the amazing showstopping life-changing beautiful lovely and talented @alcego tagged me in the writing game where you post all your first sentences from already posted fics (and also the just as amazing showstopping life changing beautiful lovely AND talented roisin, thank you!) but i don't really care much for those lately so here's the first lines of several WIPs at the moment as a compromise :)

(I'm going to be completely honest, I'm working of off 5 incomplete scenes if I just do BG3, so I'm also going to throw in some By Any Other Name quotes. It's technically the same character from a different story. The backstories vary a little but I'm confident the character is still there. By Any Other Name quotes are marked with an asterisk * at the end)

My first time playing Xenoblade 2 I thought the game was… problematic, I’ll put it that way. It’s a deeply flawed game and it’s flawed in ways that you can only really get past with either extreme levels of benefit of the doubt (for the extremely weak beginning of the story, bad voice acting and cringy dialogue, questionable character designs, that kinda stuff) or outside help from the community (everything gameplay related. Playing this game the “right way” is very hard to do with how badly the game explains itself). This led to me playing it the first time and wondering what the hell went wrong after Xenoblade 1 was so good.

Then I played Torna: The Golden Country and really enjoyed it. Then I started seeing guides on the internet about how to make the gameplay easier and more fun. Then I replayed the base game eventually and I began to absolutely adore it. Being able to avoid the gameplay pitfalls (especially toward the beginning) and dig into the story and characters more thanks to the context of the late game story + Torna really helped the game for me, and now it’s one of my favorite games. But also getting to that point took an abnormal amount of dedication that most people probably won’t have for a game this obviously flawed.

it's been a surreal experience to watch my number neuroticisms change in real time honestly. i used to LOVE even numbers they felt so kind to me and now most of them just feel incomplete to me... now i am all about odd numbers forever and ever. except for 8 that one is still good. we should have kept the base 16 system
