Love that Armand has always been a tech nerd, even in the 40s
When Santiago said they didn’t need the projector for Sam existentialist play he immediately went “…whAT DO YOU MEAN NOT USING A PROJECTOR?????? THE PROJECTOR IS THE WHOLE POINT”

Me explaining, once more, that being interested in a particular historical figure or era does NOT necessarily equate to supporting it ‼️ Creators shouldn’t have to make a piece of work “clean” just because some readers may get uncomfortable. If anything, we should be promoting the exploration of uncomfortable topics- proper research and portrayal should be praised. Bring back historical and media literacy.

i have decided for myself that cody's special interest is historical space travel in the same way the age of sail and ocean liners is for us. PLEASE ask him about the deep space crash of 1200 BBY. or that time a distressed freighter disappeared inside a gas giant never to be seen again. he knows everything about that one line of cargo ships that used to supply the galaxy's frontiers way back when today's mid-rim was still considered an unknown region. oh i see the vision

Give me them interlinked riveted metal rings 💍 ⛓️🥴🥰😍
Sorry but I guess it’s due to soooo much crazy fantasy plate armor and media giving more attention to plate armor medieval periods than earlier—I have plate burnout (never really was the biggest fan to begin with)
Also I could’ve added more types but felt lazy
I want more movies and games in chainmail eras.
Transitional period armors mixing the two are cool too tho.

Continuation from the sketch. Not sure if I like the tunic being more elaborate than the canon version, but I‘m happy with the colours now (though I‘ll probably tweak the tunic again). I think the freckles being lighter than his skin is kinda cute, and if I do make him forest-themed, I could maybe go in a deer sort of direction.
Close-up of the face for the details:

Permission to be a nerdy expert and deeply thirsty for two minutes.

I am begging - begging - fashion writers et al to realise that “Victorian” is a specific time period and place, not an entire century. And if you must insist on the Darcy comparison (about which more anon), then recognise that Pride and Prejudice was published in 1813, aka the Georgian/Regency period. (Victoria wouldn’t become queen for almost two decades.)
And that being said: I stand by my read of the whole look being far more 1830s European Romantic.
Now that I’ve got my nerdy twitching out of the way: I would like to hear more about the whole “making a shirt that’s nicely oversized and designed to be opened like that” design process please and thank you. 😘

The Elseworlds Batman: Digital Justice one-shot was published with a pull date of April 1990. The computer generated comic, a novelty at the time, took place in the 21st century. In order to fight the Joker virus developed decades before by the Joker, James Gordon II (grandson of James Gordon) became the new Batman. He was aided by the Batcomp, Bobby Chang as the new Robin, and a robot version of Alfred. Gata, clone of Mayer Madame X, became the new Catwoman. The characters were created by Pepe Morino Casaras and Doug Murray. ("Batman: Digital Justice" DC Comic Event)

One of the things I like best about history research is just the detective work of it. For example, 19th century, in one letter chopin wrote to his friend, he says something to the effect of, and I am deeply paraphrasing here: whew I sure am glad you're 40 miles away since you're so mad at me. Now chopin is in Warsaw when he's writing the letter, and his friend is in poturzyn. That's 320km or almost 200 miles. So I'm sitting there like ok either somebody is not where they're supposed to be, or chopin is measuring miles differently.
Turns out he's straight up measuring miles differently. He used the russian/prussian/austrian measure of a mile, which is about 7.5km as opposed to the 1.6km mile. 320km is about 42 of these miles. Really goes to show u can't assume anything works the same way you're used to.
Also, so funny to me that the 3 empires each had slightly different measures (7.58km vs 7.53 vs 7.47) that are nonetheless essentially the same unless u want to be really annoying about it, which is such a microcosm of the partitions overall lol

Happy super belated birthday to me (and hooray for hoarding gift cards)!
I’ve been wanting to read Fred Anderson’s Crucible of War for months now, so I figured now was a good time to snag a copy.
What I’m most happy about however, is now owning roughly half of The Papers of Alexander Hamilton, with buying this particular independent bookstore out of their last copies of the PAH (vols. 12-13 and 15)!! 😁
