Outcaste Nakshatras: The Outsiders (part 3)

Here's part 1 and part 2

The more I study Mleccha nakshatra natives and the art they make, the more I understand how deeply lonely it is to have a Mleccha nak (Bharani, Ashlesha, Vishaka, Shravana) and I really feel for them. To live your whole life feeling misunderstood and othered is so difficult.

The movie Edward Scissorhands is a really good example of the "outcast" trope. The titular character is played by Johnny Depp who has Ashlesha Rising and his love interest is played by Winona Ryder who has Mercury (amatyakaraka) & Venus (atmakaraka) in Vishaka

I find Outcaste nak pairing very interesting because obviously you only feel like you belong/truly feel accepted in the presence of another Outcast.

Sidharth Malhotra, Vishaka Moon is married to Kiara Advani, who has Mercury & Venus (atmakaraka) in Ashlesha (if you have 2 or more planets in the same nak that energy is very concentrated even if its not your big 3)

You can see how the "outcast" themes were present in Kareena's life even though she's a very privileged nepo baby

But they've been married for 10+ yrs and have 2 kids and are as happy as ever.

Expanding on the outcast tropes, Shahid's parents separated when he was young and he saw little of his biological father. He had to work very hard for very long to break into the industry and even now, he's not really given his due as an actor.

their marriage seems hella toxic to me ngl BUT they've both had similar childhoods.

So they had a really fcked up marriage that I won't get into but they were both people who felt like outcasts in their lives. Sridevi grew up with a stepfather and was pushed into acting by her mother when she was 3-4 years old (she's like an Indian Judy Garland tbh) who deprived her of formal education and a normal life so that she'd be the family cash cow. Being South Indian, she also found it hard to fit in among Bollywood folks as she initially spoke neither Hindi nor English. Boney's the ugly duckling of his family and his younger brother is one of the most famous/iconic actors ever, he had to become a movie producer since his brothers became actors and his father (who was a movie producer) thought it would be better if he stayed behind the scenes. themes of exclusion and outcast-ness crop up in their lives and in the lives of all the people I mention here.

Lady Bird is a good example of a movie about a female teenage outcast. The titular character is played by Saoirse Ronan, who has Bharani Moon

Recently I came across the content creator, Alana Lintao who often makes shorts about social behaviour. This one in particular stood out to me because its literally about one person being excluded by a group of friends or being treated like "the other".

Alana plays the excluded friend in this short as well. She has Bharani Sun, Swati Moon and Mercury in Revati amatyakaraka (Swati & Revati are both Shudra naks)

If your ill/injured she forces you to stay in bed as long as it takes until you’ve made a full recovery. I feel she’d have a lot of medical knowledge so that helps ;D

• He loves having you as his sidekick, NOW IT'S LIKE ALL OF YOUR MISSIONS ARE DATES!

• Cartman literally throws a fit anytime he has a mission you can't go on, he wants you there SO FUCKING BAD but he'll never tell you that

• He's weirdly protective of you but it's really nice (this totally isn't based off me talking to the Cartman character ai)

• You definitely bring snacks for you guys during patrol and I swear to god his pupils are hearts I'm not even kidding

• In my opinion, patrols and stakeouts with Cartman would be the best

• Out of all of them, he's the one you do the most with. Every other night there's some sort of crazy bullshit y'all deal with

• Most of the crazy bullshit being because Cartman caused it but shhhhh we don't talk about it

• Being his sidekick is a soild 7/10, he can get a lil selfish but he's really fun

Kyle, Human Kite

• Kyle's excited but more nervous than anything, he doesn't have anything to worry about tho!

• Y'all are a pretty good duo, even though you don't normally go on missions where y'all have to fight

• You guys work more with damage control, I mean kites are pretty fragile and mans is a human kite alien so like

• Not to say he's weak, he's far from it actually! He just has pretty low health and stuff ya know?

• HOWEVER! You're a pretty good healer so it just makes sense that y'all are always near each other on the battlefield, plus sidekick so yeah

• Not only do y'all usually do damage control but also a pretty good amount of recon

• Half of the time you guys end up getting caught and have to run away so you get to be on Kyle's back as y'all are gliding the hell out of there

• Its like, surprisingly fun to be gliding. The wind in your hair and the excitement is the best

• Anyways, because y'all don't see combat too often the patrols are really calm. Sometimes even a little boring but you don't mind, neither of you are getting hurt and that's all that matters

• 9/10, it's kinda boring sometimes but it's pretty nice to be with your bf. At least y'all don't get hurt and can goof off during patrol

Stan, Toolshed

• Stan's kinda indifferent about it, he's like "cool you're joining me... why?"

• Don't get me wrong, he thinks it's cool you wanna join him! He just doesn't get it too much, isn't it gonna be boring for you?

• Well, ya know what? Now he has someone to spend sleepless nights with when he's on patrol!

• Ngl he underestimated how much he would enjoy having you by his side, he's not lonely anymore AND SOMEHOW HE DIDN'T NOTICE HOW LONELY HE WAS TILL YOU JOINED HIM

• Ahhh, imagine if you had tool themed super powers too?? Y'all share some of his dads power tools and have to awkwardly try fixing them when they somehow break during battle

• Anyways, Stan thinks you're the best sidekick ever and he loves having you around. Having you as his sidekick is really fun overall, he wouldn't trade you for literally any other

Kenny, Mysterion

• Part of Kenny is over the moon! The other part, not so much

• He doesn't want you to get hurt while you're his sidekick so he's probably a lot more careful on his missions than he usually is

• There's definitely a lot of flirting between y'all tho, he gets SO cocky when he's Mysterion. Its one of his favorite things to get you flustered and flirt with you like, mid battle

• He doesn't die as much as he used to now that you're there so that's nice! He can't bare having you see him die tbh

• Y'all often patrol more dangerous parts of town so you guys see combat REALLY often

• I mean it's not Kenny's fault that homeless methheads and rednecks keep trying to kill you guys. It's whatever, he's good at fighting and so are you!

• You are by no means delicate, no matter how much he tries to protect you from all the battle you still end up seeing it anyways

• He kinda thinks it's hot that you're so good at fighting, he's literally like "damn bbg, you can beat my ass any day"

• Kenny never gets used to you flirting back with him, he practically short circuits. You think it's cute how he can flirt so easily but get so flustered when it's reciprocated

• In my opinion, being his sidekick is 8.5/10 because of all the fighting and flirting

Butters, Professor Chaos

• Omg Butters is ecstatic! He didn't know how you knew he was Professor Chaos but he doesn't dwell on it too much

• Now you guys can bring all the chaos your little heart desires to South Park and he's so happy about it

• First South Park, then WORLD DOMINATION!

• You're not exactly one of his henchmen and he doesn't have the heart to call you his sidekick, you're something higher than henchman?

• Does it really matter? He's gonna bring chaos to the world with you by his side and that's all that really matters in his opinion

• Every time Cartman and his hero team beat him up after foiling his plans you always end up having to patch him up which is kinda annoying but it's fun to scheme with Butters during that time

• He's so glad to have you by his side, plus now that you're here his plans actually succeed sometimes!

A ship I have with said character: I got a few. Staroba is an obvious one, but I also ship Beer Yuri (Ceroba x Dina), too. IDK why, I just like the appeal of a depressed lady falling in love with the gal who serves her booze. Also, nothing wrong with the canon pairing of her and Chujin.

A random headcanon: I always had the idea of Ceroba knowing some form of MMA and generally being an aggressive bruiser when she was younger. To build off of that, I imagine kid/teen Ceroba was very quick to violence with a very bad temper in general, but still had a good heart deep down. Her hot bloodedness died down as she matured and settling down with Chujin helped her work on her more extreme reactions. Of course, her loosing Chujin (and later Kanako) would end up leaving her regressing back to a more emotionally vulnerable state, hence the Ceroba that we see by Undertale Yellow's storyline

General Opinion over said character: Well, the fact that she's my pfp should make things obvious. Not to sound like a broken record, but the fandom really just does not understand her as a character. Yeesh, first Alphys and Asgore and now Ceroba. Why do all of my favorite UTDR characters have to be misinterpreted and overhated by the fanbase?

A random headcanon: I like the idea of her being an amputee and needing prosthetic legs. I imagine them being put together with the help of Chujin and her having to regularly maintain them. Being the ditz she is tho, she sometimes forgets to tighten them, resulting in them disconnecting while she's up and about and her falling face first onto the ground.

General Opinion over said character: I love her! She's cute, friendly, and absolutely knows how to whoop ass when the time calls for it. She's great!

OKOKOHHHHHHOKOK BUCKLE IN. YOU’RE GONNA GET THE FULL DESIGN PROCESS

I struggled the most with Soul ngl. I couldn’t really think of anything I could add that would differentiate him from the fanon standard. I’m a lil upset I couldn’t think of something more original, but nonetheless he turned out quite lovely !!!

I started with the color picking. I was very insistent on making everyone’s colors proportional to eachother. The main colors should have (about) the same saturation/brightness, contrasting colors that are the exact opposite hue of the main color, respective black/grey/white values (soul’s ‘grey’ color is more teal bc color theory but yea), shit like that i guess. The final palette is on the right, it’s what I use today.

Soul never got fully fleshed out concept sheets like the other two. I guess my brain just filled in the rest of the gaps without having to draw them. (I apologize for never finishing these btw. It’s been months man. I hope the blorbo doodles in the corner make up for it) The second image was done a lot later than the first btw. Idk if that matters but I’m bringing it up anyway.

His fit inspo came mostly from Pinterest. I just compiled a bunch of shit I think he’d wear. Plus a majestic cape because it makes him look plenty more epic.

OK MOVING ON. I decided that his main gimmick would be my take on his shaded side. The idea was to make it represent dissonance, and how it affects Soul. The shadow is basically just this fuckin void. It has no physical form, and you can just stick your hand in there if you’d like (he sometimes stores the trident there). However I wouldn’t recommend it. The feeling is indescribable, but very uncomfortable. The void has a life of it’s own in a way. It does not stay confined within the Soul’s physical form (or in my case, his lineart). When conflict is at a high, like, tridential regicide level high, the void will get very close to fully overtaking him. It only fully disappears once true concord is reached, and starts reforming when the next cycle starts.

Also, the mask !!!!! Throughout cacophony, Soul is having a huge fucking identity crisis and shit. He doesn’t really have a physical organ like the other two. He doesn’t know why he’s here, or what he did to deserve this, or why nothing he’s trying works, and just. What is he if he’s failing at his main purpose???? I think because of this, he doesn’t like showing his face around the other two. He needs to assert is power, and thinks that showing his face will make him come of softer and less of someone to obey, if that makes sense. He only really takes it off when he’s alone in his room or pocket dimension (still trying to decide if they have a mock ‘apartment’, or ever did at one point). But once he has the character arc in Two Wuv, it permanently comes off !!! Wahoo!!!!!!! If only the next cycle weren’t to start, resetting his newfound self image to its previous state !!!!!!!!!!

This image was very helpful for designing the tine shapes!! Guess which one is Soul’s !!!!!! (Spoiler alert, im pretty sure its either the 2nd or 6th ones in the 2nd row. However i genuinely dont remember. This may not even be the right image)

Soul also has a strange tie with eyes. If the halves have pissed him off to the point of no return, he does this fuckin analog horror stare that freaks the shit out of them (although heart cant see he remembers it very well. Plus, he just k n o w s that extra eye is there). I haven’t really played around with this, but I like the idea of a freakishly absurd amount of eyes hidden within the shadow. I should maybe like. Draw that sometime.

Also, expect a Soil patch update in the future!! I’d like to make his fangs more deranged, and maybe add an earth pattern to the cape. Right now, he has no symbols on him that represent him in the astronomy metaphor.

Garfield Demons and Angels AU

Ok Starting off with Jon Arbuckle (Satan Arbuckle, Demon Jon, he goes by many names lol-)

He was the first to fall and be casted away from Heaven, He is ofc "evil". He made Hell the was it is and has made his own empire where all demons and sinners live. His Demons are pretty much created in his own image (sort of, Sinners can be demons but not in an epic way). The sinners of Hell are to YA know "suffer", The way sinners live in constant suffering is by their own sin that they have lived by their whole life. Meaning they either suffer by one of the seven deadly sins they have sinned by until death. The sinners will look a little different and will only look based on their deadly sin. If a sinner is up to Jon's standards they can work along side him and become his friend. Tho You have to fit every standard to him. Otherwise you don't fit the bill and you're nothing less to him like any other sinner.

Anyway, back to Jon- He is kinda goofy as always, a little more serious, Is the embodiment of all the deadly sins and lacks empathy for sinners. He does make deals and lives off of his Demons services as well. Oh did I forget to mention that Sleep paralysis demons are made from his image as well? It'll be hard to tell since you'll only see them in the dark.

Jon does usually feed on fear, pain and agony from sinners both in Hell and in the real world when his demons are doing his bidding.

OK- Now Lyman (The Fallen Angel)

Lyman of course used to be an angel until he made a mistake that would eventually make him fall and twist his imagery. And ngl I have not figured that out yet in detail how it went down but long story short Lyman made a deal with Jon without knowing it was actually him. So Lyman at one point figured it out but it was already too late. Lyman's soul was sold to Jon and it didn't take long for the other angles to find out and banish Lyman from heaven and made him fall down in hell where Jon kept him forever.  The eye's on Lyman do not belong to him, the eyes are Jon's. Jon is always watching Lyman and has control over him.

GODfield (God Garfield)

Of course, why wouldn't Garfield be God???

GODfeild is the big G himself and is of course Lazy and only judges, tho sometimes he's so lazy to even do that so he has the other people in charge to do that for him. Nermal used to be in charge of that but of course that went very horribly, (GODfeild made an attempt to banish Nermal from Heaven but for some reason that wasn't working so Nermal remains in Heaven, Nermal's new Job is basically looking after everyone and sending GODfeild back reports if he's not too lazy to look at them or hear about them. OH- uh I forgot to mention the most important part, He eats a lot too.

Artificer

This is a costume of arti as Artemis from Hades. I love goddess Artemis and i thought it fitted arti pretty well, as well as hunter tho i had a different idea for them. I wanted to experiment a bit with maybe just being inspired by the Hades version, with some sort of creature bone/skull mask/helmet, as well as adding a bit more flare. I love Hades god designs, but Artemis was always my least fave ngl. tho i wasn't able to experiment much and stuck around to the Hades version due to time and not having many good ideas.

Enot

Im so glad the Once-ler Enot got through and the other shown costume ideas i love em so much. I love joke characters, but i'm clearly isn't the best at designing them heh. This is gamer Enot with all the cringe gamer merch, dressed up as their computer having an LED gamer keyboard and mouse. Maybe now looking at it i should have added maybe some consol (tho they struck me as a religious pc gamer) or some LOL or other popular game merch to sell the gamer look. Maybe also add some doritos and mountain dew.

I for the longest time could not decide, if i wanted to put gourm as dt asgore or ut asgore. Because it had to be asgore no questions asked, i mean look at the guy! I choose ut cause the way asgore is treated in dt just kill me internally. Also ut asgore family is much more functional. For the pups I wanted them to look like they’ve been face painted. Idk if chara and asriel really work for their personality, but i didnt really have any other idea with them. Also the one as asriel could’ve brought those like galaxy swords and some cool stuff from asriel dreemurr fight.

Also i wanted the drawing to resemble those monarch painted family portraits, so that’s why this style.

I didnt have any good ideas for hunter, until i was scrolling through my reblogs and saw puss in boots the last wish fanart. It worked so well with the hunter's personality i had to!

Monk and the lizards

Monk was always supposed to be a pokemon trainer. It works so well with them. At first i thought to give them Reds outfit, but then i decided to make them an N, a character from Black and White. His closeness and kindness to his pokemon, tie well with monk and their lizards.

Lizards are painted as spindas. i thought abt giving each individual pokemon, but i also wanted to make it quick and easy for the comics, so spindas! infinite patterns for an infinite amount of friends.

Okay so this reference is like really obscure. It's the main characters from the movie Mune: guardian of the moon. I think i watched it only one time, long ago, i think the plot is really basic, but the lore and the art from it is great. it's one of those: if it was 2d it would’ve been so beautiful.

Anyway i wanted to do a lil swap: survivor is mune and nightcat is glim, cause it worked better personality wise.

(if it comes up that someone submitted perry the platypus costume and it didnt go through, idk what i will do) So they were like: why not combine the shark hoodie and a sci fi speedster and jaga u are a genius. im not too proud of this one, the colors could be a lil better and the suit needs some work, but it was the last day of the competition and didn't have that much time.

My personal proudest one. A simple spray painter, but i put much care into this one. Now looking at it, I should rethink some colors, but i still like it. The spray cans could’ve been swapped out for needles (optional, not a correct). The tail is a paint brush with a swirl that isn't very visible in the colored piece.

Hollow knight gang! I think quirrel works well with wanderer. I mean the name, the character, the mission. They work well, I think.

hello! and hey for what it's worth, i also have my moments where i'm drawing their hair and i go "what.. is going on here" LMAO but also len's hair isn't all that different from spiky twin's so i'd say that's improvement! but here are some things i try to keep in mind when drawing their hair

ignore me emoting at the bottom. i would simplify their hair as a tear drop for sah and a half circle for mekh, but i also do not want them to appear Too flat. hence, the shape is a base to build off of. it helps us determine the direction of the hair, how we layer it, and the space it occupies. but sol, why a tear drop and not a triangle? to which i say We must consider that sah has hair at the Back of their head that also extends from the nape of their neck so it must be considered when drawing the hair as a whole

determining a point where the hair parts/where the bangs start from also helps us better understand how the hair flows from that point

mekh has a bang in the middle of their hair and some face-framing bangs along their jaw. you can still see the basic half-circle/dome shape of their hair, and you can see how the sections of hair logically appear to flow from the marked point on their head. the top of their head is round, the bottom of their hair is basically Flat and straight across (it's just a bob that's very flared out at the bottom) which is why the back isnt really visible from the front unless you're looking at them from a lower angle. case in point:

mekh as viewed from the back and slightly below. the traced line shows that the bottom of their hair is basically a circle lol

now sah is..... Certainly Something..... ngl im not so sure how to describe them but i will try. their bangs sweep right and i try to keep their hair in Big triangular sections to resemble the model more closely. the back of their hair Also sweeps right. id say the spikes of their hair run along the curve of the aforementioned teardrop, and you can basically use a differently-angled teardrop for the front bang as well. But Sol, you may ask again, why are some of the spikes labeled as being the Back of their hair?

ok this pic quality sucks but you get the idea. when viewed from the side, you will see that their hair also flows Back. you can also see the hair coming from the nape of the neck. sah's hair is actually like.. sorta shaggy and longer, pretty multi-layered in the hypothetical scenario that it isn't styled up which is where all those spikes come from. (i'd even say it'd extend lower than mekh's if unstyled since mekh's is so bluntly cut across.)

this got kinda long but some ending notes: honestly don't be afraid to stylize and you don't need to be perfectly on-model with their hair. there's nothing wrong with using references either, i have a bunch of screenshots of the elders from different angles and if you/a friend has the hair you can also just screenshot that to give you a guideline. and also don't be hard on yourself if it looks kinda off or anything because i have drawn a lot of spiky haired characters in my time and i still sometimes look at stuff i deemed Fit To Post and go "hm. i would have drawn that differently if i redrew it today."

Ngl, that was the main plot point of this au lol. I really wanted to point out how Wukong was a MASSIVE simp, so my tired brain decided, "got nothing to lose, why not?" But there is a story besides that, I promise!

The idea starts with one of the gods (probably Guan Yin or Nezha, but it really hasn't been decided yet) asking a 'small' favour from Mk and his friends. A pretty big shot demon with a hell of a lot of influence somehow got their hands on an important Celestial artifact and the gods need it back, but they can't outright snag it back because they don't want to create conflict with this demon and all his supporters (Big guy owns a large ring of popular casinos and/or bars, and a lot of items get gambled away because of betting). So instead, they go "Oh you guys are mortal and don't have any direct connection with us, you do it and we'll all be happy!"

So the Monkie Kids (Wukong + Redson got dragged into this as well) all try and figure out how tf they're supposed to sneak into this demon's terrain, get what they need, and sneak out again without getting killed or causing a potential war. Tang and Redson start looking through some of the info they got on this guy and realizes that he hires lots of performers to keep he and his customers entertained, so Tang absent-mindedly brings up the idea of having someone be a distraction. Redson latches onto that idea and claims that he knows a guy and rushes away. (*cough cough* monkey uncle who *cough cough*)

So the night of the heist finally arrives, and everyone gets all dressed up in nice clothes to fit in with everyone else. Redson refuses to tell who the 'distraction' is, claiming they'll know when they see him. They sit around and wait for the cue, when an announcer comes up and tells the crowd that they have a special event lined up for the evening. The spotlights turn on, everyone looks to where they are pointing, and out comes Macaque in all his belly dancer glory.

Cue Wukong almost dying of a nose bleed.

Everyone kinda sits there in shock, before Macaque spots them, gives them a subtle nod and starts dancing, to which Redson grabs Mk, kicks Wukong, and tells them it's time to go. They all, as discretely as they can with Wukong stopping to gawk every now and then, sneak over to where the demon is and start interacting with his lackeys while Mk shifts in his smaller form to snag the artifact, which has been placed on this nice little pedestal RIGHT next to where the big bad sits.

He almost sneaks away with it before the demon shifts and starts turning towards Mk. He starts panicking, and then Macaque is suddenly in front of the demon, taking his attention while secretly dropping Mk through the shadows. The rest excuse themselves and rush out, finding Mk in a dumpster in the alleyway out back behind the building.

They get back to Pigsy's, celebrate a job well done, and Macaque pops up after a bit to drop Redson off at his family's base. He gets hit with a lot of thank yous and 'holy shit you know how to DANCE?! You gotta teach me sometime' (Mei), before noticing how red Wukong is. He teases him over it, and they all laugh at how flustered he gets.

Anddddddddd that's a wrap! I might add more defining details later on if I get around to it, but that should be about it. It's kinda a lot tho, sorry about that (⁠・⁠–⁠・⁠;⁠)⁠ゞ

Essentially, this entire story was a sleep deprived idea that came to me at around 3 or so in the morning while listening to music (⁠´⁠-⁠﹏⁠-⁠`⁠；⁠)

I just wanna say I love how Jack is gonna make the wedding fits both his and Leelathae's liking. I know that is an average kindess act for marriage but it's still pretty heartwarming for me.

WOAH WOAH WOAH. I mean, I was sure Jack would eventually confront his parents, but dang. Actually, it makes sense how Helena and Jesse starts seeing their reflection wrong too. I think with how much they talk about their beauty, they don't love their inner self (their personality) and instead too focused on their outward beauty. So I'm guessing here that what triggers the reflection problem on people, is personal hurtful words? First with Gwen, Frederick calling her ugly. Leelathae, Helena and Jesse calling her ugly. And now with Helena and Jesse, Jack called them hideous.

But y'know what? I am so glad Jack confronted his parents. It feels SO good. He loves Leelathae so much, it's so heartwarming.
