A Valentine Engagement

Premise: Cassie and Ethan's big news makes for front page headlines in the society papers.

Book: Open Heart (post series) Pairing: Ethan Ramsey x F!MC (Cassie Valentine) Format: Edit/Manip + News

I've been wanting to do an engagement photoshoot for Ethan & Cassie for ages (her family insisted). I originally thought I'd commission artwork, but decided to make a manip instead and write a society news story.

The Valentine Clan is expanding by one and it’s a Rhode Island affair.

Newport royalty, Asher and Myra Valentine, announced the engagement of their granddaughter, Dr. Cassandra (Cassie) Elizabeth Valentine (31) — daughter of Robert and Olivia Valentine — to Providence-born Dr. Ethan Jonah Ramsey (39), son of Mr. Alan Ramsey.

The couple met four years ago while working at Boston’s Edenbrook Hospital, where Dr. Valentine is currently Head of Diagnostics and Dr. Ramsey is Chief of Medicine.

By all accounts it was a fairytale romance and now a whirlwind wedding. The couple plans to wed in an intimate ceremony with close family and friends on the grounds of the Valentine Estate on Oceanside in July.

Even though their permanent residence is in Arlington, VA along with The Hudson Group global headquarters, the Valentines have been part of the Newport establishment since the 1800s, owning one of the few legacy homes still in the original family’s care.

This is where I realised that I should switch Jules and Lassie

So Jules gets killed via discus and Lassie begs Shawn to kill him for accidentally killing something sacred 👀👀👀

Cyprus died because he shot something, Lassie would totally go hunting and accidentally shoot the wrong deer

(For those who don't know, Cyprus was a man Apollo loved, he loved him so much he gifted him a sacred deer but Cyprus accidentally shot and killed it while hunting. Unable to live with the guilt, he begged his lover, Apollo, to kill him. So Apollo turned him into a tree, and that's how Cyprus Trees were made)

Its the same strong sense of justice that made him a cop, that made him break Shawn's tape, that gets him killeddd

Justice too strong to let himself get away with shooting the sacred deer Shawn gave himmmmmm

Also Juliet turning into a flower and Lassie turning into a tree just sounds right

It's like a movie where everything is perfect and then the wife gets hit by a car and now everything sucks

It just...matches

(For those who don't know, Hyacinth was a beautiful prince who fell in love with Apollo, they dated but Zephyrus, the west wind, was also in love with Hyacinth and while Apollo was teaching Hyacinth to play discus, it's like frisby but with a stone discus instead of plastic, Zephyrus decided that if he couldn't have the prince no one could, so he blew a gust of wind to make the discus strike Hyacinth in the head, killing him. Despite being the god of medicine, Apollo couldn't heal his lover, so he turned him into a flower. This is why the Hyacinth flower exists. And to this day, Apollo doesn't know it wasn't his fault that Hyacinth died.)

(There are alternate versions of the story where Zephyrus wasn't involved and it was wholey Apollo's fault...)

23. What would it take to break their trust?

Abby: Oooh good one. I think hurting the people she cares about or are important to her. Abby will put up with a lot and forgive a lot for her own abandonment issue reasons (much like Aegon, tbh), but if you do something to someone she cares for, she's done with you. Which I think is kinda sweet. Abby doesn't dislike people very much, but when she doesn't like you, it's a big deal. Like Abby will put up with Cassandra's behavior towards her, but she does not fucking like how Cassandra was dismissive/how she spoke to Helaena, or how she speaks and treats Floris. Abby enters a situation overly optimistic, tbh, and will trust you until you give her a reason not to, which in of itself is a very interesting discussion on how Abby does and DOESN'T actually trust people.

Myranda: It actually takes a lot more to earn Myra's trust than it is to lose it, because it's so difficult to gain. Hurting her is the way to do it. She's a feral animal. It takes a lot to gain that trust, and it can be gone in an instant.

25. Have they ever acted on their intrusive thoughts before? What was the outcome?

God I love this question. Let's ponder.

Abby: I think so definitely. Her intrusive thoughts about the safety of her loved ones definitely effect her and how she interacts with the world, as well as her own safety that also ties into her abandonment issues. While I wouldn't say Abby has low self-esteem or is down on herself, she doesn't prioritize herself. But as for any sort of violent or self-harm related thought, no she hasn't.

Myranda: I genuinely have no idea! This is something really interesting for me to consider. If I had to pick one, problem something self-harm and self-worth/esteem related.

26. Do they want to be remembered when they're gone? What would they like to be remembered as?

Abby: Abby doesn't want to be forgotten about, period, which is a motivation in her relationships. She's focused on a personal level rather than a public level. She wants to be remembered as someone who was good to have in one's life, that she is missed, that she was wanted and valuable.

Myranda: Myranda doesn't want you to remember her while she's living, let alone dead. She would like to be missed, but doesn't think that's actually going to happen.
