y/N. I think they were watching to make sure I didn’t lose control and do something stupid. While my little posse wasn’t exactly ahead of their class on intellectual abilities they’d done their on research on my condition and they were not ignorant to how dangerous I could be.
Sirius, of course, thought that I should just shag her and get over it. Normally, yeah, maybe that could work. But werewolves were different. When it came to mating we developed. . . . Possessive tendencies. That would mean I’d be overbearing and clingy. Then she’d think I was just a weirdo. And then I’d probably have to tell her about my little condition and then she’d be terrified of me and want nothing to do with me. I wouldn’t blame her either but it’d still hurt. Especially since I’d fancied her for a while now. She was pretty, smart and sweet. What wasn’t to love? But I couldn’t inflict myself and all of my problems on her.
So, my fingers aching with effort as I squeezed them into fists, I watched her. James was rambling about the quidditch match he had against Hufflepuff on that particular afternoon. I wasn’t listening. I was gazing down the Gryffindor table at Y/N who was eating her breakfast and chattering along with her friends. I watched her smile and put her spoon into her mouth, listening to her friends. I watched the way her soft plump lips wrapped around the—
“MOONY!” James sounded quite offended I hadn’t been following along.
“Hmm?” I looked back at him.
“Well, well, look who’s finally joined us on this fine morning.” Sirius chuckled, shoving a spoonful of porridge into his mouth. “Bloody hell, would you look at the time? We’ll be late for potions if we don’t hurry up!” Peter was always sort of panicked.
“Ahhh, relax Wormy. Stay and eat for a bit more.” James chastised, but Peter was already hurriedly scrambling towards the doors. I wasn’t surprised to find myself close behind him. Not because I was scared of any teacher like Wormtail but because the sooner I got to class the sooner I could be close to her.
But of course there was one downside. We had potions with Slytherin and, ugh, Godric, not only was she partners with Snape, they were sort of friends too. Y/N sometimes even made him smile. The greasy git was supposed to fancy Evans. I didn’t understand why he couldn’t just stick with that and stay the bloody hell away from Y/N.
But as more and more people flooded in, I didn’t see her or Snape. James strolled in casually and plopped down next to us.
“See Wormtail? Perfectly on time.” I rolled my eyes at his smugness.
“And whoever were you searching for, Remus? Your lover, Severus Snape?” He said with a swoon. He knew just how on my nerves that greaseball had been as of late.
“Alright now settle down. Today we will be— Miss L/N! Care to explain where you’ve been?” I whipped my head around to see a very out of breath Y/N.
“Sorry, Professor Slughorn. Severus got very ill and I had to take him to the infirmary.”
“All right, Miss L/N. You are excused. Thank you for taking him.”
She nodded and took her seat to the back left of us.
“Where was my group of three? Ah yes, James, Peter and Remus. Do one of you mind filling in for Mr. Snape?”
Without a second thought, i shot up from my seat. Everyone turned to look at me.
“Um, I’ll do it.” I muttered.
“Thank you, Mr. Lupin.”
I awkwardly stumbled over to her table and basically fell into my seat.
‘Real smooth’ James mouthed in my direction.
Her scent caused a shiver to rip through me. I thought that maybe being closer to her would somewhat satiate my need for her but it only did the opposite. It only made me want more. Ugh. She also had Snape’s smell on her, as if she’d been holding him up when she walked him to the infirmary. I didn’t like that. But as Slughorn gave us his lecture on Amortentia (how sickly ironic) I couldn’t help but watch her from the side.
Y/N was mesmerizing. When she focused her eyebrows furrowed together and formed two little parallel lines. When she wrote her quill scrambled to keep up with Slughorn’s words and when she wasn’t writing notes she would draw careless little doodles on the corner of her parchment. I was watching her so intently out of the corner of my eye, that when she licked her lips to moisten them a white hot flash of longing shot into my lower abdomen and then I winced and decided it best to focus on my work.
“Alright, now look over each others notes and do it well because tomorrow you will be attempting to brew this very potion with your partner.” “Alright.” Y/N said, turning her body to face me. “What’ve you got?”
I showed her my mostly blank parchment with a sheepish grin. To my surprise, she laughed.
“Well, I suppose that’s alright. Here.” She touched her wand to her notes, and then mine, the letters seeming to bleed out from where her wand touched the paper. In no time at all, I had a perfect duplication of her notes.
“Thank you.”
“No problem at all. Just make sure you study those. I don’t think Severus will be back yet tomorrow.” Y/N said ruefully.
“Ahh.” What on earth could be so bad Madam Pomfrey couldn’t fix in a day?
“Alright.” Slug horn declared. “Class dismissed.”
Just as she collected her books and got up to leave I acted out on instinct and caught her wrist before she could slip away. She looked at me curiously, her already huge eyes wide.
“Er,” I tried to think of an excuse quickly. “I was actually wondering if maybe. . . . you would sit with my friends and I at lunch today?”
“Oh,” she blinked. “Oh, okay.”
I sighed a relieved sigh, let go of her and smiled. “Ok, so I’ll see you there?”
“Sure,” she grinned back at me.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN: The Effects of Amortentia
James' POV:
"Ya, we kissed goodnight when I walked her back to her common room." Peter says as he tells us about his study date with Greta last night.
"On the lips?" Remus asks.
Peter nods with a smile, "Way to go, mate!" Sirius high fives him.
"Wormy, you're getting more action then me, now!" I laugh.
"Stop being so love sick over Evans and you'd be getting more then any of us!" He chuckles.
"Ya, ya." I roll my eyes with a smile.
"Oh and look, here comes Ms future Potter now!" Sirius says, nodding his head towards the girls walking into the great hall to join us for breakfast.
"Morning boys." Marlene says as she takes a seat next to Sirius.
"Morning, Lils." I smile at her as she slides into the seat next to me.
"Mmm." She groans as she reaches for the coffee pot to pour herself a mug.
"Someone's a bit grumpy this morning because she thought it would be smart to not go to bed until 3am." Hestia laughs.
"Well we've got potions in half an hour so hopefully that will cheer her up, ay Lily?" I say.
She looks at me with a glare, "Stop talking to me until this mug is empty."
"Ok." I laugh.
I look up so I can join into the conversation that Remus and Alice are having on the other side of me and catch a glimpse of Sirius staring at Remus as he talks. He is leaning his face on his hand and looking directly as Remus' lips as they move, reminding me of what he always calls me out for doing with Lily. He breaks his own trance and turns, catching me watch him. I raise my eyebrows slightly and smile before going back to the scrambled eggs on my plate.
About 15 minutes later, Lily, Marlene, Remus and I make our way to potions together. When we arrive we see that the table at the front of the room has a potion in the middle of it, I recognize the potion immediately as Amortentia by its mother-of-pearl sheen and the steamy spirals in the air above it.
"Hello class," Professor Slughorn says once everyone is seated. "Today, we are going to be learning the characteristics and dangers of this very potion I have here, as well as learn how to make it. Can anyone tell me what this potion is?" He asks.
"That's Amortentia, sir. The most powerful love potion in the world." Lily answers.
Slughorn smiles proudly, "Correct, Ms. Evans. 10 points to Gryffindor. Can you tell the class how to recognize this potion?"
"Well it has a very distinctive pearly sheen to it, as well as the spirals that accumulate above it in the steam." Lily answers.
"Correct. This information will be on the final exam, so please take note of it." Slughorn announces. "This potion also has a very unique characteristic of smelling different to every one whom smells it. That smell represents what one finds attractive. For example, if the person you love has a certain scent, the potion will smell the same. Would anyone like to come up and take a whiff and possibly share with the class?"
Almost everyone raises their hand and Slughorn chooses a few people to come up, myself, Lily, and Remus included.
I walk up and smell the potion, smells like Lily, no surprise.
"What do you smell, Mr Potter?"
"Um, strawberries, cinnamon, and coffee." I answer, glancing at Remus who give me a knowing smile.
I go back to my desk as Lily bends down slightly to smell it. She thinks for a moment, trying to figure out what it is that she's smelling, and then her eyes widen and she goes a bit red before quickly walking back to sit next in front of me, next to Marlene.
What did she smell, I wonder.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Lily's POV:
James.
No.
No.
NO!
I did not just smell James bloody Potter in that Amortentia. There's no way.
"Are you ok?" Marlene whispers as Slughorn goes on with his lesson.
I look at her, probably looking quite distressed, "No. I need to talk to you after class. With Alice and Hestia too though."
She nods, looking concerned, "Of course, Lils."
I somehow make it through the rest of the class without crying. What is wrong with me?
"You guys want to hangout with us in the head commons for a bit?" James asks.
"No thanks." I say, before leaving the room.
Marlene jogs up to me, "Lily, what's going on?"
"Just get Alice and Hestia and come to my room, ok?" I respond.
She nods and turns around to go find them and I basically run to my room so that James and Remus don't catch up to me.
When I get to my room I sit on my bed and put my face in my hands. I can't decide how I feel about these feelings. I can't think about James right now because it makes me feel giddy and sick at the same time.
There's a knock on my door, "Who is it?" I ask.
"It's us." Hestia responds.
"Come in," they walk in, all looking worried. "Are the guys down there? Close the door."
"Are you ok, Lily?" Alice asks as they all take a seat on my bed with me.
"No." I shake my head.
"What's wrong?" Marlene asks.
"Please don't laugh or say I told you so or anything, ok?" I say, specifically talking to Marlene because, despite how much she cares about me, I know how badly she'll want to say that.
"Of course." Hestia replies.
I look down at my hand and feel my face heat up, "I think- I know-" I pause, not wanting to say it. "I fancy James. Like a lot."
There's a pause before anyone responds, probably trying to figure out something other then "No shit." or "You just realized that?" to say.
"Oh." Marlene finally responds.
"Ya.." I look at her and see the slight smile on her face.
"Did you smell him in the Amortentia?" She asks, realizing the cause for my mood throughout class.
"Ya. Smelt like leather from his Quidditch uniform mixed with sweat and that stupid honey shampoo he uses." I reply.
"Well, why are you upset that you like him?" Alice asked with a sweet smile.
"Because then he wins." I answer honestly.
"Wins?" Hestia says, confused.
"Yes," I insist. "All these years, it always been, 'Hey Evans, I know you like me, go out with me.' and 'Shove off, Potter, you're a prick and I will never ever go out with you'. Me liking him means he won."
Marlene laughs, "I think it's time to stop being so stubborn and put that behind you, Lils."
"Ya. Plus, I don't think that was ever a game to him. He's crazy about you." Alice adds.
I roll me eyes, "Ok I get that but, I don't know. I guess, I'm scared."
"Of what?" Hestia asks.
"I've never really liked anyone this much before. I mean, I know I've gone out with quite a few people but it's never been serious. I don't know how to act." I admit.
"Act like yourself, Lily." Alice smiles.
"How are you feeling though? I mean, do you want to actually go out with him? Like as boyfriend and girlfriend." Marlene asks. "Cause you two are already so cute together, I think I'd explode if you were dating."
I laugh, "I don't know. I think so. I guess I've always just thought the constant smirking and hair touching was annoying... but now I kind of want to kiss the smirk off his face and run my hand through his hair for him." I smile.
I look up and all three of them are smiling so big at me.
"Well what are you going to do? Are you gonna ask him out?" Hestia asks.
"Not right now. I need a bit more time to come to terms with the fact that I like James Potter." I cringe as I say the last part, causing the girls to laugh.
"Wanna join them downstairs? Test out how chill you can act in front of him now and give us some entertainment." Marlene smiles.
I roll my eyes, "Sure."
We walk downstairs and of course, the girls take every other available seat, forcing me to sit on the couch next to James. I glare in their directions before sitting down.
"I didn't even know you guys were up there." James laughs.
"Ya we were just talking." Hestia replies.
James turns to me "I was just telling the guys about the Celestial ball we're planning, Lils."
"Oh ya. I told the girls this morning." I reply, trying to act normal so I don't cause any 'entertainment'.
"I'm so excited!" Alice says, cheerfully.
"Well, of course you are. You have a boyfriend so you have a built in date. Who am I supposed to go with?" Marlene laughs.
"Hey, I'll go with you, Mar." Sirius responds.
She smiles, "Sweet, thanks."
"We could all just go as a friend group. I don't think dates are required, are they?" Remus laughs, looking at James.
"Actually they are." James smile and turns to me. "And Lily's gonna be mine."
"I never said that." I laugh, blushing a bit.
"I know. But come on, we have to be together the whole time anyways to direct people and make sure everything is going ok. Might as well be my date so you get the added bonus of my charming flirting and great dance moves." He smiles.
I roll my eyes, "You'd flirt with me whether it was a date or not."
"Exactly, so at least help me look a little less sad." He smiles, tilting his head.
"Fine." I say, watches his face light up, with a slightly shocked expression and a smile. "But just as friends."
"Deal!" He smiles.
I laugh and roll my eyes before looking over at Marlene who wiggles her eyebrows at me. James leans back on the couch and puts his arm around my shoulder casually while still continuing his conversation with Remus and Peter about who they can bring.
I jump slightly at the unexpected contact and look down at my hands, fidgeting with the ends of my hair because I don't know how else to react right now.
It feels like it's been 10 minutes since he put his arm over me causing me to freak out slightly, when in reality it's only been about 2.
"I'm gonna go for a shower." I say, quickly standing up and walking through the bathroom door next to our desks across the room.
I just know all of the girls feel very entertained right now, I sigh.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
James' POV:
I, of course wish it lasted longer but I didn't even think I'd be able to have my arm around her for more then 5 seconds before she pulled away and glared at me. So that couple of minutes was pretty great.
After talking for about 20 more minutes, I pull out my potions homework and don't even finish reading the instructions before I'm thoroughly confused. Definitely gonna need Lily's help on this one. I turn to look at the bathroom door and can still hear the shower running.
"What's taking her so long?" I ask.
"She's probably not even in the shower anymore." Hestia says.
"But the water is still running." I point out.
"Ya but normally Lily leaves the shower running after getting dressed so that she can more easily wet her hair while putting her hair products in." Marlene says. "She normally takes pretty fast showers and spends majority of the time in there doing her hair."
"Really?" I ask.
"Ya. I bet if you went in there right now, she'd literally just be doing her hair." Marlene replies.
"Ok." I say as I stand up and make my way over with the potions assignment in my hand. I knock once and then open the door just as Lily is stepping out of the shower...
…Completely naked.
She's screams and I quickly close the door and stare in the other direction with my hand over my mouth and my homework on the floor somewhere. Someone gasps from the sitting area.
"WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU, POTTER!?" Lily yells from the bathroom.
I can't even answer. I just continue standing there, eyes wide, with the thought of what I just saw.
Sirius looks at me, "Breath, Prongs." He smirks.
I let out the breath I didn't know I was holding at look at him.
"You good?" Peter laughs.
I shake my head and slowly lower my hand a smile forms on my face.
Remus laughs and shakes his head. Lily opens the door and says a spell I didn't hear to knock me off my feet. I look up at her and plead, "I'm so so sorry, Lily. I swear I though you were out."
"The water was still on!" She yells, still pointing her wand at me while I lay on the ground in front of her.
"I know but Marlene said you were probably just doing your hair." I reply quickly.
She turns her head and glares at Marlene, "I'm sorry! You normally take short showers and I know you keep the shower on while putting your hair products in!" She says, putting her hands in the air.
I can't help but to look down her body while she's facing away. She's still in just a towel and I'd do anything to see more of what I just accidently saw.
She looks back at me and catches me looking at her body, "That's it!" She yells. "I'm obliviating you!"
"Lily, no!" Alice yells. "That's a very hard and dangerous spell if you don't do it right."
"Well if I don't then he's gonna be..." She waves her wand in frustration as she talks, "thinking about it."
"I understand that, Lily but Alice is right." Remus says. "Plus, just because he's never seen the real thing before doesn't mean he's never... thought about it."
I glare at him before looking back at Lily who is a bit red in the face. Either because she's so angry or because she's blushing at me thinking about her. Possibly both.
She lowers her wand slowly, "Fine. I won't obliviate you." I sigh in relief. "But if you ever bring this up, I will hex your damn head off!" She threatens.
"Ok!" I reply and stand up. "Sorry, again."
"Its fine, I guess." She huffs. She turn and goes back into the bathroom.
"I would apologize but I don't think I really need to." Marlene laughs.
I shake my head with a smile, "Ya definitely don't need to apologize."
"You gonna come sit down?" Peter smiles with raised eyebrows.
I press my lips together with a grin, "Nah."
"And why not?" Hestia laughs.
"I uh- just gotta go get something from upstairs." I smile, innocently before turning on my heels and running upstairs, hearing everyone laugh behind me.

Carp Poem
Those bottom feeding carp that I would see on my walk to school in the spring always cheered me up. I always dreaded going to class. School for me was just a way for me to embarrass myself in front of others. That's all it was. But those carp had no such complication. They ate from the rivers mud and bred. Better than going to school. They knew the meaning of life...with their gross little mustaches and scaly design. They wouldn't be going into math class. They wouldn't stand for the pledge. They sure as hell weren't distracted by Erica Dowd's large breasts. They had it easy while I had it rough.
The worms hid, deep from the carp
praying their odd little wormy plea's of justice and a long life
( if I was a carp I'd pray for a mermaid to rescue me from the muddy depths and make love to me on a slimy, green rock )
some worms would make it safely through life and never become poo
other were not so lucky
who chooses that? who says: "this one shall live?" "this one shall die"
Walking over that dilapidated bridge I would view this action knowing full well that today would be a gym day and I would make a fool of myself trying to swing a baseball bat in front of the girls
the fish look up to me and wave their itty-bitty fins at me as if to say:
you're on your own, chump
and I was
like the worm
hiding deeply from fear

Hiiiiii could I request a Marauders x reader… platonic. Where they are just coaxing her through a bad day/migraine?
Hii! there isn't that much comforting other then them being clingy and sorta protective, but I still hope you like!!
The Marauders When You Have A Migraine
Word count; 1.8k
[ Warning: fem reader, doodles, eating, migraines/description of headaches, swearing, Sirius refers to you as “their baby” ]
Quick note, there’s a scene where the boys draw on the reader with a marker. I didn’t specify what colour the marker was, so depending on your skin colour you can interrupt the colour as you wish.
You slumped at the Gryffindor dining table, hair matted in a low messy hairstyle. You didn't even try and brush it out, you woke up and left it how it was. You couldn't even bring yourself to dress in new fresh clothing, you wore what you slept in.
Eyeing the breakfast options, you felt a pain tingle through your head. The nerves bunching and squeezing together to make it unbearable to concentrate.
" [ name ]! We have class in 15 minutes and you're not even dressed!" James bellowed from across the table, you pushed your shoes against the floor and slumped. Remus gave a confused look, his eyes narrowing as he glanced between Peter and Sirius.
"Come on, we have time to get some food in 'ya," Sirius declared, pushing toast onto your plate. The curly raven haired male even buttered your toast just the way you liked, even filling your glass with fresh squeezed orange juice.
"How 'ya feel-in?" Peter pronounced through mouthfuls of food, James swatting the blonds head in retaliation. "Wormy, don't speak with your mouth full,"
Sirius cackled from beside you, Peter stomped his foot onto Sirius in response. Sirius made a dramatic scene, falling towards the cold stone floor as he held his foot with forced shaky breaths. "My foot! My foot! I've been assaulted!" He whined, rolling from side to side.
Remus lets out a loud sigh from beside you, your head buzzing from the noise of ongoing chatter. You could hear James laugh loudly, like he always does. Usually his laugh was contagious, but it was incredibly annoying at the moment. Along with snickers and loud whines, you gripped your cup and brought it to your lips. Peter swallowed, reaching for another pancake as he watched you take long sips.
" ya never answered my question," Peter rambled before taking a gracious bite. You shrugged, Sirius sliding back into his seat. The boys all looked towards you, your fork picking at the blueberries Sirius pushed onto your plate moments prior.
"Another headache?" James asked, cleaning his pants from crumbs as he pushed his finished plate aside. You nodded briefly, a plain expression adorned on your features. Another hot buzz dangled in your mind, your forehead throbbing along with it.
"Maybe we should take you to madam Pomfry, you shouldn't be getting them this often," Remus responded. Sirius made a pouting face, before he took you into his arms.
"Our baby is hurt!" Sirius exaggerated loudly, causing staring eyes to look towards the group of friends. You flushed a bit, embarrassed by Sirius nature. You pushed him away, going back to picking at your food.
"I ain't nobody's baby," you said while pushing Sirius further away, James and Peter sniggered as Sirius made puppy dog eyes. You rolled your eyes, a bit grumpy from the constant throbbing.
"Bloody hell, it fucking hurts. It's not even bad, it's just the constant throbbing is pissing me off," you complained, shoving the piece of toast in your mouth. You watched as students finished eating, occasionally leaving for their first class of the day.
The boys all exchanged looks, Remus placing a hand on your back to give it a gentle rub. You push your plate back, your arms coming on the table as you rest in them.
As more students leave, professor Mcgonagall makes her way over to your rambunctious group. She softens at the scene, seeing the four boys rub your shoulder or arms to try and give their sympathy.
You sigh as you hear her shoes click with the ground, professor Mcgonagall stands a few inches away from you all. She clears her throat, all eyes directing towards her except for you.
"Class is about to start... is there a problem with miss [ last name ]?" The older woman asked, trying to mask her worry. Remus had explained earlier to her that you had been having numerous migraines.
"She's having another headache Minnie, our baby is dying!" Sirius exclaimed, Remus reaching over to swat him away from you with an annoyed look plastered on his face. Even though you couldn't see Sirius, you laughed as you thought about his whining face.
Professor Mcgonagall clasped her tongue, about to tell off Sirius for the nickname he'd given her. But instead, she placed her attention on you.
"I'll take her to the infirmary, surely madam Pomfrey has a potion to help," she explained, the boys all standing together in the same motion. You still kept your head pressed into your forehead.
"Can we go with her?" James whispered, hoping that they could be with you. They all hated when you were in pain, it felt like they had to protect you. You were their bestfriend, they surely couldn't let a thing ever bug you unless it was them.
"I'm sorry Potter, but you have class," Professor McGonagall frowned, the boys were about to protest to stay with you. But Minnie quickly shut them down, her hand raising as all the boys shut their jaws closed.
"It's alright, I'll see you later," you told them, raising with a throb as you walked with them all towards the doors. You parted way painfully, Sirius almost crying as he clung onto your leg. The rest of the boys watched, even James tearing up. He took his round spectacles off, dabbing his eyes with a spare cloth he had in his pocket.
"You can't be serious," you retorted at them, an annoyed look on your face as Minnie checked her watch with frowned eyes.
"Well... technically," Sirius began, but he couldn't finish his sentence as you kicked him off of you. You were upset, tired, and in pain. As much as you loved them, they were too much sometimes.
"Just go, I'll see you later," you tried to cover up your annoyed state, but the boys picked up on it. Sirius straightened up, fixing his shirt as they left with their heads down casted towards the ground.
"Idiots they are," you told Professor McGonagall, she only laughed and led you towards the infirmary.
—-
After a few missed classes, it was finally lunch. All the boys scrambled to the dining hall, shoving foods on plates. They ignored the stares, jogging up to the infirmary where you slept.
With the creak of the door, Sirius and James peaked inside. They saw no one, only a lump on the farthest bed. They all skipped over to you with slow whispers, trying to make sure you won’t wake up. Sirius pushed the blanket of your face, all of them relieved to see you still asleep.
“Prongs, do you have a spare marker on you?” Sirius asked, a growing smirk on his face. James put down the plate on a nearby table, fishing through his pockets to try and find a marker.
“Pads, no,” Remus said sternly, knowing what the raven haired male would do. Peter looked between the three boys, a bit unsure of what Sirius was going to do. The blonde boy put his plate near James, picking up half a sandwich as he sat near your feet.
“Pads yes,” Sirius smiled widely, James passing him the thick inked marker. Remus rolled his eyes, not stopping Sirius from his antics. Sirius crawled on the bed, an evil smile on his features as he unclasped the marker. He wrote “baby” with big thick letters on your forehead, giggling when you twitched and tried to swat his hand away in your sleeping state.
“Give me the marker,” James whispers, not waiting for Sirius to pass him it as he snatched it for himself. The bispecticle male drew 4 happy stick figures and a rat on your cheek, his tongue poked out in concentration.
“Why am I the only one in my amingi form?” Peter asked, frowning as James passed him the marker. He began to draw a small smiley face in your open palm, writing a messy “Peter was here” on your arm.
“Because, there wasn’t enough room and plus, you’re cuter in rat form,” James teased, but his words sounded very sweet so Peter took it as a compliment. Sirius and Remus cackled loudly, making you stir awake. Your eyes fluttered open, looking around between the boys above you.
“Uh… hello?” You greeted, stretching slightly as you looked around the empty room. Sirius pushed Peter and James away from the bed, sprawling his limbs out to hog you from their affection.
“Hi!” They all chanted at once, Remus moving closer as he pushed at Sirius to make room. The tall male sat down, rummaging through his bag for a minute before pulling out a chocolate bar.
“Eat,” Remus said, even opening the wrapper for you. He broke off a piece, swatting Sirius's wandering hand when he tried to take a piece for himself. You sat up on the bed, unaware of the markings on your skin. You chewed the gooey chocolate, resting against the bed frame with a satisfied hum.
“Did you bring me food?” You asked, a smile on your face as you realized all the plates. The boys nodded, bringing the plates over for you all to feast upon.
“What’s so funny?” You asked when Sirius started to laugh, James also chuckling. You irked slightly, touching over your face to try and see if there were crumbs. This made the boys laugh harder, making you feel embarrassed as you choke out a “what? Is there something on my face?”
You notice the little doodle Peter left you, realizing what had happened. You pushed Sirius's head, making him bump into James. You laughed at the scene, both boys rubbing their forehead with a pouty face.
“Does it come off?” You asked Remus, a sigh on your lips as you ran off towards the bathroom.
“Nope,” he called out, a small smile on his face. You looked in the mirror, seeing the obvious doodles drawn by your boys. You knew exactly who the culprit was for the big letters written on your forehead.
“Sirius! What the hell is this?” You called, stomping back to the bed where they all sat. Sirius raises his hands, pointing to James and Peter. “It’s not just me! They did it as well!”
“You bitch,” James gasped, a hand on his heart as he held a dramatic glint in his eyes. Peter dropped his head, muttering his apologies. All the boys start to bicker at Sirius, calling him a tattletale. You smile and lean back against the bed, bringing a biscuit to your mouth as you watch the quarrel unfold, this was definitely the entertainment you needed on this shitty day.

What’s Happening To Me? — OneShot
Plot: James Potter was starting to feel more and more overprotective towards his friend Y/N and considerably annoyed at the blatant flirting she and one of his best friends were displaying publicly and at the thought she might be falling for Sirius. What was happening to him?
Pairing: James Potter x Fem!Reader.
Word Count: 5,9K.
A/N: I just had revised this long-ass story entirely and was pretty proud at the summary i came up with just for Tumblr to mess up with my post and erase its entire content, only leaving the title behind. Now i can’t remember the previous summary i wrote and am pissed about it. Anyways, I love writing for James and it shows. I won’t revise this again because i really am annoyed at tumblr so apologies in advance for any mistakes! :)
Tumblr media
James tried to concentrate on Slughorn’s voice as the professor went on and on about whatever potion they were going to start working on during next week. He was really doing his best to absorb his words, but an extremely flirty pair beside him was making this task nearly impossible. He knew this was just for show since Sirius wanted to make Marlene jealous and Y/N kindly agreed to help him out, but all of this was still bothering him for some reason. Maybe it was because he knew Sirius way too well to know for sure he was enjoying this situation a little too much. Maybe it was because he cared about Y/N enough to bother if Sirius was going to end up hurting her somehow. He couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
“Merlin, would you two stop? It’s getting annoying,” he hissed at Y/N and Sirius, whom had been all giggly and touchy for the entire class.
“Does it bother you to see a happy couple in love, Prongs?” Sirius teased, barely suppressing a laugh.
“I’m just trying to pay attention to class,” he mumbled annoyed, his fists clenching slightly.
“Don’t be mean to him, Sirius!” Y/N bumped her fist on his arm. “He’s bitter because Lily is still turning him down despite his best efforts,” Y/N looked at James sympathetically as if saying she was sorry for him.
James sighed heavily at the mention of Lily’s name. Sure, it did annoy him that she was still rejecting his attempts of woo her, but, if he was being quite frank, it didn’t bother or frustrate him like it used to. If anything, it just... he didn’t even know anymore. Why he was still chasing her. Why he was still trying to get her to go out with him. It was seeming more and more pointless lately. He wasn’t sure if he was still pinning after her for a purpose or solely for the challenge.
“Earth to James!” Y/N waved her hand in front of James’ eyes. “You there?”
James tilted his head a little so his best friend’s face could enter his visual field. Her y/h/c hair was loose in a messy way that suited her perfectly, matching harmonically her hypnotic y/e/c eyes. She had a natural confidence that seemed to radiate from her body and wrap every single soul in the room. She was truly effortlessly magnetic. James started feeling flustered suddenly, unbeknownst to why.
“You alright there, mate?” Sirius asked with a brow lifted, staring at him.
“Never better, Pads!” James shot a cocky grin his way, brushing off the unsettling feeling in the pit of his stomach.
James fell unusually quiet for the short rest of the class, his mind flickering between Y/N and Sirius and Lily. Everything just seemed so... out of place right now. He didn’t even notice Slughorn dismissing the class until Y/N tapped gently on his shoulder.
“Are you coming, Jamesy?” She asked, Sirius wrapping her against his chest. “Everyone else is already gone.”
“Sure...” James mumbled, still a little airy. His eyes wandered from Sirius’ tight grip around Y/N to her hand gently holding his wrist as her thumb caressed his skin lightly.
“Hurry up, Prongs! We can’t be late for lunch, I have a special surprise for my love here,” Sirius lifted Y/N’s chin gently whilst staring devilishly into her eyes.
James once again felt the same unsettling feeling he did before in the pit of his stomach when he noticed a subtle pink tone brushing through Y/N’s cheeks for a split second as she stared dumbfounded at Sirius.
“You two realize Marlene isn’t even here anymore to witness your annoying flirt, don’t you?” James asked his friends grumpily.
“Would you lighten up for Merlin’s sake, Prongs? Love is never annoying!” Sirius winked at him.
“Love might not be but you certainly are, darling,” Y/N retorted teasingly at Sirius, who took his free hand to his chest in mock offense.
“I usually grow on people, do you know that? Don’t you be so quick on biting the hand that feeds you,” he winged his brows at their amused female friend.
“You really are a complete prat, Sirius Black!” Y/N rolled her eyes with a large grin.
They were so invested on teasing each other that they had seemingly forget about James’ presence. The Gryffindor Quidditch captain spat an annoyed goodbye at his friends before storming off the classroom.
Y/N frowned and mentioned to follow James, but Sirius quickly grabbed her gently by the arm, stopping her from doing so.
“What are you doing? We have to go check on him! Haven’t you noticed how annoyed he left?” She lifted a brow at the grey-eyed boy.
“I did, indeed. But I also have noticed that he seems a little too annoyed at us lately, specially at me,” he narrowed his eyes thoughtfully.
“Your point? He’s probably still frustrated at his last unsuccessful attempt of wooing Lily,” Y/N sighed.
“Oh, love, believe me, this has nothing to do with Lily. I know Prongs way too well, better than he knows himself, if I may add.”
“Are you implying he’s in love with you?” Y/N exploded in a loud laugh. “Of course it has to do with Lily. It always has something to do with Lily.”
Sirius narrowed his eyes whilst a mischievous grin took over his face. Y/N did a pretty good job in hiding her annoyance when she mentioned Lily’s name, but Sirius could read his y/h/c friend like an open book. He noticed it.
“What now?” She frowned at him.
“Nothing, love. Nothing at all. Come, let’s sit by the Black Lake, shall we? It’s too much of a beautiful day to spend it locked indoors,” he winked knowingly at his friend whilst taking her by the hand, another plan taking form inside his mind.
——————————————————————
“Where are Padfoot and Y/N?” Remus asked no one in particular as he glanced around the Gryffindor table at lunch time.
“Haven’t seen them since Potions this morning,” Peter shrugged uninterested.
“They’re probably snogging somewhere,” James said bitterly, his eyes glued on his food.
Remus lifted a brow at James whilst Peter blinked his eyes in confusion.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Remus asked him with a furrowed expression.
“There’s nothing to read into it. I just meant what I said,” James shrugged, a grimace on his features as he looked at Remus and Peter.
“But Prongs...” Peter whispered as quietly as he could without being incomprehensible. “We know this between them is just for show.”
“Do we? Please, Wormy. You know Padfoot. We all do,” James said calmly. “It’s just a matter of time until they cross the line, assuming they haven’t already.”
“What if they have? It’s not like it’s any of our business,” Remus narrowed his eyes thoughtfully at the messy-haired boy.
“But it is!” James exclaimed exasperatedly. “Y/N is also our friend, why do I seem like I’m the only one who cares about her wellbeing?! Padfoot is smitten with Marlene, you know that Moony. Y/N is the one who’ll end up getting hurt amidst this craziness.”
“Y/N is a smart girl, Prongs. She’s not naive. I highly doubt she or Padfoot himself will do something as stupid as that,” Remus shrugged before taking a piece of turkey to his mouth.
James bit his tongue and returned his gaze to his nearly untouched plate. He really hoped both Y/N and Sirius were smart enough to prevent what could only be described as a catastrophe, at least in his eyes. Just the thought of his best female friend being hurt by Sirius’ reckless actions made him feel like punching something. Or, more accurately, someone.
A loud sound of giggles snapped James out of his thoughts and drove him to wander his eyes to the big doors that separated the Great from the Entrance Hall. Holding hands, Y/N and Sirius were all smiles as they entered the room and approached their table.
“You almost missed the meal,” Peter scolded them with a motherly tone.
“Worry not, my dear Wormtail! We already ate,” Sirius winked at him.
“How’s that possible? You’ve just arrived,” Remus lifted a brow at Sirius.
“We raided the kitchen,” Y/N shrugged as she took a seat next to Remus.
Sirius plunk down by Y/N’s side and wrapped her in his arms guilelessly, playing with a lock of her hair. Nothing different than his usual behavior — since he and Y/N were pretty close friends themselves — but enough to drive James off the edge.
“You alright there, mate?” Sirius asked him for the second time that day, looking even more amused then he did firstly.
James blinked at the sudden attention as his other three best friends stared at him inquisitively. He only then realized how tense his body was and the tight grip he had around his fork. His knuckles were white due to how much pressure he was putting into it. The Gryffindor boy relaxed with a couple of deep breaths before letting his fork rest by the side of his plate.
“Hey, Prongs!” Peter whispered excitedly, breaking the awkward silence that fell upon the usually-very-talkative Marauders. “Fourth person on your left... look who’s staring at you!”
James gladly allowed his focus to shift from Y/N and Sirius as he looked to where Peter had told him. He lifted his brows in surprise as he’s met by Lily’s eyes, a small and shy smile forming on her face as their eyes locked. James returned her smile, waiting for the butterflies to flutter his stomach as they always did whenever he used to have some kind of interaction with the redhead. But they didn’t come at all. Not this time.
“What the bloody hell is happening to me?” He thought to himself as he forced himself to hold Lily’s stare for what seemed like forever.
“Looks like someone is finally wooing the girl of their dreams,” Remus teased after James broke off the eye contact.
“It was about time! I don’t think I could stand another year of this pitiful chase, it was getting quite embarrassing mate,” Sirius joked, earning amused laughs from both Peter and Remus.
“Would you three stop already?” Y/N rolled her eyes. “I’m happy for you, Jamesy. Don’t mind them,” she reached for his hand across the table and gave it a light squeeze. A sweet smile on her lips.
James felt his stomach leaping like crazy inside of him at her touch. He furrowed his brows at the unknown feeling, his hand lingering on hers a while too longer.
——————————————————————
“You’re staring,” Remus pointed out without taking his eyes off his book.
“I’m not!” James denied quickly. “I’m just thinking about what to write on my essay.”
“Is your essay stamped on Y/N’s and Sirius’ faces?” The boy with chocolate eyes teased.
“Don’t you think they’re spending way too much time together?” James asked as he stared at Y/N and Sirius laughing together in a distant corner inside the Common Room. Y/N’s cheeks were flustered due to how hard Sirius was making her laugh.
“Meaning?” Remus’ attention was now solely on James as he studied his friend with a quirked eyebrow.
“Meaning they’ve got other friends outside each other, you know?!” James sounded a lot more harsh than he ever planned to.
The sound of Y/N’s laugh echoed in the room once more. She sounded like a 4-year-old laughing, it was absolutely adorable and completely contagious. James couldn’t help a small smile to spread across his face. He then caught himself wishing he could make her laugh like that. His face fell suddenly as he wondered why this thought would ever cross his mind.
“If it bothers you so much why don’t you just talk to her about it?” Remus shrugged, his focus back on his book.
James reflected on his friend’s advise for a short while until his vision got red again as Sirius trailed his fingers across Y/N’s back whilst whispering something into her ear. James closed his book with a loud bang, startling Remus and other few students who sat close to them.
“Where the bloody are you going?” Remus asked as his friend got on his feet and started gathering his things.
“Somewhere I can actually study,” James mumbled before moving in the direction of the portrait hole.
James wandered aimlessly through the castle, both his mind and heart racing and pounding with questions and emotions. Was he losing his mind? He didn’t know what was happening to him, why or how it started and neither how to make it stop. Y/N didn’t seem nearly as bothered at Sirius’ blatant advances, so he shouldn’t be either, right?!
As James’ feet stopped suddenly on their own, his surroundings came into focus once again and he caught himself staring back at him in a bathroom mirror. He rested his books on top of the nearest sink and took his glasses off, throwing a quick splash of water in his face and leaning over so he could rest his hands on the basin marble.
“What’s happening to me?” He mumbled to his own reflexion.
——————————————————————
“Gather around, kids!” Slughorn said proudly in front of a cauldron as the students started arriving for the Potions class.
Y/N, James, Sirius, Remus and Peter approached the Professor and peeked curiously into the cauldron content. A mother-of-pearl sheen liquid with a spiraling steam lied inside of it. Y/N shifted uncomfortably on her feet as she instantly recognized what the potion with such an unusual shine was.
“Oh...” Sirius whispered not so quietly into her ear with an annoying teasing tone, wrapping his arm on her shoulders.
“Oh Indeed, Mr. Black,” Slughorn grinned amusedly at the raven-haired boy. “Perhaps Miss Y/L/N could tell us what this potion is?”
“Amortentia, Sir. The most powerful love potion in the world. It causes a powerful infatuation or obsession from the drinker. It is distinctive for its mother-of-pearl sheen, and steam rises from the potion in spirals. It’s also known by its smelling properties. Amortentia smells different to each person, according to what — or should I say who — attracts them,” Y/N promptly answered the Professor’s question.
The room was dead silent as everyone stared at the cauldron with great interest after Y/N’s words. Especially the girls, whom all eyed the liquid furtively.
“Very good, Miss L/N! Ten points to Gryffindor!” Slughorn rumbled satisfied.
“That was hot,” Sirius joked, winking at Y/N.
James clenched his teeth as he stared at Sirius, feeling increasingly annoyed at the ever so blatant flirt and not hearing Slughorn asking for a volunteer to smell the potion in front of the entire class.
“Oh, Mr. Potter!” Slughorn exclaimed, dragging his attention back to the class. “Come here now, don’t be shy,” the teacher motioned for him to approach the cauldron.
Looking around, James realized the entire class stepped back and he was standing considerably afar from them. Gulping, the always-so-brave-and-carefree Gryffindor boy slowly started to walk to the cauldron, feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders.
“Just go already, mate! We all know you’re gonna smell something Lily-related anyway!” Sirius shouted from behind him, earning laughs from almost the entire student body present at the class.
“I highly doubt he will,” Lily said out of the blue, making James stop suddenly on his feet and turn around to face her.
“What was that, love?” He quirked an eyebrow at her with a devilish smile. There was nothing that turned him on more than a challenge.
“I said you wouldn’t smell me. My bet is on something Quidditch-related. But I’ll tell you what, if you do smell anything that actually has something to do with me, I’ll let you take me out on a date,” Lily crossed her arms against her chest defiantly.
That was it, the moment James had been waiting for ever since he first laid his eyes on Lily. The moment he thought would be the happiest of his life. The moment that would leave him feeling over the moon of joy. But nothing of this happened. Sure, it felt satisfactory to finally achieve a long-term goal and finally convincing Lily, but that was it. Just it.
“Go on, Potter! We don’t have all day!” Someone among the Slytherin students shouted, clearly excited to see the outcome of the proposal.
James then walked to Slughorn and stood in front of the cauldron, facing his fellow Gryffindors and the Slytherin crowd.
“Now, Mr. Potter, close your eyes and take a deep breath,” Slughorn instructed as he stepped aside and left James and the cauldron all alone in the spotlight. “And then let us know what you smelled!”
James did exactly as Professor Slughorn had told him to. At first, nothing happened, and then, suddenly, a powerful wave of the most endearing and hypnotic smell enveloped him and raided all of his senses. The smell was an intoxicating mixture of patchouli, sandalwood and cranberry. His eyes widened open as he instantly recognized where he had already smelled this. It was her smell. Y/N’s signature smell.
James’ eyes searched the little crowd furiously until they landed on Y/N. She was inspecting her nails, weirdly quite interested. He wanted to shout so she could look at him. He wanted to lock eyes with her and tell her what he had just smelled. He wanted to run at her and sweep her off her feet, spin her around and tell her what had been in his heart unbeknownst to him this whole time. He now knew what was happening to him.
“Mr. Potter?” Slughorn’s voice alerted James that he and the entire class were waiting for his answer.
James nodded at the Professor and allowed his eyes to land on Y/N once again before finally answering him. However, what he witnessed made his stomach sink. Y/N was whispering something into Sirius’ ear and his left hand was clutched on her waist.
“So that’s why she wouldn’t look at me,” he thought bitterly at himself.
James’ eyes wandered to Lily, a sudden frustration invading him. The redhead looked at him expectantly, unlike Y/N, who was too immersed on Sirius to notice the longing looks he had been sending her way lately. Sighing, James made a stupid decision in the heat of the moment.
“I smell vanilla and lilies,” he announced to Slughorn, knowing very well Lily smelled like that.
When he turned around to face the class again, Y/N and Sirius were nowhere to be found. Lily on the other hand, was standing right where she was, blinking with a dumbfounded expression.
——————————————————————
“Please, Sirius, don’t make me go in there,” Y/N begged Sirius as they approached the Three Broomsticks. She knew exactly what she was going to witness once they went into the establishment.
“Come on now, Y/N! Marlene is going to be there with Alice, please?” He gave her his best puppy eyes as he implored.
“How long will we have to keep up with this?” She asked, pointing back and forth between the two of them.
“Until she admits she has the hots for me,” he winked at his best friend, who simply rolled her eyes at him.
When they entered the pub, their eyes instantly fell on the table where a certain couple was having their first date. Sirius squeezed Y/N’s hand as he noticed her gaze lingering on James’ back.
“Let’s get this over with, shall we?” She mumbled, pulling Sirius by the hand to a distant table where Remus, Peter, Alice and Marlene sat chatting happily.
“Finally! Where the two of you were?” Remus exclaimed as Y/N and Sirius approached them.
“We were a little... busy, Moony,” Sirius winked suggestively at his friends. “Seems like I’m simply irresistible to my sunshine here.”
Marlene rolled her eyes at them, clearly beyond annoyed at Y/N’s and Sirius’ presence.
“Y/N, tell me, how can you possibly tolerate him, darling?” Remus teased as he noticed Marlene’s annoyance and Sirius’ proud grin.
“I usually keep my lips on his for as long as I can so he can’t speak. That’s the key,” Y/N shrugged, getting into character.
Remus, Peter, Alice and even Marlene laughed at Sirius’ shocked expression at Y/N’s comeback. She forced herself to laugh as well even though she was feeling everything but joy right now.
Stealing a glance in James’ direction, their eyes locked for a while before he drove his attention back to Lily and Y/N felt the sudden need of fresh air.
“I have to use the loo. Be right back,” Y/N mumbled at her friends whilst getting up.
The chit-chat ceased quickly as three of the Marauders and the two girls observed the y/h/c girl shy away from them.
“So, how’s our plan going, babe?” Marlene asked excitedly to Sirius as soon as they couldn’t see Y/N anymore, linking her arm in his.
Before Sirius could say anything, Remus cut him off asking with a much shocked tone of voice: “What plan are you two talking about? Didn’t Marlene despised you like you told us when you’ve asked Y/N for help to make her jealous? Why is she calling you babe? What is going on here?”
“Hold your wolves, would ya Moony? We’ll explain everything,” Sirius grinned. “I did tell Y/N that but Marlene and I had already been sneaking around unbeknownst to general knowledge.”
“Was that supposed to enlighten me?” Remus quirked a brow at him.
“Let me explain, for Merlin’s sake!” Marlene lifted a hand in front of Sirius as he opened his mouth to start talking. “We were snogging in an empty classroom under James’ invisibility cloak this one time when he and Y/N suddenly sneaked in as they ran away from Filch-“
-
“Oh, Sirius,” Marlene mumbled pleasantly at the raven-haired boy who was brushing his lips against her neck teasingly.
“Do you like that?” He asked softly.
“Ye-Yeah,” she muttered in response amidst a heavy sigh.
The couple was suddenly startled as the classroom door clicked open and was quickly closed again with an explosion of giggles. They quickly parted as they stared confusedly at Y/N and James, whom were out of breath and leant against the dark and old rock-wall, hands clutched together.
“Merlin, did you see Filch’s face?” James asked with a laugh.
“I honestly thought he’d spit fire,” Y/N answered with a snore, her face completely flustered from all the running.
James stared at his friend in a comfort silent for quite some time, as if he was engraving her every feature in his mind. “Godric, you’re beautiful.”
Sirius gasped at his friend’s words. Marlene’s mouth fell open.
It was only when Y/N’s eyes widened that James realized he had said that out loud.
“I-I mean, you’re quite alright for a girl and everything, mate,” he added quickly, making even more of a fool out of himself.
“Yeah... thanks, mate,” Y/N answered with a furrowed expression. She was clearly embarrassed as well. “We should probably get going before Filch comes back. Where did you leave your bloody cloak anyway?”
“I’m not sure, I couldn’t find it anywhere. Sirius must’ve borrowed it,” he shrugged, opening the door and checking the outside surroundings for any sign of Filch. “Let’s go!” He grabbed Y/N by the hand and led her out of the classroom, closing the door behind them.
“Did he just say what I heard?” Sirius checked with Marlene just to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating as he tossed the invisibility cloak on the floor.
“He actually did,” she answered, a little shocked herself. “Not that it was surprising in any way, I mean, it‘s quite obvious he has it bad for her, I just didn’t think he’d ever notice, he pinning after Lily and everything,” Marlene shrugged.
“I don’t think he reckoned his feelings just yet, James can be a bit of a thick-head sometimes.”
“A bit? And just sometimes? The lad has been chasing after the same girl - who wants nothing to do with him if I may add - for almost six whole years. He definitely is a big time thick-head,” Marlene quirked a brow at Sirius.
“You’re right...” he mumbled thoughtfully. “We have to do something, they’ve got too much pride to ever admit their feelings for each other.”
Marlene shot him a grin as the perfect idea crossed her mind, “have you told anyone about us?”
“Not yet.”
“Good, here’s what we’re going to do...” Marlene started to explain him how he’d tell everyone she didn’t want anything to do with him and then ask for Y/N’s help to make her jealous in front of all of his friends. She made sure to let him know he was supposed to flirt hard with Y/N when James was around.
-
“Did you really have to make the beginning so... graphic?” Alice asked with a grimace once Marlene had told them the entire story.
“Agreed!” Remus quirked his brows at the secret couple. “But I have to say, this idea was quite... clever.”
“It really was,” Peter nodded excitedly. “Padfoot definitely stroke a nerve by flirting with Y/N in front of Prongs.”
“And so did Lily by pretending she was finally interested in him,” Marlene smiled proudly at herself.
“Wait... what?” Sirius looked utterly shocked as he asked her.
“Yeah, sorry about that, but I thought it’d look more... realistic if you didn’t know that. You care about Y/N, you wouldn’t bare seeing her hurt without letting her know the truth,” Marlene shrugged at her boyfriend.
“Woman... you are the love of my life,” Sirius grinned devilishly at her, taking her hand in his and kissing her knuckles.
-
“That prick...” James mumbled at himself as he clenched his fists at the sight of Sirius flirting and touching Marlene. Didn’t he have no respect for Y/N? He literally just waited until she turned her back to be a complete prat.
“What?” A bored Lily asked.
James realized he had been staring at their friends table basically ever since Y/N and Sirius first showed up, leaving Lily hanging. But, truth be told, the date sucked even before that. He and Lily had zero chemistry, zero common ground, zero... everything. They definitely didn’t belong together.
“Look Evans...” he started after a heavy sigh, looking for the right words.
“This date sucks,” Lily completed as she shrugged in relief. “I know.”
“Well, I’d probably be way more gentle than that, but... that’s what I was trying to say,” he laughed.
“You didn’t smell vanilla and lilies when you inhaled Amortentia, did you?” She quirked a brow at him.
“No...” he furrowed apologetically. “I smelled patchouli, sandalwood and cranberry. As in-“
“Y/N’s artisanal perfume,” she cut him off with a smirk. “Why did you lie you idiot?”
“In my defense, I was gonna tell the truth but then... I saw her and Sirius flirting and, well, you know what I did,” he shrugged.
“Your stupidness never fails to amaze me, Potter,” Lily rolled her eyes at the hazel-eyed boy. “Sirius would never get himself involved with a girl his best mate fancied.”
“Please, he could never know I fancy Y/N,” he furrowed his brows in disbelief. “I’ve only realized it myself a couple days ago.”
“Potter, you oblivious daft, everyone knows you have it bad for her for ages and the other way around,” she rolled her eyes at him once again.
“Are you saying-“
“That the entire school already realized you both long for each other? Yes. Now, let’s go,” Lily stood up and motioned with her head for him to follow her.
“Where are we going?” He asked confused.
“You are going to tell Y/N what Amortentia really smelled like to you and I am going to watch it alongside all of our friends and tease the two of you later,” she said as if it was obvious whilst they crossed the pub.
-
“He admitted his feelings towards Y/N out loud,” Lily announced amused as they approached their friends, taking Y/N’s vacant seat.
“Bloody finally!” Sirius and Remus shouted in unison as they both lifted their glasses in mock celebration.
“I have to say I thought I’d have to kiss her in front of you so your blind self would finally realize your own damn feelings,” Sirius grinned amused at James.
“Please, this is Prongs we’re talking about! He’d probably punch you in the face and still not have a clue as to why he was so angry at the whole situation,” Remus teased with a smirk.
“Sod off, would you?” James flashed his middle finger at them, his eyes scanning the entire place. “Where’s Y/N?”
“She said she was going to use the loo, let me go look for her,” Alice answered James with an excited smile.
James stood there full of hope whilst Alice went looking for Y/N, his heart pounding against his chest and his hands sweating as he thought about finally telling her how he felt.
Alice reappeared again a few minutes later, but there was no sign of Y/N as she walked back to their table.
“She wasn’t there,” she told James, a furrowed expression on her face.
“Where the bloody hell can she possibly be?” Sirius asked with a confused look.
“The castle...” James mumbled at himself before taking off hurriedly.
Marlene stood up as quickly as she could and mentioned to run after James.
“What are you doing?” Sirius asked with a scrunched face.
“Well, I’m definitely not gonna miss the pathetic scene of him finally confessing his feelings to our Y/N, will you?” She quirked an eyebrow.
The little crowd exchanged looks among them before getting up recklessly and take off on James’ trail.
——————————————————————
“How do I do that? How do I tell her I have feelings for her after saying in front of the entire class I smelled lilies as I inhaled Amortentia?” James asked breathlessly as he stopped suddenly in front of the Fat Lady portrait, turning on his heels so he could face his friends.
“Preferable with your mouth, although I suppose you could use your hands as well, you know, to make it more... intimate,” Sirius suggested with a devilishly grin, winging his eyebrows.
“Merlin. I don’t even know what to say about... that,” Lily looked disgusted at Sirius, turning to James afterwards. “Just... do something meaningful for the both of you. Use something that the two of you have in common to make it special. I’m sure it’ll earn you extra points.”
“I’m with Evans on this one,” Remus shrugged. “Sorry, Padfoot.”
They kept throwing suggestions at him, but James wasn’t paying attention anymore. Lily’s words were hammering inside his head as he was thinking about what to do. And then, suddenly, as if it was magic, a brilliant idea popped inside his mind.
“Fat Lady, has Y/N came in already?” James asked the portrait that guarded the entrance to the Gryffindor tower.
“Yes, Potter, she came in a while ago in fact. She didn’t have the best of looks on her face if I may add, I’m assuming she went straight upstairs to her dormitory,” the portrait answered promptly, gladly giving away the juicy details in hopes to gossip a little bit.
“Perfect!” James grinned at the painting. “Thanks, love!” He shouted before running through the hallway.
“Should we follow him?” Peter asked Remus and Sirius.
“What if he comes back?” Sirius shrugged.
“I don’t think he will,” Lily smiled, realizing what he was about to do.
“Mind sharing the why?” Marlene quirked a brow at her.
“Think about it. What’s the one thing they both equally love fiercely?” Lily asked the little crowd with a grin. “Despite each other, of course.”
“Quidditch...” Remus answered slowly, realizing James’ intentions as well.
Before anyone could say anything, James came back and flew by them on his broom, a large grin on his face, “well? Are you lot coming or what?”
Taking off as fast as he could and with his friends on his trail, James flew around the hallways of the castle in the direction of the sloping lawns in the school grounds.
As James proceeded on his flying, he started to draw more and more curious students returning from the Hogsmeade trip, that way, by the time he had approached the exterior walls of the Gryffindor Tower, he had quite a crowd standing underneath him.
Touching the ground slightly, James gathered a few little pieces of rocks and hopped on his broom again, flying up until he reached the same level of the girls dorm’s window.
Before James could execute his plan, a loud shout from Minerva McGonagall startled him.
“James Potter, get off this broom immediately!”
Before James could answer and beg for her to let him do what he had come here to in the first place, the window cracked open. As his eyes shot in the direction of the sound, James spotted an utterly confused Y/N staring at him.
“James what the bloody hell are you doing?” She asked with a frown.
“Well, I was planning on throwing these rocks softly at your window until you opened them up, but I guess there’s no point in doing so now,” he shrugged, showing her the rocks he had clutched into his palm.
“And why would you do that?” She giggled at him, causing butterflies to flutter inside James’ stomach.
“Because I have something rather important to discuss with you, love,” he grinned.
“Why didn’t you just shout my name from the Common Room then, you mental?” She quirked her eyebrows.
“‘m afraid that wouldn’t be as nearly as romantic.”
“Romantic? What are you talking about?” She asked, a disrupted look on her face. “James, what’s going on here?”
“POTTER!” McGonagall shouted once again.
“Could you give a smitten boy a second to confess his feelings for Merlin’s sake, Minnie?” He shouted with a wink at the Professor.
“Well... I suppose I can,” she shrugged with a discreet side smirk. “And Potter?”
“Yes, Minnie?”
“Glad to see you finally build up the courage,” she smiled at the dumbfounded look the boy gave her.
Y/N was still staring at James in shock as he drove his attention back to her.
“So...” she said.
“I lied at the Potions class last week,” he said out of the blue, gliding trough the air.
“Meaning?”
“Meaning I didn’t smell lilies or vanilla when I inhaled Amortentia.”
“And what did you smell?” Y/N asked and James could notice she was holding her breath back.
“Home,” the messy-haired boy answered with a gentle smile, his hazel eyes lingering on Y/N’s. “And it smelled like patchouli, sandalwood and cranberries.”
Slowly realizing he was describing her scents, Y/N’s cheeks heated up furiously as she stared at the boy she has been fancying for so long, her eyes widened in shock.
“James is this one of your jokes? If it is, I swear to Godric-“
“No, love. I’d never joke about something like that. I’d never do something like that to you,” he smiled gently. “I’m in love with you, madly in love with you. I have been for years. I’m sorry it took me so long to realize that.”
“In that case, would you get off this broom already so I can kiss you?” Y/N said with a lovingly frown.
“Gladly!” James’ face lit up as he hurriedly closed the space between his broom and the window, hopping inside the girl’s dorm.
“You’re crazy, you know that?” Y/N shook her head with a smile.
“About you? Definitely!” James grabbed Y/N by her waist and crashed his lips into her, finally tasting what true happiness was like.
