Boarders is so good this should’ve been on Netflix so more people could know about it not they they would watch as it’s not yt lead show and don’t have a single main white character, when it’s usually only just 1-2 or half black token characters in white show anyways all the characters are so good and they have 4 black boys so mf different from each other you know ain’t no one but a black person write these characters they to good and not ur stereotypical sh*t on Netflix or the others on other hand if it was on Netflix you know they would cancel that sh*t faster then the speed of light Netflix cancels anything that has black teens being anything but gangster dr*g pushers bullies ect in Netlfix a black teen show can only exist if they are teens like in top boy like they did zero a show about a black teen in Italy living life trying to save his neighbourhood having superpowers and being manga drawer fan of anime like they really said black characters/teens being anything but gangster dealers cu*t that sh*t out now how did we even green light that sh*t! Teenage angst in the zombie apocalypse

attention fans of Daybreak on Netflix:

if you're looking for another piece of media about teenagers ruling the wasteland because all the adults have become zombies, I HIGHLY recommend a duology of books: Survive the Streets and the sequel Survive the City by Alex Timothy

the books are very different tonally than Daybreak and don't feature the same 4th wall breaking meta humor, but they still follow teenagers trying to survive and create a new order. they actually are still at risk to the virus as well and adults are still around, but the crux of both stories is a high school student turned gang leader using his rich family's resources to form a militia of teenagers that guard neighborhoods and deliver supplies to people. the first book is about a pair of brothers and their different relationships with him, while in the second he becomes a point of view character along with his twin sister in the nearby city

the books also feature a slowburn enemies to lovers gay romance, and the romance aspect is very light in the first book, but develops through the second and is VERY good imo. both books also feature complicated and messy familial relationships, intense twin rivalries, gore and violence, a rich boy who is so down bad, strong friendships, and ultimately hope for tomorrow

the books are absolutely fantastic and while they're not quite the same as Daybreak, I was struck with the similarities while reading, and since the books seem to be relatively unknown so I thought I might do my part and spread the word out to people who like stories about teens in a zombie apocalypse

i don't know if anyone remembers that teen apocalypse show Daybreak that Netflix cancelled after one season but im rewatching it while i wait for Yellowjackets s2 and i just transcribed turbo's entire on-screen-text speech from episode 6 and im going a little insane. i love him sm

anyway here it is:

And it’s starting to smell like foot cheese. Again: I SEE YOU. A quarterback can’t make epic plays without knowing where every single lineman and running back and receiver is. Same here, with you. My job is impossible unless every lieutenant and soldier and kitchen scut right on down the line is is doing their fucking job. Vibe me? Am I getting through? Well, guess what? Y’all betrayed me. Why? I didn’t build all this so you fucks could just take it from me. No way. You don’t own this. The second you do is the second you make it toxic. I’m reminded of the immortal words of that guy who said whoha in Any Given Sunday. [HE GOES ON TO QUOTE THE ENTIRE SPEECH. IT’S LIKE… REALLY LONG.] Yeah. That’s right. I memorized that whole speech. Took me a whole year. I also memorized the speeches from Hoosiers and Remember The Titans and Rocky IV and Cool Runnings and The Mighty Ducks and She’s The Man and High School Musical and Friday Night Lights, both the movie and the television series. So I know about inspiration. I’ll tell you this story. It’s something I didn’t understand at first but now I’m coming around to it. It’s a story my dad told me. There was this guy who used to make vases. I don’t know what they call that? A vaser? Maybe? No. That’s wrong. A sculptor. I guess that could be right. A potter? Maybe a potter? I wonder if that’s why the kid is named Harry Potter? Because he made magic. Like made it. What was I saying? Potter? The vase! Right. Those vases were beautiful things. And check this out… the guy would wrap and unfired vase in horse hair — then put it in his kiln. The horse hair would burn off and leave these black, charred scars. But to get the horse hair, the guy would have to pluck it straight from a stallion's tail. How baller is that? And every time he did, that stallion would buck. The vase-maker, vaser, potter — he was pretty good at dodging the kick, cause he knew it was coming. But more than once, the horse would get him. Knocking him in the face and shoulder. Nasty shit. He still had rolling shards of broken bone you could feel, where the horse shattered his clavicle. But Christ in a halo, it was worth the pain. Those vases, man. I know you think I’m a dumb jock, but I can appreciate a thing like that. Well, I look out at you all, and I think that’s what I have here. You’re the bucking horse. I’m the sculptor. And the beautiful vase is all this, Glendale High. Look what we have. But you fuckers broke the vase. And I’m not sure we can ever glue this thing back together. But I’m gonna try. I’m really gonna fucking try.

you ever think about how wesley is literally the exact big brother figure that angelica wanted in josh and how she was just looking in the wrong place because wesley actually understands what its like to feel like an outsider and unwanted and the desperation to keep the person that made you feel wanted and the great lengths you go to for that person even though you know what youre doing is wrong or are you like normal

Dear @netflix,

Maybe... just hear me out... instead of canceling great shows that we actually enjoy watching (Shadow and Bone, The Order, Sense8, Santa Clarita Diet, Daybreak, Spinning Out, AJ and the Queen, Altered Carbon, Jupiter's Legacy, Cowboy Bepop, Raising Dion, The Imperfects - to name a FEW)

...just stop churning shows that get bad ratings (The Goop Lab, stuff like Devil in Ohio, Hype House and Too Hot to Handle and The I-Land especially.)

Just stop trading well-written and produced shows for boring and overworked bullshit.

Daybreak needed a season two. I keep thinking about how we'll never know what Ms. Crumble was and how she survived the rocket's flames in the last episode. Episode ten.

In that episode, she told Angelica she would turn herself into mist to survive the rocket's firing. Episodes earlier, she tried to demonstrate her supposed ability to the others, and she couldn't do it. I have so many questions.

Another thing is the fact that Ms. Crumble could physically do things that other ghoulies couldn't. Like open her mouth extremely wide.

I wanted to see her get cured of her condition and be human again. Especially since she was pretty awesome in those flashbacks and the sitcom fantasy scenes.

Netflix cancels all the great shows. I really wanted to see Daybreak have a proper beginning, middle, and end. It was so good.
