@spacewitchgardevoir
Thank you so much!! :DD Unfortunately I haven't thought much of that through yet.. I only have vague ideas so far. Like how the slimes in The Wilds will be hisuian pokemon for example. I plan to work more on the slimes soon! <XDD
Tumblr media
@sora-the-air-wubbox (Oh hey! I know of wubboxes! :D )

Tumblr media
AAAA THANK YOU!! :DD I haven't played the slime Rancher 2 demo but I still want to play it when the full game comes out! :))
Tumblr media
(PLA inspired comic in question)
AAAA THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! Having my artwork compared to the beautiful works of studio Ghibili is such an honor!! 😭😭💞💞💞
And speaking of a continuation.. I actually finished drawing a short comic last night about Ingo and Emmet's reunion. It was all done and ready to post... but then I changed my mind. The quality of the comic was much lower than the PLA comic I just did. No backgrounds, rushed line art.. uninspired house design.. eh. I just wasn't satisfied.
I still plan to post a reunion comic mind you! I just want to put more heart into it and try drawing it again- <XDD
Tumblr media
@blbllblblblll
A tempting offer I must say, but I'm still on break from the Octonauts fandom!.. <XD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
@neo-metalscottic
Thank you!! :DDD And my favorite slime is the puddle slime.. 🥺💞 and my fave largo has gotta be the Mosaic x phosphor, but specifically the secret style pack version XDD
Now for Boom Boom and Pom Pom.. that's a good question.. I haven't really thought about them :00 I supposed they can be some higher ranking soldiers of some kind! (Also my Koopa Kingdoms has more primitive technology than in cannon <XD. Although they get quite a boost thanks to magikoopas.👀👀)
Also the super ball flower creates some interesting ideas.. maybe it could be a flower that allows Mario and Luigi to turn things into metal? But why would it be a flower.. hmm.. I think I'll have to do a lot of retconning If I wants to add this flower to my AU <XDD
Also thank you for the ask! Always appreciated :)))
Tumblr media
@fizzy-stars
XDD Who knows? Maybe they are!
Tumblr media
@wolfie-777
XDD Cant say I'll make a comic series for them, but if I did it would totally be like that! Mostly Dink being high energy and annoying the sleepy Doink XDD
Tumblr media
So far my intentions are that they don't have a trainer :00

YOU ARE GIVING ME SOOO MANY ANGST IDEAS 👀👀👀

@red1sg0n3
:DD THANK YOUU!! :)))))
Tumblr media
@justanintrovertedweirdo
WAAAHHGGGTHTHANK YOUUU SO MUCHH!!!!! 😭😭💞💞💞💞
And I'm so glad you feel the same way about the whole romantic love thing!! Sure they're great an all.. but I feel like the only kinds of relationships I see I fandoms are romantic ships..
Where are all the brotherhood comics? Characters motivated by a deep love for each other but its platonic and not romantic? I have so much more fun experimenting with those kinds of stories!
Tumblr media
@cherrycreamfairy
:DDD Thank you! I'm glad to see Jangles getting some love! 🥰🥰
Tumblr media
@kirshimadenkisero
XDD Go for it!
Tumblr media
I know this was probably a drawing suggestion, but since they're closed now I'll answer it as a question....😅
My favorite legendary is a tough pick.. I love a lot of them.. 🥺💞💞but man, its hard to beat Xerneas. My favorite shiny is also a hard pick.. Its gonna have to be shiny Giratina. With shiny Rayquaza and shiny primal Kyogre as honorable mentions XDD
I know you didn't say this but I'll put it in there anyways XDD My favorite sub-legendary is Suicune. But my favorite shiny out of the sub-legendaries is actually Chi-Yu.. 👀👀
My favorite mythical Pokémon is Celebi , and my favorite shiny mythical is also Celebi. XDD I love that littol onion,,🥺💞💞💞

reguarding the trixie mario kart post,
do you have thoughts for the other characters? like mains/ skill level/ play style that kinda thing
love ur posts sm :3
(Naww thank you <33)
Molly
she WILL hit you with that green shell
especially right before the finish line
in fact all that stored up anger makes her incredibly good at sniping people with items
Molly knows about a few shortcuts but doesn't really use them because she's too worried about ruining her race by failing them
mains Toadette (and Isabelle but technically she isn't really a Mario Kart character but I'll ignore it since she's in the game)
her favorite track is Maple Treeway
Phoenica
She's too nice to use the items
actually she doesn't even really RACE at all, because it's irresponsible to drive a vehicle at these speeds
Feenie tries to apply real world driving laws to Mario Kart
it does not go well
there are no laws in Baby Park, only chaos
She loves the Princess drivers the most and adores the Babies
Uses smart steering
ALWAYS picks Daisy Circuit because of the statues of Luigi and Daisy together (she thinks they're very adorable)
Trixie
as said, she mains Drybones
Trixie knows ALL the important game breaking things. Shortcuts, best item spots, what would theoretically be the best combo, you name it
I think they'd prefer the bikes over the karts
favorite tracks are Coconut Mall (the Mario Kart fandom will understand why), Mushroom Gorge and Boo Lake
has to intentionally play bad so people don't stop playing with her at all
if anyone has a perfect rating in all cups at all speeds it's Trixie
Rick
he's terrible
I don't think he has fully figured out how a race works, even though he was told multiple times
this man right here plays as a Mii racer, you can't change my mind
he likes playing together with Phoenica. They don't race, they just drive around the courses and look at the pretty scenery together
if he ever gets any speed item in the item roulette he will cause chaos
probably drives backwards and against walls as we're speaking
Giovanni
the way he plays makes you think he's really bad at hiding that he lets you win
.....oh wait no, he's actually worse than thought-
he's oddly competitive even though his skills aren't the best but will intentionally play even worse when he knows someone is having a bad day
mostly uses King Boo, Waluigi and Birdo
favorite tracks include: Excitebike Arena, 3DS Neo Bowser City, Waluigi Pinball and Choco Mountain
he also has terrible luck in this game
loses most of his good items to shocks or gets hit over and over again
Sylvie
oh PLEASE he's way too adult for childish games like these
if you invite him over he'll spend the entire day infront of this game, experiencing inhuman joy whenever he gets a top spot, but he'll never admit it
Lorelai
I feel like if anyone were to cheat in Mario Kart it would be her
I'm not even sure how but she probably finds a way
actually this game would be terrible for her she will get so frustrated over this
she sometimes uses tracks like the Rainbow Roads, Rosalina's Ice World and Sky-High Sundae as inspirations for her Dream Bubbles
most likely likes Rosalina and Daisy the most
Zora
she will make your life a living hell here
sometimes she doesn't even drive she just...waits at the line with items....ready to ruin your entire game
she could totally win if she wanted to but she'd have fun in just targeting some player

Reading your most recent post on Movie!Bowser… it does make me quite curious as to how they’ll handle Bowser and Mario’s fighting dynamic in the hypothetical second Mario movie. In terms of physical strength, I mean. Game!Mario is quite capable of taking down Bowser in his original form(as in, can physically take Bowser down without power-ups) but Mario more or less needed the aid of the star power-up to do so. The movie versions of M&L are definitely closer to normal humans in terms of fighting prowess, so it makes me wonder if they’ll try having Mario, and Luigi by proxy, fight in hand-to-hand combat with no power-ups with Bowser at some point?
Maybe that could be a plot point in the second movie? Bowser worms his way out and starts whichever villainous plot his evil little heart desires, and Mario and Luigi start off a journey of sorts to find another star power-up, believing it crucial in obtaining victory? But, unable to find it, they’re more or less thrown into the fray with their wits and only limited power-ups in tow? And thus sustain a significant amount more of injuries without their invincibility from the star? (And perhaps the fabled green mushroom makes its debut that way…) The movies could have an interesting juxtaposition with the first movie bros being inexperienced + power-upped vs. second movie bros being more experienced + ….not-so-power-upped lol. They sort’ve have to earn their hero titles more(though moreso in the eyes of themselves only. Mostly everyone around them is already like ‘Duh. Your heroes with or without them.’ But, alas, character arcs! Potentially!) Sorry, I’m kinda word vomiting, but day by day I grow ever more curious how the second movie could play out….
One thing I like about The Super Mario Bros. Movie is that it's pretty much just an origin story. There is so much room to expand between where the movie left off and the full Mario lore as we know it today, and I for one am interested in the process of Mario and Luigi going from "Haha! We're heroes!" to "Oh f*ck, we're heroes," to "Okay... we're heroes... we can do this."
Like, how would they react to the idea of facing off against Bowser again without a power star to help them? How will their dynamic shake out when they're bouncing from one life-or-death situation to another? How will they balance their protectiveness toward each other with their moral obligations? Where will the new stakes take them? What new powerup/ally/enemy will they encounter? But back to what you're saying. If Mario and Luigi don't use powerups– even small ones– in the fight against Bowser, I predict a combination of the following tactics will be employed:
Reliance on dexterity. Bowser has them beat in terms of speed, strength, and resilience, but being a giant turtle monster he isn't nearly as agile as Mario and Luigi.
Using Bowser's emotions against him. It's his most glaring weakness, so while prodding at his ego is risky it could also make his movements more predictable.
Using their surroundings to their advantage instead of relying strictly on their own physical ability, which is a pretty common thing to do in Mario games (and video games in general.)
Leaning heavily on teamwork, not just with each other but with Peach, Toad, and probably Yoshi given the post-credits teaser.
And maybe a certain green and white mushroom will need to come into play at some point? We'll see. My biggest fear is that the writers will nerf Bowser a little so that he's easier to take on without the aid of the super star, but I really hope that doesn't happen. Speedy, strong, ruthless, unwavering, tactical, durable Bowser with a fire breath powerful enough to destroy civilizations is my favorite Bowser.

Brawl Tier List (Based On The Relevance of What They Were Doing When We Meet Them In Subspace Emissary)
Tumblr media
I'll explain some of my choices under the cut
So a lot of these choices are pretty obvious, although some are a bit iffy or require explanation of the Subspace story which can be found in trophy descriptions & The Dojo.
The first category was for characters who were engaged in the Subspace plot from the get-go and were the "good guys". In case you didn't know, King Dedede is the hero of Subspace, and if it weren't for him, Tabuu would have won, since he made the "reset badges", and his initial plan was to hold onto some people and give them the reset badges in case Tabuu used his Off Waves. Meta Knight is considered to be a good guy, even though he mostly just wanted to get the Halberd back. Fox I put into this category as well since he's first seen giving chase to the Halberd in his Arwing, so I consider that pretty engaged, even if we don't know the exact reasoning.
The second category is open and shut. They're the Bad Guys. Ganon, Bowser, and everyone's favorite winner, Wario. Technically Wario kinda defected from Tabuu and wanted to just steal all the trophies, but I'm counting him here.
Next was the "Used by Tabuu" tier. According to the lore, the entire Subspace Army is made from the power of Game and Watch (although it says the Game & Watch are unaware of this). Pikachu's electricity was being used to power a lot of the operations (most notably the Subspace Bomb Factory iirc). And it's implied that R.O.B was coerced into helping Tabuu, feeling so ashamed that he put on the Ancient Minister garb to hide himself out of shame.
The "Was Doing What You Expect" Tier is a tricky one, since some characters like Mario & Kirby weren't doing what you'd expect in their normal games, but they were fighting, which is something you'd expect in Smash, but I was kinda lenient. Pit was watching from Skyworld, which is in character. It's shown that Pokemon Trainer was looking for Ivysaur and Charizard, so we can assume he was on that journey when we found him in the Ruined Zoo. ZSS's motivations are kind of unclear about whether she knew about the Subspace Bombs and tried to stop them or if she just knew her Power Suit was there and wanted to get to it. I always figured it was the latter, so I'm putting it in this tier. Marth was defending a castle, which sounds right (I haven't played Fire Emblem). Ice Climbers were climbing ice. Monkeys were getting their bananas. Link was getting Master Sword. Yoshi was sleeping (which only gets him out of "Just Standing There" tier because he is Yoshi).
Next are the ones who just kinda showed up. And it so happens that all five of them make a pretty grand entrance. Sonic is the obvious example here. Ness also counts since there's no implication that either he or Lucas actually live in or even near the Ruined Zoo, but then again in the dialogue-less cutscenes tying together over 30 characters, I don't think that detail was important. Falco makes a grand entrance, although you could argue that he was meant to be Fox's backup. Ike makes a grand entrance with this Great Aether. Captain Falcon literally shows up to jump out of his car, punch a robot and kill approximately 50 aliens in one fell swoop, so either there was an F-Zero track around the Island of the Ancients that we don't see and he quit in the middle of his race to do that, or he just did that. Either way there's something wrong with him.
And then finally we have the characters who were Just Standing There. Luigi obviously was minding his own business when he got got by Dedede. Peach and Zelda I almost put in the "Doing What You Expect Tier" (or at LEAST Peach since she knew Mario at least), but honestly? They were just standing there. No hate, obviously. Sometimes you just gotta Stand There. Olimar was minding his own business letting his Pikmin eat a robot before they were murdered. Lucario was vibing on top of a mountain (as you do). Lucas was just being sad. And Snake? We don't see any sign that he's on a mission. We just see that he's been on the Halberd for an undisclosed period of time before dramatically revealing himself way way later. I like to imagine he accidentally fell asleep.
And then the last tier are for the 3 characters that are unlocked after Subspace, so I don't really count them.
Anyway in case you can't tell I am back on my ADHD meds! Hope you enjoyed this. See you all for the Nuzlocke stream later.

I love fandom cookbooks but they're definitely very hit or miss and more often miss. 90% I'd say are "regular food we stuck a label on. this is now Mario and Luigi's Chili with Bowser garlic bread", or something. and because they're usually appealing to kids fandoms, a lot are like, kid friendly food/not very complex (think like, Toad Apple Slices with Yoshi deviled eggs, or Gamer Punch seltzer water with Kool aid in it, or like, wizard school chocolate dipped pretzel wands), or are like party fare. which isn't bad! my childhood special interest was party planning and I would have lost my shit over fandom themed parties.
But 2 I've really loved so far because their attention to the source material and complexity of the recipes have been the Minecraft and Stardew Valley official cookbooks. (yes I'm biased because I Like Those Games). The Minecraft one features food that's mostly in the game, with as much care to the source material as you can get in something that simple. My favorite recipe was for suspicious stew that actually included using edible flowers in the recipe (and it was a damn good mushroom stew!).
The SDV one uses as much of the source recipe ingredients as possible, and all the recipes are things found in-game, as faithfully recreated as possible. There's also lore and little tidbits about the foods in between each recipe. They're also sorted into seasons so you can cook seasonally appropriate produce! Both really feel like an actual chef and food writer wrote them, and not just a fan writer or something. Highly recommend them for some fun gamer themed chow

Ask and you shall receive and ask lmao 🤭🤭Ok, but gimmie some of your best Mario headcanons or favorite moments of his from games/ other media 👀
Yay! Thank you!! Have some assorted Mario headcanons (mostly related to my own take wherein he marries Peach and becomes royalty because I am, if nothing else, predictable).
✨ Who was it that came up with the theory that the bros' last name is a shortening of Marionetti, which itself is a variation of Marianetti? Because it's brilliant and I've adopted it.
✨ Hopeless Romantic Mario is REAL, God bless. Boy's believed in true love and soulmates all his life; he was popular(ish) in high school, but he never dated (or even went on a date) because he never felt That Spark with anyone, and he decided at an early age that he wanted to wait for The One™. "True love is love worth waiting for, Weegee!" he'd lecture as Luigi rolled his eyes behind his back.
✨He and Luigi speak exclusively in Italian at home and when talking amongst themselves. If they're both telling a story to their friends in tandem, they'll sometimes lapse into Italian without even realizing it.
✨ He's granted a knighthood at some point, and he gains the title of King Consort when he marries Peach. King Consort is rarely used IRL; here, it's used to denote that he has more political influence and say-so than a Prince Consort would typically have, thanks to his extensive history of heroism and the sheer level of trust he's gained with both the government and the citizens of the Mushroom Kingdom. So he's like... halfway between a Prince Consort and King Regent.
✨ He's trained to be able to do everything Peach does so he can step in for her if need be (temporarily, and with assistance), but at the end of the day, she still holds significantly more power than he does (which he's more than happy with; ruling is overwhelming, and his wife is awesome.)
✨ His full title is His Royal Highness Sir Mario Marionetti the Honorary Second, King Consort of the Mushroom Kingdom. The "Honorary Second" part was supposed to be a joke; Mario, bewildered at how unnecessarily long the original title felt, snarked that they could make it longer by acknowledging him as the "honorary second" Mario in his family (as Mario was his father's nickname, though it was in reference to his last name rather than his first). Unfortunately for him, the Toad recording the meeting didn't quite grasp the sarcasm, and it stuck.
✨ Even after becoming king, he heavily prefers blue-collar work to sitting in committees and meetings and doing paperwork and all that fun royal stuff. More often than not, he's either assisting with practical tasks around the castle or is in town helping people fix plumbing and repair roofs and such.

I am curious, which Mario games have your favourite Mareach content/scenes and why, please? :D
Good question! ^-^ Let's see...
- World will always have a very special place in my heart because it was the first Mario game I've ever played when I was a kid. It was also the first one to feature a kiss, and the way Mario blushes is adorable. 🥰 Truly a classic!
- Galaxy, because omg of course. The game opening up with a letter from the Princess inviting Mario to meet her later that evening at the Star Festival and him dashing happily towards the castle in response was already cute and romantic enough, but the game also includes one of my favorite rescues in the whole franchise and has quite a magical feel to it. A real masterpiece. 💘💫
- 3D Land, which probably has my favorite ending credits of all. Any instance where Mario gets to carry Peach bridal style is a big weakness of mine, and seeing him safely bringing her all the way back to the castle in his Tanooki suit is simply delightful. 🤗
- 64's ending is also among my big faves for the way Mario politely takes off his cap before her (a detail that was kept later in some of the remastered DS games, with an added flourish and bow that made the scene even sweeter 🥺).
- In both the New Super Mario Wii and Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, there is a brief moment where Mario offers Peach his arm for her to take, like the good gentleman he is, and it makes my heart melt everytime. 😭 He has such lovely manners there! 💖
- And last but certainly not least, pretty much all and every scenes the two of them share together in Luigi's Mansion 3. This game was great in showing us a bit more of the characters' chemistry with one another through more diverse interactions, and I especially adore the whole intro. ☺️
I've been told there were also apparently quite a few memorable moments in the Paper Mario games, to name only those, but here I've mostly enumerated the ones I'm more familiar with. :3 Enjoy! 😁

Princess Toadstool teaches her short boyfriend to commit arson.
Amidst a rather boring day, I ended up staring off into space a LOT. In doing so, I got to thinking about if Super Mario had a consistent, overarching storyline like The Legend of Zelda or other popular franchises. I've thought about this briefly before, but a lot of the ideas surrounding such got much for fleshed out in my boredom today! Of course, there's nothing wrong with Super Mario being the episodic cartoon of video games. I just like to think. "What if?"
The idea would be mostly around the very first game, elements chosen from others (like Sunshine or Odyssey), as well as personal headcanons of mine! This applies to both characterization and world-building. Princess Peach Toadstool's design here is one I made by combining her older designs with her current one, as well as changing the shape of her gown and gloves to match the patterns of the toads. I also wanted to give her that magical princess vibe the manual of the original game seems to give her. As for Mario, I like the idea of him being from a much more normal world. Perhaps a version of New Donk City? Who knows! Either way, I would love to see more character like we get from spinoffs like the Strikers games, and I'll definitely take the opportunity to do that!
I have a lot of cute ideas for mini comics and art to make based upon what I have so far, so I'll elaborate more in future posts. I'm thinking about calling it Super Mario: Leveled Up. This could be subject to change, though.
I might try Luigi (a personal favorite) next. Or maybe the toads? I've had a lot of thoughts on mini comics of just the toads interacting with the newcomer to their kingdom.
Reblogging is fine, but please don't post this anywhere else without linking the original post. Thanks!

Wow, I haven't really followed the paper mario fandom, although I loved the games. But that sounds really bad. If it's not too personal, what sort of things happened? (if it is i totally understand if you'd rather not talk about it)
Wheeew! Let me tell you a sad story. At least what I experienced from my perspective.
So, I first got into the Paper Mario fandom not long before Super Paper Mario's release. This was back on deviantArt, mostly. I adored the first two games, and when I heard about SPM, I was skeptical at first. It was more like a platformer? Why was the art style so strange? ...But when it came out, it ended up being my favorite! I knew that as soon as I finished it.
Of course, not everyone felt that way, and there were already people who didn't like SPM because of how different it was, or the story didn't resonate with them. But to be honest, I didn't interact with those people very much. I was mostly friends with other SPM fans, and at the time, if they liked that game they probably had played and liked the first two as well, or at least one. It was a happy time as far as I was concerned. Most people, even if they didn't like SPM, seemed to think it was just going to be some kind of weird spinoff and they'd get back to the traditional gameplay soon enough.
....And then years later, Sticker Star came out and its complete blankness of story and personality hit us all like a speeding truck. This is when things fell apart pretty quickly. Pretty much EVERYONE in the existing PM fandom hated it, for good reason in my opinion. This is also where I became more sharply aware that certain people had a resentment towards SPM, since it was either seen as the "beginning of the end" as far as the gameplay starting to go off the rails, OR people outright blamed the story for being too out-there and emotionally charged which caused Nintendo to put the brakes on all that and go in the complete opposite direction (which was backed up by dev comments that came out around the time).
So from here on out I started to feel more and more like a weirdo for maintaining that SPM was my favorite, and a game that means a great deal to me personally. But after Sticker Star, the PM fandom just became an irreparably damaged and bitter place. Initially, the blame was put on Miyamoto because the understanding at first was that he had mandated the PM series 1) put less emphasis on story and 2) no longer be a typical RPG, really, since the Mario & Luigi series also existed to fill that niche. There were a lot of ageist comments made about Miyamoto in particular. Over time, as more info came out, the blame largely shifted to Kensuke Tanabe.
Things only got worse when Color Splash was announced and it looked like more of the same. People said the worst things about the devs, especially the people in charge, and looked for any reason to hate the new game and wish for it to fail. Even though Sticker Star and the soon-to-be-released Color Splash didn't have many defenders of their own, a lot of the larger Mario/Nintendo fanbase began to grow tired of old-school Paper Mario fans, as they... we... started to develop a bad reputation. And with good reason! Looking back, the complaints were understandable but the behavior was often unacceptable. And you know what? I got caught up in it too. I'm not gonna pretend I was above it all. Those were easily my worst days as a fan of anything. I didn't go out of my way to be vocal or mean about it in Nintendo's replies or anything, but whenever I did bring it up personally or on my own stream or discord or whatever, I was bitter. In the past few years I've sometimes come across old comments I made that I'd cringe at now. You might think of me as someone who is largely positive and tries to focus on spreading joy and dwelling on what I love, not what I hate. But the PM fandom at that time was bad for me. Between the Sticker Star and Color Splash days, I was definitely not the kind of person I try to be now.
When Color Splash came out, I didn't even play it for a couple years. But in that time, I largely stepped away from keeping up with the fandom, and I mellowed out a lot, and continued to grow into the person I strive to be today. And then when I finally did play Color Splash in 2018..... I liked it!!! The writing, the scenarios, the general creativity and even the gameplay are just SO FAR above Sticker Star and I think most people didn't even give it a chance, and because so few people own a Wii U, it might be forever doomed for people to just assume it's a slightly better Sticker Star unless Nintendo ever ports it.
And by the time Origami King came out, I was soooo done talking about the series and debating it. I had just totally burnt out. But I was at least tentatively looking forward to the game itself. And whlie I don't love every choice made for Origami King, I liked the experience as much as Color Splash, if not more. It's a nonstop interesting game with utterly fantastic graphics and music, and further steps back in the right direction as far as characters and lore go.
And that brings us to today. There are people, sometimes people that I myself have known for years, who NEVER stepped away, who never stopped acutely feeling the pain of the Sticker Star days, and wage a campaign of complaining to Nintendo to this very day. Meanwhile, Origami King (and to a smaller extent CS and even SS- what I'd call the Real Paper Trilogy) has a sizeable fanbase of its own, especially among younger players. Oldschool PM fans tend to see fans of the newer games as simpletons who have no taste, and fans of the new games often write off people who miss the old style of PM as boomers who can't accept change and are forever bitter and annoying. And then SPM fans just kinda feel like our own thing sometimes, the black sheep of the family. But as someone who likes (almost) all the PM games, I've had people be rude to me just for talking about any side of the issue. One time I was talking about how much I liked Profesor Toad from Origami King only to have some stranger, unprompted, reply to me about how ALL OF TOK'S CHARACTERS WERE SHIT AND THEY ALL SUCKED AND HAD NO PERSONALITY and I'm like no??!!?!? That's not true!!! That's not true AT ALL! I didn't stream TOK when it came out, I wouldn't fucking dare, because when I did play Color Splash for the first time it was on stream and I had to deal with at least one person coming in and being like "why are you playing a terrible game?" despite my repeated warnings that I didn't want to get into a debate on the game's merits. And on the other side of things, I've seen people come up with the most specious arguments to claim that TTYD is actually a Bad Game because it has some backtracking or whatever and that PM as a series was never actually good. There's just... so so many frustrating things I've encountered in the fandom that I'd have to double the size of this answer, which is already a novella, to enumerate them all.
But yeah. I kinda want nothing to do with it anymore. I'm just going to keep appreciating Flavio in my own time.

Super Mario Bros Movie Talk Part 1: Mario
I finally have the time to talk about the movie. As of right now, the plan is to break it up and talk about certain sections of the movie. I may come back and edit these posts here and there, but these posts will mostly consist of what comes to mind at the moment.
With that said, what better way than to start this endeavor than to talk about the main man himself?
Tumblr media
The movie did a great job with Mario. In the games, Mario is this mostly upbeat character without a lot of depth. He doesn't get to have any lengthy dialogue and only says a few albeit iconic catch phrases here and there. In the movie, however, he is a determined, brave, and adventurous guy who has a huge chip on his shoulder and wants to prove himself. However, he is made to be small both literally and figuratively as not only is his height the subject of jokes, he isn't taken seriously by everyone around him including his own family.
Having said that, Mario does have his flaws. His main one is his impulsive nature. Although his heart is in the right place, he is so eager to go out and do something that he doesn't think of any potential consequences that may come from his actions. The main one that comes to mind is when he dragged Luigi into the Brooklyn sewers to try to fix the water leak that flooded the streets, resulting in both of them being sucked into a pipe that led Mario to the Mushroom Kingdom and Luigi to the Dark Lands. Him having such flaws make him more relatable rather than him being immediately being great at everything. Despite saving the day at the end, there is this feeling he still has things he needs to improve on.
The last thing I'll talk about is Chris Pratt. There was a lot of skepticism about him when he was announced as the voice for Mario, and the first trailer did very little to ease any of it. Admittedly, I was disappointed Charles Martinet wasn't going to voice Mario, although I was happy he got to take part in the movie. With that said, I wanted to see the movie first before basing my thoughts on Chris Pratt's performance, and I have to say he did Mario justice. That's not to say he was perfect, but he did enough to make Mario believable. Most important, he wasn't awful enough to make me long for Martinet. Pratt has made a living playing or voicing the everyman character roles, and who in the video game industry depicts this more than our favorite Italian plumber?
In the end, one of the main things the movie got right was the portrayal of Mario. Seeing that he's the main protagonist, it would have been a disappointment had he not been rootable. Should there be any sequels, I would be interested to see what they do with him from here.

SMG4 FRIENDSHIPS THAT I FEEL LIKE WOULD BE VERY REAL AND ALSO IF YOU DISAGREE WITH ME I KILL YOU
FightingMario54321 and Meggy- they were both cops and have penchant for fighting, what more do i have to say? they set up play dates between Loaf and Cube
Luigi and SMG0- they both are so chill, and they’d probably discuss gardening and their favorite teas and have little tea parties and talk abt how chaotic Mario and Fred are
Niles and Kaizo- both have felt betrayed by someone they care about, and they’re both the bad boy trope fr fr, would listen to rob zombie together
Mario, Fred, and Spudnick- they are all super chaotic and love running around and causing problems on purpose, they’re not allowed to hang out a lot since they destroy so much when they’re together, but once a year the guardians allow a play date
Tari and EpicYoshiFan- i’ve always thought EYF was bit quieter and shyer than the other recolors, so i think he and Tari would get long great, talking about music and video games and staying up way too late doing things
XboxGamer997 and Melony- they both have this sort of main character energy with X’s omen sense and Melony’s fierce deity side, i also think X gets pretty tired frequently so they’ll just have lil sleepovers :3
Ruffman8890 and Boopkins- they’re both very high energy, and RM would love to watch anime with Boopkins because i said so fuck you
Karen, Toad, and Peach- tired of Mario’s shit and definitely need a break, they go drinking together sometimes
Jeeves and Toadsworth- weird old men gang! i am specifically thinking abt the 2018 video where Jeeves and Toadsworth were hanging out, they definitely would discuss like the weather and what the princess has been up to and how the milk is selling fr fr
Shroomy and Swag- once again, i am referencing a Christmas special, the 2021 one to be exact, they love going demon hunting on the weekends and blowing things up
Whimpu and Tari- they both like doing quieter activities and nerdy shit, so they’d definitely play pokémon together, Whimpu is a nuzlock GOD
Enzo and The Villager- they both recovered after the christmas crazies episode (a lot of christmas episodes, you can tell they’re some of my favorites) and now The Villager directs a children’s TV show (seen in the 10 year anniversary movie) and Enzo runs a birthday supplies store in bloopersville (source: my brain) and they have the same parole officer, and no one really understands what they’ve been through so they’re pretty tight
SMG3, Xboxfan996, and OiramOiram12345- evil dopple gang! they’ve mostly mellowed out tho, and 96 and OO live in bloopersville but come by the internet graveyard sometimes to get a coffee and talk about what’s new with them
SMG4, SLG4, and Minion- THEY ARE A FAMILY YOUR HONOR AND YOU CAN RIP THIS FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS! Minion and SLG4 live in bloopersville, and since they’re all sorta related to SMG4, they’re like “yeah we’re family lol” so SMG4 sometimes shows up at bloopersville for their birthdays
Desti and Saiko- they would have been BESTIES you can’t change my mind, Desti would totally go to Saiko for help with asking out Meggy
MCGustavo and Bob- i can’t explain this but just trust me they’d be best friends they’d smoke together lol
Chris and Belle- they both want to smack the shit out of their former bosses (Sergeant Mark and SMG3, respectively), they both get a little tired of the chaos and just wanna talk to someone who’s also tired of it for once
Jub Jub, Frankie, and the Weegee doll- they play roblox together :D
Mario and Ruffman8890- they are both so chaotic and love running around and pissing off Toad lmaooo
Waluigi and Tari- after the whole T-pose virus thing, they both see each other at a rubber duck store and hit it off immediately, they love hanging out and playing with their ducks
those are all the ones i can think of rn but this is so real and you will agree with me now

Soooooo the Mario movie was awesome! Definitely the best movie-going experience I've had since Spiderman No Way Home! Illumination really outdid themselves and I think that this has to be the best movie they've done, even more so than the first two Despicable Me movies and Sing! And I can tell they and Nintendo put so much effort into this and making it a giant fan to Mario fans everywhere, from the kids to those who have been there from the beginning. It wasn't perfect (I mean, what movie is, and is there really such a thing as perfection?) but it was still a lot of fun!!!!
Below is what I loved about the movie and what I felt could have been better! Just a heads-up, there ARE spoilers. Even though it has pretty much the typical storyline of most Mario games and is therefore somewhat predictable, I don't want those who haven't seen it yet to miss out on being blown away as I was about it.
*********************************************************************
The Ups:
MARIO. HE IS THE BIGGEST SWEETHEART. HE LOVES HIS BROTHER SO SO MUCH. HE WOULD FETCH A STAR FROM SPACE FOR HIS BROTHER IF HE COULD. I WOULD DIE FOR HIM AND THE LOVE HE HAS FOR HIS BABY BRO. And from the beginning, he's so determined and motivated and never gives up! And it's his brother that motivates him to do most of what he does! I also liked the little details they added to his character that we never got to see before, such as the fact that he initially hates mushrooms.
Peach was amazing! At first I thought that they girlbossed her a bit too much to the point where she was a carbon copy of Daisy, but now I see her as a kind, maternal, and feminine young woman who fights when she needs to and is just doing her job protecting her kingdom. I hate how people are bashing her characterization here, like, have they forgotten how she was in the DIC cartoons, the 1986 anime, and SUPER PRINCESS PEACH? I also like her backstory and she's so cute as a baby! Also, since I HC that she and Daisy are super close, maybe she learned a thing or two from her!
Toad was so silly and chaotic, and he stole every scene he was in!
Luigi was precious and Charlie Day was perfect for his voice, as I predicted! I can tell that he was totally channeling Tony Rosato at times. I loved so many of his moments on screen, especially when he protects his brother during the final battle!
Jack Black KILLED IT as Bowser! He made him a villain who's hilarious but intimidating and ferocious at the same time and not many people can pull that off effectively!
Donkey Kong was a bit annoying and Illumination-y but they did a good job with him here. Also HE DID THE SETH ROGEN LAUGH TWICE FACK YES
The voice cast in general was fantastic! Charlie Day, Kevin Michael Richardson, and Jack Black were literal perfection in particular, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong was lit, and Keegan Michael Key was great for Toad, as I predicted! He's a very versatile comedian and voice actor, after all! Also, Chris Pratt's Mario has grown on me in a good way. Although I vastly prefer Charles Martinet, as well as Lou Albano (who has my favorite Mario voice ever), Chris really didn't do that bad of a job! He DID TOO put effort into voicing him, and his "Wahoo!"s and cries of delight and triumph were on point! The only voice that I still feel like I have to get used to is Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach. She's a talented actress but I don't think she entirely suited Peach's soft, feminine, and maternal nature, but that's just me.
Mario and Luigi's parents are so precious! In fact, their whole family is so cute and hilarious! They remind me of my own proudly Italian (mostly) family. And Charles Martinet voicing their dad was the icing on the cake! I'm just so glad we finally got to see their family in general.
I also like how the boys' situation of still living with their parents, (presumably) not pursuing college and working blue-collar jobs while in their 20s-30s wasn't portrayed in a negative way. It's a great way of telling audiences that it's okay if you haven't gone off on your own yet in adulthood or attended college, that life isn't a sequence of steps that everyone has to follow exactly and at the same time, and that patience, hard work, and a positive attitude will lead you to great opportunities in life when you least expect them, like with what happened to the bros.
THE BROS' REUNION HUG OH MY GOD!!!!!! THE FOREHEAD TOUCH AND MARIO LIFTING LUIGI OFF THE GROUND DURING THEIR SECOND EMBRACE, I ALMOST CHOKED ON MY ICEE AND BECAME A SOBBING MESS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE THEATER MY GOD
And then them teaming up together to defeat Bowser and his forces, AS IT SHOULD BE.
I mean seriously this movie was a slap to the face of everyone who thought Mario hates his brother
Mario and Luigi getting their own little house in the Mushroom Kingdom! AND COFFEE CUPS THAT MATCH THEIR HATS!!!!
Mario and Peach's relationship thus far! I love how close they are by the end of the movie, even though they haven't developed a romance yet, and how Mario was telling her all about Brooklyn and how he'll get her a pet turtle once he gets to take her there. D'awwwwwww.
Peach completing the trainer course ALL WHILE WEARING A FULL LENGTH BALL GOWN AND HEELS. AND her admitting that she didn't master doing it until she had tried multiple, multiple times was such a great addition to character, proof that while she may be more of a girlboss here she still has more character development than Rey in the Star Wars sequels.
Peach telling Luigi that he's brave was so sweet :3 Even though they didn't really have a proper meeting scene like I hoped, I'm glad they got to at least interact a little.
Although I wish they would have used the wedding dress from Odyssey or even Paper Mario, Peach's wedding dress here is so pretty!
Donkey Kong becoming an ally of Mario and them helping each other get to the Mushroom Kingdom was super nice, although I do feel their friendship could have been built on a little more and that DK should have apologized to Mario for insulting his brother.
THE MUSIC!!!!! Brian Tyler NAILED the orchestrations of all those iconic themes! I especially got so happy when I heard the SNES Rainbow Road theme, the DK rap, and Toad's House from SMB3! I can only imagine how Koji Kondo, the man who composed so many of these melodies for chiptune almost 40 years ago and is STILL composing music for the games, is feeling now that they have these epic, sweeping orchestral renditions.
They outdid themselves with the animation and visuals as well! ESPECIALLY the visuals. They're so colorful and whimsical and just scenery p0rn all around, from the Mushroom Kingdom giving off major Alice in Wonderland vibes and Bowser's incredible floating lava castle to the Jungle Kingdom and the rainbow road! And I can't think of a single character (re)design that I didn't like! They all look so good!
The slo mo bits were SO funny. Especially "MMMMMAAAAAAAAMMMAAAAA MMMMIIIIIIIAAAAAA!" and "PPPPPRRRRRIIIIIIINNNNNCCCCEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!"
Bringing back such an obscure and relatively forgotten character as Foreman Spike was awesome!
Every time that Diddy Kong was onscreen was so funny!
ALL THE EASTER EGGS, GOOD GOLLY. From the references to the SUPER SHOW OF ALL THINGS to the guy who's supposed to resemble Jumpman (Mario's first incarnation) at the beginning!
That one bit where Mario is sitting in his room playing a video game also felt really reminiscent of the beginning of The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach (1986). If Nintendo was going for that I'm so glad they acknowledged such an obscure piece of Mario media!
The Downs:
Goddammit, you SERIOUSLY had to include minions in the Illumination logo.
It honestly felt a bit rushed in places and I wish more scenes could have had more time devoted to them. Some characters, ESPECIALLY Luigi, didn't really get as much screen time as I felt they needed, and that kind of sucked.
I was really hoping for Bowser to have a hard rock-style villain song, as that really suits his aesthetic and Jack Black could totally have done it! I mean he was in School of Rock for crying out loud and he's proven afterwards that he can really belt out classic rock tunes! Despite that, I'm glad he got to at least sing in the movie, and his song dedicated to Peach was hilarious.
I'm bummed that the movie wasn't really a musical as I had heard around the net so many times; only two characters sang (Bowser and Toad, even though the latter's wasn't really an actual song) and there were a bunch of pop/rock hits from the past few decades sandwiched in. They were still good songs that I like though, such as Thunderstruck, Take on Me, and Holding Out for a Hero (although I wish it could have been the original Bonnie Tyler version). I was ESPECIALLY pumped to hear Mr. Blue Sky!! But still, a lack of songs sung by characters bummed me out.
I don't like how some lines were changed (such as Bowser's "NOW WHO'S GONNA STOP ME?!?!") or cut entirely (e.g. Mario's "I'm not afraid! I'll do anything for my brother!") I'm especially bitter about the latter, since hearing that line in the final trailer made me super emotional and cutting it meant less devotion to how much Mario loves and misses his brother.
It was kind of a wasted opportunity to not see Mario and Luigi's family (and the rest of Brooklyn for that matter) bewildered over their sons bringing back a princess in a wedding gown, a little mushroom man, and an ape wearing a necktie. I bet their dad would have been wondering what someone put in his coffee, and their mom would have taken one look at Peach and been all like, "OMG IS ONE OF MY SONS GETTING MARRIED ALREADY??" It just would have been nice for them to interact a little.
The blue star/Luma was honestly so annoying and gave me an unsettling identity crisis, I just thought that was not fitting for a family friendly movie. Also, why was he/she in Bowser's dungeon in the first place?
As Donkey Kong should have apologized to Mario for fighting with him, Spike should have apologized to Mario and Luigi for doubting them. It didn't really make sense for him to just abruptly cheering for them.
Part of me kind of wishes it had taken place in the 1980s. It kind of makes sense, given that the Mario and Luigi characters formally debuted in 1983 and this is an origin story for how they came to be.
But despite all this, there were way more ups than downs, and the "downs" are just little nitpicks from me that don't take away from the movie being one hell of a ride. It was fantastic, and definitely one of the best animated movies I've seen in a while. 9/10 from me!!.
Some of my several VERY high hopes for the sequel:
YOSHI CUTENESS!!!
Also, if I have to predict a voice actor for Yoshi, it would have to be either Frank Welker or Kazumi Totaka reprising his role.
Luigi getting more screen time and also getting to share in his bro's adventures! Dude deserves way better!
Mario having second thoughts about Luigi accompanying him in dangerous situations because he's terrified of losing him again, and Luigi reminding him that "nothing will harm them as long as they're together"
PLEASE just more brotherly love!
Mario and Peach developing a romance and vowing to protect each other!
At least one callback to the "Mama Luigi" episode of the Super Mario World cartoon series. I mean, it would only seem right now that Yoshi is joining the gang, right?
Heck, I bet it's going to be chock full of references to the Super Mario World game, the Yoshi's Island games, and the Super Mario World cartoon.
DAISY AND/OR ROSALINA PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Bowser's backstory (and possibly redemption)! It's clear to me that he's just a big softie that needs love and friendship in his life. And, since he's really their friend who likes to engage in role play just for fun according to word of mouth, I wonder how they will incorporate that into the Mario Cinematic Universe.
Some evidence that Mario and Luigi alternating between their lives in Brooklyn (probably just so that they can spend time with their family) and the Mushroom Kingdom
"I HOPE SHE MADE LOTSA SPAGHETTI!"

Note
can i request yandere luigi to go with ur yandere mario concept?
Yeah, awhile ago I had a draft for it then I didn't feel like doing Nintendo- Let me give my favorite Mario bro what he deserves.
Yandere! Luigi Concept
Pairing: Romantic
Possible Trigger Warnings: Gender-Neutral Darling, Obsession, Clingy behavior, Worship Yandere, Manipulation, Deception, Self esteem issues, Fear of abandonment, Forced relationship, Sabotage, Protective behavior, Delusional behavior, Stalking implied.
Tumblr media
- Most of the time Luigi is very timid, emotional, and cares what people think of him.
- He's used to always being number two, staying in Mario's shadow most of the time.
- Mario gets all the attention.
- While Luigi has been getting more popularity recently, he is still pretty overlooked.
- A fear of his is that, because he's the least popular brother, he may never earn your affections.
- Which causes Luigi to be anxious and self conscious.
- Luigi would also be somewhat of a worship Yandere, treating you like the best thing since sliced bread.
- He goes on and on about you to his brother, which Mario may either be happy for him or annoyed.
- He'd also be sort of clingy towards you once he finds he loves you.
- Luigi would be Obsessive, Manipulative, Overprotective, Self conscious, Worshipping, Deceptive, and Childish.
- Luigi seems like the type to fixate heavily on a crush of his when he meets you.
- He's full on head-over-heels towards you, swooning and daydreaming childishly.
- It's cute for awhile, but it can get creepy or annoying if he makes it a big deal.
- Would definitely be the one most likely to practice love letters out of both the brothers.
- He pours his heart into them in hopes he can someday have the courage to give them to you.
- He has to be careful Polterpup doesn't find out about them, that pup may expose him.
- His letters are a way he vents his obsession, another way is writing in a diary all about you.
- It helps him not reveal his feelings too early.
- He'd die if you found out too soon.
- Luigi's manipulative like his brother, yet he doesn't do it as much.
- He's mostly the type to guilt trip you rather than plan elaborately.
- Totally the type to do puppy-eyes at you to spend time with him.
- How could you say no to him?
- Luigi would also attempt to be overprotective.
- He's a coward but he can be brave when he feels he has to protect those he loves.
- He may also like you because you give him bravery at times.
- He feels if he's to be perfect for you he needs to prove he can protect you.
- So while he may have trouble hitting overprotective at points, he's certainly at least protective.
- Luigi's incredibly self conscious due to always being overlooked.
- He may rely on you to help him feel like he's wanted.
- Which makes him a worship Yandere, as he feels you can't leave him if he piles on the affection.
- He's unaware of the fact he may come off as suffocating.
- He's too focused in hugs, praises, and soft kisses to notice.
- You may as well put him down as delusional, too.
- He doesn't see his own red flags and why you may not like him as much as he does you.
- It's like he blocks out anything that would go against his fantasy.
- He thinks the relationship between you is all sunshine and rainbows!
- When in reality, it's much darker than that.
- Polterpup probably feeds into your compliance with Luigi's affection.
- The ghost is incredibly loyal to his owner.
- If you resist Luigi's attempt at hugging you for example, you're given a growl or bark.
- Luigi just wants to make you happy!
- Why resist him?
- It's said on the wiki that Luigi lied in some of the games, mostly the RPGs, so Luigi may be more deceptive than you think.
- He seems like the person to play the victim card as he cries easily.
- May even explain the situation to Mario for help, leaving things out to set you up as the bad guy.
- Luigi is also very childish in his obsession.
- He treats it like a crush a young child would have for the most part, rather naive to it all.
- He also cries and gets jealous easily.
- Which makes you have to console him with the affection he desires....
- Luigi would be a domestic Yandere, too.
- He'd want to be part of a family with you.
- He thinks the whole fantasy of living with you is dreamy.
- Luigi doesn't seem like the type for fatal violence, but he'd sabotage.
- He'd make people around you look bad or get hurt to keep your heart for himself.
- He also doesn't seem like the type to kidnap.
- He prefers to just hover around you for attention.
- Overall, Luigi is timid and obsessive over you.
- That doesn't mean his obsession is innocent, however.

Now that off the rails is out, here’s some racing headcanons for the Trustfall crew:
Let’s start with Tails this time!
Drives: ATV (technically), the Whirlwind Tornado (mashup of S&SASR Unleashed and TSR)
Favorite course: Tick Tock Clock (DS)
Race style: Will hang out in second or third place for the majority of the race, and then start making a play for first about halfway through the second lap.
Fun facts: I wanted his kart to be special, since he’s owned several different ones over the course of his career. Hence, he gets a mashup kart, and single-handedly gets to change the rules of the whole game. (You go, fox boy)
Peach:
Drives: Bike. Likes the Mach Bike (Wii), or the Sports Bike (MK8). If she must use a kart, it’s the Light Tripper (DS)
Favorite course: Sweet Sweet Canyon (MK8)
Race style: Gets to the front of the pack as quickly as possible and then uses items for defense.
Fun facts: Peach is really good in Beyond because I main Peach in Mario Kart, and have since I was a little kid. I could never play competitively, but I am pretty good! (HMU if y’all ever wanna play 8 Deluxe together!)
Mario:
Drives: Kart. Mostly uses the B-Dasher (DS) or the Standard (MK8). Shooting Star (DS) if he’s feeling fancy.
Favorite course: Moonview Highway (Wii)
Race style: Rarely ever wins, but super competitive regardless. Averages about 4th or 5th place every race.
Fun facts: This guy never wins when I play a Mario Kart game, which is why he sucks at it in Beyond. (Is it because I main Peach? The rivalry system or whatever???)
Sonic:
Drives: Kart. The Speedstar (S&SASR).
Favorite course: Cloudtop Cruise (MK8)
Race style: Drifts often, but can’t get the purple boost very often.
Fun facts: I always saw the S&SASR playstyle as being very fluid, compared to Mario Kart? Which is why Sonic drifts around a lot in his kart. (My brother and I both main Aiai in that game, i secondary main Amy.)
Luigi:
Drives: Bike. Favors either the Standard, the Comet, or the Jet Bike (all MK8)
Favorite course: Daisy Circuit (Wii)
Race style: Same as Tails, actually! (Kid had to learn from somewhere)
Fun facts: Also a top champion in Beyond because of my real life—he was my dad’s main for the longest time. Since my dad got me into gaming and taught me everything I know, I figure it’s fitting
Daisy:
Drives: ATV. Favors the Wild Wiggler (MK8)
Favorite course: Kalimari Desert (64)
Race style: Off Road Queen. Will hang out at the back of the pack just to farm mushrooms and go off the track when she can
Fun facts: She’s not usually that bad, but she got annihilated during Beyond’s exhibition races because she missed the memo that it was Rainbow Road Only. Off road skills will only do you so much good on those courses.
Yoshi:
Drives: Bike. Either the Yoshi Bike (MK8) or the Dolphin Dasher (Wii)
Favorite course: Not to be too on the nose here, but it’s Yoshi’s Island (MK8)
Race style: Just here to vibe
Fun facts: Generally the crowd favorite for how cute and easygoing he is. Isn’t terribly competitive at the game, but does alright.
Knuckles:
Drives: ATV, the Land Breaker (TSR)
Favorite course: Dino Dino Jungle (MKDD)
Race style: If road rage was a person, it would be Knuckles. Plays very aggressively. (Not quite prepared to take hits, though.)
Fun facts: I like to think he single-handedly brought back the “punch to steal items” mechanic from Mario Kart: Double Dash. That was fun. (Why isn’t that in more Mario Kart games?) He is, needless to say, very good at the battle modes.
