Chapter 18: You're Drunk
You sat alone on the deck of the Sunny, bathed in the soft glow of moonlight as you sifted through page after page of research. The weight of the knowledge pressed heavily upon you, each word a reminder of the darkness your abilities could conjure.
Chopper had been revolted when he’d looked at it moments before. You now understood why. The blatant disrespect for human life was baffling, disgusting.
Your fingers traced the jagged edge of the black-bladed dagger resting beside you, its presence a tangible symbol of the atrocities the marines had brought into the world. With a heavy sigh, you lifted your glass to your lips, draining the last remnants of the amber liquid within.
You closed your eyes as you attempted to process the horrors contained within the documents, the pain, the suffering. The silence of the night enveloped you, broken only by the gentle lapping of waves against the ship's hull.
“Everything alright?” Sanji's voice cut through the stillness, concern evident in his face as he approached, wisps of smoke curling from his lips into the nocturne air.
You glanced up, meeting his gaze. You watched as white tendrils contrasted with the darkness of the twilight sky, enticed by the alluring sight of the swirling smoke. "Does it help?" you asked, a hint of curiosity in your tone, gesturing towards the cigarette dangling from his fingers.
Confusion flickered across Sanji's features at your unexpected question. "What?" he replied, caught off guard by your inquiry.
"Smoking," you clarified, reaching out tentatively for the cigarette.
Sanji hesitated for a moment, his expression reflecting a mix of surprise and uncertainty, before wordlessly offering you the cigarette. As you took a cautious drag, the acrid smoke filled your lungs, an unfamiliar burning causing you to cough and sputter violently.
Sanji couldn't suppress a laugh at your reaction, the sound echoing softly in the night as he watched you with amusement, a flicker of warmth in his eyes amidst the darkness.
“Oh gods” you rasped between coughs. “This is foul.”
You laughed along with the chef.
"Maybe smoking isn't my thing," you admitted with a wry smile, handing the cigarette back to Sanji.
He chuckled, shaking his head. "It's not for everyone," he replied, tucking it back between his lips and taking a long drag.
Leaning back against your chair, you let out an exhale, the weight of the research still heavy on your mind. "Thanks for checking in," you said, genuine gratitude in your voice as you turned to Sanji. “This is terrifying,” you admitted. “But I’m alright.”
Your eyes scanned the deck habitually in search of the swordsman unsuccessfully.
“He’s up there,” Sanji pointed at the crow’s nest.
You couldn’t help the little huh of confusion that crossed your lips nor the blush that settled on your ears at the chef’s amused smile.
“We got another one?” You gestured at the half-empty bottle on the table.
He grinned at your request. “Anything for you mademoiselle,” he cooed.
Tumblr media
You shambled up the ladder to the crow’s nest clumsily, stumbling through the trap door.
“I come bearing gifts,” you announced after an annoyed scoff graced your ears.
As you stuttered into the makeshift gym, you couldn't help but feel a rush of embarrassment at your less-than-graceful entrance. Zoro's amused grin only added to your flustered state, and you couldn't resist shooting him a playful glare as you regained your composure.
"Yeah, yeah, laugh it up," you muttered, rolling your eyes as you approached him.
Zoro's grin only widened at your antics, but there was a warmth in his gaze that eased the tension in your shoulders. Despite the chaos and uncertainty surrounding you, there was a sense of familiarity and camaraderie in this moment, a reminder that you were not alone.
You reached into the bag slung over your back, retrieving the half-empty bottle of liquor you had brought with you. With a flourish, you presented it to Zoro, a mischievous glint in your eyes.
"We got another full one too," you declared, holding out the unopened one in your other hand with a smirk.
Zoro's expression lit up at the sight, a pleased look crossing his features. "Looks like you're finally learning," he remarked, accepting the offering with a grateful nod.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction at his response, a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. “I swear you’re the worst influence on me, with all of your drinking,” you stated as you made your way over.
He scoffed at that. “More like you need to learn how to drink, without getting wasted every time,” he joked softly.
“That would take the fun out of it,” you said jovially, ignoring the jab.
You settled beside Zoro with a soft thud, your shoulders almost brushing. “Any luck with Uragiri?” You asked, eyeing the sword in front of him.
He took a long gulp out of the bottle in his hand an annoyed expression on his features. “Not yet,” he answered bitterly.
You laughed quietly. “Stumped? I can help if you beg,” you joked.
“I’m not gonna beg,” he mumbled against the glass.
You snorted. “It’s an eager little one isn’t it,” you mused anyway. “It yearns to please to a fault.”
The silence dragged on, his gaze on you, trying to grasp the meaning of your words. He chuckled. “You always talk in riddles when it comes to your swords,” he remarked with an annoyed tint to his voice.
You smiled, unable to deny the truth to what he'd just said. “Fine,” you sighed. “I’ll explain it in a way you can understand, swordsman.”
You took a slow sip seeking what you wanted to say.
“I was young when I forged it” you looked at the blade, memories playing in your eyes. “It was over a decade ago, I guess… but that’s not the point” you rambled on your hand reaching for the steel.
He didn’t urge you on, waiting patiently for your mind to make sense of your thoughts.
“What I’m trying to say is it’s the same as I was. Eager to please that is.” Your fingers danced along the edge. “Or terrified to disappoint.” You mumbled as you remembered the frequent and violent wrath of your mentor. “You need to be reassuring and kind but firm and guiding.”
You glanced at him, gaze hazy.
“It’ll match your commands then, that’s how it reverberated my haki,” you finished, an expectant look in your eyes.
As the weight of your words hung in the air, a playful smirk tugged at the corners of your lips. "Of course, you wouldn't know anything about being reassuring and kind, would you, swordsman?" you teased, your tone laced with a hint of mischief.
Zoro's eyebrows furrowed in feigned offense, but there was a glint of amusement in his eye. "Hey, I can be just that when I want to be," he retorted, his voice tinged with mock indignation.
You chuckled softly, the sound dancing between you in the quiet of the crow's nest. "Oh, I'm sure you can," you replied, your tone dripping with sarcasm. "But I wouldn't want to overwhelm you with all that tenderness."
Zoro's lips twitched into a smirk, his gaze locking with yours in a silent challenge. "Tenderness is overrated," he declared, his voice low and husky. "I prefer a more... direct approach."
A shiver ran down your spine at the suggestive timbre. You couldn't help but meet his stare with a playful glint in your eyes. "Is that so?" you countered, your own tone taking on a teasing edge.
With a boldness that shocked even yourself, you closed the distance between you, your movements slow and deliberate as you leaned in closer to him. The warmth of his breath ghosted over your skin, sending shivers down your spine as you felt the heat of his proximity.
"Careful, swordsman," you murmured, your words barely above a whisper, your lips tantalizingly close to his. "I might just take you up on that direct approach."
Zoro's breath hitched, his gaze flickering with a mixture of surprise and anticipation. His hand reached out, fingers brushing against your cheek in a gentle caress that sent heat coursing through you.
Before anything could progress further, you leaned back with a playful smile curling your lips. "Are you squirming, swordsman?" you teased, your tone laced with mischief. "I think I like that."
A low groan of annoyance escaped Zoro, though the hint of amusement in his eye betrayed his facade of irritation. You laughed at his reaction, the cheery sound echoing softly against the windows.
"You're impossible," he remarked, entertainment coloring his voice as he shook his head in mock exasperation.
You couldn't help but giggle at his response, a sharp contrast to his own low laughter.
Taking a moment to collect your thoughts, you sighed, gazing out into the twilight beyond the crow's nest. Your hand found the dagger at your side, unsheathing it and twirling it idly in your fingers, its weight a constant reminder of the darkness you faced.
With a determined exhale, you set the dagger aside, deciding it could wait. It was not something you should deliberate so carelessly. Its plea for freedom, something you wished to honor. Instead, you reached for the bottle you had brought along, the amber liquid offering a temporary reprieve from the pressure of the incessant deliberations in your mind.
“I’m glad I chose to come with you guys,” you admitted, eyes still lost in the obscureness of the exterior.
He hummed in acknowledgement.
You took another sip, your gaze drifting back to the swordsman beside you. His sharp features were highlighted by the soft glow of the moonlight, casting intriguing shadows across his face. You couldn't help but notice the way his throat bobbed as he swallowed down the contents of his own bottle, the gesture strangely captivating.
Your eyes surveyed his lips, remembering the way his breath had ghosted yours back in that storage closet. So close yet so far.
Suddenly, the words spilled out of your mouth before you could stop them, shattering the silence that hung between you. “Wanna fuck?” you blurted out, the question hovering in the air, heavy with unexpected intensity.
He choked, the abruptness of your question catching him off guard. Coughing fiercely, a crimson blush crept up his cheeks, betraying his flustered state.
Seizing the opportunity, you moved leisurely, straddling him as he struggled to regain his composure. You waited patiently, a knowing smile playing on your features as your fingers traced the sharp contours of his jaw. Your lidded eyes flicked between his gaze and his lips, anticipation simmering in the air.
“Do you wanna fuck, swordsman?” you repeated, leaning in closely once his breathing steadied, the words hanging between you like a bold challenge.
“You’re drunk,” he replied, his hand moving softly to play with the delicate skin of your nape, his fingers tangling gently in your locks.
An amused smirk tugged at the corners of your lips. “You said that last time too,” you observed with a small frown.
He closed the distance between you imperceptibly, his smile hovering at a tantalizing proximity to your lips. "I don’t fuck drunk girls," he stated, his breath intoxicatingly warm against yours.
Undeterred, your fingers grazed down along his Adam’s apple, tracing a path across his collarbone. “I may be drunk,” you began, your hand laying flat over his heart, feeling its steady rhythm beneath your palm. “But it doesn’t mean I don’t know what I want, swordsman.”
In a bold gesture, your other hand found its way to his, silently directing it along the bare skin of your outer thigh. You guided his touch lazily, leading it to the rising hem of your short skirt.
“You’re drunk,” he started to reiterate, his voice stiff with restraint as he leaned back against the wall. “And I don’t fuck drun-”
But before he could finish his sentence, you closed the gap between you, capturing his lips with yours.
A surge of electricity coursed through you, igniting a fire that had been smoldering between you for far too long. His initial resistance melted away, replaced by a hunger that matched your own, his lips moving eagerly against yours.
The taste of him was intoxicating, a heady blend of sea salt and the liquor you had shared earlier. With each kiss, the world around you faded into oblivion, leaving only the two of you locked in a moment of mutual desire.
His hand, which had hesitated at your touch, now explored with a newfound confidence, tracing the curves of your thigh beneath the denim of your skirt. His nails grazed the soft skin near your ass, the sensation sending a shiver down your spine.
You pressed yourself further into his chest, seeking more, wanting to melt into him. Your hands found their place at his nape, fingers twisting in his hair with need. The grip in your locks tightened almost painfully as he deepened the kiss, his tongue dominating yours dizzyingly.
You moaned, a wanton sound muffled between you. You felt his satisfied grin on your lips at your compliance. For a timeless moment, you were lost in each other, surrendering to raw unbridled passion. There was only the two of you, bound by a connection that transcended words and reason.
But just as suddenly as it had begun, the kiss came to an end, leaving you both breathless and reeling in its wake. Zoro's gaze, dark with desire, met yours in a quiet exchange that spoke volumes, a silent acknowledgment of the unexpressed truths that hung heavy in the air between you.
For a heartbeat, neither of you moved, the weight of the moment lingering like a tangible presence in the space between you. Then, with a reluctant sigh, Zoro pulled away slightly, his eye softening as he searched yours for any sign of regret or uncertainty.
Gently, he pushed you off, his touch tender yet firm as he rose to his feet and stepped away from you. He grabbed Uragiri from the ground before turning from you, his footsteps echoing softly against the wooden floor as he made his way toward the trapdoor of the crow's nest.
"You're drunk," he repeated, his voice a low murmur that lingered in the air, disappearing as he descended down the ladder, leaving you alone in the quiet solitude of the crow's nest.
You let yourself fall back against the windowed wall, laughing in disbelief.

trying to forget about ace and luffy’s sudden confessions, the crew trudged onward into the desert. [name] was doing his best to not even acknowledge it, humming a soothing toon to take his mind off of it.
“say, [name],” vivi gently called out, making the man jump in surprise. she chuckled weakly at his reaction, assuming that ace and luffy really had him shaken up, “you’re always humming the same song? where’d you get it from? it sounds really beautiful,”
[name] grinned, the subject making him think of other things besides ace and luffy’s stupidity.
“it’s a song i learned from…my home island,” [name] grinned.
“windmill village?”
“oh, no,” [name] said, waving his hand, “someone taught me it where i was born and i just clung to it, i guess,”
vivi’s eyebrows furrowed, “didn’t you say you were from windmill village, with luffy?”
“i grew up there, but i wasn’t from there,” [name] said, rubbing the bottom of his chin, “now that i think about it, i spent more time growing up somewhere else — but that’s irrelevant! i made the most pleasant memories on windmill village, so i say i grew up there,”
“which sea were you from then?” vivi asked.
[name] shrugged, “i’m not really the greatest in…awareness,”
“oh, we know,” nami and sanji said in a monotone voice, the navigator physically shivering in fear as she thought of [name] not even properly navigating the seas before his time on their ship. and that was for 3 whole years! she was scared of his ability to stay alive, that’s for sure.
“oh, that’s alright then,” vivi brushed off the question, not wanting to make [name] too stressed in thinking about it, “the song sounds beautiful though,” she complimented, the grin on [name]’s returning and this time staying present.
“it is, right?! i love it,” he proudly proclaimed.
the rest of the walk was pretty silent, except for [name] and chopper’s whining of heat. that was a constant noise. zoro had hit [name] on the head to shut him up, but it only worked for about 3 minutes.
in the midst of [name]’s complaining of the heat though, vivi - who was walking in front of him, suddenly stopped when they reached the top of a slope.
“what is this ghost town?” [name] asked, looking at the princess, who was worriedly scanning over the terrain.
there was sign of a previous life having lived here, but now it was all dried out. the palm trees were drying up to the point they looked like they could be knocked over by a strong wind. the house were run down and decrepit, the stone of the walls crumbling.
“rain was always scarce, but even so, the city was able to manage by saving every last drop of rainwater it could,” vivi said, leading the group through walking into the “town.” [name] stayed close to her side, subconsciously. his eyes were carefully watching around them, as if waiting for something bad to heppen.
“but for three years now, not a single rain drop has fallen over this country,”
“three years?!”
“that long?!”
“i’d kill myself if i had to withstand this heat without any rain,” [name] said, fanning himself with his hand to cool off.
“don’t say something so insensitive!” nami shouted at him, shaking him back and forth, “since your more respectful brother is here, why don’t you try taking up after him in that sense?!”
[name] looked anything but pleased with her sentence, cringing as he turned his head away, “no, thanks,”
“but even without rain, what about the river we just crossed?” zoro asked, making the attention go back to vivi and not nami and [name]’s bickering.
“yeah, couldn’t they have just funneled the water from the river into the town?”
“the answer to that is up ahead,” vivi said in a grim tone. “but there was one city that got continuous rainfall no matter what - the city’s capital, alubarna. they called it the king’s miracle…until what happened later that day,”
vivi then explained that there was something called dance powder that was being used to artificially create rain. and with nami’s input on the topic as well, it was all beginning to make sense. whenever dance powder would be used, the rain would come down, but the country neighboring of whoever was using it would face a heavy drought.
“wait, vivi!!! that means your dad is the bad guy?!” luffy said, pointing a finger at vivi in shock. [name] was going to take care of him, knock some sense into him, but luffy was easily dealt with by sanji.
“of course, my father had nothing to do with it. but we even found sacks of the dance powder inside the palace, an obscene amount!”
[name] whistled, zoro saying exactly what he was thinking, “they even had people in the palace in on it, huh?”
“that’s terrible,” [name] said, making a tick mark of annoyance form on nami’s head.
“don’t state such obvious things!” usopp and nami cried out at the same time.
they all continued walking through the town, learning the tragedy that was befalling the kingdom. but then, there was a steady breeze going through the entire town.
[name] allowed himself to feel physically relieved at the cold breeze sweeping across the desert, but when he heard a low murmur, almost a singing voice, surround them, he became on edge.
he squinted about, trying to find or see if someone was really manually making that noise. when he looked around, turning in circles several times, he noticed that there was no one near them — it was only them.
“what if it’s baroque works?! have they been following us?!” usopp said, running to hide behind [name] and cowering at the supposed fear of someone following them.
“don’t be ridiculous, there’s no one here, guys,” he announced, trying to ease their worries, “no threat at all,”
“how are you so sure?!” [name] shrugged at nami’s question. thankfully, ace also chimed in to help support [name]’s case.
“it’s just the wind. there’s no danger,” ace said finally, “it’s just the wind blowing across the town and echoing off old buildings.”
“it’s as if…the city of erumalu is crying,” vivi said with a shaky voice, leaning into [name]’s side and ducking her head. he sighed in sympathy for her, rubbing up and down her back once more to ease her worry.
it seemed she was lucky in taking refuge in his side as well because there was a sudden strong wind that nearly knocked some of them off of their feet. [name] looked ahead, squinting to try and not let the sand into his eyes. his hold on vivi was strong, careful to not let her get swept off of her feet.
her arms wrapped around his waist and his arm around her shoulder. he kept her head down by resting it on the back of her head and she ducked into his chest to shield herself from the harsh sand.
in a couple of seconds, the wind had left them alone. they all watched in confusion as the breeze seemed to “twirl” away and then disappear. luffy seemed interested by something as he suddenly rushed in a different direction from where they were supposed to go.
“someone collapsed?!” vivi shouted, letting go of [name] in an instant and running ahead. everyone followed after her, luffy going off in his own direction with sanji and usopp going to fetch him.
when they saw what vivi was referring to, they all stilled. it was a dry skull that was resting in the sand, cloth surrounding it to indicate that it was an innocent civilian that had died.
[name] sighed, watching as vivi fell to her knees in fury and sorrow, “what have the people of this country ever done to deserve this?! to think, crocodile, one of the seven warlords, is in this country and prancing around as some hero when he’s the one pulling the strings! lying and manipulating the innocent people of this country!!”
the crew stayed silent, watching as vivi helplessly fisted the sand beneath her feet as a means of not blowing all of her anger out.
ace moved to dig into the sand a little bit, offering the princess a smile. she took ahold of the skull and gently placed it inside, trying to mimic a proper burial.
they were about to ask where luffy had gone before they saw and heard a building crash in the distance.
“tsk, he's acting like a child,” zoro said in disapproval.
“aren’t you like only two years older than him?” [name] asked, making the swordsman look embarassed.
“don’t remind me…someone as idiotic as that is close to me in age,” he said, putting his head down in supposed shame.
“vivi! let’s get moving now, i’m itching to do this!” luffy shouted once he rejoined the group, sanji and usopp in tow.
“let’s go to yuba, vivi,” nami cheerfully encouraged, making the princess stand tall to her feet and nod in agreement.
“i’m going to persuade the rebel’s leader to put an end to this. crocodile is the one responsible for all the calamaties, i’m going to tell the truth — and put an end to all this bloodshed!!” it seemed vivi had a very idealist way of looking at the situation.
zoro and [name] seemed hesitant about the plan, but nodded nonetheless. in [name]’s head, he finalized that no matter what plan vivi had, he’d be right behind her to hold her up and support her, should it fail. him and the rest of the crew shared the same sentiment, he was sure.
within minutes of hiking over the sandy dunes, [name] was close to passing out, luffy couldn’t stop complaining about the heat, and chopper was being dragged by zoro via sled.
“burning up…sweat won’t even come out,” luffy said, his tongue sticking out as he tried to lower his body temperature.
“vivi, is it really advised to wear this many layers in the heat?” [name] asked, slumped and deflated as he willed himself to walk forward.
“yes, it may be very hot right now, [name], but this is surely better than suffering a terrible sunburn later,” vivi said, trying to ease the man up, but it seemed he was completely fucked out by the weather to notice her gentle tone.
ace came creeping up behind [name] and immediately buried him in a hug.
“ace, i’ll kill you, i’ll really kill you,” [name] said, feeling himself burn up as he crushed him in a hug. ace backed off, but still kept his close distance with [name].
“what does it feel like?” the freckled man asked, looking at [name] in interest.
“like my bones are on fire, they’re gonna melt off and my inside will slowly get cooked by the immense heat they’re radiating. feels like there’s an oven inside of my body cooking me to a crisp,” [name] breathed out, making people look at him in wonderment.
“don’t be so creepily descriptive about stuff like that!” nami shouted, earning a glare from [name].
“just be thankful you don’t have to actually feel it!” he shot back, earning an intervention from sanji.
“don’t raise your voice at nami-san!!” sanji said, trying to kick [name], but was stopped mid air when [name] raised his hand.
“don’t raise your voice at me, either! piss blonde!” [name] shouted, slapping his hand in an opposite direction and sending sanji flying.
“guys, please, don’t fight, you’ll just waste your strength!” vivi shouted, seemingly talking to both [name] and sanji, as well as nami, usopp, and luffy - who were fighting over the water jug.
finally, the sun set across the expansive desert and the hot air became almost freezing.
[name] then took ace up on the offer he gave earlier, comfortably cuddling into his warm side and sighing in relief.
”alright, human furnace, make sure you keep this balanced - like this. this is perfect,” [name] sighed in gratitude, spreading his arms out as he let his back rest on ace’s chest. he shifted his body, very, very slightly so that one of his fingers could trace the lettering on ace’s chest, a soft smile on his face.
the freckled man stayed as still as a statue, not wanting to irk [name] even more with restless moving, and observed the crew in front of them with watchful eyes. ace made sure to hold [name] protectively close, very determined to keep him warm.
and despite [name]’s stomach being almost empty, he was able to fall into a short slumber, snoring gently as ace held him.
“it must be a real surprise,” vivi’s quiet voice whispered, chuckling lightly as she caught sight of [name]’s sleeping face. “i mean, luffy-san, i was surprised too, at first. maybe it’s the fact he doesn’t really act like a captain - or that normal pirate captains are respected by their crewmates. but just this afternoon, a simple drink of water caused that big fight,”
ace kept gazing at [name]’s sleeping face, smiling softly as he listened to the princess ramble.
“[name] was also a surprise to be around,” she said, making the pirate perk up at for what she had to say about [name], “i mean, his bounty is terrifyingly high and he’s got a terrible reputation all across the seas…but he acts just like luffy. so carefree it almost causes issues,”
ace smiled, almost blindingly wide, and shrugged, “that’s just how they are. luffy hasn’t changed a bit since he was a kid,” ace sighed, brushing a couple of stray hairs away from [name]’s face, “[name] hasn’t either, but to me that’s more of a relief than a worry.”
“what was [name] like as a kid?” vivi suddenly asked, not being able to hide her interest in the sleeping man. ace noticed this, chuckling as he saw her pale cheeks become a pale pink.
“you’re interested in [name], then?”
there was a pause before she shook her head violently, “no, not like that! not like that! i want to know more about him, though…” her voice trailed off, noticing the unimpressed look ace was giving her, as well as a knowing smile, “well, i’m interested in knowing more about him - only because i feel like he’s sees right through all of us,”
ace allowed her to continue, “the way he treats everyone…it’s like he knows what they’re thinking. it’s terrifying. it definitely was scary when he first came aboard the ship,” she said, remembering her constant fear that [name] was there only to assassinate her as the princess. “his true colors really showed through when nami got sick.
“he knew the burden on everyone’s shoulders and tried to hoist it all on his own, especially mine.” she grinned as she watched [name] stir in his sleep, “he really understood me in that moment and even made me a promise! like he knew all the right words to say and how to make you feel…comforted,”
ace laughed gently, squeezing [name]’s impossibly closer as he reminisced on their own childhood memories, “i know what you mean, he did the same thing to me when we were younger. he knew exactly what i was thinking and got me to feel better, even though i really wanted to hate his guts,”
there was a silence that passed over the duo, before vivi dared to speak again, “[name]…has a lot of stress doesn’t he?” as ace was about to interject, she continued, “i don’t want you to answer that — that’s more prying that i’d want to take part in. but, it’s obvious, that he worries so much about other people, on top of his own.”
she turned to ace, a look of determination on her face, “i know i’m causing him a lot of stress right now, but ace, i promise you and luffy that i won’t burden him much longer!”
the man looked at her in surprise, breaking into laughter once more, “don’t worry about [name], he’s strong! and besides, you think you’re burdening him, but really, you’re probably giving him more support than you know. as easy as it is for him to read other people, it’s hard to tell what he’s thinking, right?” vivi nodded her head, “but i can see it - he relies on you just as much as you rely on him. so don’t go talking about how you’ll ease his burden so quickly, it’ll probably only make him sad,”
vivi seemed shocked to hear the information, looking between ace and [name]. she seemed hesitant to believe his words, so ace jokingly added in, “don’t forget who i am princess, his lover, i know him best,”
she flushed at the sentence, making ace break out into more obnoxious laughter — happy to send the woman into another flustered state.
“ace, shut the hell up, you’re a better heater when your mouth is shut,” [name] sleepily scolded, lazily punching ace in the face to get him to quiet down, “ruining my sleep, i’ll kill you, i’ll really kill you,”
ace shrugged at the threat, vivi looking at the duo in amusement, “lover’s quarrel?” she asked jokingly, making ace nod his head.
“he’s got a stubborn attitude he likes infecting into other peop-”
“ace, i said shut up!!!” [name] shouted suddenly, pushing his palm into ace’s face.
vivi laughed at the sight and found it even more endearing when ace actually did keep his mouth shut, following [name]’s command.
she was very thankful to have both [name] and luffy on her side.
and just when [name] thought he could get some uninteruppted sleep, courtesy of ace and his warmth, he was proved very wrong when he was suddenly grappled awake.
“who the fuck-?”
“we’re about to get swept off by the sandstorm, just hide behind a rock,” ace quickly explained, knowing that if he didn’t speak fast enough, [name] would beat his ass.
“where’s chopper? nami? vivi?” [name] asked, looking around for those he was most concerned for.
ace chuckled, “chopper is with luffy, nami is with sanji, and vivi can hold her own — she’s the one who grew up here, y’know?”
[name] nodded, accepting the explanation and instead braced for the impact of the sandstorm. it seemed to whip all their belongings out of order, crashing sand in their faces and all around them.
by the time it had passed, the sun was now properly up in the sky, meaning it had passed in the early dawn hours of the morning. [name] yawned, moving the sand from his face and body as he got up.
ace went to check on luffy and [name] found his way over to vivi.
”come on, princess,” he said, easily lifting her up by the undersides of her armpits and carrying her out of the heavy sand, “let’s get to travelling now. that was a pretty shit alarm clock,”
vivi murmured a thanks, seeing as [name] was the one who very easily lifted her up. he shrugged, saying it was no big deal and then moved on to check on chopper. he saw that nami was in the careful hands of sanji.
without waiting much longer, the entire crew decided to get moving. luffy’s dumbass decided that whoever won rock, paper, scissors would be the one to haul the belongings (even though it should have been whoever lost) and then he ended up winning.
feeling pity for his captain, [name] took half the portion and carried it on his own makeshift sled as well.
“[name], you’re the only one who cares about me,” luffy said exasperated by the physical task, “thank you for helping,”
“don’t go making stupid decisions that get you stuck in stupid situations, stupid,” [name] scolded, smacking the back of luffy’s head.
“i will, i will,”
“you mean you won’t?!” [name] reiterated, making his captain nod in understanding, although there was a high chance the information went in one ear and out the other. “why do i have to be the one always giving you advice, luffy? shouldn’t you know these certain things by now, seriously?”
“ooh! you can be my adviserer,” luffy proclaimed.
“what the fuck does that even mean?”
”you’re the adviserer.” luffy repeated, once again saying the incorrect word (he meant to say advisor, but added an extra -er for no reason).
“luffy, stop rambling nonsense,” [name] said, brushing away the topic as he truly didn’t understand what luffy meant.
after some time, usopp finally spotted a rock and announced it to the group.
“rock up a small ways ahead!!!”
“for real?! [name], let’s go!!!” luffy picked [name] up and threw him onto the pile of stuff then used his two free hands to carry both of their sleds of luggage. [name] had to hold on for dear life in order to not fall off as luffy carelessly ran through the desert.
“fucks’ sake, luffy!!!” [name]’s echoed shouts were the only signs that he was still alive when luffy ran off, making the rest of the crew sweat drop in disappointment.
[ BONUS : based off of the new outro in the show <3 ]
it hasn’t been long since chopper joined the crew. and despite the rush to get to alabasta, especially now that nami was better, there was no denying they’d be in need of certain amenities.
for a majority of them, it was food, for nami, it was mainly shopping for material goods. so they anchored down in some unknown island, some of the crew was already in the local town to get some goodies, but [name] and chopper stayed back on the sandy beach they had landed on.
“are you excited, chopper? your first real adventure,” [name] grinned, hyping the small reindeer up for the journeys they would take together.
“i’m excited, but also scared…were you scared when you first set sail, [name]?” chopper asked. “you don’t seem like the type to be scared easily,”
“pft! i was dead scared when i set out to sea by myself!!” [name] confirmed, laughing with his entire chest. chopper seemed shocked to learn that, eyes wide and sparkling.
“what? what do you mean?”
“i mean i was so scared chopper, definitely worse than what you were feeling,” [name] said, wanting to uplift the younger one’s spirits, “it was dark when i set sail, i had to go in the middle of the night! do you know what the sea looks like at night?” chopper shook his head, noting that he often went to bed early, “it’s all black around you. pitch black! could you imagine, going out to sea, and the first and only thing you can see is pitch black?”
chopper shivered where he sat, shaking his head as he most definitely did not want to think about that, “did you really sail out at night?”
“would i lie to you?” [name] asked with a cheerful grin. “that was my first time ever setting out to sea by myself, i was scared chopper, so i understand why you’re on edge.”
[name] leaned back on the palms of his hand, basking in the gentle sun.
“it’s alright to be scared, chopper,” [name] finalized, “you’ve got me to watch your back anyway, so enjoy the sea! you left your island to seek adventure, right?! enjoy and don’t worry about anything!”
[name] pointed a thumb at himself, “i’m strong enough to protect you and then some,”
chopper’s eyes sparkled completely, jumping onto [name]’s shoulder and shouting at the top of his lungs, “i’ll be the greatest pirate doctor to ever sail the sea!”
[name] chuckled at his childish antics, but cheered in alliance with chopper.
unknown to chopper, usopp, nami, and vivi were silently watching from the bushes behind them and were grinning at the heartfelt scene.
“so that guy really does have a heart?” usopp asked with a teasing tone. admiration sparkled in his eyes, though, as he saw how easily [name] was able to uplift chopper's mood.
“[name]’s pretty cool, isn’t he?” vivi asked, her cheeks uplifting in a smile as she watch [name] easily interact with chopper and ease all his worries.
“a pretty cool idiot,” nami sighed, but she too had a fond look on her face.
chopper and [name] were now yelling their dreams of being out on sea towards the shore line in front of them, and the secretly hidden three crewmates behind them to hear.

Nami knew she had gotten under Law’s skin, she didn’t even need to look back to know the look he had was priceless. Nami and Robin both knew the boys were crushing hard, even Luffy. She even considered you a girl crush. The lingering stares they all had when you walked by, no matter who it was they couldn’t keep their eyes off of you.
I guess it was because you were so very different in every way. You were an alien to them. A beautiful and charming being that was gifted to them from the man above. You wanting to leave them broke their hearts, you were like their last missing puzzle piece.
Nami sat back down with the minks enjoying the rest of the night while Law decided it was best to make his way to you, you’d been gone for fifteen minutes now.
Zoro had laughed so hard there were now tears in his eyes. You couldn’t help but bite your lip to keep yourself from smirking. Zoro was a sight for sore eyes even though he didn’t acknowledge it.
“ Y/N you always surprise me. That’s why I like you” he said wiping a stray tear from his eye.
“ Well it is the truth… any answer I give you won’t satisfy you or the crew”
“ And why is that?”
“ I don’t think I need anything else unfortunate to happen in my life”
Although his laughed died down he still held a smile to his face making you want to look away. Why is anything amusing in the first place? He’s acting as if he didn’t put you in a choke hold when you first got back to the ship.
“ Y/N… I know you’re angry and you’re trying to hide it. And I’m sorry for what I did to you”
“ Ok, I don’t forgive you”
“ That’s fine, I’ll give you time to forgive me and I’ll do anything for you to feel comfortable around me like you did before…”
He was much closer now, you could feel your heart racing as he towered over you so easily. You wanted to back away but you were stuck in place like the soles of your feet were nailed to the ground.
“ I had something else to say as well..”
“ Hurry up”
“ Trafalgar… you and him-”
“ There is no me and him. Law and I are friends why do all of you keep asking me stupid questions ! ”
He reached out and tilted your face towards him. As he got closer you had to look away— look anywhere else he was even more intimidating to be alone with. He was holding your chin and starring into you like he was searching your eyes for the truth.
“ I though Luffy told you.. you were a bad liar?”
“ I-”
Right then the door opened and you felt like you could breathe again. It was Law and he frowned as he seen the awkward scene in front of him. You walked towards him and grabbed his arm leading him back to your seats of safety.
“ Y/N we were talking”
“ I’m tired of speaking about the same thing Zoro”
Zoro gripped his swords and a vein popped out of his neck. You just walk away from someone when you’re speaking? You just walk away from someone soon as you see Law now?
“ What was he talking about?”
“ Oh you know, about US and trying to ask if I knew I was drugged. The regular ”
He gave you a sad smile, you were clearly upset and they were just adding fire to the fuel. You were too kind and so patient, he could only imagine what this would’ve been like if he hadn’t been here. Your situation remind him of when him and Corazon were together and it just made him more determined to help you.
The rest of the night you both stayed together and you were finally able to relax. You’d be on Zou for another day and a half then you’d be with the Heart Pirates until you got home. With both of your knowledge of how the next arch would go the Strawhats would have to let you go with him.
Why would they send someone like you to Big Mom’s territory? The party went on the rest of the night and Law brought up what Nami told him earlier.
“ Nami said something earlier tonight that really shook me”
You tilted your head waiting for him to continue.
“ She said I should snatch you up before someone else does.. what do you think of that?”
Your cheeks burned again, and you couldn’t help but laugh.
Is this his way of asking me out?
“ So what should we do…”
“ I think… well… what do you want to do actually?”
“ huh… w-well maybe… maybe we should?”
You two were both blushing at this point. You both admired each other greatly. You from watching him on the show and him from getting to know you throughout the time you’ve spent together. Of course, you two were great friends but you’d be liars if you said becoming this close didn’t spark something.
He cleared his throat awkwardly before resuming your awkward conversation. “ I don’t mind it— plus this could also help you”
“ O-of course”
“ So then…”
“ So then ask me out…”
His face was beet red. How could you be so bold? Spending time in this world really made you into a new person, you would’ve never done this to a boy from your world.
“ Y/N will you be my girlfriend?”
What are words? Words aren’t coming out of your mouth. SPEAK Y/N SPEAK !!!
“ Yes. I’ll be your girlfriend Law”
The sun was beginning to rise and you fell asleep in his lap. Law watched your chest rise and fall and a foreign feeling rose in his chest making a lump form in his throat. He’d never taken the time to really be in a relationship with anyone, just like majority of the male characters he was too focused on his goals. But being in one with you— even if it was temporary, felt nice.
Everyone else was passed out on the floor and the fire went out, this would be the perfect time for the two of you to sneak away. He shook you softly till you started to stir and you cracked open your eyes to see the sunrise illuminating his skin.
Oh right… we’re together now.
With that being your first thought you wanted to shy away from him even though you were in his lap. This was a relationship of convenience of course so you didn’t want to make him uncomfortable by starring at him like a love struck puppy.
“ I think we have some time before they wake up to meet with the crew. What do you think?”
You nodded and stood up stretching before walking towards the direction of the camp. The birds were chirping and it seemed to be such a nice morning, as the two of you walked you were making casual conversation and it really felt like the two of you were together.
Just the thought made your brain feel all fuzzy, Trafalgar Law is my boyfriend… how silly would that sound to anyone where I’m from.
“ Luffy ”
“ LUFFY !” The captain woke up confused and startled. Nami was hovering over him angrily shaking him awake.
“ Nami leave me alone we were up all night”
“ Aw really? Well Law and Y/N are missing so I think you should get up” She snarled.
That was definitely something that made him shoot up and almost bump into the angry woman in front of him.
“ Y/N and Traffy… are missing?”
She nodded and pointed to where the two of you sat the entire night. The two of you were gone who knows where and anger bubbled inside of him. That was it, he had enough of you two being so close together. You were lying to him and the crew and he knew you were scheming— this confirmed it.
“ Get the rest of the crew! We are going to find out what exactly is going on with them today”

This is a page from chapter 227 of One Piece, which was first released April 22, 2002:
Tumblr media
The small detail of Sanji's origin would become a major plot point 14 years later and be the root of an entire story arc. However, I want to talk about my own ideas around why this scene ended up the way it did.
Let me preface this with an assumption. I do not believe Eiichiro Oda had Sanji's backstory planned out from the start, and I believe he only started creating it around the same time he started planning out this story arc.
For the arc this chapter is part of, the crew needed to open that storybook and read it. So the question Oda would have to answer is "How do I make the crew acknowledge and discuss the contents of the book?"
First of all, we have to consider who might even care about it. Luffy and Zoro are obviously out. Sanji, Usopp, and Chopper might notice it but not consider it anything of interest. Robin would not bring attention to the rest of the group. So that leaves Nami as the only one who would notice, take interest, and mention it.
Next, we have to have someone read and discuss it. And since Nami is the only one who would bring up the topic, she needs to also be curious about reading it. This means this needs to be a new book for her. So why would Nami have never heard a story about a famous folk character? The answer: It's not a book from the East Blue.
Now we need someone to convince her she should read it. And the most effective way is to have someone be familiar with it. But since the book isn't from the East Blue, Usopp and Sanji can't recommend it. That leaves only Robin and Chopper. Chopper likely wouldn't have read it and Oda probably wants to keep Robin's backstory as secret as possible for an upcoming arc so she can't be the one either.
And then the idea pops in. We know what Sanji was doing before he met Zeff, but we don't actually know anything about where he's from or his family. So why not say he's from somewhere else, like the North Blue and then he can be the one who recommends Nami read the book.
So the immediate problem is solved but now how do we explain Sanji coming from the North Blue? And that's the point where I'd say Sanji's background began. How did Sanji travel from North Blue to East Blue? He's from a wealthy family. Why was he working at a restaurant as a child? His family disowned him. Why did they disown him?
And Oda spent 14 years figuring all this out in the background until he was finally ready to integrate it into the story.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers
@willowmckinley tagged me!
1. How many works do you have on ao3? 74! Man it really doesn't feel like I've written that much.
2. What's your total ao3 word count? 227,559!
3. What fandoms do you write for? Justified and wrestling most often. Then one offs for things that made me crazy.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos? 1) Should Old Acquaintance Be Forgot (MCU, Starker). 2) Every Animal Has Rules (Nope, Angel/OJ) 3) I Try To Picture Me Without You (Moon Knight, Steven/Marc) 4) Six Years (MCU, Starker) 5) Fine By Me (Ted Lasso, Isaac/Colin)
It's hilarious to me that that 35 of my fics are Justified and not a single one cracks the top 5.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? I try to! But currently my inbox on Ao3 is 400 deep so uh. I'm working on it! Sometimes I get overwhelmed, sometimes I just don't know what to say in response. But I greatly appreciate every comment I get!
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? So I personally think it's It Matters Where You Live. It's MCD and grief and I went Through It writing it. But if I go with the emotional trauma I've caused on the server, it's Buttermilk.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I had to think really hard about this, because mostly I write smut and sadness. But if I had to pick one, it's probably Every Animal Has Rules because it leaves it on a note of hope and happiness.
8. Do you get hate on fics? So...not directly on Ao3? I've gotten a deluge of 'kill yourself' messages on tumblr in the past, but it mostly just made me more nonchalant about the gross shit I write. But yeah thankfully no mean comments.
9. Do you write smut? Hell yeah I do.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written? I enjoy them immensely! Haven't written a lot. I think the only one on Ao3 is And Having Been Set Free which is Justified/Supernatural. Because I am a cliche.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I am privileged I guess because I was not even aware that was a thing.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Someone asked once I think? Probably on an MCU fic.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Nope! But I share the 'Out My Back Door' series with @itookyoudown!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship? Oh lord. I cannot do all time. Recency bias my beloved. Currently enjoying Sanji/Luffy/Zoro. Long time loves are Malec, Alfie/Tommy and Givenson.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will? A Malec fic based very, very loosely on Crazy Rich Asians. I had big plans and an outline and the final season just took the winds right out of my sails.
16. What are your writing strengths? Oh boy, I am not good at saying nice things about myself. My visuals, maybe? I'd like to think it's my ability to portray emotion, but who knows.
17. What are your writing weaknesses? Finishing things. Being hyper sensitive to things most people wouldn't even call criticism. If I write a gift fic (which whoo boy learned my lesson on that one) and it doesn't get the exact range of response I want, it really kicks me in the emotional balls. Which isn't fair to me or anybody else. So I'm really working on 1) finishing things before I post any. And 2) writing for myself so I don't end up disappointed.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic? I am monolingual. I might slip a curse word in another language but beyond that, I'll go with the tried and true italics.
19. First fandom you wrote for? Oh Jesus. Uh...Dragon Ball Z, I think. Self insert fic at like 12. Yikes. I printed it on fancy parchment paper too.
20. Favorite fic you've written? And Everything Went Black - Wrestling fic, MoxEddie. To this day it's probably my favorite thing I've written. (Stefon voice: It's got everything!) Demon possession, weird visuals, dreams as metaphors and two dudes in love. Nowhere near a popular thing but my beloved.

20 questions for writers!
I was tagged by @triggerlil , who i thank very much, cause they always tag me in interesting posts and fun games! This seems like a lot of fun and I actually might go back and think about my work haha.
I also got tagged by @counting0nit , which signifies how long this has been sitting in my drafts, but istg it's been so hard for me to answer all these questions. But thank you so much for the tag too!! I tried my best ;)
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
I have 16 works on my account
2. what's your total ao3 word count?
24 712 words
3. what fandoms do you write for?
Right now for Masters of the Air, but i wrote a lot for One piece (live action) and i did one fic for Hunger Games: Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
4. top 5 fics by kudos?
Destroy myself just for you
When you know, you know
Stay with me (in every lifetime)
Can you touch the moon?
Breathe, baby
These are all my op Zolu fics (except the last one), so if you want to check some mota buck and bucky fics up, here it is ;)
5. do you respond to comments?
Yes!! Comments make me the happiest and mean the world to me.
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
It has to be I know it's over and it never really began. I think just the prompt "i love you" ... "it'll pass" is extremely angsty. But at the end, i really tried to delve into the depth of their relationship and how maybe it wasn't so healthy after all. It was so fun writing that fic, cause I've never looked at their love in that light. And I'm just overall very proud of that fic.
7. what is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
This is a hard one, cause i have very strong tendencies to ruin the happy ending if i ever write one lol. If we're talking mota then probably Breathe, baby or Messy hair (that's the only fluff I've written for clegan). But overall probably When you know, you know (my first fic), that one is really sweet and cute.
8. do you get hate on fics?
I don't. I think ao3 is the place where you can choose what you want to read so specifically and go really into detail with your preferences, that if the person doesn't like what you write they usually don't even click on your work or they just move on to another one. Or at least i think that's how it should be.
9. do you write smut?
No. I don't like it that much and it's too much for me too.
10. craziest crossover?
I don't write crossovers.
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, i'm definitely not that famous and my works aren't that good to be stolen haha.
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
Again, no.
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, i haven't, but it's actually such a cool idea in my opinion. To share your art so intimately with someone else and cowork on some fic sounds very appealing and exciting to me.
14. all time favorite ship?
I don't think i have an all time fave, but Buck and Bucky are definitely up there. I can't forget about the ones who started all this which are Luffy and Zoro. There's definitely more, but I'm not sure right now.
15. what's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
There are sometimes just like fragments of my mind and ideas in my notes app, like a name of a song or a few key words with the ship i want it for and maybe even a few sentences. I think those ideas are really good, but i usually leave them untouched for too long and then it just doesn't really hit or make sense to you anymore. I have A LOT of wips right now. I've never really had any, i finished and posted almost everything I wrote, but now... I should do something about it lol.
16. what are your writing strengths?
I love writing dialogues, I'm not sure if it's my strength, but i truly do love writing conversations. I like to think that i can use metaphors and poetry language quite well in my fics.
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
Multi-chaptered fics are my worst fear. That's the reason why i have only one on my account and also why it's not finished yet. Maybe writing fluff and happy endings? I feel like sometimes i get too caught up in the sadness.
Btw. This was so hard for me to think about! So if you wanna tell me my strengths or weaknesses, feel free!
18. thoughts on dialogue in another language?
Uhh, very mysterious. I probably don't understand, but gimme more. Just make sure you have the right translation, that's probably the most important thing.
19. first fandom you wrote in?
One piece! Luffy and Zoro were my babies. But if we're not talking about ao3, that would be marauders with remus lupin and sirius black (or other pairings).
20. favorite fic you've written?
Hmm, this is a hard one. I'd say probably my fic Labyrinth, which if i remember correctly was an absolutely spontaneous fic that i wrote by getting inspired by a quote. I remember it was so easy for me to write it, cause i couldn't stop thinking about the quote, the words, the sentences and meaning it represented. But if we're talking about Mota fics, I'd have to say... I know it's over and it never really began, cause i enjoyed exploring Buck's resentment to what he really wants and Bucky not being able to do a single thing about it. But i have to also mention my first ever fic to this fandom Once more to see you, which was an absolute brainrot, cause i needed to get them out of my head and write about them. And now my latest fic Breathe, baby, which was a really personal one and it was so cool writing that and I'm very proud of what came out of it.
This took me an embarrassing amount of time, but I'm glad it's done and out here ;)

teddy, king, beloved, sunbright,
what the fuck are the ballad brothers
Therse guys in my head. I don’t know very much about them but maybe making a masterpost will help? Literally I cannot emphasize enough how much I was just listening to music while I was driving and. now there’s guys in there. With a lot of implied sci-fantasy worldbuilding I don’t understand yet. Anyway!
Kyrie Aleidis Ballad
Tumblr media Tumblr media
29, she/her, former sword-for-hire, current fugitive. The older Ballad Brother. Priorities include vibing and keeping things good for her baby brother (before) and trying to fix the world after it broke (metaphorically) while she was gone (after). Diagnosed big fuckoff “microchip sword like that guy from Transistor”
The Horatio to FG!C. The Gojo to Haibara. The Mordred to Gawain (HNOC). Also Guinevere (HNOC). Laertes (Hamlet). If Roddy was a little more serious and had less responsibility. Little bit of Cyclonus aswell but in a Whirl way. Dyker robobs if he was marginally less traumatized.
Alonzo ‘Toro’ Ballad
(Except only Kyrie is allowed to call him that)(Ari tried it once to be obnoxious and he punched them)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
25, he/him, former Little Guy, current sword-for-hire. The younger Ballad Brother. Priorities include: being just like his sister when he grows up (before) and do you think he fuckin knows he’s just trying to get from day to day over here (after). Terminal funny bitch (emphasis on the bitch). He’s even asexual.
If Feldspar DM grew up to be FG!C/Underhill Jay Sleepaway. The Haibara to Gojo. Gawain HNOC. Tien Stormlight. Cyrus Planegays. They’re both kind of Zoro also actually. If Miki RGU grew up to be John-or-Benny OSCU. If you combined the entire Ricosquad robobs into one guy.
Ari Basil Finch (Seneca)
Tumblr media
25, any pronouns, several jobs best summed up as Mad Scientist. (Weapons tech guy. Intern. Part time front desk in the financial department. Necromancer. Not the order they would put those in.) Priorities include: bringing their [somebody] back from the dead, causing problems on purpose. (No I don’t know who they’re trying to bring back I just know they can’t do it.)(why? good question.) Nepo baby extraordinaire. There’s something wrong with them in the brain <3
Other Things I Know:
there’s an organization
Kyrie fucked off to work there as a sword for hire when Alonzo was like 14 without saying anything (first time they had ever been meaningfully separated)
These bitches don’t have parents (possibly sci-fi shenanigans)
Alonzo found out that’s where she was a couple years later and joined up as soon as he could
Shortly before that she quit and/or got fired very very dramatically and became the organization’s Public Enemy Number One
Alonzo was kind of underground during that and he still doesn’t really know what’s going on. He’s not gonna get her ass tho.
At some point they have a confrontation swordfight on a roof. I don’t know what the deal with that is.
Alonzo and Ari have a weird fucked up gay thing going on best described as Part Time Boyfriends. Kind of dating. Also Ari is 100% milking the sugar daddy angle of Running Front Desk In The Financial Department. And also they’re kind of just coworkers (derogatory). (TLDR. POV you have to wrangle with the financial department at work to get your expenses account in order for your next assassination but you got a little too close to the guy running the front desk over there and now they think it’s funny to fuck with you)
Alonzo doesn’t have any faith in the necromancy. Heehoo!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That’s about it??? Rotations to follow.

Twenty Questions for Fic Writers!
tagged by @bbcphile
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
69. NICE.
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
522,701
Smoke and Mirrors (Sephiroth/Cloud, drag queen canon divergence) has disproportionately contributed to this.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
I am sadly monofannish, so at the moment I am writing in Mysterious Lotus Casebook 蓮花樓. There are a few fandoms I have gone back to writing to, like Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney when a new game comes out. I suspect I will dive back into Smoke and Mirrors once I am done with MLC and I play FF7 Rebirth.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Day Still Young (Wrightworth PWP)
Safe and Sound (ZoroLu PWP)
Storm Before the Calm (A Wrighworth piece I wrote for an exchange, I'm surprised it's this popular!)
Love and Longing (Wrightworth piece I wrote a long time ago)
Perennial Passions (Wrightworth PWP)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do my best when I am able, but sometimes I don't always get around to it or I don't have the spoons. I apologize if you've left a comment and I haven't been able to respond. Thank you.
6. What is a fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I smashed out Tarnished Silver (Sol/Ky, Guilty Gear, Major Character Death) in one evening because I was shocked that one of the audio dramas would have an AU that kills off a main char
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I mostly do one-shots or series that are comprised of one shots that take place in the same universe. Euphemistically, all of my smut has a happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Extremely rarely. And if I did, I would report and then delete.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
All the time. I think every time I get into a ship I write porn for them. My usual tags are Porn Without Plot and Porn With Feelings.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I am extremely proud of Born for the Fast Life, my Ace Attorney x Fast and Furious crossover. This might be the only multi-chaptered fic of any significant length I have ever finished in my life.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
A few over the years. Most recently, the entire Smoke and Mirrors series has been translated into Chinese.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
I've done massive RPs before and collaborated on universes, but never a specific fic.
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I am mono-fannish, so my favorite ship is always whoever is currently my ship, which is Di Feisheng/Li Lianhua. I suspect I will always love and have a soft spot for Zoro/Luffy from One Piece.
15. What's a wip you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Two Bodies (Baze/Chirrut, Rogue One). I had so much backstory for them in my head, but it'll never be done. I need to learn that I am fickle and easily distracted and thus not made for long novel-length projects.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Action/fight scenes, car chases, Porn with Feelings.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things I start.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I'm only fluent enough to do this in Chinese, and only for short bits of conversation. I've only done this once for 天涯海角 The Ends of the Earth
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Fushigi Yuugi, but it was all for myself and only two people on this earth have read it. First fandom I wrote and posted for? Weiss Kreuz. How's that for a throwback?
20. Favorite fic you've written?
I'm proudest of Smoke and Mirrors, mostly because the characters are so vivid, but also because of its length and the way it's been plotted, even though it's yet undone and I don't have an ending for it. I'd like to figure out where I'm going someday and finish it.
I'm shit at tagging people, so anybody who reads this, if you want to do it, please!

20 questions for fic writers
@carriecmoney tagged everyone who wanted to do this, and that includes me :) I will also be passing it along and tagging everyone who wants to do it
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
109! The Hetalia fics are posted under a different psued, so they don’t all always show up
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
804,045!
3. What fandoms do you write for?
These days mostly One Piece
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1) Learning to Listen (ZoSan as pain sharing soulmates)
2) Keeping Secrets (Zosan is the worst best kept secret of the Straw Hat pirates)
3) Is technically Call It What You Want, but since I’m basically riding the coattails of 7 much better writers for that, we’ll skip it and say The Proper Reaction (ZoSan au where Sanji brings Zoro home for Christmas to meet Zeff)
4) Hold Me Closer (Zosan, anesthesia makes Zoro forget he’s married to the love of his life, fluff ensues)
5) The Love I Need to See Me Through (ZoSan au where King Zoro kidnaps Prince Sanji)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Not really, mostly because I’m very shy and responded with “thanks I’m glad you enjoyed it” all the time makes me anxious. I’ll reply if someone asks a question.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hard to say, since I mostly like happy endings, but probably the ao3 version of the murder mystery because Spoilers.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Hard to say since again since I like happy endings, most of them end pretty happy. Probably The Christmas Swap, since i was going for “hallmark movie but incredibly gay” and got to make the brothers more accepting thanks to that premise.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Occasionally, but not really. There’s been one persistent anon lately, but I’m wise to their game
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I don’t! I might in the future if the plot calls for it, but we’ll see
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
Yes, sometimes! There’s a Kingdom Hearts/Legend of Zelda Epic I’ve been planning since I was like 14 that I want to write one day, but if all the ones I’ve published probably the Hetalia/Ace Attorney crossover.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Thankfully no, or not that I know of
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! There’s a Russian translation for Bounty Troubles, and a Chinese translation for the first part of Learning to Listen. I think there are more but I can’t find the links
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! As mentioned I worked on Call It What You Want with some friends, and I worked on This Is How You Lose the Time War with my friend Haru! It was fun writing with them
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Probably ZoSan at this point, there just so versatile and fun to shove in Situations
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
There’s this au where Sanji never left Germa and became there spy and is now on Alabasta causing problems on purpose fic I’ve been chipping away at for years, but who knows maybe someday it’ll be finished
16. What are your writing strengths?
I’m great at dialog, coming up with ideas, and fixing plot holes
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Too many commas, can’t describe shit, reuse the same ideas and phrases, and I can’t stop editing as I go
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I’ve done it! I only speak English so I got some outside help, but I think it’s very effective if the POV can’t understand the language
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Technically powerpuff girls, but that was just for my friends. That I posted online Legend of Zelda, but all those fics are gone now
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Fade Away! I didn’t think I was a good enough writer for the idea when I started, but I wrote it anyway, and as I did I became better

name.     edward but i also hoard names n at this point just respond to everything. pronouns.     he / they / it. preference of communication.     discord coz i'm not always on all my blogs to see IM notifs. most active muse.     right now????? adam. 100. but i do also have a shitload of brainworms about alim @magilv n zoro @3style. experience / how many years.     technically i larped my way thru kindergarten with (what i later discovered was the equivalent of) a bootleg warrior cats selfinsert, & rped thru my panfu avatar, but i've been writing on tumblr 13 going on 14 years :") platforms you use.     tunglr, tho i've participated in ic chatrooms on discord. best experience.     the past five or so years, i'd say, so like. the entirety of my adulthood dkfjghd. rp pet peeves.     5+ space usage between words in threads. i'm guilty of having written like that & i cannot fathom why i thought it looked good, i have a hard time rereading my own past threads rifp. fluff, angst, or smut.     i Am a sucker for fluff with rough characters & angst with soft characters, but it honestly just depends on the day which of the two comes easiest to me. i have like. zero experience when it comes to writing smut, hence why i say the closest my content gets to sexual nsfw is in headcanon posts, or if a reply gets a little spicy skdfjghsdkf. plots or memes.     i'm only good with plotting if i have a prompt to jump off of, because i'm very head full no thoughts & often find i Have thoughts only when asked the right question. so i gravitate towards memes. long or short replies.     when i try to do short, it comes out long, & vice versa, & i've actually had to teach myself lately to be satisfied with the shorter stuff. honestly i'm just happy to write at all, so you'll never hear me complain about a reply's length unless it's literally two sentences to my five paragraphs or something. best time to write.     i write up a lot of my drafts during afternoon hours, & if i don't immediately format those drafts then i often end up writing way past sunset.  are you like your muses.     in some respects, yeah. all of them share the trait of being weirdo rowdies with incredible stubborn streaks. :)c

more than words
50 words; 50 sentences
ao3
#01 - Motion
A spinning kick, a swing of blade — the two meet and hit but don’t hurt, and Nami sighs exasperatedly at such a pathetic display of a mating dance.
#02 - Cool
Zoro stands his ground as his enemy — finally, finally — falls unceremoniously on his back, unconscious, and Sanji thinks for a moment that the sight of Zoro — wild and victorious and ready to take on the world — looks kind of, maybe, slightly cool.
  #03 - Young
Brook sees the two — dying to die for each other, the weight of their friends’ lives pulling down their shoulders — and he thinks too many people forget how young they still are.
  #04 - Last
The Cook is the last person Zoro would consider lending a hand in a fight — “who would want to work together with that dumbass anyway,” he lies whenever anyone asks, and doesn’t admit that it’s because he trusts Sanji’s ability to stand his ground, wholly and fully.
  #05 - Wrong
Sanji knows Zoro, like him, understands better than most — that this nakama thing isn’t just something you’d die for, but something you’d kill for, too.
  #06 - Gentle
Sanji manages to catch Kitetsu before it rolls off from the deck during a storm, and in that moment, Zoro knows, from the reverent way he regards the swords in his hands, that this isn’t the first time the Cook has wielded one.
  #07 - One
“Calm down, Marimo,” Sanji says with a dismissive wave of his hand when Zoro asks about the sword a few days later, “I’m not about to take your place as the ship’s swordsman; a cook doesn’t use his hands to fight, and I had a terrible teacher anyways.”
  #08 - Thousand
“I’m worth two thousand men,” Zoro grumpily says, almost sulking, and Nami can’t resist patting his head like she would to a little boy pulling the pigtail of a girl he has a crush on.
  #09 - King
You’re like the prince of Dumbass Kingdom, Zoro says, and it takes Sanji everything in him not to blurt out, Dumbass Kingdom sounds about right; wait ‘till you see the fucking king.
  #10 - Learn
Watching Sanji converse fluently with a couple of tourists in a Northern language, Zoro wonders when he will ever stop learning something new about Sanji — or if he ever will, at all.
  #11 - Blur
When Zoro finally comes to, the wounds from Bartholomeow Kuma is muted by Chopper’s medicine, a dull throb at the back of his consciousness; but the sharp pain against his heart feels raw still, visceral and razor-sharp, tucked alongside the ache of Sanji’s sacrifice.
#12 - Wait
“Wait,” he manages to croak out before Sanji flees the room, the word spilling out unbidden; he isn’t quite sure why, but he knows that he wants the Cook to stay.
  #13 - Change
“Have some fucking decency ,” Sanji yells, throwing a shirt at Zoro’s direction; the brute has been walking around the ship bare-chested like an eyesore ever since they entered the summer island, and Sanji is just trying to do everyone a favor — and definitely not because there’s a different kind of heat pooling at the pit of his stomach.
#14 - Command
Robin watches the two in amusement — Zoro could have easily refused to be Sanji’s pack mule, and she can hear him grumbling about it still; and yet, here they are, once again, together at the island’s marketplace.
#15 - Hold
Sanji is rough around the edges, bristling at the slightest touch; Zoro knows he needs to be gentle, but he doesn’t quite remember the last time he held something that isn’t a hilt of a sword, without meaning to hurt . It’s a learning curve.
  #16 - Need
Sanji knows Zoro is a dumbass, but it takes a special kind of stupid to think he would never be good enough for Sanji, when he’s all that Sanji has ever needed.
#17 - Vision
Zoro never regrets losing his eye, but he wishes, sometimes, he could still take in the sight of Sanji with an unimpaired vision, just to see more of him.
  #18 - Attention
“You’re starting a fight, Marimo?” Sanji growls, voice low and dangerous, and Zoro thinks, yes, yes, anything to get you to look at me.
  #19 - Soul
He loves the kid like a brother, but sometimes Zoro hates how Luffy can easily see past his gruff words and feigned ignorance; the way Luffy only needs to take one look at him to guess, “you’re worried about Sanji, aren’t you?”
  #20 - Picture
He carries around everyone’s bounty posters, Sanji tells himself, and tries not to think too hard about how the only one he kept in his breast pocket is Zoro’s, folded neatly against his heart.
  #21 - Fool
“This is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done so far,” Sanji says when they part, lips still tingling from their earlier kiss, because Zoro’s love is fierce and consuming and Sanji knows, ever since he was just a kid with the iron mask, that he doesn’t deserve any of this.
  #22 - Mad
“Don’t you ever say that kind of shit again,” Zoro snarls, slamming the wall beside Sanji’s head, his voice trembling with a kind of anger Sanji has never seen him with before — frustrated, desperate. “You’re important to me, Cook.”
  #23 - Child
Grow up and cast your dreams away, Sanji tells himself every day, the voice ringing in his ears; you stopped being a child deserving of a dream the moment you chained Zeff down to the ground.
  #24 - Now
Grow up and cast your dreams away, Sanji wants to tell himself, but the voice stutters, drowned out by the sight of the kid bleeding on the deck of Baratie — he’s a swordsman, too, acknowledged by none other than Dracule Mihawk himself — but a kid still, throwing himself headfirst towards the case of his dreams, steps unweighted by regrets.
  #25 - Shadow
Zoro doesn’t know which is worse — Sanji, forever running away from the shadow his brothers cast; or Zoro, chasing after someone who is no longer around to leave behind a shadow anymore.
  #26 - Goodbye
After Whole Cake Island, there’s a period of time where Zoro would follow Sanji around the ship like a lost puppy, unwilling to let the Cook out of his sight; Usopp definitely didn’t expect Zoro to have such a cute side, and crouches over his new invention to hide his smile.
  #27 - Hide
“We’re not doing that here,” Sanji hisses, and forces himself not to laugh at the pout on Zoro’s face; the galley might be secluded enough, but they’re still on the enemy ship’s galley.
  #28 - Fortune
It is annoying, the way Sanji keeps reminding Zoro that he could have collected Mihawk’s bounty and lived the rest of his life in wealth; especially when Zoro would trade any riches in the world just to stay by the Cook’s side.
  #29 - Safe
It catches Zoro off guard when Sanji starts talking about his mother; it’s a short anecdote, a single happy memory, but Zoro can tell by the way Sanji tells it — guarded and hesitant, like he wants to keep the words close and safe — that he has never shared it with anyone else before.
  #30 - Ghost
Usopp starts shaking like a leaf as soon as they enter the abandoned, dilapidated house, and Sanji gently tells him, sometimes the worst ghost is the one you create yourself; Zoro feels the weight of Wado on his hip, and agrees.
  #31 - Book
“I don’t need this,” Zoro grumbles with a blush, pushing the book back into Nami’s hands, trying hard to ignore Nami’s laughter and the words ROMANCE FOR DUMMIES emblazoned on the book’s jacket.
  #32 - Eye
Shusui sinks into the man’s stomach, all the way to the hilt, and Zoro thinks of the way Sanji curled into himself as the man landed a lucky hit on the cook’s hand. An eye for an eye.
  #33 - Never
“This is my first time,” Zoro whispers, head ducking away as he feels his face flush at the admission; but Sanji’s hand rests on his cheek, encouraging, and he can feel the curve of Sanji’s smile as their lips meet and Sanji replies, “it’s mine, too.”
  #34 - Sing
Luffy cheers when Zoro and Sanji comes into view, and he lets them take on the next batch of enemies; a good fight is always fun, but watching Zoro and Sanji fight is even more so — like watching a dance that only those two know the melody to.
  #35 - Sudden
“What, are we supposed to be surprised?” Nami says, barely looking up from the map she’s working on; Sanji sputters, face redder than the tomatoes he served during breakfast, and Nami feels almost bad for him.
  #36 - Stop
“But we — Zoro and I — how did you know?” Sanji asks, and promptly stops asking questions when he realizes the rest of the crew aren’t surprised either; who could blame them, when his and Zoro’s sexual tension can be seen from a mile away.
  #37 - Time
Sanji knows they have to break apart soon, just to breathe, but right now all he cares about is to taste as much of Zoro as possible — he has waited two years for this, and it has been two years too long.
  #38 - Wash
They have their fair share of fighting — and how, considering the amount of repairs Usopp has to do for Merry just from their petty fights alone — but what the crew doesn’t know is that they also have this thing, this quiet thing, just him and the Cook and a stack of dirty plates between them.
  #39 - Torn
“In retrospect,” Robin observes, “dressing up our dear cook in a maid uniform would not only lower the enemy’s firepower, but also ours, considering how distracted our swordsman has clearly become.”
  #40 - History
“Why do you keep him around, mister?” The kid asks, pointing at the old swordsman with three swords and an eye scar by the peer; Sanji laughs, pats the kid on the head, and says, almost wistfully — “you can say we have some history.”
  #41 - Power
Sanji tugs at Zoro’s sleeve, and Zoro follows suit despite his complaints — Sanji thinks, distantly, how much of an honor it is, to have so much control over such a powerful man.
  #42 - Bother
“I didn’t have enough time to make this three-tier ice cream cake for our lovely Nami-san and Robin-chan because you distracted me!” Sanji says with a hard jab of a finger against Zoro’s chest, and Zoro thinks, good .
  #43 - God
Zoro does not believe in gods, but there’s a hymn of a noise when Zoro presses his lips against the crook of Sanji’s neck, the hallelujah of the world breaking apart as their bodies move together, and he thinks, close enough .
  #44 - Wall
Zoro slams his fist into the wall of Polar Tang, and is taken aback by the depth of his own frustration; he knows Luffy and the others will get Sanji back from Big Mom’s place, but it unsettles him still, the way Sanji hides himself under layers of pretenses when Zoro has bared so much of himself to the Cook in return.
  #45 - Naked
“What the fuck was that for , Mosshead?!” Sanji shrieks, justifiably furious, leg raised and on fire after Zoro sliced his tray into two without preamble; Zoro can’t exactly tell the Cook he did it because he was too surprised at the sight of Sanji in a swimming trunk and nothing else.
  #46 - Drive
Why Zoro , people sometimes ask, but the answer is easy to Sanji — nobody drives him crazy the way Zoro does, and is that not what true love feels like?
  #47 - Harm
Zoro knows Sanji will be furious ; but as he faces Kuma, knowing at least the Cook is out of harm’s way, he knows he would do this a hundred times over, a thousand times over, a million times over.
  #48 - Precious
Sanji is sitting by the corner of the infirmary, face pale with red-rimmed eyes, and Zoro thinks he’s never had that, before — people who would weep for him, knowing that he is more than dried scars and calloused skin.
  #49 - Hunger
This thing we have is dangerous, Sanji tells him, but Zoro doesn’t care — he already has a craving, the same way he needs a booze when it’s been too long, except he thinks that this vice will surely kill him.
  #50 - Believe
This isn’t faith; this is the truth, Zoro’s truth, the same way he knows he will become the Greatest — Sanji will find that elusive sea of his, and Zoro will stay with him until it is the last thing he can do.

Note
Hi! Ok, I know it isn't very related to Frobin (except if you decide to mention them in the answer), but I am curious about your opionion on this thing. If the end of One Piece have someone of the Straw Hat crew that can die, who can be? OBVIOUSLY I hope nobody, that this thing doesn't happen, but never say never. There're people who say Luffy to recreate Roger's connection. Someone else Usop (but I miss the reason). Or Jinbe, who has also some problems and enemies from previous experiences?
Hey there anon!
No worries about asking questions. This is a FRobin blog but it's also a One Piece blog so it's fine to ask all kind of questions about One Piece. Even though I wouldn't consider myself much of an *expert* so everything I write is very much influenced by my own impressions.
But you're asking for my opinion anyway so that disclaimer is not necessary in this case. XD
---
Okay, first of all: I'm no fan of death flags. I never see them and when I read about them I feel like people pull them out of nowhere.
So I don't think any of the Strawhats will die before or even while the big end fight. Also it's not like they will reach their goal and then just drop dead (don't forget the dream are very different too but more about that later). Like what kind of life would that be?
Also we can't forget that Oda still believes he is writing this story for 14 year old boys. So, even though death is and will be a theme I don't think he will kill off the main crew.
That would not be very clever story wise and is not how to tell a story about adventure and fulfilling dreams for young boys.
Right now it's very "fashionable" to let characters die for shock value. But the more it's done the more annoying it becomes and less of a shock and Oda won't stoop so low to use this kind of element. Why do I think that?
So far we had three deaths in OP and they all shocked us a lot. But they were also used as motivator for other characters. Whitebeards death was a motivator for a whole new Generation of pirates, as well as his crew to try to save Ace and his little brother. Ace's death was a launch of character development for Luffy, Sabo, Garp and even Sengoku and probably more. Pedros death was a motivator for Carrot and other Minks. (Even the fake death of Pell was a huge motivator for Vivi. Interestingly compared to other deaths his sacrifice did not stop the war, which would have been an adequate impact. So him coming back alive actually makes sense.)
But look how few and far between they are. Of course there was more death but the important ones are kept as those.
Why am I talking about that? Who would benefit from a Strawhats death?
Literally no one. They are all already motivated to go until the end for each other. It's more likely that a death would cause Luffy to just give up, him becoming catatonic again.
Who would Luffy fight for if he even loses one of his crew mates? Or maybe two?
If I were a Marine I would try to make Luffy think that his friends are dead and then catch him but that is beside the point.
But for One Piece, a Strawhat death it would not move the story further. There is no additional motivator needed and that would be the only reason to kill one of the crew.
Killing a Strawhat makes no sense in my opinion.
A death would only make sense after they reached their goal.
So it is possible that we see the Strawhats die but long after the story came to an end, them reaching Laugh Tale (if that is the end). And yes, I think all of them will die of natural causes and/or sickness. Most of them at an old age. I think Luffy, Zoro or Usopp being the firsts because of the trauma their bodies had endured would make most sense.
I hope that answered your question anon... and anyone who does not want to read even more about my nonsense can stop here.
But let me break down why I think that all Strawhats have plot armor against death flags, behind the read-more.
-> It is very important that I think the huge clash with the Blackbeard Pirates, which will be the end fight, will happen right before Laugh Tale. And Laugh Tale is the end-goal and the end of the main story. (I MIGHT BE WRONG!!!)<-
Everyones own story can only end after they reached their goal so let's look why I think that these dreams give the Strawhats Plot Armor.
Luffy: Become the king of the pirates. That means he has to reach Laugh Tale. I often hear that Luffy will die early because of the parallel to Roger. That does not mean he won't reach his 40s or 50s. Even after reaching Laugh Tale Roger lived a bit longer and even had time to "make a child" so, killing off Luffy in the end fight makes no sense. So maybe dying after the fight, on Laugh Tale? That could happen and would be the earliest death of any Strawhat imo.
Zoro: Become the strongest sword fighter. That means he still has to kill Mihawk. I don't think Mihawk will go and look for Zoro. So, Zoro has to survive and then return to Mihawk and have his duel. No sense in killing off Zoro. I am 100% sure that he will survive until then.
Nami: Drawing a world map. For that Nami has to travel the world many times more. After they reached Laugh Tale, Nami has only finished part of her dream. She has to visit all of the Blues, travel the Grand Line and the New world multiple times. Drawing a Map of the world will take a lifetime. Her dream will take the longest to be fulfilled.
Usopp: Become the great warrior of the sea. Now here we have a dream that is not really tangible. Usopp will be a great warrior as soon as he realises that he is one. In my opinion he already managed to become a great warrior. Time and time again he has shown how amazing he is but this is all about his own self image and so hard to grasp. This actually makes Usopp the most likely to have a death flag BUT we can't forget that he still has to return home and tell his stories to Kaya and the Usopp pirates. It's part of a promise that is only secondary but for me it's enough to think Usopp too is safe until he did that.
Sanji: To find the All Blue. Sanji thinks that the All Blue is something physical. We can't know that and if it is physical we can consider that it's maybe a part of the New World near the Red Line where all seas somehow come together. So again, until Sanji found that place he hasn't fulfilled his dream. And since I think that would be BEHIND Laugh Tale, again I think Sanji is safe. Alternatively the All Blue is just a metaphor for something completely different but I can't hink about what.
Chopper: To cure all illness. Here too, this is something that takes time. Chopper is still only at the beginning of his career of being a doctor. Finding a magical cure for every illness that exists is not something that just happens. Logically he would need to talk with many other medical experts and together they might be able to find it. When and how and if that happens is impossible to say but again that would be something that would fit best in the time after reaching Laugh Tale.
Robin: To find the truth of the void century. Right now we figure that she will find that at the end of their travel, on Laugh Tale. Maybe it will happen earlier in case the Strawhats storm the World Government. Either way she will learn the truth. But that will not be the end to her. After learning the truth it's up to Robin to bring it to the world, to write it down, to teach, to make people understand that they can't erase history and that they have to learn from it. Again, that is something that takes time and so, truly fulfilling her dream.
Franky: To travel the world in the ship of his dreams. Again that is a vague dream. But it would mean to at least return to Water Seven, so that Sunny has traveled the world once. But even then it's only been a small part of the world and traveling the world would mean to visit at least every of the seas. So far, Sunny had been in two to four, depending on how much you take the movies into account. But to fulfill Franky's dream he needs to survive a bit longer and so does Sunny.
Brook: To meet Laboon again. This is simple. But for that Brook has to reach the end of the New World and then get over the Red Line again. What he will do after that is hard to tell. But again, the Red Line is behind Laugh Tale and so I'm sure Brook too, has to survive... even though he is already dead YOHOHO!
Jinbe: Equality between merfolk and humans. Again this is something that is no easy feat and will probably take more than one generation. Also it is not only up to him and more to Shirahoshi and the World Government. This dream is about teamwork too, but who could be a better ambassador for the merfolk than him? Losing Jinbe would be a huge backfire for the cause. Jinbe too is safe in my opinion. If you have reached the end of the post, let me tell you again my headcanon about FRobin: After the main adventure Franky and Robin return to Water Seven where Franky helps to turn W7 into a boat and after that is done, they travel to the island where Ohara used to be and there they rebuild the island. More people return and it again becomes a hub for scholars and history.

In Simple Joy and Peace (3/14/2021)
So I was thinking about LuSan and then the scene with Toriel where she’s pregnant with Asriel and something like this happened. I- I don’t know why but i mean, cute??
Although I didn't do it, I'm actually wondering if I should make a part 2 to this that contains the wedding and maybe them flashing back to when Sanji proposed to Luffy. I'm not sure tho. What do y'all think?
This story is on ao3 but you can also read it here by scrolling down past the summary!

In Simple Joy and Peace (Published: March/14/2021)
      Pairing: Luffy x Sanji
      Fandom: One Piece
     Trigger Warning: None.
Length: 2262 Words, 1 Chapter. Completed.
Summary: He chuckled, tightening his arm around Luffy to bring him a little closer, “Oh, i know what you mean now,” he lowered his voice to a more charming tone as he leaned forward to kiss the black haired man but then he pulled away slightly, grinning cheekily, “your birthday?”
“Sanji!” Luffy glared at him, propping himself up on his elbows as he slapped Sanji’s chest. “You know full well that tomorrow isn’t my birthday!”
Sanji only laughed and brought his angry love back into his hold, “I know, I know, I’m sorry,” he chuckled and this time kissed him for real, making Luffy melt against him instantly. He pulled back to stare into those chocolate brown eyes he’s come to adore and decided to quit teasing the poor man.
“It’s our wedding day,” he said softly, watching as those darling eyes widened and a blush dusted his husband-to-be’s cheeks.
Luffy smiled as if he had been reminded of the most happiest memory he ever had and that’s exactly how he felt. Tomorrow, in the evening, the two of them were going to be wed. They would husbands, bound together in eternal love, until death do they part. And even after death, Sanji would never let Luffy part from him.

“Sanji...” A voice whispered in the silence of the night. There was barely any sound in the wood paneled room except the soft breathing of the man in question and sound of a gentle breeze making the waves roll outside the window.
The man in question let out a hum but otherwise didn’t respond.
“Sanji...!” The voice said again, a little harsher this time.
“Yes?” Sanji finally responded, not even cracking open his eyes to peer at the man beside him, curled up into his chest, half naked and wide awake for some reason. It hadn’t been long since Sanji started to fall asleep but now, you could say that his plans of getting a good sleep were ruined.
The voice only giggled, “guess what day tomorrow is~”
Sanji smiled slightly. Adorable, he thought to himself. “Christmas?” he asked, playing hard to get, knowing full well that it was currently summer.
“Nooo...,” The man whined, a wide smile evident in his voice, “try again~”
The blond took in a deep breath, more awake now than before. He rolled over onto his side, gently placing a hand on his love’s hip, cracking opening his eyes. He saw the brown eyes of Luffy twinkling at him, expecting an answer. “Easter?”
“Sanji-”  Luffy clicked his tongue, pouting like a child, “it’s not a holiday!”
He chuckled, tightening his arm around Luffy to bring him a little closer, “Oh, i know what you mean now,” he lowered his voice to a more charming tone as he leaned forward to kiss the black haired man but then he pulled away slightly, grinning cheekily, “your birthday?”
It was strange to think about now. Tomorrow was the day they were going to be married, Sanji always thought when this day came, he’d be wed to a beautiful woman - someone like Nami or maybe exactly Nami-chan. But things didn’t turn out that way, he was quite happy about that.
It took a while but after his time on the ship with his determined, brave, admirable but aloof captain, he realized he was deeply in love with him. It took him even longer to finally confess to the boy and when he did, the result was unique to say the least.
“You love me?” Luffy had said that day, staring up at Sanji with confusion. “I always knew that, Sanji, I love you, too!” He beamed at the cook.
Sanji blushed but he realized quickly who he was confessing to. He shook his head, “no, Luffy, you don’t understand. I love you as a man to... well... another man.”
Luffy only looked even more confused. He tilted his head ever so slightly, “so...,” he started, “like me and Ace?”
Quickly, Sanji shook his head, “no, not like a brother.”
“Like me and Zoro?” Luffy asked, trying his hardest to understand. It wasn’t like he was rejecting his feelings, Sanji could tell that Luffy just honestly did not understand. It was to be expected, this was Luffy he was talking to. Sanji maybe should’ve planned this out a little better.
“No, not like captain and first mate,” Sanji shook his head, letting out a little sigh. How should he explain this?
Luffy let out a hum, his brow furrowing in concentration as he tried to understand it.
“You know how I look at Nami?” Sanji asked. It was weird example to use and he felt uncomfortable using it, but it was the only way it would click for Luffy.
      He nodded, “yes.”
“And how I look at Robin?”
      Again, Luffy nodded.
“That’s how I look at you too.” Sanji said, “expect with you... it’s actual feelings. I actually do love you and want to be with you.”
Luffy tilted his head, folding his arms as he thought over what Sanji was saying. “So you... you think of me as a woman?” he raised an eyebrow, really trying to understand.
Sanji couldn’t help but chuckle. He was getting closer but not quite there yet. He sighed, leaning down a bit so his eyes were level with Luffy’s. “Listen. You know how a man sometimes falls in love with a woman, and as they fall deeper in love with each other, they get married?”
Luffy nodded and Sanji continued, “that’s how I feel about you. But not because I see you as a woman. I see you as you and I love you.”
The aloof captain thought about it for a second before his eyes widened in realization and his cheeks turned a deep red. Ah, he finally got it. Sanji grinned even though he intended to keep a serious expression on his face. It’s just the result of it finally clicking for Luffy was a lot cuter than he thought it would be.
“O-Oh...,” Luffy responded, clutching on his hat to hide his eyes, “I-I see.”
“You don’t have to return my feelings you know,” Sanji said quickly, not wanting to make the poor captain uncomfortable, “it’s okay if you don’t feel the same.”
“A-Ah, no, that’s not it,” Luffy stammered and Sanji felt a little hopeful from his words. “N-No, it’s just... I’m not experienced with those kinds of things, Sanji. Literally not experienced with anything in that department.”
He tilted his hat back so Sanji could see his flustered face, his eyes glued to the floor as he tried to explain his thoughts, “I don’t know why I never really- like you- with those things.”
Sanji knew in this moment he was supposed to be serious and understanding. He understood what Luffy was trying to say. He didn’t feel the concept of romantic or sexual attraction the way some people did, definitely not as much as Sanji did.
But Sanji couldn’t stop himself from just melting from the sight of a shy, flustered Luffy. It was look he had never seen on Luffy and he loved it. However, now wasn’t the time for that and he knew it. “That’s okay,” he said honestly with a smile, “you’re a little different when it comes to things like that and that’s okay. You’ll learn as you go through relationships with or without me and as time goes by, you might understand it a bit more. And if you don’t that’s fine too.”
Luffy’s blush deepened as he shifted on his feet, glancing away from Sanji’s kind words. “T-Thank you for saying that.”
“It’s nothing to thank me for, it’s an honest statement,” Sanji said.
Luffy cleared his throat, a brief silence coming over them before he went back to the topic at hand, “I know that someday I might get it but the thing is right now, I don’t. I don’t really understand my feelings for you. I can’t tell you if it’s love or something else.”
“Do you think you could clarify it?”
The captain let out a hum, glancing away from Sanji’s brown eyes for a second before responding, “It’s... different than how i feel about everyone else,” Luffy said. He stumbled over his words, explaining slowly but carefully about how he felt, “It’s not like with Ace. You would make a good brother but I just don’t... see you that way.”
Sanji chuckled. Always so nice. “I see, that’s fine. Do you see me like Zoro?”
Luffy took another second to think before slowly shaking his head, “no... I don’t think so. Zoro is amazing,” he chuckled, “but... he’s my friend and I think that’s it.”
      Sanji nodded, “how about Nami?”
“Nami?” Luffy frowned.
“Like how I look at Nami. Is it anything like that with me?”
Luffy paused, tilting his head again in thought, “I don’t think so. I’m not sure what it is, to be honest.”
“I see,” Sanji said, his heart dropping a little bit. Maybe Luffy really did see him as a friend and just a friend.
“But...,” Luffy continued, “I like talking to you more than the others. I like being near you more than the others. I think you’re so cool and fun to be around that I like spending time with you more than... the others.” he blushed before clearing his throat, meeting Sanji’s eyes, “but I don’t know if that’s love or just... if I like you a lot as a friend.”
Sanji blinked, mulling over what Luffy said. It could be possible... maybe... “I see,” he answered, “well to be honest, from what you’ve told me, I think I am someone you’re interested in.”
“R-Really?” Luffy stammered, his eyes widening slightly.
“However,” Sanji continued, “like you, I don’t know if that’s love or just friendly admiration.”
“Oh...” Luffy said, looking a little sad from that outcome.
Sanji smiled, “but that doesn’t mean we can’t be in a relationship.” Luffy looked confused for a moment before Sanji continued, “most of the time, Luffy, when two people get into a relationship, there’s a mutual basis of love but it’s so unclear and weak that that’s why people go into a relationship in the first place. If we both knew for sure that we were madly in love with each other, why not skip everything and get married right here, right now?”
He leaned up, “love is the foundation of all relationships and when you want to spend your lives together, you need to make sure that foundation is strong. That’s why people date first. It’s so they can build upon that foundation or learn that the foundation can’t get stronger. Dating is how you learn if you truly love someone.”
“So with all of that being said,” he cleared his throat, “do you want to try a relationship with me? We can go as slow as you want and if you ever decide that it doesn't work, we can part ways.”
Luffy glanced at the ground for a minute, thinking about it. He was silent for a long time before looking back up at the blond, “I... I think I’d like to.”
Sanji grinned, “okay. Then as of today, we are officially dating.”
      Luffy chuckled, blushing wildly, “c-cool!”
He was going to be awkward about this, Sanji could already tell but he didn’t care. It was adorable.
“That means no flirting or looking at other ladies. Or guys,” Sanji said seriously, earning a playful glare from Luffy.
“Oi, oi, why are you warning me? You’re the one who needs to be careful now. I’ll get upset if you look at anyone else,” he grinned and already the new relationship was starting to feel like it fitted right into place with how they usually were.
They took things slow. Very slow. It took almost six years before Luffy could finally tell Sanji that he loved him the same way that Sanji felt about him. And that was when Sanji asked Luffy to marry him and now, here they were, in bed, nearly an hour after midnight, excited for tomorrow.
Luffy curled further against his side, nuzzling his nose against Sanji’s, his eyes twinkling like a night sky during a meteor shower, “correct,” he said, softly, “tomorrow is the day that I become Luffy Vinsmoke!”
“Oi, I thought tomorrow was the day I become Sanji D. Monkey,” The blond chuckled. Truth be told, neither of them could really decide on a last name. They tried to figure out what would fit before finally choosing to not take eithers. Last names weren’t really that important anyway. What really mattered was the marriage itself.
“Nooo,” Luffy whined, “I want to be Luffy Vinsmoke. Luffy... D. Vinsmoke,” He giggled, “and then you can be Sanji D. Vinsmoke. Genius idea, yeah?”
Sanji laughed, placing a kiss on Luffy’s temple and another on his nose, “yes, very genius idea.”
Luffy laughed as Sanji placed more kisses on his face, wrapping his strong arms around his thin waist. He melted against his warmth, feeling a wave of peace and comfort roll over him.
“I’m so excited, I can’t sleep,” Luffy said honestly, “I wish it already was tomorrow.”
“Oh?” Sanji hummed, his voice lowering into a more sultry down. Uh oh. You give Sanji an inch, he’ll take a mile and that’s exactly what he was going to do. “Need help getting tired~?” he asked with a mischievous grin, now trailing his kisses down to the rubber man’s neck.
His husband-to-be only giggled, carding his fingers through the blond’s hair, “Maaaybe~” he said back with an equally mischievous tone of voice.
He smiled as he pressed his lips firmly against Sanji’s, nearly purring at the taste of him. He couldn’t wait to be married to this man and spend the rest of their lives just like this.
      In simple joy and peace.
